<"It had to be a necromancer"> Ka-Vara muttered in jel as he summoned a lesser daedra similar to Metosi's behind the zombies.

Metosi's red eyes burned with an inner fire, a glee for combat unexpected in a mage burning within the dark elf! Straightening, he concentrated for a moment, entering a trance and reciting a litany of incantations to achieve a boost upon his next spell, one of a more offensive nature! Even as he began his incantations, his summon growled at the unthinking zombies, who groaned and moaned but moved as slow as a rheumatic elder. Lowering upon it's front paws, the beast jumped upon the nearest zombie to its master, maw wide and aiming for the zombie's skull. Metosi's eyes opened as he finished his Incantations and he recited the flowing words for a spell of lightning! He flung his hand out, aiming for the lead zombie of the rear group, hoping his spell would have a knockback effect and spill his cohorts to the ground and cut off any slow, but deadly, reinforcements.

A necromancer? Well that was surprising, they weren't exactly sent to foil his plans as much they had arrived on a whim but whatever. Shinon immediately retreated back to let his allies do the close combat fighting and looked for the Necromancer. It would've been nice to take out the source but it looked like they would have to break through the zombies first. He quickly took a shot at the closest zombie, aiming for where it would do the most damage.

(No Magicka is lost on this spell attempt, gain 1 blue next time you attempt a Summon Lesser Daedra this encounter)

Lighting fanned out from Metosis hands, jumping and flowing through two of the undead, one dropping to the ground and the other twitching while smoking. His summoned Deadra leaped towards the other zombies, but failed to land a solid attack.

Shinon fired an ace shot, Striking the smoking Zombie in the head, dropping it. Though the well placed shot was taxing, he was still ready for the next move.
(1 strain damage).

Qa'Ra Ran up to a zombie and landed a blow it its head, Dropping it instantly with a low thump. He then gained his balance and looked to his next target.

The zombies moved forward, a group of two moved in on Qa'Ra, but he managed to slip there grips. The now lone zombie who lost his two companions moved up to Ka-Varas, moaning hungerly.

"Damn!" Ka-Vara said as his spell failed. But on the bright side, he hadn't lost any magika and would most likely do better next time. But now that 1 of the zombies had reached Ka-Vara, there was no more time to summon daedra. Instead, Ka-Vara drew his 2nd mace and attacked the zombie where it was most vulnerable.

Actions: Draw 2nd mace and go to town on any zombie foolish enough to get too close.

Shinon flexed his hand a little, the drain was well rewarded by the satisfaction of seeing the zombie drop down to the ground dead. Deader? Eh, disregarding the living and dying process of zombies Shinon took aim at one of the two zombies assailing Qa'Ra. This was going better than he expected, at least as long as the firing range didn't attack him back that was. Where was that necromancer? Conjuring more zombies or perhaps preparing a more direct attack?

Metosi once again began his incantations, the words now coming easier and more fluid. It had been a long time since he'd use so much Destruction magic in succession, but he enjoyed watching his undead foes fall. He nodded in approval as a crack shot from Shinon dropped the smoking zombie and he figured Ka-Vara didn't need the assistance of a spell, now wielding both of his heavy maces and bearing down on the lone zombie that was the sole survivor from the first trio. The energy crackled in the air as he took at at the same zombie that Shinon now shot his arrow. His summoned Daedric wolf creature attacked the other zombie that Qa'Ra tangled with, lunging at the shuffling thing's leg with deadly fangs. While he'd love to take heart in such a quick defeat of the monsters, Metosi knew that this necromancer would be showing his face all too soon after his constructs were destroyed.

With a flash of lightning, twang of a bow, thud of a mace, and a roundhouse-kick finisher; the zombies where struck down and now lay on the floor motionless. Though not satisfied by the bludgeoning, Ka-Vara knew his next strike would ring more true (next One-handed check he gains 1 extra yellow).

After a moment of silence the voice come down onto them from above. "Not the common rabble I see... I am going to need your flesh to replenish the bodies you ruined. Come up then heroes, I have something for you..."

Qa'Ra looked up and growled as he looked up and straightened his steel knuckles.

Completely ignoring the necromancer's words, Ka-Vara turned to Metosi. "Is your curiosity satisfied yet?" the argonian asked the dunmer "All we've found in this tower is a small undead infestation and some random necromancer who thinks himself a big enough threat to have heroes sent after him when in reality, he's an incompetent fool we simply stumbled on by chance. Once again, I say we forget this place and get on with our quest. There's nothing here but more traps that we don't even have to spring".

Shinon frowned, "Incompetent fool may be too strong of words. He could still be a danger to defenseless travelers and given time he might amass an army of sufficient danger to cause a threat. We should take care of him now." Shinon said confidently, he felt good after destroying the zombies. They could leave but he didn't feel comfortable leaving a danger to innocents behind him. Besides, perhaps he would have some more credit with the collage if he could tell them he had helped dispatch a Necromancer.

