Murder, and other heavy crimes are more frequent and a murder case isn't going to be a priority. The Federal government siezed control of weapons upon election of the new president, you can find them... but it's tough. To bring everyone into the story, your character would likely have heard this broadcast....

As far as recorded history goes for our little green planet, the largest world powers usually collapsed within the first 300 years of their brief existence... The United States, well... Let's just say we're barely around the 240 year mark. It is with my deepest regret that I inform you of this predicament. If you can make it, head to New York... Avoid the large cities, the protests and riots are getting worse. Gangs are running rapid, and they pray on the weak. Head up the Hudson river in Upstate New York, continue along the road. You will know when you found it, their is a sanctuary... Follow the Hudson Road.***

This role will take place in 2022, the growing tension in the world had risen to frightening peaks. One by one the smaller nations collapsed, colliding in with treachery and treason as the terrorist foundation seemed to root. Bombings in every country, death and famine. The United States had began to all but collapse during the beginning of 2016, but the government assured everyone things would be ok. Despite the threat of Nuclear war, suicide bombings, mass shootings, and even civil dispute the word everyone knew had became a thing of the past. As the United States began to crumple, the nation divided. It started with political protests, over time dividing the nation into two sides... The war was everywhere, vocal confrontations in the streets soon turned to violence. When the new president was elected, the superior court was filled with members of the far left that pushed for gun control. Some obeyed, and some did not... Martial law was eventually announced, and the nation was thrown into chaos. Home was no longer safe, outside was no longer safe... The only thing for people to do was travel, in the hopes of finding some kind of sanctuary. Groups turned into gangs, gangs turned into bandits... Nothing and no one was safe in the United States, and the terrorist threat had suddenly gone silent... Something was not right. The only solution is teamwork, you're going to need to make some friends.
