As the nights draw in, and the cold wind once more begins to whistle across Alria, great changes come to the land. The Darkness grows even stronger, pushing the nations that face them to the brink of destruction. New nations rise from the ashes of the old, but whether these civilizations will ever survive is a question that none can answer as the Shadow pushes yet further into Alria.
Still recovering from the bloody war raged in the recent months, New Engelica rebuilds it's armies in preparation for the inevitable coming conflict as the Darkness continues to move silently towards them through the waters to the north. New magics are discovered as the proud nation of Magi braces itself.
United by the new steel tracks that criss-cross the nation, Tushienia pour their newly returned armies into holding back the Darkness to the East, bolstering the defenses of their own Province as well as that of their allies. Foul nightmares drag themselves from the shadows to the east and hurl themselves against the defenders, and yet they stand strong. For now.
The Broken Empire allows itself to rest, it's armies, still fresh from crushing Limgar, embarks from the trains of the Empire and masses at the borders of the Lagosami Tribes, or rather what was the tribes. For the Tribes, broken by their defeats at the hands of Bripiak, the Broken Empire, the Kingdom of Zakol and the Darkness itself, can no longer remain united.
Facing the Darkness for the first time, the Kingdom of Zakol's navy is hit hard by nightmares from the depths. Even as they must continue to fight on the water, to their south, the Lagosami Tribes split in two, weakening them even further as the sickness of the Darkness continues to push across Alria.
Shown the true danger of the Shadow for the first time, the Republic of Andinon loses it's grip on it's southernmost province, and it takes an overwhelming force of Magi that drives the Darkness back from their land. The very ground seems to be sickened by the Shadow, and the Republic has learnt not to underestimate the threat in the east.
Pankra realizing the true threat, coming from the depths to the west, brace themselves for the oncoming Darkness that will no doubt crash against the nation's defenses come the winter.
The Confederacy of Sawl falls silent even as the Shadow closes in on them.
Rising from the ashes of Kebriw, the Republic of Outcasts sends messengers to their neighbors, no doubt bracing itself for the coming threat.

Many mages had received their Spirit Tree sapling. Most planted it near their houses. The Spirit Trees swiftly grew in size. Turning into weird shapes with hollow points and holes in it. It absorbed the oozing magic from the talented War-Magi. Feeding from that unused power, magic essence flowed through its branches into the leaves. This served as a beacon for kind spirits who decided to make the Spirit Tree their home. Small lights could be seen within the hollow points of the Trees. Spirits dwelling within, feeding of the magic from the tree. Most of the tree grew wild and irregular. But some branches were straight and strong. In due time they would be ready to cut off. And from them, the music instruments needed to communicate with the spirits would be made.
In the meantime, everywhere where there are New Engelican War-Magi, spirits awaken. In the water strange, blue-glowing fishes are swimming. In hearths strange red salamanders are seen just sitting in the flames. In the air sometimes small, yellow-glowing birds appeared out of no-where and in the forests, green-glowing squirrels are seen jumping from tree to tree. Any attempt to capture these creatures is met with failure. Once within a net, the simply dissolve into nothingness. Studying them seems impossible, but these spirits seem to be very fond of War-Magi.
The council of War-Magi had heard the request from the Dwarven Forgelord Mylori. A fairly younger dwarf than the first one who appeared within Al’Gruin. The council was not fond of Mylori’s request. Having already marched with them in 2 wars, now seemed hardly the best time to march onwards to another. By bird the still traveling Ruin King had received word of the request and agreed with his War-Magi that the armies of Engelica were in no shape to fight against another opponent. The maximum they could afford was sending out several Magi as support. Healing up the Broken Empire’s wounded soldiers and cast artillery spells far behind the frontlines. This was then explained to Mylori.

Province 19 The land is warped and polluted. Some question whether its even worth holding. But it is. Just to keep the darkness from having it. Every inch of land they own is more breeding grounds for them, more armies constantly being created. It was lucky they were able to get here as fast as they did. There was no telling how long it would take the land to heal. If this was what the darkness did in such a short period of time, it must be dreadful the conditions of those lands they'd held for over a year. Still, if this was to be won they would probably have to erase the darkness from this continent.
Province 13 Earth magic has become standardized throughout the kingdom, not to the level of proficiency some nations show, but certainly enough to be helpful in easing the creation of barricades and playing tricks with the enemy. Tinkers are working on the rifles they received, claiming they can make it smaller given time. Alleviate the long reload time by allowing those on hareback to use them, firing and retreating. An invention that would make the prefers tactics of the light cavalry more effective, as well as less dangerous to themselves. They boasted that once these were perfected they could take the fight to the darkness instead of simply holding ground. Whether it was true or not, it was an exciting prospect.

Province 69 The Republics forces were gathering en masse to fight the coming darkness. The navy was as prepared as it could be, the army was setting up defensive positions to repel enemies. But would it be enough? Nobody knew for certain. The odds were against them, and they've received no word from any nearby nation. The navy shall defend the coasts and try and destroy as many invader ships as possible to help the armies odds of winning, while the airforce will provide what support it can. The odds were against them, but they'd be damned if they went quietly.

