Alex

Alex was shocked into silence. This guy’s claims were simply too far-fetched! A worm that makes players turn into ghostly strings of code upon death? This isn’t a fantasy novel! Still, Erika was there in front of them, in a coma and they had seen her in game... but why would the DGO devs have something like this in the game? Who would be familiar enough with DGO to create a worm that can bypass all the safety measures that are supposed to stop this from happening?! Sure Corpse Collector seemed to be some kind of hacker, but the difference between altering stats and spawning mobs is like Heaven and Earth compared to this!

“H-how is killing Corpse Collector going to help? If what you say is true then all you’re going to do is make the one person that might be able to fix this into a vegetable! How is that going to help? Do you know how to hack the game well enough to try and fix this? Why don’t you just get in contact with a DGO admin or developer?” he was just clutching at straws, Alex knew that. This ghost story did put the fear in him. It took all he had not to open up his messages and send Bel a warning. Then he heard Eris’ warning

“Hey, I’m not going to follow you, but that doesn’t I’m not curious. I mean eggs and one baskets should be avoided right? And that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep an eye out for each other. Plus there is a chance that none of us have got the super coma worm that may not be real, but we can just communicate with the subject lines, right? No opening, no worms? Plus, I don’t know, calling? Voice chat? I’m just trying to be practical...” scratching his head, Alex took a pen from his pocket and grabbed a piece of paper, scribbling his number down.

“Plus if there are no online messages, a hacker can’t read them, right? Y'know, for stuff you don't even trust the internet with?” handing four scraps of paper with his number on it to the rest of the group, Alex sighed and felt his knees weaken.

“Between this, a fake Black King, the lovely Green King seemingly hating me, Corpse Collector just on its own and whatever the hell else there is to go wrong... well this is rather stressful isn’t it?” his throat dry, his knees weak. All in all? Alex really wanted to just lie down and sleep.

Deep Ground Online

Eris sighed, apparently Cassandra still hadn't noticed that this was a real life and death situation, but then again, it wasn't like Eris expected her to. Cassandra had not gone through the experiences Eris had, she didn't had the training or even strength to defend herself. So... why was it so hard to let Eris be the one protecting her? I didn't mattered, anyway, Eris had to concentrate in both keeping Cassandra alive and shutting off whatever plans Corpse Collector had in mind.

"Fine, Cassandra, just mind that if you do something unwise, I might not be able to save you. 'He who is prudent and lies in wait for an enemy who is not, will be victorious.'" Eris first warned Cassandra in a personal way and then said, quoting Sun Tzu's The Art of War, in her characteristic philosophic ways. Taking Alex's words into consideration, Eris replied, "I don't plan to kill her, just protect Moon Rider. Eclipse Princess can deal with the cannon fodder while Moon Rider takes on the Outlaw in a one on one fight, I bet even Corpse Collector's hacks can't allow her to bet Moon Rider in a straight up fight, otherwise... why would a known solo player need to assemble and army of thieves and scum?"

"Either way, I take it that we'll be safe here. I would be on the look out if you left public spaces until this situation has been sorted out. now, if you'll excuse me." Eris closed her eyes as she finished her speech, concentrating on the dated login process, but...

...there was something wrong this time.

Welcome, Eclipse Princess!

You have leveled up to [Lvl 5] and received a special gift from [*** ***]. Have fun!

"Huh? What happened to my other equipment this is way more high tier than my other armor. And... a Lvl UP after a bugged Dungeon, this seems too much like an exploit. But, this sender, could it be?" Eclipse Princess stared at herself amazed at the change she had undergone, this equipment was... too much like something SHE would have used, yet it's obvious that said theory was impossible or at least based on some serious bending of rules. Not that any of this mattered now, little boost was more than welcome as Eclipse Princess could testify merely looking bellow her, to the walls of the Black City and Corpse Collector's army that was only just waiting the sign to charge the Ebony Strikers' citadel.

"It seems our positions were reset to the respective Guild Halls of our Avatars , or so I think. I wonder where Cassandra will be when she logs in? Anyway..." Eclipse gave a couple experimental swings of the massive lance she had received, despite the sheer size and the feeling that it could crush a boulder of Eclipse's size with a single swing, she could brandish it easily with a single handle. "I might as well like this. If it was really you, know that I'm thankful." Eclipse though as she hopped off the wall and walked to Moon Rider's throne room, a smile greater than any ever before gracing her lips at the prospect of a real life or death battle was actually exciting her to untold levels as did her next action.

"Moon Rider, Black King, you should know who I'm at this point, but let me say that I'm here to help, no I'm here to join the Ebony Strikers." Eclipse said as she walked down the walls that she knew so well and knelt before Moon Rider, "The recent circumstances of which I'm sure your representative already informed you, convinced me that it's the most certain thing to do. Furthermore I'm sure you'll need an extra hand in dealing with the scum outside... you can sign me in for that."

Upon listening to CC's plan, Absinthe flew back to the Blue Bomber at full speed... in fact, she was going so fast that she rammed her face against the tank's lid, taking a chip out of her heath bar. "Titania-sama, Titania-sama, Titania-samaaaaaaa!" Absinthe cried out of the top of her lungs.

"We have an emergency, the... the... the Corpse Collector, she kidnapped Kitty Kat and is forcing her to help kill Moon Rider-sama. We need to go help, come now, Titania-sama!" Absinthe yelled in panic, it looked like that Mercury Titania would have to... calm her subordinate before they could go and help the Black Guild, if tha was what the Blue King wished to do, to say the truth.

"perhaps Eris, it is not I who needs saving, but you. Those who think they are invulnerable often find themselves in need of the help from others they think need their protection.

'Easily mistaken, it is not about a love for adversity, it is about knowing a strength and a faith so great that adversity, in all its adverse manifestations, hardly even exists.' I trust, and believe in you, Eris. Do the same for me, and we can get through this, together"

Cassandra spoke calmly, looking to Alex she gave him a smile, "sometimes even the bravest amongst us can fail. And at those times, the weakest among us rise, showing just truly how strong we are. sometimes, all it takes is someone or something to fight for" she looked back to Eris as the other girl logged into the game. "you helped me see that, with your erratic driving, and freedom in the game. Eris cemented it. I can't let her go in there alone, she thinks that caring for me makes her weaker. She hasn't yet learned it makes her stronger."

She made to settle herself, to log in. "sometimes our avatars reflect who we truly are. You're a good person Alex. Start adding some jukebox into your life"

Not at all afraid, Cassandra got herself comfortable, closing her eyes

Welcome, Nies helium!![/b][/centre]

Logging in, Nies immediately fell into a crouch, only to find herself in safety in the green guild base. Frowning, she wondered how she would get to Eris. She knew she'd need transport, so she hurried down to the garage, at once picking a car,

She hurriedly sent a message to Eclipse Princress, asking where she was, even as she figured the black city would be the best place to start. After all, corpse collector and moon rider had appeared when it opened. So she started off, towards the black city.

Hitoru Mitsuki

Listening to all of their questions as Hitoru turned to the bed where his sister lay and sat down, he seemed to really only hear a few, even blatantly ignoring the speeches of most of them--the blonde girl's in particular. As he laid back and let them finish, he had few words to say.

"It's simple," He explained, red eyes shining in the constant white light of the hospital as he stared straight at the ceiling. "The reward for Corpse Collector's head is the same... an insta-level nine. I get that power, I could easily become a king and have more than enough range to find who did this. You're more than welcome to join me or whatever, I don't care." As he finished speaking, the countdown began in his mind and he slowly tilted his head back. Just before the light faded from his eyes, he looked over at his sister and tightly gripped her frail, thin hand in his, his lips pressed firm in a hard line of DETERMINATION.

As soon as Moon Rider had logged into the game, she could immediately sense that something was amiss. No reports from Dark Wraith had come in so there was no need to give her cause for worry. But that did nothing to settle the pit of building dread that rose in her gut; despite DGO being only a game, some emotions were too raw not to feel.

The moment her castle began to shake and shudder, the Black King confirmed her suspicions. Red alerts began to ring all throughout the Kingdom, reports flooding in concerning a massive army of Outlaws, Dissolutions...and her. The Corpse Collector. Or at least a Player brash and stupid enough to mount this entire assault. Who else could it really be.

The forces of the Ebony Strykers were already out in battle, defending the territory of their King. Moon Rider frowned as she walked to a window, overcasting the field of death and destruction below. It was at that moment that a familiar voice caught her attention and she didn't look back to acknowledge Eclipse Princess' presence, instead focusing on the battle down below.

"I can assume that you weren't part of this then. Otherwise, you'd be trying to kill me right now," Moon Rider stated, expression hidden. "Seeing as you've shown up right as an army enters my doorstep, that leads me to believe that you are involved in this somehow Princess. Even so...I suppose I should consider myself lucky to have a potent fighter such as yourself before me," she finished, turning to reveal the shadow of a grin.

