The Second Terran Imperium (Eta Carinae Claimant)

_____________________________________________________________________________
Summary:

The Second Terran Imperium was formed sixty years ago, renaming itself from simply the galaxy-spanning Terran Imperium after nearly 140 years of waiting for Earth to reinstate control and order within the galaxy. With Earth still in anarchy and the Terran Imperium all but entirely destroyed, the Imperial loyalists of Carina and the Sagittarius-Arm have finally given up and have decided to take matters into their own hands.

The Second Terran Imperium is notable for having a very high number of aliens relative to other imperial loyalist factions (and even led by aliens). This is because the Sagittarius Arm (region of the arm closest to Orion) and Carina in particular were regions of space populated by species that benefited from the early humans non-militarised colonisation phase and/or sided with the empire during the war against the original Solar Confederation, it also in recent history (post-fall) has been the target of numerous alien invasions and migrations from other parts of the galaxy.

Ever since the early wars with the Martians, xenophobia against aliens has been more than common, so the aliens of the Carina-Sagittarius region of space have mostly got by by exploiting their position as a ‘model minority’, gained through their assistance to humanity in its earlier wars.

The aliens lost most of their nations and sovereignty over the centuries and millennia, more due to simple overwhelming influence of Earth and the Terran Imperium than invasion, eventually submitting to vassalage, annexation and eventually assimilation. Today, the many native aliens of the “Second Imperium” (due to the time since assimilation and close proximity to Earth) don’t even recognise their own native cultures, much of their culture now either being heavily merged with human culture or almost entirely supplemented by it.

The Second Terran Imperium is particularly championed by the Hexanagallion people, aliens based from Carina who like other pro-human aliens cut their teeth as a civilisation fighting for the imperial humans in the Solar Wars, their entire species was technologically uplifted from the Industrial Age by humanity to fight for them in their wars (making them a direct contrast with humanity's own first contact experience with the Martians).

GOVERNMENT AND PERSONALITIES

Type of Government: Absolute Monarchy(De jure), Regency Military Junta(De facto)
Capital System (De Jure): Earth, Sol (Claimed, does not actually control)
Capital System (De Facto): Carina Prime, Eta Carinae
Head of State: N/A (Disputed among numerous human imperial claimants)
Head of Government: Generalissimo & Regent, Lawrence Tos Aktsar’Remavir

The Government Details: The Second Terran Imperium is officially ruled by an emperor or empress, however has not had one since its formation, since like other imperial remnants/successors it is still trying to decide who is the legitimate successor of the Terran Imperium. Because they lack the monarchy they claim to represent, the Second Terran Imperium is actually ruled by a regency council that is mostly dominated by military officials. The military junta in turn is mostly dominated by Hexanagallions, the aliens controlling the most disciplined military forces during the fall which did not drastically splinter/dissolve into rabble, enabling them to seize power by default.

-------------------
Leaders:

Generalissimo and Regent, Lawrence Tos Aktsar-Remavir

Lawrence (taking a human first name like most Hexanagallions) is the current de facto ruler of the Second Terran Imperium. Lawrence is a renown war hero and a genius military commander. He mostly appeared from anonymity descending from an old but minor military family, rising through the officer ranks through winning improbable victories, launching successful risky assaults and other unorthodox activities. Charismatic, somewhat eccentric and respected authority figure for the men and women that serve under him, he seems to be the perfect ruler... if not for his disappointing lack of interest in politics.

Lawrence, a latter-day Cincinnatus would find his lack of political ambition endearing in a republican nation, but here he is looked at as pathetic by both his political rivals and allies, who each conspire against him. His position of leader was gained by his allies giving it to him, an appointment mostly to stop their rivals from taking the position by force, as well as to placate the human populace who consider him a "good alien". While he is not exactly a puppet, his political power is much less than it appears, and the political stability of the country pays for it.

As Generalissimo, Lawrence mostly sees his political appointment as nothing more than a means to achieve more funding and supplies for the front, and is perfectly aware of what his political enemies and allies think of him. In his eyes, politics is currently meaningless since their imperium is simply a placeholder until the wars of unification are completed.

Belonging to the pro-human loyalist faction that emphasises reunification of the Terran Imperium and reestablishment of the imperial dynasty, Lawrence is considered one of the most human-friendly faces in the upper command, particularly compared to his fellow Hexagallion generals whom are more interested in creating a distinctly Hexanagallion-led "Terran" imperium. Among Hexanagallions, while he is greatly respected for his ingenuity and success, he is considered a blatant terranophile that would sabotage their species ascension to supremacy in the galaxy.

