"Don't you come near me!" Ada yelled as Kai came closer and closer to her. Kai continued forward, not uttering a word. He realised how intimidating he must look but right now he was past caring. For the first time that she could ever remember she didn't want to be anywhere near him. She tried to hobble back and smack at him with open hands but nearly toppled over. A screeched yelp came out of her mouth as he lifted her effortlessly into the air. Her fists balled up as she began to beat his back, her legs flailing wildly as she kicked. Kai gripped his arm around her waist and the other across the back of her knees to stop her from kicking him too hard in the stomach. He didn't want to lose all wind and then suddenly drop her. He grunted at each of the hits but he took the beatings on his back from her fists, they were ten years over due and he knew that he deserved them. He wouldn't complain or fight back.

"Put me down you Neanderthal!" Her voice was full of rage, all the pain and hurt that had been festering since that night had finally bubbled to the surface. She was furious and it showed in every scream, punch, and kick. For years she had wished he had shown back up just to sweep her off her feet but right then she only wanted to spit in his face. Shifting her body weight over his shoulder, Kai walked away from the Gym Hall and carried Ada towards the parking lot. He really did seem like a Neanderthal right now but she had to see something so that she'd at least trust him to look out for her just now in this moment. Put! Me! Down!"

He reached his truck in the parking lot and, as gently as she would allow, he placed her on the ground against his truck behind the driver side door. Ada leaned back against the truck and took a final swing at him as he put her down, slapping the side of his neck. She had been wanting to get him right across the face but she had nearly forgotten how he towered over her. "What the hell is wrong with you lugging me around like I am some cave woman?!"she demanded to know as she tried to catch her breath.

"I'm sorry for that, but you wouldn't have came here if I had asked." He rubbed the spot of his neck that she had slapped.

"No I wouldn't have and I am not sticking around to find out!" she growled as she tried to get around him but it was useless. Compared to Ada, Kai was a mountain; grumbling she crossed her arms over her chest and gave up; for now. He opened the door of his truck and climbed inside. Happy that Ada couldn't see where he was looking inside his car, Kai rummaged around inside for a couple of minutes before climbing out again with a single envelope in his hand. It was a little yellowed and looked as if it had been thumbed more than a few times.

He held the envelope out to Ada, face up so that she could see her name and her parents' address written on the front in his messy handwriting that she would be all too familiar with. It was how he wrote in high school. Kai said nothing as he held it there, his face staring at hers, waiting and watching for any hint of reaction. His breathing was shallow and his face actually looked completely broken. He couldn't pretend anymore. This was it. Ada looked down at the envelope and turned her head away from him, her fingers drumming against her arms as she stood there. "What? I don't want that," she lied coldly. She wanted to know what it was but she was beyond angry right then and was determined not to just mindlessly go along with what he wanted; last time she had given into to what he wanted had been one of the most painful moments of her life.

His face fell even further when he heard her words. He didn't think it was even possible to feel any worse than he already did. He was clearly wrong. He hesitantly took the envelope away, holding it tightly as he let his hands fall to his side. "You wouldn't be this angry if you didn't still want or need answers. You don't have to read it, you can take it and burn it if that's what you really want. I mean, I don't want you to burn it but inside this envelope is something that I've owed you for a very long time." He held the envelope out to her one more time. Ada looked over to him frustrated and snatched the envelope from his hand but still didn't look at it, just tucking it under her arm as she stood there. "If you really don't want to know what is in this envelope then that's fine. But I won't be sticking around to be hated for the entire reunion. Marc can hunt me down and kick my ass seven ways to Sunday if he has to but I refuse to stay here if all I'm going to get is guilt from you." He knew he was pushing her buttons but he felt like he had to, otherwise she was just going to remain as stubborn as ever. He didn't raise his voice, he didn't speak out of turn really, but he knew that it would rile her up.

"And what exactly did you expect when you showed up? That I would smile at you and forget everything? Just treat you like everyone else? Well you aren't just another one of the guys and you know that. So deal with it. Or are just gonna shut me out completely again because you don't want to deal with shit? That's your M.O. isn't it? If there is even the slightest chance that things won't be perfect you're gonna turn tail and run. You can't run forever," she stated flatly. Her words may have been like ice to begin but by the time she was done it was more like those days back in high school when she was trying to help him get through his classes. Understanding but firm. His jaw tensed more than it had since they'd begun talking outside the Gym Hall. He could feel the anger and unspoken words bubbling up inside himself but this wasn't the time or the place for it. She'd taken the envelope, so that was always a step forward. When her words became less harsh and cold, his anger ebbed and his face relaxed a lot more.

Sighing she looked down at the envelope and ran her fingers over the words written in his hand writing. "And for your information, I've never hated you, not even for a moment. There was never room in my heart to hate you... It was always occupied with something else," she admitted as she turned the envelope over in her fingers. Opening it slowly she pulled out the contents held within and began to read. He watched her opening the envelope and he waited with baited breath, his body leaning against his truck as his arms remained crossed across his chest.

To my dearest Anela,

You'll probably hate me by the time you ever get to read this letter. I'll honestly be surprised if you ever even read this, I fully expect you to set it on fire and roast some damn s'mores with the flames. I mean hell I don't even know if I'll ever send it to you but I need to get this down on paper before I forget anything. Just in case.

I've done something that has destroyed you inside and for that I am truly sorry. It didn't go down the way that I wanted it to but I had no other choice. After Simone's death I was a mess. Everything was dark and dead in my eyes. I put on a front for you and everyone else, even my makuahine wasn't aware of how deeply Simone's death affected me. I was lying to everyone. Simone and I weren't exactly friends, but I felt responsible on some level for her death. She was cut off in the prime of her life, Ada. That was a scary thought that ran through my mind at a million miles a minute every single day after prom.

I couldn't stand the idea of you never reaching your full potential. You were meant for so much more in this world than living in this small hick town with me. I had no idea what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go. You had plans for us, I know that, but I felt like a dead weight. I was going to hold you back and I would never be able to forgive myself if I did.

That's why I had to let you go. The whole conversation was so difficult to even think about having and when it happened all of my planned words fell apart and it was raw anger and fear that spoke through. I know I swore that I'd never lie to you but the fear pushed me over the edge. I lied when I said I didn't love you anymore. It was the only words that I could find at the time to make you want to leave.

I'm sorry for a lot of things. I'm sorry for lying, I'm sorry for hurting you, I'm sorry that we can't have our future together anymore and I'm sorry that I wasn't strong enough.

My deepest love, your Makana

There were points where some words were smeared by drops of liquid, most likely tears, especially towards the end. As Ada read the words tears began to well up in her eyes, her chestnut orbs glistening as she covered her mouth half way through reading. That same pain she had felt that night when he told her he didn't love her anymore returned and it nearly knocked the wind out of her once again. Slowly she sank to the ground, her body pressing to the side of his truck for some sort of balance; if it had not been there she would have collapsed fully at that moment. Her breath went weak as she reread the words, still unable to say anything. Her eyes focused on one phrase over and over again. I lied when I said I didn't love you anymore. Her trembling fingers reached out and touched the words, nearly smearing them away with the dampness left from the tears that had rolled over her hand. Pulling them back quickly she folded the letter back up and pressed it to her chest as she lowered her head.

"Our destiny is frequently met in the very paths we take to avoid it..." she croaked, her voice breaking as she tried to speak; quoting Fontaine as the words and their meaning fully sunk into her mind. Swallowing the lump that had formed in her throat she slowly looked to Kai. His eyes met hers and he struggled to hold them there but he pushed through the shame and drunk in every part of her eyes that he could. "You broke my heart to set me free but in the end you tethered me to a life where I couldn't fly because you weren't there. You caged me in cold bars. For ten years I've tried to figure out what I did to drive you away, what I did to make you stop loving me," she quavered, averting her eyes and letting out trembling breath as her dry lips parted. He lied to her, broke her heart that night. Over the last decade she had been a walking shell of her former self because of what happened. Now she was finding out that he had put her through all of that, let her believe he didn't love her because he was afraid. She felt like she was breaking all over again. She was angry and hurt; she couldn't even feel a hint of relief, it didn't even register that perhaps he still loved her right then. All she could comprehend right then was the anguish.

"Do you have any idea the level of hell I have been in since that night?" Her voice was hoarse, rough like an elder who had smoked two packs a day for the last fifty years. He stared at the side of her face and couldn't find the words as quickly as he would have liked. He cleared his throat and shook his head trying to force it all together. As he finally spoke, his voice was edged with regret and pain. "Probably about as much as I've been in all these years and then some." He crouched down and then shifted his body to lean his back against the truck as he rested his arms across his knees. "I know you're going to be hurting even more and if you want me to go, I'll go. Just please let me get Ash to look out for you or someone. I really don't want you being alone right now. Please, Ada..." He was pleading with her now, he refused to leave her alone but he'd respect her wish if she wanted him gone.

"You have no idea what you have put me through! The last ten years I haven't been able to get close to anyone, too afraid, too broken. Afraid that if I did I would end up having someone else walk away from me, push me out of their lives because of something I did wrong. That they would stop loving me and I would once again have no idea what I did! Afraid that if anyone got close to me it wouldn't be fair to them because every one of the million pieces of my broken heart still belonged to you..." she growled through clenched teeth like she always did when she was angry. Shaking her head it dropped as she looked down at the pavement beneath them. "My mind has been a storm raging since that night and it has never stopped. It haunts my dreams and invades my thoughts at nearly every waking moment. Didn't stop after the wreck, after the coma, after the proposal, the wedding, it never stopped," Ada rambled on; about things that Kai may never have known about, things she begged Marc and Ash to never utter a word to Kai about.

Kai let her ramble on and on, she clearly needed to get it out. He was reeling as all this information poured out and he had no idea how to handle it, he had been out of it since he'd ended things with Ada but she probably already knew that through Ash and Marc. He'd never said they couldn't tell her anything, he just never verbally gave them permission or denial on that front. It was their choice who they told what stories to and he wasn't going to gag them, especially not when they were talking to Ada. He had no idea about a wreck, no idea about a coma, he assumed about the proposal and wedding but it was hard to hear that they'd actually happened... He sat in stony silence, his fingers picking at his cuticles as he just sat there and listened. He wasn't going to interupt her, he wanted her to get this weight, that he was responsible for placing on her all those years ago, off of her chest. He never imagined that his actions would have caused this kind of reaction in her, not in a million years. How he felt before hearing all of this had nothing on how he felt now. He was surprised he could still breathe.

Ada shook her head at his silence. She really had no idea what he had been going through. She never asked much to Marc and Ash about Kai, only asking how he was doing from time to time. It was the only thing she would ask, he had driven her out and she had always felt that if he wanted her in his life he would have reached out to her. All these years she figured he hadn't because of that night, because he truly didn't want her around anymore. Leaning forward she just sat there staring at the ground, still as could be. Her hair fell away to the side. Kai couldn't stay crouched any longer, he felt numb and had to do something to get some feeling back into himself. He stood up and stretched his legs out, watching Ada as he did so.

On her back was the tattoo she had gotten years ago. At first glance it looked to just be an intricate eagle perched on a sword. Kai would probably recognize it on some level, it was the insignia of her family. But there was something very different about it as familiar as it may have been. It had been redone and looked nearly Tribal Hawaiian in design. Looking closer he could see the scars the tattoo hid beneath the dark ink. Where had those come from? He opened his mouth to speak, his words ready to finally come out but her voice stopped him in his tracks again and he simply stood over her, listening to every little thing she had to say to him.

"You know... When my husband died I barely mourned him. Losing him felt more like that night at prom, it felt like losing Simone to me. Losing some distant person that you really didn't know; that you may have called an acquaintance or even a friend but nothing like you would think a wife would mourn a husband. I couldn't, I was still mourning the loss of you. And in the back of mind I even think I felt some sort of relief. That maybe, just maybe, if you ever walked back through my door that there would be nothing holding me back," she said quietly. She didn't know why she was opening up right then, she was still furious he had lied to her and hurt; but that fog that had been in her mind all these years seemed to be clearing, it always cleared when he was around. Closing her eyes her lips rolled together, her tongue trying to dampen the dryness.

Opening the door of his truck, Kai grabbed something from the cubby in the door. He closed it over and handed a half empty bottle of water down towards her. "Even if you didn't mourn him how you feel you should have done as his wife, I'm sorry for your loss. I..." His words trailed off as he steeled himself to admit something that she probably wouldn't want to hear right then. He decided to keep it quiet, she'd find out everything soon enough. Now wasn't the time to add more shit to the show. Ada reached up and took the water bottle and shook her head somewhat. "I did what he would have done if I had died. He didn't love me, just as I didn't love him. We just married because it was the next logical step," she admitted as she undid the cap and took a small sip from it. It was true, neither of them loved each other but at the time it was what was expected of them. He sat on the ground this time, his legs stretched out in front of him and his head resting on the metal of his door. He turned his head, his ear cooling against his truck as he watched her again. "You know I never, not for one damn second, imagined that you'd never move on. I always thought that I had been the lucky one, that I'd never move on from us even if I was the one that chose it." He chuckled then, a hard and stupid chuckle, showing just how ridiculous he realised his words were now.

Ada joined in on the chuckle as she looked over to him, placing the cap back on the bottle and closing it. Resting it on the ground she gave him a solemn half smile. "How could I? Didn't matter that you ended it, didn't matter the pain, to me I was the lucky one. You were my makana," she said as she looked away and found her mind wandering to something from her past. Slowly she stood up, using the truck as balance as she hopped on one foot and glanced down at him. "There is something I need to show you, something I probably should have that night," she said holding her hand out to him.

He frowned a little in confusion but took her hand without a second of hesitation, he wasn't going to risk upsetting her again right now. Ada helped him up as best she could, which wasn't much, but she found she didn't mind his touch right then. His mind was reeling and he wondered what she was going to show him. He realised then, after a moment of watching her hobble around that her leg was still hurt. "Hang on, your leg. Here, this'll be easier and less... man-handly than earlier." His face flushed a little as he realised just how caveman he had been. He ducked down in front of her and motioned for her to jump on his back. "I can at least give you a lift to wherever we're going, just point and I'll walk."

Ada smirked and opened the cab door to his truck. "Nope, gonna have to take your clunker. Just a quick jaunt, we'll be right back," she said before climbing inside and pushing stuff out of her way so she could sit down in the passenger side. She let out a laugh, an actual laugh as she looked around. The thing was just like she remembered, a mess. It was a different truck but it might as well been the same one as far as she was concerned. He never was the neatest person. Looking over at him she let out a reminiscent smile and motioned for him to climb in. "You really haven't changed have you?" she asked softly; poking a bit of fun at him as she held up a bag of fast food wrappers. "Come on, drive me to my parents. You remember the way don't you?" Leaning back she rolled down the passenger window and leaned against it. Her parents home wasn't far from the high school, just a few minutes drive through the small town. She knew she had things to take care of in the gym but this wouldn't take long and seemed to be way over due. If they were going to at least get along enough to get through this reunion they both needed to get everything out.