Pareth paced back and forth. The Darkness was coming. Could the Dead Legion defeat it? Surely hordes of undead warriors backed by an elite core could hold off whatever was coming? He hoped so. The problem with the undead was that they decayed so the Order of Dark Secrets had to keep raising new ones when the old decayed. Ah well, soon the mettle of the beasts would be tested. In the meantime, he could only prepare. Actions: Maintain Dead Legion in 63, Recruit War-magi & ship in each province. Continue current research.
After almost a full year of holding back the ever evolving tide of dark monsters that had been pouring in from the East, Autumn had finally brought a much needed reprieve in the form of reinforcements. With their somewhat tattered ranks not only restored but swelling beyond the numbers that they had come to the province it, the veterans of Province 7 finally had the ability to go on leave so that they might rest and recover from the nearly year long ordeal.
The signs of their last, despite defense of the Province in order to buy themselves, Tushienia and the rest of the world more time still burned several months later; In front of the first line of defense stood the still burning swampland that the defenders had created, pouring oil, tar and even using earth magic to move coal deposits and funnel gas pockets to it to ensure that when they lit it up with fire magic, it would stay burning for a very, very long time.
A time that they themselves were cutting short.
With the influx of new troops and the ability to rebuild and redesign the various lines of defensive without being harried, the fire wall had served its purpose of stalling the enemy advance in the north; If they left it up, the dark monsters of the east would simply head south and go around them, overwhelming one of the southern provinces. Better to cut the fire off from its fuel and let it mostly burn out to divert darkness forces into a nation that was entrenched and ready to face them instead of overwhelming a battered one.
It might take until the winter snows set in for the fire to die down enough for the darkness to begin assaulting them new, but they would be ready for them.
....................................
There was an old saying in Tushienia: 'If you understand yourself and the enemy, you will be the victor even after one hundred battles. If you understand yourself but not the enemy, for every victory you achieve you will also suffer a defeat. If you neither understand yourself or the enemy, you will succumb in every battle.'
Tushienia had been fortunate when it came to the battles with the Darkness; While it had been an unknown foe and good solders had died due to it's evolving tactics and units, not an inch of Tushienia's territory or that of her allies had been lost to it yet despite its best efforts. The bodies of the foul, unliving creatures were torn apart in order to be studied, patterns starting to emerge in their design that could be exploited in order to bring about their swift ends while the nature of their design was discussed and debated openly in coffee shops and universities across the nation.
What had once been an unknown foe had been dragged out of the shadows and into the light; They were still a threat, but the fear and horrible awe that the creatures relied upon to break resistance was no longer present in Tushienia. The unknown enemy had been made known to all and it could be killed.

Tavirin hadn’t believed the first breathless messenger that had told of the Lagosami tribes dividing, their leadership crumbling under heavy defeats. But reports had flooded in, and Tavirin had wasted no time in gathering his generals around him to properly assess the situation.
With the bloodthirsty leader of the Lagosami tribes, that had been driving his people to war, butchered by his own soldiers, Tavirin changed his grand plans. Now, the tribes were not the unwieldly threat they once were, now they were a formidable force that could be used against the ever encroaching Darkness.
Quickly sending a messenger to the leaders of the Dolarti tribe, it wasn’t long before Tavirin once again found himself deep in talks with a great nation’s leaders. Guttural and coarse, the tribe chiefs were a world away from the eloquent speech of New Engelica, but Tavirin had been on countless diplomatic missions, and he quickly adapted to their language. Soon, battle lines were drawn, as the tribes agreed to pull back their forces in the face of the Darkness, forming a strong defence even as Bripiak also led its soldiers to the new front quickly being formed.

Hakurei (25), Capitol city of Zakol - Royal palace Lord Claymont was not five minuets in his office before a line of servants began carrying papers & boxes in, Lord Rahmas appearing among them "Glad to have you back Claymont! i really don't like having to do both of our jobs", Claymont grinned "sorry for inconveniencing you". Rahmas took a seat igoreing the steady stream of servants coming & going "So you displeased with the princesses actions?" Claymont briefly looked away before he spoke "I don't understand her, i advised her of the political implications and... she ignored me, i viced my concerns at this alliances unity and again she..." Lord claymont took his seat as he continued "and the one time during that meeting i thought she was making a power-play, instead she was testing the how truly committed the new parties attending the talks were after the recent hostilities".
Rahmas looked puzzled "and be doing so we ended up with more allies in the north, & technology more specifically these gunpowder weapons?, i don't see... Ah! your upset because everyone's looking at the immediate threat while your worrying about politics after..." Claymont went silent as Rahmas continued "My friend, with how serve this invading threat is, we-no all of Alria will be lucky if we can survive it, worry about power struggles, alliances, & politics after the threats been repelled!".
Claymont nodded "Not much to worry about in any case, the princess will simply go back to the way Zakol was before and make the kingdom a neutral center of trade..." Rahmas laughed as he got up from his chair "What would you have her do? go on a conquest to conquer all of Alria and establish her own empire?, are you sure your not missing your old homelands politics?". Claymont gave a glare that could of killed at that last remark "I am a citizen of Zakol, and forever will be! i'll never go b-" Rahmas waved his hand as he began to leave "It was a jest calm down friend".
Several minuets later...
High priestess Yotul barged into Claymonts office "Tushienia? leaders of the alliance?!, them unholy practitioners corrupting the laws of nature with unnatural magics?!" Claymont looked up from his current stack of papers "...The princess seemed happy with the result perhaps take the matter up with her?" he paused recalling something some months back "Wait, that's right!, that ambassador from Tushienia asked how you where... his name was Nuyor?" Claymont almost lept out of his chair when Priestess Yotul slammed her fists onto his desk "Don't mention his name to me again we was a friend and a very talented magi before he started messing them evil forbidden magics, he is long dead as far as i am-" Claymont looked puzzled before recalling the bony hooded figure he met with "his sons seemed human enough?".
Before Claymont had realised it he was in the room himself as he finished speaking Priestess Yotul having left after saying her piece, curious Claymont wrote an order to one of his agents "Find any information on priestess Yotul & past acquaintances" Claymont field it deeply curious on how the two knew each-other in the past, he was caught by surprise when one of his Ogre guards spoke up having been leaning over his shoulder when he'd been writing "She wasn't always the high priestess you know, she was originally a magi acolyte at the temple herself once upon a time, and traveled Alria in her youth, word is she even went beyond Alrias boarders further west".
Claymont turned to look at the wall of armor standing behind him "oh?, and how long have you known her?" The Ogre removed his helmet revealing a rather Elderly Ogre that seemed almost as old as General Grumret, "My baby sister? all of her life!" The ogre smiled as he put his helmet back on "Word of advice sir, don't pry into a womens history without their consent it doesn't end well when they find out..." The Ogre saluted and returned to his position at the back wall of the office opposite the other guard. Claymont only uttering the words "good advice" before he shredded the outgoing order.
Kirt Province (16) - Military camp Hq "Father!" a young looking Ogre officer yelled running over towards General Mokur and handing his papers over "Reporting in sir!" he spoke eagerly snapping a sharp salute, Volaq Mokur stood there surprised for a moment "You graduated the acad-" The young officer burst with pride "Yes father with flying colors too, i told you i'd make the family proud!, and i got posted here with the new recruits to help recuperate the some of the losses". General Mokur sighed deeply "Larek..." he looked at his kid "...just go have the new recruits parade for inspection i will be there shortly".
Mokurs second in command the ever dutiful War-Magi smiled "want me to see if we can get him trans-" Mokur shook his head "no i wont have favoritism or anything going on, he's doing his duty as we all are for Zakol". The War-Magi nodded quietly "in that case we should assign him to the routine patrols to start building his experience". Mokur nodded "a good simple start, that'll be fine, also make sure everyones prepared to move at a moments notice in case we have to reinforce our allies, now imma go see to the new replacements that have arrived". The general walked out of the command tent lost in thought, Leaving his second in command to make the arrangements & preparations.

