~Unending Beat!~

The madder red hue of the sunset bathed the Afterlife once more. It happened many times before and would happen again for all eternity, as long as there was need for unaccomplished souls to be cleansed of their earthly burdens, this place would exist. Or so was the belief of a certain lone girl that even now played the majestic piano that decorated the music room.

The Sonata, aptly named "Tempest" was a portent of things to come and an greeting for those who would soon be joining the Afterlife, her domain for as much as the girl could remember. "It's about time, can you feel it as well? All their pain, their suffering?" She said, without taking a look behind her, or even caring to open her eyes, to another girl that had just arrived behind her, how she noticed it was a wonder, since the only sound on the red bathed room was that of her play. Or, perhaps not, after all weren't gods meant to be omniscient beings?

"Please, greet them in my stead." The girl pleaded as her fingers slid effortless across the keyboard, the moment she reached the climax of the piece...

• • •

"Huh? Where am I?" A girl with long brown hair held in place with a golden bow, groaned painfully as she woke up with the worst headache she felt in her whole life. Perhaps, said head ache had something to do with the fact that she seemed to have fallen asleep on nothing but a hard concrete pavement.

"No, the problem is why am I here, no matter where this is. After last thing I remember is..." Harumi trailed out, recalling the scene vividly as if it had happened a minute ago. Two men, dressed as police officers, forced her into a cruiser and took her to a bridge near the city limits, chocked her and... something else, before leaving her to die on the frozen waters of the mid-winter river. "I should be dead, and cold and soaked to the bones. Nothing of this makes sense, was I dreaming? Or is this another one of ***-kun's dirty acts?" Harumi wondered of what she had gone through her whole life wasn't enough suffering.

Looking around, Harumi noticed that she was at some kind of school campus with the setting sun quickly splashing its raspberry hues over the building, in the distance a few heavy clouds loomed over the distant mountains, portent of an oncoming storm. She spared the time to look at herself and find that she was dressed in an uniform that she didn't even remembered wearing before. There was no one on her immediate vicinity, though the girl —Harumi Shizuka— could see what looked like silhouettes moving to a big building on the other side of a bridge that was barely visible from where she was because of the early evening darkness.

"Anyway, dilly-dallying will do me nothing. I might as well go there and see what I can find about this place." With that in mind, Harumi go back to her feet (at long last) and set towards the Annex, hoping to get there before the oncoming storm hits the academy grounds.

Akira Hato

"Can you say those words... one more time?
Please let me believe what you believe...
Let me believe that life is wonderful."

"DON'T!"

Akira stood up in a cold sweat. He looked around, curious about where he was at, and for some reason worried. Worried... About what? Akira couldn't remember. He tried to think but... Nothing. Nothing came to mind. All there was in his head was... Instincts? Something about himself, he knew that much. He knew his name. He was Akira Hato. He knew... He knew this dress he was wearing was cute, but could use some accessories. He wonder where he got this uniform, and if this is what all the boys wear.

There was also Akira's surroundings. It looked like he was at some sort of boarding school, and it was getting late. Clouds were rolling in and they looked like rain clouds. There where mountains in the distance, and thick fog beyond that. It was kinda creepy actually; looking around, it seemed like there was a thick fog all around the area except the school. Perhaps it was just the weather. "Where am I?"

Standing on his feet Akira walked towards the school buildings. While he wasn't certain what school he was at, or why he was even here, his most concerning issue was getting out of the coming storm, and maybe finding a bathroom. Since he awoke on the floor he must be dirty, and that was not cool. He needed to wash up and make sure he was looking his best! With any luck perhaps he could also fight a costume room or wherever the school keeps their spare uniforms, give himself some options to improve his wardrobe.

"Honestly, who would leave me laying in the dirt like that anyways? The nerve of some people!"

"I'm glad, I will no longer have to suffer this fate of mine."

Those were the final thoughts of Akemi before she died, all she wanted was to escape that torturous world that she had lived in. Her life was what was leading her to make her decision, no matter what she said, it would not matter in the final thoughts of her parents. Before Akemi closed her eyes to pass on, she could see her parents running towards her, then closing her eyes to allow her to pass on. The pain that she had held for all of these years, it had finally allowed her to have the courage to do such a thing. Akemi was only hoping that she had actually died though, it was the one thing that she wished for. Eventually, Akemi opened her eyes and sat up, looking around at the surroundings.

"I-I'm supposed to be dead..." Akemi said as her eyes had widened, she was hugging her knees close to her chest, tears starting to form in her eyes from fear and sadness. "Why am I not dead...?" Akemi said as her voice had started to break, she then stood up from the ground, looking towards the main building of the school. She put a hand to her stomach, where it was extremely sore from what she did earlier. Akemi grit her teeth as more tears had fallen from her eyes, she just wanted to stomp on the ground without causing a scene, despite her crying and all. She took a looked over towards the students entering the school, she then looked to her own uniform, which actually seemed to be a different one from them.

"Did they drop me off at the wrong school? And where is this?" Akemi said as she looked around once again, the school looked as if it was in isolation with all of the trees and empty plains. "My parents may come back, and try to make me marry that monster. I need to prevent that." Akemi said as she grit her teeth, rushing into the school and trying to find at least something to help end her suffering. Once Akemi was inside the building she stopped running and stood there, starting to hear a beautiful tune in her ears.

