Turn 1: NathanielNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 5/5 cards in hand
Megan & Camryn: 8000 LP, 5/5 cards in hand
"Alright, ladies and gentlemen! It's time for our first ever Performapal-Wind-Up Team-Up! And I'll start this off by summoning Performapal Skeeter Skimmer!"After his proclamation, Nathaniel slapped his card onto his Disk with a grin. On command, an orange insect appeared in front of him. As was the case for all Performapals, it had a top hat and a bowtie. It also had white gloves decorating the ends of all six of its legs.
Performapal Skeeter Skimmer: 500 ATK 1600 DEF Level 4 WATER Insect
"Then I'll set two cards and end my turn."Probably not the most exciting first turn, but first turns don't tend to be very exciting in general. Hopefully Haas had some level 4s.
Turn 2: MeganNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 2/5 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 8000 LP, 6/5 cards in hand
Megan glanced at the field and back at her hand. Well this could work out rather well. With only a turn or so of work she could get out a fairly powerful monster, have a back-up card, and be able to get some work done.
"Alright, I'll summon my Goblin Attack Force in attack mode, set one card, and end my turn." She remembered what that nasty skimmer did. While he was in attack mode he got to negate the triggering attack and switch to defense mode, which meant it essentially required two attacks in the same battle phase to be destroyed. She wouldn't be tricked so easily this time.
Goblin Attack Force: 2300 ATK 0 DEF Level 4 EARTH Warrior
Turn 3: HaasNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 2/6 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 8000 LP, 4/5 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 1 S/T
"Alright, my turn! Draw!" Haas announced, drawing his next card with a wide arc. His face lit up a little, knowing he could make something of it. But... That Set card of Megan's worried him. Something wasn't right, and Haas couldn't just use his ally's monster and leave him defenseless, right...? Yeah, maybe it was best to hold out for now.
"...Alright, I'll summon my Wind-Up Hunter!" Haas declared, placing his card down on the Duel Disk. From the ground rose a centaur-like green toy, with a brown cape flowing in the wind behind it. Over its right eye was placed some kind of red scope, and it's right arm was a crossbow.
Wind-Up Hunter: 1600 ATK 500 DEF Level 3 DARK Beast-Warrior
"Now, I'll activate Supply Squad!" the boy continued, with a green bordered card picturing the very same force of goblins materializing onto the field.
"This'll do. I'll set a card, and end my turn!" the boy finished, with a card back materializing next to Nathan's cards. Haas turned his head to look at Nathan, having a pretty apologetic look on his face for not doing more.
Turn 4: CamrynNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 2/3 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 4 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 8000 LP, 4/6 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 1 S/T
"Alright, looks like we're off to a pretty good start! I draw!" Camryn eagerly whipped her next card off of her deck and placed it in her hand.
"I'll start off by setting two cards." She slid the mentioned cards onto her duel disk, which then materialized in front of her.
"Next, I'll activate a spell card! Deepspace Beacon!"As the spell card appeared on the field, a small point of light appeared on the field, flashing intermittently.
"With this, I can add one Deepspace monster from my deck to my hand. And I think I'll grab good ol' Deepspace Scout!" As she took said card from her deck and added it to her hand, the beacon on the field winked out.
"Next, I'll summon my Scout!"The beat-up white and orange ship appeared hovering on Camryn's field, occasionally wobbling as one of its engines failed momentarily.
Deepspace Scout: 1200 ATK 800 DEF Level 4 LIGHT Machine
"Next, I'll use its effect to bring out another member of the fleet from my hand. C'mon out, Deepspace Suffocator!"The next ship that was summoned could not have looked more different from its fellow. Its ten wings were seemingly made from sword blades, and save for the occasional blue, glowing light along the sides and in the front, it was entirely gunmetal grey. It was also completely silent.
Deepspace Suffocator: 1200 ATK 1000 DEF Level 4 LIGHT Machine
"Right, that looks like the end of my turn. Over to you, Nate!"Turn 5: NathanielNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 3/3 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 4 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 8000 LP, 4/2 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 3 S/T
Nathaniel gave Haas a cursory glance as he drew his next card. It looked like Haas didn't have any level 4 monsters after all. In that case, he was going to have to improvise.
"Next up: Tuner monster Al-Lumi'raj!"As Nathaniel placed his next card on his disk, a blue rabbit-like spirit galloped its way to the field beside Skeeter Skimmer and Wind-Up Hunter. It had a single shining horn on its forehead, illuminating its eyes while the rest of its body was transparent. However, one could make out a faint blue silhouette of its body.
Al-Lumi'raj: 1600 ATK 1000 DEF Level 3 WIND Wyrm
"And when Al-Lumi'raj storms the stage, it brings a little present for everyone. Its light causes all monsters on the field to lose attack and defense points equal to their levels and ranks multipled by 300!"The spirit's horn glowed brighter and brighter as its light enveloped all other monsters on the field, sapping their strength.
Al-Lumi'raj: 1600->700 ATK
Performapal Skeeter Skimmer: 500->0 ATK
Wind-Up Hunter: 1600->700 ATK
Deepspace Suffocator: 1200->0 ATK
Deepspace Scout: 1200->0 ATK
Goblin Attack Force: 2300->1100 ATK
Camryn sighed deeply.
"Unfortunately, Suffocator's effect now activates. Since a monster reached 0 ATK while it was on the field, all those monsters are sent to the graveyard. So that's both of my monsters and Skeeter Skimmer."A red warning sign appeared in the center of the field, saying
"Warning! Low oxygen!" At the same time, both of Camryn's monsters suffered a spontaneous engine failure, falling to the ground, inert.
Nathaniel's eyes widened as Skeeter Skimmer flopped on the ground with its legs up and double X's in its eyes before disappearing into pixels.
"And since Skeeter Skimmer was sent to the Graveyard, it seems I don't get a draw from Supply Squad. That's a bummer..." He muttered.
He had to admit that these Deepspace cards were interesting. He had never seen effects quite like them back home. Although he did know some who used those old Arcade Monsters, which these were oddly reminiscent of. Either way, he took note to exercise caution.
"Since none of our monsters can take on Goblin Attack Force, I'll end my turn."Turn 6: MeganNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 2/3 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 4 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 8000 LP, 5/2 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 3 S/T
Hm, that was an exciting turn. Goblin Attack Force still had more attack than anything else on the field including that wierd dragon thingy. If she used him to attack than got rid of him for a bigger monster, she'd have to take out the nasty dragon so her next monster wouldn't have its attack limited. Or she could just wipe out the opponent's field altogether and rely on Camryn to press the advantage. If worse came to worse she could stall out untill she got more monsters. Yeah, plus she'd still have her Goblins in defense mode.
"Alrighty then, I'll summon my D.D. Warrior Lady to the field in attack mode. Then I'll enter the battle phase and use my Goblin Attack Force to wipe out that Wind-Up Hunter!" The horde of goblins, though diminished in power, still eagerly charged foward, swinging their clubs to tear apart the toy monster
D.D. Warrior Lady: 1500 ATK 1600 DEF Level 4 LIGHT Warrior
D.D. Warrior Lady: 1500 > 300 ATK
"Yeah! Get 'em, Megan!""I activate the Quick-Play Spell Card Ego Boost! When a monster declares an attack, I can target one monster on the field and have that monster gain 1000 attack points! Looks like the hunted, just became the Hunter! Wind-Up Hunter, that is!"As the goblins charged at the living toy, it suddenly grew bigger and bigger, eventually towering over them all. With a swipe of its crossbow, it sent the entire goblin squad flying.
Wind-Up Hunter: 700->1700 ATK
Megan & Camryn: 8000->7400 LP
"Alright, nice one Nathan!" Haas yelled to his partner, with a stupid grin plastered across his face. He gave a thumbs up as well.
Megan let out a small noise of distress at the destruction of her monsters. That ruined, like, the whole plan! Now should she bother taking out another monster? And if so, then which one? If she took out the dragon thing Hunter would get its attack back. But if she sucided her warrior lady she would take over 1000 dmg. Maybe it would be best just to hold back for now and see what next turn brought. After all, as long as that dragon was on the field they couldn't take all that much damage anyway.
