Beryl Harken- Team VGNB Dorm

If her semblance had the capacity to do so, Beryl's balls of water would have started boiling. As it was they were simply tossed back into the bathroom as the faunus stood up. It did not matter that she had never met Bianca, she was a fellow student at Haven. More then that she was a friend of Beryl's friends. The fact that kidnapping was something that she hated only fed fuel to the flames of her soul.

Without a word she moved to buckle Stream to her waist and grab her go-bag. It held everything she might need on a trip like this. Once that was done she followed Napoli out of the dorm and to the airdocks. The sooner they could get off the ground the sooner they could rescue the former member of VGNB.

And tear those scum limb from limb while we are at it.

Mokuren Sabella

Mokuren, the cute little fox girl, woke to see the rest of her team was absent. In her sleepy state, she didn't think anything of it, and so went to go brush her hair, her teeth, and then her tail. And do other toilet stuff. The pain down below told her what this week was going to be like, and so she hoped there wasn't anything vigerous going to happen. She dealt with the mess side of things, and wished she could just stop it all completely, but nature will be nature. So, she was helpless, probably just going to sit in and read Ninjas of Love. And of course, make many happy thoughts about Skyra.

Still, with her mind rather fuzzled, she thought she'd better find out where the rest of them were before lounging back on her bed. To that end, Mokuren found her Scroll, and typed up a message.

to team JMCL

"Ever noticed how we start with a J, when the actual name starts with an I?" She typed up, before sending it. A few moment later, she realized the flaw, and groaned, typing up another message.

to team JMCL
"Brain has gone to town today, left me to deal with my body, and I don't blame it. Is there anything important on today?" she then put the scroll away, and scurried back into bed, going to get a few more hours before she was hungry, at which point she would seek out food, and then return.

Lauren Negasi

Oh dear Lord.

Was this going to be a weekly thing? Were her Fridays doomed to cruel, early awakenings well into her twenties? What had Lauren Negasi gotten herself into? With a loud yawn that was half a groan, the young woman went to kick her covers off of her legs - only to find that the bottom half of her body, from her shorts to her feet, had been swallowed up by her covers, leaving her with the appearance of a rather snug, ungainly mermaid from the small of her back down.

...trapped... was the only one that crossed Lauren's groggy mind as she raised her bound legs into the air and slammed them down on the mattress once, twice, three times, trying to work her way free. It took six tries for the blankets to loosen around her waist, and she slithered out of them in pursuit of the candy bar pre-emptively sitting on her dresser. Ooh, with wafers. She'd made a good haul today. Normally she went for the caramel cookie bars, but she hated caramel first thing in the morning. Made Fridays a huge effort from the jump.

Lauren needed to get dressed. She looked down at her sleeping attire - I look like something out of one of Ben and Luke's cartoons - and sighed again, feet touching the cool wood of BASL's dormitory. Digging for a tank top, she pulled it on over her torso and lazily pulled it over her bra straps, one arm at a time.

She hated wearing shit to bed. Given the chance, she would have cast the bra into the fires of Mount Doom every night at 9 pm on the dot. But, as much as she liked to joke to the contrary, Ben Lloyd was definitely a guy, and her team leader to boot - and he had gone out of his way to make her comfortable with Beacon. So, for her friend's sake, Lauren went to bed every night feeling about as comfortable as though she were wearing a muzzle to sleep.

Which...well...kinda.

After wandering her way to the showers (a path she was finally starting to get familiar with) and waking herself up with water only slightly less hot than the members of her team, she slipped back into the dorms to discover her team still not quite up and at 'em. This would normally be a prime time to wake them up, but Lauren still had to foist her Armory project upon them. No telling what they'd say to it if they were all awake. So, tiptoeing through the dorm, Lauren laid a pair of chic sunglasses, with only the slightest little nodule above the right lens hinting at any technology, on each bedside table.