A... piano...?

The Crusades In The Afterlife Of Sakura Aoba; Volume 1

Something at the back of my head compelled me to stand up. Well, it was at the back of my head and at the mouth of my stomach, to be more precise.

I can't seem to remember the last time I ate.

"Welp, I don't plan on being that guy that died because he didn't eat when he was supposed to. I should go out and get myself some instant ramen or something."

I put my arms on the ground and impulse myself upwards.

What's odd is that my surroundings are crispy clear. Did I sleep with my glasses on? If so, I'm becoming more of an idiot than I thought at first.

Speaking of, where the hell am I anyway? Is this, perhaps, the mystic land known as the outside world? The world past the door of my room? I never thought I'd see it again... At least not this month.

In any case, where the hell is this? This is a school, sure, but not MY school. By the looks of it, someone also stuffed me into some kind of uniform.

Oh! I get it!

"I'm dreaming. Of course I'm dreaming." I say to myself and shake my head. "This is no time to be sleeping though. I could either die of not having ate enough for this whole month OR my mom will come by my room and see what kind of huge mess it is. Both would be equally bad."

Then, I need to, I dunno, jump off some kind of high building or something? Will it work if I pinch myself?

I decided to give it a try and pinch my right arm. "Ouch!" I let out.

Nah, it didn't work.

"Hum... then I'd better go look for someone, not to mention that it seems about to rain. And so, the crusade begins to wake up from my sleep before my mom comes around and kills me! Or my hunger kills me! Or whatever comes first! I should also see if there's a cafeteria or something... Will I feel satisfied if I ate in a dream?" I fold my arms over my chest. "Only one way to find out!"

I start running towards the school building in front of me and stuff both of my hands in the pocket of the jacket I'm wearing. Good thing this is a dream, cause I don't have any money.

A day dead: day 1

oh god what the hell happened? Shiba groaned out rubbing his head as he sat up realizing he was on top of a building. This wasn't the first time Shiba would wake up on a roof somewhere honestly the booze can do crazy things sometimes. Shiba slowly got up thinking that he might be hungover but in reality his head just hurt but that was a simple reason since anyone who slept on a roof would have something hurt. Shiba looked around and went to the railing nearby and looked out to see he was actually on top of a school building of all things. The odd thing was that Shiba has never seen this school before but maybe he was supposed to be here? Maybe his parents transferred him to another school although it was doubtful that he would have changed school unless this one was more prestigious.

Shiba then noticed that he had on some strange uniform it was completely black which was actually nice but how did he even get it to begin with? did he steal these cloths from someone else as a drunken prank? Well it didn't matter Shiba needed answers that much was certain so he would need to find someone probably a principle to start sucking up to saying how he will have fun here and enjoy school life like it was rehearsed but in reality was ready to give every teacher the middle finger because he wants to. Shiba then started to walk down the stairs nearby to look for some adult or whoever could give him answers...

✦✧✦Kanadeko✧✦✧

Strolling along, umbrella in hand, Kanadeko walked with her 'friends' along the long dirt path leading up the large school in the distance. Out of the group, she was easily the most talkative, her 'friends' barely said a word, let alone did anything out of routine. Walking along, getting ever closer to the school, thought began to bubble in her mind. How long had it been since she had been going to school, it seemed like forever from what she could remember.

*Sigh* Night classes, are so totally the worst! Right guys? Yelped Kanadeko rapidly turning her head to the sides for a response. Yeah... I know what you mean, so totally bombs, looks like it's gunna rain too! What a mega giant bummer guys! Pushing her lips together she began to whistle as she walked with her silent partners. You guys' really don't say much do ya? I never really noticed until now. Welp lets' hurry on back to school!

Akio looked out over the school from his seat on the edge of the school cafeteria. He rather enjoyed watching the hues of the sky change from blues to reds and yellows. Quite relaxing and peacefull. He closed his eyes and layed back next to the violin case that rested beside him, contemplating what to play. Akio loosed a small sigh and dismissed the idea of a sad song. If he was going to play something it should be something that he would want his sisters to enjoy, even though they never hear it... Akio rubbed his left temple in thought, just about to decide on a song when he heard the sound of the piano floating across the school. The same tune he had heard when he had arrived in this bizzare place a week ago. "Must be someone else joining this strange world..." Akio sat up, swaying side to side as the sounds washed over him, flowing his thoughts. Slowly he opened his violins case and took out the instrument. It was a bright red mahogany with a crystal finish, and the bow was a darker oak. A quick brush a rosin to his bow and he was ready. Slowly Akio stood just as the pianos melody began to fade. Slowly he began to play his own song, one he had written himself. As he played, he thought of his sisters he had left behind, his dreams that would never come true, and the friends he never had. Perhaps he could find that here. Maybe not the way he had wanted, but in other ways...

Rikka

Ambulances and police sirens echoed over the darkend city they could be heard through every street in the city. What happened? Why was she on the ground like this and why couldn't she move her body anymore. Rikka tried looking around but to could only move her eyes a little and even that hurted her head enormously. Wasn't she with one of her classmates. She was pretty sure someone was with her. But she couldn't think up on who it was again. Where were they? Aren't friends suppose to watch over each other. Well whatever, sleeping will fix this bad dream.

Cold...