"Um, I guess I'll just end my turn." she said quietly, rather dissapointed.
"...Oh. Well, that sucks. Still, we're definitely not out of the running yet! We just have to get rid of that weird mirage thing!"Turn 7: HaasNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 2/4 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 3 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 7400 LP, 4/2 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 3 S/T
"Back to me, then! Draw!" Haas announced, only giving the card he drew a brief glance. That reminded him...
"Nathan, you said that monster was a tuner right?" Haas asked him, turning their head to the left.
"If I remember correctly, when you use a tuner and a non-tuner monster you can Synchro Summon right?" they continued, with a glint of mischief in his eyes.
"Because in that case..." Haas spoke, ending his sentence just before hitting the climax.
"By adding up the levels of a tuner monster, alongside the level of one or more non-tuner monsters, a Synchro Summon is performed. You can only Synchro from your side of the field, naturally, and only during your Main Phase unless a card effect states another time." echoed the teacher's words in the boy's head. They took a deep breath, and then...
Nathaniel eyed his partner suspiciously, muttering
"What are you...?" before widening his eyes in realization. This was not happening. There was no way. Not in
Wind-Ups!
"Time to get this show rolling! Focus your attention on me, 'cause I'll show you what happens when we work together!" Haas suddenly commented out of nowhere, trying to get the spotlight on him for a little while.
"I tune my partner's Level three Al-Lumi'raj to my Level three Wind-Up Hunter!" they cried out all of a sudden, with Al-Lumi'raj running forward and bursting into three futuristic looking green rings. They lined up perfectly mid-air, after which Wind-Up Hunter jumped into them and transformed into three little blue stars.
"When the stars align, the tri-headed behemoth unleashes its power!" the boy began chanting, as if knowing these words by heart.
"Synchro summon, Level 6! Ravage, Celestial Wolf Lord, Blue Sirius!!"Whilst chanting, the blue stars had become enveloped in a flash of bright light that seemingly shot through the roof, barely contained by the green rings. When it dissappeared, alongside Haas' announcement, a large humanoid wolf-ish creature stood in its place. Metal plating covered each of it's three heads, with two of them being in the place you'd expect its hands to be. The silver armor had spikes the length of the average human leg, with a chestplate closely resembling an intimidating face kept securely in place by the golden chain extending to both heads from behind its back.
Celestial Wolf Lord, Blue Sirius: 2400 ATK 1500 DEF Level 6 DARK Beast-Warrior
D.D. Warrior Lady: ATK 300 > 1500
A synchro monster? An impressive one at that. Megan had thought Wind-Ups were a XYZ deck but apparently they could do more since he must've used summoned that monster from his own extra deck, or maybe Haas's deck was just weird. Megan's hand dropped to her Set card momentarily, then she relaxed. She would wait to see if it was needed, if that wolf tried to bust through her Warrior Lady he would get banished and Cam would be free to attack them next turn. Besides Cam might have something better to use.
Camryn gawped at Haas' Synchro Monster.
"Whoaaa... That's so cool! I wonder if there are any good Synchros I can put in my deck..." She was lost in thought for a bit, pondering what Synchro monsters she knew of that would be a good fit in her deck. Suddenly, it clicked that her opponent suddenly had a very strong monster, while she and Megan definitely did not. Her face paled.
"...Oh, crap.""Synchro..." Nathaniel muttered as he stared incredulously at the new monster that had appeared beside his ally. Nathaniel had hoped Haas could provide a powerful monster, but he didn't expect him to do it through a Synchro Summon. Still, he couldn't complain. Haas had taken his Tuner monster and put it to good use. Now the only obstacle between them and field domination was... D.D. Warrior Lady. Nathaniel shot a quick look at Haas, frantically hoping for him to summon another monster.
Haas picked up the next card from his hand by holding it between his index and middle finger. He dramatically swung his arm into the air, extended it, and then came down with the card image showing to both Camryn and Megan.
"Alright then, time for the next toy to wind itself up for us today! I'll normal summon the always-cute Wind-Up Dog!" He cheerfully continued the turn, retracting his arm to slam the card down onto the disk. The little blue dog depicted on the card shown earlier jumped up from out of the floor, with its oversized collar hanging loosely from the neck. Its triangular jaw snapped open and shut a few times, just as they let out a few high-pitched barks.
Wind-Up Dog: 1200 ATK 900 DEF Level 3 EARTH Beast
"And now," Haas snapped his fingers, with a playful smirk sporting their face. The golden key on Wind-Up Dog's back started spinning rapidly, making the creature's eyes go wide and suddenly start running in circles to chase its own tail. After a little bit of this, the key suddenly burst out from its back and landed somewhere further into the room.
"Because it's so excited, it'll get a six-hundred attack boost and a level increase of two!" Haas explained, with the dog growing slightly larger as well.
Wind-Up Dog: ATK 1200 > 1800, LV 3 > 5
"Not so fast, your doggy isn't doing anything!" Megan annouced after a brief moment of deliberation. Her trap card flipped up and chains raced out from it, wrapping around the dog and preventing it from growing, keeping at the same size and more importantly, the same attack, too weak to defeat Megan's Warrior Lady in combat. Megan had been hoping to save it until it was more helpful, but she needed to keep her Warrior on the field to get rid of that synchro monster.
Wind-Up Dog: ATK 1800 > 1200, LV 5 > 3
"Ah! Dog!" Haas cried out in slight panic, realizing his strategy just got subverted. Dog also cried out in pain at the sudden tightening, calming down again but still having lost its key. He... Didn't see that coming. But, there was something on the field that could help Haas...
"Alright then, how about this instead? Trap card, activate! Zenmairch!" the boy responded, with a trap card depicting Wind-Up Magician scooting off with one of the signature golden keys, trying to outrun Wind-Up Juggler.
"It'll get him out of there! By returning Wind-Up Dog to the hand, it allows me to Special Summon my Wind-Up Rat!" the boy countered, with Dog shattering into tiny yellow particles.
Megan was forced to watch in dismay as her chains shattered along with the dog, making her efforts for the most part useless. Argh, maybe she should've used it on the Wolf anyway. Gah it was so hard to make decisions like this.
In dog's place, a small little plastic rodent on wheels drove out from behind Haas. Its cute looks complimented the general sillyness of Wind-Ups, and it squeaked at D.D. Warrior lady in greeting.
"But what is a Wind-Up without a little Winding up?" Haas questioned with a wink, the golden key on Rat's back also turning now. The creature perked up and started squeaking rapidly, spinning around in place at speeds no toy should go. The speed opened up a whirlwind around Mouse, and from seemingly nowhere the Wind-Up Hunter from earlier launched out from it and landed into the dirt, face first. Mouse collapsed in a similar manner soon after.

Wind-Up Rat: 600 ATK 600 DEF Level 3 EARTH Beast
Haas took a deep breath. Okay, he'd gotten this far... Now for the finishing touch!
"Hey everyone, this looks similar to earlier doesn't it? I have two Level three monsters again..." Haas teased, taking a step back. The stupid grin from earlier never vanished, and after another deep breath their voice rang loud:
"I'll overlay my Level three Wind-Up Rat with my Level Three Wind-Up Hunter!" the guy cried into the ether. A black hole opened up within the middle of the field, sucking in all forms of matter and light. Rat and Hunter started glowing, before turning into a thick brown and purple, pulsating beam of light respectively. The two beams jumped into the vortex, swirling together as one before a flash of light. All this, whilst Haas chanted:
"Your fixing of machines never ceases, so lend me your aid! Xyz Summon, Rank 3! Mechquipped Angineer!!"From the flash of light emerged a blue-armored humanoid fairy. It had no arms, but instead for sets of wings spread out in an X-shape. The thing flew through the air at rapid speeds, augmented by the two boosters, one attatched to each bottom wing. The thing had no visible face.