Ada closed her eyes while he drove, just letting the wind cut through her hair. There was something peaceful about the moment and it brought back many memories of them just driving along the back roads in the county when they were younger. Kai had always loved to drive and Ada just enjoyed the time with him. After the break up Ada had taken up to driving a lot more since he wasn't around to escort her nearly everywhere. She had found solace behind the wheel. When she drove these days she felt a small connection with him and with the time they were together. It was one of the few things she had anymore to bring her peace. Once they arrived at her parents home she hopped out of the cab of the truck and hobbled to the front of the grand manor.

"Alright you neanderthal, your gonna have to carry me from here. Destination, my room," she quipped. She was glad her parents weren't home. They were off in Italy for the fall so she had the place to herself. The last thing she wanted to do was deal with the questions and looks they would surely have when they saw Kai carrying their daughter over the threshold. He let out a genuine but short laugh and shook his head as he lifted her like a groom would lift a bride. Ada slipped her arms over his shoulders and clasped them behind his neck. She had forgotten how strong he was and how safe she felt in his arms; it took everything in her not to rest her head on his chest as he carried her. "I'll be careful not to knock your head on the frame, just tuck in." She still smelled the same and he had to stop himself from burying his face into her hair. She smirked slightly at his words and tucked her head down, her cheek brushing against the side of his neck as they entered before she righted herself and glanced around.

Gathering his thoughts back together, Kai walked them both forwards and through the entryway. The place seemed exactly the same, like it had been frozen in time. The only difference were some newer pictures in some photoframes but he tried not to stare as he carried Ada up the stairs and towards her room. Many of the pictures were the same, some had been updated. There were none of her husband, Ada had cleared those out after he died but still on the wall on the way up to her room was a picture of Ada and Kai that her parents had taken when he picked her up for Prom. He felt like he was twenty all over again. He looked around and took the place in as he sat Ada gently on her the ground. "Wow, I see your taste hasn't changed in the last ten years." He poked fun at her for living in such an old manor all the time back then, it felt only right to keep the joke going all these years later.

Ada sat down on her bed and shot him a look at she pursed her lips. "That is all mom and dad's doing. They refuse to change anything." Laying down she rolled over and started searching under the bed. It was easier than trying to squat down on a hurt ankle at this point. After a minute she let out a "ha! There you are!" and pulled a bag out from behind the bed skirt. Righting herself she sat up and let her legs hang over the edge of the bed as she pulled out a neatly wrapped package. It was done up with ribbons and bows, a layer of dust covering it but other than that it looked like it hadn't been touched in ages. Her fingers ran over it slowly, flicking at the tag that read "For Makana, From Anela". Slowly her head raised and she held it out to him, she was shaking a bit; nervous for him to see it but after all these years she figured it was time.

Walking forward tentatively, Kai took the dusty package carefully, holding it as if it might break. "Uh, it isn't gonna blow up in my face, is it? This being your master plan to destroy me after all these years?" He tried to make light of the situation, like he always used to do when he felt nervous or uncomfortable. "Maaayybbbeee," she said rolling her eyes a bit. He looked over the tag and ran a finger over the words that Ada had written who-only-knows-how long ago. The wrapping was so very Ada that it brought a gentle smile to his face. His eyes narrowed as his cheekbones rose and he licked his parched lips. "I guess I should open it, huh?" Blowing some of the dust off the top of it, away from both of them, Kai gently he began to open the parcel up. Ada bit her bottom lip slightly and could only nod as he unwrapped it.

Within the wrapping paper lay a thick scrap book that had been done up obviously by Ada. On the front was a picture of Ada and Kai beneath a tree in her parents back yard that had been taken during a party one night. Ada just resting in Kai's arms as he held her close; the two gazing lovingly towards each other. The title read "Just Forget The World." Within the first ten pages there was nothing but pictures and memento's of their year together. Movie and concert stubs from their various dates, score cards from miniature golf, little key chains they had exchanged tickets for after playing in the arcade. Flower petals from boutonnieres and corsages. Pictures of them on dates together, images of Kai cheering Ada on at swim and fencing meets; Ada leaned over Kai as she helped him study for his finals; Kai strumming away one his guitar as Ada listened; them together with Ash and Marc at graduation, each of them holding up their diploma's. Everything pulled together to tell the story of their senior year of high school. Each image showed just how wrapped up they were in each other and how no matter what happened the world seemed to fade away around them when they were together. That was until the tenth page, it was the last one that was filled in and the rest of the book was just blank pages. On the last page there were no images, only a hand written letter in Ada's perfect script. It read as follows...

My Dearest Makana,

Today we begin a new chapter in our life, one that has yet to be written. The pages may be blank now but before we know it they will be filled with memories we can one day look back on and cherish. This year has been one that I had never expected and even with the tragedies our past now holds I could not be more grateful to have shared this time with you. You have grown this year, from an sapling caught in the winds not sure which direction to grow to a mighty oak who is strong and sure of himself. It has truly been surreal to witness.

I know you have said that I was the one that gave you direction; this humbles me for reasons you may not know. Which is why I have created this gift for you, to repay the gift, the makana you have bestowed upon me. To you I may seem to be driven, to have direction in my life but all I have ever known is point A and point B. The beginning and the next step. I never understood how to go beyond that. Something was missing in my life, a reason to keep stepping forward beyond the end of the line.

You have given me that reason. Your love, your happiness has been my driving force over the last year. A force I know will remain as long as we are together. I have always feared that I would end up holding myself back because I had no passion. You have filled me with that missing piece; that hunger for life. To see what unfolds. I know now that I can spread my wings and fly because I have you with me. Together we will soar to heights untold and touch the stars. You are the spirit to my soul.

You say that I am your Anela, your angel. In my families tongue it means something very different. It means to yearn for, to long for, to crave. When you say that word, when you call me your Anela it makes me blush. To think that I am the angel you long for. How serendipitous is it that apart neither of us could find a reason beyond what lay before our own eyes but together we fill in the pieces that were missing?

A flower cannot thrive without the sun to help it grow; the sun has no reason to shine if there is no flower to bloom. We are each our own flower than needed the others sun to bloom. As the suns sets on today, remember that tomorrow it will rise again and we will enter the next stage of our lives together. As long as we rise each day we will find each other, no matter the distance between us. No matter the darkness that enveloped the night before.

Let us now step forward, knowing that as long as we have each other we will grow, we will thrive because of the other. Our only goal is each other, our only path is the one we create. This last year was the first stone, it is time to lay another; together.

With all my love,
Your Anela

He had to read the letter over a few times before the words really sank in. He looked through the book and was enveloped in memories and emotions from years gone by. By this point, he felt like he should just be made of ice considering how numb he felt. His numbness outside the gym hall and in the parking lot had absolutely nothing on how he felt now. He stared at the pages, fingers tracing over various trinkets and photographs as he lost himself in it.

Ada was unsure what to do with herself as he looked through the scrapbook and read the letter from so long ago. She was never one to just hold still, it drove her nuts. Rising from her place she hobbled over to her dresser, looking at the pictures that where there. Still the same ones from when she lived there so long ago. There were a handful from her years at Yale but what was mostly there were ones of her and Kai. Flicking on her mp3 player she placed it on random, she couldn't stand the silence, and picked up a single picture before making her way to the balcony. Leaning against the door frame and ran her fingers over the glass, tracing the lines of Kai's features; it was his senior portrait. As the song queued up she felt a tightness form in her chest and her eyes drifted close as she listened. She found herself mouthing a few of the lyrics. I had to make a choice that was not mine, I had to say goodbye for the last time. When the bridge came it became more than just lip sync at that point; her voice wobbled but she sung quietly along. "I'll always keep you inside, you healed my heart and my life... And you know I try." Taking a deep breath her eyes opened as she stared out to the back of her parents home, over the garden and pool, the tennis courts off to the west. Reaching up she brushed away the tears that threatened to spill over.

His eyes looked up when she began to sing, his eyes lingering on the back of her head before trailing down her body as she stood at the window. It was familiar but the roles were now reversed, as was the message being given from one of them to the other. He wanted to walk to her then, to wrap her in his arms and never let go but he couldn't move his legs. He closed the scrapbook and as he did, his chest began to tighten and his breathing became laboured. His shoulders began to shake as a growling sob escaped him, he fell to his knees as he clutched the scrapbook to his chest. Ada turned around as she heard the sob escaping him, her eyes widening as he dropped to the ground. She had never seen him like this, even that night he had been as if he were a stone and as cold as ice. This was a side of him she had never witnessed, one she hadn't wanted to see even after that night; the portrait dropping from her hand, it shattering against the marble of the balcony.

Tears streamed down his face and he realised just how much he'd thrown away all those years ago. He knew what he'd given up back them but on no level did he realise just how much he had fucked up both of their lives. He curled himself into as small a ball as he could, not wanting to let go of the memories within his scrapbook. Ada moved quickly to his side, kneeling down as best she could next to him. She wasn't sure what to do at that point. Reaching out tentatively she rested her hand on top of his head, her fingers slowly threading through his hair; something she really couldn't do when they were in high school because of his dreads. Seeing him like this was heart wrenching; she hadn't expected that type of reaction from him when she had handed him the scrapbook. "Kai..." she whispered, trying to get his attention through. Her hand slipping beneath his chin, she tilted his head back gently, the look in her eyes was one of worry and regret. She wished she had shown him this gift so many years ago, that she had taken Marc's advice and gone back to his place that night. Maybe it would have changed things.

"Makana? Please, say something..." she whimpered as she cupped his cheeks in the palms of her hands and wiped the tears away. He looked up into her chestnut eyes, those eyes looked as if they held as much pain as he felt right then. He had known it on some level, he must have, but it took this moment for him to fully claim his feelings. She could hit him or push him away if she had to, he wouldn't fight her but he also wouldn't fight his heart anymore. He gently placed his hands on her cheeks, mirroring her motions before tucking her hair behind her ears. Ada froze as he touched her, she didn't know what to think but her heart was racing in her chest and she felt her breath catch. His eyes devoured the sight of her face as if he would never see it again after this moment. "Fuck it." He pulled her face close to his and pressed his tear streaked lips against hers. Ada's eyes widened as his lips found hers, she was caught like a deer in headlights for a moment. She didn't know if she should push him away but she couldn't find the strength to. His fingers gripped into her hair just tightly enough to keep her there if she chose to be but not so tightly that she couldn't pull away if she needed or wanted to.

Slowly her eyes drifted close, her fingers caressing his cheeks; tears welling up in her own eyes and washing over her as she pulled herself closer to him. She had forgotten how it felt to touch him, to kiss him. The world faded away, as it always had. She could taste the salty sting of their tears in the kiss but it took nothing away from the moment. Her body trembled, her skin tingling as his fingers found their way into her hair. She knew she had missed for his closeness but she hadn't realized how hungry she had been for his kiss. Staggering breaths left her as she forgot everything else, too starved to pull away for that moment. Reluctantly her lips eventually peeled away from his as she gasped for air, warm breaths washing over him from her lips that were just a hairs width from his. "Tell me..." she begged of him, unable to even open her eyes right then. Afraid that if he pushed her away, that if he ran now she would have to watch him leave; she didn't think she could bare it if that was to happen. Not now, not after all this time.

His breathing matched hers, not that he intended to do it, they just seemed to be in sync again even after all this time. He forgot how good she tasted, how warm her body was. He felt like a kid again. He steadied his breathing before speaking in a low whisper, if they weren't so close she'd never have heard his words. "I never should have hurt you or pushed you away. I thought I was being selfless but I was really being selfish. I didn't want to live a life of guilt where I blamed myself if you didn't achieve all of your dreams. I truly felt like an anchor just pulling you beneath the surface and I couldn't have that happen. I thought it was because I wanted you to do well, and it was in part, but now I know it was also my fear and my selfish nature coming out all in one gigantic, hurtful moment. I've wasted ten years of my life not having you as part of me and I was so stupid to think that I was doing us a favour. I've ruined everything." His voice cracked as he admitted everything aloud. He had only cried this hard twice in his life; when his makuahine had passed away and when he had lost Wikoli. He hadn't even cried this hard when he had found out his father was dead.

Ada looked up to him slowly, her eyes drifting open as he spoke. Those were not the words she had thought he would speak and she could only sit there and listen to him as he let everything out. Her hands kept smoothing his hair back, her fingers slipping through the dark mass as she let out a shaky breath. Biting her bottom lip she could only shake her head as he said he ruined everything, the corner of her mouth curling ever so slightly. "And I should have come back that night, I should have fought harder. I should have known you were lying. I should have known better and refused to leave," she whimpered remorsefully. "Maybe if I had given you this that night everything would have been different," she said as she looked down at the scrapbook that was wedged between them. Reaching down she pulled it out and opened it to the last page, her fingers running over the words. "I may have written this a decade ago but I still mean them, all of them." Reaching into her back pocket she pulled out the letter he had written to her and unfolded it carefully; peeling back the next page of the scrapbook's protective sheet and laying it down on the page. Gingerly she sealed it and closed the book, her eyes slowly lifted to meet his; clearing her throat a bit. "But that wasn't exactly what I meant when I said tell me.."

He blinked rapidly for a minute, utterly confused by her words and then it dawned on him. His cheeks flushed and he had to avert his gaze lest he start laughing at the most inopportune moment. It worked for a minute and then he laughed, looking back to her bright eyes, his hands raising up to stroke her cheeks again. "Well, to be faaair, this is the 21st century... Equal opportunities and all..." He grinned before leaning forward and kissing the tip of her nose lightly. "You could always say the words, you know the words." Ada smirked and leaned back slightly as she looked at him, oh he wasn't going to get away with that little quip. "And yet men are still making the same dumb mistakes they have been for thousands of years. Come on, I want I to hear it," she said as she crossed her arms over her chest. She wanted to hear it but only if they were true. God help him if he ever lied to her again; she might very well end up hating him. He cleared his throat and wished in that moment that he had his guitar with him but his voice would have to do. He began to sing one of his favourite songs. "Three little words, eight little letters, which simply mean..." His eyes never left hers, not for one second but his face inched closer and closer, his thumbs circling her skin and his hands sliding deeper into her hair as his voice grew lower. "I love you."