"Acceptance granted. Welcome to the Ebony Strykers. Now what do you suppose we do about all this?"

"Hmph!" Eclipse Princess scoffed lightly as Moon Rider insinuated that she might be involved with Corpse Collector's doing, even if she knew it was just a provocation, Eclipse Princess couldn't help but reply, "I know I'm a declared enemy of Outlaws and Sweepers, I would prefer to die rather then joining forces with them. Before you say anything further, I know my words contradict my actions, since the Sweepers are mostly part of the Ebony Strikers now, just bear in mind I'm allied to you, not them."

After her initial reply Eclipse Princess got back to her feet and faced Moon Rider directly for the first time, "Before we discuss any strategy for this battle, I'm forced to ask you something. Why do you believe they make it such big point to kill you when at the most you'll be unable to login for the next 24 hours? If you think about it, it's rather pointless, unless..." Eclipse Princess approached Moon Rider and spoke in a lower voice as to not call the attention of any possible spies, "my information is true. If you die here, your real life self, no matter who she or he is, will most likely become a comatose vegetable and your mind will be stuck on the game, lost along the endless lines of code."

"Before you reply and say I'm mad, mind that I've seen it with my own eyes, Erika Mitsuki, supposedly disappeared on Real Life, but in truth on an isolated hospital in a deep coma, while her digital ghost plagued a secret dungeon I and three other players where in. However, there's more." Eclipse Princess aloowed some time for the info to sink on Moon Rider's brain, before droppin the worse bit, "No matter where you are, probably there are people on your room right now, wait for the computer virus to trigger and then innoculate you with some kind of drug. It happened to me, I'm sure Yoshino Tsugumi informed you of the story I told her, earlier."

Moon Rider was forced to listen to the Princess' wild story. Because what else did she have to do at the moment? Besides protecting her Kingdom of course. But as crazy and unrealistic Princess' tale sounded...Moon Rider couldn't help but shudder at the possibilty of it being true. And frankly, what Princess told her was...unnerving. Even the Black King shuddered to the thought of someone watching her IRL self even now...waiting to pounce at any moment...it was enough to make her blood rush and her heart beat a mile a minute.

"I guess this is about as much information as I have, though I can't imagine why someone would like to effectively kill you on the Real World, unless it has something to do with the Fake Moon RIder from earlier and their connection to the Hooded Specter." Eclipse Princess finoshed her story with a pat on Moon RIder's shoulder, as a faint sign of sympathy and waited for the Black King's reaction.

"Yes...not even a full minute into my Guild and you're already trying to disturb your King," Moon Rider muttered, not shrugging away Princess' hand. "We can deal with that after finishing off the current psychopath trying to kill me."

"That's merely truth that had to be stated and, half of the reason why I'm at your service now, my Liege. I don't intend to allow any harm to reach you, thereby my plans for this battle are rather straightforward. I'll cut a path for you to take down the Corpse Collector, only can do that and I'm sure that she'll never see it coming because of the reward you put on her head, she'll think you are a coward and that's exactly what you planned, not?" Eclipse Princess turned to the same window as Moon Rider and stared on the battlefield, before letting out another quote from the Art of War, "Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt."

"No one can be darker than us, the Ebony Strikers and, as long as I'm here, I'll be the hammer hitting them you the fury of Thor himself. Is that enough for you, my Liege?" Eclipse Princess turned to face the Black King, with an smile that said way too clearly that this is something that she was looking for for way too long, the point was, was Moon Rider doing so as well?

To that, Moon Rider raised an eye. Had she know of Princess' medieval nature, she would have considered her recruitment a long time ago. And yet...she could not dismiss the girl's inner nature for battle. The Black King herself felt the shuddering rush that passed through her form, the calling of a slaughter beckoning her closer. Yes...this was what it meant to be a Colored King.

"Well then. Since you're so eager to impress me Knight, why don't you do so already," Moon Rider replied back with a ghost of a smirk. "You can charge in all you want..." The Black King flicked her wrist, revealing her signature weapon in the form of a lightsaber. With the push of a button, the air hummed as a purple energy blade was emitted, a weapon that had taken many lives in its prime and still did today. Moon Rider walked out of the throne room and down the hallway towards battle, the air of a King about her.

"I prefer to root out my prey."

"As you command." Eclipse Princess replied, before taking her own path out of the throne room and up the ramparts walling the Black City, walking at a leisure pace over than and taking in the battlefield, the sounds, the smell, the chaos... yes, in the end it was all a digital recreation of a fake reality, but with the treat of life and death at stake it turned much more interesting. "Whether it's true or not, I don't care about it. The important things is that I'm here and the battle I've been waitin for my whole life is right before me. Like it or not, army of worthless trash..." Eclipse Princess picked up pace, runing faster and faster to a crane that was set besides a semi finished section of the wall, "Here I COME!" She yelled out of the top of her lungs, launching herself out on the crane and into the battlefield like a bolt of divine retributing.

That for sure was going to be one hell of a battle.

Welcome, Dovev the Unseen.

BGM

As soon as he had begun to appear in game and gain any visual of those around him--having spawned in the middle of the warzone, the bare chested avatar flung his hand down and enacted a smoke bomb, filling the air with a fog thick enough that their comrades became lost within. Soundless, thanks to his avatar feats, Dovev unfolded his arm outward slowly, a crackling blue electrical energy in his palm. Silently, a shockwave went out around the perimeter of the smoke and gave an intense, stunning hit to all around him.

Small fry. He knew what he was after.

He leaned down, his shoulders hunched over and ran through the disoriented crowd, electrical arm outstretched and clearing a path like a charging bull. Though his head was kept down, he was soon faced with the odd assailant preparing to cast a spell on him from afar. At this moment, he lifted his head just enough that his cyber eye was visible. In the mainframe, he had locked onto the mage's positioning and drew his blade, holding it outward. As he ran his sword quickly outstretched, piercing into the weakpoint of the mage's armor from afar. Though the gurling 'HURK!' of the mage was heard, all else of his movements, his lightning... all silent.

Lowering the extended blade, he used the body of the quickly fading outlaw and the length of his sword to pole-vault over the crowd as much as possible, his scarf flying into his face and rage prevalent in his eyes as his digital body soared over the outlaws and into the view of the Black King's Castle. His cyborg eye locked onto one of the digital stain-glass windows and a small list of entries appeared in his eye. Keeping his sword where it was, it was with great force that the sword grew exponentially until it was long enough that he could crash through said window and roll against the stone floor within, his shoulder hitting the wall with a grunt. Dovev stood, lifting his still-sword clasping arm as it quickly slid back into a much smaller size and he put it back into its sheath. The dark, empty corridors seemed to stretch on. He looked down at his feet, which would ordinarily make noise and cause a long, hollow echo to play out, but instead were horribly silent. He made his way down the hall, seemingly becoming one with the shadows as he stepped out of the light in his search for Corpse Collector.

"Shit. Fuck. Fucking shit."

The Hacker in question roamed the halls of the Black King's domain with annoyance. Teleportation was always a bitch to handle and somehow her and Kitten had gotten separated from each other. Fucking wonderful. As she made her way towards the throne room, her eye spotted some weirdo with an eye scanner or something heading the same way.

"Hey dickwad. Know where I can find the Black King around here?"

At the sound of a high pitched, better-than-you voice Dovev stopped in his tracks. Slowly, the tall avatar turned his head with the eye scanner facing Corpse Collector. She had found him, meaning that striking now would be only half as efficient. He parted his lips.

"Yes. I was just on my way there now..."

As he spoke, the scanner attempted to work quickly, trying to pinpoint a weakness. However, the scanner turned up... blank? ...Pity. Or rather, maybe it wasn't. He did afterall like a challenge. Without another word, Dovev dropped another smoke bomb, filling the room with dense fog as he made his way around the Corpse Collector, raised his cyborg arm and attempted to electrocute the small blonde haired avatar.

"Aw, gee, a sneak attack. Whatever will I do about-how about this! Boom motherfucker!"

Corpse Collector would not fall for such cheap tricks, especially when she was guilty of using them herself at all times. With a twirl of her gun, she grinned maliciously and aimed underneath her armpit, shooting right at Dovev. She wasn't stupid; she had gone in with Admin Mode turned on at all time. Snickering, she turned around and began to fire haphazardly into the smoke with Death Penalty, the guns pounding in her hands.

"Get out here fuck face. Show yourself so I can fuck you up. Or waste my time and get fucked up later. I don't know. I really don't fucking care."

