Triala would definitely take riding with the sorceress over leading the pack. She's not exactly leader material. Not yet, anyways =P

More relevant though is simply that amongst our party of eight, Triala is the one with the quality horse. This not only allows her to bring message of approach, but if they start shooting she will be the most likely to escape. Lesser beasts of burden that cannot run as fast will increase the likelihood of both riders getting deaded.

Post will probably be up late tonight. It won't move things forward much, but it'll do what it needs to.

Posted. I will definitely be editing for phrasing and such over the next few days, but it gets the job done. Triala has Blackheart again, and the discussion can move forward.

Does it worry Tria that Odran may actually agree with Connor going along with her? Since he's a telepath he'd be able to communicate directly with Odran even without him up at the gates, and then the ability to read feelings also helped.

Hey all

I know I've been kind of ghosting for the past few days or so. College has been rather rough these last few weeks but, I have prevailed with only a few bruises. I think my university took my left arm too. Ah well. Whaddya gonna do.

Anyways, just wanted to say that I am still in this and my response will be up in a bit.

Great posts by everyone too. It was fantastic to sign in after a while and read all of your replies. I'm no GM but I just thought I'd say that. Anyways, to posting!

@Hexaflexagon I was wondering something. When we're naming NPCs or towns do you want us to follow any naming conventions? Like Vorstagian settlements have a bit of a German flair to them or elves tend to have Greek-sounding names? Just a thought I had while I should be doing work of some kind lol.

@Lexicon
Good question!

  • Most of Vorstag in terms of names and towns will generally have a Germanic touch to them. Their will be changes throughout as regional dialects and the like but generally what most people hear is the Upperclass dialect of Vorstagian that originated around the capital and the central part of the Empire. Since it is also the primarily dialect that the soldiers and military uses. This would be more akin to something like the Northern Germanic languages in our world like Danish. So town names are going to have endings like borg, beck, berg, bru, forth, heim et cetra. And with the names to go along with it like Albin, Alvida, Arvid, Heidi, Hella, et cetra.
  • As you get further away from the Capital into the outer laying provinces in the Northern part of the Empire (the part that borders the North) they have German names and conventions.
  • And on the Southern Coasts of the Empire where the Free Cities used to dwell most people will have more Mediterranean influenced names Italian, Spanish, Greek and the like. As the Free Cities were before they were conquered a hegemony of various different cultures that all sort of intermingled together.
  • With Elves it all depends on what kind of elves your talking about. This is because their are two different Elven Dialects left, one is very old and the other is kind of new, a bastardization of Elvish that Elves in the cities and living with the Humans adopted while the raiders out on the plains untouched by human civilization still speak the more purer dialect.
  • High Speech as the "purer" version of Elvish is known is more akin to Welsh and based on Welsh naming and sentence structure and it's where the Emperor get's his name from. All Vorstagian rulers names are in High Speech because it is supposed to be more regal and the like.
  • The Dialect spoken by the city-elves and those that have integrated in with the humans is more akin to Irish in its naming conventions and the like.
  • In the North the royalty and the rich will speak something akin to straight Anglican so British names and nomenclature but the peasantry speaks something more akin to Scots and will follow Scottish naming conventions for the most part.
  • Dwarves uses runes akin to cyrillic, they mostly speak with something akin to a Russian accent and naming conventions vary highly from keep to keep. Because Dwarves don't give two shits about you. xD
  • And finally everyone communicates with another by knowing their own cultural Language, as well as the Trade Language used by Tinkers and other merchants which is akin to American English.

    @FantasyChic
    Yay! Thank you for the heads up!

I have quite a bit to respond to with Thdris, and reading the IC put me back into the overall atmosphere of the story. Personal matters are bleeding into my writing, depression is an ugly thing in relation to work and such. Ah well. I'm hoping to have something up before work tomorrow, otherwise it will be a grueling nine hours on my feet until I'm able to produce something. Luckily my dwarfy-lady is a bit refreshing to write for.

@Rockette
Roger that. But yeah depression can be a bitch sometimes, I've dealt with BPD since I was just a young lad so I know how it feels. It's winter around her so when it hits me its pretty bad because I have no real way to vent out either the anger, sadness, terrible pit of existential dread and feeling that I'm a worthless meat sack on a rock hurtling through space at freighting speeds with other meat sacks all waiting for the day we die. At least when it's nice outside, I'd just run until I can't run no more, something about the feeling of the impact of the ground on your feet and the like. But then I find it's five in the morning and I'm like ten miles from my house but at least I feel better. xD I and probably the others as well are sure to await a post from our lovely dwarf-lady with baited breath.

I'm about five hundred words plus in my post, but it's nearing four in the morning; going to catch some odd hours of sleep before finishing it up!

@Hexaflexagon - Running used to be a method of venting it all out, unfortunately I keep such late hours with work, I get home well after the proper hours, unless I wanted to jog about in the dark, heh. But yes, it's reassuring to have some patience while I work through this current slump, they don't last very long, but can get incredibly deep and dark if I'm not careful. Luckily, writing provides a decent enough distraction.

I'll be honest. I am unsure what to post next. It's not that I don't like this campaign, or my character, or anything like that. I just can't think of a post to follow. And I don't want to make some average post that doesn't do anything. Could be I am just not feeling good today.

Honestly, it seems like folks are just posting their reactions towards the Captain's speech. You could do the same for Colette and include her thoughts on what Odran just said. Not every post has to be earth-shattering and important :) It'll be interesting to see what the rest of us do while Gideon and Connor go talk to the militia.