Her hands fell from herself and rested on his chest as he began to sing; she had always loved the sound of his voice; especially when he sung. She had missed the sound terribly over the years. She couldn't help but smile as he sung, it was a smile that had not graced her features since that night. As the last three words came, as he inched closer the smile only grew; a few tears trickling from her eyes and spilling down her cheeks. Kai slipped his fingers from her hair and wiped the tears away with quick and soft motions. Three little words she never thought she would hear him utter to her again and as they came everything in her broke down. Slipping her fingers up his chest she cupped each side of his neck as she slid closer to him; there was a pain beneath her breast but for once it wasn't one she wished would fade away; it was sweet and warming. He felt the skin of his neck warming at her touch and he gave her a wide, bright smile. A soft laugh came from her lips, one of relief as she replayed the words in her mind. "You have no idea how much I needed to hear those words," she said in a breathless voice as she rested her temple against his. "I love you, I never stopped."

His grin became even wider, he didn't think it was physically possible, but it happened. "I'm just sorry that it took me so long to say them again." He stroked her hair down, tidying the mess that his fingers had made. He kissed her gingerly on the forehead before resting his against the same spot his lips had touched moments before. "As much as I don't want to, we should get back." His mind drifted to Ash and Marc then and he groaned. "Well fuck, those two are going to be smugger than the cats that got the fucking cream when they see this. Ash is never going to stop saying I told you so to me. Ever. Fuck." He laughed deep from within his stomach and shook his head at the impossibility of this moment.

"It can wait, they can wait," she said calmly through the gentle chuckle leaving her body. She knew they needed to get back but she wasn't ready yet. "I've waited a life time to be close to you again, I'm afraid if I move I'll wake up and this will only be another in a long line of dreams," she said as she pulled closer to him; slipping into his lap. "Just a bit longer." She didn't realise it but she was nearly pleading for just another moment alone with him. She knew once they showed back up it was going to be chaos, she needed this time with him even if it was only a short one.

He slipped his arms completely around her as she sat in his lap, his legs splayed out before crossing as she shifted into his body. He'd always loved sitting like this with her. "Yeah, you're right, they can wait. Also we gotta do something about you worrying, it really isn't healthy. I mean, it's not like someone made you worry for a decade... Too soon?" He leaned back and looked at her face as he delivered his punchline, it was probably a little awkward but he just wanted to break the tension, to show her that they were good even if it was a long, long time overdue. Ada looked up at him and smacked him on the shoulder, it wasn't hard or mean but it was enough that it was in fact way too soon for that type of joke. Shaking her head she curled up against him like she had all those years ago, just enjoying the strong embrace he gave her and the comfort that came with it. Her head resting against his chest as she slipped her arms around his waist.

"Please don't let me go," she said quietly as her eyes drifted close; taking a long and deep breath just to breathe him in. It had been far too long. He laughed lightly, his shoulder still stinging a little from her hit but it was deserved. He kissed the top of her head and rested his chin on top of her, holding her as close as he could. "Never again." Ada could only smile at his words as she tightened her arms around him. "I'm going to hold you those words," she whispered before pressing her hand to his heart. She intended to do exactly what she said, she wouldn't let what happened all those years ago repeat itself. She just lay there in his arms for now, knowing they needed to get back but she didn't care. They had missed far too many moments and she intended to make up for at least some right then. The Mp3 player flipped over to another song and she knew by the time it was over they would need to head back but for now she just listened to the words and enjoyed the feeling of his heart beat beneath her hand. They would do things right this time around.

It didn't matter what others were doing at that moment, it didn't matter what they were saying; it didn't even matter the fingers that wrapped around her neck. Cynthia was still painting her pretty pretty picture using Atlas's face as her canvas. It was stunning in her mind, such wonderful colors, such raw emotion. Like they had shown her to in Art Therapy but only this time she had a living canvas. What could be better than that? She kept cackling like the mad woman she was as her fists pummeled his face and she smeared the blood and snot around.

"The butterfly emerges from the cocoon!" she exclaimed proudly as she was drug off of Atlas by Ashley. She tried to kick at the man, she wanted more paint. More paint for her pretty pretty picture. Minimalist work was not who she was, she was avant-garde! As she heard Ash say Ada's name she snapped out of it and looked down at her hands and then over to Atlas. "He asked for it," she said calmly as she started to catch her breath, coughing slightly at the dryness in her throat and the pain on her skin. It still hadn't even dawned on her that he had tried to strangle her to get her to stop.

"Yes, yes must clean up. Ada say I must always pick up after myself. It's a moral imperative," she said emulating Ada's speech and hand gestures to a T. Turning on her heels she dashed off to the women's locker room without another thought to go clean up, muttering to herself about how beautiful her picture was and how proud Ada would be of her; then the voice would flip and she would start criticizing her work, telling herself that she should have used cleaner brush strokes.

Marc slipped out of his car once he parked it in the lot behind the gym; fixing the button on his vest before quickly making his way down the sidewalk that lead to the main doors. He stopped in his tracks as he noticed something on the concrete. Leaning down he picked up a broken phone. He knew the phone, it was Ada's. Looking at the blank cracked screen he figured that was why the call had gone dead. Maybe she dropped it when he told her about Jessica? Still the fact that it was just laying here worried him as he looked around. Ada was not one to just leave things laying around. Standing up he looked around, her car was still there. Swallowing lightly he turned and decided to check out what was going on inside of the gym before he officially decided to get worried.

Stepping into the gym he looked about, still no sign of Ada and he couldn't spot Kai either. This was either really good or really bad. Letting out a short breath he arched a brow as he saw Atlas and then witnessed Cynthia skipping off to the locker room covered in what looked like red paint but after looking back over towards Atlas he put two and two together really damn quick and shook his head. "What did that idiot do now?" he muttered to himself. Oh well, wasn't his problem. He had a case already in town and little altercations such as this was below his pay grade. Clearing his throat he lifted his arms up a bit.

"Class of 2006 can I have your attention please!" he bellowed like a drill instructor as he cupped his hands around his mouth. Marc looked different than he had in high school. His hair was darker, he was dressed much sharper than he had in those days. After High School he had actually grew a couple of extra inches and thanks to his time in the military had put on some weight; his shoulders broader now. He had turned from a scraggly unsure kid into a confidant man of action. At least that is what he told himself in the mirror each morning. He was right though and he had only become that much more ruggedly handsome over the last teen years.

He waited for people to look at him, something that might have sent him running when he was a teen but now it didn't even phase him. Taking a few quick steps he climbed up the bleachers a bit so he could oversee the entire gym. Still no sign of Ada or Kai but he spotted Ashley and smiled at her as he rubbed his hands together. His smile faded quickly as he got down to business.

"Listen, before it hits Twitter and Facebook feeds I need to tell you something," he said in a serious voice. He hated breaking news like this but it had to be done, for their own safety. "Last night there was a murder here in Grimm. We lost Jessica Flaggstaff. Now, a murder in and of itself is a horrid event but this one will strike us even harder for several reasons. I normally would not share such information this early in an investigation but I feel it prudent to do ahead before the rumors begin to fly. Jessica was murdered in the same fashion as our Simone was," he said in a voice loud enough to be heard at the back of the gym. He waited a moment for initial reactions to pass and motioned with his hands for people to calm down.

"I know, the thought of it happening all over again is one that is hard to swallow but I have doubled checked everything with Deputy Grayson. We are sure of this. This does not mean the reunion is over before it begins but it does mean that I wish for each member of the class of 2006 to be extra careful. I suggest that none of you go alone anywhere until we have more information. Pair up at a minimal, do not go walking alone, stay together and in lit areas. Let others know where you are going and when you will return, keep your phones on you with the GPS locators activated. This will all help us remain safe. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me, I will be staying here until after the Mixer this evening to ensure each of you are safe and to give a ride home to any that need it. Those of you that are staying in hotels tonight, I suggest you plan a sleep over with an old friend and bunk up," he said before stepping down off the bleachers and bee-lining it over to Ashley.

Walking over to her he hugged her quickly and whispered against her ear as to not alert anyone else. "Where in the love of god is Ada and Kai?" he asked as he pulled back from the hug; obvious worry flashed in his eyes as he stood there before he looked over towards Atlas. "Well you never seem to fail at making yourself the center of attention do you?" he said as he crossed his arms over his chest before shaking his head and looking back over towards Ash, waiting for an answer.

Interacting With: @Lady Amalthea Cynthia McMillan & Marc Tender, @Charnobylisk Ashley Cunningham & Jasmin Morgan, @foxygen Atlas Sterling, @Salrynn Jae-Kwoon Park & Hye-Eun Song.

Riley felt her hand being grabbed by Cynthia and watched her starting to trace star patterns over the top of her hand, she certainly had lost a lot of her sanity she wasn't making that much sense and stared at Cynthia and nodded. "Yes I see the pretty stars." Riley said quietly before turning her attention back towards Atlas and snorted at his comment and rolled her eyes at him. "I never said I was an angel, and I am making it my business anyway." Riley said she felt her hand finally being released and Cynthia had suddenly turned her attention towards Atlas she could hear the full out crazy now in the girls voice and suddenly was shocked and startled when she watched Cynthia tackling Atlas and pinning him to the ground.

"Holy fucking shit!" Riley yelled she was about to try and stop her from possibly killing Atlas, even if he did deserve the beating after so many years of torturing others herself included. But before Riley could even butt in Ashley quickly came over hearing her heels clacking over Ashley started to pry Cynthia off of Atlas, Ashley then managed to calm Cynthia down after mentioning Ada. When the girl finally managed to calm herself down then she turned to head off back to the ladies room to get clean off Atlas' blood from her hands. Riley sighed softly as she went over and approached Ashley and smiled at her brightly and pulled her friend into a hug. "Good to see you again girl! And i'm glad that you managed to break that up." Riley said as she looked down at the bloodied Atlas, he honestly did have it coming to him like Cynthia said.

"How have you been doing?" Riley asked Ashley, as she turned her attention towards the gym door and saw Marc coming in he certainly had changed over the last ten years he seemed more confident then his quiet self her eyes watched him heading up towards the bleachers and then made an announcement. And it wasn't news that she did not want to hear Jessica Flaggstaff a girl that she had class with quiet a few times with and always saw her in the library was actually murdered the same exact way that Simone was ten years ago. It certainly was not a coincidence that this happened before the reunion started.

Riley looked over towards Hye she didn't want to go to her parents house just yet and she had gotten herself a hotel then she looked towards Ashley as well. "You two if you haven't gotten a hotel room want to bunk or something? It could be like a sleep over ya know?" Riley said with a smile. Then she realized that Cynthia was alone in the girls bathroom and Ada told her to watch over her and then looked over towards Marc as he approached Ashley. "By the way you look good, and thanks for the info i'll be back going to check up on Cyn." Riley said as she quickly started to make her way towards the girls locker room.

Jae-kwoon Park and Hye-eun Song

Interacting with Atlas, Riley, themselves and Marc to an extent.
Located in the gyms

Jae sighed as Atlas almost shoved his buddy away and then was insulted by the great man himself, Jae couldn’t help but snigger. He sounded like such a pussy that deserved to get their daily cat food while doing sweet fuck all. A rematch wasn’t even needed when Cynthia started to clobber him, it seemed just right that a rematch wasn’t even needed because of what Cynthia did. Jae continued to laugh uncontrollably, even while blood was spluttered towards the gang leader. But Jae didn’t seem to care, Hye did however; she wasn’t impressed with the scene and sighed softly because she didn’t think it would resort to this again. It was 10 years later after all, she could forgive Cynthia because Cynthia was a bit of a psycho that just needs a few more lessons in life in her opinion, but not Atlas nor Jae, Atlas was the one getting his head pounded in so she guessed he has a reason to be angry.

“Oh my gosh…” Hye placed her hand on her head, facepalming then shook her head side to side “This… is really unusual to see” she said sarcastically. She wasn’t the one for sarcasm but in this situation she really didn’t know what else to say because of her open-minded behaviour, she wasn’t really scared of what to say and when to say it. Walking backwards away from the marvel vs enemy-esque fight slowly she tripped over from behind and landed right on her back “Owwwiieee!!!!” She shouted “This hurts!” Breathing heavily for a few minutes she rolled on her stomach and then got up. Just in time too, she heard Ashley’s voice and then Cynthia. She sighed, seems the ordeal was over just in time.

"Class of 2006 can I have your attention please!"

His voice bellowed the room and Hye and Jae instantly looked to Marc with serious looks on their faces. Seems they had to bunk with someone but luckily in the case of Hye, she already had her own house and she looked to everyone. She found Riley so sweet because Riley seemed to already have a few plans for her but Hye had a little think “It’s ok, I have my own home if anyone wants to bunk with me” She offered to everyone. She wanted to help as much as possible and she bit her lower lip, she was scared. But she had to deal with it.

Jae sighed softly, he probably had to call his gang to tell them that he wasn’t coming to Ohio for a few more days then he planned due to the messy ‘murder’ that marc mentioned. But they can wait, right now he has to think of what he is going to do. “Oohhhh shit” he muttered, this means the police were involved, he was probably gonna be in deep shit now! Ok, he had to not act nervous. He needed to keep his cool for obvious reasons otherwise he would look suspicious.

“I’ll stick with you Hye” He mentioned, he had to be good for the love of god.

"Ok good" Hye smiled softly as she finally had some company to take her home tonight "Anyone else?? strength in numbers you know"

Scuffed up well worn cow boy boots slipped out of a vehicle in the parking lot of Grimm High School near the gymnasium. The door closed heavy on the old Ford F-150 as the boot heels scraped across the ground. The man that stepped out of the truck stood tall, with broad shoulders and walked as if he was a soldier. He wasn't he was a Marine, there was vast difference. Granted the way he carried himself was the only thing that gave him away. His blonde hair was longer than what most Marines wore and he was not dressed in uniform; wearing a simple pair of fitted faded blue jeans and a black s-shirt beneath his sport coat. Adjusting his belt he clipped his keys to the belt loop and looked around the grounds of the high school with his baby blue eyes. Rubbing his chin slightly he wondered if this was the best place to do this but after all this time did he really want to wait any longer? There really was no good time to what he needed to; might as well get it over with. He wondered if he would be welcome back. Granted he wasn't from Grimm and didn't attend high school here but at least one person he needed to track down was and the one that was at the top of his list was supposed to be coordinating the event.

One Year Ago...

"One successful extraction, one failed sir," a man stated into the com as the helicopter took off into the air over the deserts of Afghanistan and the crew secured everything into place for the ride out. On the floor of the back of the whirly bird a man who was bloodied with baby blue eyes sat with one knee pulled to his chest, his arm draped over it as he stared at a picture; running his fingers over the face of a woman that could hardly be made out anymore even if you knew her. He left out a long breath as he just continued to stare at it. Someone tried to talk to him but he didn't respond, even as the medic started to patch up the numerous bleeding wounds on his face, arms, back and chest.