For Sangue Naga, the BaSTEEL (she'd work up an acronym later) Mk 1 Cobra-specs - designed specifically to interface with her claw and display live, close-to-scientific readouts of her venom supply in combat. Lauren had planned on adding another feature to examine the mechanical status of the Apophis Claw itself, but hadn't thought it was appropriate to ask Sangue if she could tinker with her prosthetic arm for a couple hours. If the quiet redhead was interested, she'd leave instructions after the mission today. @NarayanK

For Amy Desire, the BaSTEEL Mk 1 Consort-specs - after watching her flip out in Math class thanks to the overloading of her Semblance, Lauren had gone into designing these glasses trying to take some of the heat off her teammate. The Consort-specs came with a small, scrolling wheel on her nodule to adjust tint, preventing overloading of Amy's eyes with sensory input and allowing her to use her Semblance without fear of personal harm. From the ends of the frames dangled small industrial-grade earplugs she'd plucked from Chatsworth's class. They looked kinda dorky hanging there, for sure, but she'd rather Desire have eardrums and look like a dweeb than look like the hottest babe in their first-year class and not be able to hear someone (read: some genius inventor with a great rack and irrepressible cheer) tell her so. Plus, Lauren decided, nudging the glasses closer to Amy's sleeping face, the hair will probably cover it anyway. @Kaithas

For Ben Lloyd, the BaSTEEL Mk 1 Commodore-specs - the nodule on the captain's glasses was larger than the rest, and his lenses displayed either an augmented HUD over the top third of his vision that measured team vital signs (a little trick Lauren had picked up with help from Luke, who was working on spotters of his own, involving basic bio readouts from tear ducts that each pair of glasses could register and transmit), a readout of Ben's own Aura readouts, battery power, and what part of his body was currently being augmented by his Semblance, or - in case he needed to, you know, see in combat - an off setting! @Krayzikk

And, for Lauren herself, the BaSTEEL Mk 1 Cinema-specs. Much like an athlete who recorded every bout (or someone constantly on the watchout for in-car surveillance) Lauren had long since learned that the quickest way to improvement was through realizing one's own mistakes, not just having them shouted by other people and deflecting the criticism. With that in mind, Lauren had gone to Goodwitch pleading for any footage of her bout with Ben and had been handily refused. Walking, upset, from combat class had helped her realize that she could just take her self-improvement into her own hands, and so the Cinema-specs (the last glasses to be designed) were born in her head. The nodule on Lauren's sunglasses functioned as a little camera, capable of recording up to thirty minutes of video at a time. Since very few Grimm engagements in the open lasted longer than fifteen, maybe twenty at a time, it was plenty of time to get the film and transmit it to Scrolls after action. Lauren could capture any movements of her own that happened to cross into her vision, which was a godsend for a hand-to-hand combatant, as well as record any teammates in their own spars.

...

Maybe that was creepy.

Quickly, she scribbled out a few waivers on loose leaf and left them atop the sunglasses, along with a pen.

All better!

And with that, there was no reason for the team to be asleep. It was their first mission. They were gonna kick ass. Make dosh. She was going to ace Armory, and then make more dosh off the BaSTEELS. The gameplan was fixed solidly in her head. As soon as her team...woke...

"UUUUUUUUUUUUUP!" she yelled, bouncing on her bed and cupping her hands around her mouth. "GET UP, TEAM! IT'S FRIDAY! MISSION DAY! MISSION DAAAAAAAAAAAY!"

Krysthane - Helipad

"Of course I remember what happened, you and Skyra got into a fight with some poeple and Sephia and I made some new friends. I think we finished both of our sections right? So there was just that one last place we had to check out. But we might have new orders now so I guess we'll find out when we get there." Krysthane said cheerily in response to Ebon's question. She watched happily as her other two teammates arrived in time to hear her summary. Krysthane turned to Sephia and said, "Yeah, I'm glad we have an easy mission until we get more used to each other. Anyway lets get going and see what orders we have today." Krysthane nodded in affirmation of her own statement and began walking towards their helicopter-thing.

Sangue Naga - A Slow Start

The red-haired woman's eyes jolted open as she remained still.

She expected time to eventually wake her up peacefully. Time would have woken her up in a delicate fashion, and she would appreciate it for doing so.

Instead, the epic voice of Lauren Negasi destroyed her ears. Not that she minded too much; sometimes people needed a hard wakeup call to get ready for dangerous things.

