The Invading Sun

The great Dragon Warrior and the Furious Five have protected the mystical realm of China for many years. Under the tutelage of Master Shifu, senior trainer of the Jade Palace, Po and company have become rock star legends in the Valley of Peace and beyond. But all good things must come to an end, and with time quickly catching up to them, the legendary six make preparations to train the next generation of Kung Fu masters. On the day of the Winter Feast, Po, Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper, and Monkey renounced their titles as The Dragon Warrior and Furious Five.

Everyone in attendance was shocked, even more so when Master Shifu announced his own retirement! Much to Po's surprise, Master Shifu then declared the panda as Jade Palace's new Senior Trainer. Po, though very honored, expressed his concern about taking on such a huge responsibility, to which Master Shifu laughed in his face and said, "Don't be silly. You'll burn everything to the ground if I leave this place in your care." Shifu then turned to the former Furious Five and proclaimed them as The Five Teachers, who will aid Po as his faithful advisers.

With big changes underway, Master Po and The Five Teachers set out to find their successors. They hope to find as many potential candidates as possible before the coming spring, where they plan to host A LEGENDARY TOURNAMENT OF AWESOMENESS to put their skills to the test.

Little does everyone know, a true test awaits them in the form of a mysterious force making its way to China, desolating everything and everyone in its path!

We'll be playing as the Kung Fu Masters in training that will become the next Dragon Warrior or members of the Furious Five.

Name: Tuzi
Age: 15
Animal: Rabbit
Appearance:
Apprentice to Master...: Monkey
Fighting Style:

History: As the oldest of ten children Tuzi always felt somewhat responsible for the actions of his siblings. Ultimately this led him to deal with anyone who bullied one of his many brothers and sisters, something that often resulted in violence. Because of this his father who was one of Po's bunny students and still practiced kung fu though just for fun, asked the kung fu masters to help his oldest son develop the discipline he lacked. The Five Teachers quickly noticed that despite his temper, he showed remarkable talent and drive to improve.
Weakness: He is short tempered and quick to resort to violence.

Name:
Goldmane
Age:
27
Animal:
Lion
Appearance:

Apprentice to Master...:
Crane
Fighting Style:
Firefeet: Through ways unknown even to him, his focus of Ki is phenominal, unfortunately it is only in his legs. With all of his energy generated down, he is capable of amazing leaps and kicks to the point that he actually generates heat out of the pads of his toes. He adds to this by wrapping his feet in wine-soaked bandages and soaking his feet in hot oil.
History: He comes from the same region as master rhino, that is about as much as he remembers. He woke up strapped to an acupuncture table with his mind as pin-cushioned as is back. He's told the operation was a success to restore his ability to walk, but it has come at a terrible price.
Weakness: poor chakra flow: all energy flows to his root chakra and wells there like a battery, but the release flow back into all of the others are in turn quite weak. His over-focus of his feet will only lead him from 'one trick pony' to 'glass-cannon' unless something happens.

Monkey might not be the best trainer for Tuzi especially not if someone makes a tree dwelling character, but on the other hand both of their styles use trickery in a way

Thanks for applying guys! Unless Tuzi or Goldmane have misc info to add, they're both accepted! Please post them in the character section when you can.

I can definitely see Monkey testing Tuzi's nerves lol. It'll make for some fun moments for sure.

Name: Cham-Cham

Age: 20

Animal: Chameleon

Appearance:

Apprentice to Master...: Viper

Fighting Style: The Flying Mop. This defensive style harnesses Cham's diligent cleaning techniques as a janitor. It implements fluid and purposeful movements to parry, counter, and redirect oncoming attacks.

History: Cham-Cham lived in south China of Gongmen City as a janitor to one of the more premiere Kung Fu studios in town. He loved cleaning and considered it a rare art form. However, Master Yeb was not a fan of how he did things. It came to a point where he threatened to fire Cham-Cham if he did not improve the cleanliness of the studio. Unsure of how to get better, he looked to the martial artists who trained in the studio, taking from them whatever he could to make himself a better janitor. So he watched martial artists by day, and unintentionally developed his own style of Kung Fu by night. The end result drastically improved his cleaning duties, as the studio became a spotless beacon. Viper arrived in Gongmen City months after the Furious Five became the Five Teachers.

Master Yeb, as well as other Kung Fu Masters in the city knew that she was here to find her next successor, so they decided to host a tournament to display their skills. The tournament was held at Master Yeb's studio. Many fighters came, desperately trying to grab Viper's attention with flashy moves. She was fairly disinterested for the most part. Then, at the corner of her eye, she spotted Cham-Cham swiftly cleaning up the training grounds. He had delicate grace and speed, using his mop like a spear to deflect droplets of sweat and blood from touching the mats.

