Chapter 1: Man Behind the Curtain

Firefly zipped across the city, her wings flapping silently at high speeds as she flew over building after building. Tonight seemed quiet to the redhead as the sight of the city captured her awe. Sure it was filled with just as much crime as it was in the days of the great legends, but there was always a particular beauty to the night lights of a city - any city, but Bludhaven had it's own unique charm as well. Slowly, she slowed to a hover as she admired the distant sounds of bustling traffic and beats of night clubs and even though she preferred nature at times, this was nice to experience too.

Suddenly she heard a woman's scream coming from a nearby alley, causing her to tense up in alertness. Almost instantly gaining full speed, she dashed towards the scream, quickly seeing shadows at the end of the alleyway. One was a man, holding a switchblade while the other was a woman with purse, backing away from her assailant. Rose raised her voice, clenching her fists, "leave her alone!" Which was an interesting thing about Firefly - her voice was very feminine, making it less intimidating, but she had learned a while ago if she spat a little fire as she yelled, it usually gave a more dangerous tone to her aura.

Though as soon as she yelled and the man seemed to look back, Rose was shocked to see the shadows disappear, realizing that she hadn't actually saw anyone to begin with. The redhead got this overwhelming feeling of something being out of place, as if something didn't belong, quickly wondering if this was the rumored danger that had been killing and making other 'capes' disappearing.

She felt a hand press against her shoulder, finding herself unable to move as she watched a woman walk in front of her. Dressed in a simple red robe, red shirt, black pants and boots, the only thing unusual about her was that she wore a stylish mask. Her voice was gentle and yet wizened. "If you want to do something better for this city - to be better - than meet at The Archer, a bar in eastern downtown. It's not hard to find and you get around fast enough.. a Mr. Gannet owns it - just came into his possession. There's a hidden room in the back. Tell him the 'arrow shoots straight.' He'll understand." Walking behind her once more, Rose having kept complete alertness on the mysterious figure the entire time, she could feel herself able to move again. She spun around, but the figure was already gone, forcing her to purse her lips in thought.

Only a half hour later, Rose was quietly pushing open the door to 'The Archer,' and slipping inside the bar as she covered her wings with a simple cloak. Sure it was odd to see a woman with a cloak, but it only drew a few odd glances before people were taking more notice of her red hair than anything else. She walked up to the bar and cleared her throat before addressing Chris. "Excuse me.. but, um.. the arrow shoots straight? I mean.. don't they always?" She knew she must've sounded like an idiot, but maybe the bartender would take it as a corny, nerdy joke.

The rest of our heroes experience similar things across the city as the mysterious woman visits each one of them. Sometimes she would make sure they didn't move, as if knowing somehow they'd run away or freak out, or possibly attack her - while others she'd simply show up, give her message and disappear into the night air like a strange vision. However they were all told the same thing, except for Hoverfly, of course. Instead, she had visited him and handed over the deed to the bar, 'The Archer.' She never once explained how she got it or what happened to the owner, though if Christ were to investigate, he would learn that his boss had moved to Metropolis and bought a mansion for himself and left the deed to him instead. Explaining the secret room in the back, she told him to expect others with the given password and to wait for her once they were all gathered.

(OOC NOTE: Feel free to write up any situation on how the mysterious woman showed up for your character. Then head over to The Archer and give Hoverfly the password, while he let's people into the back room! Once everyone has 1 post up, I'll continue the story. ^.^)

Joshua

Joshua was leaning on the reeling on the balcony of a high end club called The Oasis. Bludhavens spoiled little brats went here to party and have a good time, also an expensive time. Joshua hated it here. A few girls already made a move and spoke to him, but he was not in the mood for that kind of entertainment. He stared down on the streets, a few cars and pedestrians were still on their way to or from wherever.
He turned around an saw a cute, little blonde smile at him. He smiled back. "Hey bro did you just look at my girlfriend like that?", an incredibly buff Latino came to Joshua. He was visibly drunk and wanted a fight. Joshua was in the mood for this kind of entertainment. The Prince smiled. "And if I did thought guy?", Joshua said as provocatively as possible. The response was a punch right in Joshua's face. A normal person would have probably be thrown over the railing, Joshua just smiled a bit more.
He stopped the second punch with his hand and applied a little force, just a little... a few bones broke perhaps but well... "Not so though now asshole?", the guy had never a chance against Joshua's Atlantean strenght. "Stop it he is my boyfriend! He is just drunk!", the blonde girl punched Joshua's shoulder screaming.
Joshua snapped out of his rage. What was he doing? He was making a fool out of himself fighting with drunk humans. This was beneath him. He let the hand go and jumped over the balcony. Leaving behind a bunch of bluffed club goers. "He was one of them superhumans!", declared one of them.
As the young atlantean prince did a more or less graceful landing on a nearby house and then jumped down again from that he noticed he may have had a bit to much to drink. "Fuck.", Joshua wanted to make his way to his apartment when he suddenly saw a masked figure in front of him. "Who are you?" The masked figure did not answer, "The Archer, a bar in eastern downtown. Tell the Bartender 'The Arrow shoots straight' if you want to help this city."
"Listen you wannabe vigilante, if you think you can give me orders or that...", he walked forward while saying this and pulled out a short golden staff from his pocket, something clicked and it turned into a full trident, "... I am going to follow them than you can go..." Joshua was stopped in his movement by some force. He used all his force but it was no use, he could not move. And even worse his head was turned by the same force, he struggled as hard as he could to no avail. Then suddenly he was free but his tormentor was gone. "By Neptunes beard what who was that?"
He should go to the bar, that barman would give him answers...
Joshua nearly broke the door when he entered. "The Arrow shoots straight."