Mechquipped Angineer: 1800 ATK 1000 DEF Rank 3 LIGHT Fairy
"Let's continue this turn, straight into the Battle Phase! Angineer, would you do me the honor?" Haas politely asked his companion, who took off into the sky. It floated near the roof of the room, scouting out the enemy warrior with the scanners inside of its helmet. After locking on, Angineer made a sudden divebomb for the woman. It seemed to want to crash straight into her using its wings.
Camryn looked frantically at her field, checking to see if she had anything to halt the attack. She picked up one of her facedowns, and her face split into a grin.
"Perfect! I activate my trap card, Draining Shield!" As one of her set cards opened up, D.D. Warrior Lady suddenly swung her sword up to meet Mechquipped Angineer, and a blue-tinted shield of energy sprang up in front of her, centered on the blade of her sword. Behind her, the edges of the shield stretched over to Megan and Camryn, filling them with energy.
Megan & Camryn: 7400 -> 9200 LP
Megan let out a sigh of relief as her monster was saved from certain death at the hands of the fairy robot. Well goody, now they even had enough extra LP that using Warrior Lady to attack that synchro wouldn't even put them that much below what they started at. Of course getting through that fairy robot would take a bit of effort given its effect, but at least the big gun would be out of the picture.
"Nice play Cam." Megan said, with a look of gratitude to her teammate.
Camryn chuckled and flashed a "V for victory" at Megan.
"Thanks, Megan!"Haas winced as Camryn's trap card sprung up and negated his effort, but this wasn't enough to make him give up just yet.
"Ah... Well, alright then! If my Angineer doesn't get to show off, then maybe Sirius will?" he asked his opponents before stretching out his free arm.
"Celestial Sirius, destroy D.D. Warrior Lady instead!" the boy commanded. The tri-headed demon roared a mighty roar, then crouched down into a sprinter's starting position.
"One, two, Three!" Haas quickly counted down, with the wolf rushing forward on the count of three. Sirius slashed at D.D. Warrior Lady, trying to dig its claws in and slice her in half.
Nathaniel sighed as he buried his face in his palm.
No wonder he's in Earth... Still, it was either lose the Synchro or lose the Xyz. At least the Synchro gets them a bit more damage.
Megan shrugged pragmatically, this would've happened next turn anyway, so whatever. It was still a shame to watch her monster get sliced in half and pixilate. Of course as it did so a small black hole like thing formed in the center of the shards and began sucking them in, along with the monster that had destroyed it, banishing both of them.
Megan & Camryn LP: 9200 -> 8300
Haas blinked a few times when D.D. Warrior Lady ripped open the rift between space and time, before shouting out
"WHAAAAAAAT?" for comedic and dramatic effect. His hands shot to his hair, ruffling it whilst looking up at the roof.
"Oh, come on! It had that effect?! Why did nobody tell me about this?!" Haas cried in frustration, before lowering his head and hands in a sulk.
"I guess, uh, that'll be the end of my turn..." the boy sulked.
Megan giggled a bit at Haas' reaction to her monster's effect. Honestly she'd thought he'd known about it, but maybe that was unfair. After all she hardly knew what any of his wind-up monsters did, but it was still funny, even if she felt a little bad for him.
Turn 8: CamrynNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 2/3 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 8300 LP, 4/3 cards in hand, 2 S/T
"O-kay, big money, big money, no whammy, no whammy... I draw!" Camryn grabbed the top card of her deck impatiently. After considering her hand for a few moments, she said
"I'll start off by activating Burden of the Mighty!"As her spell card hit the field, a debilitating aura descended onto Nathaniel and Hass' side of the field, though it didn't seem to affect Mechquipped Angineer at all.
"And... Well, the best I can do is set a monster. Your guys' turn.A set monster appeared on Camryn's field.
Turn 9: NathanielNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 3/3 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 8300 LP, 5/1 cards in hand, 1 Set Monster, 3 S/T
"Alright, I draw!" Nathaniel took his next card, drawing an arc of light in the air. Haas's last turn had its ups and downs, but they were still in the lead. Now they just have to press the advantage.
"I'll bring out Performapal Spikeagle for our next act!" He slapped a card onto his Disk, and a familiar bird with spiked wings appeared beside Mechquipped Angineer. It had the usual top hat and bowtie, and a pair of shades decorated its face.

However, a malevolent red aura began to surround the bird as its attack points began to dip.
Performapal Spikeagle: 900->700 ATK
"It looks like our friend is a little under the weather at the moment, but no matter! He's still good enough to perform, right?" Spikeagle responded to Nathaniel by spreading its wings, and the light glistened off of its sunglasses.
"Alright, then I'll activate his special ability! Once per turn, I can target one monster on my side of the field, and bestow the ability to inflict piercing battle damage this turn! I target Mechquipped Angineer!"Spikeagle raised its wings and flew to the air, circling around Mechquipped Angineer. Soon, the mechanical angel's wings became just as sharp as the wings on Spikeagle.
"Alright, time for battle! Mechquipped Angineer attacks your face-down monster!" Nathaniel cried, pointing triumphantly at Camryn's newly set monster. In response, Mechquipped Angineer flew to action, soaring into the sky before swooping down to slice the monster with its new bladed wings.
Camryn breathed a sigh of relief.
"Fortunately, my Deepspace Stunner can't be destroyed by battle once per turn!"A green, asymmetrical ship that looked less built and more grown appeared where Camryn's set card was. It was surrounded by a bright green shield. (DEF: 900)
Dang. She stuck it out. But at least..."You still take the damage." Camryn winced as Angineer's wings, though blunted by Stunner's shield, went past it and struck her.
"True, but it could be worse."Megan & Camryn: 8300 -> 7400 LP
Nathaniel knew that Performapal Spikeagle didn't have the power to break through those defenses. In that case, there was only one thing left to do.
"Then I end my turn here."Turn 10: MeganNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 2/3 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 7400 LP, 5/1 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 3 S/T
Megan her next card with a slight frown. This card was just soo troublesome to use. No matter, she had plently more to play. Luckily Cam's monster was still alive, so she could summon a big monster. Plus if worst came to worst she had a back-up plan.
"Alright Cam, I'm afraid I'll have to take your Deepspace Stunner as a tribute." Megan flashed her an apolgetic smile.
"In order to summon Freed The Matchless General!" The green spaceship vanished and in its place appeared a formidable amoured warrior, with impressive facial hair.
Freed the Matchless General: 2300 ATK 1700 DEF Level 5 EARTH Warrior
"
Now that I've got enough attack power to break through your monsters, I'll use Freed to smash your Angineer." Megan annouced and her monster obeyed, charging forward and unsheating his sword for a powerful swing. Of course Megan had seen Angineer before and knew its effect, but they had to break through it sooner or later.
Freed rushed forward, just as a single yelllow ball splashed open on Angineer's chest.
"By detaching one Overlay Unit I can switch one ATK position monster to Defense position and negate its destruction!" Haas explained, with the X-shaped wings shooting forward and protecting Angineer's front like a shield. The sword clashed, but didn't have much of an effect.
Angineer Overlay Units: 2 > 1Megan nodded expectantly and glanced at her hand once more. No, she didn't want to play it yet. The more use she got out of it the better. Besides even if her General did get taken out they easily had enough LP to take a few more hits, though hopefully it didn't come to that.
"Turn end."Turn 11: HaasNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 2/4 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 7400 LP, 4/1 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 3 S/T
"Alright, my turn! Draw!" Haas announced, drawing his next card with force. He glanced sideways at said card, smiling.
"I'll start off this turn by Normal Summoning my Summoner Monk!" Haas spoke, placing the monk on the field in Attack position. The purple robed old man rose from the ground with a tired look on its face, and decided to sit down with their legs crossed instead of standing up.
"I can't Normal Summon it in Attack position, because he'll just sit right down and go to defense anyway." Summoner Monk: 800 ATK 1600 DEF Level 4 DARK Spellcaster

"And now, via my monk's effect, I discard my Falling current to the graveyard," Haas continued with the turn. He revealed the green bordered card by showing its front for about a second, then inserted the thing into the graveyard.