The moment guns had started going off, Dovev had moved to the side and hit the ground, army crawling quickly under the layer of smoke until he was able to get into position; once more behind the Corpse Collector as she fired off rounds from her guns. His silent arm outstretched and grabbed hold of her ankle, volts of electricity shooting down his arm.

"Eh? Aw fuuuuuaaaaahkkk!"

Corpse Collector snapped her teeth shut as bolts of electricity seeped through her. Frowning, she made a few mental motions before sending the voltage right back at Dovev via misdirection. Sometimes it was good being a no good dirty hacker...

"Ugh. That's one way to piss me the fuck off," she muttered, aiming at Dovev's back and firing point blank.

Aaron shook his head at the allegations of a worm in the game. Based on what he had been told no less than five minutes ago, this girl had been in a coma for the last week or so. "Guys, I have a hard time believe someone bugged the entire game to make it perma-death. I was killed around thirty hours ago, and I'm quite alive." He then sighed as Alex started handing out his number and Eris logged into DGO. "Whatever..." He sat himself down in a vacant chair and joined the blonde in logging in the old-fashioned way...

Welcome, Nyx. Take caution, you last logged out in an unstable area.

Nyx hit the floor of the Red City sanctuary. Hard. His health bar was reduced all the way down to 3% of his total health from the fall damage, and quickly recovered due to his location. That doesn't change the fact that it hurt like hell rushed up to meet him. The problem was, the others were likely going to spawn in their own Guild halls or sanctuaries, and he was the only Harley out of the four of them. He quickly sent out a message to the others, writing only in the subject line to appease their collective paranoia. All in all, they needed a place to meet.

Eclipse Princess

“Here I COME!”

Eclipse Princess yelled before diving in the air, a smile of self-fulfillment evident in her face as she gripped her weapon in a throwing stance and spun her body to build momentum, before letting the shaft of black metal fly out and crash against the ground, impaling a Lvl 01 Outlaw through the chest and killing him in one hit and stabbing her weapon on the ground. As she finished her descent, Eclipse Princess drove her left foot in the face of another cannon fodder, using his head as a foothold to somersault and land atop the shaft of her weapon, easily keeping her balance in one foot.

Eclipse Princess grinned from her perch as Corpse Collector’s army closed on her. Without a word Eclipse Princess kicked her weapon, causing to spin in the air and caught it with her left hand. “You know who I’m, not? I don’t think there’s one Outlaw that doesn’t”, the Outlaws stopped dead in their tracks as Eclipse Princess held her weapon high overhead, obviously they would know of Eclipse Princess’ fame, or better, infamy, as an Outlaw and Sweeper hunter. “Yes, but you should know that, from now on I’ll be fighting for the Black King, Moon Rider, thereby… none of you will outlive this battlefield.”

Eclipse Princess said, the Outlaws charged, the battle was over before it even began.

* * *

As soon as she was over with that wave of Outlaws, Eclipse Princess got a message from Cassandra, the contents of which made Eclipse Princess sigh yet again and reply as she made her way to Corpse Collector impromptu fortress. “Cassandra O’Shera, the truth is that you are still misunderstanding me. Not for a moment have I thought of myself as invincible, I just know how to take my risks and… I love fighting, I love war, but you can’t follow my path. You are not cut to this life and I appreciate that, you are a good, don't destroy your life by following me. I already took a decisive step, I can’t go back... not after what I've done. I’m on my way to Corpse Collector’s castle, if you want to further our discussion, meet me there.” Then, Eclipse Princess sent her destination to Nyx as well, replying to his query, before following her way to her target’s destination.

Nies pulled the car to a stop as there was a response, reading the message, she sat back, wondering how someone could come into your life, and not know a single thing about you despite how they changed you. She sat for a few moments, pondering her options. She could do what she had always done, and just let it go. Or she could do what she wanted to do, and that was change the world. Right in that moment, she knew she could do it.

After all, if even Eris didn't understand her, or had misjudged her, then no one would truly know what Cassandra was capable off, until she showed them. She drew in a deep breath, and carefully composed a response to Eris.

"There is more then one path to the same destination, Eris, and sometimes those paths cross. Ours has, but perhaps it is that our paths divide once more.

You do not see risks to yourself, but rather those around you. Perhaps that is why you can't see that I am not as pure as you might think. Perhaps that is why you believe I am not cut out for this, but even before I met you, I was planning on undermining this game.

Perhaps I have lost that, in my need to ensure you don't kill yourself. Or becoming coding and a vegetable. You think I will judge you for what was necessary to do, but I knew going into this that you are dangerous, and that didn't stop me.

All my life, I've been overshadowed by my siblings, by others. Moving into a dorm, I thought I finally saw the light that had been deprived me, and then you cast your shadow over me, and I didn't look away, didn't look back to that brief light. Perhaps though, it is my shadow blinding you to me.

I haven't run yet, why do you expect that I will? Have I backed down from anything, yet? What makes you think that I am not cut out for this? Is it perhaps that you have a fear you aren't truly cut out for it?

Its my time to shine, and I am not going to let that go, not because you think I will destroy my life. Perhaps the truth is you are still misunderstanding me, and that I have understood you since the beginning.

I will meet you, still. Because even though you think I am not suited for this, does not mean that I will let you risk yourself alone."

Reading the message, and rather pleased with it, Nies sent it, taking another deep breath, she started the car up again, and continued to drive. While she was alert for trouble, Nies couldn't help but admire her surroundings, and found herself content in what was happening.

She wouldn't be underestimated again.

Arms Slave and Paper Moon

Plus some other scrubs
Vs
Outlaws, Lvl 5 Dissolution, & Lvl 6 Dissolution

Arms Slave led the group out of the city using their War Machines to quickly put the walls behind them. Although fast and useful as cover, the vehiciles Arms Slave choose lacked weaponary to defend themselves, relying on the abilities of their occupants for self-defense. Fortunately, lacking weapons allowed them to carry multiple players and being fairly cheap, thus Arms Slave was able to field five of these APC's, filling each with five-to-six players a peice (There was a total of 30 in all). If they weren't nearly all level 1, they may have actually seemed like a powerful force. But even if Deep Ground claims that levels don't matter in PvP, the same could not be said of PvE. Deep Ground fancies itself as a MOBA, sure, but for newbies starting out they needed to grind countless Dissolution hordes if they wish to get strong enough to fight competively. At least that's the sort of advice Arm Salve gives.

Thus when Paper Moon alerted him of two Mid-level Dissolutions in the distance, Arms Slave had another scout confirm his findings: Two Massive Dissolutions, level 5 and six respectively. Even if they weren't boss level (And it was hard for any of them to get a reading on their specs from this distance), that was a hefty amount of EXP for the newbies. Some of them may even get to level up if they've been working hard. BUt that said... It was almost like the first siege of the Black City, but this time it was way more random. At least the first time everyone had an alert in the form of the beast coming in hot. But these guys just arrived out of nowhere...

"Yup. Looks like the work of CC. If I had to hazard a guess, those heat signatures aren't mobs, but other Outlaws. Hmm... Alright Paper Moon, this is what we'll have to do. No doubt the outlaws are going to find a way into the city, one way or another. I know we got some guys to man the walls, but they can't fight those two giants and the outlaws at the same time. Thus we're going to take out the two big ones while we'll let the Ebon Strykers deal with the Outlaws. The city's defenses aren't like before: this time it should hold even two of these big ass motherfuckers long enough for us to kill them. So pop the epic inspiration battle soundtrack. We ride!"

Turning everyone around, Arms Slave lead his entourage to take on the Dissolutions from the rear. This way their forces, meager as it was, could sandwich the Dissolutions and Outlaws between a combined force of the Ebony Strykers and Arms Slave's Sweepers. Arms Slave of course took point riding in the Bone Yard, his weapons and shields out ready to intercept the enemy. He activated his Aura of Agony, causing him to glow red with an awesome power. Those who thought to take advantage of their clustered formation would be in for a surprise when their AoE's would only be half as effective, and Arms Slave himself looking no worse for wear. That was mostly because he filled his War Machine almost entirely of healers, who even at level 1 could keep him healthy under all but the most overpowered barrages.

"Jet Rhino, take the Yamato and head to that hill. Dig in and give us covering fire! Paper Moon, go with Strawberry Baby in the Hammer and give me an idea of how many outlaws we're dealing with and the abilities on those big-ass monsters. Figure out what their attacks are, strengths, weaknesses, etc. Come back alive or don't come back at all!"

Arms Slave laughed as the War Machines split off to do their tasks, leaving three charging towards the large dissolutions. The Yamato had mostly rogues with a single warrior, Jet Rhino himself, who'd use their long-range weapons to soften up the Dissolutions and Outlaws. Jet Rhino would protect them, but once they dig themselves in they'll be unable to move along with the rest of the group, at least not quickly. Strawberry Baby had a few mages and rogues as well, and their task was Espionage and scouting. Strawberry Baby, a level three mage, specilized in illusions and could stealth as well as a rogue. Once they were within acceptable range she used an ability that made them invisible from the outside, though their War Machine could still be heard rumbling towards the enemy. She'd be able to maintain this illusion for about three minutes, but can't do anything else during that time.

