I'm making my character last so that I can try to make everything even, but I always used duel blades or the insect glaive, like to rush in and doge like a mad woman.
Well it is always about timing, even thou I always packed some flashbombs and traps when using heavy weapons! Tigress I always found difficult hunt! The mixture of raw damage and speed made me dislike the usage of the longsword (My absolute favourite weapon), as well as the gunlance or the hunting horn (stun damage ftw)! I found the sword and shields perfect against him but the movement pattern of it was rather average!
I just sticked to long sword in the end, like with every other monster xD Only Fatalis got a little treat with dragon damage dual blades!
But I guess we can get creative during the rp right? Because I have some nice and interesting ideas how to add some extra damage! Like a McGuiver!
I mean like packing some bomb material into the mouth of a yian Kutku when he is about to spit fire or glueing a sonic bomb onto your hammer! As soon as Cephadrome is swimming by you just have to hit near him and here ya go!
Or hiding a fassbomb by using raw meat on a big wyvern! As soon as he shallows it, BOOOOM!
@CloseEnough It's a good strat with the quicker monsters since you've got more mobility. Bombs and traps are good and all, but there's nothing quite like stacking on the damage by hand imo. Since I always preferred the lance and greatsword I always assumed the tanky role in a group, which made the quick beasties the bane of my existence. I can't even begin to say how many times I went chasing after lucent narga when it went after someone else only to have it suddenly spin around and fling its tail spines at me. Sad thing is I know it's telegraphed, but that doesn't really help when i'm charging head first and lucent decides to do it a few more times after I barely manage to roll out of the way of the first one. -- @Gravislayer Just gotta be careful about what wyvern you go throwing a bomb into the meat with. Knowing how deviljhos operate there's a very good chance that you'll have just made more room in its gut for us. The deviljho won't just be hungry it won't just be angry, it'll be hangry. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if savage jhos were regular jhos that stayed hangry for too long now that I think about it.
That is indeed true, and since I am almost always seen as a solo player I stay with the quick weapons cause dear god trying to hunt down something like a quropeko is fucking evil when you are armed with a great or long sword. Honestly a well balanced weapon team is what will keep this interesting. (Waiting to have someone accidentally launch me in the air)
@Gravislayer We can get creative. I have been known to bring real world elements into my RPs, so different hunting techniques and ideas are always welcome out here. This a story, and that means sky is the limit when it comes to rules. (Though I'd like to keep it as monster hunter physically believable)
Jesus christ quru was a bitch and a half to deal with. It didn't even have to summon a jho to get my blood boiling either, the raths were more than enough to ruin my day when I was forced to fight both one of them and qurupeco solo.
and even worse is that damn thing would mock you..MOCK YOU!!! I try to hit that damn bird and it would just start spinning around and clapping its starter talons in joy. Little shit.
To my shame I must say I never enjoyed Monster Hunter past the PSP versions! I couldn't stand the DS and I am a Xbox guy all over! To my shame I also lack a decent PC and just find myself using the tablet for most thingies, SO I really never had the pleasure to play the games beyond Monster Hunter Freedom Unite!
Sad but True! Espacially when I see that MH is available on Xbox but only in Japan....Because it wouldn't really sell well on the western market!

Backstory: When she was born, she came down with a horrible disease. This disease basically caused her to be bedridden for six years of her life. From there, the doctors said the most she would ever do was walk with the help of crutches. Enfuriated by this fact, she practiced every day until she was able to walk un-aided. The doctors stated it was a medical miracle, but they doubted she would ever be able to do much but walk. For the rest of her young life, Elysia strove to prove them wrong, often submitting herself to some intense pains to do so. When she reached the age of ten, she was given a clean bill of health, which was surprising to everyone.
As she grew and learned the facts of the world, Elysia was happy with her life in her village. Until she turned thirteen. A monster burst into the village and started to destroy everything. Her mother put Elysia in the storm cellar, convincing her she would be back. Not convinced, Elysia tried to escape, only to get knocked out by a falling support beam. When Elysia came to, the monster was long gone and her entire village was destroyed. With her parents dead, Elysia vowed to become a hunter. She rode a train out of her hometown to a large village far away from her home. Here she found work, helping a blacksmith by shoveling coal all day. She soon learned the blacksmith was a retired hunter. She badgered him into training her to become a hunter. After a long hesitation, the man agreed. He became like a second family to her, and she was happy for many years. When she turned twenty two, the old man passed away in his sleep, leaving her his old Switch axe and iron armor. She vowed to get certified and become the best hunter the world had ever seen.
Other: Has had a dream of taming a monster since the day she was born. Each time she strikes down a monster, she thinks about it again. Even though they've killed so many people.. she can't help but think of how cool it would be to have a giant monster as a pet.