"And on that note, I'll have to hold off on calling any of my cute little toys. Instead, I think I'll bring out something a little more... Human. From my deck, I Special Summon Master of the Flaming Dragonswords in Attack Position!" the boy informed the other pair, barely able to keep the excitement contained inside of him. A single card jutted out from Haas' deck, so he proceeded to place it on the field. Next to Summoner Monk began rising a tanned, shirtless male with hair reminiscent of wild flames. Their twin swords weren't on fire like usual, though, because of Camryn's Spell Card.

Master of the Flaming Dragonswords: 1800 > 1400 ATK
Aw yeah. This was great. Haas had two monsters of equal levels out, so next up was...
"Time for another Xyz Summon!" he yelled at the top of his lungs. The black hole from before opened up in front of everyone once more.
"I'll overlay my Level 4 Summoner Monk with my Level 4 Master of the Flaming Dragonswords!" The boy declared his materials, with the two turning into a purple and reddish orange beam of light. Both pulsated in place for a bit before jumping into the vortex, swirling together and creating a flash of light similar to before.
"Creator and overseer of the toys, enter upon the battlefield and demonstrate your might! Xyz Summon, Rank 4!" The boy chanted with all of his lung capacity, trying to get it all in one breath. From the flash of light started to raise a figure, comprised of various miscallanious things like Rocket Boosters, pyramids and disjointed arms with a sleek Green, Purple and White paintjob.
"Come on, Wind-Up Zenmaister!"Wind-Up Zenmaister: 1900 ATK 1500 DEF Rank 4 EARTH Machine
Haas grinned like a child at the playground when his Ace Monster ascended onto the battlefield, looking glorious as always.
"This card's my ace monster. And not only that, but Zenmaister gains 300 ATK for each Overlay unit it has!" Haas explained his effect, holding out three fingers to accentuate his point.
Wind-Up Zenmaister: 1900 > 2500 ATK
"I'll switch my Angineer to Attack mode first," Haas announced as Mechquipped Angineer's wings stopped acting like a shield, and got placed behind them again.
"And now I'll attack with Zenmaister!" the boy cotinued with his turn. The mixmatch of parts raised up its right fist, aiming at Freed before firing it off with a rocket-powered jet on it's tail end.
Megan & Camryn: 7400 -> 7200 LP
"Nathan, mind if I borrow Spikeagle for a bit?" Haas asked the other boy whilst having an awkward expression stuck on his face.
"Erm... Anyway, Performpal Spikeagle... Uh, do your thing.""Sure thing. Spikeagle, show them what you can do!" Spikeagle took to the air and and flapped its wings, unleashing a rain of sword-like pinions down below.
Megan & Camryn: 7200 -> 6500 LP
"And finally," the brown haired boy began to speak.
"It's time for my Mechquipped Angineer to finish what he couldn't, err, do before! I'll make a Direct Attack with him!" he declared, with the fairy mechanic rising up into the air and locking on to the two girls. It divebombed once more, this time going in a C-shape to hit both of the other players one after the other.
Megan & Camryn: 6500->4700 LP
Whew... What a turn! Haas couldn't believe how big of a lead he'd gotten the two into. They were actually quite proud of themselves now! But after all that excitement, the end of it was a little awkward
"And then, uh... I guess I'll end my turn." the boy kind of just stammered out, looking a little embarrassed.
Turn 12: CamrynNathaniel & Haas: 8000 LP, 2/2 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 4700 LP, 4/2 cards in hand, 3 S/T
Camryn grit her teeth.
"You guys are doing pretty well, but so long as Megan and I have a single life point left, we'll never give up! I draw!" She drew her next card with a flourish, merely glancing at it before slapping it onto her disk.
"I special summon Cyber Dragon in attack position!"The iconic metallic dragon rose out of the ground, screeching mechanically.
Cyber Dragon: 2100 ATK 1200 DEF Level 5 LIGHT Machine
"Next, I activate my facedown, Call of the Haunted, to bring back my formerly-junked Scout!"The battered ship returned to Camryn's field, now with a fairly large dent in its hull and emitting a worrying hissing noise.
Deepspace Scout: 1200 ATK 800 DEF Level 4 LIGHT Machine
"And that's not all! Since Scout has returned from the junk pile, it brings back another member of the fleet too! I special summon Deepspace Stunner once again!"The organic-looking green ship returned to the field next to its fellow. The windows, which were previously lit up, were now dark; presumably its trip to the Graveyard had messed up its lighting systems.
Deepspace Stunner: 1200 ATK 900 DEF Level 4 LIGHT Machine
"Right, time to turn this thing around!" I hope. "Cyber Dragon, attack Mechquipped Angineer!" The dragon did as its master told, and fired a bluish-white laser from its mouth.
Suddenly, Nathaniel whipped out a card from his hand.
"Not so fast! Before your Battle Phase, I activate the effect of my Performapal Rain Goat! I can discard this card during the Main Phase, and prevent one Performapal monster I control from being destroyed for the rest of this turn!" A figured manifested on the field clad in a star-decorated raincoat. The shape suggested that of a goat, but the one inside was shrouded in shade. It soon engulfed Spikeagle in its embrace, coating him in a layer of water (and destruction) proof protection.
Haas questioned the need to protect Spikeagle like that, but his partner must've had one. Why else would he have done it? But aside from that, something more pressing was drawing the boy's attention.
"And, I'll use Angineer's effect as well! By detaching an overlay unit, I'll be able to prevent it from being destroyed!" they replied to Camryn, with the last remaining yellow orb that circled Angineer splashing open on its chest. Much like before, the wings that normally faced back protected them like a shield and had Cyber Dragon's burst harmlessly bounce off of it.
Mechquipped Angineer: Overlay Unit 1 > 0
"Ergh... That puts a crimp in my plans. Well, whatever. At least I can still inflict some damage! Scout, Stunner, attack Spikeagle!"Deepspace Scout fired on the small, cartoonish eagle with a laser gun that seemed close to overheating at any given time, while Stunner's missiles seemed a bit more stable. Both sets of projectiles flew through the air towards Spikeagle, with the missiles weaving through the air and the lasers flying straight as an arrow.
The lasers and missiles bounced right off of Spikeagle's shiny new coat, but Nathaniel and Haas weren't so lucky. The projectiles swept the ground in front of them, kicking up dust as their life points decreased.
Nathaniel & Haas LP: 8000 > 7000
Camryn sighed. This duel was really not going well for her and Megan. Still, it was pretty fun, and they still had enough LP to be able to make a comeback.
"And that'll be my turn. Your go, Nate."Turn 13: NathanielNathaniel & Haas: 7000 LP, 2/2 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 4700 LP, 4/1 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 3 S/T
Nathaniel breathed a sigh of relief. He had seen Camryn's Deepspace monsters before, and he knew what their gimmick was. Suffocator may have got the jump on him, but there was no way he was letting that happen again.
"My turn! Draw" The card that greeted him was one that he always liked. It was a little plain, but it was certainly useful.
"I'll bring out a special guest next! Fluffal Leo!" The monster to appear next was a little yellow stuffed lion. It had bandages on its little legs, and a big smile on its whiskered face. It hopped its way onto the field, and stood on all fours with its legs together.
Fluffal Leo: 1600 ATK 1200 DEF Level 4 EARTH Fairy
Fluffal Leo: 1600->1200 ATK
"Now I'll switch Mechquipped Angineer to attack position and begin the Battle Phase! First, I'll have our guest Wind-Up Zenmaister attack Cyber Dragon!" Zenmaister was quick to respond to Nathan's declaration, raising up both of its floating fists and cracked its neck. Its eyes darted around the room to look for the target, before finding Cyber Dragon and shooting a single rocket-powered fist at it, smashing through and destroying the metallic dragon.
Megan & Camryn: 4700->4300 LP
"Now, please give a warm applause for our next guest! Mechquipped Angineer attacks Deepspace Scout!"Angineer folded its wings back into their normal position and scanned the area for its target again. They soon found it in the form of a small, floating spaceship. The fairy engineer took to the sky, spun around once, then shot straight down at the poor thing. In mere seconds Deepspace Scout was reduced to scrap as Angineer's top left wing crashed through its front.