Metosi was glad that Shinon shared his own sentiments, with a similar gleam of ambition in his eye. The dark elf wanted the reputation taking down the renegade necromancer would bring, but even more so, any magical items the man might possess! Metosi's fingers twitched slightly at the thought, not caring one whit about the gold that might also be hidden in a mage's hoard. No, he wanted a tome, a staff, soul gems, enchanted jewelry, anything that might further his already prodigious arcane gifts and would help finish this job all the quicker. And with Ka-Vara so unwilling to continue, Metosi was confident he would have first claim of any loot they did chance upon, seeing as exploring the tower had been his own suggestion! Taking a moment before he responded to his companions, Metosi chanted a long series of incantations, faintly glowing from the extra power the rolling language afforded him.

"Even incompetent fools can kill by chance, Ka-Vara. What if a traveling Argonian chanced upon this tower and had the same idea as we did? Could you say that you wouldn't be revolted that some necromancer defiled their corpse? I wish to continue, as does our wily friend here. What say you?" Metosi had been walking as he said all this, reaching the foot of the stairs as he asked Ka-Vara what he wished to do. One hand on a post to push back in case of a sudden attack, Metosi warily looked up to the top of the stairs.

Maneuver and Action: Uses Incantations and moves to the foot of the stairs, peering upwards to check for immediate danger.

To Metosi, the top of the stairs where empty and voice of movement and sound. Though he saw a light mist or fog hang in the air.

The only sound heard from above was a low maniacal laughing.

Once again, the argonian battlemage found himself out numbered. Oh well, the necromancer would probably have valuable loot on his person that could be sold for sweet rolls. "Very well" Ka-Vara said before he began climbing up the stairs. As he climbed, he put away one of his maces and used his free hand to summon a lesser daedra at the top of the stairs.

Shinon silently followed his companion up the stairs, somewhat wary of the traps that the argonian had warned of. If the necromancer was as he incompetent as he seemed it was unlikely he would have any traps set up. Still that didn't mean he planned on plundering into any of them and he cautiously looked for both traps and any sign of more enemies, ready to fire at a moments notice.

Metosi followed closely behind Shinon, once again mumbling a string of arcane words underneath his breath, not to be heard by the necromancer who obviously lay in wait above. This was the second time he'd used the string of incantations and its potent effects could not be amplified any more than the dark elf had managed. Even so, he felt himself brimming with power and motioned with a sharp jerk of the chin at his summons, which bounded up the stairs past Shinon and Ka-Vara, using its lithe form to snake past the others and come into the second level of the tower. How many more enemies did the companions have to face before coming upon the denizen of this forsaken building? The answer would come soon enough, of that Metosi was certain. He felt as prepared as he could be, wondering what could this unseen spellcaster throw at the group.

The top of the stairs the new Dedra came into being, taking on a similar wolf like appearance as Metosis. The next floor is filled with light, shining from a few windows and holes in the walls. across the room is the stairway up, beside it along the wall is an old book shelf. In the centre of the room lies a table with a figure draped in a white blanket.

Shinon pointed his bow at the figure on the table cautiously. "Anyone want to poke it" he asked somewhat rhetorically, as he kept a close eye on the still figure. "Like the minion?" after all it was expendable so it made sense to command it to lead the way. He wondered what the books were on, most likely necromancy but perhaps there might be a few more general purpose texts regarding mysticism. Books were expensive so Shinon never got a chance to do much reading, at least they might be able to sell them

Pausing for a moment, the dark elf concentrated, feeling the ever present sense of magicka and drawing in the natural stores of the energy all around him to replenish some of the magick he'd expended before. Metosi followed warily behind the others, keeping an eye on the floorboards for magical traps. He crossed the room, keeping his summons between him and the covered figure. "Just make sure to shoot in both the eye sockets, Shinon. I'll leave you the honors of 'poking' it," Metosi's cheery smile showed that he meant nothing by it and continued on his way to the bookshelf. He wondered if there'd be any tomes of spells that he and Ka-Vara could learn and then in turn sell for quite the profit. Hopefully they could get more than a single use before the book was dispelled. In any case, Metosi would point out that he had been the one to fund Ka-Vara and not force the others to cut on their own supplies to feed the Argonian. The dark elf sincerely hoped it wouldn't come to that Keeping an ever-ready eye on the covered figure, he came abreast to the bookcase and began scanning its shelves for any useful items of any kind, but particularly those of a magical nature.

Maneuver and Action: Use Leylines to restore magicka the number of ranks of Leyline(1)- Magicka 9/15 and walk across room to the bookcase, searching for valuables.

Without a word, Ka-Vara approached the covered figure with both his maces drawn. A powerful zombie was probably lying under there so it would be wise to get the 1st hit off before it began its attack. When he reached the figure, Ka-Vara began to pound on the figure's skull like there was no tomorrow. When it comes to the undead, it's better safe than sorry.

Actions: Draw both maces and go to town on the covered figure's head.

With two sickening thuds the maced came down and turned to mush the figured head. The white covering started to turn a sickly yellow-red-green combination. The body jerked slightly then laid still.

Meanwhile Metosi looked over the bookcase briefly, seeing a strange looking gem shimmering a pale blue. Besides that some old mouldy books stared back at him.

Then the voice came down on them again. "How very quick to act are we, a little paranoid perhaps? How about you come up to me. I have a surprise for you."