Slowly lifting herself up, the woman blinked, her long hair covering a good portion of her face as she gained control of her tired body. She eventually got into her uniform quickly because her robes were all she needed.

"...Good morning," Sangue whispered to Lauren as she continued to regain control over her woozy mind.

Patrol Mission

Once Team KESS was assembled, they were punctually taken back to Vale by helipad, were some officers were present. They had orders to escort them to Vale's Police Department HQ. Unlike last time, they wouldn't be meeting with a local captain, but a representative from the DA. Drinks and doughnuts were offered to the team as they waited to be called in, and once they were they would be face-to-face with a straight-laced woman in a business suit. She seemed a lot like Gylnda, only she had red hair and had handcuffs on her belt. Her name tag read "Olivia Strongarm"

"Welcome, hunters. In light of your recent success protecting Vale the last time you were assigned here, we have decided to put your talents into better use than simply patrolling. We have recently uncovered more clues regarding the robot attacks your team had investigated last time you were here, and we suspect that it was not an isolated incident. While the MO has changed, we have noticed similar robberies taking place in the past, but with far less efficiency. We managed to dig up clues suspecting that these aren't just petty burglaries, but something much bigger. How big, we do not know, however I trust that you hunters could get to the bottom of things to find out who is responsible and why they are doing this. Additionally, if you do find some sort of clue or culprit that needs to be safeguarded, we have assigned Officer Midori to assist you in those endeavors. Call her if you need to secure witnesses or evidence. Do keep in mind however that she does have her own patrol as well, and may take some time to reach your location."

Olivia then handed out four folders to each member of Team KESS, each containing the same information: past robberies which stores were broken into solely to steal their food, many of the robbers being caught in location were W.A.R. was graffiti near by, and evidence showing that some illicit activities take place near where the robbers attempt to bring their ill-gotten snacks. More importantly most of the clues have been narrowed down in the Red Asphalt District, and a map was given. Krysthane and Sepia may even recognize that one of the connected streets contained the teashop known as The Cat Nap.

"We would appreciate it if you investigated this matter as soon as possible. However we also understand that we have only asked Beacon to provide their students to help replace our missing patrolmen. If you feel that you cannot or do not wish to participate in this operation, I will have no problems with it. Though I do ask that you keep any information you've discovered confidential between yourselves and the Vale PD. If there are any questions you have I will answer them to the best of my ability." A plate of assorted doughnuts and drinks were on the desk in front of Team KESS, inviting them to partake in the sweet confectioneries.

Kuhaku Shiro - Mission Control

Startled by the sudden hip bump from the much larger and heavier Gren, Shiro jumped and lost his grip on his Scroll. His ears and tail pointing straight up as he sputtered and made a series of odd noises. Fumbling with the Scroll in midair and coming dangerously close to dropping his second Scroll, Shiro smacked his palms together and managed to keep hold of the device gifted to him by Gren. Blowing out a relieved sigh, Shiro turned and smiled at Gren, "O-oh. It's just you. Y-yeah, I'm alive." Chuckling and scratching the back of his head, he added "Barely." Blinking curiously as Gren presented him with a steaming beverage, he pointed at himself and tilted his head. "Oh, is that for me? What is it?" Pocketing his Scroll he wrapped his fingers around the cup and warily sniffed at it. It smelled like some mixture of tea. Smiling as warmly as the liquid within the cup, Shiro was forever grateful and appreciative of how thoughtful Gren always seemed. Not waiting for an answer, he trusted Gren and made his decision. "Ah, thanks buddy!" Carefully blowing over the top of the drink container to cool it, Shiro slowly and carefully imbibed the caffeinated brew. A comfortable wave of heat washed over his body as the tea was consumed. Sighing, he grinned at his friend. "How'd you know I needed a pick-me-up?"

Standing there in silence for a moment, Shiro was happy to just be in Gren's company and sipping the delicious tea. It didn't take long for the caffeine to be absorbed into his bloodstream to begin its work. Already he was feeling worlds better than he had been the past couple of nights. When Sapphire arrived, Shiro's immediate knee-jerk reaction was to withdraw into himself but he stopped the feeling at the pass. Clearing his throat, he nodded at Sapphire and made a head motion to Kladenets and Perun stored on his back. "Ready as I'll ever be, Ms. Rode." Looking around, he asked the question that would probably be on everyone else's mind. "Has...anyone seen Abel? I haven't run into him all morning."

