Inspired by this topic. I'm interested to see how many individuals decided to pitch their ideas that might be considered "weird" or "unique". So that being said, what kind of interesting Roleplays have you been in, RPG?

Well...

On old RPG I was briefly in an RP that was all about dolls. Yes, dolls. Players played dolls. It didn't last incredibly long, but I loved the concept and still do.

I've played a lot of interesting roleplaying games IRL. I've played as a Medic in the Vietnam War, except with ghosts and monsters from beyond the veil getting involved. I've played as a 12 year old witch in a team of kids investigating the paranormal (one of whom was a bully that beat up his own goddamned dad). I also was in a weird Gundam-style game where we were on a giant mothership heading for Earth except our Mothership had a whole level that was full of Medieval knights. Oh, and there was this one time I played a halfling Romani-themed mage that manipulated Fate and threw cards like Gambit. Good times, good times.

I'm running an RP right now called Masters of the Hidden Valley that's not weird on a theme level but IS weird on a mechanical level as an NRP. There's some player conflict, but everyone is technically on the same, and everyone wants their clan (they're all part of the same clan) to grow together, etc. Thus far, it's turned out pretty well, and I love how my players are adapting to the whole "Irish clan that follows tradition strictly" thing.

I once briefly convinced someone to let me play a talking sword in their tabletop RP online. That was fun. I want to do it again.

There was an interesting one that I put in interest on Oldguild. The premise was like...you got a laptop in the mail and it had a program and so did a bunch of others around the world and you would take turns caring for this virtual guy and if he died on your turn then you died in real life. I don't think it ever got off the ground though. I'd be interested in doing it with someone but idk if I could GM it

That actually sounds amazing.

I was in this roleplay about a group of nerds who liked roleplaying. Half the time it'd be following the nerds and their average life, the other half it'd be following the nerds' D&D characters. It was some major roleplay-ception.

So you guys were roleplaying as yourselves?
I was in this roleplay where every time one person said 'fml' in the ooc it would actually happen in the roleplay.
Of course, that wasn't the whole concept of the roleplay, but still.

Something similar, the story was essentially we were all puppets that gained sentience, unaware that all of their lives had been predetermined. We we're all playing average citizens in a city but it was an imaginary world, created by a reclusive regretful serial killer living out his fantasies without having to act it out in real life. So he would have the puppets murder, commit suicide or other terrible acts of the sort. And we ended it around the middle were it turned into debating to fully obey 'our creator' because why question what made us, vs rebelling and doing what they could to go against predetermination. Though it was likely the rebellion was still working through predetermination. The gimmick of the role play was the GM would occasionally control your actions, we didn't actually know why or how. We had to learn we were puppets later. It was pretty damn enjoyable. But with how blatant I have to be and how I literally had to explain everything more often than not in RP's I've done on here. I highly doubt I'd ever be able to do something like this again...:/

Since I mentioned it in the other RP, figure I'd do so with further detail. :P

I've done a lot of rather interesting ideas on the site I used to frequent. But that site went downhill and now no longer exists.

I had a roleplay where I played myself in the BTVS universe. That was fun. I had the ability to make anything that wasn't actually real, real. It was very fun to play a version of myself that can make Pokemon exist. :P

Years ago I wrote in a roleplay about rocks. Yep, rocks. It was more or less a parody as at the time there was a lot of drama happening within the community. The actual thread itself didn't last too long (a week or so at most), but it was really relaxing.

You could say the concept rocked.

There was a roleplay I did, which was just a normal supernatural rp, but the character I made was extremely weird! You see, her power was that she could, through her phone, access the website we were roleplaying on. She could see the rp posts and stuff even though she was actually in the rp. What was even weirder was that, in addition to playing as my character IC, I also had to play as my character OOC, since she had access to that page. It was so confusing, but so awesome at the same time!

Well, there was that Willy Wonka inspired game where kids got a golden ticket to some chocolate factory, only instead of going on a tour they entered into a sort of tournament where they had to fight one another to prove who gets the prize. My character was some preteen agoraphobic girl who threw pet rocks at people and commanded them to attack like they were Pokemon, despite them just being inanimate objects with googly eyes glued on. She, uh, didn't win.