Megan & Camryn: 4300->3700 LP
"Of course, Fluffal Leo wants to play too! I'll have him join in on the fun and attack Deepspace Stunner!"On Nathaniel's command, Fluffal Leo let out a growl and pounced on Deepspace Stunner, with its wide open jaws showing off some pretty impressive chompers for a stuffed animal.
"I know Deepspace Stunner can't be destroyed by battle, so it might seem like Leo's at a bit of a disadvantage, but he's not all bark and no bite. You see, when Fluffal Leo declares an attack, he gains 500 attack points until the end of the Battle Phase!"Fluffal Leo: 1200->1700 ATK
Fluffal Leo jumped onto Deepspace Stunner and bit down on the organic-looking ship. The stuffed lion flung the poor ship around in its chompers, shaking a few parts loose, some of which rained down on Megan and Camryn. Eventually, the little toy got bored of this activity, and released the contraption from its grip before returning to its owner's side.
Megan & Camryn: 3700->3200 LP
"Now that Fluffal Leo's had his fun, I'll switch Performapal Spikeagle to defense position and end my turn."Turn 14: MeganNathaniel & Haas: 7000 LP, 1/2 cards in hand, 4 Monsters, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 3200 LP, 5/1 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 2 S/T
Megan winced at the onslaught of blows. Things really weren't looking too good for them and unfortunatly she didn't have anything to reverse the battle, merely stall for time. Even getting another tribute monster out wouldn't be enough to defeat that nasty Wind-up Robot they had. Of course she didn't want to tribute Camryn's monster because her stalling tactic failed they were really done for. But, wouldn't they be done for anyway if it didn't work?
If she set this... well with a little bit of luck she could out attack him, but it would require a full three turns or a lucky draw midway. The safest thing to do would just be to,
"Alright, I'll play the spell card Swords Of Revealing Light!" The powerful glowing swords slammed onto the battlefield, seperating the two sides rather diffentivly.
"Then I'll set one monster and end my turn."Turn 15: HaasNathaniel & Haas: 7000 LP, 1/3 cards in hand, 4 Monsters, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 3200 LP, 3/1 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 3 S/T
"My turn! Draw!" Haas shouted, picking up the next card from the top of his deck. His face turned sour when he saw which card it was, knowing it wouldn't help them in this situation.
"Ergh... I'll end my turn." Haas immediately declared, without having done ANYTHING. The Swords of Revealing Light were in his way.
Swords of Revealing Light: 1 turn
Turn 16: CamrynNathaniel & Haas: 7000 LP, 1/3 cards in hand, 4 Monsters, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 3200 LP, 3/2 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 3 S/T
Camryn took a deep breath and exhaled, slowly.
C'mon, Lady Luck, gimme something that can work in our favor... Or would that be RNGesus? Let's go with both of them. "I draw!" When Camryn saw the card she had drawn, she wasted no time in putting it onto her duel disk.
"Ladies and gentlemen, let's hear an encore for Deepspace Suffocator!"An identical copy of the silvery, knife-like ship from before appeared on Camryn's side of the field, silent as ever.
Deepspace Suffocator: 1200 ATK 1000 DEF Level 4 LIGHT Machine
"Next... I'll stick with changing Stunner to defense position and ending my turn. You're up, Nate."Turn 17: NathanielNathaniel & Haas: 7000 LP, 2/3 cards in hand, 4 Monsters, 2 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 3200 LP, 3/1 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 3 S/T
"Then I draw."As Nathaniel drew, he eyed Deepspace Suffocator suspiciously. The card had the effect to send any monster who ATK is reduced to 0 to the Graveyard. However, there doesn't seem to be any cards that can do that for the moment. Both of their backrow were open books, so unless Camryn suddenly banishes all of Megan's monsters from the Grave and summons a Gearspring Spirit, they should be fine.
"I set one card face-down and end my turn."Swords of Revealing Light: 2 turns
Turn 18: MeganNathaniel & Haas: 7000 LP, 1/3 cards in hand, 4 Monsters, 3 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 3200 LP, 4/1 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 3 S/T
Megan draw her next card and viewed it with some relief. Alright, just had to get her monster out, load him up, and smash some robots up. Too bad it seemed she wouldn't get to use her Swordmaster again. Oh well.
"Surprise! It's the Standby Phase, which means that Suffocator's effect activates! Now all of your monsters lose 300 ATK!"A loud hissing noise could be heard on the field, and it suddenly became just a bit harder to breath.
Performpal Spikeagle: 700 > 400 ATK
Mechquipped Angineer: 1800 > 1500 ATK
Wind-Up Zenmaister: 2500 > 2200 ATK
Fluffal Leo: 1200 > 900 ATK
"I'll tribute my face-down monster to set another one in its place." The image of Command Knight briefly appeared on the field before dissapearing. Megan gave Cam a wink,
"Just a bit longer, turn end!" At least assuming they didn't have any nasty effects waiting in store for her. After all if this next turn failed she'd be useless for a while. Still, at least Cam's field was building up nicely.
Turn 19: HaasNathaniel & Haas: 7000 LP, 1/4 cards in hand, 4 Monsters, 3 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 3200 LP, 3/1 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 3 S/T
"Alright, My turn! Draw!" Haas yelled for consistency's sake, swiping his next card in a long arc.
"Looks like we're startin' to get in trouble, huh...?" Haas commented on the situation and turned his head to make his eyes meet the card he'd drawn earlier.
"...Argh, damnit! Sorry, Nathan... Can't do anything here. I'll set one card and end my turn!" Haas apologized to his partner, right before the holographic card back materialized on the field.
Nathaniel saw that Haas was starting to become frustrated, and decided to offer some words of reassurance.
"Don't worry, we'll make a comeback soon enough. Look..."He pointed to the last sword of light, which slowly began to dissipate.
Swords of Revealing Light: 3 turns
"...Swords of Revealing Light is now gone. We just have to wait one more turn."Turn 20: CamrynNathaniel & Haas: 7000 LP, 1/3 cards in hand, 4 Monsters, 4 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 3200 LP, 3/2 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 2 S/T
"I dunno, Nate, that one more turn might not come! I draw! And once I move to my Standby Phase, all your monsters lose 300 ATK once again!"Performpal Spikeagle: 400 > 100 ATK
Mechquipped Angineer: 1500 > 1200 ATK
Wind-Up Zenmaister: 2200 > 1900 ATK
Fluffal Leo: 900 > 600 ATK
"Next, I'll be moving into my battle phase!""Uh hey Cam." Megan interjected somewhat awkwardly, as she didn't want to ruin Cam's flow but it was kind of important.
"Mind flip summoning my monster for me? It'll make this a whole lot easier trust me.""Huh? Oh, yeah, sorry! I flip summon Megan's mystery monster!"Said monster turned out to be Mystic Swordsman LV6. As the snazzily-dressed young man appeared on Megan's field, he whipped his sword about with a flourish, intent on showing off his skills.
Mystic Swordsman LV6: 2300 ATK 1700 DEF Level 6 EARTH Warrior
"Deepspace Suffocator, win back the game for us! Attack Performapal Spikeagle!"The steel gray, bladed ship, silent as ever, revealed a nasty-looking laser cannon on one of its front wings, which it fired at Spikeagle with ever-increasing speed.
Performapal Spikeagle was visibly sweating as it turned around, desperate to escape the attack. However, the laser proved to be too fast for the little guy, and Spikeagle disappeared into tiny pixels as the beam hit it dead on.
"Well, it's not all bad. Since Performapal Spikeagle was destroyed, he can still leave us something to remember him by. Thanks to the effect of my partner's Supply Squad, I can draw one card when my monster is destroyed.""And what also happens is that Suffocator's third and final effect activates! One of your monsters lose ATK equal to the number of LIGHT Machine-type monsters with 1200 or less ATK I control times 200. I count two, so now your Wind-Up Zenmaister loses 400 more ATK!"Wind-Up Zenmaister: 1900 > 1500 ATK
"Next target acquired! Mystic Swordsman LV6, attack Wind-Up Zenmaister!The youth nodded, then charged at the brightly-colored mech, doing a few fancy flips on the way.