Amy winced as the loud sound of Lauren's voice ripped her out of dreamless reverie, one side of her upper lip pulling itself up off her teeth a little as her face contorted... Then she sighed, and sat up, blue eyes opening for just an instant before she rubbed them. Her vision fell to the left, to the glasses that Lauren had left her... and she smiled slightly, picking them up and scrolling the wheel back and forth slowly, watching the level of tint rise and fall.

She rotated, her legs slinging over the edge of her bed, then she hopped up and walked toward her dresser, bare feet padding across the rug she'd thrown under her space in the dorm room. She'd done laundry, and she was back to a full wardrobe. Jean cutoffs and a midriff baring top were the order of the day, and she pulled them on with ease--then put her sunglasses in the breast pocket of her shirt.

"Morning, Lauren," she said. "Thank you for the glasses..."

Benjamin Lloyd

Despite his own advice, Ben hadn't turned in early. He was awake even after the rest of his team had gone to sleep, sitting at his desk with Artorius and Lawnslot. Both had been given the once-over before Combat Class, but this was their mission. A once-over didn't cut it. The firing mechanisms for both shotguns were carefully dismantled and removed, piece by piece, for inspection and cleaning. Even after they were reassembled he took a few extra minutes to ensure that the mechanisms were functioning smoothly. Sharpening the blades came after that, and troubleshooting Caletfwlch came last. Caletfwlch in particular took a little time. The two needed to combine easily and quickly on the battlefield, so nothing less than optimal condition for the mechanisms was allowed. When all was said and done, maintenance had taken him a couple of hours.

Deciding what to bring with him was quicker. Breaking out the Dust rounds for class wasn't necessary, but he was going to take any advantage he had on missions. Without knowing what the mission was, he couldn't plan for it specifically. So it was best to cover all of his bases. Fire, Lightning, and Ice would do the trick. He'd prepared as much as he could have, but he couldn't help but feel like he should be doing more. Would have been better if he had the mission briefings ahead of time.

Somewhere around midnight he finally set his gear down on his desk, ready for the morning, and went to sleep. But it seemed like he hadn't received all of it yet.

The BaSTEEL Commodore-specs were on his bedside table, along with a hastily scrawled waiver. The latter of which he ignored (he wasn't signing anything Lauren drew up without a thorough reading), but the former had his rapt attention. Lightweight, given the tech that was in them, and they fit comfortably on his face. Even a quick glance at their features was impressive. He'd need to pick Lauren's brains over the design later.

Right now, it was time for missions. BASL's leader slipped out of his covers, but he instantly regretted having to leave the warm bed. The outside air wasn't cold, but in his state of dress, it was a lot less pleasant. He pulled his shoulders back, pushing his shoulder-blades as close together as he could, then twisted at the waist left and right. Each move helped him shake off the sleepiness in his muscles, and within a few seconds he had made his way to his bureau to get dressed. "Better alarm clock than I'd have thought, Negasi."

Throwing on his clothes only took a few moments, and only a second more to slip his tonfa into their holsters and stow their munitions on his person. The BaSTEELs had yet to leave his face.

"Everyone up? Ready to go?"

Krysthane - Police Headquarters

Krysthane remained as serious as she could while eating the donuts as cleanly as she could and looking over the papers. Her eyes lit up in recognition of the Cat Nap. Maybe they could grab a ride from the guys, possibly learn a thing or two while they were at it. After all if anything else had happened they might very well know about it, it was at least worth checking out. They'd stop there first and figure out where to go from there, since she didn't think they really had any other leads. "Of course Officer, we'll make sure to do our best and keep any information where it belongs. Any questions before we go guys?" Krysthane asked looking at her teammates for confirmation before they left, after all she would be loath to leave and suddenly find that someone had a question they didn't get to ask.

Lauren Negasi

"Morning, sweethearts. Morning, Cap."