"Roger that!" Paper Moon responded as he climbed onto the edge of the carrier, leaning in lieu of the The Rhino's movememnts. The two APCs veered from the main formation and set themselves a course for their individual designations. The rogue's hair blew uncontrollably in the wind as they courageously pressed on. "Sure beats walking, eh?" He called out over the wind slamming against the APC, glancing over his shoulder back at the players who would be fighting alongside him. For those who were not wearing any form of facewear, their expressions for fairly barren. It wasn't like they were listless, they were only able to express determination. Hopefully Moon's laidback demeanor would be able to mesh with theirs, since teamwork was key.

"You know, I usually walk! Although I may have a skill that cuts down on travel time, these things really know how to cover ground! Hope they were cheap, really wouldn't want to fork over cash to Arms after this." The boy had to put warming up to his comrades on hold, as it was crucial that Stawberry Baby had the utmost concentration while ability. Paper Moon watched as his arms and hands progressively lost their pigmentation against the metal plating, which too soon followed suit. Even though the dissolutions were enormous, they moved at an alarming rate. "Alright, cut the engine," He barked at the driver with an outstretched hand, albeit the fact that it was completely invisible, the driver seemed to pick up the sound of his hand slicing crisply through the air. "We'll coast from here." When the engine cut out, the rogue slipped on his goggles with a childish grin, "Scanning." Moon notified the others in a hushed tone. After he activated the ability Keen Eyes, his irises glowed with an extremely faint blue light.

He extended the upper half of his torse over the APC's sides. It would really suck if they were to fly past a tree right now. The rogue narrowed his eyes as they fell upon the two figures encompassed by all different types of hues. Past them were figures of a distinctly smaller size, now far more discernible at this distance. He shifted his gaze over to the mass of fodder and counted away. "Twenty-five... twenty-six... twenty-sev- Holy shit she really is trying to storm the city." Moon clicked his tongue as the numbers conitnued. There were probably a handful beyond the range of his view, but gist is, they had quite the battle ahead of them. If they were succesful in clearing this stage's first wave of bosses. He swiftly returned his attention back to the two dissolutions and scrutinized the points where internal activity was most noticeable. Keen Eyes was an especially effective ability and making weak points apparent at closer ranges.

His collective opinion of the two mobs could be summarized in one phrase: "Holy shit." Moon murmured as he tried to not only narrow down the weak points, but was unsettled by the grotesque characteristics of the two dissolutions. But seriously. Holy shit. The one in the backdrop accompanied by the outlaws wasn't dearly intimidating, but looks could be deceiving. It probably had abilities related to its element, and since rain always affected large areas, he could only go off of inference that it specialized in AoE. It was in a perfect position as a support unit to the more pressing threat, the glob of disorderly flesh and organs gravitating not far from them. Sure, the organs were screaming critical hit points, but the thing was probably loaded with a bunch of abilities to compensate for losses sustained in combat. The girl at its core was probably the final locus to hit, but he'd rather whittle down its assets before going in for the kill. After a shallow breath slipped out, he quietly ordered the driver, "Get behind this outcrop. We'll send in a report there."

Moon was the first to get out of the vehicle, instantly arcing his legs over its exterior as soon as it came to a complete stop. "Disembark! Get into firing positions and get ready for combat!" Without a moment to lose he typed away and set a report to Arms.

To: Arms Slave, Jet Rhino, Junkyard Dog, Cerulean Knight, Ash Roller, Strawberry baby
From: Paper Moon
Subject: Scout Report

"Squad leaders, dispense the information to your squads. Counted thiry outlaws, en route to the city via horseback and dragon, all of which are currently surrounding one of the dissolutions. Farther dissolution probably has AoE abilities, and since it's essentially a cloud shaped like a human, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that bullets won't do jack to it. Mages, you've got your work cut out for you, but your squads' gunmen will have to cover you. Now here's where things really get ugly. The other one's more tricky, or rather, it's got a helluva lot more tricks up its sleeve. Jet Rhino, I'd advise that you have your squad's marksmen aim for its eyes, while any suppresive fighters go for its brain. Other squads split your firepower between either of these two targets, but remember to also have a few men focus fire on its heart. I haven't really deduced what it does for the dissolution, perhaps extra HP? Maintain your distance, and be ready for anything. Use the terrain to your advantage, but I'm sure you already know all of this~. Strawberry's squad is ready to mobilize. Scout report complete."

"Buwa ha a ha! Thirty eh?! Thought they would be more imposing… Oh well. Maybe there'll be more.” Arms Slave shrugged his shoulders upon receiving Paper Moon’s report. By now everyone could see the two dissolutions. In the real world, monsters like these would send the kids running. But in Deep Ground they were braver than that. They fought monsters everyday. Some were monsters. Without a doubt many were unnerved at the sight of the massive dissolutions. But none would run away. Nope, the players charged onwards, taking on the massive enemies themselves.

Arms Slaves stopped momentary to reorganize his troops to something mor balanced. After all, he couldn't fight well on his own. So Arms Slave took a berserker, two healers, and a control specialist with him, dividing up the healers amongst the other raid leaders. While Paper Moon and Jet Rhino provided range support, Arms Slave would lead the charge straight to the big dissolutions. It may look foolish at first, but being targeted was the plan. Arms Slave was the tank after all. He needed to draw agro.

Jet Rhino waited for Arms Slave’s signal, but had his troopers get ready to line up their shots. The unspoken plan was an Alpha Strike: give it everything they got in one blow. Surely the monsters could handle a sustained barrage, most big types could. But to drop them with one combined attack usually did the trick. Of course while Arms Slave and his crew knew to do this, the defenders on the walls was unaware.

They did their best to repel the outlaws and dissolutions using whatever they had. Many chose to engage the outlaws directly in PvP, doing some damage but ultimately being too few and too weak to stop them. The best they could do was hold the gate, and that may soon be compromised by outlaws who managed to leak over the walls thanks to the flying dragons. If that wasn't bad enough there was also the matter of the siege rollers. Cheap cannons on wheels, hardly tough but carried enough fire power fast enough to be a massive threat even with am relatively few. And because they were because in backed up by far tankier dissolutions, even their fragility was hard to exploit with the monsters ensuring any kill shot got intercepted.

At least the Ebon Strykers had their wall rail cannons, but who knows for how long. As their name implies, these were cannons mounted onto rails that lined the upper walls, allowing them to move around the city walls to provide firIin g support. They qere strong enough to damage most vehiciles, be deadly against regular players, and could function as antiaircraft flak cannons as well. But even direct shots weren't going to be enough against the dissolutions. The cannons were made and brought for PvP. None of the Ebony Strykers thought they'd be dealing with more colossus monsters again.

Worse still was that the rail cannons were getting attacked. If not by the Wheel Cannons the Outlaws had, Then By They'd Cloud Giant Dissolutions, literally raining thunder and lightning onto the cannons and destroying them. Repairs would take precious few minutes the defenders didn't have, and even then they couldn't outpace the rate they're cannons were being destroyed. It got it the point they dream the cannons had to focus more on dodging attacks than actually shooting just to survive, thus allowing the outlaws more time to breach the gates.

And if that wasn't bad enough the dissolution with the eyes and gore spotted Arms Slave and his crew. Shouldn't be that surprising what with its many eyes looking in every direction. A few of those eyes glowed before shooting lasers at Arms Slave and his War machine, causing explosions were the lasers hit. ”Whoa! Evasive actions! We need to get close and keep its eyes on us!” Arms Slave shouted to his troops as they tried to get to the dissolution boss.

While impacts rang off on the battlefield, Moon and Strawberry Baby's squad set itself up along the outcropping, organizing themselves at a range for support combat, but in a formation that would allow them to go on the offensive when needed. Moon hoped that the squads under Arms' direct command could hold out. He quickly set himself down behind some rocky cover and scoped in on the dissolution currently engaging his comrades. "Alright everybody, pick your targets! Call out the eye you plan on hitting, and get ready to take the shot on my mark! Better not miss, or you'll have to walk home!" That last comment was shouted with a tint of humor. Moon was always the one to brighten up a dreary situation. But the players didn't need to look at the glass half full. They knew it was in their full capacity to genuinely fuck up these baddies. Taking in a deep breath, the rogue leaned into the optic of his Harvest Carbine.

"Fire!"