Hoverfly

The Archer was a pretty little bar on the Eastern side of downtown. Nestled in between two bland apartment buildings, the warm light that illuminated from the windows lit up the street in front. A rustic, heavy-iron sign hung above the door. Inside, it was a cosy mix of leather chairs and tables. A huge slab of marble made up the counter top, backed with a kaleidoscope of different coloured bottles. Christopher was pleased when his job application was accepted, and he began working there. The people in Bludhaven were surprisingly friendly and jovial, and, most pleasantly, tipped pretty well. He integrated well into his peers at the bar, but he didn't really have a close relationship with the owner. So, Christopher was very surprised when the woman in the strange mask entered.

She walked over to him, and immediately handed him a piece of paper. "What's this?" He had asked quizzically. Her response had come as a huge shock.

"It's the deed to The Archer, Mr Gannet. The owner requested that you be the one who takes up the mantle. You will use this bar as a meeting place for people like you. In the coming hours and days, people will come to this bar. If they say "The Arrow Shoots Straight" then you will let them into the back room. If you want to help this city, then you will do as I have instructed."

The women left as soon as she had entered, leaving Christopher with a lot on Questions buzzed around his brain, like why him, who was that, and how much will he get paid for this promotion. None of his coworkers believed him at first, but when he showed them the deed, their faces showed the same confusion and amazement that his own had displayed. He didn't tell them about the superhero meeting place aspect of the deal, though. They didn't need to know about that. As the day got later, and the sky got a little darker, Chris began to ready himself for the superheroes that were prophesied to arrive.

People came and went, and none of them had said the phrase that the women had told him was the password. Until, when he was beginning to get a little sceptical, the first one entered. She was a very cute girl with bright pink hair, and a long cloak strewn over her. She also had a little heard tattoo on her cheek. When she walked up to the bar, she spoke in a high voice. ""Excuse me.. but, um.. the arrow shoots straight? I mean.. don't they always?". Christopher responded by telling her to wait there, and then went and opened the back room up. The back room is the open room, next to the door labelled "storage", down that corridor over there. And may I just add, I think your hair his really cute. Chris added that last point with a smile, as he motioned behind him to a corridor which led off past the drink shelf.

The next person to enter was a gruff looking man who had smashed open the door when he arrived. He too had uttered the phrase when he had arrived. Christopher told him about the back room and also motioned in the direction of the corridor. He wondered what other people would come looking for him in the following hours.

"Remember to turn on the alarm before you leave tonight Jacque! There's been a string of break ins in the area as of late." "Will do ma'am Have a good night Mrs.Carrie; stay safe! Oh, and tell your husband I said to cut down on those cigars, they'll be the death of him!". Jacque smiled softly as the elderly woman that he called his boss chuckled and closed the door behind her. He enjoyed interacting with Mrs.Carrie, almost as much as he enjoyed working for the tea shop that she owned. It was quiet and peaceful, and yet it saw more than it's fair share of interesting people from every walk of life, each with their own stories to tell. The fact that the old woman would swap recipes with Jacque and didn't mind him helping himself to the copious amounts of tea that lined the store's shelves even after hours certainly didn't hurt either. Still, Jacque couldn't wait until he'd finally have the opportunity to open up his spice shop. Maybe he'd also dabble in the sales of tea in addition to exotic spices and herbs, just to keep the memory of the time he spent under Mrs.Carrie's. Of course first he'd have to finish dealing with the rampant crime sweeping through Bludhaven, but it'd be worth it in the end.

The young hero was pulled away from his thoughts by the familiar sound of a whistling kettle in the store's back room. After pulling off his apron and setting it down on the counter Jacque made his way towards the back room, plucking up a disposable cup as he went. Another smile plastered itself upon the Bokor's face as he fixed himself a cup of white açai berry tea, a personal favorite of his. Said smile soon wavered as Jacque heard the bell chime that indicated someone's entry. "Mrs.Carrie?" He called out as he began to walk out with tea in hand, "Did you forget some-" he froze "thing..." he trailed off as he was met with the sight of masked figure. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end as he felt the mystery woman lock eyes with him, however he tried his best to avoid showing his discomfort. "Er...hello. We're kinda closed at the moment." He said somewhat warily as he set his cup down stepped around the counter to point at the flipped sign on the door.

Fully expecting a fight Jacque began to clench his left hand into a fist and step forward, eyes flashing yellow for a glimmer of a second. "Do you want this city to be better?", Jacque froze once more as the question caught him off guard, "W...What?". The figure repeated her question once more, her voice somehow putting Jacque enough at ease that he legitimately contemplated the question. A better city would mean he could accomplish his dream, so the answer was easy enough, "Yeah, I guess you could say I do.". The woman stared at him quietly for a few moments before she spoke up again, "There is a bar in eastern downtown called the Archer. It isn't hard to find. It is owned by a man by the name of Mr.Gannet, go to the bar and tell him 'The arrow shoots straight'. He'll understand the meaning and send you where you need to be.". Jacque opened his mouth again to ask her what she'd meant, however the woman slipped out the door with not a single word more and vanished down the sidewalk.