Lauren bounced down into a sitting position on her bed and tucked her bangs between her right ear and the temple of her sunglasses. She bounced again and landed on her feet, boots clicking against the floor softly, toes tapping together excitedly. Her usual irrepressible grin was on her face, and though her emerald eyes were covered by her Armory project, her brows were raised high in anticipation. She clicked her boots together one more time and then plucked her axe from the top drawer of her dresser, along with the remaining half of her candy bar.

"Negasi, up and at 'em," she chirped, already beginning her slow slide towards the door to the dorm.

It was clear that, unless stopped, her own friction would carry her all the way to Mission Control without even lifting another foot. She stopped at the doorknob and turned to the team. Behind the lenses of her BaSTEELs were wide puppy eyes, as if asking the team silently if she could be the one that threw open the door.

Estelle Sidos Heurassein - Team JESS - The Arena

“Are you guys the senior team? Jessica or something?” Someone said from Estelle’s flank. She turned to meet the younger man brining a hand up to her face to gently move her hair behind her ear.

“Team Jessant, that’s us.” Estelle said looking at the boy. He had his scroll out and he seemed to be reading instructions from it.

“I have a message for you, all. Professor Ozpin has requested that you take on a mission, it has just come through and it’s not going to be easy. Ozpin’s message is this: We need a senior team to tackle this one. We have a trading caravan coming in from Mistral that is a biannual flow of resources moving between our countries. However, we’ve been told there are large groups of Grimm moving on the Caravan’s location. We need to move swiftly and with tact. Your objective is to figure out what is drawing the Grim to the caravan and defend it, we don’t know when exactly the Grimm will arrive, so you’ll need to have at least one team member awake at all times, this job should last a full 24 hours. As this is so last minute, we have no time to send you back up. Good luck.” The young man took a second to catch his breath before coming to the realization that he was finished giving Ozpin’s report.

Estelle glanced back at her team, she felt as if they were ready. Even if Estelle hadn’t slept much and had just partaken in two training matches. “Very well, we’ll leave immediately.” Estelle said putting a hand on her weapon. She turned back to the rest of her team and garnered their attention. “Is there anything anyone needs to get before we leave? Remember we’ll be gone for a couple days.” Estelle took a step forward towards her teammates. "If not we'll head to the helipad now."

"Are you willing to overlook some dead bodies?" Figuring that they might end up killing or finding murdered people, Ebon wanted to make sure he and his team wouldn't get a bad rap if they ended up killing out of self-defense. Not that he was looking to hurt anyone, but he wasn't going to hold back either. If recent experiences taught him anything, not bringing out the big guns is the road to failure. Ebon also took a bottle of water and drained it fast, throwing it away in the nearest trash can. "And how much collateral do we have? I don't want to get blamed for someone else's mess after all." He then grabbed a doughnut and ate it in three bites.

Vega Venetia – Team VGNB – VGNB Dorm

Gratia utterance of that sentence and the immediate unnerving solitude of the room made her spine jump up. Bianca, her close friend who was dear to her, kidnapped by who, she did not know. But Vega knew that it was up to her team to rescue her before a grim fate befalls her.

A silent wait was required; Vega knew that though she started to become restless from the thoughts of the possibility of the fate of Bianca but was optimistic that nothing would happen to her. With Mr. Jokester, otter girl, and Ms. Irritable, who were all angered as much as her by the kidnapping of Bianca, nothing would stand in their way.

With a pause, “All I can say is that, we must begin our preparations for this” she uttered seriously. After that Vega grabbed her scroll out and sent a message.

>Sender: Vega Venetia
>Receiver: Sarina Tala Dei
>Body: Bianca Nuit, has been kidnapped. VGNB is going to prepare for this.

She tapped send on her scroll; Sarina had to know this to.

--

Sarina Tala Dei - Team JESS – The Arena

Sarina took out her scroll to see Vega message, she was shocked and with her sister here, it would be a bad moment if Estelle found out just before their mission. Indeed, Sarina hoped Bianca would fare well and be rescued by VGNB; she did consider them well above the other freshman teams of Beacon.