Six trails of light burned through the air and lodged themselves in their dedicated targets in perfect unison. Not one single bullet missed. The squad was smart enough to prioritize the eyes actively firing upon the offensive force, but the dissolution quickly switched off onto more operable eyes. Moon noticed that a few were looking their way, probably about to send a barrage that would surely cut through the rock formation like butter. "C'mon Arms..." He thought to himself, counting down the seconds.

As Paper Moon shot at the giant diooslution, one of the eyes looked at the direction the gun fire was coming from. And then it dodged. it was alarmingly fast for a monster that size. before it was just slowly floating behind, almost lagging, but it was able to dodge out of Paper Moon's first volley and dividied it's attention to start firing lasers at the Sweeper's forces as well. Fortunately the blast dind't hit his forces directly. unfortuantely it did hit the hill, causing a massive cloud to be kicked up and removed visibility for a precious few minutes. Paper Moon and his forces would be shooting blind if they couldn't remove the dust cloud.

Arms Slave wasn't having much luck either. One of the War Machines lead by Cerulean Knight got blasted, each rider confirmed dead. That removed Arms Slave's right flank and would allow the big ass beast to focus more on his other forces. If Paper Moon didn't try to gun the beast down it may have wiped Arms Slave and his attacking force. While angry that Paper Moon or Strawberry Baby (Arms Slave wasn't sure which one was in charge) attacked too soon, this gave Arms Slave the opening he needed. "Alright, jump on and let's do this!"

Taking with him the berzerker and a healer, Arms Slave used his Chain Catch to latch onto the surface of the monster, using his extra arms to hold onto his fellow players. Once they landed Arms Slave let go of the berzker took out two serrated daggers and started stabbing and climbing onto the beast. it was unknown if he was doing any damage but the berzerker was climbing fast, so hopefully he'll be able to avoid any of the Dissolution's point defenses. Arms Slave in the mean time let the healer hang onto his back as he climbed up to the heart of the beast. All eyes were on him, literally: The eyeballs came out of the monster's body and started swinging at him. He wasn't in a good position to fight back and could only bring up his shields to defend himself and the healer, but their assault was vicious enough that he couldn't keep climbing on his own. At least, however, the big monster wasn't shooting it's lasers, giving Ash Roller a chance to get into position, along with the rest of his team.

As he was pinned down Arms Slave sent a message to Paper Moon. On accident however, he ended up sending his message to "All recent receivers", sending it to Abestine Blue as well.

To: Paper Moon, Abestine Blue
From: Arms Slave
Subject: Shoot the eyes so I can climb on top of this thing!

"Anybody got a spare gun!?" Paper Moon called out as dust settled on his goggles' lenses. He had already forseen this turn of events and was read to take the necessary course of action. The squad members were able to catch the faint outlines of each other through the cloud that refused to settle. The faint ignition of light signified that one of them had just spawned in a spare weapon, and was now holding it out in the direction of Moon's voice. He swiftly grabbed on and through coughs, finally found their War Machine.

The cloud began to dissipate after the engine roared to life, exhaust pouring out of the machine's pipes. Moon quickly shifted it into neutral, and ordered available hands to push the vehicle out from behind the outcrop with a collective effort. Once it was in park, they placed the gun on the gas, and piled some rocks onto it for good measure. "Alright everybody, get back into firing positions!" He commanded, counting down a few moments under his breath as his comrades scurried back into cover.

"Provide covering fire for the War Machine! Aim for that bastard's eyes!" The rogue dove to the side as the APC sped off in the dissolution's direction. Hopefully Arms wouldn't peg him for using the product of his well-earned money as a decoy. Rounds flew through the air over the vehicle, escorting it to its demise. As soon as an eye attempted to focus on the War Machine, it was instantly met with a bullet carrying the Sweepers' hopes.

Eclipse Princess

BGM

“Wa- wait! She’s not here, I swear, I’m just a decoy. Don’t kill me, damn it!” A Lvl 02 Outlaw, disguised as the Corpse Collector, gripped firmly by the neck on Eclipse Princess’ right gauntlet covered hand pleaded for his life while Princess crunched his HP slowly with the ever increasing force of her grasp. “Ho~? And why should I let you live when you serve me no purpose?” Eclipse Princess asked with a cold voice, impassive to the Outlaw’s plight as she crushed his neck, hearing the satisfactory sound of digital bones snapping, before the Outlaw’s body faded into a rain of polygons.

“Anyway, if the Corpse Collector isn’t here on the battle field, where could sh-“ Eclipse Princess turned to face the Black City, just as the blaring sounds of cannon fire reached her. “Those weaklings, the real target is right under their noses and they are losing time as if this was mere game?” Eclipse Princess gritted her teeth. “I can’t let Moon Rider die, no matter what. Not to some coward’s tactics such as that one.” Eclipse Princess began to make her way back as fast as she could, in the middle of the way, Eclipse Princess noticed the design of the Lvl 05 dissolution.

“Hmph, such an obvious weak spot, tsc! Why don’t they kill it already and focus on the cloud that’s hampering the defenses?” Eclipse Princess sighed before changing her course, “Well, I’m an Ebony Stryker now, am I not? Defending the gates is part of it.” As Eclipse Princess said so, she was right at the Giant Dissolution’s feet, with a mighty leap she landed on the monster’s back and began run up its back, leaving Arms Slave and his Merry Band behind. “You can thank me later, Sweeper Scum, for now saving the guild comes first.” Princess yelled just as she reached the top of the thing’s “head”, kicked it with all her strength and somersaulted, using one of the floating organs as a foothold to jump even higher and further away.

* * *

“This is the end!” Eclipse Princess shouted as she completed her flip and began to fall, activating her Icarus Attack, right over the Nube Negra. Eclipse Princess used her free hand to launch her Spatial Collapse, imploding the Nube’s outer layer to reveal the octahedron shaped core that flared with an over a million volts charge. “AHHH!” Eclipse Princess yelled as her blade crashed against the diamond-hard core, invoking her Dark Blade’s active effect to boost the damage even further, until… CRACK! The polygonal core crushed under the pressure of Eclipse Princess’ unique ability of breaking things and she finished her attack, plummeting like a black comet to the Black City’s Ramparts.

As Eclipse Princess crashed on the black wall, undamaged thanks to the Icarus Attack’s ability of avoiding the fall damage, she noticed Cassandra’s reply and read it while going back into the Black City’s castle, but didn’t replied. Long range conversations were futile, after all. Cassandra was allowed her own choices, but she would have to tell them looking on Eris’ eyes, only them it would have any value. Before jumping from the wall, Eclipse Princess shot a… very unique smirk to the Sweepers manning the cannons.

“Hmph, remember this, scum. There’s but one truth on this world... no, on both worlds, and its name is power.” Eclipse Princess deadpanned before walking away, toward the supposed location of Corpse Collector, as she recalled yet another excerpt of the Art of War. ”’In a conflict the direct actions generally lead to a battle and the secret ones, to victory.’ That rat, she almost tricked me…”

"Yaaah!" Smitten Kitten fell out of thin air and onto the floor. They say cats always land on their feet, but Smitten Kitten hasn't quite worked out her landing. While she managed to slow her fall by grabbing the wall, thus not taking any damage, she still had a pretty messy landing. She looked around was didn't know where she was at. In the Black City for certain and in a building, but aside from that it was hard to tell. No windows she saw and everything was black. There was some lights on the wall so it was pitch dark, but that didn't really help her figure out where she was. Corpse Collector was nowhere to be found either, and she didn't hear any fighting nearby. Smitten Kitten was lost. "Nya... Gotta find out where they are."

Smitten Kitten ran down the hall quietly, with only barely audible footsteps. There weren't many places to hide though, so if anyone came by Smitten Kitten was a sitting duck. All the more reason she needed to get out of here quickly. Unfortunately the next room she arrived in was even bigger with less places to hide. It looked like some sort of grand hall. A quick look and Smitten Kitten saw a throne. It was only then she realized where she was. "Oh nyo... This... Is the throne room..." Smitten Kitten had somehow arrived to the Ebony Stryker Throne room. This was where the king would be. But surely Moon Rider wasn't here; her city was under attack. She must be leading the defenses, fighting against Corpse Collector. Smitten Kitten certainly didn't see her here, so she quickly dashed through the throne room and tried to find another way out.

Taking a hall not too far away from the one she left, she heard sounds of fighting near the end of the hall and thought maybe she found an exit. It was a good sign if they were fighting this close to the throne room; that must mean the outlaws managed to break to the heart of the city. But Smitten Kitten was a cat of ill-omen. When she finally arrived to the sound of fighting, she saw no Outlaws fighting against other Ebony Strikers or even Sweepers. She saw Moon Rider instead. "Oh nyo..." She said quietly.