The winter not only brings the biting cold, but it brings things far worse. Nightmarish creatures close in on the flickering lights of resistance from all directions. Soon, there will be none who have not faced the true horror of the Darkness. The approaching shadows has united nations under a common banner, but distrust runs rife as whispers of creeping darkness spread across the nations. Whether Alria will withstand against the Darkness, may well be decided before the snows next fall.
Continuing to raise their strength, New Engelica once more rides to aid their Dwarven allies of the Broken Empire, though now only sending a handful Magi and War-Magi to the front line against the encroaching Darkness, to act as healers and provide what support they can. The elves are all too weary of the shadow now creeping across the waters towards them from the north.
Their lands still protected by the burning mire, Tushienia enjoys a respite, however brief, from the forces of the Darkness. Learning what they could of their foe, new research emerged of ways to combat the foul creatures that would no doubt come once more with the frost. For now the line had held, but for how much longer could it hope to do so?
Finding the new tribe leaders far more welcoming than those who came before them, plans are drawn out by the Broken Empire as the Dolarti Tribe fall back in their masses in the face of the Darkness. As the front line continues to fall back, the Dwarves and Orcs of the Empire will no doubt face the true might of the Darkness itself as the first snows begin to fall.
The Kingdom of Zakol, still reeling somewhat from the negotiations of the newly forged alliance, prepare their fleets once more for the nightmarish creatures from the depths. As the waters began to freeze, the proud sailors of the great nation know that even their darkest dreams will not match the horrors they face in the coming months.
Gathering all the knowledge it could, the Republic of Andinon did what it could to brace itself for the inevitable assault of the Darkness as the nights continue to lengthen, and nothing but the cold winter sun brings any light to the land. Having already suffered defeat at the hands of the shadow, how much longer can the soldiers of the Republic to defend their lands.
Pankra once more prepared itself for the Darkness attacks that did not come. The waters were eerily silent as the undead stood motionless, empty eyes cast out across the waves as the Magi controlling them shivered, not from the biting cold, but instead from the sense of dread as dark shapes moved beneath the water.
The newly forged Republic of Outcasts also braced itself for the coming Darkness, whispers of hideous creatures passed like wildfire through the nation, despite any attempts to quell the paranoia. Soon the stories had reached outlandish levels, and the defenders doubted that any such monsters could possibly exist. They would soon be proven wrong.
Proving itself a powerful nation in its own right for the first time, Orngat, perhaps shaken from it's idleness by the approaching Darkness to the north, prepare to impose themselves for the first time.