"Gunny!" one of the men finally bellowed and the man looked up. "Lawson, you okay?" the man that had bellowed asked and he nodded; folding the picture back up and slipping it into the waistband of his ragged pants that had probably been the only pair he had worn the last four years. They were caked in blood, dirt and other things; stiff and frayed at the knees.

"I'm good. Thank you for the extraction Captain," Lawson said in a steely voice.

"Surprised you have a photo still left on you," the Captain said as the medic continued to patch up the gunny.

"That and my wedding band are the only things I have left," he said as he looked out to the night sky as he watched as a drone strike hit the place that had been home for the last four years. Resting his head back against the cold steel his jaw tightened some. "How long?"

"Couple hours to the Carrier, then who knows. Don't worry, you'll be back before you know it."

"Not soon enough but at this point any moment is better than never." The Captain could only nod in agreement. Lawson had been through the depths of hell over the last four years being a POW but he had somehow managed to survive, he though felt like he had failed since one ended up being left behind. Sometimes in life there are matters beyond your control that you must live with. To Lawson, the only thing he could do is try to learn to live with this one and keep marching forward. That is what a Marine does. Semper Fi.

Present Day

His fingers wrapped around the handle of the door to the gym and he swung it open, stepping in and glancing around. The place seemed to be pretty packed right then but from vibe of the gym was anything but a relaxed party. The general air caused him to arch a brow as started to walk slowly; seemingly to be looking for someone or something. If anyone looked at him he would give them a bright welcoming smile and say something like "Howdy" or "Afternoon Ma'am" as he gave a respectful nod of his head. After a moment of looking it was clear that who or whatever he was searching for wasn't there right then.

Then his eyes fell on two familiar faces and he grinned to himself. If anyone knew where to find his Bella, it would be those two. Marc and Ashley were standing together and seemed to be talking to each other as well as perhaps some others, well at least one other.

"Thanks Riley, you look as wonderful as ever," he said to her before looking back over to Ashley and waiting for an answer to exactly where Ada was.

Placing his fingers to either side of his lips Lawson let out a loud short whistle before yelling out over the crowd. "Squid! You're out of uniform!"

Marc froze when he heard the voice and snapped his head around, his jaw going slack and his skin nearly going white as if he had just seen a ghost. Lawson chuckled and rolled his shoulders back as he stood there at parade rest, clasping his hand in front of him; giving Marc a moment to really regain his senses. Marc blinked a few times, half slapping Ash on the shoulder and motioning over to the Marine. "Ash... I think I am hallucinating," he muttered as Lawson finally stepped over to the two. He smiled at the two of them and gave a bit of an brow raise as Marc started to pace around him and eventually pushed his index finger into the shoulder of Lawson. "Holy shit, the Jarhead lives." Marc was still in a bit of shock and it caused Lawson to chuckled a bit before the both of them gave each other a strong bro hug and pats on the back.

"Good to see you too Marc," Lawson said as the two released each other. Lawson looked over towards Ashley and bowed slightly to her. "Miss Cunningham, you look as stunning as ever," he said warmly in his thick Carolina accent.

"How, when? I know why but damn man, explain!" Marc explained.

"Report I can give - IED, captured, extracted a year ago, been in De-brief until last week. Went home, no one was there. Found out about the reunion and figured that I would find her here," Lawson quickly informed Marc. Marc nodded, knowing that if Lawson wasn't saying anything else it either A; wasn't needed or B; couldn't be said in the presence of civilians. Glancing around Lawson still wasn't seeing what he was looking for. "Marc, where is my wife? Where is Ada?"

Location: Women's Locker Room
Interacting With:@Nallore

Cyn made her way into the locker room and over to the sinks, she was proud of herself; she had painted such a beautiful picture. Her therapist would have proud of her. She should have taken a selfie and posted it to Instagram. Oh well, no worries. There would be more moments to create beauty. It was all just a matter of time.

"Next one will be better, practice always makes you better. Except for you, you just get sloppy when you lose control. No I don't. That is what art is all about, losing oneself! Not when it means bashing a person's nose in. He deserved it. Hey, if you want people to stop calling you killer you need to stop acting like one. Oh please a killer would have killed him, I just have him a face lift. You call that a face lift? Well he looks better now didn't he? Worst rhinoplasty I have ever seen. Well I didn't exactly have a scalpel, I did the best I could. Okay fair enough but I still think you should have made sure there was more purple in the cheeks before you smeared the blood. That wasn't smearing, those were defined brushstrokes. Yeah, whatever you say," Cyn said rambling to herself as she washed her hands; the blood trickling down the drain in washed out pinks and reds, each line streaming along the white porcelain.

Turning she smiled at Riley and held up her hands, still dripping but at least it was now with water instead of blood. "See, all clean, all clean," she exclaimed proudly as she yanked off some paper towels and dried off. Stepping over to the waste basket by the locker room door she peered out and gasped. "Oh shit, it's the coppers. I'm in trouble now. No you're not, everyone knows if you push a crazy you get what you deserve. Really? Really, you have a get out of an assault free card. Really think Ada would let Marc take you back? No. Okay then," she said as she looked back out the small piece of glass.

"Holy shit. You see that? I do but I'm the crazy one, question is do you? I do but I thought I was the crazy one. Oh, um, maybe we both are? Well two crazies make a sane person right? Right. Okay. Hey Riley you know who that is? That's Ada's dead husband Dj," she said pointing through the glass to Lawson. "Shit just got real!"

Ada sat there in Kai's arms and relaxed for the first time fully in probably the last ten years. Her head rested on in the crook of his shoulder as she fiddled with the fabric of his shirt; she had forgotten just how comfortable he was to curl up against. As the song ended she didn't want to move, she just lay there smiling softly and taking in the moment, not even realizing that the song had changed over to a new one. Though as it started playing she couldn't help but giggle to herself how fitting the lyrics were to her for how she felt about the man whose arms were encircled around her right then. Tilting her head back she looked up at him, just taking in his features as her hand reached out and her fingers ran through his facial scruff.

"I think you are going to have to help me a bit," she said softly as she pointed down to her ankle. The swelling wasn't bad but it had already bruised up a little and probably would darken even more as the night went along. "But of course." He grinned as he tucked his arm under her knees and cradled her back gently as he stood upright, carrying her as carefully as he could. He began to make his way towards the door when he realised that they were in Ada's room. "Ada... I need to check something." He walked her over and sat her gently on her bed before he made his way to her closet.

Rummaging inside the wardrobe he looked for her prom dress. Ada's brow rose as Kai started to go through her clothing. "I don't think anything in there will fit you," she stated rather mater-of-factly before it dawned on her what he may be looking for. Standing up she hobbled over to him and glanced inside. It only took a moment for her to know it wasn't there. She always kept things organized so she could grab what she needed without evening having to look. "It's not there," she said quietly and the thought gave her a chill that ran down her spine. She had just tried the thing on the other day to see if it still fit, even posting some pictures of her wearing it online. Kai gently placed a hand on Ada's back, rubbing it back and forth to try and comfort her.

"It was here not two days ago, knowing whoever is doing this was in my room is creepy. It's going to be nerve-wracking being alone here tonight." Kai shook his head and looked into her eyes, his hand cupping her chin to turn her head towards him, Ada biting her bottom lip lightly. "You aren't staying here alone. You're either rooming with me, Ash or Marc. Or we'll all come here and keep you company. You won't be alone. Not anymore." Ada smiled slightly and let out a little breath of relief. She didn't want to be alone tonight with everything going on and the thought of Kai staying near brought her some much needed comfort. "Having you near will make things much easier."

He kissed her forehead and let her do what she had to do. Smiling softly she reached over and grabbed an outfit from her closet. She had planned to head home before the mixer but she doubted she would have time to make it back later. Reaching into a drawer she pulled out an ace bandage and tucked it into a shoe box before shuffling slightly to get a hold of everything she would need for the evening. "I guess we should go." Kai gave a nod before glancing around the room some more. His mind wondered how someone could have came into this house and not left a single trace. There had to be something... but they didn't have time right now. He'd tell Marc once he arrived at the gym.

"C'mon, I've got you." Kai picked Ada up once again and made his way out of the room and down the stairs. As they passed the pictures along the wall Ada stopped them. "Kai, a picture is gone. It was one of all the Senior Superlatives," she said as her fingers ran over the spot where it had been. The wallpaper slightly faded around the edges where a frame must have hung for years. The entire situation made her feel uneasy as she slipped her arms around Kai's shoulders and pulled herself closer.

Stopping outside the front door. He took the keys from Ada and locked the place up as tightly as he could. Scooping her up again, Kai made his way towards his truck. Once they reached the truck Ada placed her things near the passenger door and stayed in the center. Right then she wasn't about to sit any further away from him than was absolutely necessary. Kai glanced over and grinned before kissing her on her temple. He started the truck up and pulled out of the driveway, making their way back to the school.
~ Meanwhile... ~

Ash was glad that Cynthia had calmed down at the mention of Ada's name and she appreciated that the poor woman had wandered off to clean herself up and hadn't expected Ash to do it. A familiar voice drifted over to her and she spotted Marc announcing to the entire hall for their attention. Her jaw slacked and a gasp left her as her hands rose up to cover her mouth. Ada had just had lunch with Jessica, she remembered her mentioning it on the phone. Oh god, poor Ada was going to be devastated. Ash then realised that if Marc was here then Ada was no longer on the phone to Marc. Her eyes scanned the place as Marc continued his instructions of safety and she realised that Kai was also missing. Well sugar honey iced tea.

As Marc finished up, she saw him heading directly for her. She embraced him quickly, knowing his subtleties by now and heard his whispered question. She chewed on her lip as she held the hug a second longer, her voice whispering like his. "I genuinely don't know. Last I knew Kai was behind me and Ada was on the phone to you." She heard Riley then and Ash shook her head. "Thanks Riley but I think I'd better stick around with Ada. I'll check in on you guys though, for sure. Thanks for checking on Cyn. Keep safe. Call if you need anything." She smiled to Riley before turning her attention to Marc, hearing his comment at Atlas. She gave him a playful shove on the shoulder and tutted at him. "C'mon Marc, there's no need for that..."

She sighed and slipped her phone out of her purse. Finding Ada's number she got ready to call it. "I'll give Ada a ca--" Her words were cut off and she fumbled her phone as she looked to the source of the strong whistle. "No way." She stood, gawking at the form walking towards them. Shaking her head she watched as Marc proved that he was real and she let out a nervous laugh. Her hand rising to her mouth from the sheer shock of it all. She gave a bashful smile at Lawson's compliment. "Thank you, DJ. Wow, I just... I can't believe you're here." She stood silently then as he explained what had happened and Ashley froze as he asked the question that she knew would be coming. She bit her lip and looked to Marc, unable to say anything.

Marc wasn't sure how to respond to Lawson right then. Last he knew the man's wife was with Kai; and now both were both no where to be seen. This was not going to go down well. Looking at Ash he sighed slightly and rubbed the back of his neck. "Tinder, where is Ada?" Lawson pipped in as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"Lawson, listen. A lot has gone down. We had a murder last night." Lawsons face lost color as he took a half step towards Marc and worry washed over his features. "It wasn't Ada," Marc quickly reassured the man.

"Then where is she?" he demanded to know.

"Well I was just about to call her and see if she'd disappeared to set some more stuff up for the reunion. I don't know if she might have had some surprises planned, y'know? Lemme just give her a call." Ash gave DJ as genuine a smile as she could and then hit the call button on her phone.

"Thank you Miss Cunningham," Lawson said gratefully but Marc wasn't exactly happy with that idea. He fidgeted a bit and Lawson took note of it. "What?"

Holding the phone to her ear, her stomach dropped when it went straight to Ada's voicemail. Hanging up as subtle as she could, Ash turned and kept her smile on her face and "let it ring". "I think she's busy so I'll let it ring and then leave a voicemail." Turning her back to the two men, Ash could feel her heart beating a mile a minute. Where was Ada? Why couldn't she get hold of her? Hitting the call button again, Ash began talking to the voicemail message.

"Lawson, listen. I called her earlier, the phone cut off. I texted a friend who was with her to stay by her side until I got here," Marc explained. This wasn't going to go down well.

"Hey girl, what surprises are you cooking up now? Give me a call when you're not up to your elbows in streamers and decorations. There's a surprise waiting for you in the gym hall when you get back. A couple, in fact. Call me when you're heading back. Love ya!" Ash was glad she could act otherwise that whole message would have been frantic. Swallowing her nerves, Ash turned back to the guys and smiled. "Hopefully she calls us back soon."

"She can't Ash," Marc said as he pulled Ada's phone out from his pocket and showed it to her. "I found it on the sidewalk outside when I got here." Ash closed her eyes and sucked her cheeks in, trying to control the irritation that she felt with Marc right then. So now he was deciding to open up, eh? Typical.

"Who did you leave her with?" Lawson asked taking the phone from Marc and feeling his stomach knot up.

"An old friend, I'm sure she is safe." Marc was trying to avoid telling Lawson like this. Granted Marc didn't know what was going on but he was sure Kai was with her and keeping her safe. Right? Ash's eyes narrowed as she looked at Marc, that statement could only mean one thing...

"Tinder! Who?!?" Lawson was worried at this point. Marc kept rubbing the back of his neck, this was not a question he wanted to answer but the look on Lawsons face let him know he'd better answer and soon. Taking a long deep breath Marcs eyes slowly looked over to Ash as his jaw stiffened.

"Kai."

"You left her with him?!?" Lawson said as he narrowed his eyes.

Ash gaped and nudged Marc's shoulder. "There is absolutely no way that Ada didn't go off in a rage at Kai when she saw him. We both know that all too well." She folded her arms across her chest, her phone being crushed between her fingers and the crook of her elbow.

"Yeah I know, but I figured if anyone would be able to keep her safe if someone came along it would be him until I got here you know?," Marc said rubbing the back of his neck. "Jessica was in Ada's prom dress Ash, that means who ever is doing this was in her house.." Shaking her head, Ash glared at Marc before having an idea. "I'll call Kai. He'll know what's going on and he can tell us where Ada disappeared to after she gave him an earful."

Ash walked away from DJ and Marc, her phone rising to her ear as it rang. Lawson looked over at Ash and nodded before looking back at Marc and clasping his hands before him in parade rest. "Lawson, I am sure she is fine. Kai wouldn't do anything to hurt her."