Jacque wasn't quite sure what to make of the situation, he had a lot of question, certainly enough for him to ignore the woman's instructions entirely and just go home. Yet something told him to follow through. Maybe it was his impulsive desire for new experiences, maybe it was the desire to find out more about the strange woman and what she was talking about, maybe he was just being an idiot. Either way, after turning on the store's alarm and locking up shop, Jacque quickly donned his other uniform, hopped into his jeep, and made his way downtown. True to the woman's word the bar was easily found after driving around for a few blocks. After a bit of searching around for a parking space he entered the bar, periodically taking sips from his now lukewarm tea. Jacque clucked his tongue quietly as he walked up to the bar, caught somewhere between excitement and trepidation as he eyed the man, "Uh, the arrow shoot's straight?".

Shadow Ninja lets out a breath as she finished fighting another group of henchmen. She looks to the woman and man she had just saved and gave them a look over. The woman held onto the beaten man who was glaring at her. Shadow Ninja didn't blame him much though she was a strange ninja that could just swing her sword and cut their heads off no problem.

"T-thank you." The woman whispers with a sob,"Thank you so much."

The Ninja just nodded sheathing her sword,"Take care." Shadow Ninja says to the woman before disappearing into the shadows as police appeared. As she climbed to the roof top movement caught the Ninja's eye. A figure in a red rode stood before her and it came of more calming than most people but with experience with other people Shadow Ninja kept her guard up. They had a stare off for a small while before the figure spoke. "There is a bar in eastern downtown called the Archer. It isn't hard to find. It is owned by a man by the name of Mr.Gannet, go to the bar and tell him 'The arrow shoots straight'. He'll understand the meaning and send you where you need to be."

"Why?" The Shadow Ninja asks looking the woman in the eyes trying to see if she was trying to fool her. But nothing the Ninja saw nothing but dead green eyes.

The figure just nodded before walking back into the shadows fading from the young vigilante's view. Getting out her Navigator she brings up the Archer and it turns out she isn't that far from the bar. About a mile or so away if she estimated correctly meaning She can make it in at least 20 minutes putting her navigator away she takes out a grapple and shoots it to one of the building across the way and swung to the next roof.
As thought she made it to the bar not to much later coming out of and alley next to it she makes her way inside bringing her scarf down. A strange man wearing a strange colors and sporting strange markings stood out. She walked over next to the man. She looks at the bartender and mutters,"The arrow shoots straight"

Luna, all 5 foot 2 inches of her, was standing in the head of a line, arguing with a bouncer, who said she couldn't be old enough to be in a club, despite her ID's. They said she was half a child, that a midget like her couldn't be 24. Rolling her eyes, Luna said "I don't even want to go into this damn club! Just let me in, you damn oversized baboon! I'm 24, I have a right to be in there, and I'm going in!" she darted around the bouncer, her size an advantage.

She slipped in between the crowd, soon loosing herself in it, eyes scanning the crowd for her target, a man who intended to drug a woman and rape her. Knowing it was futile to spend the evening searching, she just gave up using mundane methods and created an illusion that there was a fire. She trusted the panic to disguise the fact there was no heat, and indeed there was chaos. As people stampeded out, Luna was yanked from behind by the bouncer, who was growling something, but Luna let out a huge burst of panic, and the bouncer let her go.

Scampering off, crashing into the woman wearing a mask. She darted back, and went to go around her, before stopped by a hand on her shoulder. "There is a bar in eastern downtown called the Archer. It isn't hard to find. It is owned by a man by the name of Mr.Gannet, go to the bar and tell him 'The arrow shoots straight'. He'll understand the meaning and send you where you need to be."

And then she was left to herself. Darting out the club before anyone could realise the fire wasn't real, she ran down the street, hoping she had done enough to save the woman. She stopped at the corner. The archer? Just what the hell did that woman want with her? Hesitating, she gave a sigh.

Making her way, she ran her fingers through her hair, wondering what she was about to get herself into. She should just turn back and head home. But her feet took her to the bar, and towards the bar tender, where she tentatively said "the arrow shoots straight?"

Nevan

Nevan crawled away from under her blankets and stretched her arms. She felt good now that the sun was away. It was so refreshing to feel all her energy she wasted during the day start to replenish. She then quickly took the needed time to get a quick bath and dress up before walking up to terrace of her flat.

“The moonlight so good~” She whistled, standing on the railing. Her long red hair blowing on the wind. She then suddenly stretched her wings and quickly flew up higher and higher into the sky, until she could easily see the city under her in every direction.

“There’s nothing better than a world filled with life.” She said to herself, enjoying the sensation and the sights. It’s been ten years since she woke up in this world.” Best years of my life so far.” She said to herself again, closing her eyes for a moment, a bunch of bright spheres of lights appeared around her.” Do you need something from me?” She asked, without turning back.

“Do you wish to do something better for this city?” A voice asked form behind her. Nevan’s lights suddenly fired in that direction for a moment before turning into lasers at the direction of the voice.” I don’t take kind to people who suddenly approach me in stealth and start proposing suspicious ideas.” She stated, turning to see a caped and masked woman who appeared to not have been even phased by the attack.” Alright you got my interest for if nothing other reason than not being turning into swiss cheese.” Nevan stated, studying the robed and masked woman.

“ Go to the bar The Archer in the eastern downtown. Tell the owner ‘the arrow shoots straight’ he will know what to do from there.” The woman stated and vanished into thin air. Well wasn’t that peachy.