“We've successfully been able to avoid involvement in the surrounding conflict.” Azras reported, the old dwarf looking out over the council filled with other old dwarves. In the far back, the ancient elder dwarf Kalderur, Judge of the Order, was watching Azras with penetrating judgement.
“Excluding the support we sent to assist our allies in last year's battle, Orngat has been able to stay completely out of the conflicts of the world and been a safe place for our people to prosper. Our goal has always been to keep fighting away from our own provinces, and thankfully nothing has ever threatened our borders.”
“Until now.” Belden sat back with a little grin, inserting his otherwise unsaid quip while crossing his arms waiting for the following report. Azras gave him a little stare, before looking towards the rest of them with a grim look.
“Our scouts and fishermen, sailing in the north, have received premonitions. Reports are coming in of unexplained feelings of dread, a feeling of danger when watching the seas further north. Now, this could have been disregarded as simple paranoia, if it wasn't for that all of them report the same feeling.” Now all of them were focused, grim looks on all the dwarven faces. There was no question about it. The Darkness was coming for them.
“... The time for action is now.” Kalderur stood up from his chair around their table, his sheer presence causing all the rest to look at him, as he placed down his walking-stick on the low table with a surprising thunder of a sound. “Name your suggestions!”
“We are fighting an unknown enemy.” Zuth, the one female dwarf of the Order, informed with care in her eyes. “The first step should be to find out more information about our foe. As competent as my researchers are, they have nothing to work with.”
“But how, pray tell, will we gain information about a foe we've never seen?” Rak asked, pushing his glasses a bit, intending more on being the devil's advocate than anything else.
“It's simple.” Gegel, a proud dwarf who trusted the power of their nation, said. “We simply need to see it.” He got numerous stares. “Anton's human scouts are highly competent. We can trust them to gain information on our enemy before they strike. They're loyal and willing to give their lives for us, it would be foolish not to use them.”
“It's near suicide.” Zuth frowned, naturally the one to be worried about the waste of lives that could be saved. “The Darkness is known for consuming those that attempt scouting them.”
“Even so, I'd argue that any risk is worth it, for that risk will soon be eating at our borders.” Gegel told her, and there was a murmur of agreement through the Order. Zuth sighed in defeat at the matter, and gave a small nod of acknowledgement at it.
“If I may.” Thirbek, the voice with the outside world, put his word in. “Nations in the East have already clashed with the Darkness, our information says. We could seek information from them, asking for any information they'd be willing to give us.”
“So, we should send envoys to the East to ask for aid in the form of accounts of their conflicts with the Darkness?” Rak inquired, looking at Thirbek with quite the little cold stare.
“Envoys? Well, I was about to volunteer to go myself.” Thirbek nodded to them with a little smile. “If a member of our Order goes, himself, then surely they will realize our request is sincere.”
“Hahaha!” Rasur laughed out a little, causing stares to be directed towards him. “Sure, go ask for their suggestions. In the meantime, I'll just keep building new machines faster than the enemy can destroy them!” He said, cheerfully.
“But can we guarantee that our forces will be able to hold the Darkness back for long enough for you to build new forces?” Rak asked. The room became notably silent for numerous moments.
“... Sure!” Rasur smiled happily. “Though just in case, we may want to seek an alternative ”
“Our cause of action is clear.” Gegel informed, his head held high as he looked over the present company. “We must ask for the aid of a more direct kind, as well. Of troops and arms.”
“... I'll go to New Engelica.” Azras said, looking over the rest. “Should the Darkness attack, we should be able to depend on their assistance.”
“Limiting it to only New Engelica would be foolish.” Gegel gave his opinion. “After them, we should ask our other current neighbours, the Broken Empire, if they'd be wanting to assist as well. This is a common threat we're facing.”
“The Empire has a coast as well, now.” Zuth reminded. “They may very well be too busy strengthening their own borders to assist ours.”
“Indeed, but it would be foolish not to attempt.” Gegel nodded, and looked towards Azras, who made a small nod that he had understood.
“Very well. I'll head towards the Broken Empire after my journey to New Engelica. However, allow me to share my confidence at that we should be able to depend on Engelica's might. We stand as a wall against the Darkness for them. After all, should we fall, they'll be next.” Azras declared with some manner of surety.
“Our defences are strong.” Raru, in charge of security, agreed with a frown. “We have Interceptors in the air. We have Ironclads at sea. We have Walkers on land. To not make use of our strength, would be foolish.”
“Assuming they're not already busy in other directions...” Belden grinned, poking at possibilities of the negative kind. “Well. In either case, I'll make sure to build defences the way only dwarves can, I trust you'll be able to make use of them, Raru.”
“I will.” Raru replied, grunting in appreciation at their master builder.
“In the meantime, we should prepare for a worst case scenario.” Rak told. “Should our defences fall, we should prepare to inform our population that they will need to defend themselves. Either by fleeing the nation, or picking up arms on their o-”
“The populace will not be disturbed.” Maar shook awake, the old dwarf having looked like he was drifting asleep on the side. Rak stopped, looking a bit towards Maar, despite knowing what he was about to say.
“The rules state.” Maar continued. “The Order of Orngat may not disturb the populace. We may only defend them, look after their needs and keep them happy. Otherwise, the populace is to be entirely free to do whatever it wants, as long as it doesn't break the rules. We cannot tell them to do anything.”
“Even as their lives are at stake?” Rak looked slightly annoyed, holding his glasses as he glared at Maar. “We're talking about the Darkness. If even half the rumours I've heard of it is true, there is a sincere possibility that-”
“The Representative of Law is correct.” Kalderur informed, his voice booming over the room. “We are not entitled to command the populace to do anything. The Order is built around the nation of Orngat, not on top of it. So states our rules.” Rak looked like he wanted to say something. “... Though, it says nothing about 'strongly recommending' something.” Kalderur compromised, closing his eyes for a bit and both Rak and Maar looked reasonably satisfied. Belden laughed out loud at this resolution of the ancient Judge.
“Let me review what information has been gathered here.” Kalderur roared out, glaring through the room.
“In the mission to research the Darkness.” His eyes turned to the trio to his right. “Zuth will conduct research on the information we have on the enemy. To help her, Gegel, instruct Anton to use his scout ships to inspect the threat from the north, attempting to see from safe ranges to find out what we can, while Thirbek shall head to the Eastern nations and attempt acquiring the information they've gained from fighting our foe.” Zuth, Gegel and Thirbek nodded to their missions.
(Research 'Against the Dark', step 1/3. Sent agents to speak with foreign Eastern nations to ask for their experiences, if possible. )
“In the mission of our own forces.” His eyes turned to the three on his left. “Rasur will put his engines on fire, constructing more warriors for our defence. Belden will construct our defensive positions, and Raru will then use these warriors and defensive positions throughout our nation to defend the populace.” The three nodded to Kalderur's words.
(Recruit 1 Ironclad, 1 Walker and 1 Interceptor per province. #57 has 50 M-Warrior units, 17 M-Walkers, 17 Ironclad, 20 Interceptors #56 has 50 M-Warrior units, 17 M-Walkers, 17 Ironclad, 20 Interceptors #54 has 50 M-Warrior units, 16 M-Walkers, 16 Ironclad, 20 Interceptors)
“In the mission of seeking aid.” His eyes turned to the one straight in front of him. “Azras will head for neighbouring countries and see if they can spare their assistance against the incoming threat, our neighbours being New Engelica and the Broken Empire. Our existence may depend on this.” Azras nodded, with a determined grim look on his expression.
(Envoy sent to New Engelica and the Broken Empire. “The Darkness is estimated to arrive at Orngat around half a year, maybe more, maybe even less. Regardless, when this happens, Orngat will need assistance. Our lands are naturally easy to defend, and we hold a mighty army in our own right. We intend on being the rock which the Darkness slams against, like a wave breaking against a cliff-face. Know that should we fall, the Darkness will have gained an entry-point into your nations. If you have any forces to spare, Orngat would like to assist in defending your nations from this incoming threat.”)
