I think...I might...go with the assassin. I think quick vs quick will be a little more interesting to write, rather than quick vs slow.

Plus, It'd be interesting to have someone actively seeking out the Rangers.

edit:
and also because i've been playing too much dishonored

@alexfangtalon I don't have much to say about him. He seems like a standard character. I will say that he looks a little older than just 16 but other than that there's not a lot for me to say--well, except that prepare for him to be protected at all possible times because he's a wittle baby~

@Renny Probably all those positive vibes you were sending lol. Thanks again for the vote of confidence :3

@Stekkmen Unless you have drawbacks for teleportation, like a recharge time or a limited amount of times you can do it in a certain period, I don't see your idea of an assassin being a fun foe. There's difficult foes with depth, and then there's 'avoid everything while believing you are amazing', and I'm speaking for myself here: I don't believe that teleporting enemies always equal 'fun' or 'challenging', because at any time you can just say that, despite whatever comes your way, you simply teleport somewhere else to avoid danger. If you balance it, maybe it'll be something that people will WANT to fight, but again I'm speaking for myself and no one else. Everyone else might be cool with that.

Other general sounds like the standard juggernaut meathead who sacrifices speed for size and endurance. Can't say anything bad about that.

@ProPro If we really need another General and no one applies, I'll offer to double.

Plus, I didn't want those two to make another CS or whatever, they seemed to really want to be Green and Blue respectively and this just kind of ties everything up in a neat bow.

ties everything up in a neat bow.

Primary Weapon:THE PHOTON BOW

I see what you did there.

Also, sorry for the delay, here is my blaster description and sample. The sample is kind of short and doesn't show her as a ranger. let me know if it is acceptable:

Blaster Design:

Clementine's blaster is a short pistol with a yellow, rounded square barrel. The handle and trigger are black. The gun is small and lightweight, with its center of gravity being in the grip rather than too far to the front near the barrel, allowing Clementine to handle the weapon with considerable ease. The weapon also has little to no kickback, preventing drift and allowing Clementine to fire repeatedly in the same direction without losing too much accuracy. The laser sight attached under the barrel also helps. The weapon doesn't make Clementine a great shot though, if anything, the ease of use of the weapon compensates for her initially poor marksmanship.

Also, here is a video that I think is relevant to Clementine's character:

*slaps across face*

No....just...no...

@SoleAccordI don't see what you mean, green, yellow or blue could probably beat her on their own as she is now.

Wanna know how now?

Or you wanna wait till the game starts?

@KoukiIt's less about the actual fighting and more about how 'fun' it would be to deal with. I have no beef with dodging attacks or escaping setups, but when it's something as effortless as an ability that allows it is when I get skeptical. Had I made a ranger centered around battle, I wouldn't be pressed; part of growing is failure, and even if I made a youth donning the mantle of a ranger I'd be happy to let them lose so they can come back stronger from the encounter. But it's hard to trust people with the power of instantaneous movement--which I assume Stekk was going for, since I don't recall any limits put in place other than the dagger mechanic. Fun and challenging can be one and the same, but that might also ask for character limitations, and in my experience most people don't like leaving holes.

Stekk talked about how it will hold his entire weight and how it travels faster than the average dagger, narrowing the window of vulnerability due to travel time that would normally be required. I see the flaws in his design and know how to counter it, but that isn't the point. My point is how long can one handle the possibility that their efforts are made wasted because he decides that he's fast enough to throw his weapon out of the way--a weapon that travels faster than a typical weapon of similar type--and renders everything useless? It takes a great deal of trust not to abuse the power of complete avoidance.

Generals are meant to be tough, and that's the idea. I get that. But if every encounter is going to come down to speed and who decides they avoided what, I'm afraid that things might become repetitive. But I don't decide who will get bored, this is just my own fear that's putting that in my head. I've had the displeasure of dealing with speed and evasion based writers years back and it's turned me off to the playstyle--or writing style I guess I should say--almost entirely. This isn't Stekk's problem, it's pretty much mine. I got worried and brought it up because I don't want anyone getting pissed about how these early fights might go.

I don't know a lot of things. I don't know how he'll write this character, how he'll use her, or how everyone will respond to what challenges come their way. So I'm going to just shut up now and let this be handled how it'll be handled when it appears. So until this starts--or if I'm @mentioned or whatever--I'm going to just keep silent. Sorry about that folks.

Small update: (Again) I might be a little later with my CS. Personal stuff has came up so despite working on it just now, I lost some time today to work on it. Should have it up soon as I can though.

@SoleAccord

The draw-back I had in mind is that she would have to throw an special dagger to a place before teleporting to it. So the assassin throws it, it sticks in the wall and then she can teleport there. She'd have two of them. She could potentially stick on in the ground and teleport into it later, but I imagine the teleporter only has a limited ranger anyway.

Other than that, the assassin would just be a really skilled and stealthy fighter to be the tough boss fight.

EDIT: I thought about, and decides that it probably won't go faster than the average throw, too. Plus, I'm a Play-to-Lose kinda guy. I'm not gonna play to defeat you and I won't pull out any random "OH YEAH WELL" moments either. That stuffs just kinda silly.

But I like the idea of it being hold her weight so she can stick to walls and ceilings, and climb them too. I just think that's neat and is a good way of her traversing from roof-top to roof-top or something like that.

Alright everyone, so we have everybody that's required to start except for our main villain (who technically isn't necessary to kick things off) and the mentor. I PM'd Matt asking if he was still interested in doing this just a few minutes ago, so we'll see what happens there. In the meantime, if anybody else is interested in the role, then please don't hesitate to get a CS up for it.

@SoleAccord Samara could easily be reworked for the role if you wanted to go back to it.

@ProPro Samara could be reworked, yeah, but I wouldn't say easily. Gotta put the work in. It won't be a matter of just changing the age and appearance--not from me, anyway. I don't do that. Everything about her would be different.

Henry Morgan was originally going to be the Mentor character I would have written. If Matt declines the role and no one else shows interest, I can double, but I'm going to ask that you let me skip the history section of the CS. Never enjoyed that part.

@SoleAccordIf you end up having to go for Mentor, I think Samara as she is now would make for a very good character.

A young woman with this huge role thrust upon her. Her emotional development alone would be extraordinary to see.

But I get the desire to not be lazy, plus getting to see how you write a whole new character is pretty enticing too.

@mattmanganonYay, another CS to read! I can't wait to see who you make, just don't make him a dog alien that somehow fits in a Power Ranger suit even though his head is like, three times the size of the helmet...

@Kouki I don't feel as if I can comment on anything anymore without looking like a pretentious ass. I'll just say that I'm looking forward to using her regardless of the role, and go back to doing nothing but waiting.