The body of the unconscious girl trembled from the cold. She instinctively curled up in a small ball as she wrapped her arms around her body in reaction. She shivered once more as her eyes shot open. Rikka shot up to a sitting position and placed her hands on the cold wet dirt as way to support her. A flash of light entered her eyes almost blinding the girl with a distinctive headache following instantly after. One of her hands shot up at her head and was place upon her forehead. With one eye open she searched around her.

Need to save senpai...

Rikka gazed around her one more time but couldn't find her classmate anywhere. Where was she? She doesn't recognise this place in any way and she was sure there was a giant building right next to her. Rikka let her head drop and placed both her hands onto her eyes as she lifted her knees up.

Too tired for this, I should go home. Wait where is home...

Rikka gazed around her even more and gave a tired sigh. Eventually she noticed her guitar was gone too. What if she lost the guitar her parents were so proud off. She would be getting in huge trouble if that were to happen. Rikka immediately got up and looked around on the school grounds. This wasn't remotely close to her house to her knowledge and for some reason they thought it was funny to swap out her clothes. Well maybe they were just being nice and gave her a pair of dry clothes and left her to die on some random school on the cold ground. Rikka started to run around the area where she had woken up and searched through multiple bushes. She didn't even listen to the beautiful piano play that sounded from a nearby classroom and was entirely focused on the finding of her guitar.

Where... Where is it... It can't be gone like that!

A cold wind past by the bare legs of the girl and a shiver of goosebumps followed. Maybe it was useless after all and she just lost it. What will she tell her parents. Oops I lost my guitar after having fallen asleep in some random school grounds. Well it was original but her parents would decline it and be sad. Either way it wasn't gonna help to get sick so she couldn't perform again. With her arms hanging she shuffled inside of the school to find some help and something warm to eat or drink. She was covered in scrapes and all from the bushes and her clothing was ripped apart and cold even though she only just got it from a random person.

I should call home... I'm not gonna make it for dinner no matter how fast I run.

She felt her pockets but couldn't find her phone anymore. Neither could she find her wallet or keys or anything else she had stuffed into her pockets. A blank state of mind overwhelmed the girl.

I'm dead... My parents are gonna kill me...

She had to find someone or something that could help her get home. Going home was priority number one right now. That was it! She was just gonna go to the staff of the school to report she was lost and didn't belong here and maybe they would point her to a nearby bus or something. Rikka clasped her fist and open hand together before lightly jogging around the school to find the facility office.

Hiyori felt the cold slab of cement and the slow whistle of the wind brushing against her skin, indicating a storm was coming, before opening her eyes. The smile already plastered on her face widened at the thought of rain. Without even seeing, Hiyori could tell most of her surrounding by using her other senses. Being born blind seemed to do that to a person. Sighing, she let her eyelids peel open. There wasn’t any point in doing it though, she could function with or without her eyes open.

Instead of the endless void of darkness that haunted her vision, an eruption of color overloaded Hiyori’s senses. She shut her eyes to escape from the blinding color. How could she see? Where was she? Hundreds of questions flooded through her mind but only one thought surfaced.

I died..

Flashes of the deafening buzzing sound ringing against her ears and the hundreds of pricks that followed and then nothing. After all that agony and pain, a swarm of bees had ended it all? But where was she now? And oh her eyes…

Hiyori snuck a peek again and her eyes flickered open. Describing what she saw was impossible. Shades of colors she could only guess names to colored her dark world. All Hiyori could do was gasp at the beauty of it all. Tears cascaded down her face. It was wonderful.

Standing up, Hiyori stepped toward the nearest place. After feeling around, she came to the conclusion that she was in a garden. She crouched down and sniffed a flower, inhaling the sweet scent of it. Seeing what she had smelled and felt for years was overwhelming and she couldn’t help as a wave of tears crushed down her face and she began bawling.

Whatever thoughts and motives driving the young individuals who found themselves in this strange new world, other forces at work would serve to move them in certain directions. As the new students of the school were wandering around, perhaps even meeting with one another, the crackle of an old PA system kicked to life and soon a voice was broadcasted over the entire school ground.

“Oh ho! Attention everyone! There’s gonna be a big, big storm hitting our noble academy soon so we recommend everyone buckle down and head towards the shelter your oh so lovely Student President has made just for you. Hurry up cause I heard they’re serving spicy rice tonight for dinner. Oh ho, so spicy!”

With that, the PA system crackled off and soon enough the winds began to become much more turbulent. As if the voice on the other end had been some sort of prophecy teller, the sky began to dark considerably and a light drizzle of rain poured down. Teachers began to run out, gathering students in bundles and leading them towards the school’s shelter facility. Even the new students who found themselves to be wandering on the academy grounds would be approached by nameless, faceless teachers who urged them to get to safety.

Once there, the students would find themselves lingering in a huge auditorium-like structure that pretty much looked like a massive school gym. True to the voice’s word, numerous booths were set up and serving spicy rice in large helpings. Other stands were set up with the intention of getting students to join the numerous clubs and whatnot. In short, it was nothing more than organized chaos.