“Meanwhile, Rat, Maar. Keep our people happy. Prepare emergency procedures that do not defy the rules in worst case scenarios. Stay off one another's throats.” Rak stared a bit at the lazy-looking Maar who didn't even look like he had heard, but then nodded to the Judge. “Good luck to us all.” Kalderur said as he concluded the meeting.
Jonathan was turning on a wrench, smiling happily as he was working on another Mechanical Worker to assist with the construction work being done in the city. They had kicked it up a notch lately, and while Jonathan didn't know why, it meant he had lots of work ahead of him and that he would have no problem with money for months ahead. His workshop was already filled with lots of spare parts with which he could build things, and while people who came in might see a scrap-heap he knew exactly where to find everything. That is, assuming people didn't cause any further a mess.
CRASH.
Jonathan looked away from his work to see his slightly oversized human engineering teacher come bumbling through. While Penokio had nothing to teach which Jonathan didn't already know, he still came around from time to time to see how his student was doing. This, of course, had caused him to wander directly into a pile of Worker shoulder-plates that was stacked beside the door, which had then tumbled into a few small steam-engine out-ports which had been sitting beside them.
“Hello, Penokio. What brings you to me today?” Jonathan smiled at the bumbling man, whom showed some of the consequences of living in as spoiled a country as Orngat with his considerable bulk. The clumsy engineer stumbled to a stop, rather red with embarrassment in his face as he looked towards the working boy.
“I, um, was just going to check how my student was doing. … Quite fine, it would appear. My apologies for my accident.” Penokio had frowned with his situation, bowing his head a bit towards Jonathan as he apologized.
“Don't you worry about it. My place is Penokio-proof.” Jonathan laughed a little, showing an example of why he wasn't the considered the most sensitive of people as he turned around and kept working on the Worker... “And you're just in time. All done.” Jonathan smirked while Penokio was getting out of the debris, stopping to blink as Jonathan started the construction up.
The crouched-together humanoid metallic form which Jonathan had been working on twitched into action, quickly standing up and making a salutation, mechanical noises of the miniature steam engines within the Worker rolling to action as it stood straight.
“ALL SYSTEMS FUNCTIONAL. WHAT DOES MY MASTER COMMAND?” A robotic voice within the thing sounded out, causing Penokio to stare wide-eyed in wonder at it while Jonathan grinned.
“The Order ordered you for work in the ports, section D-3. Go find Master Duzzeak Grayhand, tell him that Jonathan completed his order, and then he will be your new master. If you can't find him, ask directions from the people you do find. OK?” Jonathan told the Worker, smiling happily as the Mechanical Worker nodded.
“AFFIRMATIVE. MECHANICAL WORKER ETI-66679 ON ROUTE TO D-3.” Said the machine, as it wandered out of the workshop, past an amazed Penokio who had to move out of the way as it walked. He was just another one of the many Mechanical Workers which worked to ensure many of the normal populace or Orngat never had to do any heavy work. Of course, this meant Jonathan didn't really need to do this, either, but he enjoyed it.
“... It seemed almost alive. You've been doing improvements.” Penokio said, looking at his student in a bit of amazement. Jonathan grinned, once again, and put his hands behind his head in a confident smirk.
“They've been giving me considerable amounts of funds for my Workers. Can't let them get anything but the highest quality things, eh? I've got orders until next season!” Jonathan exclaimed happily, looking proud of himself to his former teacher. This... caused Penokio to frown.
“... It's true, then. Well done, kid, but...” Jonathan's eyes opened curiously, as Penokio took a very serious tone with his voice. “The Order has been ordering large amounts of Workers from many places within the provinces. They've been gathering these at the ports, and at the factories. Of course, they built things there before, too, but they're really cranking it up. They're building us an army.” Penokio told, looking with a serious look at Jonathan. “... And no army is built without a reason. They're only ordering the Workers, not the Warriors, which hints that they don't want to worry the public. But the truth is, Orngat may be in danger...”
Jonathan laughed out loud at Penokio's observation.
“You're making up conspiracies again!” He called out to his engineering teacher. Penokio looked quite surprised at that this was Jonathan's reaction. “What...?”
“Orngat has never been in danger.” The boy smiled happily at him. “The Order protects us, day and night. That is why we can feel so safe. If they're really building an army, it's to do exactly that. To vanquish whatever little chance there is that we're even the slightest unsafe. Besides, if we were really in danger, Anton would have told us so!” Anton, the representative of the people, known for making speeches that make the people feel safe and a person they believe would never lie to them. “He says we're safe, so we are. You don't have to worry so much. Orngat will remain safe, forever. So let loose and live a bit, will you? Help me with the next Worker!”
Penokio looked with a frown at the boy, who was so exceedingly convinced that they would never be in danger. It seemed impossible to worry him, just as it was for the majority of the populace of Orngat that isn't actually tasked with defending the nation. Penokio slowly allowed himself to calm down, and the boy could see how he slowly found himself at ease with the thought.
“You're right. One can wonder why I was born with such worry.” The man sighed, and went to pick up some necessary parts. “Oh, well. I guess I'll need to show what I'm capable of! Watch and learn, young Jonathan!” Penokio allowed himself to smile, and Jonathan felt an inner rush of sheer at the teacher's willingness to get into the work at hand rather than his thoughts. Though Penokio had not forgotten his worries, he did allow them to subside for the moment in order to share a memory with his student. And so they worked.
Research 'Against the Dark', step 1/3. Sent agents to speak with foreign Eastern nations to ask for their experiences, if possible. That'd be, like, all of them. The envoy will head to each one in turn, and ask if they've seen anything and then head on. I'm unsure how far he'd get in three months.
Recruited 1 Ironclad, 1 Walker and 1 Interceptor per province. #57 has 50 M-Warrior units, 17 M-Walkers, 17 Ironclad, 20 Interceptors #56 has 50 M-Warrior units, 17 M-Walkers, 17 Ironclad, 20 Interceptors #54 has 50 M-Warrior units, 16 M-Walkers, 16 Ironclad, 20 Interceptors Orngat has a total of 150 M-Warrior units, 50 M-Walkers, 50 Ironclad and 60 Interceptors.
Envoy sent to New Engelica and the Broken Empire. Know that should we fall, the Darkness will have gained an entry-point into more provinces. If you have any forces to spare, Orngat would like to assist in defending your nations from this incoming threat.”
Also, scouts looking for Darkness above. Well, if they can. Try to estimate what they have. Maybe they'll just die. Trying to make use of my human racial trait, here. Improved scouts. Haha.
Not that long ago, the Holy Lands fought a single but very harsh battle against New Engelica. The feats performed their formed the first legend of New Engelica. Eléane got her nickname ‘godslayer’ there. It was also the first showcase of how important mages were and could be within a battle. Now however, peace rules the land. The only sign of the battle is the magical scare in the ground. The people were initially afraid of the mages and their civil services. But they swiftly saw that it was very profitable to only let it rain when you wanted it to. Cultural change swept the country. And now, for the first time again, a youngling gifted in magic can step forward and graduate to a status that recognizes his talent. The king received Orngat’s dwarf himself. He himself nearly commanded all mages to march for Orngat to defend it with their lives. But Eléane ushered him not to. Instead she would lead a single group to fortify one province. Through unity, they would be more successful and powerful against this mysterious ‘Darkness’. The dwarven envoy agreed to this, and requested the strengthening of the nearest province relative to the approaching Darkness. And thus 400 magi, accompanied by 15 war-magi marched towards Orngat. Lead by Eléane herself. But unbeknown to her father, she gave another order. 100 magi and 3 war-magi had the explicit orders to defend them. Through the weaving of shields or keeping their familiars close by. The others were given the orders not to take risks what so ever. Eléane wanted no casualties among the mages of New Engelica.

