Short version: This is a character driven RP(with some wider viewed guidance by the GMs) that focuses specifically on both the Jedi Order and the Sith. The story will be driven by the actions of the characters, but the outcomes of those actions will be driven by dice. I have a system, modified(heavily in some areas) from the old Star Wars table top. See below.
This is an an alternate universe from both the new canon and the old EU in an unspecified future where the Sith have been gone until recently, and the Jedi had dwindled down to their last Master and Apprentice. That Apprentice is the Master now, and he is seeking Padawans of his own, but so is a new Sith Lord.

Note: Whichever side you intend to join, you won't be a part of it already when you introduce your character. The RP has already started, so we don't want to shoehorn new characters in with retcons saying they were always there.

There's an Interest Check ( http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/87520-star-wars-opposing-forces/ooc ) already in progress, and there are a few Jedi Padawans, but no Sith Acolytes yet. There's a lot of discussion over there, I'm covering the important parts in this post, but there is a beta test of our dice system in the form of a fight between my character and the GM's. The beta test battle is now in a hider below.

Here's a link to the OOC thread:

OOC

Long Version:

Untold centuries after the fall of Emperor Palpatine and his apprentice, Darth Vader, the galaxy is united as a republic once more. It was a long fight, Imperial remnants holding as much ground as they could, for as long as they could. In the midst of it, over the decades, the Skywalker family made a few quiet attempts to restart the Jedi Order. They didn't dare be as open as the old Order was. They were afraid of attracting powerful enemies, and they were afraid of being seen as one.

Their soft hand was their downfall. The New Order attracted some students, but they never again achieved the reach that the Jedi were known for, and over time they faded from the general public's awareness, remembered as some mystical order of paladins or monks. Long after Luke Skywalker's death, the Order failed for decades to attract new padawans, and as the older masters died out, soon there was only one left. The last Apprentice of the New Jedi Order, he achieved the rank of Knight, and the last Master passed his title to him as he died. Oberon Markel considered letting the lineage die, knowing the Force was alive, and would resurface when it was needed.

But that was not the Force's will after all. Something pulled on him, and he found himself drawn by intuition to Corellia. He stood outside a junk shop(the owner fancied himself an antique's dealer) when David Starsea walked out with an old, dead lightsaber in his hands. He was the first apprentice in almost fifty years, and after learning all Master Markel had to teach, he found himself more successful in finding padawans than his predecessors.

Unfortunately, so was someone else.

CSes are freeform, except for the stat section. I was taking them through PM before, but after one player said he sent one but I never received it, I've come to suspect the PM system may be broken. So go ahead and post here. We're looking for Sith before Jedi right now. This RP will always have openings, though.

Hi. I'm the Co-GM and Sith Lord for this RP. I know that together we can remake the Galaxy as it should be. If you wish to learn the ways of the Darkside, I'm more than willing to teach you.

I can make u sith with me. {sick*}

I can be a very reviled Sith acolyte.
Faug
I have a blue, grey skin, which is thinner then that of a human, but leathery and loose like one who is elderly.
The average height of my species as a whole is moderately higher than average human height. 6'
I myself am not tall among my people, nor am I exceedingly muscled.. but none of my race is known for fortitude.

As for my skills as a jedi,
I am not much good with the force outside my ability to attune it to my body to increase: dexterity; my acrobatics; and find indifference.
I make for a poor acolyte as I am not necessarily angry, but Mad. Overall I suck at force impulses, and environmental manipulation. BUt that doesn't mean I can't wreak untempered havoc in my maddest of moments.

Can A Sith like Faug breach the lines of those whom were set on duty without foreknowledge of my coming?

"I, Siador Dren, am not a technician, I am not a scholar, I am not a competent engineer, mechanic, or businessman. I have found no place for myself in the Galaxy, and no one has found a place for me, other than the miserable slums of my homeworld where I contend with the inhabitants in ritualistic theft."

[ question: how many tiers of power are there? and where do your characters fit in it? ex. 4/10**]

Although I haven't been very active on this site for a while now, perhaps I could join as a Sith Acolyte (because why would I want to be a Jedi?). Perhaps people aren't being Sith because you haven't written a backstory for the faction? Speaking of which, what are the Sith like in this day and age?

TheUnknowable wrote the Sith backstory and is in general control of that Order. If you go to the OOC, he has the second post which has information for that.

http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/87772-star-wars-opposing-forces/ooc

But to answer your question, the Sith are small like the Jedi, but unlike Palpatine they don't have established lines of power that are helping them with their goals. Right now, they're working under the guise of an archaeologist and his workers at a dig on Korriban. Most of the people there are just hired laborers, there are two apprentices(there's a third who is off world doing other errands).