>Sender: Sarina Tala Dei
>Receiver: Vega Venetia
>Body: I see…be careful and I wish you good luck on your mission to save her. ┐( ˘ 、 ˘ )┌

…Leaving her signature Kaomoji in her message turned to Estelle. Another last minute mission eh. “Hold on, I need to get some provisions from my room. I will meet you and the others at the helipad soon.” With that, Sarina dashed off illuminatingly to her dorm.

Grane Blauer

"No, Never a mission from Beacon, but I wouldn't say I'm a complete rookie." Then again, Grane had never really fought Grimm, so it would be interesting to see how he would fare against these creatures. At least their mission seemed straightforward enough, evict some grimm out of a fort and make sure their buddies don't bust back in. Nothing too strenuous for his first real engagement with the Grimm. Robert was trying to offer some sort of emotional support, though knowing Robert he was probably trying to mask about how much of a pussy he was. Yes, Grane was probably being extremely harsh and perhaps even a bit assholey, but this kid was going to lead him into combat. A lack of clarity would probably lead to the deaths of the entire team.

Also, remembering that incident in class just made him cringe. It was like a small kitten in a den of lions. But who knows? Maybe combat would change the man. Hopefully before they all got killed. On another note, their newest team member seemed pretty chill. At least better than Robert as far as he could tell, but that wasn't much of an achievement. But enough thinking about his teammates, Grane wanted to reach the fort ASAP. The faster it was taken, the faster the reinforcements could reach them.

"Robert, We gonna move out? I'd rather get this mission over with as quickly as possible."

"Go ahead, Negasi. You're gonna explode if I don't let you." Ben rolled his eyes, stifling a yawn while he tucked his Scroll into a pocket. They were running slightly behind, but he needed to be alert. He'd set the coffee maker the night before, getting his fuel was as simple as pouring it into a travel mug and starting towards the door. Bastille's leader looked like he was barely awake. And if he was honest... He wasn't quite there yet. But he was awake enough to run through his mental checklist of everything he needed, put in a good word with the big man upstairs, and step out the door.

Half his coffee vanished in a few quick swallows on the way. He needed to be at the top of his game, and that meant awake, alert, and energized. Give or take twenty minutes, and he'd be all three.

It was mission day, after all.

Abel Fulgurate - On the way

Huffing and puffing, the guardian thundered like an asthmatic ox down the hallway, struggling to fasten his armor on as he did so. Anyone unfortunate enough to be in his path pressed against the wall to avoid both him and the floating polearm that followed him, and received a brusque apology as Abel sprinted past. Of all the days to have previously left the Ampere in the Survival classroom, it had to be mission day. Abel, rounding the final corner toward the pavilion, pulled taut the last strap before he snatched his weapon out of the air. Only a few moments later, he stood, winded and tousle-haired but sufficiently ready to kick some ass, among his teammates.

After his attempt at saying 'hello' result in little more than a haggard ”huugh”, he resigned himself to standing with the Ampere's butt planted in the ground and trying not to look like an idiot. Sapphire, Shiro, and Gren appeared normal, or as normal was for them, so he busied himself with reading the mission statement on the screen before them. While he found himself slightly distracted by the aroma of his allies' tea, he did not assume that there was enough for him, and so paid it no mind. A few seconds later, he found himself able to speak. “G'morning. Sorry 'bout the wait, got really unlucky. Um. Looks like your rebreathies are gonna come in handy, Gren. Don't really know anything about Sirens though. Are they aquatic? Pretty landlocked back home.” He turned around, his gaze questioning, but discovered that everyone else seemed fit to depart. Feeling more than a little awkward to be centering the attention on himself with time a-wasting, he gestured dismissively at the screen. “Uh, whatever. Price I pay for bein' late, you can tell me on the ride over or something. I'm ready. You ready? Let's go.”

Brewing Storm

“Alright. You know what to do: find a way inside, find out what the hell happened, and find every single person you can. Oh, and chemical drums, if you care about money. We'll be watching from above; if you hit a snag, radio either IFRA or I for help. We'll have the birds-eye view, and tell you whatever we can. God forbid, but in case something goes really badly, both Mr. Orpheus and Mr. Lloyd have been issued a flare gun. The ship will fire on wherever the flare goes, inside or out.” Goodwitch crossed her arms and began to rise, along with the rest of the ship, into the air. Wind whipped her hair and cloak, but her last words came clearly and authoritatively, as if she could command fate to favor teams Bastille and Jumpercable. “Good luck.”