@Monkeypants Might I ask you a few questions? I noticed that you like big ships, which is cool, and as much as I would love to harshly tell youto anme the ships appropriately, I won't. Rather I will tell you a big flaw: big ships are REALLY vulnerable to small ships and bombers. Flak cannons here or there, the bigger the ship, the more suspectible it is to a torpedo. I suggest you add some smaller escort ships, even if only for the show.

Alright let's see if we can nip this drama right at the bud.

@6slyboy6 By any realistic logic fighters and bombers would not exist in space, tracking and PD make them hilariously slow targets.

That's not fun, so why don't we ignore realism there?

Same goes for people who want huge ships or whatever else isn't realistic. Can we just use rule of cool instead of getting into the omnipresent bullshit that is sci fi debates?

I would love to debate this with you however, this isn't the time or place. If you have any questions feel free to pm! This wouldn't be the first time I've had this discussion.

For ease, refer to what isotope posted
And above all else, just have fun!

@Isotope What? Drama? Jesus Christ man, you got it all wrong. I really wanted to know what he was thinking making it, mayve some cool homing flak cannons, or anti fighter shields. Or anything really. Looking at the way the fights would be handled, it really doesn't matter, but looking at the outcry of my question, I might as well use my imagination. My brain is itching at the designations, but I guess it only is weird if you look at it from our measely human point.

That said, is it unimportant to make fighters? Cause a strikecraft is really important, but if we don't go for it then we are simply not going for it.

Rule of cool! Story first! Let me adjust my post here. Sly, the tone of your post implies the lead to drama by nit-picking etc.

That said, I didn't add ultra detail in regards to guns or anything because I'm more so interested in the story than a show of who has more and cooler tech and then that leads to the who's smarter shit. It's just a bad deal.

It should be a given in a space setting that ships are bristling with anti capitol, anti missile and anti strikecraft weaponry, its pretty much standard fare. I mentioned gravity weaponry specifically as that is what the dominion uses as main weaponry.

If we went hyper realism, your fighters and torpedoes wouldn't even come close because lasers are instant hit, and if you couple that with a large drive system, the power that could be funneled into that weapon would easily burn up a fighter, let alone a torpedo. You'd also have arrays that are fast firing which removes the need for flak if you could just point and click, one shot one kill.

If I wanted to go hyper realism, I'd pick one class of ship, remove all fighters and missiles because its just added weight which could be better used on more light and heavy energy weapons and shielding.

I however, am not going ultra realism because I want cool fights and not two battleships with epic railguns shooting at each other say beyond visual distence like battleships of earths history. Fire your guns from miles away, way beyond the horizon.

I want fighter dogfights and warships exchanging weaponsfire at close ranges like startrek/wars and games like homeworld.

Rule... Of... Cool.

But anyway, just assume that everyone's capitol ships have anti everything weaponry, its just the way it is.

AND, regarding ship names... I classify how I want. If I want a dreadnought to be called a frigate class, I will! :D

@Monkeypants Yeah I get it. I totally get you, and I really am not against what you say. I do have my doubts about the whole fighter ordeal, but that can pass as long as we could have cool dogfights.

Yes realistically it would be "Captain, our ship was hit, we need to evacuate. The shot came from 1000km away and was fired by a gauss cannon."

All hail the cool ships people come up with. I surely won't hold back.

I could give you guys a relatively exhaustive talk about what a "realistic" space battle would probably be like. It'd be much different than you may imagine and fun/exciting in a rather different way. I can also explain how generic sci-fi tech of shields, energy weapons of vagueness and super sensors create a completely different battle environment than how it's portrayed (for starters, shield scales with ship size thus bigger ship almost always beats a smaller one while fighters are hopeless to do anything).

But you know what? I don't.
As others said this game is about having fun and me pretending to be an actual expert on this matter is not that. I could tell this in PMs to people so they can get a few exciting new ideas for their space battles but otherwise? I leave this out from here.
Rather I am going to finish up my profile for the Martians.

Hmmm... All this talk has given me an idea. Anyone interested in having a short (think 6 days or something) war very early in the RP? I'm thinking a war in which neither side is a "douche" and intentionally started it or anything. If interested lemme know and we can iron out some details. In the meantime I've got a sheet to work on.

@6slyboy6 I have a couple of questions about your empire. But first off let me say it's an interesting idea.

1.For the Sankar beasts, it's said they are put under the control of Gensathi Operator. Should the operator die but there are more Gensathi Operators on the same planet/battlefield would they fall under others or would they go feral or turn on their masters? Also if all the Gensathi on a planet are wiped out who do they serve or are they merely killed.

2. Were the Gensathi asleep while the humans conquered the milky way and were only awaken recently or were they just outside known areas.

3. How many Gensathi are left exactly?

@LordZell I had considered it, Probably will have a try at it.
There are multiple starmap ideas made in this NRP. Some of them might even worth trying.
I'll check them out and give you a few alternatives.