After several hours, Master Yeb emerged as the victor in the tournament. In a sudden twist of events, Viper called for one final match. Master Yeb vs. Cham-Cham. The chameleon was caught completely off guard. He declined immediately, but Master Yeb wanted to prove his worth to Viper and attacked him anyways. Much to everyone's surprise, Cham-Cham defended himself well by dodging and blocking. No one knew such skill existed in a janitor. However, the chameleon never fought back, so the fight ended rather anti-climatically with Master Yeb feinting from exhaustion. Cham-Cham was declared the winner by default. Viper found a candidate, and though it took some convincing, he agreed to travel back with her to the Valley of Peace.

Weakness: Cham-Cham is non-violent by nature and will look to avoid confrontation at all costs.

Misc: His motivation to learn Kung Fu is solely based on improving the way he executes his cleaning duties. He agreed to be a candidate because he knew Master Yeb would never let him work in his studio again. Plus, he always wanted to try Mr. Ping's famous noodles.

Name: Tenzen Gushisae
Age: 19
Animal: Andrias Japonicus (Giant Japanese salamander)
Appearance: I honestly cannot find one, so I will have to explain his looks. Tenzen is a slender man that seemed more like an old man. His back is arched and his body is wrinkled. The entirety of his body is silky and a dark purple. His eyes are beady and his mouth is wide. His body is drapped over in a raggedy old brown cloth similar to that of a Tibetan monk's garb. He sometimes wheres small specticals usually carries two rugsacks over his huanch. His feet are covered in cloth.
Apprentice to Master...: N/A, his potential was realized by mantis however.
Fighting Style: Though it is clearly a mixture of real life akido, thai chi and fut gar, Tenzen does not call it that. Tentez has decided to call this style the river's walts. It consist of movement similar to southern fist and lost tracking fist where the user seems to move awkwardly and with no real rhythm or rhythm, while using this to get to less defended or dependable areas. This style also focuses on redirecting focus, energy and movement both in themselves and others. This style's greatest weakness is relying on others to be predictable enough to counter with ease. Grabbing, joint locks, and sweeps are very common in this style. It is clearly an internal fighting style.
History: Tenzen has always been a rather disciplined child. He and his father trained to catch fish with their hands since they he was young, and this improved him in almost everyday. Standing in the cold water strengthened his will power, and the rushing current made his body strong. Catching the fish taught him patients, and he learned his own technique as each fisher did. One day, when a group threatened those of his village, he watched in awe as the furious five saved the day. He watched them fight back the bandits with ease, and he noticed that each one of them did the same thing as he did. Strengthen their body and mind, enhance their instincts and create their own technique to use in combat. He too wished to something like this, kung fu seemed so flashy and amazing.

While they where still in town, being celebrated, Tenzen rushed through his chores to meet them. Unfortunately, he was not quick enough. They where out of line of his voice and could not here them call to him. Tenzen feared for the worst, that his last ticket to the world of martial arts was long gone. Fortunately for him, he was a disciplined boy. While catching fish reluctantly two days later, a beggar asked him to show him how he did so only using his hands. Tenzen was more than happy to explain, and in doing so, the beggar helped him realize this was similar to a fight. To find the next spot a fish would be in and spooking it right into place in his hand was very impressive. With this new knowledge he gained a new outlook on things. After that, every day he would train, using what he saw from a nearby martial arts temple and everything he remembered from the battle. He noticed his body helped him fight similar to the viper, mantis and panda of the group. He perfected his fighting style rather quickly, as he helped defend his home from bandits who thought they where still with enough forces to fight. Satisfied with his work, he would then go off to find those warriors he met and prove to them he was a great warrior.

Tenzen searched for a very long time, encountering new fighting styles that required new skills and techniques to defeat, and learning from them as well. Finally, he found the masters in their element, or atleast one of them. After a whole year of searching, mantis revealed himself to tenzen. The salamander begged him to teach him, but mantis denied him and left him outside of the shack he was in. Tenzen did not leave, instead began to work to give mantis more time to train. HE caught fish for him, chopped wood, did all the work, learning from the bits and pieces of training he saw and implementing them into his style. He asked everyday for mantis to accept him, and every day he was ignored. Finally, he was training on his own one day and mantis watched from afar. It was a very unique style, one unlike what he had seen by others. Eagerly, the insect offered Tenzen a chance to be in the furious five, and he eagerly agreed.

Weakness: Tenzen is somewhat slow. While so many others start fast and gradually get faster, he starts slow and becomes fast last second. This gives a slightly bigger time for people to counter. He is also not able to kill. He could never bring himself to kill another animal that isn't a fish.
Misc: Tenzen's body is covered in a special oil he creates himself. It makes him very slippery, but also somewhat flammable.