As it became clear Eris wasn't going to reply, Cassandra expected no less. it seemed like every time something important was discussed, she only too words spoken, rather then written. She'd just have to come to terms with the fact that Cassandra meant every word. Keeping an eye out for bandits or outlaws, as well as creatures, Nies continued to drive. The idea that dying in the game would result in a comatose state in the real world wasn't as horrifying in the game, as it had been in that sick room, with Erika. Nies knew that over confidence could be a problem, but she found she didn't care.

Stopping the car a little way away, Nies brought out her secondary staff, weaker then her original one, but it was better then nothing until she could get a replacement. Tying, and tucking her hair into her shirt, Nies stood up straight, looking about her, the dagger that was her only physical weapon tucked into her belt. She walked with purpose, glancing back at the car, she wondered if that was another one gone, and if the Green King would prevent her from taking another one.

Not that it mattered. At the end of this, Nies suspected she wouldn't be apart of the green guild, or perhaps any guild for that matter. She would help those she wanted to help, and wondered briefly what exactly had changed. When she had first entered Deep ground, she had figured she'd just be apart of a guild, do things for that guild. And now...now, she was seeking her own goals. Perhaps that was the truth of the game. To learn your true values, and to see if you had the strength to do what you sought. Perhaps the position you sought in the real world was based on how much you wanted it. Slacking off in the game could indicate just what you would do in the real world, but emphasizing the game over grades was a mistake, and the game having an immense aspect on the real life was wrong.

And it seemed to have lost its true purpose, the kings making it a game of power rather than skill. Perhaps they all needed to be taken down. Walking towards the black castle, Nies pondered that. Something needed to change in the game, that was for sure. She looked up at the castle with amusement. How many days had she been trying to make her way there, each time distracted by something else? Meeting Jukebox, coming to the city after being hunted by bandits, only to be thrown into a battle with a dissolution. It all seemed like a long winding journey, and yet she was finally here. She stayed back, hiding in the shadows, and watched the castle.

She reflected how she was going into a dangerous situation, where she wouldn't be able to fight truly, except to stab with her dagger, but found she wasn't scared. What would be would be. There seemed to be a lot of commotion, and she was sure Eris, Eclipse Princess, was at the center of it. Or the cause of it. Tilting her head, Nies considered, pondering whether to get closer, or wait. Would the goal be Corpse collector, or merely destruction? Both seemed likely, of Eris.

Knowing her though, the goal would be Corpse collector. Why cut off the limb when you could go for the head? She decided to wait for Nyx to appear, rather then go in alone.

Crimson Outlaw Kisa

The sounds of destruction and battle echoed out below the skyline of the Black City, a war that she welcomed oh so much as the sheer thrill of it brought her endless excitement. She cared not for the reasons why, after all whoever took down the corpse collector gained a reward of immense importance and that was reason enough to take it! Still she had a job to do and she always did keep her word, no matter what her own desires were, hence why she was the most trusted outlaws on the system. Of course that did not mean much to many with 'outlaw' in her name she would be just as much a target as any other, so she had taken a safe place to watch the battle from.

Seeming fading into existence she hopped up onto a lip of a building, getting a good view of the battle below, her crimson eyes tracing the many people fighting. "Hmmm... Not a bad turn out at all. Still, I have to wonder if they are even good enough to get near the collector let alone fight them.." With that she brought a hand to the device resting on the sides of her head, causing a teal visor to crawl in front of her eyes, bringing up her social menu.

"Dark Wraith. I am sending overview images of the battlefield. I am going to wait on your instructions but.." It was then she witnessed the entire scene, the sheer destruction and she couldn't help but take a deep breath as it seemed they pretty much had this handled. "You may have already seen what happened but I was going to ask; would you like me to reach the Collector? Unless there is another speed I could get there without problem, I may even be able to take her out..." A devilish grin crossed her slips, sure she knew it was risky but the opportunity was right there, waiting even if it meant falling which would likely happen. She may have been confident in her ability but she was far from arrogant to say the least, and she knew that from the stories this person was very dangerous. "If not then I am waiting for my next objective. You are not just going to have one of the only outlaws on your side, a potential spy, go to waste right? Heh"

Battle Field

@Lucius Cypher@Kol@Jedly
As Syshia wandered further in the direction of the disarray, the tree line thinned and she laid eyes upon an entire kingdom in destruction. There were cannons, tanks, walls, magic spells and lots and lots of metal on metal clanging. As she was standing on a cliff overlooking the kingdom, her vision was unlimited and she could see for miles in any direction. Being a new player, she had not yet been involved in a fight. Her curiosity of course got the best of her and she found herself rushing down the steep Cliffside towards the battle.

I really hope I can be of SOME help to my kingdom. This is where I belong after all. . . If I can just get to that wall over there, I can help them defend. she thought as she ran past a group of frightened citizens. She skidded to a halt in her tracks as she passed them. Maybe these people could be of some help. As long as they don't freak out and run away. . She turned back and approached them in the least threatening way she knew how and leaned down to the older woman sitting in the dirt to ask her a question about the chaos surrounding them. "Can you tell me what's going on here? I want to help but I don't know exactly how. I'm a brand new player and I PROMISE I won't hurt you. My stats are so low, I couldn't hurt you even if I tried." she tried to put some sort of chuckle in with the last part and a slight smile to make herself sound even less threatening.

The woman drew a very labored breath and responded in a rather raspy voice, "The Black Kingdom is being attacked. The warriors and mages are trying their best to defend it but the monsters and Outlaws are putting up a hell of a fight." Syshia took the woman's hand and thanked her before taking off running again towards the tremendous noise. As she finally came to the clearing where most of the fighting was going on, she realized she needed to hide herself somehow. Remembering her camouflage skill, her anxiety lessened as she made her way towards the wall on the other side of the field. Someone would notice her eventually. Some of these people's detection skills were pretty high so she quickened her pace. Not paying attention, an arrow from someone's bow grazed the back of her neck. Wincing in pain, she hurried along trying not to bump into anyone, or the end of their sword for that matter. Fighting her way through the crowd of people who were ALSO fighting, she saw the monsters the woman had been talking about. Wow I hope I don't have to fight those. Someone else should TOTALLY take care of THAT problem . . .

Just as she thought, she then noticed a team of players fighting a monster that looked pretty damn indestructible. Seeing an opportunity, she ran up to the player that seemed to be leading the battle and asked if there was anything she could do to help. She wanted to help somehow. . .

Moon Rider

The gentle hum of an energy blade was only dissuaded by the cries and calls of its fallen victims. Moon Rider narrowed her eyes as she cut down yet another interloper, watching as their coding dispersed before fading away. Yet another defeated enemy who once had thoughts of taking on the Black King head on. Moon Rider had to give her enemy some credit; at least the Corpse Collector was smart enough to send others into the castle with her.

She wouldn’t know it, but the Hacker had begun spawning random Outlaws into the castle with the hopes of flushing her target out. Though just like the case with Smitten Kitten, the Outlaws landed in sporadic locations and none were any closer to their goal than the others. Not that Corpse Collector minded too much since the idea of putting them in a less desirable position made her chuckle with glee.

But what went on in the head of her deranged enemy wasn’t Moon Rider’s problem. At least not at the moment. Right now the Black King was focused on moving slowly, ever slowly. Each deliberate movement drew out a confident opponent, only to be struck dead at how fast the Black King moved. The shadow of a smirk was seen on Moon Rider’s face, the light of battle shining in her eyes. Yes…it had been some time since she could indulge herself like this.

Those who dared to take her on were cut down. Those who were smart tried to hide or flee. It didn’t matter either way for Moon Rider always found her prey in due time. Thus, she had to restrain herself as her eye caught a Player most unfortunate. The Black King had stabbed another Outlaw through his heart and by the time Smitten Kitten could even focus, a handgun was aimed at her head.

“You’re the one I was pursuing a while ago. Hard to imagine someone with a cute Avatar like that working for scum like this,” Moon Rider said evenly, eyes reflecting the thin membrane that held her back from killing the other Player. “You’re not attacking so you must be smart enough to know who I am….and a Level 1 at that? Either you’re really bold or you must want that death wish.”

Farther away from that confrontation, outside where the battle raged actually, there was one Player who had went unaccounted for in this chaos and mayhem. Having placed on a cloaking device, the Avatar known only as Stark Zealot kept a close eye on the siege from a distance away. As a spy for the White King, it was only natural he be hidden in plain sight, his visor focusing in on Eclipse Princess in particular.

Even further away in the Red Guild, the Red King himself suddenly appeared by Nyx’s side. Seems he was much quieter when he wanted to be despite his battle-readied nature. With that ever constant frown on his face, Crimson Streak glanced over at Nyx.

“Now that I really care at the moment, but I hear the Ebony Strykers are being attacked. And seeing as you haven’t made any reports in a while, I can’t help but think you have something to do with this,” the King said, letting a moment to pass for Nyx to answer before shrugging. “But it’s like I just said; not my problem. But I do think you should check it out.”