Shiba sighed when he heard the announcement by the intercom and it was odd how the call went out exactly before the storm got worse. Unfortunately that meant that Shiba would be forced to their shelter or whatever passed for one and he also didn't like spicy food. Shiba was soon spotted by a teacher and he was going to ask said teacher about where he was but the teacher wouldn't have it he just ushered Shiba along with a bunch of other student wearing the same uniform. Shiba had no clue why he seemed normal to the rest of them usually people are suspicious or fascinated by a new student but they didn't pay him any mind. As Shiba was ushered by the teacher and the rest of the students he looked around to see their were booths for clubs and as the announcer said their was spicy food nearby to eat. Shiba wasn't sure what to do so he decided he would wait and see everyone else and see what happens. Honestly Shiba would have to go back to his old habits of study study study for his parents and go out to parties on the side if things played out normally...

Tetsuya Nakano

Rain danced across Tetsuyas' face as he awoke from his unannounced slumber. Just in time, as well, as he caught the end of the broadcast alerting students of the up and coming storm. He stood, and immediately felt the most unbearable headache, forcing him to sit back down again. After doing so, he was able to full look around the surrounding area. He wore an odd and completely unfamiliar uniform, belong to a school he didn't recognise. He looked across the nearby area of the massive campus, but no matter how hard he racked his brain he couldn't figure out where the school was in relation to his home. The school uniform was odd, and a school complex this big would have been on the news as some point, right? He dug his hand into his pocket to find his phone to figure out his location, but nothing he normally kept in his school blazer was in the new uniform; not his phone, wallet, pen knife - nothing.

After standing back up, an unfamiliar teacher approached him as if he was a normal student, telling him to get to the shelter. Tetsuya had almost forgotten that it was raining, and by the time he did the rain had picked up significantly. Why does this guy think I'm a student? I am wearing the uniform and all, but he must know he's never seen me before, right? he thought, standing and following the teacher towards the shelter; a teacher that didn't say a word the entire trip. On the way, he Tetsuya began thinking, about what could have led to him waking up at some random school wearing the uniform and without any of his belongings. Was he knocked flat on his ass and put in a coma, or did he just fall asleep after- no, he couldn't have. The last thing he remembered was picking the letter out of his locker and wondering what to do about it. He was a cautious man, yes, but an opportunity like a girlfriend was something he wouldn't let by so easily. He lost himself in thought so much, he didn't realise he had arrived at the shelter, and that no body seemed to care. Every other time a new student was seen in school people would be with them, asking questions etcetera. Not this time however, since all the students kept about their business without a care. Most of them didn't even seem concerned that there was a storm of unknown proportion outside. Apparently even the teachers didn't care that the storm was going on, or their students well being. The guy that came to get him seemed honestly dead inside, like a shit protagonist from an anime or something.

As he stood around, he kept wondering about why he was where he was. He wasn't hungry, so he hadn't gone to get any rice, and all the clubs seemed rather dull. The only thing Tetsuya could think to do was wait for the storm to blow over so he could ask questions to either the head or the Student Council President. One of those must have had answers to his questions, provided they weren't dead shells like game NPCs. Maybe that was it; he was dreaming that he was in some game and everyone was just NPCs created to make the world seem alive and inhabited. Except one thing - some students, in clothing very similar to that of the "NPCs", walked around looking either confused or different. Like they had souls and were truly living characters, much unlike that dead eyed bodies that walked around the hall. He kept surveying from the side of the hall where he stood leaning against the wall, with his leg angled for support and his arms crossed.

The Crusades Of Sakura Aoba In The Afterlife; Volume 1 Continuation

"Hey you! Get to the shelter, quickly! An storm's about to pass!" An adult, who I believe is a teacher, approaches me.

"Shelter..." There was food in there. FREE food.

Not a bad idea, if you ask me.

"Right away, sir!" I say to him and then bow. Even if it is a dream, I should still show proper respect for the authority.

I turn around and head for the shelter... wait... "Um, where's the shelter?"

The teacher guy told me that I should follow the other students. Though I loathed the fact that I had to get in a crowd, dream it might be, I still followed them all the way to the shelter and got a plate of that spicy rice.

These guys get me. Spicy rice that stings the tongue.

"Delicious." I say as I finish the last spoonful of my plate. I wolfed it down with terrible manners due to my hunger.

"Now, what should I do? Approach someone and tell them if they can pinch me? Wouldn't that be kind of, I dunno, odd? What do I say? 'Hey, I'm dreaming, could you pinch me please?' No... too embarrassing." I shake my head, but wait... what am I saying? "I'm basically talking to my subconscious. All right, let's give it a shot!"

I turn on my heel and then approach someone from behind. "Excuse me, may you please pinch my arm? I do believe I am dreaming and I am in quite a hurry to get up and get my room in order. Otherwise, mom'll kill me!"

✦✧✦Kanadeko, Akira, And The Mysterious Musician✧✦✧

Upon entering the school grounds, Kanadeko stopped midway between the doors. The sound of elegant piano could be heard. Finding it odd as she was unaware if there were any music classes or an auditorium. Come to think of it, there was very little she knew about her school. Strange, she had only been thinking of such things recently. Accompanying this performance was a familar stringed instrument that suited eachother almost perfectly. Attempting to stop her 'friends', she shouted at them;Guys! Do you hear that?! I didn't know we had a music club!

