I appreciate the compliments and confidence, but I don't want it to be at the expense of others. This thread has only been dedicated to questions, ideas, and hype-building. It's all about speaking your mind. Just because I ask a lot of questions doesn't mean I'm the cream of any sort of crop. Keep everyone up, not just someone you perceive as 'better' since we're all in this together to make this work :D

That being said, @ProPro Can you tell us your stance on NPC characters--like family and friends? The mentor I have in mind is a father with three daughters. I wanted to know if, because he works with Galatec, he could have managed to keep his family from becoming influenced by them in the way most of the population has?

Yeah, that's more than ok. In fact, a lot of Galatec has family that relocated with them. By all means, have yourself some daughters.

@Wade Wilson Well don't get too carried away, hahaha. You don't even know what the regular ranger outfits look like just yet. That said, I'm open to suggestions and ideas if you come up with some. Just send them over our PM.

@ProProWhat's the highest level of martial training allowed for the "loyal human" types you spoke of? I mean, this is Power Rangers so almost any level of skill will take some form of bad-assery but I need to know if my estimations of a certain scenario are off the mark.

@Kouki Don't think about it too hard. Badassery is something that ebbs and flows through the universe in Power Rangers. Even Bulk and Skull could kick the asses of putties (albeit in a comical way). As long as this backstory doesn't involve taking on entire squads of Githkin (a couple unmorphed are ok) then you'll be fine.

Can a father who faked being affected by the water have secretly taught his son boxing/kickboxing?

@alexfangtalon I don't know, could he? Does he know it well enough to teach? If he's not affected by the various manipulations and brainwashing methods used by Galatec, then the only thing that would stop him is being found out, or not being able to do it.

@ProProIf my backstory works his dad was a MMA fighter who worked in small promotions. Definitely not UFC though.

Hi sorry for not having said anything in a while. I think everything is fleshing out in a really cool way and I want to thank everyone for asking thought-provoking questions and making contributions.

I want to ask what forms Galatec complacency can take. For example, some forms of complacency are 'glad', as in, "Boy, I love Galatec!" Other forms are less glad, for example, hopelessness, as in, "Galatec is my only option, I better not act up or I'll lose my job and my family." Then there's distraction, as in, "I'm too busy with trying to make ends meet to even think about 'what-ifs'." All are, in essence, effective forms of brainwashing and population suppression. Like people in my country don't vote because they think the system is rigged (AKA hopelessness), and consumerism and a 'suffering economy' (AKA distraction) keeps people so involved with work that they don't stop to question the system.

I'm just wondering if the brainwashing takes different forms depending on people's personalities, like some people are most complacent when pleased, while others are most complacent when faced with soul-crushing hopelessness. If possible, I'd like to make someone who was one of the hopeless 'sheeple' who was somehow 'woken up' to his/her plight by some event. This person would have serious doubts about their abilities and be overall rather pessimistic.

Alirght guys, assuming that these things aren't as smart as they are strong, I think we'll be able to defeat a number of them through simple maneuverability. If we use our surroundings properly and disrupt their movements with precise strikes, we can avoid their blows and throw them to the ground. The key will be to focus on redirection not frontal assault. I'm going to say that throws will be the most effective, seeing as their weight isn't proportionate to their strength, we can use this to our advantage.

While in ranger form, our blasters can serve as a means to disorient them and our special weapons will be perfect for powerful strikes. Two of us can act as decoys while two more play the role of strikers. While B-team disorients, A-Team can come in with the final blow. It all depends on what special weapons we choose, an area-of-effect type weapon would work really well here.

I mean, I know it's silly since once we first start, it won't be anything but running around and screaming for the first couple of battles but I'd like to think we can create formations like this in the future right?

@alexfangtalon That works.

@Stern Algorithm Fantastic question, and very well thought out! You get a cookie. All are viable forms of brainwashing/complacency.

@Kouki You remind me of a friend of mine that always puts immense thought into the strategies and most effective forms of doing just about everything. He helped me with my initial brainstorming and will be attempting to join as blue ranger.

Update on OOC progress: Completed basic premise, section on villains, Galatec in general, regular populace, working on section for the heroes (the largest by far) which has completed details on the mentor and assistant, and the rangers themselves. Working on morphers, then I'll have left the outfits/weapons/powers, the zords, the rules and expectations, and finally the CS. Still waiting on my roommate to get the image of ranger suits done. If anyone would like to volunteer to draw the design for the morphers, please let me know. I cannot draw for crap so it would be super appreciated.

Anybody that is interested can send me a PM on the subject, and I will send you the description (as soon as I finish writing it up, should be only a few more minutes, yay using lunch time!). The one that I like the best will be put in the official thread.

In the meantime, discuss potential morphing calls. I'm at a complete loss and I'd like you guys to actually enjoy the morphing call, so get to it. DO MY WORK FOR ME, SLAVES!