Streak turned away, hands placed in the pockets of his coat. Thoughts flitted through his mind, especially those involved a certain comatose girl…but that would have to wait for the moment. Whatever was happening at the Black City, it would definitely affect them all. He could feel it…

“Consider it a spying mission for the Harleys,” he called out to Nyx before leaping away out of sight.

Possible leads? Just how long was she out of the situation for? "Note to self, proxy in whenever I'm on vacation, even if I'm in a different country.". Still mulling over her thoughts, a silent chime notified her of a new message. Opening her mail, she quickly scanned through it's contents, sparse as they were.

Quickly sending a simple response in kind, Levi pondered for a moment. For even her subordinate to be sending such a short and simple message, most likely meant that this was rather urgent in nature. "Well, guess I'm late to the show...". While normally she would rather take go at her own pace, it seemed that the current event would past by her, less she pull out all the stops and hurried along. Quickly opening up her menu, she glanced around, before choosing to track after Paper Moon. Once she obtained a lock on his position, she would quickly chase after it. Hopefully where ever that boy went, that would be where the lead would be.

"Weapons hot, rounds checked, armory prepped." Going through her inventory quickly, and making sure her weapons were all loaded and viable, she finally decided to keep out a marksman rifle. While the range on it was not as far as an actual sniper rifle, it was capable of dealing with moderate to close ranges more effectively.

“We need to salvage what we can from Cerulean Knight’s crash. Was anybody able to identify that player, she’s definitely under the Black King’s command… Regroup and reassess our options for taking out that other dissolution. Be advised that it’s still being escorted by multiple outlaws, so prep yourselves for PvP. They can probably overwhelm us with brute force, but as long as we can go about this strategically, we can turn the tables on those boneheads. Let’s take that KS as a freebie and be glad we didn’t lose any more of our forces, yeah? I repeat, all squads, get prepped for further combat.”
After sending the message, his eyes glazed over another one he instantly received. A sign of life from his boss at least eased his subtle angst a bit.

The crackles of lightning echoed in the distance. Moon, for once, wasn’t in his chipper mood. He was hoping that the players involved in this would receive substantial EXP for their efforts, but only ended up receiving partial rewards due to that out of the blue kill steal. He turned himself around to face the other five- scratch that, six players surrounding hi-. Wait a second. Six? He was so engrossed in the message that he didn’t notice that a player, yet another newbie at that, had sneaked up behind them and offered both hands in assistance. Instinctively his five teammates leaped back and focused their rifles on the girl. He honestly couldn’t blame them for their rash reaction, considering the fact that a player had just combo-hit their opponent in one go. Anybody would be on their guard after seeing that. ”Rifles down everybody.” He ordered calmly with an outstretched hand. It was as if he controlled their guns as he lowered the appendage to his side.

Moon pushed his goggles up to his forehead and scrutinized the new arrival. How did she get here? They were essentially in the middle of deadlands. Did a developer just plop her down here as another soul to join the fight? She wasn't too tall of stature, although her character model was given some extra height due to her crimson hair. He continued to analyze the girl in a taciturn manner, until an amiable smile came into fruition. It soon became evident that she was a mage, something they desperately needed more of. Not wanting to miss on this grace, he quickly delved into a conversation. ”Alright, fine, we’re game. Name’s Paper Moon.” He politely introduced himself as he brought around his thumb and pointed it at himself. ”Call me Moon for short. Or Paper. PM, maybe? Whatever floats your beached boat, since there's no water as far as the eye can see. The girl over there who looks like she’s ready to shove her staff down somebody’s throat is Strawberry Baby.” Moon nodded his head slightly towards the mage adjacent to him, ”Don’t worry, looks are just for show~! She doesn’t bite… I think. Stick close to us. Rest of the people in this squad are in the same state of affairs as you, as in they’re all still learning. Contribute to this, and you’re guaranteed a hefty amount of EXP.”

Leviathan was probably en route as he spoke, and drew closer with every word. ”Hey, Drauni, Sky Knight, you two mind grabbing our ride? Looks like the gun fell off the gas.” The two players nodded and cautiously moved out from behind the outcrop to retrieve the APC, their lids pried open in case of any further unforeseen events. Moon covered his eyes with his hand and focused on the remaining dissolution, narrowing them against the sun. It was still in the process of carrying out its assault on the city, and chances are, it wouldn’t take action against them until a notable amount of its escorts were dispatched.

”Our squad alongside Jet Rhino’s will take care of the escorts and cover Strawberry Baby, as she is our strongest mage. While on that subject, our squad has managed to… find an additional mage, so yeah! Other squads prioritize keeping your mages out of harm’s way. Arms Slave, gather your bearings, we’ll take vanguard until you’re ready.”

Drauni and Sky Knight had a small conversation between themselves as they both leaped into the vehicle. Moon turned around to face his comrades, a blatantly obvious thrill burning vibrantly in his eyes. ”Everybody, pack your bags! We’re going on a road trip!” Moon shouted ecstatically, with both hands raised high as he jumped up into the air.

(If Alina is fine with tagging along)

”WHAT THE FUC-” Were the last valiant words of an Outlaw as he and his mount were abruptly flattened by a War Machine. The rogue winced at the bumps hitting the belly of the APC. ”Oof, sounded like that hurt. Alright, everybody out!” They decided to leave their mid-range combatants, Drauni and Sky Knight, on a dune overlooking their current position. Already the Outlaws has noticed a break in their surprisingly coordinated assault, albeit the fact that they were brutes, and were soon rerouting a handful of their numbers to deal with the new hindrance in their scheme. Bullets already peppered the transport as the five players filed out and took cover behind its armor.

”They’re a few foundations up the ways we can use as cover. We’ll push up on my mark. Jet Rhino’s squad should be here momentarily.”

Paper Moon quickly loaded in a new magazine and with the dry one still in hand, leaned over the vehicle’s side and tossed it at a rushing assailant. With the utmost accuracy, the mag hit the player smack dab in the nose. Completely stunned by this unaccounted attack, he was unknowingly on a one way ticket to the death screen via his mount. The horse sped past the APC with its rider still in a disgruntled state. The whole squad tore that sorry sap a new one. His body fell into the sand with an anticlimactic plop, he died just as pitifully as he fought.

”Okay, let’s move it!” Moon shouted as he activated FAIRY BLUE and emerged from behind the APC.

Dovev the Unseen

@TheWindel

He felt the electricity pulse back into his arm, to which he narrowed his eyes at the painless return transaction. Looking up and seeing the gun in his face, the rogue fled back, narrowly missing the shot that would have gone in his back. As he jumped back he rested his palm against the floor, his silent feet skidding backwards. All of which were completely silent thanks to his feats. The smoke had finally cleared, giving each other a good look at what the other had to offer. His eyebrows creased as he straightened up, jutting his chin outward.

"You don't get it do you?"

His face was a sneer of contempt, his hand tightening on the hilt of his katana.

"While you were in here, playing games and hacking your way out of every situation you forgot who you affected in reality. Did you ever even care?"

He leapt forward, moving to slash the blonde's throat. As he got close, he muttered loud enough for her to hear.

"I doubt it.

Alex

Watching the rest of the group login one by one... with no fear no hesitation even after the warnings, Alex was frankly astounded. After thinking about it for some more, Alex sighed and looked at the others lying there, thinking nothing would get done by him standing around twiddling his thumbs.

Moving to a more private corner of the room Alex lied down and logged in...

Welcome Back Unrelenting Jukebox, Congratulations~!

Congratulations? The odd addition of the welcome screen stewed in Jukebox's head as he spawned in the Green Guild base, presumably due to the glitched forced log out resetting his spawn point. Next thing he knew a little alert popped up notifying him that he levelled up. Sweet, that Dungeon Dive didn't amount to nothing. Checking the level Jukebox had to rub his eyes even though it did literally nothing, he was in DGO, it’s pretty realistic, but rubbing your eyes doesn’t do much for the HUD.

Level 5... that’s a glitch right? Is talking to a ghost of a classmate stuck in a game and wigging out a dungeon to basically turn on no-clip mode and have objects slide through your body worth that much EXP? Was it Level 5 that gave you the next Avatar ability?

Well whatever, he had places to be and monsters to shoot... and try and stop someone from being shot... goddamnit what is he trying to save a villain like her? Running to the garage, Jukebox borrowed the fastest looking car in the garage and with a roar of the engine her tore through the streets, on his way to Black City Soundtrack of Life seeming to know more than he did

Black City

Riding along music tearing it up, Jukebox stuck he head out the window as more and more Dissolutions plastered themselves to the windscreen. Barrelling though the city the green car was almost completely black now. Crashing through a few walls Jukebox had no idea where he was but his car was comically half sticking out of the second floor of some building. Dropping out of the window, Jukebox landed nearby two players, standing up and dusting himself off he looked around and saw... Dovev and Corpse Collector.