"AAAAAAAAAATTENTION!" Haas shouted over to all three of Megan and Cam's monsters, with the two ships and the swordsman flinching. They scrambled back to get in line, with the ships being unable to do much in the way of a salute. So, the boy excused them. Mystic swordsman had no excuse though. He botched the salute and was sweating profusely.
"SOLDIER! That's NO way to behave! DISMISSED!" Haas commanded, with the white-armored man getting blasted into the air via explosions springing up from the ground.
"...And that's it for my trap card, Attention! Thank you for your time." the boy finished with a bow.
"Ergh... Well, it was definitely worth a shot. Sorry about your Swordsman, Megan. Anyway, before I end my turn, I've got one more thing for ya! I activate a second Burden of the Mighty!"As the second copy of the infamous spell card hit the field, Fluffal Leo drooped even more, seemingly having grown weary of the duel.
Fluffal Leo: 600->200 ATK
"And that'll be the end of my turn. Go ahead, Nathaniel."Turn 21: NathanielNathaniel & Haas: 7000 LP, 3/3 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 3 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 3200 LP, 3/1 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 3 S/T
Nathaniel looked at his partner appraisingly. Haas had saved them out of yet another tight spot. The kid may not have a lot of experience, but he certainly had potential. Now, they can finally turn this around.
"Alright, time to make a comeback! Draw!" "I begin by activating the effect of Wind-Up Zenmaister! I detach one Overlay Unit from this monster to target one monster on our side of the field, and switch it to face-down defense position. I target Wind-Up Zenmaister!" As Nathaniel declared the activation, he could not help but feel a little giddy. It was his first time actually detaching an Overlay Unit from an Xyz Monster, and for once, he could understand how all the Xyz-users feel when doing so. It was such a rush!
Regardless, Nathaniel had other matters to see to. A single orange orb floated its way to Zenmaister's center before disappearing in a flash of light. The key on Zenmaister's back started to spin just as the orb splashed open. Zenmaister's left fist suddenly detached itself and wildly flew around the room, before coming down by punching the ground in front of it.Wind-Up Zenmaister's card back suddenly flew up from the floor, and comically smashed down on the machine to hide them under it.
"And now, I'll flip Zenmaister face-up again." True to his word, Zenmaister once again appeared on the field by tossing the card into the back of the room,proceeding to clench its mechanical fists and look ready for action.
"And since Wind-Up Zenmaister was flipped face-up, his attack points are reset, although he gets a little less of a boost than before."Wind-Up Zenmaister: 1500->2200 ATK
"Alright, time for battle! Wind-Up Zenmaister attacks Deepspace Suffocator!"Zenmaister cracked the knuckles, but before they could do anything else, their rocket pyramid started to flare up. The toy looked confused for a moment, looking down only to see that the thing was uncontrollably spinning in place. Zenmaister started to freak out, placing both of his hands on top of its undersized head as it started to whirl around right there on the spot. It got so fast that the toy flew up in the air and turned upside down, transforming into an improvised spinning top. Said spinning top also raced forwards and crashed right through Suffocator. After the ship had exploded into pieces of scrap that flew past Camryn and Megan, Zenmaister's wild turning came to a screeching halt and made it fall face-first onto the floor. After a bit of comical head turning, scratching and scrambling the toy eventually made its way back to Nathan and Haas' field.
Megan & Camryn: 3200->2200 LP
"Then I'll switch Fluffal Leo to defense position before setting a card and ending my turn."Turn 22: MeganNathaniel & Haas: 7000 LP, 2/3 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 4 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 2200 LP, 4/1 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 3 S/T
Megan drew her next card with a half sigh and peered at the field skeptically. Well she could inflict some damage if she wanted to. The problem was that she would proceed to have her monster and her equip spell destroyed the following turn and then she'd be really helpless. Plus with the way things were going they would have something like Magic Cylinder and things would get really hopeless. She'd already made the mistake of comitting to much when she'd lost her Command Knight. But if she didn't then Stunner would be destroyed and they'd have no defense. Besides, assuming all went to plan they would be only 100 LP down.
"Bah humbug." Megan muttered to herself then continued on, "I'll normal summon my Twin-Sword Marauder, then I'll activate the equip card, Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou by discarding my Gearfried The Swordmaster, and equip it to him." The fierce twin blade wielding warrior had one of his normal arments replaced by the oversized malcious looking Flamberge. He seemed to enjoy the weight of it and swung it around as though to test before turning to look at the two monsters weaker than him.
Twin-Sword Marauder: 1600 ATK 1000 DEF Level 4 DARK Warrior
Twin-Sword Marauder: 1600->2100 ATK
"With that setteled I'll enter the battle phase, starting things things off by attacking that Fluffal Leo and defense position won't help because he inflicts piercing damage!" With that command the maruader lunged forward, aiming to impale the burdened monster with his shiny new blade.
Nathaniel braced himself against the shockwaves as Fluffal Leo was torn apart.
"Thanks to the effect of Supply Squad, I am once again able to draw a card."Nathaniel & Haas: 7000->6100 LP
"I'm not quite finished. My Marauder can attack again if he attacks a defense mode monster, which means I'll be using him to take care of your Angineer next!" Her marauder looked up from his freshly pixelized kill and charged forth again, this time swinging both his blades together in a mighty overhead crash upon the fairy robot.
Nathaniel looked desperately at the little robot. It had served them well, and Nathaniel can try to save it, but it would not be without cost. Plus, it had used up its Overlay Units and was already worn from multiple applications of Suffocator's effect. Maybe it was time to let the little guy rest. Still, there was one thing Nathaniel can do.
"I activate the effect of my Trap Card, Pinpoint Guard! When my opponent's monster declares an attack, I can Special Summon one Level 4 or lower monster from my Graveyard in defense position! I Special Summon Summoner Monk!"The figure clad in dark robes appeared on the field once more, and this time, it was surrounded by some sort of protective aura.
Summoner Monk: 800 ATK 1600 DEF Level 4 DARK Spellcaster
Summoner Monk: 800 > 0 ATK
Nathaniel & Haas: 6100->5200 LP
Megan glared at the monk in frusteration. Well there was nothing she could do about it now. They would be probably be able to do something fancy with that and bring out another XYZ monster or something. It seemed every time Megan tried to do anything things just got worse and worse. Restraining herself from sighing Megan quietly said,
"Turn end."Turn 23: HaasNathaniel & Haas: 5200 LP, 3/4 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 3 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 2200 LP, 1/1 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 4 S/T
Haas looked in amazement as Nathan played, quite honestly being stunned at how he used both of their effects, even better than Haas would have ever thought to use them.
"Whoa..." was all he managed to let out after Megan ended her turn.
"...I didn't even know I could use my own effect that way, Nathan. I won't let you down! My turn, Draw!" the boy told them, before picking up his next card. The sight made his eyes widen. With this, he could...!
...Wait, no. The boy paused for a moment and thought about it. Sure, he could do something cool this turn because of Nathan bringing back Summoner monk... But was that really the way to go? There's something else in Haas' hand that might just be better, even if it wasn't as flashy. Argh... What does he have do here? Entertain, or play optimally? Haas was torn between those to, before thinking about his partner once again. Nathan had been doing both, the boy realized. That's what made up Haas' mind. He'd just have to take a page out of his partner's book for a little bit.
"Alright, here we go!""First up, let's let a new monster make her entrance! I'll summon my cute little Wind-up Juggler!" Haas announced with excitement in his voice, a blue vortex appearing from Wind-up Zenmaister's left. Out of that blue little hole in the ground sprang up a toy with a green dress and the signature Wind-up Key on her back. It jumped around with a little golden spring jutting out from underneath the dress, and was juggling five different colored gears in the air, which were all stuck inside a transparent plastic ball. Burden of the Mighty's red aura surrounded her soon enough though, making Juggler wince and yelp out slight cries of pain.
