After dedicating years of his life to fighting Heartless and preserving the Realm of Light, Key-Master Sora passed away at a ripe old age. His legacy, however, lived on. The WDS (World Defense System) was greatly expanded and improved until it was capable of eliminating all Heartless activity on a single world. Over time, this system was spread to other worlds, and eventually Heartless became a thing of the past. It seemed the only place Heartless could now thrive was in the depths of space, in the areas outside of the opened Star Paths. Their increased presence in these locations caused them to develop strong concentration of dark energies, too dangerous to fly through, and so Gummi Ship travel became restricted to only following the paths that Sora had opened during his second journey (Kingdom Hearts 2). Like Sora, Riku also dedicated his life to the cause of light, and after Sora's death he founded a Brotherhood of Knights that would come to be known as the Judges. The Judges tasked themselves with maintaining the peace and eliminating any force that would threaten the return of the Heartless.

It's now been a thousand years since those times. Peace has reigned throughout that time, and most of the worlds are prospering. One of those worlds is Lunaris, a world named for it's intriguing resemblance to a moon. Lunaris is a thriving space port, finding itself in the center of a profitable trading route between various worlds. It's home to many merchants (some that travel, others that don't) and has become a popular place for would-be adventurers and explorers to get their start. One unlikely group of strangers, each in Lunaris for one reason or another, face an impending challenge whether they know it or not. What had begun as a simple purpose for being in Lunaris will take a turn... for the worse.

So that's the plot hook. It's a bit generic but I can promise it gets interesting once it starts. I'd tell you how but... spoilers. Anyway there's a couple of things I still need input with. Here they are:

1. Keyblades. This one is sort of the elephant in the room. At least one will be incorporated in ways I will choose not to reveal for spoilery reasons. But what I'm asking is should the party be allowed to have them. The issue I'm thinking of is that if everyone has one, then that diminishes their overall value, but if only one or two is allowed to have one then it suddenly becomes unfair to everyone else. Should Keyblades simply be banned in terms of player characters?

2. Nobodies. You'll notice that the plot hook kind of goes out of its way to avoid mentioning them. This is because I simply have no idea what to do with them at present. I can imagine they would just kind of fade away since Sora defeating the Organization kind of made them become irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Any thoughts or whatever concerning this? *shrugs*

Sure, interested, what kind of weapons would the player characters use if not keyblades? what about synthetic keyblades that have similar effects and appearances but don't have the vital abilities like freeing hearts from heartless or sealing/locking things

Keyblades should be limited to one/two people in the group. It should be applied for via PM and accepted that way. Recommend that people have other plans other than being a keyblade wielder, since it is likely they may not be accepted. Otherwise, don't have Keyblades.

So long as there are Heartless, there are Nobodies. However, without powerful Nobodies like Organization XIII, the Nobodies essentially have no purpose, and really wouldn't do much other than attack anything they came across. Heartless are different, as their purpose is to steal Hearts. Nobodies don't even have that. So, unless you have a powerful Nobody, such as on par with an Organization member, then they will essentially be irrelevant.

But yeah, interested.

Nobodies if left to their own devices would probably go after heartless, trying to find their hearts. There are less nobodies than heartless though, so without somthing leading them people probably wouldent see them all that often. Motivations and such aside, they're probably just unnecessary unless they have some relation to the story causing them to be around.

Anywho, possible interest. Keyblades should probably be limited if too many people want one, but at the same time keyblade wielders shouldn't be more important than other characters.

The problem is that in KH being a keyblade wielder is the highest position somebody could have, unless I play a Nobody that created it's own heart over time or something there is no way any random character could match a key-wielder in power.

Power doesn't equate to importance. And having a keyblade doesn't automatically make you ultimate badass either. Sora and Roxas were both pretty weak when they started off. Aqua, Terra and Ven all had training before their story started. Riku spent kh1 all hoped up on darkness and didn't actually get his own keyblade til later. Eraques and Xehanort are both old and experienced. They have a special function in the world but they're still only as good as the wielder.

Sooo, she'd disagree on that point. In an RP its more about how the players play. You can bend that kinda thing and its not all about straight power anyway. A character can have its importance without being as strong as another too. Which is the point she meant to make at first but then started rambling...

Hmm... looks like the general consensus is to limit Keyblades and ignore the Nobodies then... may go with that option. For the record, I am not automatically reserving a Keyblade for myself. That would be kind of dickish... plus I have my own ideas anyway so... *shrug*

I'll reiterate this point when I get an actual thread up, but the Judges will all be NPC's so it goes without saying that they will be off limits for player characters. However, should the need arise for someone to take control of a Judge for plot purposes (which I will allow/encourage) the general rule of thumb is that the Judges will have names and abilities inspired by Final Fantasy summons. So expect names like ifrit and Ramuh to crop up as they come along.

I'm up for playing someone who doesn't have or even want a keyblade. I'm thinking of playing a gunslinger of some description who takes the fight to the Heartless to avenge their dying/dead world. Think this would fit in the theme of the game?

Edit: on the subject of Keyblades becoming meaningless, just keep in mind that there is a canon location called the Keyblade Graveyard that literally contains thousands of Keyblades from deceased Keyblade wielders. There was a point in the history of Kingdom Hearts where there were literally thousands of these people and there was even an academy to teach their use. Yen Sid (the sorcerer from Fantasia) taught at this school, so it's not a stretch to assume that Sora and pals reopened it after defeating Xahanort.

Just a note about this: Dream Drop Distance (the 3DS game) confirms that Nobodies just kind of screw around a bit before regaining their hearts over time. It's not really clear how, but most of Organization XIII regain their hearts and return to their former selves during the first act of Dream Drop Distance