“I’ve been losing my edge it seems. Whomever this was appeared and left without me realizing how they did it…” She mumbled to herself. She really had fallen low. In the past she was incredibly strong, but now…

Without having anything else to do for tonight, she then simply flew in the direction of where the club should be. It really didn’t take her that long to find it and enter it, without really bothering to ‘turn’ back into human via her illusions

“The arrow shoots straight.” She stated to the man who appeared to be the one the woman mentioned.

- Aidan Frost/Aprozop

Location: The Narrows Overpass

The scenery that surrounded the overpass situated in the deep end of the poverty-stricken Narrows, a place so untidy and chaotic it made Gotham look like the Bahamas, was the type that a goth kid would be quickly enamored with. The majesty of the crescent moon which stood up and watched over the globe, covered by the coal black clouds and the smog, a by product of the increasing level of pollution. For a career criminal looking for some mischief, those conditions were heaven. For any decent person hoping to make it home safe - not so much.

Two factions stood in front of one another, some of their members leaning in their vehicles while some keeping themselves up on their feet, maintaining a straight and unwavering posture. There were eight people in one side and nine on the other, ten if you had the foresight to anticipate a well-hidden sniper in the torn out building a few hundred feet behind. Judging by their impeccable fashion style which contrasted their deplorable mannerisms, it didn't take a knowledge of rocket science to deduce they were both part of a mob. After some chit-chat, one of the mob leaders made a quick hand motion to one of his trained "monkeys", commanding him to pop open the trunk. Like a good simian, the guard complied. Disregarding the feminine screams coming from the car, he opened the trunk revealing a young, auburn-haired lady, her mouth patched up along with her feet and hands. The mascara smeared all over her cheeks coupled with the horrid smell signified she had been in there for quite a long time. The associated mob leader moved at a steady pace towards the trunk, two of his guards trailing behind. Laying his rotten eyes upon the girl, he let out a devilish smirk before nodding to his partner.

"That is her. Mr. Andretti will be very pleased.", his voice was naturally rough even though he seemed to be content with the service that was provided to him. His counter-part didn't appear to be as giddy, though, responding in a manner that can be almost deemed hostile.

"Not so fast. You need to hand us the money first, pretty boy."

"Or else?", the man retorted quickly. His remark tensed up the situation as both parties slunk their hands down their jackets where their weapons were holstered. After a long pause, the offended individual spoke, a thick layer of disdain cladding his tone.

"Do you really want to know!", he questioned, although the way how the sentence was uttered didn't sound like a question. Their metaphorical dick measuring contest ended with a short burst of raucous laughter by the potential buyer. He raised his left hand up then wiggled at one of his henchmen, the one carrying a black briefcase. He then opened said briefcase and then raised it up in display. The seller moved close, inspecting the 100 dollar bills carefully.

"Looks good.", the man declared to his people, at the same time instructing them to hand over the girl to his clients. Before they could reach out for her however, a noise put everyone on high alert as they armed their weapons and were all facing the direction of that sound which was coming closer by the second. At first, all they could make were a dual set of bright lights as they rammed through the fence and then the sound of a car, what looked like a jeep. Chaos ensued as a hailstorm of bullets penetrated the car's windshield, the sound of breaking glass drowned under the dominant noise of gunfire. The car eventually stopped, prompting two goons to move closer in order to inspect it. Much to their dismay, there was no one in the car but a rock in the gas pedal and one of their henchmen tied up to the bumper in the back, a sniper rifle attached to his hand via a cable. He was alive, his constant shuffling and groaning was evidence of that, but he was severely injured most likely due to the rough asphalt scraping his skin.

The mafia goons went from shooting what they thought was a common enemy to staring down the barrels of each other's guns in a second. There were a lot of accusations and insults hurled at one another, but none of them had the guts to shoot first. Their beef was distracting enough, so much so that they completely ignored the out-of-place, faceless stranger jacking their car with the "merchandise" in it. Three of the henchmen ran towards the car in an attempt to stop him from ruining their business, however the car began to skid in a circle, causing it's rear to hit their bodies and send them flying a couple of feet away. Not willing to endanger the girl's life, the stranger, Aprozop, sped off into the night. The mafia goons boarded their vehicles only to find out their tires were pricked and were now flat as a pancake.

Minutes later, the car's trunk popped open and the auburn-haired girl was greeted by the faceless stranger. She wheezed, trying to move her feet and hands erratically in an attempt to escape her neverending nightmare. Aprozop put his hand on her shoulder and uttered, calmly. "Calm down. I'm here in behalf of your father.", his tone was serene and almost angelic. The mention of her father calmed her down a bit, although she still had mixed feelings regarding his appearance. In a rapid motion, Aidan removed the restrictions in her mouth and limbs before moving a few feet away, allowing her to take everything in. She barely got out of the trunk but once she did, she was greeted by the interior of the second story of a multi-story car park. "You must remain here for the time being. I have notified the police and your father of your rescue. They'll be here to collect you any time now." Understandably, she was having difficulties with making sense of the situation. Unfortunately for Aidan, it was going become even more muddled.

Without prior notice, the girl fainted. Just like that. Though her fall was ominously soft, like all out of a sudden the weight was removed from her and all was left was hollow skin. That admittedly took Aprozop aback, which is an achievement in it's own, but he was quick to determine that the perpetrator wasn't a natural occurrence. He quickly shifted his sight to his right, spotting a mysterious woman wearing a red robe and a face mask. She gave off a metahuman feel right off the bat.