The omnipotent beings simply ignored the girl. With a huff she angrily yelled at them. You guys are so totally the worst today! Why don't you ever listen to me?! D-don't just walk away from me!
With a sigh, Kanadeko gave up with them, she guessed that there was no reasoning with them. Looking up at the major staircase, it was if she was being lead by the music. Madly dashing towards the source of the sounds, she made it to the roof. Behind the door was her mystery musician. The source of this new found melody. Grasping upon the bronze door handle, she turned it to reveal an unfamiliar face. The tall guy didn't appear to have noticed her presence, so she simply scimppered off closer, sitting on the ground with her legs crossed as she listened to his song.

Kanadeko wasn't the only one who heard the song. Wandering the halls, Akira pursuit the noise. There wasn't much else for him to work off of, since for some reason or another the halls were quite empty. No students, no teachers, heck most of the power was out. It was kinda creepy. He coudln't event get a gauge of what time it is other than "Probally night time", since even all the clocks seemed to be aligned at different hours. "Honestly, such a strange school. At least there should be someone here, if that violin isn't being played by a ghost."

Akira followed the noise to the rooftop, which seemed rather suspicious to Akira. He supposed that if it was a ghost, it would have the means to kill him easily; he doubt he could survive the fall. Of course why would anyone want to kill Akira? A pange of pain shook through Akira's body, bringing him to his knees. "I wouldn't mind..." He said quietly to himself. But shortly after he forgot about it, and got back to his feet. "Urg... So much walking!"

Eventually Akira reached the rooftop and found the source of music. A mysterious musician. And it seemed like Akira wasn't the only one who was attracted to the noise; another girl was near by, listening, watching the violinist. Akira opted to stay hidden by the door and see events unfold, maybe make a dramatic entrance when the time was right.

Akio finished his song, not yet noticing his singular audience. He carefully placed his instrument within its case, snapping letter clasps together to keep them still, and placed the case upon his back. With one last glance at the vanishing sunset he let out a soft sigh and decided he should head out. Turning he spotted the girl that sat watching him. This wasn't something he was used to in this odd world, but figured he knew why she was different. "Well hello there. You must be one of the newcomers. Hopefully you've been informed of our situation? If not I'm sure that she Will arive shortly to bring you up to speed." He had that prickly sensation as if he were being watched and he looked around to see if perhaps he had another onlooker, but saw no one.

Akio let out a sort of a noted grunt. "I guess that's one way to introduce people.. We should get going." as he finished he held out a hand to help her rise.

Kanadeko tilted her head to the side in confusion, like a lost dog looking back at a stranger with food. She enjoyed his violin skills, but was confused by what he was saying. She thought maybe he was talking about some sort of new standardised testing? Shortly after he had packed up, before any chance was given for her to introduce herself, there was an announcement for all students to head for the shelter by the studen council president.

...
Who that person was, Kanadeko certainly couldn't remember. Odd, their voice didn't sound familiar at all... Regardless she jumped at the chance to talk to the mysterious boy.
I really enjoyed your song! Maybe some time we can do a duet? I don't play, but I can sing pretty well. It was as if large sparkles suddenly appeared in her eyes transforming her face into a sight akin to a puppy. But before we talk about that, we should probably head on over to the shelter!

Akira had stayed hidden, eavesdropping on the conversation. When the announcement was made that a storm was brewing and there was spicy soup, Akira shortly debated with himself. Did he want to go get some soup? Did he like spicy food? Or did he want to stick around and figure out more about these people? Neither of them really introduced themselves yet... Akira decided to leave them alone for now. It seemed like they were both musicians, so perhaps Akira can use that knowledge later. She left quietly and without a trace, heading to the location where the spicy soup was located.

Akio looked at the girl with a slight smile, he could feel his face redden slightly at the compliment on his music. "Well, I've never played with anyone else, not even with a vocalist. To be honest I've only been playing for about a week now. We should get going. Best not to be late." Akio started twords the stairwell. He debated in trying to make a friend, something he had never been quite good at. Finally he figured it was with a shot. "Perhaps we could petition to the school to start up a musical club. Not that I doubt it will be denied, but just so we're not bothered by the npc's. If youd like that is. Till then though, we should really get going, don't want you to miss your introduction to this freakshow of a place." and on that note Akio vanished down the stairwell, heading twords the destination that had been set for them.

'NPC?' What could that possibly mean, thought Kanadeko... She followed along to the shelter area.

Rikka was only able to hear the wheels of a trolley with 2 people running right next to it. Her body was cold like ice, she couldn't feel anything anymore. She opened her eyes and could only make out that two ambulance brothers were running besides her. She couldn't resist the urge to sleep again. The lights went out as someone yelled out some vague meanings about something being unstable.

Rikka stopped with running and felt her head with one of her hands for a moment. It was beating like crazy like her brain wanted to get out and run away. Rikka shook her head lightly and stumbled trying to get herself some footing again. Once she felt a bit better she continued. The door flung open with Rikka in the middle of it heavily panting. The teachers office, she had finally found it! Rikka proudly smiled but almost immediatly dropped her head in despair. No teacher in sight, maybe some location like the cafeteria was a beter idea. Just as she was about to run off again to find teachers the old Pa system crackled on. Rikka's head slowly rose up towards one of the close by speakers as she halted to a stop. It sounded like some sort of announcer that announced about the heavy storm today. In all the hurry she had completely ignored that fact. If she didn't hurt she would have to wait till tomorrow. Rikka took the advice and followed the other students towards the shelter instead.