"Oh really? Who was the one that broke her?" Ash walked over to DJ, while the phone continued to ring in her ear, and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "He would never hurt her again, is what Marc meant to say." She gave a chastising look towards Marc as she walked away when the phone went to Kai's voicemail, but at least it had been ringing so that was a positive sign. Marc gave a cringe and smacked himself in the face. That was what he had meant to say but it just came out wrong. Looking back at Lawson he sighed and rested his hand on the mans shoulder.

"Listen, I know you really don't have anything positive inside about the man but he has been my best friend since high school. I know you don't trust him but I do and I know you trust me," Marc said and Lawson gave a short nod. He still didn't like the idea though that his wife was supposedly with the man that hurt her all those years ago.

"Tinder, if she gets hurt I am putting it on your shoulders." Marc nodded, it would be his fault if she did. He was the one that told Kai to stay near. He doubted anything was wrong but he was starting to get worried. It wasn't like Ada to just wander off without letting people know what was going on.

"Kai, I am going to kick your ass from the gym hall to the cafeteria if you don't call me back in the next five minutes." She sighed as she hung up, her fingers rapping on her screen as she sent a text message to him as well.

To Kai-Bear:
Kai, call me back ASAP!!! Is Ada with you?? Do you know where she went??? Super worried!!! CALL ME!!!!! xxx

Looking up from her phone, she debated adding more to the message, warning Kai about DJ being here but she figured that would just cause Kai or them, if they were together, to not come back here. Ada was going to kill her... Ash rose her free hand to her neck before rubbing the sides of it lightly with her fingertips. "I've left a voicemail and a message. At least his phone is working because it rang to voicemail. I'll call back in a couple minutes if he doesn't call me back before then."

"I'm going to look for her," Lawson said and turned to leave, only to have Marc step in front of him.

"Give it a few minutes, if Kai doesn't get back to Ash, I'll go with you."
~ Parking Lot... ~

Kai's phone buzzed in his pocket but he decided to let it ring out. He was enjoying having Ada by his side again, his head resting gently on hers as she leaned against his side. The drive had been too short but at least they had been alone and happy again after all this time. Taking a deep, calming breath Kai pulled them into the parking lot of Grimm High School and parked up the car. He looked down to Ada and smiled. "We better head inside, even if we don't want to." He ran his hand over the crown of her head and stroked her hair down before letting his hand rest flat on her upper back.

"Yeah, I guess we should," Ada said as she leaned against him and tilted her head back. She couldn't believe what was happening right then but she wasn't going to complain. She was close to him once again and as far as she was concerned nothing was going to tear them apart; not this time. Grabbing her things she looked over to him and nudged him out of the truck. "Mind helping me back inside? Least a quick carry until I can get my ankle wrapped up?"

Grinning like a teenager, Kai jumped out the truck and walked around to Ada's side. Scooping her up, he nudged the truck door shut with his hip and locked it up with her help. "I'll take any excuse to hold you again." He kissed her cheek and laughed as he walked them back towards the Gym Hall. Ada smiled as she slipped her arms over his shoulders and rested her head on his chest. "You don't need an excuse anymore," she teased as he carried her towards the gym. Cradling her close to him, once again (he seriously couldn't get enough), Kai walked carefully towards the gym where everyone was no doubt waiting. Hopefully Marc would be there by now or even soon so that he could ask him more information about the murder. Despite how deliriously happy he was, Kai was worried sick about Ada. He was just glad that she was happy to spend time with him so that he could help to keep her safe.

Making their way up to the doors to the gym hall, Kai gently placed Ada down on the ground and held an arm out for her to hold onto. "So Ash and Marc don't lose their shit. Use me as a prop, it'll be good to keep the blood flowing to it until you get it wrapped up. C'mon..." He pushed the door open and carefully guided her inside.

"They are going to anyways, you know they will," Ada said chuckling as she slipped her arm through his, adjusting what she was carrying with her in her other hand and resting her head on his shoulder as he helped her inside the gym. As worried as she was about the murder that had happened, Ada felt safe with Kai near.

Riley walked into the girls locker room and quietly listened to Cynthia speaking to herself she stood there for about a minute before she made her way over towards the sink. Riley turned to look at Cynthia seeing that she had already cleaned her hands seeing just a small bit of Atlas' blood in the bowl of the sink. "I'm glad that you cleaned yourself up." Riley said with a soft smile as she leaned herself up against the wall looking out towards the window seeing all the others in the gym as well.

Then Riley saw the door opening as well and noticed that it was David, which she was truly surprised to see the last time she saw him she and Ada were married together. Though Riley didnt know him all that well he did seem like a fairly nice guy she did hear from Ada awhile back that he was killed in the military, she of course did visit Ada and that's how she found out. "Well the dead do seem to come back to life." Riley said she gently gave Cynthia a pat on the shoulder. "Why don't we go and say hi." Riley said and then turned to head out of the locker room and made her way back into the gym only getting the tail end of the conversation between Ash, David and Marc.

"David! How have you been?" Riley called out as she approached her group of friends Jae and Hye. "Also i'll take up on your offer and go to your place if you don't mind having me that is?" Riley asked turning to look at Hye with a soft smile, Riley heard the door opening seeing both Kai and Ada coming in with her arm wrapped around his, and her head resting on Kai's shoulder. Riley bit her lower lip for a moment looking between David, Kai and Ada. "Well this shit just got awkward..."

Lawson looked over at Riley as she called out his first name. He hated being called by his first name but there was nothing he cared to do about it right then; he was too worried about Ada. Murderer loose in town, Ada's last know whereabouts with the man that broke her, and he was there feeling like people where just holding him back from seeing his Bella again after so long. The thoughts of her had kept him going all those years while he was a prisoner. Each beating, each torturous day was made bearable because he had held out hope that one day he would hold her in his arms once again. Now he was free but still being told to wait.

"Riley, always a pleasure," he said kindly as he took a step back from Marc and eyed Ashley holding her phone; anxiously waiting for it to ring.

"Dj! Hi Dj! See, it's me, it's us. I'm out, we're out. They finally listened. Ada made them listen, she sure did," Cyn chirped in from behind Riley. She waved excitedly with both hands in the air as she darted from behind the musician and tossed her arms around Lawson. Lawson couldn't help but chuckle as he returned the rather enthusiastic embrace. Smoothing her hair down as she looked up at grinning from ear to ear he nodded understandingly. Of course Ada had helped her be released, she was always so adamant about Cynthias innocence. The thought only made him miss his wife so much more.

"I see that, welcome home," he said kindly as Cyn giggled before darting off and hiding behind Riley once again; like a child taking a peek at Santa Clause. Wrapping her arms around Rileys shoulders from behind she giggled. "Ada be so happy! Mmm, you smell good. That strawberry conditioner?" she said before waiving towards Hye and Jae "Hiya! Me to! Sleep over!"

Marc couldn't help but laugh at the scene, even if Cynthia and he had never gotten along it seemed to at least be distracting Lawson for now. As the doors opened to the gym Marc froze; his eyes falling on Ada hobbling in with the help of Kai. What got him most was the look on Ada's features. She was smiling. Not the forced smile she had been plastering on her lips for a decade that so many thought was what she showed when she was happy. No, this smile he had not seen in ten years and it made his heart melt. Reaching out his fingers wrapped around Ashleys wrist and he squeezed slightly, motioning with a quick glance towards the door.

Ada looked around for a brief second, her eyes still adjusting to the dim lights of the gym after the bright sun of the outdoors. She really couldn't pick anyone out yet. Lifting her head she gazed up at Kai and the world felt like it was fading away; it always did when she looked into his eyes. Before she had been a little worried what people may say or think but right then, standing in front of everyone with him once again all those apprehensions fell away. So what if people freaked out? Adelaide had waited what seemed like a life time to be near him once again. Her lips rolled together, she could still taste him on them and she savored it. That smile ever growing as she looked up at him.

Lawson smirked slightly at Cynthias actions and then took note as Marc looked over to him. Marc swallowing slightly as his jaw tightened. Lawsons head followed the turn of Marcs eyes until his own fell on Ada. His eye lit up at first and he smiled broadly, there was his Bella. And the smile on her lips made him weak in the knees, his heart quickening and his breath going shallow. "Finally," he whispered, breathing a sigh of relief that she was in fact alright. Though as his eyes lifted and they fell onto Kai his entire demeanour changed. The smile that warmed his very essence caused a sharp pain to prick at his heart and his blood to boil. The smile was for Kai. He had never met the man, never wanted to, but he had seen the man's picture at her parents home. He might not have had dreads anymore and been older but there was no mistaking that the man who was receiving all his wife's attention and making her smile the way she was, was the very one that had caused her to never smile that way towards him.

Lowering his head slightly, he began to walk towards the happy couple, his shoulders squaring up as he did. Marc gulped and tried to stop him. "Lawson, Lawson!"

"How long?" Lawson demanded to know as Marc stepped in front of him. Marc could do nothing but glance towards Ashley. Marc had no idea, as far as he knew less than an hour ago. Did he miss something? Lawson didn't wait any longer and pushed Marc aside as he continued his mission to see his wife. Cyn looked over as Riley spoke and gulped. "Oh, not good, not good," she said as she ducked down behind Riley and peeked between the woman's legs.

"If you don't mind, I would like a word with my wife," Lawson said as calmly as he could toward Kai as he stepped to the two and took a hold of Ada's arm. Until that point Ada had still been wrapped up in the moment, just gazing towards the man she loved.

Then everything changed as her eyes turned towards Lawson and her smile faded. She was jolted back into reality and a scream left her lips that had not made itself known since the night of the prom. Ada looked terrified suddenly and stumbled back as she shook her head frantically. Landing on her back side she took on the look of a woman trying to escape the clutches of a killer. Wide eyed and frantic as she slide further and further way from Lawson as he reached for her. "Get away from me! You're not real!" she screamed as she kicked his hand away from her.

Vals head whipped around to see what was going on and looked confused as she helped Atlas to his feet and suggested the two of them get out of there before things got any worse. The two quickly turned and made their way out the back door of the gym; Atlas tilting his head back to try to stop the bleeding and muttering something about getting Cynthia back for this shit.

"Ada, it's me," he tried to convince her but she was having none of it. Her back finally pressed against the cold painted bricks of the gym wall, her eyes welling up and tears spilling over her lashes as she kept shaking her head no.

"Kai.. help me..." she pleaded as she kept kicking towards Lawson anytime he took a step towards her. Lawson looked heart broken at the way Ada was reacting. He was scaring her and the person she was asking for was the man that had scarred her in so many ways.

Marc rushed over and started pushing Lawson back. "Enough! You're scaring the shit out of her," Marc said sternly as he grabbed Lawson by the collar and pulled him back to a standing position. Lawson looked over at Marc furious. This was not how this was supposed to go. He eyed Kai and then Marc. "That is my wife!" he began as he tried to push past Marc once again.

"Get him away from me! Kai!" Ada yelled as she sat there, wishing she could push herself through the wall and to the other side. Her body was trembling, her breathing erratic, her eyes darting around as if she was trying to find something real; not the ghost in front of her.

Everything was amazing, perfect even, then it all changed. Kai glanced away from Ada and looked to see an unfamiliar face walking towards them with a face like thunder and an air of rage. Kai scowled as he watched him coming closer, his grip on Ada tightened instinctively. “Your wife? I’m sorry buddy, but you’ve got her mistaken for someone else. Her husband died years ago.” Kai stepped forward as Lawson grabbed hold of Ada’s arm.

If Kai wasn’t already concerned, Ada’s reaction definitely got his defences up. Growling deep in his throat, Kai began to step forward but before he could get too far Ashley stepped in between the two men and ran towards Ada. “Ada, babes, c’mon it’s me. Talk to me. Take breaths, deep breaths okay? Do it with me, one big breath then hold for three before releasing slowly. C’mon, you got this.” Ash kept her face between Ada and the scene before her.

Kai wasn’t having any of this. He starting walking towards where Marc was keeping Lawson out of the way with a cold, hard stare on his face and his jaw set in a harsh line but before he could get there, a woman that he’d never seen before stepped between them all. “Hi Lawson, you probably won’t remember me but I’m Jess Grimaldi. Look, you’re upsetting my cousin and as upset as you might be, there really isn’t any need to cause a scene like this in public. Especially in front of a lot of Ada’s old friends. C’mon, please come with me for a couple minutes. Ashley will get Ada calmed down and Marc will be able to help calm everyone else down, okay? Please follow me.” Jas held out a guiding hand to usher Lawson away from the unfolding scene.

Ash hadn't taken her eyes off of Ada once, but when she heard someone claiming to be Jess Grimaldi, she looked around. No way was that one of Ada's cousins. Ash knew every single one of them and she was not one. Another problem for another time, her attention went back to Ada. Jas saw Ash glaring at her and she wondered if she even recognised her. Probably not. Kai rose an eyebrow at her claim too. He tried to remember a Jess Grimaldi from Ada’s family but couldn’t, but then again he hadn’t met absolutely everyone in her family before he had ended things with her ten years ago so it wasn’t entirely impossible. Kai shrugged and walked over to Ada again, squatting down beside her and began stroking her hair. “It’s okay Anela, I’m right here.”

Ash had to blink a couple of times to make sure what she was seeing was actually real. She was sure she had imagined it at the doorway but this was no joke. “What the actual hell has happened with you two? Am I seventeen again or something?” Ash was holding Ada’s hands within her own, squeezing them tightly to give her a grounding point in her world that had just erupted into chaos.

Kai rolled his eyes at Ash and continued to keep his right hand running over Ada’s hair while his left gripped lightly on her knee. “It really isn’t the time to talk about this just now, Ash. Later.” Ash nodded but chewed the inside of her cheek in irritation. She hated being told not to ask questions, particularly when there were so fucking many of them that she had to ask! Ada and Kai had a lot of explaining to do.

Riley looked over her shoulder a Cynthia for a moment as she waving her hands around like some child and seeing the girl smiling at Lawson, then felt the woman wrapping her arms around her shoulders. This was certainly awkward for her, if Cynthia wasn't mentally crazy and normal Riley wouldn't have left the woman this close but she just simply shrugged it off and nodded at Cynthia. "Yep you are right." Riley said answering Cyn's question to what the smell of her conditioner she used was. Then Riley turned her attention back towards Lawson and then Kai and Ada.

Then the all to familiar scream she heard from her friend left Ada when she reacted to Simone's death, Riley quickly moved towards both her friends looking at Ashley and knelt down next to her. "Ada it's okay, just take a deep breath." Riley said gently rubbing Ada's shoulder and then looked over her shoulder at Lawson and gave him a slight frown she knew that it was probably not a reunion that he thought he would have. "Why don't we get a bit of fresh air." Riley suggested as she offered a hand for Ada she wanted to help calm her friend down anyway she could. She might have had the same reaction as well if she found out someone she was married to was killed and then somehow comes back to life.