Wind-Up Juggler: 1700 ATK 1000 DEF Level 4 WIND Psychic
Wind-Up Juggler: 1700 > 900 ATK
"Oh, dear. Seems like our new little star is in a bit of a pinch... Unfortunatily, we can't help her at this moment. But at least she can rest for a bit, as Wind-Up Zenmaister will attack in her stead! Maister, would you please clear the way for our main actress for today?" Haas asked the towering construction, who looked down and nodded to them. It launched one of their rocket-powered arms forward once more, but this time it wasn't clenched into a fist. Instead, it was an open palm. The hand shot up above Twin-Sword Marauder at first, then after passing it by, came down again to grab the scruff of its collar. Zenmaister shook its index finger from the other side. The warrior looked a little confused at first, but came to realize what was going on soon after they were starting to be lifted up into the air. It pointlessly struggled as Zenmaister sent its other hand forward as well, grabbing Marauder a little lower on the backside. Both hands then tossed it out of the arena a little ways away.
Megan & Camryn: 2200->2100 LP
Haas nodded in approval, giving his Zenmaister a thumbs up.
"Now that our bouncer has kicked out the unwanted guests, it's time for the main act!" the boy announced, and Juggler seemed to have regained her composure whilst al this was going on. In fact, her balls were lying on the floor next to her whilst she was prettying herself up for the big scene.
"You see, she hasn't attacked yet. So, Juggler, if you'd please?" Haas politely asked his monster, who looked back in annoyance as she wasn't ready yet. Still, they started juggling those gears again and sprang around the field in dance. One of Deepspace Stunner's systems must have been enjoying it, because they floated right on over to join Juggler in the dance. The two of them twirled around the field in unison, sparkles flying everywhere to emphasize it all.
"And now, the finish!" Haas shouted on over, and Juggler dropped her five balls to the floor to offer a hand to Stunner. It didn't exactly have any hands to offer, but
did beep in approvement. So, Juggler grabbed the ship by its weapon systems and jumped around with it on the field, before ending it by letting them twirl away from her. Stunner was so happy about the performance, it flew around wildly in a craze and exited by smashing through the roof, never to be seen again. Wind-Up Juggler's key dropped out of her back at the end of it all.
"When this lovely lady battles a monster, it is destroyed at the end. But wasn't it all worth it for that dance?" Haas questioned the two ladies on the other side, before him and both of his Wind-Ups bowed down respectfully.
"With that, I end their performance and my turn."Nobody was able to see it, but Haas was internally freaking out over that whole affair. A few sweatdrops on his forehead betrayed the cool exterior.
"Please don't laugh, please don't laugh, please don't laugh...!" were the words that echoed inside the boy's head. This was his first time even
attempting this sort of stuff.
Turn 24: CamrynNathaniel & Haas: 5200 LP, 3/3 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 3 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 2100 LP, 1/2 cards in hand, 3 S/T
Camryn was... shocked, to say the least, both by the ease with which her and Megan's defenses were dismantled and by what happened with Juggler and Stunner. She started to say something, but stopped herself.
"...Y'know what? I'm not even gonna question what just happened there. I draw." She breathed out in relief. Her new card wouldn't help them win, but maybe it'd let them hold out for just a bit longer.
"I summon Cyber Larva in attack position."A small, worm-like, mechanical creature appeared on Camryn's field, chirping happily.
Cyber Larva: 400 ATK 600 DEF Level 1 LIGHT Machine
"And with that, I'll end my turn. Your turn, Nate. Try not to beat us too badly, haha." Truth be told, Camryn was beginning to think that Nathaniel and Haas had backed her and Megan into a corner that they couldn't get out of. The only thing for it was to just stall and see how things came out, it seemed to her.
Turn 25: NathanielNathaniel & Haas: 5200 LP, 4/3 cards in hand, 3 Monsters, 3 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 2100 LP, 1/1 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 3 S/T
Nathaniel was quite impressed with Haas. It seemed his partner was surprising him at every turn, and had brought them ever closer to victory. Plus, it seemed that he had the joy of an Entertainment Duel within him as well. Nathaniel smiled. They were so close, one more turn could do it. He placed his fingers on his Deck, and drew his card with a determined grin.
"Draw!"He looked at the card he drew, then looked back at the field. It was certainly peculiar that Camryn would place a monster in attack position with 400 ATK and no protection. There had to be something more. They may have the advantage, but they can't get careless.
"Alright, I think our show is finally drawing to a close! But not before one last act from our performers! We begin with Wind-Up Juggler! Go ahead and show Cyber Larva what you can do!"Juggler seemed a lot less lively compared to before, which was probably caused by the loss of their golden key. Now it had a more automated response to the attack command, tossing around those five trapped gears in the air as she sprang closer to Larva. When they were practically bouncing in front of it the green toy threw them all up in the air and had them fall onto Larva one by one.
"And by doing so, you've activated Cyber Larva's effect! When it's targeted for an attack, I take no battle damage from that attack." As Wind-Up Juggler's attack connected, Cyber Larva projected a weak golden shield before being destroyed.
"And since it was destroyed by battle, I get to use its second effect to special summon another Larva from my deck! So, of course, I'll do so right now!"True to Camryn's word, a second Larva hit the field almost immediately, this time with a baby version of Cyber Dragon's mechanical roar.
So that's why she summoned it in attack position."No matter, because we have another show lined up and ready to go! Wind-Up Zenmaister! Attack Cyber Larva!"Zenmaister looked back at Nathan and gave him a thumbs up, then picked up a loose rock from the smashing it gave the floor earlier, ignoring all laws of them not being tangible holograms and also ignoring the actual material of the floor. They then tossed said rock right at Larva, who exploded spectacularly upon impact.
"And once again does Cyber Larva activate, rendering your damage null and allowing me to summon a third from my deck."The now-familiar baby mechanical snake appeared on Camryn's field as the second one was destroyed, this time remaining silent.
"Well, it looks like we'll be going on for just a little longer, and I have just the thing to keep us going. And it begins with Summoner Monk's effect! I discard Bubble Barrier in order to Special Summon Superheavy Samurai Magnet from my deck!"A blue robot appeared on the field, with a gigantic red horseshoe magnet coming from its head. At the end of each of its arms was a stub, one with a "+" sign, and the other with a "-" sign. It stood beside Summoner Monk, crackling with electricity.

"And he won't be alone, because I'm summoning a second Magnet from my hand!"Superheavy Samurai Magnet: 900 ATK 1900 DEF Level 4 EARTH Machine
"And here's the kicker. Superheavy Samurai Magnet's effect prevents my opponent from targeting other monsters for attacks. However, since I have two on the field, it means my opponent cannot target any monsters for an attack!"The two identical Magnets raised their arms toward each other, and slid closer and closer before their arms connected, creating some sort of barrier of electricity over Nathaniel and Haas's entire field.
"I end my turn!" Nathaniel cried with a confident smile.
Turn 26: MeganNathaniel & Haas: 5200 LP, 2/3 cards in hand, 5 Monsters, 3 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 2100 LP, 2/1 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 3 S/T
Megan drew her next card with further dissapointment. Not only was the other side of the field totally protected from monster attacks, Megan's new card was useless unless only a single type of monster was in the grave. Normally it worked great but in a tag duel it was suddenly not so much. It looked like they were practically finished. Megan had no way to stall for any more time and Cam was running out of Larva. Well. Just in case they survived somehow for long enough to allow Megan to play something.
"I'll play the spell card, Fairy Of The Spring, to allow me to return my Flamberge to my hand." A wispy fairy appeared and reached into the graveyard, pulling out the sword and returning it to Megan's hand.
"With that I end my turn." Aw, she didn't want to lose again.
Turn 27: HaasNathaniel & Haas: 5200 LP, 2/4 cards in hand, 5 Monsters, 3 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 2100 LP, 2/1 cards in hand, 1 Monster, 3 S/T
"And now it's back to me!" Haas eagerly shared with the rest, drawing the next card by having both his arms meet mid-way in front of them and then pulling them both apart at the same time. The result of the draw wasn't of too much interest, because if Haas understood correctly then him and Nathan had won already.