On the way towards the shelter Rikka gave a heavy sigh and looked around her a bit and pondered. The students of this school all wore the same uniform but it was still diffrent from hers. She tried getting the attention from some of the npc's so she got to know what was up and they would definitely react back but they didn't do anything special. It was almost like they were programed. No free will and they mostly looked very ordinary. Not that she herself didn't look out of ordinary. She began to question herself why there were some students that did wear the same clothes as her. Might have been some special class she was put into or something. It would make sense for her to be put in the special class so there would be a teacher that could decrypt her signs.

Well at least they were prepared if it were to happen that she was indeed student of this school. Or so at least she thought. Maybe it was beter to approach one of the students so she would known better why she was here and why she was wearing this uniform. Now there was only one problem, conversations! Rikka approached one of the students in the diffrent kind of uniform.

He had black hair and looked rather normal, she would describe him as some sort of deliquent from the looks of his face but he didn't show anything bad as of now so she could have easily misjudged. Rikka stood in front of him and acted like her usual self. It wasn't hard to introduce yourself but it just had to come across to him. If he knew why she was acting so weird like this is might get easier to communicate. She gave a polite wave while her lips synched the word.

Hello!

Rikka waited a moment for him to understand and kept staring at him with full eager in her eyes. Rikka didn't have much time for friendly conversation so she kept it short. She placed part of her hand ontop of her chest as the gesture for 'me' and moved her lips slowly and clearly.

I'm Rikka

She wrote her name in the air at the same time she moved her lips and kept smiling patiently. O she forgot, it might be a bit weird to meet someone that suddenly gestures to you so she made a cross with her hands in front of her throat to show she couldn't talk and shook her head at the same time. Rikka pointed her finger at him while tilting her head in question.

Name?

It was gonna get tricky now, it might have been better if she took some pen and paper before she did this. She pointed at herself and at the same time at the boy and tucked lightly on the side of her own uniform.

Same clothes... Why diffrent from them.

Rikka pointed at all the other people and shrugged as to not knowing why they were wearing something diffrent then them. After a few moments she nodded her head convincingly as to how good she had explained it to the boy. Now to find something better to communicate.

The mysterious girl continued to play as the new students, one-by-one, began to wake to their Afterlives. It was as if she were playing for their very souls, the pain, the fear, their unfulfilled end, their fury, sorrow and finally... the lost joy, she could feel it all, resonating deeply within her with each stroke her delicate fingers gave to the keyboard. However, it looked like she wasn't the only one whose soul resonated with the piano's strings as even now she could feel a presence coming towards her, draw by the music just like a bee was to a flowering bud. The storm finally hit the Afterlife campus just as Akemi found herself inside the building in which the music room laid. Other students might not have been so lucky, and certainly some of them would wake up under a nice shower of an Autumn-like storm.

Akemi continued to stand there, listening to the talented piano playing, people walked past her to their own classrooms as Akemi started to try and find where this beautiful sound was coming from in the first place. Akemi could hear all of the notes being played and was fascinated overall, this was first place material in a competition that was for sure, her sweet memories of when she played in competitions came back. The song hit her really hard with the emotion that was put into it, Akemi just had to figure out where this beautiful music was coming from in the first place. Akemi ran up the stairs and down the hallway, fixing her uniform up a little before she arrived at the door, hearing the piano's emotions even closer.

Akemi took a deep breath in before she walked into the room, to see a girl playing at the piano, who looked nothing like the other students that she had seen. She then took a look at the window outside to see that a storm just hit the school, she continued to listen a little more as she saw the water falling from the sky, but then looked to the girl at the piano. She's pretty... really pretty... Akemi thought to herself in her head, she could feel heat rising from her cheek but soon it had eased down. Why didn't she play in the competitions?

The girl at the piano continued to play silently until she reached the end of the piece. Obviously she had noticed the intrusion upon her holy land but decided not to break her performance just for some idle chat, specially when her newest visitor seemed to appreciate the music for what it was. Eventually, the last note was played, the echo it produced within the empty music room was drowned by the deafening blast of a thunder following a lightning bolt that hit the ground dangerously close to the school. The flash of pure white light, was enough to blind anyone for a second, and when it passed, the mysterious girl was looking at Akemi with a side way glance over her shoulder and hands resting over her lap. "Good evening, may I ask your name?"

Akemi closed her eyes as she listened to the beauty of the music, it really had to remind her when she was younger, and happy. When she heard the last note as it echoed, she opened her eyes and smiled. Music had always given Akemi joy and happiness, she was glad that she didn't miss out on an opportunity like today. But then Akemi heard a large blast of thunder, which made her jump a little.

Then there was the white light that came nearly immediately after this large thunder, which made Akemi close her eyes immediately, so she couldn't go blind of course. When she felt the light pass, she peeked open one of her eyes to see if it was safe, she then opened both to look at the mysterious girl staring at her. Akemi had finally identified the face of the girl, she was almost like an angel. Akemi was then asked what her name was, she took a deep breath in before looking back at the girl. "My name is Akemi Masuko." Akemi introduced herself.

"Akemi Masuko, is it? So, what brings you here? I don't believe there's anything too worthy of note here." The girl still hadn't said her own name. I was almost as if she wanted Akemi to ask her that. Even so, she beckoned Akemi to seat besides by the piano "Come, this was made for a duet, it has plenty of space for someone else."