For a place determined by sweeping scans to be crawling with Grimm, Outlands Distillery looked rather quiet, albeit very ominous. Teams BASL and JPCL, dropped off on a hill in front of the facility, could see clearly the large, oddly-shaped structure, as if the building itself were deformed. All sorts of pipes, tanks, and other pieces of equipment lined its exterior, and behind the Distillery lay the sprawling swamp, choked by giant, twisted trees, stagnant water, and rolling fog. Though this mission lay on the cusp between summer warmth and autumn breezes, the air felt both cool and thick. Each hunter-in-training, on the descent to the facility, would doubtlessly step over gnarled roots, stinking puddles, deposits of mud, and an impressive variety of insects, amphibians, and reptiles. Just before the Distillery this terrain gave way to a large, paved lot, scattered over which were a few machines, storage boxes, tanks, and other such. Only one of the trucks showed any real damage: its hood had been torn off, exposing the engine, car battery, and various cables.

When they got to the main door, however, they would find it sealed shut. Beside it on the left stood the towering freight door, a giant, industrial version of a garage door, which appeared closed also. Fortunately, a terminal lay between the two apertures, though powered down. Anyone with electrical savvy might be able to tell that the entire Distillery's power grid was offline, but an external source of power would be enough to activate the terminal and unseal the locks.

A less tech-savvy individual, uneasy and looking around, might spot a small, dark shape disappearing around a corner as the teams approached.

Defend a Caravan

The airship ferrying team JESS flew with speed and silence, which as the trip went on developed a decidedly discomforting vibe. More and more, the seniors of Beacon assigned to this task would begin to suspect that their mission had, probably recently, become that much more urgent. In short notice, the ship left the verdant kingdom of Vale behind, shooting like a lonely comet of liveliness over barren steppes and wasted scrublands. Below, the occasional group of Grimm could be seen, but one got the impression that many more lurked beyond where the fleeting eye could discern.

At last, forty minutes later, the airship's velocity began to diminish. The two individuals in the sealed cockpit, who so far maintained an enigmatic nonpresence as far as the hunters they'd hired were concerned, finally connected to JESS via intercom. A female voice came to them with a shockingly intense tone, demanding attention and immediate compliance, “Hunter team, prepare for action immediately. The caravan is under attack this very instant. I'm not an expert on Grimm, but I can see a huge scorpion, a couple of dinosaurs with sails, and a bunch of bulls. They've stopped the vehicle and are destroying it. Your best bet is to remove whatever is preventing the vehicle from moving and get it going. Deploy now!”

The airship swooped down, and from its opened ramp leaped the members of JESS. Only a short fall lay between them and the vehicle, and as they dropped, the situation became obvious. The caravan vehicle, though huge and heavily armored, was under immense attack. Slowly but surly, the Sitting Bulls, the Tutankhamuns, and the Death Stalker were ripping through its armor. One of the Tutankhamuns stood on top of the vehicle's hulk, weighing it down as it rammed its head into the reinforced glass of the driver's terminal. At the back, the Death Stalker had a hold of the rear tires, and with its stinger lodged in one of the exhaust vents, the vehicle couldn't work up enough traction or power to get going.

Skyra Dawn - Police Headquarters

Skyra leaning on the wall chewing on some protein bar or something similar shrugged. "I want to do it a bit more stealthily than last time... I can't be bothered to fight another of those gang members today. Only if really needed."
Bored she scratched her ears.
"That way we avoid unnecessary bloodshed without actually having to try to avoid it."
She opened a map of their allocated route and scanned the weather report as well.
"Conditions seem good for stealth today. Let me scout out things before you guys rush into action..."

And the first obstacle presented itself. Sealed, ominous looking doors for a sealed, ominous looking factory. Joy.

"This is your guys' game. I'm crap with tech. Warn me if you're going to be loud, though."

Amy's eyes turned to the surrounding environment, her semblance tuning up as she tried to listen for any activity in the factory or spot any motion.

