So... "For women" means it's pink and inexplicably breaks or wears down thrice as fast. (Or perhaps I'm confusing sex icons with razor blades. But it's still pink.)

I personally also use female/male/intersex/hermaphrodite/nondistinct to strictly denote sex (physical) and man/woman/non-binary/genderfluid/bigender/agender/attack helicopter/other to strictly denote gender (identity).

Perhaps a listing of preferred pronouns would be better rather than just strictly gender? Just so we don't run into the issue of sex/gender/identity and the discussion that often follows them. Like she/her/hers, he/him/his, they/them/their and others like those. It may be less aesthetically pleasing than the current system now, but perhaps it would be a little bit more sensitive to non-cisgendered people.

I agree that being able to choose between the pronouns she/he/they, and having an "other" option with a little insert field (codewise functioning not unlike user titles?) would be the most inclusive, least likely to incite any debates, and probably the most relevant (as people most likely would be most interested in knowing what to refer to someone as - with nb/fluid, you won't exactly know). The "other" option would probably net you a few joke answers, but it's entirely your fault if people decide to take your joke answer seriously.

Yeah, adding a 4th "pencil it in" option seems like the best compromise between what we have now and Facebook's 50+ gender options.

I feel a little silly for wanting to suggest this, but I'll throw in my coins regardless.

How about a simple greeting system like Poke from Facebook? Except poking is an annoyance. Maybe "Send a Hello"? I mean, it just sounds really nice to wake up to a notification saying someone dropped by my profile to say hi without their needing to drop a VM.

(And it helps people rekindle faded relationships too, in case one dropped off for some time for unknown reasons, etc.)

tl;dr Simple "I dropped by to check on you" gesture. Subtle greeting system?

I get too many superfluous notifications as is...

It takes five to fifteen seconds for a VM. If you care enough to want to say hi, it isn't too much of an additional effort. A generic hello button is a bit too impersonal, and will probably end up being a typical annoy feature more than anything.

@Pair of Hearts It seems like the visitor-message system would still be ideal for that, like sending someone an emoticon like this: i.imgur.com/95Mi9XX.gifv if we had one.

Though the visitor-message system is probably the Guild's most neglected feature, hidden behind a tab, kinda crappy, and doesn't even notify you on replies. If people aren't "poking" via VM, it's mostly my fault for keeping the feature so underdeveloped and underutilized.

Eventually I'd like to kinda merge the user profile into a feed sort of thing like on Xenforo/vBulletin forums where visitor-messages are as casual as can be.

@Mahz
Xenforo is really fancy. But the simplicity here made me like the site as is now, so if it's superfluous, just scratch the suggestion off.

A feed will be convenient! Another tab on the profile to show "Recent Friend Activities" is nice too.

@Mahz Maybe a bit of a stupid point to make but it should be an easy fix:

a lot of bbcode features are currently missing from the cheatsheet. For example [h1]blabla[/h1] is mentioned but [sub]this[/sub] isn't. I didn't know of it's existence until I saw the raw version of someone who was using a different font. I was wondering how that was possible and it was because of the sub tag. Another one is strike which is weird because it has been in since, like, the start if I remember correctly.

Not too much of a glaring issue obviously but, as someone who enjoys the everlasting hell out of bbcoding posts and threads, these kind of additions to the cheatsheet would make me more aware of what I can use.

Another system suffering from such a neglect is could also be the image upload system. Yes, I'm well aware I've annoyed the Lord Admin about this in the past, but I feel like that a simple button somewhere visible would let more people use the feature or at least know about it.

This totally isn't because I'm one of those scrubs who uses a school-provided laptop that blocks all the good stuff and thus a majority of the pictures in posts >.>

@Mahz M'lord, may I be so bold as to inquire if GM's will gain the ability to delete posts in their threads? I have a lot of characters of people who have disappeared from my roleplay that are clogging the tab.

Post deletion has been discussed a few times before. I believe Mahz's stance is to not have any means to permanently delete posts, for safety. There has been thoughts about a feature to hide posts, at least in some kind of hider, which would probably satisfy your needs. There are mixed opinions as to whether such powers should be granted to GMs, though. Not sure what Mahz's opinion is on that.

Block user in the sense of "user can no longer send PMs or leave VMs to me" - yes.
Hiding all posts by said user - preferably not, that leads to some threads being horrible mangled messes (just imagine you two accidentally joining the same RP...). If someone is being disruptive on public forums, mods.

On another note - did this new forum ever have e-mail notifications? It appears some people in a RP I'm in appear to be missing those, which occasionally leads to some goose-hunts.

@Mahz I make a vm on someone else's profile but don't get a notification for when a reply appears on that message. Should there be a notification for it?

@Shienvien Only the vBulletin version of the Guild two years ago had email notifications. Sheepishly they aren't implemented yet on the new Guild.

@NuttsnBolts Thanks. Yeah, it's a problem I just found out about. The VM system needs some serious love.