After Akemi had introduced herself, she heard the soft voice of the girl who was sitting at the piano, asking what brought her to this music room and all. She watched as the girl beckoned the seat, it didn't take long for Akemi to head over and sit at the piano. Akemi looked back at the girl for a second, continuing to smile before looking at the piano keys in front of her. "Before we do this, may I ask your name?" Akemi asked as she got her hands ready over the keys, Akemi could easily read what notes were played as well as the chords. Her tutor had taught her the ability to listen to something, then play it on the piano as accurate as possible.

After listening to Akemi's question, the girl chuckled lightly "Fair enough, I suppose. Please, call me Persephone." Persephone, the name of the goddes of the underworld wou would bring the change of seasons when she was allowed to leave her residence once every year. It was even a fitting name, considering the secret that Persephone kept concealed. She took a better glance of Akemi, noticing the grace with which she sat before the piano and how she seemed to be eager to touch the keyboard, but was reluctant to do so. The name Akemi Masuko, combined with her skill and practice before the piano made Persephone recall a certain pianist she heard of before. Interesting, how things played on the Afterlfe, indeed do very interest.

"So, what about my question, now." Persophone asked again.

Akemi looked to the side at the mysterious girl as she answered Akemi with her name, the name itself had so much grace that it made Akemi smile happily at her. "That's a very pretty name." Akemi had to point out as she continued to have a calm smile on her face, she took a look back at the notes on the piano, her eyes seeming to ease down as well. Akemi didn't realize why she hadn't answered the question earlier, but it was about time for her to answer it before they played. "Well, the playing was just beautiful, it kind of reminded me before I entered a depressing stage of my life. And some parts of it, the pain when I was actually in those depressed stages as well." Akemi said as her smile dropped slightly.

"I wanted to see who this skilled pianist was." Akemi said as she turned back to the piano.

"Ah, I see." Persephone said, laying her hands over the keyboard. "I don't deserve any praise, this is merely something I do for a reason even I don't know." As Persephone said so, she began palying a melody that seemed to reach all of the school, soothing the hearts of those wounded and seemingly even calming the raging weather even if for a bit.

BGM

However, she skillfully left pauses so that Akemi could play about half of song, hoping to listen the other girl in action. After all a musician's hands speak much better than their voices. Unless of course they're singers, which is another whole other deal, Persephone thought hurriedly. Akemi watched Persephones movement of the hands over the keys, she awaited the final moment for when she pressed down on the keys, and at last it happened. By the first couple of notes she could realize what the song was, it was an important song to her since it was one of the first songs she learned.

Persephone said that this was going to be a duet, so Akemi would have to listen as close as she possibly can so this performance would be beautiful. When it was those times when she had to perform, she closed her eyes and let the fingers do what they wanted, knowing when to stop and when to play. Once the song was about to hit a climax, she opened her eyes playing with elegance, the emotion expressed in her performances are what got her those many victories in competitions. Persephone was impressed with Akemi's skill, listening to the other girl's play from this close, Persephone could feel see abyss that set them apart. Akemi's notes where beautiful and full of life, like field of sunflowers in full bloom, while Persephone' were... cold, but glamurous, like a forest resting under a snowy blanket, forever waiting for a Spring that would never come.

"I hope we can play again," Persephone's voice finally broke the silence between them just as Akemi finished the last few notes on her own.

Just as she said so, a worried teacher pushed the door open and cast a glare of Akemi "What do you think you're doing playing music at a time like this? Hurry up and join the pothers in the shelter while we are at the eye of the storm." He said, kind of trying to drag Akemi with him. However, the teacher didn't seem to even mention Persephone, and the reason for it was simple. If Akemi looked to her side she would notice that the place previously occupied by the beautiful girl, was empty and col, as if no one had been there for quite some time.

As Akemi played the last notes, she put the most emotion into them as to symbolise a farewell. When she played the very last note, she heard Persephone's voice, hoping that the two of them could play again. She looked towards the door to see a man push open the door, casting a glare to Akemi. Akemi was being scolded for playing music at a time like this, just as she turned around to look at Persephone, she wasn't even there. Akemi widened her eyes a little before looking around the room, seeing that Persephone was no longer there, which puzzled Akemi. She took a look towards the window to see that the storm was worse from earlier, which must have brought concern from this teacher.

Akemi then rose from her seat, she had been sitting at one side while Persephone sat on the other, she felt the cold embrace from the room which gave Akemi goosebumps. She then looked towards the teacher and followed him out of the room, eventually arriving at the shelter with the other students. The person who was on her mind was Persephone, she was curious if she was even okay.

Eiko Kurosawa

In the far distance Eiko could hear Christmas songs over the heavy winds, she had tied off part the cut sleeve that should've housed her right arm, she kept her left hand on the bleeding injury as she did her best to get as far as she could from the Fenrir compound, snow began sticking to Eiko's clothes and bare face, she wasn't dressed for the harsh weather, Eiko stomped her feet with each step she took, she was walking across a long plain and could see a city far away through the snow and wind, part of Eiko knew that she wasn't going to make it to the city, she knew that she was more than likely gonna freeze to death or die from blood loss.