"Splendid job.", she congratulated Aprozop, although he had a feeling that was not the sole reason she was there. He quickly pondered in his head whether he should respond to that or not, but in the end opted not to, choosing to let her explain the situation.

"It's a shame you have no time to savor this victory of yours." Whoever this lady was, she sure knew how to play the guessing game.

"And I see you are dressed up like someone who has a statement to make. Speak.", Aprozop finally responded, completely unfazed of her ominous words or the fact she appeared out of thin air. He grabbed the unconscious girl and dragged her to the back seat of the car, keeping his ears peeled for any decent explanation on just what the fuck was happening.

"I have information regarding the case you're working on. The crucial kind." Aidan smiled under his skintight mask, a smile that only lingered for a couple of seconds and was very hard to make out.

"If that's so, then you know my case has just been resolved. Thank you ma'am, but no thank you." With that said, he steadily walked past her, getting a good look at her mask in the process. He couldn't lie - he was somewhat curious. He didn't make it far though before he froze in his path. It was because of something she said.

"I'm not referring to this case in particular." No more words needed to be said. Aidan knew what she was talking about. He was willing to pay attention again.

"The Archer. A bar in Bludhaven, east of Downtown. If you head over there, then you'll unlock the missing pieces of your deadly puzzle. The password is -The arrow shoots straight."

"How do I-", before he could pose one last question, the woman disappeared. Aidan felt that the circumstances in which this invitation was made were very dodgy, but he'd seen dodgier. All his previous leads regarding the superhero disappearance case went cold after a while. He didn't have the luxury of discarding a potential lead in favor of his own safety.

The sound of emerging sirens snapped him out of his thoughts as he made his way down the parking lot, where his car was parked. He sped up past the police cars and into the highway. Next stop - Bludhaven.

Location: Bludhaven, Downtown
"The Archer" Bar

Aidan parked his car nearby, electing to make his way inside the establishment on foot. It was very easy to shuffle through people at night. The darkness obstructed Aprozop's facial features, or lack thereof, which were covered by his fedora anyway. So long as no one mistook him for a co-worker or something, then he'd be fine. Wasn't long until he found himself standing right before the bar. After a brief pause, he grasped the handle firmly and then shoved the door open. He stumbled his way through the people in the direction of the bartender, a young man in his 20s. Or at least he looked that way. Aidan didn't get to the talking immediately, waiting for the boy to notice him. It was only then that he said the magic words.

"The arrow shoots straight."

Kyle Hishamie/ Warden

Kyle walked the streets, eyes half open and head bobbing to his music from his headphones. The city was half alive, no more dead than usual at night. Tonight there wasn't much crime though. Usually when he made his rounds, there was always someone to stop, a damsel to save. But tonight it was quite. Kyle hummed along to his music and blissfully walked round the corner of the sidewalk, only to be blown back several feet. Kyle layed on the ground for a few moments, then opened his eyes to see who had knocked him down.

It was a giant of a man, towering at seven feet at least. He was wearing all dark clothes, and baggy. He must be some rather height fortunate gang banger, Kyle assumed. Kyle looked around and saw no one around besides the tall man, and a three lackeys who came out from behind the tall man.

The tall man spoke." Nah man what you doing? This is MY territory. Aint no one walking through here without paying the toll. Unless you wanna get hurt bad mothafucka."

Kyle chuckled to himself. Kyle thought this was a little strange but worse enemies could be appearing right now. Kyle slowly got up, dusting off his jacket and jeans with his hands. Kyle looked at the men with displeasure in his eyes.

"Alright so I like to give one warning to my opponents before I do battle. Here it is..Run away."

Kyle lifted his hands and faced them towards the gangster, with his palms out. he filled his palms with energy and a bright yellow light filled his palms. The three smaller gangbangers got scared but did not run away. The tall one just laughed.

the tall gangbanger spoke." Fucking metas...I'm not scared of you. Lets get him guys."

The four gangbangers rushed him, with the smaller gangers attacking first. Kyle lowered his hand and dodged each blow, ducking and spinning. Kyle filled his right hand with a glowing light and shone it in the first enemies face. Kyle did not use an offensive attack, he used his light powers as a flashlight, startling and temporarily blinding the enemie. Kyle quickly jabbed at the blinded enemies stomach, then uppercutted him in the face, knocking him out. The second and third enemies flanked him, attacking from both sides. Kyle ducked low and the two enemies hit each other. The Kyle crossed his arms and shot a beam of light at both, hitting them both in the chest and knocking them out back, and out. The tall enemie charged last, like a bull. Kyle smiled and did the same. At the last second, Kyle slid on the ground and shot the tall enemies legs with his light, making him fall. Kyle got up, ran back, jumped, and landed on the enemies back with his elbow. He then grabbed the enemies head and slammed it on the ground, knocking him out.

Kyle got up and caught his breath. He pulled out his phone and called 911, telling them where he was and where the criminals where, then he hung up. As Kyle began to walk away he heard a small clapping sound.

A robed, masked figure was standing before him, right in front of the tall enemie on the ground. The robed figure spoke.

"Very impressive, but if you want to do something really good for the city head to the bar called The Archer. Tell the bar tender 'The arrow shoots straight'. He will know what it means."