Hye was glad she was hooking up with Jae for the night, the more the better because that means they can account for each other when anything happens to them which means that they can all stick together for better or for worse. Oh well, Hye was happy with the bastard casanova. Sighing softly she noticed Riley and she said she would also hook up with the two for the night. Which was just badass considering she was offered to go to the hotel room with Riley herself. Now it will be pretty amazing for the two to catch up, maybe grapple out some popcorn and pull in a movie night or something which will be amazing: just like the old times. What movie would they watch with Jae around though. Oh well, at least he's a flirter and NOT a groper.

Hye sighed when Cynthia said she wanted to join. But in a tactical decision she said yes, if she was indeed not the murderer then she will stay for the night, just in case someone else was murdered for the night. Of course it might backfire at her but she might actually be fun to hang out with now that she isn’t… stuck up??

“Eyyy”

“Don’t forget us, Hye!”

Hye looked to the side to find out that two familiar people were near her, holy crap; when did they enter?! “Ju?? Sanako?!” She gasped, she didn’t think she would see these two and she grinned. Dragging them nearer her and smiling softly she ruffled her own hair. Ju grinned and looked to Sanako.

“You missed me, 0 points!” Ju Blurted out

“Oh god” Hye sighed and shook her head chuckling, that was one of the worst jokes Ju pulled off. Sanako didn’t seem that impressed either and she crossed her arms.

“We overheard you were bunkin everyone up, got room for two more??” Sanako asked curiously, this made Hye count up to how many people there was now and she had to think tactics. “Me, Jae, Cynthia, Riley and you two… hmm… six people. I am sure I have enough space in my house” she told the two and she grinned “I can squeeze in two more”

During the planning, she seen more commotion happening and she stood there gob smacked. According from what she overheard, Ada was scared shitless of him, but that is all she can get from it. She needed some distraction to cool off the air a bit. But she didn’t know what to do. So while biting her lower lip she watched Riley run over to Ada, then she put on some music before spinning around gracefully and walking over to Cynthia to explain what was going to happen “Ok so we have Jae, Sanako and Ju joining us. I am going to get everyone shopping soon so we can buy snacks and such for the sleepover” She might as well call it sleepover because of how many people are joining in “Is that okay??” She had to make sure she was so she didn’t go batshit crazy by something expecting happening.

Marc & Lawson

Lawson pushed Marc off him and shoved him back slightly, still trying to get around his old friend to get to Ada. He just needed to explain things to her. He could see she was terrified and it was not how he wanted to start things off with her but right now all he saw was a man standing between him and his Bella; the very man he knew had caused her so much pain over the years because of one thing he did. He knew the scars she held, he knew it all. Ada had spoken to him about it, about the guilt that wracked her over everything. Now she was pleading for the man that was the source of every tear he had seen her shed. It made his blood boil and the Marine wanted to drag him out behind the gym and give him a good old fashion lesson in manners.

"Get off me Tinder! You know the hell that man has put her through!" he bellowed as Marc shoved him back again. His fists balling up at his sides as he stood there; his shoulders rising and falling with each ragged angered breath he drew. Marc got up to him, nose to nose.

"Stand down!" Marc ordered as if he was Drill Sergent. It seemed so unlike Marc to those that knew him back in high school. Back then he was so shy and timid; he never stood up to anyone and now here he was toe to toe with a man that had to out weigh him by a good fifty pounds of pure unadulterated muscle without even flinching. His steel blue eyes were staring down the Marine, his jaw line fixed.

"Not now Tinder," Lawson barked and took a half step forward but Marc just stood his ground.

"I said stand down Marine!" Marc countered with even more force than before. The order made Lawson straighten up at the shoulders and set his glare towards Marc.

"Is that an order?" Lawson grunted.

"What do you think Gunny?" Tinder took a deep breath and looked away for a moment, seeing his Bella still sitting on the floor as Ashley rushed to her side to try to calm her.

"Yes sir," Lawson growled as if acid was dripping from his lips.

As Jas came over and introduced herself as Ada's cousin both men gave her an incredulous look. Lawson had met most of Ada's family at the wedding but there were some that couldn't attend. Maybe she was one of them? Marc on the other hand knew Ada's entire family and knew without a doubt that the woman introducing herself as Jess was anything but a Grimaldi; yet he was willing to play along if it got Lawson out of there long enough to keep Ada from becoming the next admittance to Shadey Pines.

"Thank you Jess," Marc said and motioned for Lawson to go with her.

"After everything she has been through how can you dare let him within a hundred miles of her," Lawson hissed towards Marc as he glowered towards Kai before letting Jas usher him to the back of the gym. He would not go any further. He refused to let her completely out of his sight now. In a bit of a huff he sat down at the end of the bleachers and ran his hands through his hair, smoothing the blonde waves back and tried to calm himself. After a moment he looked up at Jas and shook his head. "I am sorry for my outburst Ma'am."

Marc let out a breath of relief as Lawson went off with Jas, turning his attention back over to Ada, Ash and, Kai. He couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Ada just sat there trembling, the look on her features was one that was plagued with confusion and fear. She was terrified of what she had just seen, a man whom she had been told was dead so many years ago just waltzed back into her life. She felt as if she was trapped in some type of nightmare and she just wished she could wake from it. As Ashley took her hand her glistening eyes slowly looked over to her best friend, she could only nod in short quick bursts as a reply. Words seemed to leave her right then as she thought back to five years ago.

The memories were as clear as crystal right then. The government sending someone to inform her that her husband had died over seas. There had been a funeral service at Arlington Cemetery, a flag draped over an empty casket. She was told there was not enough remains for anything more. There had been a Twenty-One Gun Salute, the flag was folded and handed to her as the widow of a fallen Marine. She had a death certificate at home in her files, along with the blast ridden remains of his dog tags and her wedding ring. She had received death benefits for the love of God. He was dead, he was gone. How could he be standing in front of her now as Marc prepared to fight the man to keep him away.

Ada just sat there nodding from time to time as he bit her bottom lip until Kai came back over to her. As his hand fell to her hair and she heard his words she slowly seemed to come out of the fog of terror she had been trapped since her eyes fell on the dead man walking. Her eyes sought out his and she wouldn't look away once she found them. Taking some very long, deep breath she pulled one of her hands away from Ash as she rested her brow against his arm; gripping his hand on her knee as if she was afraid to let go. She felt Riley's hand on her back, it helped some. She was very thankful for both her and Ash being there for her and knew they were trying. It seemed though that Kai was the only one that was really getting through the panic she felt.

"Don't leave me Makana, please..." she whispered as she closed her eyes and tried to calm herself more; just letting herself focus on his touch and his closeness. She wished they hadn't come back to the gym, that they had just said fuck it and remained in each others arms on the floor of her bedroom. Slowly it dawned on her that Ashley had asked what had happened between the two. She wasn't exactly sure how to explain it, it was still sinking in. All she could manage to say was, "What should have happened ten years ago."

Slowly she lifted her head and glanced around, seeing Dj had finally gone and had a seat at the back of the gym. She still was having a hard time processing that he was back from the dead. It wasn't that she wished he was still dead. He was a good man and she knew that, but for him to come back right then as he did. Why now? What had happened? She knew they were questions she would need answers to. Looking over to Kai she felt as bad for him as she did for Dj right then. Here he was, having looked so happy just a few minutes before and now he was having to stand between her and the ghost of her husband. It wasn't fair. Not to Kai or to Dj; and she was the cause of it. The guilt gleamed clearly in her dark eyes.

"Yeah, air would be nice, I feel like I can't breath," she said as she sat there still trying to stop hyperventilating. "Ash... um would you grab my shoe box? I need the ace bandage out of it," she asked nervously before looking back at Kai. "Gonna need some help until we can wrap it," she said, in her fit she had managed to make the sprain a bit worse and it was blacking up quickly. There was no way she was going to be able to hobble about until it was wrapped up.

The people that had been hired to cater the mixer and tend to the bar that night had frozen in place, along with the rest of the class of 2006; they just stood there watching in shock and awe as the event unfolded. Some just shrugged it off and went back to their little groups of gossip as if they were still Seniors. Others couldn't help to make comments about the situation.

Chris Malony just stood there with the camera on this phone rolling; filming every last detail of the event until Principle Crimson stopped him. "Put that away son, this isn't for the net," he scolded his former student. Chris rolled his eyes as he turned off the recording. He had gotten most of it anyways. Crimson just shook his head as he walked off.

Nesha just smirked as she stepped over towards Chris. "Always so dramatic," she snipped as eyed Ada and Kai. Turning she walked off towards the bar to get a cocktail and Chris gave her a bit of a look before stepping outside. Zack was sitting in one of the chairs and got up, adjusting his jacket a bit before he took off after Chris; wanting to see what the man recorded.

"Not exactly a warm family reunion is it?"

"Think she would be happy her husband it back."

"Oh she always did go gaga over Kai."

"Well if she doesn't want him, I'll take him."

"Has everyone forgot Jessica was murdered?"

The comments kept coming from various people in the class. Some quietly, some not so much. Marc could only stand there rubbing his temples as his phone went off; it was Tim. Maybe the man had an update.

Cynthia stood there watching the scene unfold. They could really use some popcorn right then. This was a show! Marc and Dj nearly tore into each other, Ada was flipping out like Cyn normally did. Well, not so much. Had that been Cyn in Ada's place it would have probably turned into another beautiful picture, but hey, she was freaking out. Cynthia could relate on more than one level. She had done so after she had first been locked up. She was sane back then and being around all the insanity at Shady Pines got to her quickly. She was so used to being the one pushing others peoples buttons. When she was finally around those that could easily see through her bitchness to what lay beneath she broke quickly. It took nearly five years for her to become one of the stronger ones; granted by then she was clinically insane.

"Remind you of the home? Yeah it does, poor girl. Hey, poor you! Poor me? Yeah, poor you, you were the one that was locked up, she is still free! I don't think it is that simple. What do you mean? Well she obviously loves Kai and now her husband is back, she is in cage. Her own making. No, she thought she was free. Don't we all feel that way? Yeah, I guess we do. Think she will be free one day? I doubt it, Ada will never let herself be free. What? You know what I mean. No I don't. If I know what I mean then you know what I mean. Do you even know what you mean? I don't know. See. Shut up. You shut up!" Cynthia said rambling to herself, not even noticing that Riley had left her side to go tend to Ada.

That was until Hye stepped over and got her attention. Looking at her she tilted her head to the side as if she was bird; it wasn't clear at first if she was about to try to eat the woman like she was a worm or just listening. The more Hye spoke though, the clearer it became that she was just listening. A smile coming over her lips, not a crazy smile, just a sweet one.

"Yes, yes! We need popcorn! And soda! And chocolate! And gummy bears! Yeah, gummy bears! You have to eat their heads first you know. If you don't and eat their legs first it puts them in pain. That isn't nice. Unless it is the green ones, they are meanies! You have to let them suffer for a little bit but the rest, just put them out of their misery. Oh snow caps! And um twix! Cookie crunch! Can we get some gummy bears and twix? And some of those capri sun pouches?"

Jae sighed softly as he looked around, so many people he remembered and so many memories flashing back to him, but at least most of them have flashed by for now. Announcing that he wanted to join the bunk up with Hye he sighed. He couldn’t have the place in ribbons, so he had a plan. He got out his phone, walked away from the others and called some people up to announce his plans to certain people. He couldn’t have anyone getting into Hye’s house and force them into genocide or some other stupid shit.

ring ring...

“Yo, we have some issue and we may need some backup. I will give you the rest of the deets later but right now me and my buddies are in the deepest shit you have ever even swam in. Fucking honestly.”

“Geeeeeee, boss you seem pissed off.”

“Urm, no. You are wrong as the fat controller would always say. Anyways I will give you the rest of the deets later as I said, but right now I need guards at a certain house.”

“G-guards?! What shit are you trying to pull boss?!”

“I am not pulling shit! Just get your ass in gear, we have stuff to sort out.”

“Yes boss, will alert everyone”

call ends

Getting back to the group he noticed two very familiar people and he overheard that they were going to bunk up with him, he also seen Cynthia asking to join in. Oh no. This was not going to go down if Cynthia was there. Then the incident with a dude and Adelaide went tits-up with everything, shaking in complete fear and she even screamed. He sighed and watched the scene unfold. Watching Riley run off towards them and then watching Hye walk up to Cynthia, rabbiting on about snacks and such.

“How unexpected” he notioned “I call that we get poptarts, bitches love poptarts.”

The female that looked familiar looked even more depressed after his comment. Well, she already looked unimpressed but now she just looked ashamed from Jae’s comment.

“This is gonna go down well” she shook her head.

“Ohhh… Hi Sanako! And Ju! Well then you both have changed. How’s everything?” He tried to change the subject but he doesn’t seem to have done it well.

Ash’s head whipped around as she heard Marc actually raising his voice. That… Was this the same guy that she had known in high school? He definitely looked different, but Ash could still see the gentle kindness behind his newly rugged exterior. They may not have kept in close contact since graduation but she had seen his physical transformation at various gatherings so it wasn’t so much of a shock for her. How he was acting now however, was an entirely different matter. Ash kind of liked it. When she realised what she was thinking, her eyes widened and she turned to look to Ada once again after she watched “Jess” leading Lawson away.

These thoughts were something to be processed at a less… inopportune time, Ash decided. They could definitely wait.

Jas was happy that she’d done something productive and she led Lawson to the back of the gym hall. She gave him a small, understanding smile and sat down beside him as he apologised to her. “You have nothing to apologise for. I… can’t even begin to imagine what you’ve been through in the past five years.” Jas looked away from him, staring towards the happenings on the other side of the hall. She wanted to be there and help Ada but she knew that this was the best help that she could provide for now. Glancing over to Lawson again, Jas studied his face and saw the anger, frustration and worry etched into every part of it. Poor guy.

“She just needs time to process.” She genuinely meant her words but she figured they’d just be white noise to him just now. She let out a small, gentle sigh and clasped her hands in her lap as she tried to hear what was going on at the other side of the hall.

Ash gently released Ada’s hand when she felt Ada pulling it away and she watched as Kai continued stroking Ada’s hair and let his thumb run over the back of her hand as she held onto his at her knee. Ada’s grip worried Kai even more than her reaction just now. Kai needed a lot of answers from Ada about her life between then and now but he didn’t feel like he was entitled to anything from her. Especially after what he had done. This Lawson was right; he had caused her so much pain but he had vowed to never hurt her again after that day if he could help it. Well this time he could help it so he wasn’t going to abandon her again just because some guy came waltzing in and told him to. “I’m not going anywhere. Not this time, Anela.”

