Brick nodded, and sped his pace to keep up with Aya. He could hear the water from where they were, but he couldn't quite get a good view of it. The trees were a little bit different here - not by much, though. He thought he saw a few different kinds from further away from the river. Some short time passed, and he thought he could hear something other than the water - some riverbank rocks shifting around, like somebody walking on them, maybe?

He hefted his sword up to his right shoulder and kept both hands on the grip as he continued forwards until he could see the river.

Aya came out of the trees that part near the edges of the riverbank. She wasn't quite sure what she'd been expecting to find. A Brom maybe, or a Rabin? Or maybe just the peaceful river flowing between the banks as it always did. Whatever her expectations, this had not been among them. Kianna, bending over a tiny sodden body desperately trying to bring back life to it. With the fur wet, slicked back and slightly far from her, Aya had no way of telling it was Destin. Given the circumstances, the first person to come to mind was Selena who shifted into a cat. Forgetting about Brick in the consuming thought of her duty, she ran to Kianna and cried out her name. "Kianna! What's happened?!"

"Help!" Kianna calls out, no luck with her horrible attempt at CPR. The boy would die if no one showed up to help. "Please hurry!! A shifter fell into the river. I don't know what I'm doing because I'm fucking incompetent."

Misha dug her fingernails into her palms to calm the rising panic in her throat. She padded to the edge of the water, trying to find a shallower area so she could wade across and retrieve what she assumed was now the cold corpse of her friend. She dreaded the confrontation, though. She could see Kianna from here and didn't want to face her.

Brick saw the two trying to save a soaking wet, fairly small cat. The coat wasn't a domestic pattern, so he figured it was a shifter. Instinctively, he charged forth and stood between the three and the river, eyes scanning the other side of the riverbank. The healer was already working on saving the creature - the best he could do at that moment was make sure nobody took advantage of the situation.

Water splashed his boots, and he could tell that it was freezing cold. Potentially deadly for such a small body.

Aya pushed Kianna aside, perhaps a bit too brusquely but she knew what had to be done. Thankfully from her experience CPR didn't vary too much when it came to the vast menagerie of animals she'd dealt with, although it would have been more helpful had the shifter been in human form. However, when the tiny body was beneath her hands she felt a sharp jolt. This... This was Destin! Her mind was a blank for a moment. How had he fallen into the river? What if someone found out they'd talked and then they'd hurt him? Was this her fault? Her emotions shouldn't have been twisted so strongly - they'd only just met! - but her lungs felt like they were filling up with the same water that was soaking his.
She took a deep breath. She couldn't let her emotions distract her. Whoever the patient was did not change what actions needed to be taken. She checked if he was breathing.

Kianna shot a short glare at Aya as she was pushed away. "I pulled him out of the water a few minutes ago," she explained. She felt chills run through her body as the cold set in. She was too tired to shift again though, so she'd just have to suffer. "Do whatever you healers do," she shrugs before turning away.

Brick looked back at Kianna, took his leather biker jacket off, and tossed it to her. She could keep warm with that - meanwhile, he had to stand watch. His Metallica shirt wasn't exactly warm, but he didn't really care in this kind of situation. It was a pretty big emergency no matter which way it went, and he wouldn't let someone get hypothermia on him as long as he could do something about it.

"Dry off, warm up, then put the cat in the jacket, eh?"

Aya barely registered whatever Kianna said, although in the back of her mind was the thought that she'd have to make sure the other girl was warmed up after this. There was no breath from Destin's mouth. She tilted his head to the side and then began to gently push on his chest, counting as she went. She felt a calm come over her as she followed the motions she knew so well from practice. Getting air into his lungs would be difficult.

Kianna hesitantly took the jacket, unfamiliar with this Brick character. She wrapped herself in it, mostly to please him. She'd be gone once she had the energy to shift back. She didn't like being around a lot of people, even if she was apart of the groups. Her gaze met the other side of the forest at this time, and she spotted Misha's figure moving. She narrowed her eyes.

Brick glanced back at Kianna to make sure she'd done as he asked, and noticed that she seemed to be looking at something across the river. Perhaps her eyes were sharper than his.

He looked where Kianna was looking, and saw movement as well. He shrugged and continued looking left and right across the river, watching the figure with his peripheral vision. Whoever it was, he didn't want to scare them off.

Misha froze, her eyes locked with Kianna's. Damn it, she thought. If I run now, I'll look like a damn coward. Instead, she just contorted her face into a haughty glare. She glanced down at Destin's limp form and Aya, trying to save him. I should thank them.... Nope!

Aya parted Destin's mouth and did the best she could to breathe into it, avoiding his tiny sharp teeth and then continued to press on his chest. If he didn't respond, would it be best to take him to a hospital? Or a vet? She didn't know if she could get him there in time. "Come on... Wake up..." she murmured no louder than a whisper.

Kianna's entire demeanor turned hostile as she watched Misha make her way over to them. Of course it had to be her. Of all people. Kianna clenched her fists.

Brick spoke to Kianna without taking his eyes off the other bank. "If Aya's okay with you, I assume you're one of us. The name's Brick. Pity we didn't meet under better circumstances."

He kneeled down in the gravel and laid his sword on the ground, then sat on it to keep the water off of his pants. He hoped that disarming himself would perhaps calm the other figure making its way across the river somewhat.

Suddenly, Destin splutters, coughing up the river water. He turns his head to the side, coughing hoarsely. He whimpers and forces his eyes open weakly. "Did I...die?" He asks quietly, then notices Aya. "Oh look. An Angel has come to me." He closes his eyes again and lets out a shiver as he tries to curl in to a ball. "So cold.."

"I'm Kianna. I don't go into camp that often." She replied tightly, not taking her eyes off of Misha. She remained standing where she was, unmoving.

Misha glanced at Kianna for a moment to fix her with a cold glare, then drew her gaze back to Destin, who apparently wasn't dead.

"If you're able to make it now, we should probably put the cat in that jacket. He might be breathing again, but he's still on his way out if he doesn't warm up fast. Do you know him?"

Brick stretched his arms and legs a bit, almost accidentally dumping his foot in the river, and leaned back to relax. Judging by Kianna's behavior, whoever it was out there wasn't a Rabin - but they hadn't been attacked just yet, and as far as he knew, he was a total unknown to every one of the Broms except Fabine.

Aya let out a sigh of relief, and at the word angel once again felt eclipsed by her feelings. She blushed, but forced herself to refocus. She scooped up his small body in her jacket and it held it close. "I'll have to get you back to camp." she didn't even think of him as a Brom. In that moment he was a life who needed to be saved. She stood up and turned to Brick and Kianna. "Guys, I have to take Destin back to camp!"