“Weeeellll shit. This is awkward isn’t it? See, he wants you dead Lady CC, but I’d like to know if you have anything to do with or can do anything about the apparent coma bug. I was hoping to run into you before him, but no plan ever comes together right?”

"Soundtrack of Life with impeccable timing as always. Gotta love joke powers, am I right?

Syshia Amachi: Joining the Party

In a state of awe after Paper Moon's insanely accurate throw that completely disabled the rider of the horse, she felt a rush flow through her. After the rest of the team killed off the horse rider, Paper Moon yelled for them to advance and she charged after the team, her overcoat flowed behind her letting the wind caress her legs. Her bag which was strapped to her shoulder smacked against her sides with every step. However, her adrenaline and hunger to use her powers was so high, she hardly even noticed.

She wanted to help defend her Kingdom in any way she could and since she was a mage, using her powers seemed to be the most effective way. Her dark magic would come in handy somewhere she was sure. Maybe she could drain the monster's energy and use it for her own, or project it to one of her teammates. She could also take elements of the earth around her and use them to her defense or to protect her team. But hurling a giant chunk of rock at a monster's face wouldn't hurt much either. Her camouflage skills may also let her hide herself and use her magic unnoticed.

She smiled as she ran, wondering what her team would have her do. Her magic would come to her whenever she called it.

”What!?”

Out of nowhere some player came by and killed the dissolution he was fighting. Barely a minute in and it was already dead, it’s body parts falling to the ground. He didn’t see where his berserker went and may be dead from the great fall, so Arms Slave took his wizard and landed somewhere safe. He used his Chain Catch to soften his landing, taking cover before the outlaws noticed the destruction of one of their power houses. While it helped the morale of the defenders, they largely blew off the statement of the girl. Didn’t really matter to them what she thought of them or herself, the ones on the walls weren’t Sweepers anyways. They were just glad to have one less thing shooting lasers at them.

The Outlaws however seemed unbothered by the destruction of their second giant dissolution. Doesn’t help that they were almost through the Black City gates. The storm giant dissolution was giving the cannons hell, not to mention making it nearly impossible to pvp the Outlaws without constantly taking lightning AoE. So now their next priority was to take out the second dissolution. With any luck that would give the defenders time to mount a defense to stop the outlaws from breaching this wall.

To: Paper Moon, Jet Rhino, Junkyard Dog, Ash Roller, Strawberry Baby, Cerulean knight
From: Arms Slave
Subject Re: Dafuq

Roger doger.

Paper Moon and Jet rhino I’ll leave it to you to handle PvP. Give our boyz some breathing room.

The rest of us will take out the storm giant. Junk Dog and Ash Roller on me.

Ceru Knight when you respawn bring your boyz to the wall.

P.s. Paper Moon send the new kid to me. We’ll do an interview and see what use I have for him/her.

Arms Slave sent out his message as he carried his wizard with him to the wall. While he wasn’t afraid of getting swarmed, he needed to get the undivided attention of the Storm Giant. Using his last Chain Catch before it went into cooldown to scale to the top of the wall, he dropped off the wizard to somewhere safe and ran towards the giant. At the same time the wizard was charging up a spell, waiting to coordinate his attack just at the right moment.

And that moment was when Jet Rhino and his crew came to Paper Moon’s aid, guns blazing. The payload they were holding onto for the big dissolution was instead spent on the Outlaws, wiping out a good third of their forces and severely damaging the rest. This attack didn’t go unnoticed by the Storm Giant, but before he could strike a large ball of fire was shot at his face. The explosion was large enough to engulf his body, and while he was not dead, he turned his attention to the wizard and blasted his with a storm of lightning. Except the bolts were redirected to none other than Arms Slave, who used his Aura of Agony to ensure that the giant could target no one but himself. Even though the attack was a powerful AoE, Arms Slave was far away enough that the wizard was left unharmed, and Arms Slave was tanking the lightning bolts unerringly. And until Arms Slave was dead, which wasn’t any time soon considering that he was still near 90% health even after the attack, the Storm Giant couldn’t fight anyone but him.

The situation was quickly going worse for the outlaws, but they weren’t going to run yet. The Wheel Cannons continued to beat on the walls, and a few more rounds and they would breach the gate. Thus the outlaws, after their only surviving healer patched them up, went to engage Paper Moon and the others in straight PvP. If they could defend the cannons long enough they could breach the walls and storm the city. Junkyard Dog and Ash Roller took their forces to help whittle down the Storm Giant, though they each only had one mage whom could actually harm the creature through magic. The others thus went to either deal with the Outlaws or tried to help Arms Slave not die. Cerulean Knight was, unfortunately, still in the Black City Spawn and would take some time to reach the wall on foot.

”There’s no need for you to find the Corpse Collector. Find the Black King and bring her to me.”

Darkwraith sent a quick message to Kisa as she watched Corpse Collector and Doven fought. Despite Corpse Collector being the hottest topic recently, Dark Wraith was more interested in Doven. A cursory look into his true identity and a new string of theories were made. Darkwraith quickly learned that Doven is the brother of Azga the Amazing aka Erika Mitsuki. Her family had a history of skilled Deep Ground players and she was just a runner up. As far as her school life went she was rather normal… Up until she stopped showing up. All of a sudden she simply stopped coming to school. Plenty of students turn to into shut ins for social or practical reasons. Indeed, many of the more hardcore Deep Ground players forgo Purple Crown entirely just to play Deep Ground and raise their ranks. Social suicide, perhaps, but the most practical thing since Deep Ground judged one’s entire life. Dark Wraith was surprised there weren’t more people doing that.

That being said, even Azga the Amazing hasn’t logged in in quite some time. Not just popping in and checking her mail: more than a few days ago Azga simply stopped showing up. Her name did appear on the Sweeper’s hitlist, but she wasn’t marked for Cleaners. Her character was being targeted for… Unknown reasons. This made Dark Wraith sighed. One problem with allowing her Erasers free reign: no oversight for the hits. At least those marked for Cleaners have to go through all of the Erasers, herself included, but anyone could be targeted by the Sweepers for little to no reason. Part of their infamy.

But now things were starting to come together. Normally Darkwraith wouldn’t care for why a person would chose to abandon school and Deep Ground. But it couldn’t be a coincidence that Corpse Collector, a notorious outlaw and likely a hacker, was now being attacked by Doven, brother of Erika who has been MIA. If she had to hazard a guess Darkwraith would assume that Corpse Collector had something to do with Erika’s disappearance, but… How? Darkwraith could imagine someone with Corpse Collector’s personality to bully someone in both Deep Ground and real life to the point they may become a shut in. But then again, that would conflict with Erika’s sterling record. While she may not be particularly notable at school, she had perfect grades and came from a long line of successful Deep Ground players. Her family would surely not allow her to be quiet about something like this… Which is a surprise that Dark Wraith only learned now that Erika was in the hospital.

Now Darkwraith was rather concerned. Immediately Darkwraith wondered if operated an organization much like the Sweepers. In fact, Dark Wraith wondered if perhaps Corpse Collector once was a Sweeper. But no, she was quite familiar with the Sweeper’s ranks, and none ever bared the name of Corpse Collector before. Not that it was impossible for a player to change their name, but even so she has never lost a Cleaner she hasn’t kept close tabs on, and she still has all the Erasers in her ranks since the Sweepers first organized. No, Corpse Collector was outside of her organization, which only made Darkwraith more worried as it would mean that there was someone with powers equal to her own. Yet the report on Erika didn’t show any signs of physical trauma. So she wasn’t attacked. But Darkwraith didn’t know what caused Erika to be hospitalized, only that in some way, corpse Collector has something to do with it.

And Dark Wraith intended to find out how.

From her location she’d first make sure that Corpse Collector couldn’t pull any more of her tricks. Darkwraith wasn’t going to fight directly, and from her location she couldn’t anyways, but she would run interference with Corpse Collector’s teleportation. This way she can’t just warp out of trouble, though there’s nothing Darkwraith could to do stop Corpse Collector from simply running away on foot. But not only did Darkwraith remove Corpse Collector’s teleportation, she also ensured Corpse Collector couldn’t teleport other outlaws or dissolutions. Two notable abilities Darkwraith noticed CC doing often, so she made sure to remove them. Next she removed Corpse Collector’s camouflage. Now her name ought to properly be seen by anyone watching. Removing Corpse Collector would likely also crumble this outlaw siege, though she wasn’t too worried about that. They were too few in number to truly take over the city. At worse they destroy some important structures like siege weapons. But those could be easily replaced.