Sure enough, something in the corner of her eye--a small dark shape--she focused on it, semblance whirring up a few more metaphorical gears as she tried to discern what it was, before it vanished around the alley and out of her line of sight.

Sapphire Rode - Mission Control ===> Airship

Sapphire took another sip of her tea. She'd seen the slight shift Shiro's body had made in the other direction when she spoke. As though his first instinct on seeing her was to run in the other direction. It didn't really surprise her, it wasn't like anyone on her team was particularly fond of her company.

When Shiro asked about Abel Sapphire simply shrugged. When she'd gotten up this morning all three of her teammates were still fast asleep albeit only for another hour or so. After she'd showered, gone for a run and eaten breakfast Sapphire had returned to the dorm to find all three bunks empty. She'd just assumed Abel had been on his way to this location. Not finding him here Sapphire couldn't think were he might have gone. The best she could guess was that he was picking up some last minute supplies.

Seconds later Abel himself came running into the room stopping suddenly his breath coming in huge gasps. Speak of the devil. Wherever he'd been clearly he'd had to rush to get over here. It was a little sloppier than Sapphire was accustomed to seeing from him but everyone had there off days. She just hoped that this would be the only misstep he made today. "Abel, nice of you to finally join us. I believe the airship is waiting to take us to Trawl." Sapphire boarded the airship and once the rest of Swansong were present the all clear was given for the ship to take off.

Once in the air Sapphire opened her bag and fished around in it. Finally finding what she was looking for Sapphire pulled out a bag with three sets of earplugs in them. One of them was high grad and electronic, meant block out all sound when it was turned on. The other two were of simpler make and generally just served to blanket noise. She pulled out the first pair and shoved it into her pocket then handed the other two to Abel and Shiro. She didn't have a pair for Gren given that when she'd bought these they had been intended just for her. Having two backups was a little excessive but a necessary precaution. Having three was simply redundant. It likely didn't matter though since Gren's helmet more than likely had some sort of sound dampening function. "These are for when we get within vocal range of the Siren. They are relatively weak Grimm but their song has an enticing effect that is more than dangerous. I can't say for sure those will protect you but they should at the very least help."

Sapphire glanced out the window at the terrain falling away below them. She liked heights. They made her feel alive and free, like all her problems were the size of the people far below her. Knowing however that her problems were a lot more present than that Sapphire turned back to her team. "They's something else. This mission takes place on the oceanside and we're fighting an aquatic Grimm so I feel there's something you should know. I'm Aquaphobic, I have a deep seated fear of swimming and drowning." Sapphire took a breath, she could look a horde of Grimm in the face and smile but talking about herself that was truly frightening to her. "There may come a time when I'll be incapacitated by this or unable to continue the mission with you, should that happen I'm putting Abel in charge."

There were a number of reasons for this. Very few of them had to do with Abel himself. Shiro Sapphire knew full well did not have the presence of mind to direct an entire team. He was too affected by the emotions and opinions of those around him. He'd more than likely just end up doing whatever someone else told him to. Abel was Sapphire's partner and that counted for something but the real reason that Sapphire chose him over Gren was that she had very little trust for the boar faunus, he seemed to have a lack of concern for the safety of the rest of the team. At the end of their last mission she'd quite literally had blood dripping down her shoulders and still had to argue with him about finding Pops' secondary computer.

Speaking of Pops the other thing that worried Sapphire was about the man himself. After speaking to Ozpin about the boy with the Embodiment tattoo Sapphire had contacted the Vale police department in the hopes of getting a one on one with Pops. The only problem was that the bear faunus was nowhere to be found. Apparently he'd vanished from his cell, the cameras had gone dead and he'd disappeared while one of the guards was on break and the others were in the middle of a shift change. A perfect disappearing act that the police were keeping quiet. Of course Sapphire didn't have any reason to assume that Gren was involved with this but every time she thought about it her mind just went back to those few minutes he'd talked the team into letting him spend alone with Pops and how adamant he'd been about the research not falling into the wrong hands. She had no proof even linking the two together but it still nagged at her. She didn't have much faith in Gren and certainly not enough to sign over her role as leader even temporarily.

Having given this announcement Sapphire looked back out the window waiting, or more accurately expecting someone to raise an objection to her choice.
