It's just as easy to lump the animal hybrid folk into one category as it is with every other race. Generally Beastmen follow instincts more than rational thought, there skin is at least partully covered in something other than human skin depending on there mix (scales, fur etc). They'll generally have at least one characteristic that matches there mix such as claws, a tail, that sort of thing.

Every other race is just as diverse they just generally conform to a humanoid appearance. The southern elves are most likely completely different from the Northern Elves of Reach that we've learned about thus far. There are hundreds of different kinds of humans, black, Latina, white, Asian the list goes on. We still call them human.

That point aside unless it was some very specific magic administered over enough time that they would know what was happening then this sort of thing had to be caused by demonic magic. However twisted the demons are they don't do things without a reason. Most of the time the things they do are for food or enjoyment. There is no reason why they'd give a set of warriors more powerful bodies without proceeding to slaughter them very slowly and painfully afterwards. This transformation more or less allowed the warriors to take control of a good portion of the country side. Demons don't give out that kind of power for no reason.

I'm trying to offer a compromise in that the magic that caused the curse was not of demonic origin, as that already seemed not to fly with Vladimir, given the constraints of the setting. Is there really any reason to assume it couldn't have been another source? Who says it "had to be caused by demonic magic?" Unless specified elsewhere, magic is often very vague and open to interpretation, and I'm assuming it's so here. Whatever consensus I come to with the GMs, I'll have to rework my history, and I'm figuring out what can and can't work in the realm of the setting.

Because changing some's entire physical being permanently requires a lot of power that very few sources could supply. One of those would be the underworld.

It's not hard for an ordinary mage to perform a transformation spell but to make it last indefinably without a continued source of power or killing the mage would take much more power than most can supply.

I have to wonder, where are you getting this information? If the GMs have some kind of chart that defines the limitations and nature of magic in this setting, I would ask you to point me to it.

As long as the Mark isn't the thing that turned them into Beastmen, it's perfectly fine. And Seraph is the closest thing to a GM that there is when Halvtand and I aren't around. This is the final verdict: As long as the Mark is an actual Mark, Aristo's characters can stay the way they are. Find something new for the Mark to be, and have them get cursed into becoming Beastmen through some other means. Conversation over.

Parker, I'm grateful that you paid attention to all the rules and minor details. As I said before, your mind works like mine and Halvtand's. xD But that side, just let Aristo either agree to, or disagree to the conditions I have applied.

Bleh, my English vocabulary is kinda limited, I really can't express myself as much as I would want. Either way, I'm kinda excited to steer Nianxi's character development this way. With both sides of her shattered soul having to become one again to avoid becoming a mindless demon. Also, a good medium to convey them learning new skills.

I did like your post. It seems that everyone on the new guild's MoD are good writers.

A big thanks to everyone for stepping up in my absence and helping Aristo with his character.

Just to be clear about the ages and the siege of Veiron:
This game is a reboot, we tried this before the guild was wiped, it died, but me and Vlad loved this enough to give it another chance. But with a few alterations to make it better. In the old version it was clearly stated that every character had to be at least twenty years old because that's how much time had passed since Veiron. Somehow this short line of text disappeared while it was being edited and neither of us noticed until Parker pointed it out. So instead of having everyone change their characters I improvised that Veiron had been besieged for the last twenty years (or so) just to keep things moving. It's not a good explanation and I wish that we had noticed this error sooner, but like Parker said, we've silently agreed not to talk about it.

Now, let's talk about Khagor.
To start with (And I know this has been said) The mark.
The mark is a small thing (or at least starts out as it). A detail. A black mark somewhere in the body, birth mark, a cut that never heal, a paralyzed toe, a patch of white hair. Something along those lines.

The beastmen(yes, this too).
Very little info has been given about this race and I appreciate your attempt to flesh out the world, but I'm afraid that your story isn't really believable. Though I believe it would help a lot if you'd set the time for this “change” a long time ago and not in our characters life time. Also I have to agree with Parker that the demons wouldn't give out traits and advantages like that without getting something in return. Give it a thought, I'm sure you can come up with something good.
Now, the beastmen isn't really one race, more like a gathering of half men/half animals. They've only been put in one group like this because they all share that trait.
As far as appearance go I wholeheartedly support the humanoid rat.

One thing just hit me that could solve this problem without forcing you to change most of your character. How about being cursed by a powerful mage instead of demons? Perhaps a mage who fought for Veiron saw Khagor loot something during the battle and, enraged by it, turned him into a rat. Then the curse spread to his men and so on...
Perhaps “real” beastmen has some strange reaction to your character. That could become a big plot-thing for you.
Just a suggestion.
Other than that I believe Vlad, Parker and Melkor has thought of everything. Don't hesitate to ask if you need help or advice on anything. We want good players with interesting characters and will help anyone who asks to achieve this.

Melkor:
I'm currently working on the post which will bring our characters together, but I can't really do it "right now" (in-game time). Travelling from Rudin to Astoria will take a while and I think I'll have to do something on the way just to get some time to pass. I've had an idea for a small encounter that I can use, so you can just go ahead and figure something out for your character to pass the time as well.

Halv, I could have Cylus take his students on a field trip north if that brought them together.

Melkor:
Yeah, that could work, but it would be a long trip. We can run into each other somewhere in the middle. What do you think about our characters having a past? (together, of course they have a past :P)

Parker:
Know that feel, bro. Everyone goes retard every now and again...

Thanks for the feedback on Khagor and his men. Regarding demons and things, are there benign, or at least less-malevolent entities that exist on other planes? Would they be defined as demons too? I'm thinking up sources for the affliction, potentially the result of an entity trapped in Khagor's sword, or something similarly outlandish.