"I'm sure we're all waiting, so let's jump straight into the action!" the boy said to everyone in the room, then pointed to Cyber Larva.
"The lovely Wind-Up Juggler shall take the stage first!" Haas announced, and Juggler bounced to the middle of the room in response.
"My adorable lady in green shall first destroy Cyber Larva," the boy continued on with the toy responding by throwing their trapped cogs around in the air again. Much like before, one by one, they came crashing down on Cyber Larva who was crushed within mere moments.
"And now that they'refinally out of the way, Wind-Up Zenmaister will finish the duel! Show 'em the door, Zenmaister!" Haas commanded, and the mechanical construction replied in turn by firing both its rocket-powered fists at Megan and Camryn. Upon impact with the floor, dustclouds kicked up. When said clouds dissappeared, though, Megan and Camryn were unharmed.
"...E-Eh?" Haas stammered out in surprise, unsure of what happened.
Camryn waved away some of the dust in her face and looked at Haas with a grin.
"See, the nice thing about Cyber Larva is that it actually works for the entire turn! Neat, huh?"Haas was a little embarrased by Camryn's explanation, rubbing the back of his neck with a sheepish grin.
"Ahaha... Whoops!" they playfully acknowledged. He regained his composure soon enough.
"Anyway, I'll set a card and end my turn then!" the boy shared, finishing the turn with the holographic card back materializing onto the field.
Turn 28: CamrynNathaniel & Haas: 5200 LP, 2/3 cards in hand, 5 Monsters, 4 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 2100 LP, 2/2 cards in hand, 3 S/T
Despite her cheerful showing while Cyber Larva was on the field, Camryn was now starting to feel the pressure. If she didn't draw something good soon, this could be curtains for her and Megan.
"I draw!" She shouted, desperation starting to edge into her voice. As she looked at her draw, she sighed. It wasn't great, but it was something.
"I summon Deepspace Scout, and I'll use its effect to revive Deepspace Stunner in defense position."Another copy of the rickety old ship appeared, bringing with it a Stunner who, in addition to its previously faulty lighting systems, had gained a brand new dent in its front and several spots of bird poo, courtesy of its journey outside of the arena.
Deepspace Scout: 1200 ATK 800 DEF Level 4 LIGHT Machine
Deepspace Stunner: 1200 ATK 900 DEF Level 4 LIGHT Machine
"And that'll be my turn. Go ahead, Nate."Turn 29: NathanielNathaniel & Haas: 5200 LP, 3/3 cards in hand, 5 Monsters, 4 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 2100 LP, 2/1 cards in hand, 2 Monsters, 3 S/T
"My turn! Draw!" Nathaniel shouted as he drew his next card. It did not take a thorough inspection of the field to see that Megan and Camryn were hanging on for dear life. Still, they had managed to set up defenses again and again. Victory seemed to be on the horizon, but how many turns ago had Nathaniel thought the exact same thing? He would have to finish this as quickly as possible, before they run into a stalemate.
"Now, I shall detach Wind-Up Zenmaister's final Overlay Unit in order to activate his ability once more! Wind-Up Juggler shall take a brief intermission." Wind-Up Zenmaister: OL 1 > 0
Wind-Up Zenmaister: 2200 > 1900 ATK
Zenmaister's key started to twist and turn again, with the robot punching both of their fists together. They raised up his left arm, brought it down with its knuckles first and shattered the floor with the impact again. Juggler's buried card flew up, spun around mid-air a few times, then slammed down on top of her. Zenmaister's key flew out of its back soon after.
"Now I'll have Wind-Up Juggler join us once more!"Juggler crawled out from under the ground weakly, having two swirls for eyes. She looked a little dizzy from that sudden slam into the floor. She hardly managed to keep herself bouncing straight.
Wind-Up Juggler: 1700 ATK 1000 DEF Level 4 WIND Psychic
Wind-Up Juggler: 1700 > 900 ATK
"Wind-Up Juggler could only use her effect once while she's face-up on the field, so her last act with Stunner left her a little winded," Nathaniel said with a chuckle.
"However, now that she's had a little break, she's right back in the game! Wind-Up Juggler! Give us an encore! Attack Deepspace Stunner!"Juggler's head turned back to Nathan. She looked
angry as he immediately commanded her to attack again, picking up her cogs and
throwing them at Nathan. All of them. Then Juggler bounced over to Stunner before coming to a halt in front of them. Her glare was like that of an angry wife's, which was accurately reflected by what seems to be her cursing her mouth off at the poor spaceship. It wasn't exactly english, but whatever she said surely had an impact as the spaceship flew out of the room once more. It leaked oil as if crying while it did so. Afterwards, her golden key flew out of the provided hole and their eyes became a lot more dull and lifeless again.
"Ack!" Nathaniel threw his arms up over his head to protect himself from the cog-pelting. When the last of it was over, he looked around and sheepishly adjusted his uniform.
"Ahem. Wind-Up Zenmaister is about to take his turn as well. Take out Deepspace Scout!"Zenmaister wasn't up to his usual antics this time around, simply opting to just float over to grab Stunner. Then it kind of just... Threw it into the wall. Multiple times over. It looked a little brutal for a Wind-Up, actually... Either way, it didn't last for very long and Zenmaister made their way back over to their spot.
Megan & Camryn LP: 2100 -> 1400
"Alright, now I'll switch the Superheavy Samurai Magnet I Normal Summoned to Defense Position, and end my turn."Turn 30: MeganNathaniel & Haas: 5200 LP, 3/3 cards in hand, 5 Monsters, 4 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 1400 LP, 3/1 cards in hand, 3 S/T
"Draw." Megan said with a sense of dread, already anticipaiting another useless card. Camryn had been stalling for them admirably, but- it was useless. Another card that couldn't do anything here. Feeling defeated by her own deck and wishing she wasn't bringing Camyrn down like this she reluctantly continued,
"I'll set one card, then end my turn."Turn 31: HaasNathaniel & Haas: 5200 LP, 3/4 cards in hand, 5 Monsters, 4 S/T
Megan & Camryn: 1400 LP, 2/1 cards in hand, 4 S/T
"My turn, Draw!" Haas responded in turn, catching a glimpse of his card as he swept it horizontally. The boy's eyes widened at the realization. It's just what they needed to finally win!
"And I'll activate the card I just drew!" he eagerly shouted, slamming the Spell Card down into the disk. A sudden gust dominated the field, slowly raising up Megan's Set Card. On Haas' field shone the Spell Mystical Space Typhoon.
Megan let out a small grin at the irony, even if it didn't really matter.
"I'll respond in kind, with my own Mystical Space Typhoon!" The set card whirled around face-up and revealed itself to be the same as Haas's own card.
"And I'll use it to destroy that Supply Squad of yours!" Honestly it felt a little petty at this point, but eh. The winds clashed in the middle of the room, kicking up all kinds of dust. Both tag teams had to hold on to something in order to not get flung across the room, and both Mystical Space Typhoons and the one Supply Squad got torn off the floor and flew around wildly in the room. All three of them slammed into a wall, shattering into tiny yellow pixels.
Haas'd raised up his Duel Disk to shield himself from the winds, and grinned like an idiot.
"After such an immense clash, I can't afford to let down!" He commented, lowering their arms to reveal the aforementioned grin. The boy extended his free arm, pointing to the opposition.
"Alright, let's go! It's time to let the ace of my deck end this! Wind-Up Zenmaister, attack Megan and Camryn directly!" Haas declared his attack, and the robot responded in turn by flying up into the air. It then hovered over to the opposition, coming to a halt when they were right above. Then it detached the thing seemingly keeping it in the air, the pyramid, before revealing even more jets built into the torso. The triangular part came crashing down in between the girls, exploding and ending it with a bright flash.
Megan & Camryn LP: 1400 -> 0
WINNERS: NATHANIEL & HAAS!