Kyle looked at the women. She was obviously a women by the sound of her voice, but the robe and mask did not give anything away. Kyle had learned A while ago that sometimes strange things happen and just let them, don't question it, Kyle thanked the robed women and walked away. Half and hour later, Kyle was at The Archer. There were already a few people there, and some were even talking to the bar tender. Kyle walked up to the counter and heard some people saying the code phrase. When everyone had finished speaking he spoke up.

"The arrow shoots straight."

Eventually, everyone filed into the back room with Chris being the last to enter the room. There wasn't much to it honestly, it just seemed to be an empty room with a simple stage at the front, though one could be thankful for the clear lighting - it was be impossible for even the legendary Batman to have sneaked in without being noticed. Glancing around, Rose looked at the handful of heroes that had been hand picked for whatever.. 'this' was, mostly noting the apparent demoness, the really cute pale girl, and Chris himself who had complimented her hair - to which she had smiled for - she adored her own hair.

However as everyone stood there examining each other and studying, there was a sound of someone clearing their throat. Firefly snapped her eyes to the stage where the mysterious robed woman stood, causing her to blink a couple times. 'How the fuck...?' she thought to herself as the masked woman stared at them with a calmness that was certainly out of place. She didn't make them wait long though as she spoke out to the group, waving her hand as the door to the room closed gently. "You're wondering why you're here." Her tone was still patient as it was before, but she spoke with authority - it was a statement, like she knew with absolute certainty that they were all curious to some degree. It wasn't a large leap of logic to figure that out of course, but it was her tone that pierced through the air, like some sort of seer from a fantasy story.

"You've heard rumors of the mysterious darkness and how it's taking out metahumans and superheroes across the globe. More specifically the teams that have been forming. So why have I bothered gathering another group together?" The masked woman paused, giving everyone a moment to ponder on their own. "Because it'll come for you eventually... it'll come after everyone and the only way to face it is together." Causally, she walked to the end of the stage and floated down to the edge, sitting on it as she crossed her legs, folding her hands in her lap. "Of course.. you're not ready for that yet. No..." Again, she paused, glancing over the group. "You need to learn how to work together, to be a family, trust one another more than anyone else.. and to choose who will lead.."

The masked woman seemingly pondered for a moment before speaking again. "So let's start with something simple. There's a crime lord in downtown called Jacob Black who controls at least half of the city with his organized crime. There's a shipment of black market weapons coming into port tomorrow evening in pier six. Since I am only here to serve as a guide -" which the masked woman was sure to make clear with her tone, "- I'll answer any questions, but you must figure out what to do about it. Together."

So there she stayed, sitting on the end of the stage, patiently waiting to guide and to direct - but having given them all instructions to figure out what to do for themselves. Rose bit her lower lip in thought as she looked around the room, searching everyone's expressions and reactions to what the masked woman had just said. She wondered how many of them might walk out or demand answers to who she was or what you might typically expect. For herself, she was simply ready to try this thing - she figured that the robed woman was obviously powerful enough to put them all in their place if needed, so there was no point in deceiving them all just to get ambushed at the docks. Idly, she reached up and twirled her red hair in her fingers and simply kept silent, wondering what the others would do. There was no way she would volunteer for the position of leader. Though she did have a sudden thought and chose to speak up, although in a meek tone. "Um.. I can fly.. and manipulate fire, so.."

After being gathered alongside the others and informed by the strange woman as to why it was that everyone had been gathered in the first place Jacque couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the situation. A team. He'd been selected to join a team to...actually, he was still a bit fuzzy on the details beyond the bit where he was expected to help deal with some sort of crime lord. What he was clear of however was the fact that not all who were to be a part of this team were of the normal persuasion. This was strange. It was strange and questionable and so very novel. The bokor felt an all too familiar smile break out onto his face again, one that widened as one of the others in the bunch decided to speak up about what it was she brought to the table.

He would have eagerly leapt at the opportunity to gush about his own talents were it not for a small prickling sensation in the back of his head. With this prickling came a stream of noises in his mind that at first sounded like nothing more than unintelligible babbling. His head tilted slightly as the string of noises rapidly became clearer, 'Why us? Why you? Why does the darkness hunt us? How does it know to hunt us? Why-' 'Wait.', Jacque lightly tapped to side of his head with a finger to stop the rapid fire inquiries from his "guest" and rolled his eyes. That loa was a cautious one; much more so than himself, and at times such as this that cautious streak could be a real headache. Still, Jacque had to admit that it's wary nature did wonders to balance out his own somewhat impulsive nature. He cleared his throat softly to bring a bit of attention to himself, "I'm-", 'Seek knowledge first.' he paused a for a second to process what the message before he slowly started up again "*ahem* Er, blanked out for a second there, sorry. I'm curious about one thing: Why choose us? You said this "darkness" thing is coming after heroes and metas, so i'm assuming we all fit into at least one of those categories, but I mean why us specifically?".

The Shadow Ninja stared at the woman in shock shifting her weight a bit. She wasn't a meta-human but simply a woman really good at fighting.Though, she doubt's this 'darkness' thing doesn't care who it is the darkness will kill anyone who can try and stand against it. Shadow Ninja looks around sighing feeling a little weak before straightening and letting a small smile onto her lips"Well in that case. I don't exactly have super powers but I have a long sword and I know at least 5 different martial arts." The Ninja says before saying,"Oh and Hi! I'm Shadow Ninja or Jacklyn if you wanna call me by either is alright. Unless we're in a fight or around the enemy. Then I'm jus-." The ninja stops talking realizing she's rambling,"Uh sorry I was rambling.."
Shadow Ninja pulls her scarf up to hide her reddening face kicking herself internally for being awkward. She keeps her eyes down casted. She decided to try not to talk to them unless needed if she doesn't want to embarrass herself more. She looks around and see's that she is the only real human here she looks at the robed woman. " I'm not a meta-human so would the darkness come after me?"

