I don't even know how you interpreted that to mean you. Not to be rude or anything, but I was clearly talking about myself.

Because you used parenthesis around a phrase and made it indirect but forget about it. I'm not going to argue about something so trivial.

What confused me is why he used parenthesis around "self-proclaimed".

In this context, they're used as though they are saying "Despite being self-proclaimed".

I wonder if given the circumstances, if I could have the student be much older (but still considered a "first year") in the dark dorm, and all duels are "Scripted" to get him close enough to winning but he'll just surrender anyways. That being said, the character's not going to improve his deck at all, so he has to start off with a pretty OP Deck :C

You know how well that worked with Doc but I guess you can give it a shot. At least you won't have some creeper that looks like he's a raging pervert. Certainly worth trying, but I anticipate the result will be no.

For all intensive purposes, it's more of a side character with a story really.

Still in the drawing board phase, but here's a card for you.

Name: Negativity Reflector

Trap type: Counter

Effect: Activate this only when a card's negative effect affects your side of the field, hand or graveyard. Reverse those effects to affect your opponent instead.

With annoying OP cards like Crush Card Virus that's where that card would work great for. Though with Ring of Destruction that card could become an OTK easily.

Bad. Just bad. This is not even 'drawing board' I'd say, more like 'idea for card effect.' Drawing board at least implies you've actually consider the possibility of this card being used as a card.
So a few things to note right off the bat:
1. There is no cost to this counter-trap card, meaning it's essentially a free negation of any detrimental card, and acts as a costless version of the card it negated.
2. There is no limitation text on the use of this card, so it can be used multiple times per turn, as well as can be used under any condition in response to a card effect as it requires no particular cards on field, or similar conditions of gamestate.
3. "negative effect" what does this imply? Is forcing you to discard a card but also letting you draw a card considered a negative effect? What about sending a monster from the graveyard back into your deck? Or forcing you to special summon from your hand? This is a very vague, and way too open conditional.
4. Design with OP in mind? As is, are you creating a card which is so good it must be limited/semi-limited? Personally I see it as a sign of bad card creating when trying to make a card that is meant to be restricted to 'balance' the card out.

Yeah I know, it would probably be forbidden due to Ring of Destruction.

It's more than just Ring of Destruction. It's far too vague to use in a concrete manner. When creating Yugioh cards, always consider each word in the effect. Trust me, the way you word effects greatly affects cards.

Try looking up examples from already-existing cards (not banned ones, obviously).

Since Overload Summon was lazily written allow me to rewrite that card in better language.

Name: Overload Summon

Spell type: Normal

Effect: During your Main Phase send the number of cards to the graveyard as listed under the LV/RK of the monster you are trying to summon using this card's effect ignoring said card's summoning conditions. That summon is treated as a Special Summon. When that monster is destroyed in battle or leaves the field remove it from play.

1-2: One Card
3-4: Two Cards
5-6: Three Cards
7-8: Four Cards
9-10: Five Cards
11-12: Six Cards

I doubt this one would be allowable, but still I could see this card being made for the game. Where it does have quite a negative effect that can kill you it also gives you the ability to special summon a powerful monster to the field at the beginning of a duel which is why this card would end up on the Forbidden list. But I still wanted to share this one nonetheless.

Yeah it'll definitely end up forbidden. Simply discarding your hand isn't enough of a drawback for a lvl 10+ monster.

@Scarifar how do my Maju cards seem?

I tried to stick to the theme of high attack, low control. Making their extra deck monsters impossible to beat in battle, but offer no actual damage. But easily destroyed by card effects. Oh and magic cylinder.

It's... difficult to say about the Maju Garzetts. My gut tells me that some cards seem unbalanced, yet my brain tells me that maybe I'm overthinking some things.

My op-onions on the cards (calling them by number because on phone)

1. More like Lesser Cyber Dragon.

2. Holy poop snacks. Lets assume I'm playing inmatos with that card. I cherry into 2 inmatos and get mystic tomato out. That's an easy 3k. If trains existed in TCG, 9k damage. Consistently. Hell, you don't even need trains. Just tragodia/exodius, or whatever they're called.