Ash could only gawk at the scene before her. This was all too bizarre and she couldn’t really take much more of it so when Ada asked her to grab her shoebox she was happy to. Ash looked to Riley and smiled before patting her lightly on the shoulder. “Do me a favour and make sure those two don’t wander off again please. That is the last thing we need right now.”

He smiled as he continued to look into Ada’s eyes. He had definitely missed those tiny golden flecks in her irises, they were so beautiful. Gathering his senses again as Ada spoke. Ash rose Ada’s hand that she held and quickly kissed it before nodding to her request. Ash darted off for the shoebox. “Of course. C’mere.” Kai slipped an arm under her knees and behind her back, letting her arms drape around his neck as he lifted her off of the ground.

Turning to see Ash walking over with the shoebox in hand, Kai smiled to Riley and made his way over to the doors leading outside. “Do you mind getting the door for us, Riley?” He’d give Riley a proper greeting once things had calmed down a little, he realised he’d not spoken to anyone since arriving and felt a pang of guilt for being so rude. His stomach began to knot some as he realised that he hadn’t had a proper hit since last night considering that Ada had squashed his earlier attempts of smoking. He’d need to find a moment to calm his nerves considering everything that was going down today so far. It was clearly only going to get worse.

Before heading out with Kai, Ada and Riley; Ash made her way towards Marc. "Hey, thanks for getting Lawson to calm down. We're just going out to get Ada some air, she really needs it. I'm going to wrap her ankle up, it's pretty badly sprained from the looks of it. I'll keep you updated with calls and texts while we're outside, so don't worry. I'll get some answers too... somehow." She shook her head and sighed before looking over to DJ and giving him a sad smile and a wave. Her voice rose in volume to shout over to him. "She just needs some air. We'll be right back, I promise DJ." She patted Marc on the shoulder before heading to the door where Kai was holding Ada.

Riley looked over her shoulder seeing and hearing Marc's voice raising and telling David to stand down like he was some sort of lieutenant ordering a lower ranking soldier which she had never seen him do in the years that she knew him in high school. She did feel bad for David and knew he wanted to talk to her, they both needed some time to calm down. She quickly turned her attention towards Ashley and smiled giving her a quick nod when Ada asked to get her shoe box. "Don't worry Ash i'll make sure they wont get down and dirty while you aren't looking." Riley said jokingly and laughed before turning her attention back towards Kai and Ada. She certainly would like some answers as well since she remembered the two weren't together or talked to one another since they broke up ten years ago.

When Ashley came back with the shoe box Riley stood up and looked towards Kai as he asked her to open up the door for them, she noticed some more of the class of 2006 starting to come in as well. "Sure thing Kai." Riley quickly turned around and opened the door to the gym for her friends then turned towards Cyn, Jae and Hye. "I'll be back just tell me when we are gonna have our sleep over okay?" Riley asked as she held the door open for both Kai, Ada and Ashley.

Once they were outside and the door had shut itself Riley turned her attention towards both Kai and Ada she was really curious as to what was going on now. "So, what the hell is going on between the two of you? Last I saw you weren't together and pretty much answered how you two have been last I saw you guys together." Riley quickly turned to look at Kai and smiled and gave him a quick hug and a playful punch on the shoulder. "How have you been by the way Kai?"

"Yeah, please do. I want to know what the hell happened," Marc said as he covered up his phone while he spoke to Ashley before returning to the call. He stood there for a minute before looking over at Lawson and then back over at the door as the group stepped out so that Ada could get a bit of air. Running his free hand through his hair he told Tim to hold on for a second. Whatever the man was saying he didn't want others to hear it. Stepping out quickly he nodded towards Ashley, Ada, Kai, and Riley as he stepped passed them and walked over to his car. Leaning against it he got a bit of a irked look on his features.

"Tim, take a breath, okay good, continue."

Taking a breath he covered his mouth, giving the occasional yup, okay and hrm into the phone. He looked back over to the group and then turned his back to them as he propped his elbows up on the back of his car. Whatever was going on seemed serious from the way he was acting.

"I don't see how that would help. The more they stay divided up the more of a target people are. We need to keep them in groups as much as possible. I need to see how they act around each other. No, no need. I have already informed them about Jessica. I wanted to confront the issue before it hit the feeds on their phones. You know how this town is. Soon as something happens it will reach the outskirts of the county before we even get to examine anything. Right, yes, keep me posted. I will be in later on after I am sure others are in for the evening. Okay, talk to you soon," he said before hanging up.

He nearly chucked his phone across the concrete but stopped himself. Shoving his phone back into his pocket he straightened out his vest and took a long breath before turning around and looking back over to them. "When you all are done out here, please come back into the gym. We need to speak," he said calmly before walking back into the gym and leaving Ashley to figure out what was going on with Ada and Kai. He was curious but he couldn't stand there and drill them himself. Though he did have plans to pull Kai aside later and have a little talk with him.

Lawson looked up from the floor and growled under his breath as Kai picked up Ada in his arms and carried her outside. He was more than obvious on his face that he did not like the idea. The only reason he held still was because Ashley said she was going. He figured at least with Ash there along with them it wouldn't get too touchy feel. At least he hoped it wouldn't. Grumbling he sat back down and looked over towards this Jess person.

"He should be no where near her, ever! He doesn't deserve to be within a hundred feet of her. Even if she wasn't my wife I wouldn't want him near her," he said before letting out a huff and shaking his head.

"Sorry again ma'am," he said as he looked over towards Jess. He didn't mean to be blowing up at the woman but he found he couldn't help himself when it came to his Bella. Taking a few long breaths, he tried to force himself to calm down.

"So, is it Miss or Missus? You'll have to forgive me but I just don't remember you. Blame it on this jarhead but honestly, I doubt I would have forgotten someone as beautiful as you. Are you and Ada close? I don't remember you at the wedding," Lawson said, trying to change the subject but it was clear that he was just trying to be polite at that point. His eyes kept wandering to the door, waiting for his wife to come back through them.

Ada's arms wrapped around Kai's shoulders as he picked her up, curling her body close to his. She was still in shock over the entire ordeal but being there with him helped; being so close to him helped more than she would ever admit to Lawson. She felt bad for him and she knew she needed to speak to him but she just couldn't yet. Not after the way she reacted. She had so many questions but it seemed that everyone else had questions as well. Looking over towards Lawson as she was carried out of the gym she groaned inwardly. This was turning into a complete clusterfuck.

As Kai carried her outside she pointed over to the picnic tables and waited for him to set her down. Once he had she sat there, keeping her foot up a bit but pulling him over to sit down next to her and leaning against him; still clinging to him. Looking over towards Ash and Riley she bit her bottom lip slightly. She had a lot to answer for. Taking a deep breath, she figured she might as well get it over with. Maybe getting it off her chest would make it easier to speak to her "husband." Husband... God, how was she going to face him. After what had just happened with her and Kai? She was finally back with the man she had loved all these years. She thought her husband was dead. What the fuck was she going to do.

Straightening up some she swallowed hard. "I... I know... I wasn't expecting it either. We saw each other and well, we got into a fight. Kind of. It wasn't really a fight but before I knew it he had slung me over his shoulders and carted me off to the parking lot. Well, um after that we ended up at my parents. Don't ask. It just kind of happened," she said nervously as she looked down ant picked as some fluff on her pants. Shaking her head she looked over towards Ash and gave her this look that could only be described as well you can guess what happened then, Ada blushing as she remembered the way that Kai had kissed her; how he tasted, how she felt in his arms, the tears, everything.

"Listen, Kai and I both screwed up years ago and you know as well as anyone I never stopped loving him," Ada said to Ash. She knew Ash knew how she felt about Kai, she had said it more than once and after her break down at her own wedding, everything came out. "Well um, seems he never did either," Ada said as she laced her fingers with his and gazed up to Kai the way she used to. Reaching up she caressed his cheek softly. Those eyes of his pierced her as they always had, sending a shiver running down her spine.

"Kai, I swear, I didn't know he was alive. There was a funeral, I have his death certificate. It was five years ago. This is the first time I have laid eyes on the man since before he left for the middle east the last time, that was so long ago. I'm sorry.... I promise, I never loved him, I told you that. I just don't want to lose you now. God, what am I going do to?" she asked as a few tears slipped from her eyes and rolled down her cheeks. She looked over towards Ashley and Riley. "What the hell am I supposed to do?"

Ash was uncharacteristically silent as they walked outside. She eyed Kai carrying Ada like he used to do all those years ago. Something wasn’t sitting right with her about all of this. She could feel something wrong in the back of her mind that she couldn’t quite place. She’d get her answers and then decide if she was just being overly cautious and was just in shock at finding her two closest friends back together as a couple after all this time.

Being careful and gentle with Ada, Kai carried her over to her desired resting spot by the benches as instructed. He smiled down to her and kissed the top of her head before he sat her down carefully on the seat. He sat down and let her cuddle up to him, his arm hooking around her shoulders to hold her close to him. He scratched his beard and looked back to the door of the gym hall. A frown formed on his face as he was in thought, right until the moment that Riley hugged him then gave him a gentle punch on the arm and began asking her questions.

Ada stepped up first and began answering Riley’s questions. Kai smiled softly as she spoke, a content little look blooming on his face as his eyes drifted closed slightly while listening to her. As he closed his eyes, he saw the angry face of Ada’s spouse that had returned from the dead and his eyes snapped open. He was inside the building in front of them all, probably anxiously awaiting Ada to return inside. He glanced down at his arm around Ada and thought about this man doing the same loving things to her as he was now and his stomach knotted into rage and despair.

Ash let her eyes travel from Ada to Kai as Ada answered Riley’s question. She saw Kai’s face and she realised that he was in a state of confusion. She worried for them both, now even more than she had moments before DJ had entered the gym hall shouting to Marc. She placed the shoebox down beside Ada as she began to speak to her, before stepping back and crossing her arms. She was mad at them both and she wasn’t sure why exactly. “I know that.” Her short sentence held an unspoken message that both Kai and Ada would know. Ash was not happy with this arrangement.

She took a small breath and turned as she saw Marc heading past them on the phone still. She watched Marc as Ada’s attentions turned fully towards Kai for the moment. Marc looked harassed. Very harassed. She let her gaze stay on him longer than she usually would have but she was more curious about him since she had seen him standing up to DJ earlier. She and Marc had always got along well enough after high school and, considering their romantic past, they were on very friendly terms all things considered. She’d have to ask him if he was alright later because she could practically feel the tension in his shoulders. Not that she expected him to open up, but she might as well offer her ear if he needed one to nip.

His eyes wandered down to Ada as she looked up to him, his hand caressed and gripped hers tightly as she slipped her fingers between his and his smile widened as she caressed his cheek. He rose his hand up with hers within it and kissed the back of her hand before resting it down on his thigh again. “I believe you didn’t know. You’re not one to go back on your word, I know that,” He took a deep, calming breath before he could speak his next words. He really wanted to smoke some MayJane but knew that Ada would kill him for even thinking it. “and that is exactly why you need to speak to him. He is your husband and those vows mean something, as does your word. He isn’t dead, that much is clear.”

His empty hand balled up into a fist on his thigh as he spoke. This was harder than he expected. “You may never have been in love with him, but he is most definitely in love with you. He deserves some answers and closure, the same way that I owed you some answers and closure for all these years. Don’t put him through what you’ve been through. No one should go through that.”

When he was done, he took a deep breath again and kissed Ada on her temple before hugging her tightly to him. Ash stopped watching Marc when she heard Kai telling Ada to talk to DJ. She hadn’t expected him to do that, she thought he would keep her huddled away all to himself for a while longer at the very least. Ash chewed on her lower lip before she relaxed her stance and walked back over to Ada as the poor woman sat there crying to her and Riley as she sat in the arms of Kai.

“Adsi, you know what you need to do. You don’t need us to tell you.” She gripped her knee gently and gave it a light squeeze before reaching back over for the shoebox and digging through it to find the bandage that Ada needed for her ankle. “We’ll get some ice on that from the bar once you’re back inside. DJ isn’t going to hurt you, so don’t freak out on him again, okay?” She crouched down in her heels and tight, little dress and set to work. Thankfully she was wearing mini shorts beneath the dress to keep her modesty as the night drew onwards. She never knew when the paparazzi would show up to hound her.

Kai and Ash both looked to Marc as he walked back over to them and began to speak to them all. “We’ll come back inside in a sec. Just getting Ada’s ankle wrapped up now.” She nodded towards the blackened and swollen limb in her hands and gave a tiny smile to Marc before busying herself with the wrapping again. Satisfied that it was tight enough, Ash stood back up and smoothed her dress down. “Okay, you should be good. We should really go back inside now like Marc asked, but don’t think you two are off the hook so easily.”

Nodding to Ash, Kai gently lifted Ada onto his lap to get a decent grip on her without hurting her. Carrying her like he had before, Kai’s mind drifted to the fact that this carrying arrangement was exactly like carrying a new bride over the threshold. He stopped mid-step before shaking his head and adjusting his grip on his Anela. “Oops, stood on a stone.” He continued on and made his way back to the gym hall doors. He’d be putting Ada down as soon as he physically could once they were inside. He may have wanted to floor Ada’s husband when he was causing her so much distress earlier but he felt awful for the poor man now.

Ash ran ahead of them to grab the door; she’d noticed Kai hesitating but didn’t think it the right time to question him. She’d steal him once Ada was busy talking to DJ because come hell or high water, that woman was talking to her newly resurrected husband whether she liked it or not. Gripping the door handle, Ash let Kai carry Ada through but she stopped Riley with a quick hand on her shoulder. “I know they didn’t give a lot of details or answers out there but let’s try not to question them too much right now. Ada is dealing with a lot right now and Kai seems out of it. Best not to push them too far, y’know?” She quickly grabbed Riley and gave her a hug. "It's good to see you. Let's head inside." Ash let Riley go inside before following her and closing the door behind herself.

Jas remained silent as Lawson had his small outburst. She completely understood where he was coming from, she’d been through the loss of a spouse to the heart of another. It was a difficult pain to process and she knew there were many more lashing outs to come. She took a breath and smiled at Lawson as he apologised again.

“Like I said, you’ve nothing to apologise for. I can understand what you’re going through all too well…” She looked towards the doors as they closed over and she sighed.

