@Kaithas Her magic is mostly that. There's also a lot of wasted raw energy, which is what the suit collects to function. I wasn't exactly sure what kind of abilities it should have. When Mass Effect level technology was mentioned, I thinking like, cloaking device, deflector shields, magnetic boots, harpoon launchers. But when I look at MECHs already out there, they seem decidedly more medieval.

@The 42nd Gecko: The tech level is an interesting thing, I'll grant you that. Mass effect was a lot for the aesthetic. The magic seems okay, just be aware that while demonic mechs may not be terribly resistant to her punches at first, as she fights them for long enough at melee range their cores will start to cycle off power.

A cloaking device would be acceptable, so long as she wasn't charging a magic blast or something of the like. Magnetic boots work too. Deflector shields are... Interesting. You want protection against magic or kinetics?

She can't charge a magic blast, at least yet, so I'm quite happy to have a cloaking device with that limitation.

On the deflector shields, I was thinking that, even with a suit of armor, sheer scale would mean that near misses from MECH scaled weapons would still be highly dangerous. I was wanting something that protect against said near misses, meaning that a direct hit would still crush her, because obviously, but a near hit from a weapon that's not like a High Explosive round wouldn't be dangerous.

BUT! With your clarification, I have something I'd prefer instead of those shields (cloaking and guile and magnetic grapple boots should be enough to get close). That, because her punches have her suit between her and her target, while her suit has no hull breaches, it prevents/slows demonic MECHS from absorbing her magic, because the suit's doing it first. Because I have in my head the visual scene idea of going INSIDE an enemy demonic mech after ripping herself a hull breach and absolutely tearing the thing apart from the inside due to the difference in scale, then popping out the other side, covered in steaming gore and trailing wires, as the mech slumps over and falls over.

@The 42nd Gecko: Yeah, you could have some kind of field that would prevent power drain, but it'd likely be on a time limit. Since it couldn't very well be powered with her magic (that'd kinda defeat the purpose) you'd have to have an in suit power source that would run out. Tech and everything will be upgraded as time goes on, don't worry.

Also, just to clarify: Charging the power required for one of her super powerful punches would cancel her cloaking. But since you're already at extremely close range at that point, I don't think that would be a big issue.

Working on the IC opener as we speak. It shouldn't take long, Erikal's not one for speeches.

Yep, though I will say... Silvan was talking to me earlier, and it seems I forgot something about mages. Namely, I mentioned at one point that you guys can actually have spirits if you so choose.

So those of you who have already had mages approved (Gecko and @Caasicam) can add a spirit if you run it by me first. Keep in mind that since you don't have a robotic suit, the abilities will be somewhat different from your mech compatriots.

Of course, if you want to go the tech only route and have a focusing implant, you don't need one.

@Silvan Haven: You're good.

EDIT: Also, I've talked to Dax and he's still around, just busy moving.

Let me start out by saying hello. It's been a very, very long time since I have roleplayed. I was on the old RPG, and usually posted in the advanced and casual boards. I tried to come back a few years ago, but the news of loosing all my past work was just too much, so I receded. But roleplay has always been something I've used to get my mind off tough times, and times are very tough right now. So I figured I'd come back and give it a shot. My grammar and spelling is a lot rustier than it used to be, but hopefully I can bring it back up to speed relatively quickly, but I apologize for anything rough in this app. I hope you can be a little lenient with an old veteran trying to regain their ways (especially with this new system). So, without further ado, I figured I'd add a mage to all these mech pilots!

Very nice bio, I do like the magic you've come up with, looks like it'll get up to quite some antics. :)

Anyone want to set up their characters to meet? Chimere's not particularly outgoing, so it'd probably take a little bit of coincidence to make an early meeting.

@Cherry_Shield: Looks good! Hope your return to RPing goes well. Just be aware of a few limitations of magic:

Direct action of magic on mechs tends to be somewhat ineffective, as their focusing cores drain magic out of the environment. So her dropping a rock on a mech would be as effective as always, but actually causing one to vanish would take a lot of power.

Same deal goes for mind reading and mind control. A mech would protect its pilot.

Otherwise, as long as you play by my rules, you're good to go! Welcome to the party.

I've been loaded down with schoolwork so Talia is slow in coming, but hopefully I'll have time today.