3. No clue what a level 9 tuner can be used for. Phone is too bum to look.

4. More like more OP Lava Golem. Holy hell. That's absurd removal.

5. Making it a direct attack is okay. Like a tuner-fader. Half LP is pretty crazy, tho.

6. I think this is fine.

7. Never. Too many lives.

8. Can not be destroyed by battle. Up to 3500 ATK with 5 attacks. I know it'll be hard to put it on the field but what the duck.

9. More cannot be destroyed by battle. This ruins proud independent monster decks who don't need no S/T.

@The Grey Dust 1. Good.

2. Oh shit, what the fuck? Yeah, basically what Silver said. That's... That's a really powerful effect.

3. Erm. There's literally not a single use in the entire game for a level 9 tuner. No 10 or above synchro monster would require just 1 material, and those that would I'd dare say would be pretty OP. I mean, I guess you could get out star eater with it +2 level 1's. That's about it. The effect itself... Erm. Same dealio with Scar, I've got a gut feeling this one's a little bonkers yet my brain says "nah dawg, iz good."

4. ^. That's some bonkers removal you've got there.

5. Make the ATK equal to the battle damage you took.

6. Yeah, that's a fine card.

7. NO.

8. Das a contact fusion. You know how contact fusions go here. Can't allow it as a contact fusion for now, and in that case, the card actually becomes stronger. Perfect 6 card opener? The above happens. nope.avi.

9. Ooooh. This is what the tuner's used for. Level 9's still too high, tho. The card itself seems actually fine to me tho.

Name: Unstable Maju Garzett
Level/rank: 4
Attribute: Dark
Monster Type(s): Fiend
Effect: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must be Special Summoned by its own effect, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Requires 2 Tributes from either side of the field to Special Summon to that side of the field (cannot be Normal Set), then shift control to this card's owner during the End Phase of the next turn. If Summoned this way, this card's controller Targets 1 Monster in the Graveyard that was Tributed; this card's name becomes that target's name, and this card gains that target's effects (if any). This card's ATK is each equal to the number of cards in your graveyard x 300.
ATK/DEF ?/0

I dislike this card... I mean its worse then Icarus in a swarm deck. Jesus christ.

1. Yes, lesser Cyber Dragon...

2. Still a tribute summon, requiring field set up and unless you tribute a Maju monster, it's not even as good as Legendary Maju Garzett assuming most monsters are lvl 3+ monsters have at least 900 attack, Even a lvl 10 monster just needs 3k attack to be better.

3. Yeah, the lvl 9 tuner is supposed to make it hard to abuse and splash into a deck, but then again, it's sort of exclusive to Maju's unless you discard it and SS it. It's just some field presence required as destruction of Majus end up very costly for you since you devote a lot of resources to your big beatsticks. Fortunately it banishes itself to prevent it from being over used from the graveyard, and also to power up Eiza.

4. Yes it's Lava Golem, originally was tribute "1" then I thought, well that becomes really OP because with tribute "2" I'd need to at least be facing 2 monsters for it to become a lava golem. Should I make it require 3 tributes to make it even more difficult to summon?

5. Half LP at 4k starting LP? it's 2k attack. Plus it's a constant effect, so any LP damage that your opponent takes effectively lowers its attack. If it was equal to the battle damage you took, then it could get really absurd attack points. But it's your call.

6. Great.

7. Remove it from the field using Non-destruction effects. Namely things that send to graveyard, shuffle into deck, return to hand or banish. Alternatively, use cards that remove XYZ material from it which do exist. But yes I can admit that it can become a problem very quickly if you can't take care of it. But then again it can only attack once per turn and does no battle damage, so the easiest way to deal with this card is to summon no monsters and force it to use up Material.

8. This one actually has battle damage. So 3500 attack, with a perfect 6 hand combo, but leaves no backrow support and can be removed from the field by card effects easily. And can attack 7 monsters, no piercing damage to remove defense position monsters and nothing it can do if it encounters effect monsters, and more importantly, players are not monsters.

9. Yes, this is what the tuner is for. Those independent monsters that don't need no S/T? Well those Heavy Samurai can go suck on these Sandals.