Mylori greeted his fellow Dwarf with open arms, listening gravely as he heard of the nation's cry for re-enforcement. Gritting his teeth as he look east, where he knew Tavirin already led a fierce defense against the Darkness, he knew that this was a decision that would require all the leaders of the Broken Empire.
And so, many nights later, Mylori finally walked from the meeting chambers and called out to the Hammerbearer already at his shoulder. Issuing quick orders, he prepared the Empire for it's next steps. Tavirin would return to Eastern Front, and a large force would turn back and move as quickly as possible back towards the Northern Front. Mylori would lead the handful of forces already close by, while the Warlocks would prepare and move as they saw fit to weak areas.

Nuyor the Doctor and Rodrim Payne sat in their respective chairs in the Council Chambers alone, taking a moment to just sit down and relax for a moment before they started to look through the numerous reports and paperwork that had been piled up on the tables before them; While normally the Council would use their own private offices for such things many of the issues that the reports spoke off would require the attention of the Council in order to be dealt with; Tork had briefly left in order to arrange transportation for the Andinon engineers that would be arriving in Tushienia to instruct Ponder's and his underlings how to apply their knowledge of controlled flight in a practical way, finally providing Tushienia with the ground work for an air force.
They hadn't even built their first airship yet and Ponder's was already making plans to work out how to build them so that they could be armed with cannons.
Vaewith the Renovator had also briefly left in order to give a speech to inspire the population; The announcement that Tushienia was currently at the head of the so called 'Alliance of Northern Nations' last month had filled their nation with pride, but the announce that two more nations had both signed up was predicted to raise moral to brand new heights.
Uzereda Nightshade had simply gone off to get a cup of coffee and something to eat for himself and the two liches while the other two members of the Council were out. While they were long past the need to eat in order to maintain themselves, sometimes a tasty little treat was more then welcomed.
Turning to his ally for over two centuries, Rodrim Payne would have legitimately smiled if his face wasn't already fixed in that position due to being a skull. "Nuyor, did you ever think that we would be here back when we first met all those years ago?"
Nuyor turned to look at Rodrim, his gaze thoughtful for a moment before he answered "Truthfully? No. Back when we founded Tushienia I believed the most likely outcomes to have either been our destruction by outside forces or us taking over northern Alria and establishing an Empire. I confess that if it wasn't for the seemingly endless tide of monsters coming in from the East, odds are that we would have been the unstoppable army that everyone was gathering together to combat."
Rodrim couldn't help but chuckle a little at that. "True enough. It's strange how somethings turn out sometimes; Now all we need to do is win this war and all those narrow minded fools who cast us out because we practiced Necromancy will be forced to sing our praises. "
There was silence for a moment as both liches thought about this mental image; Uzereda returned to find them both laughing hysterically.

Province 19 The darkness was throwing more and more impressive forces against Andinon. But Andinon was adapting even as the darkness did. The first Arquebuses had arrived and were going to be put to use against the next wave. The monstrous beings that had been sent had torn into the skeletons amassed against them, but their false hearts had been revealed to be a weakness and they had been smashed by bolt after bolt from the heavy ballista. Contrary to the darkness's hopes Andinon was learning how to fight them, to combat the darkness, both physically and mentally. With the help of Tushienia of course.
Province 6 It had been a bloodbath, though most of the forces that had fought didn't even properly bleed. The skeleton vanguard had been smashed apart by the large enemy forces, but they'd taken a ferocious toll, biting into shadowy flesh as they'd fallen. Once again Andinon was thankfully for the necromancy that served them so well in fighting these monsters. Though some might call it dark magic and unwarranted, it was certainly serving Andinon well enough. Still, they'd lost a great deal of their infantry and aid from the other nations would be of great use. As proud as Andinon was, even they realized they couldn't stand alone.

There are few who can recall the gentle breeze and flowering beauty of spring, now the season brings only more death and chaos to Alria, once beautiful nations now stained with corruption and evil, the stench of it seeping all across the continent. Even those who still stand against the shadow must force their people to war, tearing down proud forests so as to fuel the fires of their forges. Whether Alria withstands or not, the price will be unbearably high on those few that survive.
Answering the desperate calls of their allies to the North, New Engelica marches to war once more. Leading the Magi of the proud nation, beings who were already slipping into legends, the Princess Eléane prepared to defend the province that would no doubt bear the brunt of the Darkness come the spring. They would surely be tested, facing the true shadow for the first time in open battle. Even their darkest nightmares would not prepare them.
The newly forged Alliance already growing in size, with the island nations too falling under Tushienia. The nation of Necromancers, scorned in years gone past, are now the figurehead of resistance against the darkness to the east. As the nightmares once more remain in the shadows, not showing their faces to the defenders of Tushienia, the soldiers can only wait, and brace themselves for what will inevitably assail them.
Also marching to the aid of Orngat, the Broken Empire pulls back a fraction of it's massed army on the eastern front with the Darkness and rushes back towards where the shadow now approaches from the north. Orc's continue to be trained in the ways of black magic, frighteningly powerful Magi with eyes as black as their souls, the proud Dwarven nation is becoming something more altogether.
With their fleets beginning to seriously struggle against the shadow in the waters, it seems inevitable that the line will eventually break, leaving the Darkness to hurl themselves against the flanks of the newly formed Alliance of the North. Still waiting motionless within their walled cities and towns, the armies of the Kingdom of Zakol simply wait and watch as the torches flicker.
Bolstered with new knowledge from their allies, the Republic of Andinon beats back the shadow once more. Time and time again, the Gnome's magics have allowed them to weather the ferocious assault of nightmares, and now as the alliance grows in strength, there are perhaps a glimmer of hope. And yet, there is no time to dwell on hope, as the Darkness comes again.
As Pankra waited, sending messengers far across the sea to the east and joining in arms with the newly formed Alliance of the North, the Darkness swept forward to the north, slaughtering what resistance there was from the Confederacy of Sawl and gaining a foothold in the islands. As their allies in the islands begin to suffer, the shifting shadows in the water begin to grow even more ominous.
Also adding it's pledge to the Northern Alliance, the Republic of Outcasts continues to brace itself, although it's forges fall silent.
Responding to the dread silently moving through the waters towards them, Orngat sends requests of aid to it's neighbors, and receives promises of soldiers and magic coming to their aid. Proud Magi, Elves from the south, soon arrive in their grand cities, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the Dwarves as the Darkness closes in. Soon the Order will be truly tested.