@ArcaneUnit You would need a proper CS, we're freeform about it other than the stats and skills section. My CS on the first post is a general model(though you should be warned that the stats in that CS are out of date).

As for power tiers, all Apprentices start with the same stat points to allocate, and you can grow in power and skill as the RP goes on. So there isn't really an upper level, and a n/10 measurement would be meaningless.

If you want to apply(both of you) send a CS to me through PM. Be sure to read everything in the first two posts of the OOC. You can skip the "beta battle," and the "npc" sections, though.

For Consideration

There's already two characters who come pre-made with Force training, so I'm going to say no on that aspect, as the characters were supposed to be fresh apprentices and those aforementioned characters were already special cases. And with that being the case, it would not make sense for literally all of her skills to be Jedi related. What's more, that puts her easily above everyone else in combat situations, which is very meta-gamey.

Whichever side you intend to join, you won't be a part of it already when you introduce your character. The RP has already started, so we don't want to shoehorn new characters in with retcons saying they were always there.

@Gisk

If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me which parts I have to cull to conform to the storyline and the setting. I'm not good with many game terms. So I got the gist of what you said but a little clearer instruction on what to keep and what to leave would benefit me.

Edit: I made the changes. Need re consideration. Is it still meta-gamey?

What does duel wield mean in game terms? Which is to ask: when would you roll for "duel wield" rather than "blaster"(or whichever combat skill is applicable)? I just sort of see it as a superfluous skill, where the points could be put somewhere better.

Does he have no non-combat skills?

Oh, I'll tell you something. If you mean to use a double bladed saber, you might give her skill with a shock staff now, instead of blaster. That could be her defensive weapon of choice, and you can convert that skill to saber fighting when she gets one.

That's a little meta-gamey too, but at a more acceptable level.

I guess that's like how Pim has Vibroblade skill instead of lightsaber skill.

Okay thanks on that, I'll roll with it. Are there any more issues with her. I'm playing a female character.

Edit: Changes done. Will that be fine by you?

Shock staff out to be under strength, but other than that, you're good.

Do you have an idea of how your character will be introduced? Will she just be working for Dren on Korriban as a laborer? Or do you have another way of putting her with the others?

... to be honest I do not know anything about the starwars spin-offs...
I do not think I qualify for this RP. I am unfamiliar with planet names, factions, species, technological terms, and the general history.

if none of that will matter... well I am 25 and I grew up with starwars. I beat Battlefront. and well, as a philosopher, the premise is fairly simple.

RED on a rainbow is apparently immeasurably abundant, leading into the infra-red,
where as blue exists in the realms of green, violet and indigo ~ Though finite, is diverse.
yellow, is generally an unused lightsaber colour, and for all legitimate practice is impermissible - it indicates a neutrality to the conflict between sith and jedi, which is a nearly impossible position to defend or stand upon.
The green symbolizes this Neutrality best by indicating a desire to seek resolution, not impose one.
Playing Yellow, would be equivalent to being George Lucas.

furthermore my understanding of Physics and Theory regarding space exploration, travel, and evaluation are rather exceptional. Leading me to believe and thus suggest I very well may be qualified to participate.

I am a very philosophical individual and so, although I am very much Jedi over Sith, I can accommodate the maddening characteristics of a Sith as a character. Driven within personal reasoning to limitlessly irrational conclusions.

Faug, is a bastard. And his hate for his Master's superiority complex would make him a powerful Sith, because he wishes to ascend. However, he is not so blind to think he is superior to his superiors, not capable of ascending without them, so he is Humiliated (not humbled) by their over-bearing patronization.

"I will rule the world" ~ {the limited perspective of Faug [ He cannot even begin to fathom what it means to rule the galaxy, the universe or the heart. ] } (he is an idiot though, and he means all of reality when he said world**)

@ArcaneUnitI was trying to play a more philosophical kind of Sith, who felt that the governments and the other forms of societal structures were holding the intelligent races back. He doesn't want to rule the galaxy so much as tear it down so that it can rebuild itself stronger and better. This would allow those that are superior to be the leaders, instead of those that simply kowtow to the masses.

@ArcaneUnit I don't think it's gonna be a problem, feel free to make a character sheet.

@Minimum I don't want to turn anyone away, but we're getting a bit unbalanced.

Eh, fuck it. I'll scrounge up some Jedi if it becomes a problem. Make a sheet and we'll talk.

Do either of you have any specific questions?