Luna

The whole situation seemed weird, and mysterious. Was it a joke? Luna didn't think so, but she found it weird that they would be chosen. It appeared that none of them had much skill in what they could do. So why not people with more experience? She shifted, frowning slightly. She listened as the some of the others spoke. When one asked why them, Luna looked over, and spoke for the first time since saying the pharse that got her here. "I doubt this darkness is exclusive. It will come, and it will tear this place apart. It will go for those that might have a chance at stopping it first, albiet it even a small chance, and thats us" She said, managing to keep her tone even, and not rude. Now that she had spoken, she supposed she would have to introduce herself and what she could do.

Yet once they knew she could feel their emotions, they would probably all be reserved towards her. The collection of emotions were strong, but she could see that there was similarity between them. Curiousity and wariness. She raised her hand, and began to twirl a finger around her hair, nervous herself. It was always hard meeting knew people, and to be thrown into the deep end like this, it was a tad overwhelming. Now she had to contemplate actually telling people what she could do. She hadn't even told her father she was capable of empathy and illusions, so to tell a bunch of strangers was quite huge.

she gave a heavy sign, and cleared her throat, "I'm Luna. My abilities are still pretty basic. I can create illusions, and I have empathy-meaning I can feel and manipulate others emotions. Neither are particularly strong right now. so I rely on my boxing skills as well, in sticky situations" She said, hoping to not cause a panic if she said her empathy wasn't strong. Or at least not to cause worry.

She turned to Jacklyn and said "Like I said earlier, you have some ability to be a nuisence to this darkness. So yes, it would probably go after you. It will go after all of us, because we have shown that we will try to combat the bad things in the world. I assume that's also how this strange woman found us as well." her tone had an almost professor like tone to it, which she didn't seem aware of. She was more curious as to why they would need a leader. She didn't particularly want to follow anyone else, but this was her city and thus she would do what was best for it. She was just one person. She couldn't fight something like this darkness by herself.

She turned to the guy that had spoken up, asking why them first. "you're a curious one. Its like there's several sets of emotions in you...I've only ever experienced that in split personality disorders. I don't think that is the case here. You were eager and then cautious. A change that seemed to happen too quickly" She supposed she was throwing out her own cautious decision not to reveal how strong her empathy was, but she decided it would be best to understand her "team mates" Sooner rather than later. "Not to worry, I suppose"

Turning to the first girl to speak, Luna tilted her head realising she had copied the woman, twirling her hair. A nervous habit, of course, but still she was a little taken aback. "Flying is pretty cool. I just made an illusion of fire. It wasn't very good. Maybe you could help me with that one?"She asked, almost hopeful. Any chance to improve her abilties was important to Luna. Finally, turning to the only other person to speak yet, Jacklyn or "The shadow ninja" she gave the girl a reassuring smile, "You weren't rambling. Maybe we could spar sometime? It would be nice to learn some new fighting abilities"

She hoped she had smoothly interacted with all of those to speak so far, and hadn't made a fool of herself.

Hoverfly

Chris only got more and more surprised as more and more people entered the bar and said the code word. A man with strange makeup and strange tools. A brown haired girl who seemed to move really quickly. A pale (but cute) girl with a visible scar on her cheek. A hot horned girl, dressed in extremely skimpy clothing. After the last person had gone down the corridor to the back room, Christopher felt that they would be the last. And so, he followed them into the back room, with the stage at one side of it. He looked around at the gathered people. Never before had he seen such a different group of people all together in one place.

Suddenly all eyes turned to the stage, and he saw the masked woman standing there. "What the hell..." Christopher muttered under his breath. The woman spoke, and a few things stood out to him. Most notably, the part about the superhero teams vanishing. Christopher's own team had vanished without a trace, and it still left him confused and scared. But, Chris supposed, that was in the past. There was nothing he could do. Something else stood out about the fact that they would need a leader. Seeing a few others speak up about their powers, Chris decided to as well.

"Well, uh, hi everyone, I'm Chris, but you can call me Hoverfly if you want. My powers are pretty simple I guess - I can float. I can also levitate objects a little, but it's safe to say I'm not very good at the second one. However, I am pretty good at the first"

Chris, to prove this, floated up to the top of the room, did a flip in mid-air, and then floated back down. "Also, I'd be interested in taking up the post of leader if people want that." He added the last bit with a smile. He heard someone talking on the other side of the room and floated over. It was the pale girl with the scar. "You can sense emotions? That's really cool!