Province 69 The defences were set. The troops were ready and the weapons loaded. Everyone was as ready as they could be for what was to come. In order for the enemy to attack them, they'd have to use ships to cross the water. The Navy would engage their ships and sink as many troop transports as possible, while the Airforce would provide support to the Army and target they heavier troops. The plan was to keep them pinned on the beach and take them down piece by piece. Nobody was sure if they would succeed, but it was the best plan they had. May the Gods help them to victory.

Across the various provinces of Tushienia, war time industry was building up steam in order to get into full swing; Several factories in each nation had been set up so that the parts for the first of the nations dirigibles could be constructed and rolled out into the nations air fields. Meanwhile ogres and humans from Zakol were busy with the task of leading the efforts to construct shipyards all across the coast of the nation, allowing Tushienia to -finally- be able to commit itself to a war on land, air or sea. Considering the nature of the Darkness, all three were going to be required.
Along the eastern front with the Darkness Tushienia troops were digging in alongside their allies, proving their worth by strengthening the positions of their allies and turning the darkness away assault after assault. While everyone knew that something was going to have to change sooner or later, for the time being moral was high and hopes for a better future was commonplace among the troops.
All they needed to do was hold the line until a means of ending the war presented itself.

”Hm?” Jonathan lifted his head a bit as a positively terrified Penokio came in. The man looked positively distressed as he came in.
“We’re moving to Mechanolia. Now.” He said, walking over and starting to pick up random things in the immediate vicinity that could be useful. Jonathan frowned in confusion at Penokio’s actions.
“Huh? Why?” Jonathan asked, forced to look away from the metallic nets he was developing that could potentially catch flying monsters in the air to be launched from cannons, that’ll probably never be finished.
“Didn’t you hear them!?” Penokio glared at him a bit, pointing up in the sky out the window. “The Darkness has started their assault! It’ll just be a matter of time before…”
“But we beat them back.” Jonathan smiled a happy, brilliant smile which caused Penokio to wince. “Nothing can break through Orngat’s defenses. The Order will keep us safe.” Penokio was near speechless before this youngling, who once again reminded him of how completely the civilians of Orngat trusted the Order. If only he could do the same.
“But sure, we can move to the capital for a bit.” Jonathan said, standing up and commanding a little Mechanical Worker to pick up important things to bring with them, which immediately walked and started to pack. “I have potential customers over there as well, and after all, this is Orngat.” Jonathan smiled widely. “We civilians can go wherever we want with no trouble. The Order will keep us safe, regardless.”
Penokio sighed in relief that they had reached a compromised. He nodded to Jonathan’s words, and… “I hope you’re right.” As he said that and turned around to leave to his own room to pack, he muttered a few words which Jonathan was not to hear, about the consequences should the Order fail…
Each province, 1 Walker, 1 Ironclad, 1 Interceptor.
Against the Dark, step 2/3, got info from northern countries.
I’m worried about leaving #56 without more protection. Since the Darkness doesn’t look like it can reach #54 quite yet… 15 M-Warrior units, 6 M-Walkers, 6 Ironclads and 8 Interceptors from #54 to #56.
Princess Wolph sat across from Lucretia Arnet on board the new allied train, "The preparations are complete, so we should be setting off momentarily", Lucretia seemed concerned that the princess was leading the military force herself to assist Zakols allies but refrained from bringing the matter up again, while the princess appeared to be really excited waiting for the train to start moving".
Eventually a whistle sounded & the train lurched forward, a mass cheer came from all the passengers mixed with short screams as some passengers tightly held onto the seats or the poles as the train started moving & it wasn't long before it was on its way. A short while later Lucretia Arnet shot out of her chair vanishing into another carriage seemingly oblivious to the princess asking if she was alright.
Some considerable time later the young strategist had returned looking immensely ill, "S-sorry princess, i, i, im not... so good...", she shot up again vanishing as had several other passengers, Eventually a Tushienian engineer passed and was stopped by the princess inquiring if everyone that left the carriage was alright, The engineer laughed "Yea, some people just happen to get whats known as motion sickness, no one knows why or how but the movement of the train affects some people making them nauseous, they'll be fine when we reach our destination".
The engineer wandered off and the princess although still concerned turned her attention to the rapidly passing scenery outside of the train, impressed at how fast the vehicle was going despite the many passengers, & equipment was loaded onto it. "I see why Tushienia was so interested in this technology, in either military or civil matters it'll prove very beneficial & timely".
An even worse looking version of Lucretia appeared sitting on the edge of the chair beside the princess, moaning in discomfort every time the train shook as it sped along the rails. The train came to a slow stop in northern Zakol as more troops boarded the train. The Engineer from before now heading back the other way stopped on his way past, looking at the now sleeping Lucretia who was laying across the seat using the princesses thigh as a pillow. "Do you want me to help move her to...", the princess smiled as she shook her head at the engineer "It's fine, just let her get some rest as we travel".
Even though the princess was being innocently kind, Lucretia was unknowingly gaining the wrath of the elite Hellfire Banshee's who were affronted at her disrespectful actions despite them not being intended or deliberate, as she was exhausted from her constant nausea on the train thus far & zonked out.
Ozma Torth walked around the town inspecting the constructed defenses with Lt.General Grumret who's extensive knowledge in defensive battles & siege warfare made him quite the expert on fortifications, every so often he'd take a note to pass along to the engineers later on to sure up any potential vulnerabilities he thought of.
"Fine work, a couple minor touch-ups and the defenses should be solid", Ozma nodded at the elderly generals comment as they continued on. "Heeeeey! Oz!, over'ere!" Ozma turned to see General Venn sitting on a pile of creates, eating something.
After walking over Ozma spoke to the overly cheerful General "As usual i can see your hard at work Loxa", General Venn moaned as she threw the bone of a chicken leg away in a random direction "Geez just got some lunch, i was out on patrol all morning". Ozma just looked at the energetic General waiting for news which after a few moments General Venn realized what the silence was for "Oh, nothing, nada... just, after them dark creatures attacked a few days ago, i haven't felt right... something was odd".