Eiko took a look back and made out a thin long trail of blood tracing back to the compound, fires started to happen at the compound and Eiko knew that she couldn't make it back, the way forwards was even longer than the way back but Eiko felt like she'd be finished soon, she took two more weak steps in the snow before she dropped to her knees she let go of her wound and put her bloodied hand in the cold snow." I'm already numb." She said to herself in a tone as cold as the weather.

Eiko collapsed onto her hand before just falling into the snow she closed her eyes and just accepted her fate, she could feel herself slipping away and could feel her blood begin to pool up under her in the cold snow staining it. Suddenly she began to feel warm, suddenly feeling started to return to her right arm, she could feel her fingers and even wiggle them as well along with her thumb, she slowly opened her eyes and looked around to see that she in some kind of courtyard, she was rested against a tree.

Eiko quickly assessed the situation she was in, her right arm was back again and she could even move it, she had on different clothes than her black cargo pants and black pull over hoodie, she was wearing what looked like a uniform or some kind of strange outfit, it reminded her of the time she was forced to go to a high school once, She looked around seeing what looked like a giant school or an academy.

Eiko got to her feet and saw someone run up into the school like they were in a hurry, she noticed others were walking up into the school as well, but before Eiko could really get to the school or even act, the sky began to darken, and a somewhat annoying voice crackled to life on a hidden pa system that Eiko couldn't spot, the voice told them that there would be a storm after the wind began to pick up and the sky darkened.

Before Eiko could do anything herself, she was grabbed by a teacher and huddled together with many other students, she was soon herded with the other students into a shelter along with the other students, Eiko pushed others that gotten too close to her as she was herded with the others into the shelter.

But the Shelter just looked like a giant indoor basketball court, or some type of stage with bleachers, Eiko took her eyes off the various different things around her and her small nose was assaulted with the smell of spicy rice like the voice on the PA told them, Eiko didn't take the rice feeling this could be something similar to the Jonestown Koolaid. Eiko went to try to be on her own she didn't want to be crowded around the others that were in the small shelter.

Shiba looked around seeing everyone come in things were getting interesting considering how Shiba could see a few puerile with actual will. Maybe it was the wrong way to phrase that but to think that there were people questioning everything happening. Shiba took a spot in the corner to people watch, he wasn't hungry yet so he wouldn't get any of the spicy rice. For now Shiba would simply wait to see what happens if anyone wants to talk to him great if nobody does also great. At this point Shiba would just be an observer until the time came for him to leave...

Akio arrived in the shelter, quickly loosing his one person audience as he easily weaved between students and teachers alike. The sounds of the piano that frequented the halls were still fading but fresh in His mind. His destination was a set of bleachers that were realatively deserted which could leave him space to relax. Quickly Akio acended the steps until he found a nice perch from atop to view the massive crowd that was forming. The noise was getting quite loud with the chatter of friends and groups blathering on about the storm. Carefully he removed his violin and now and prepared to play yet another song, the same one he had heard on his way to the shelter. Looking over the crowd he began to play, imagining that they had come to hear him preform. He stood at the top of the mostly deserted bleachers with his eyes closed as the notes rose from his violin, swaying gently. Ever so slowly the din began to lessen as the majority of the students began to listen to the song. By the time the last note left it, it had become almost deathly silent. Opening his eyes Akio felt his face redden as he found the many eyes of the student npcs upon him. He wasn't quite sure what to do so he merely sat down after a slight bow and began to replace his violin within its case.

Tetsuya Nakano

Tetsuya stood still, watching from his spot as more students filed in. Somehow he hadn't realised, but the "NPC" type characters didn't act like NPCs at all. In fact, it was almost as if they all had their own relations, backstory, personality, the works. It was as if someone had managed to programme a powerful AI based of the entire human race; constantly learning and altering to keep up with everything that was happening. A few more people filtered in acting more like humans than the "NPCs" could ever do, despite their extremely complex and advanced... Programming? Was that really the right word, provided that everything felt so real. Something like what he was experiencing now couldn't have been created through code, could it? He pondered it for a little, before he noticed a girl approach him from out of the blue.

Hello!

She mouthed, accompanied with a small wave. Either she was just shy, or she really couldn't speak. He stood up from his relaxed position and looked at her. She must have been similar to him; a human. "Hi?" he said, not entirely sure about whether or not she could speak.

I'm Rikka

She mouthed again, with some almost instruction to what she was saying. It was pretty clear now that she was unable to speak, which made things easier for him. Tetsuya went to raise his hand, but dropped it again when he remembered, or failed to remember in his case. It had been years ago when he had learnt sign language, and he remembered very little. He tried what he could remember, though it probably wouldn't have worked. He put his finger to his chest, and then brought it back out and clenched it with his thumb just over the top.

I... Am...

And then he spelled out his name, whilst mouthing it in the same way she had.

Tetsuya

There was no use. Even with his broken knowledge with the symbols, he wasn't going to get anywhere past explaining that he had no clue why they were wearing different clothes.
"Sorry, I'm not the best at that... I never really used it and kinda forgot." he said in a slightly quieter tone, "Anyway, I don't really know. There are others around like us, but I'm sorry to say I don't have the faintest of clues. I assume you just woke up here as well, then? Man, I really wish I knew how the hell I got here. I've never even heard of a school complex like this before, have you?" he continued, more or less just trying to keep a conversation going. If he really was in a dream, or even a coma, best to make the most of his time in both the world he was in, and the conversation he was having.