Turning as Lawson began to ask her questions, she knew he was just being polite but to help him perhaps keep his mind off of what was going on outside she would oblige him. “It’s miss now, formerly married, now divorced. It was a pretty messy end. It’s quite alright if you don’t remember me, Mr Lawson, and thank you for the compliment. I did not attend your wedding unfortunately as I work as a corporate lawyer in NYC so couldn’t get the time off. We’re relatively close but nothing excessive.” The doors opened to the hall and Jas looked over expecting to see the group returning only to see that Marc was re-entering, she hadn’t actually seen him leaving. That man had become an efficient ninja apparently. She felt bad lying to Lawson who was going through so much so considering her little joke with Ada was pretty much a moot point now, Jas decided to come clean. At least to Lawson.

“I have to be honest, Mr Lawson. I’m not actually Ada’s cousin, I’m an old friend of hers from this school. We were planning on playing a prank on everyone that used to treat me poorly ten years ago but considering the current situation it seems pretty ridiculous now in hindsight.” She tucked her hair behind her ears and shrugged her bare shoulders as her fingers smoothed her dress down. “I completely understand if you’d like for me to leave you alone. I can even go check and see if Ada is ready to speak with you?”

Just as she was done asking her question, the doors opened and the group re-entered the hall. Jas clasped her hands together in her lap and waited to see what would happen next.

Adelaide & Lawson

Location: Grimm High School - Outside
Interacting With: Each Other; Marc; Jess, Ashley; Kai

"Well that explains it," Lawson chuckled a bit as he sat there. "I say you keep it up, seems this place could use a bit of a happy joke instead of everythang going on," he said in a kind voice before looking over towards the door as he saw it open. He rose from his place, his eyes falling over his Bella. He hated seeing Kai next to her. Looking back at Jas he nodded at her. "Thank ya for the company ma'am. Hope we can talk later. Right now, I think I need to take care of this," he said excusing himself as he began to walk towards Ada.

He kept his eyes on Ada, knowing if he looked at Kai the rage would build again and he would end up decking the man. After seeing how Ada reacted when he first showed up he decided that wasn't the best idea. Granted Marc was watching him closely, following him slowly as Lawson seemed to stalk his way towards Ada. He didn't want a fight breaking out in the middle of the gym between his two best friends but he knew the woman that was between the two would be the cause of it. Marc felt bad for Lawson and for Kai, most of all he felt bad for Ada. She was in the middle of something she never expected.

Ada stood there as Kai set her down, she could feel her heart beating a hundred miles an hour as she watched Lawson come over to her. She swallowed hard. Lawson kept his eyes on Ada and looked down at her ankle all wrapped up. Reaching down he scooped her effortlessly into her arms. "Excuse us," was all he said as he turned his back to the door. Glaring towards Kai for a moment before he carried his wife outside so that they could talk. Ada just kind of rested there in his arms as he did, she didn't curl up to him like she did with Kai. She didn't want to be in his arms and her face showed it. She looked as miserable right then as she had the day of her wedding after they had been pronounced man and wife. The look she gave Kai as she was carried out the door was the same one she had given Ashley when her bouquet was handed back over to her. This was never the life she wanted, this was the life she had settled for.

Marc shook his head a bit as the doors closed and stepped over towards Kai, Ashley and Riley. Taking a deep breath he placed his hands on his hips as he stared at Kai. "Alright bro, I think we need to have a little talk. Ashley, you want in on this?" he asked her as he crossed his arms over his chest. It was more than obvious that Marc was anything but happy right then. He had had this tone with Kai before and it was not good.

Outside Lawson carried Ada over to his truck and kicked the tail gate down. Reaching over he pulled a blanket over the end of it before setting her down. Ada still hadn't said anything. She wasn't exactly sure what to say to the dead man walking. Lawson took a deep breath as he looked at her. She looked so depressed right then and it stung his heart. Reaching over he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him. Pressing her ear to his chest, his heart beating strong beneath the breast plate. "Hear that Bella? It's only beatin' cause of you. You kept me alive all these years, thoughts of you and your beautiful face," he said softly as he kissed the top of her head. Ada closed her eyes and slowly pushed away from him, Lawson felt like the world became empty as his Bella left his arms.

"Don't say things like that," she said quietly as she looked down at the ground between his boots. "Why not, it's true." Ada shook her head, slowly looking up and off to the parking lot, she could see Kai's truck and all she wanted to do was run to it. "How are you alive?" she finally asked. Lawson reached up and brushed her hair back so he could see her face; tucking the chocolate locks behind her ear. She was so beautiful, just as beautiful as the day he met her.

"I was captured. I was a hostage for insurgents for four years," he told her. Ada sighed softly as he explained his imprisonment. The torture and interrogation. He didn't tell her just how bad it was but he told her enough to understand. He told her about how he kept the picture of her and his wedding ring, how his thoughts would go to her in the middle of everything. How he clung to remembering who she smelt, how she felt, how she looked to get through everything.

"So where have you been over the last year? Why come back now?" she asked as she looked back over to him. Why did he have to wait for now? Then he explained about the rehabilitation, the counseling, and the debriefing he had to go through before they would let him leave. "I ain't even spoke to Ma yet. I had to come to my Bella first."

"Don't call me that," she said as she looked back down.

"Ada please, can we just go home and try to pick up the pieces?" he asked her as he reached out and caressed her cheek softly in his calloused hands. Ada leaned back and pushed his hand back. "You want to go back to him don't you?" Ada didn't answer but the look on her face was all the answer he needed. "Even after all the pain he caused you? After everything you lost because of him!" he growled as he reached over and ran his fingers along the scars on her back. Ada's eyes narrowed and before she knew it her fist had balled up and connected with his jaw. His head whipped to the side and he reached up to rub his chin slightly as he glared at her.

"That wasn't his fault! Don't you ever blame him for that!" she shouted as she shook her hand out, god damn the man had a hard jaw.

"Damn it woman! Why do ya constantly defend him? Just because you love him don't mean he has any feelins' for ya does it? Why you keep fighting to be with someone you know don't love you?" he asked as he flung his hands up in the air.

"In the words of your people... 'Well ain't that the damn pot callin' the kettle black!'" she spat back at him and he froze for a minute, not exactly sure how to retort to that. She had struck truth in her words. He was fighting to keep her in his life and he knew she didn't love him. He had always known. Hell when they had been married he didn't love her either. They just did what was expected of each other by their families. Shaking off the thought he growled a bit under his breath and rolled his shoulders back.

"Don't even try that Marine shit with me Dj, you know that never intimidated me," she warned him as she crossed her arms over her chest. Lawson smiled slightly and nodded. "I know, you were never scared of nothing were you? Strongest woman I ever knew next to Ma. But Ada, this ain't the same. You can't be with this man. Fine, don't be with me but please don't go crawling back to him. He crushed you. You really want to go through that again? Have him turn and walk back outta yer life? Ada, yer better than that. Come on, just come home with me. We will figure this out, together."

Ada shook her head. "He made a mistake. He does love me," she said as she thought back to everything that had happened that day and she felt the blush rise in her cheeks as she thought about being in his arms after all this time. Lawson kicked at the ground, knocking a rock across the parking lot. "Ada, please. When a man loves a woman he doesn't push her away. He keeps her as close as he can no matter what."

"Even if that means keeping her against her will?" she said flatly. Lawson took a deep breath, he was letting his anger get the better of him. He didn't want it to but after everything he had been through only to come back and see his wife in the arms of another was a bit much even for him.

"Listen, I went through hell to get back to you! I hung on because of you!" he began before he tore into a rant about how she owed him for coming back, that she was his wife, that she had to try for him because of everything he had been through. Ada just got angrier and angrier as he spoke.

"How dare you! It sucks that you went through all that but it wasn't my fault! I didn't make you a marine. I wasn't the one that signed you up for another tour of duty. In fact if I remember correctly I begged you not to go! I begged you to stay, not to put yourself in that type of danger again! Remember what you said to me? I am a Marine first, a husband second. And now you want to guilt me into staying your wife? Fuck you! I shouldn't pay a debt a never created just because you guilt me into it! That isn't love!" she screamed at him. She was livid and Lawson knew it. He had never seen her go on like she did and it hurt, it cut deep. What made it so much worse was the salt of truth that was getting rubbed into the wounds. She was right. He had no right to guilt her like he was.

"Ada... I'm sorry, I..."" he said remorsefully as he looked down like a wounded puppy. "But I do love ya Bella. I don't want to see you get hurt by that man again. I know it done sound crazy but isn't a life with a man you know that loves you and would go through hell to be with you even if you don't love him be better than a life worrying he is gonna leave you again?" Looking back up at her slowly he ran his fingers through his hair.

"I'd rather take the chance," she admitted quickly. She would. A day of happiness with Kai was worth nearly anything to her. Lawson shook his head, he didn't like the idea, not one bit. "And how can you be sure you even love me really? Sure you hung onto thoughts of me to get through everything but maybe you just did that because it was simplest. It was something solid you had. You had a ring a picture. That doesn't mean you love me. It just means you found something to cling onto."

"Like you have clung to the thought of that Hawaiian all these years?" he countered with acid in his voice. Reaching out he grabbed her behind the head and pulled her close, pressing his lips to hers and kissing her deeply. Ada froze there in her place, her eyes wide open as he stole a taste of her lips. She didn't know what to do at first and then she suddenly pushed him away, hard. Looking at her he was in as much shock as she was. He was expecting her to fall into the kiss, he was expecting himself to. He was expecting his heart to race, for butterflies to flutter in his stomach, for something. He felt nothing when he kissed her.

"Don't ever do that again," she said quietly as she wiped the kiss away on the back of her sleeve. "I'm sorry.... I won't..." he said as he let her go and turned, sitting down on the edge of the truck. They both sat there in silence for the longest time. "Ada, what do I do now?" he asked her quietly.

Ada sighed as she leaned against him and rested her head on his shoulder. She felt bad for him, he didn't need all this but he needed to realize somethings as well. Right then she figured he had had enough of a reality check for the day. She knew she had. Even though she didn't love him, she did care for him. She always looked at him as a friend. They had gotten along well. They kind of understood each other in a weird way. Sure the marriage wasn't happy and lovey but it had been stable. It was more than many had.

"You start over Dj, you're strong and you'll get through this. You should go let your mother that you are okay. She was crushed at the funeral," Ada said as she looked over to him. Lawson shook his head. "Na, ma doesn't need to see me like this. I need time before I show up at her place. She need to see her boy strong, not broken."

"You aren't broken, you just are healing. It's a process. Why not stick around here? I know it sounds odd but I am here to talk if you want and well Marc is here. So is Ashley and Riley. You know them. They know what is going on. And they won't judge. But if you do stay, you gotta stop giving Kai that look you give right before you start a fight okay?" she said added quickly at the end. Lawson just looked up at the sky.

"I must be fuckin' crazier than Cynthia. But yeah I'll hang out a bit. But I ain't making no promises when it comes to that man. I see one tear come from yer eye and I'll go Marine on him," he said as he rested his hands back against the bed of the truth and leaned back a bit. Ada wasn't going to argue at that point, plus she doubted he would get the first swing. If Kai made her cry again she doubted she would hold back this time either.

"Go on, get inside and get a drink. Go talk to Jess or someone," she said as she slipped off the back of the truck.

"You mean the fake cousin?" he said and chuckled as Ada looked at him wide eyed. "Don't worry she told me it was a prank."

"Oh okay, well just don't blow her cover okay? She's earned this," Ada said and Lawson nodded as he slipped off the tailgate of the truck and pushed it shut. "Now, get in there, I'll be along in a minute," she said and Lawson hugged her quickly before walking off towards the gym. As he did he looked down at his wedding band, his finger running over it slowly before he slid it off. Ada was right, it was time for him to start over.

The moment Hye spoke to Cynthia she actually saw the woman being a reminiscent of a very innocent little child who has done absolutely nothing to harm anyone. The only difference being that she has harmed many people in high school with her words that had toxic meanings embedded into them over the years. She didn’t really know what to think of that prospect. Soon after Hye’s kind words, Cynthia started to speak as to what she actually wanted and she smiled greatly: even if she was slightly disturbed by the ladies interpretation of eating gummy bears. But ey, whatever floated the crazy lady’s boat.

“Ah. We can get most of them I am sure. We have a few people and I am sure a certain someone eats a lot” She turned her head and gestured herself over to Jae who seemed to be too busy with a phone call to even notice the other Korean’s jabs to his pride. “But that’s fine. We will have a good time! I am sure” She tried to smile the best as she could but she sighed softly, something didn’t feel right. But whether it was just the atmosphere of the place because of that happened, or because her gut was telling her to get the fuck away as soon as, she didn’t know. She eventually just put it down due to the atmospheric values the place endured. Which seemed a bit iffy.

Watching Jae finally speak up kinda spooked her a bit. She didn’t even know he was looming over the two until he mentioned his comment about pop tarts and that ‘bitches love pop tarts.’ “Oh my life Jae, please don’t” she sighed softly. She wondered what Cynthia had to say to this and she hoped that Cynthia wouldn’t say something innocently dark or creepy or whatever.

Riley sat down next to Ada and looked over towards her as she listened to her friend explain what had been going on between both her and Kai, which would explain why she had just randomly disappeared for the last couple of minutes she kind of smirked when Ada said he lifted her up over his shoulder. She looked up towards Ashley she could see the expression on her face that none of it really sat well with her friend, but it wasn't her problem David, Ada and Kai would have to work something out amongst themselves. But being a friend she would offer so help or advice or just be the shoulder to cry on if any of them had gotten upset. "Well i'm really glad for the two of you, but like Kai said you have to talk to David about everything and be honest. That's what i'd do anyway if my dead spouse suddenly rose out of the grave." Riley said as she ran a hand through her hair and sighed softly.

As Ashley then started to wrap up Ada's sprained ankle she stood up and dusted herself off looking towards Marc for a moment he had been talking on the phone for quiet awhile and was curious who he was talking to. Riley started making her way back towards the gym with Ashley, Kai and Ada. But before she could enter the gym she felt Ashley's hand on her shoulder and gave her a quick nod. "Don't worry i'm not going to. I'll only do it if they bring it up, or if they need a shoulder to cry on." Riley said with a soft smile and gave Ashley a gentle pat on the shoulder.

"I'm gonna go and get a drink you guys, so if you need anything feel free to come and talk to me." Riley said and gave Marc a quick nod as she headed over towards the table and grabbed herself a cup and poured herself some punch. Riley silently watched as David got up from the bleachers and headed over towards Ada finally, it was going to be an interesting talk she thought. Riley made her way back over towards Cyn, Hye as well as Jae and smiled at her two friends as well as Cyn. "So whats up?" Riley asked them.