The Elderly General Grumret spoke up "We beat back an attack from this mysterious enemy without trouble and you find something wrong with that?", Venn shot-up from the create "It was weird though, we mobilized our forces co-ordinated with our allies against these creatures attack, and after barely engaging them they fled back out of the province as quick as when they'd shown up". Grumret went into thought adding "it did seem disorganized but they're just mindless creatures right?".
Ozma having been silently listening chimed in "As if them creatures were an advance scouting force, run in, see our response time, probe our formations & fall back to relay the information". Both Grumret & Venn looked at Ozma for a moment "them ugly beats?" spurted Venn as Grumret followed "i doubt such creatures have the intelligence for such tactics, or even the need from the reports from our allies encounters". General Venn spun to face Grumret for his comment "Now do you see why it's weird, something's up & i don't like waiting around for it to come, it's why i've been focused on patrolling the boarders but, nothin...".
The three stood there in thought when a messenger ran over to Ozma with a new report on the final construction efforts, "Right we'll leave this matter for now, Loxa get some rest don't need you & your troops exhausted if something happens, Now Grumret Lets finish the inspection".
As Ozma went to walk away as an upset farmer ran over to General Venn complaining some of her soldiers where seen near his farm & now several of his best egg laying chickens where missing, General Venn nervously laughed as she heard a deep sigh from Ozma as she walked away with Grumret following.
The young Lt. Larek Mokur stood watching his troops hard at work along the coast with a heavy frown, frustrated at the task he was given & how he was now in charge of the garrison forces to defend the province which was in his mind far away from the front lines & the action where he could be distinguishing himself earning merits.
"Sir that's the trench line finished now, want us to start installing the-" Larek nodded cutting the trooper off "yes, soon enough, but have the men rest for a bit before we start, they've been hard at work for hours already". The trooper seemed really cheerful that he was serving a wise officer fresh from the academy, as the new ones were usually slave drivers who couldn't tell their ass from their elbow for the first few months.
"Yes's sir, i'll let the men know, thank you sir!" the trooper saluted before he turned to head off, leaving Larek overlooking the construction efforts & the ocean beyond them lost in thought. "...did my father actually trust me with an important task?, or is this to keep me safe from harm?", He continued to watch as more supply carts arrive and began offloading additional supplies "...I don't think this is idle busy work, to many resources are being committed for that".
Larek grunted as he turned to storm away his train of thought was broken, as daydreams of earning honor in combat on the front lines again nagged at him.
General Mokur Stood watching his forces steadily march by as they crossed the boarder into allied territory, his second in command appearing at his side "We're making very good time we should arrive at our planned destination before the day is out, unless the weather takes a turn for the worse" the war-magi jested, but he noticed General Mokur look up at the sky "is something wrong sir?" the General smiled as he turned to march along with the passing column "No, i was just expecting it to start raining when you mentioned the weather..." General Mokur chuckled deeply as he walked off, leaving the war-magi standing there stunned at the fact the General laughed albeit briefly to himself but still.
The Long marching parade of Zakol's military gained the attention of passing travelers, amazed children, & greatfull allied scouts & patrols that more allies had arrived to help.
- Large shipments of various barrels, containing the finest Zakolian plumb wines & ales, Sent to every member of the Northern Alliance in an effort to help moral. Each official upon arrival to every alliance members kingdom gives the same warning!, "Ogres have an insane tolerance to alcohol, thus their drinks are notoriously potent and should be drank responsibly & in moderation by other races...".
- Diplomats sent to contact: the remnants of the Krognar Tribe(NPC) offering safe passage & sanctuary within Zakol's territory, in return for military service of their tribal warriors & skilled/agile cavalry. Along with a diplomatic promise if they agreed, that if Alria survived the war with the darkness that Zakol would officially grant a reclaimed province to the Krognar Tribe to own & resettle along with a trade agreement to help them with income through commerce.
- Zakolian Diplomats & Iparis representatives, sent to contact: Bripiak(NPC) to request they redirect any surplus reserve troops to increase the garrison of province(38) to help solidify South Alrias Defense line, From where they could easily move to reinforce the Dolarti Tribe in province(40), & Zakols province of Mandalia(27) if attacked, In return Bripiaks(npc) province(38) would receive reinforcements from Iparis, Zakol, & likely the Dolarti tribe if attacked in return. A Mutually supporting & beneficial defense-pact that would help strengthen the southern front & each involved kingdoms forces.
- Mandalia Province(27) Construction of Defense fortress (tall thick walls, towers, gates, warehouses, garrison, stables, etc...) around the central town of Eren.
- Northern Zakol(18) Dug Coastal defense trench, constructed small makeshift wall, forts, & bunkers, Layed what seemed to be pipes going into the eastern waters (E13), & noted shipments & stockpiling of jars & boxes by the military.
- Southern Zakol(25) Dug a Coastal defense trench, constructed small makeshift wall, forts, & bunkers, Layed what again seemed to be pipes going into the eastern waters (F13), Due to the busy commerce of southern Zakol as a central trade-hub any shipments or stockpiling of goods is indistinguishable from the regular merchant caravans & traders going about their livelihoods despite the war.
- Two Zakolian military forces moved north to support northern allied front against the darkness.
- Andinon Province (15) Established a fortified encampment to operate from, near allied garrisons & supply routes.
- Andinon Province (19) 'Loaned' (Aka politely appropriated) a garrison in a central agricultural town to operate from, Close to allied garrison forces & practically in a supply base. (The princess is royalty so she does occasionally take small liberties she believes she's entitled to... *cough*)

Province 6 Everyday more troops came in, yet the darkness had strengthened with every assault. Still, Andinon would hold as it always had. Something would be figured out to beat back these monsters once and for all. Every nation on the continent and then some was working on defeating this darkness. A lich was said to be the source of it all. However it was doubtless impossible to attack him, no wise commander would venture to the front lines when he had thousands of expendable soldiers to do it for him.
Province 15 Crude proto-types of the Arquebus's are being given to the Calvary to try out. They're not quite perfected yet, still either to much recoil or not enough power. It needed to be just the right mix. The engineers were confident it wouldn't take much more than a season before the weapons were operational. The calvary were at least excited, it would make their job twice as easy, and much more effective.