Name: Yuguai

Age: 23

Animal: Turtle/Tortoise

Appearance: This was the best I could do.

Apprentice to Master...: Tigress

Fighting Style: It generally reflects his laid back attitude, being almost entirely defensive and non-aggressive. The most note-worthy aspect of this strange style of fighting is the creative use of the turtle's shell in combat, for it is used as both a shield and weapon at the same time. Some of his maneuvers involve retreating into his shell to endure an opponent's blow, or to do so while in aerial movement and ricocheting off of enemies. What little aggression shown in this style is, interestingly enough, far more passive than active. It can be accurately be described as the pacifist's style of fighting.

History: One of China's greatest bodies of water is the river Jiang. It is wide and flows in branching paths from various points inland until it comes together and spills into the sea. Many different towns and villages built their existence on the riverbanks, relying on it for fishing and easy transport. One of those ports was Teiping, birthplace of Yuguai. The son of a fisherman, Yuguai's father had always been a mystery to him. The only thing he actually knew about him was that he was once a wandering monk of some sort before settling down in Teiping. Before his father passed away, Yuguai spent his youth practically living on the family's fishing ship, the Morning Tide. He learned how to sail the river, to fish, and mysteriously enough, some basic Kung Fu techniques from his father at a young age. However, Yuguai's father fell ill and passed away when Yuguai was still a young teenager. He continued to practice what he learned, but never really advanced himself any further when it came to fighting and self defense. Instead Yuguai chose to take to the water, inheriting the Morning Tide and sailing up and the down the Jiang with only the vessel itself as his sole companion.

Yuguai continued the family fishing business of course. He had to earn a living after all. But very recently word reached the Jiang that the Dragon Warrior and Furious Five were renouncing their titles. Shocking news to be sure, but Yuguai thought nothing of it himself. He had little interest in the goings on at the Jade Palace and instead preferred life on the Jiang. Soon after, something strange happened. A mysterious stranger came to Guai and bartered passage along the Jiang aboard Guai's ship. This was not so uncommon, as many fisherman on the Jiang doubled their vessels as transports to earn a bit of extra coin. And so, with an albeit mysterious passenger aboard, Guai set out down the river on what he believed would be a routine trip to the coast and back. This trip turned out to be anything but normal. Somewhere along the way, the Morning Tide was set upon by pirates, bandits using stolen boats to attack other vessels for their cargo. This wasn't Guai's first tussle with pirates, and in fact he held his own against them as he had done before, managing to repel their assault and force a retreat. It was his passenger that made the pirate attack interesting, for she easily dispatched a single pirate that approached her but otherwise just observed Guai fight the rest. When it was all said and done, Guai questioned the passenger's motives, now finding her rather suspicious. She revealed herself to be Master Tigress of all people, explaining that she was traveling along the Jiang in search of someone she could take on as an apprentice. Having already noticed Guai's nimbleness and spry climbing skills when traversing his ship's rigging, she needed only to see him in real combat before making her decision.

Guai was reluctant at first. His ship was practically his whole life, not to mention his entire livelihood. And here Tigress stood asking him to leave it behind and come train with her at the Jade Palace. It wasn't a decision Guai could make lightly, and he told Tigress as much. She took the response gracefully however, and insisted that they at least complete their planned trip to the coast and return trip to give the turtle time to think it over, and Guai agreed. Along the way, Tigress described what kind of training and potential adventure Guai could find by coming to the palace. In return, Guai spoke to Tigress briefly about his father, and about how much of an enigma he was. Sensing an opportunity, Tigress vowed that should Guai return with her, he would surely find some answers about the mystery that was his father. This offer, it turned out, was too good to pass up, and so Guai left the Morning Tide with Tigress and returned with her to the Jade Palace.

Weakness: Yuguai may be skilled at climbing and can endure even the hardest of manual labor thanks to his background as a sailor and fisherman, but he is also a bit of a pacifist. Deep down he really doesn't enjoy fighting like others might, and instead is often quite hesitant to do so out of fear of causing unintentional harm. There are also times where he would honestly prefer to just go out on the water and fish as opposed to train.

Misc: Yuguai is in no way related to Master Oogway. Just wanted to clarify that in case anyone was wondering.

@Double Yuguai is accepted!

Thank you all for putting in the effort to making these characters. We have an interesting bunch so far and I look forward to seeing them all in action.

For any lurkers looking to join, please feel free to do so. It's ok for the Five Teachers or Po to have extra apprentices.

With Ace getting a sheet ready, we'll probably start this weekend on Saturday afternoon, pacific standard time.