Joshua felt completely wrong with all this, he had hundreds of questions and an equal number of demands. However he guessed neither of both desires would be satisfied. The mysterious Lady seemed to know more about the darkness than she was telling. Most likely she was withholding information.
A winged girl said the first sentence, explaining that she had the power of flight and fire manipulation. Fire? I hate fire... The first one who asked a question was a young, weirdly clothed man, now that Joshua looked everyone here was young.
The third person who said something was a small, actually pretty cute, woman. She introduced herself as Shadow Ninja, not the most creative name but then again what name was. She just seemed to be an talented fighter. I will watch and decide about that... After her another beautiful woman introduced herself, she had mental powers. After she finished talking to the other two woman and the barkeeper explained his levitation powers Joshua decided he could introduce himself. His blue eyes surveyed the room, before he talked.
"My name is Arid Atla-Son, second heir to the throne of Atlantis and grandson of Orin Atla-Son, Aquaman. You surface dwellers may address me as Joshua Curry. I obviously have the superior physiology of my species and was trained by the best warriors my people had to offer! And if you might have read anything in the press, those vultures lie about me nothing more.", one had to admit there was authority in Joshua's voice, it was a voice which demanded respect if Joshua deserved it was a different question. "Our mysterious, masked Lady already addressed the most important thing. If we are going to be a team we need a leader." He looked at Chris, "My grandfather taught me that leadership is no blessing but a responsibility. I myself think that I am clearly the most qualified and deserving candidate for that position."

Chris stood off to the side listening to the mysterious lady. Something felt odd it was a thought that came from the back of his mind to the front and almost out of his mouth but first he needed to keep listening. So these people were suppose to be on a team with him, and they immediately had to elect a leader and go off on a mission.

Everyone else went on about there powers or what they can do, and one girl asked if the darkness would go after her even though she wasn't a meta-human. It was actually a good question but since she was picked to be in this team than obviously she had something worth going after. Chris' thought resurfaced and before he could speak a guy named 'Arid Atla-Son' spoke about how he was the son of Aquaman, and most importantly how he said he is the most qualified and deserving of the leader role. "Qualified maybe, deserving no." Chris spoke up, "I understand that you are the strongest of your kind, but most leaders a picked because of their planning skills." He paused knowing it's finally time for him to give an introduction. "My name is Chris you can call me Fang though, I'm an excellent swordsman in combat, and I have probably the highest level of intelligence in this room. So I also think I am qualified to be leader, and that's makes three of us now who want to be leader." Chris explained

Nevan

“I can use magic~” Nevan whistled, after listening to the others presenting their powers and what they can do and the discussion escalated into a small apparent power struggle for the leader’s position. She sighed and shook her head in despair. ‘Men…’

“Anyway, I have powers over multiple kinds of magics ranging from light magic, to darkness and even physical enchantments. Others are also possible, but due certain reasons I cannot really make use of them without throwing myself into energy coma for days.” The demon looking woman explained her powers to the other girls in the group, creating a small ball of light in her hand, before turning it into a stationary laser pellet.” I release this and well… lasers.” She smiled and made it disappear.

“As for you three… I vote for the hoverfly guy, but not that it matters right now.” She suddenly stated to the men, throwing them a judging looks. She was probably older than all of them combined, not that they needed to know that of course. She smiled and pointed a finger at Joshua.” You have qualities for a king… not a leader.” She stated, turning to Chris.” As for you… you are way to confident in your intelligence. A leader doesn’t need to be the most intelligent. A leader first and foremost needs to have the charisma to lead. The strong, the intelligent and the others all should revolve around the leader, not the other way around.” She stated, her tail swinging pleasantly behind her.

“In short, it’s impossible to actually tell whom of you three manchildren should have the leader position. That will become apparent naturally with time as the team gets used to one another. Now stop this senseless bickering, we aren’t in medieval times.”

"I'm curious about one thing: Why choose us? You said this "darkness" thing is coming after heroes and metas, so I'm assuming we all fit into at least one of those categories, but I mean why us specifically?".

" I'm not a meta-human so would the darkness come after me?"

As the team erupted into comments and questions, the masked woman kept calm, almost giving off an aura of a motherly like figure as she watched children. After a few moments of letting everyone have a bit of a say, she finally spoke up towards those who had addressed her. "Why you?" Her gaze fell upon Jacklyn. "What makes you think you do not have a metagene? Normal people are not capable of what you do - to take out entire gangs and men by yourself. Did you not think it was strange? Legends of Nightwing often fill these streets, but do you think he could do what he did, were he just a normal human? Sometimes the gene itself is subtle, but present..."

Her attention then moved over to the witch doctor. "I see potential. Nothing more, in truth... you could fail, of course, but I am choosing to have faith - that you'll do what others haven't so far." That was that, leaving her answer in the air for the man to ponder over. Her eyes drew away from him then as she looked over the crowd, making no apparent comment about the trio bickering over the position of leader.

Just as the masked woman's eyes fell on Firefly, the woman jumped slightly and looked to the ground. She glanced over to Luna with a soft smile, replying back quietly, "Um.. sure! That would be interesting.." Rose smiled gently before looking over at Nevan, biting her lip softly. Nodding, she decided to add, "I agree.. maybe we should worry more about the weapons being brought into the city first, before trying to fight for a position that.. probably isn't nearly as fun as you boys think? I mean.. that's what we're here for, right? To help the city?.. we can decide on a leader later.. and just come up with idea on how to approach the problem at hand?" Rose paused for a bit, looking across the room, though she avoided looking at the robed woman directly.

"Maybe miss, um..." She looked at Nevan for a moment. "Miss Demoness can blanket the area in darkness? We could ambush them - knock them out before anyone actually gets hurt? Luna could even maybe.. like, uh, lower their motivation to fight us? Coming out of this without any injuries would be nice - I think.." Rose wasn't sure how helpful she was being or if anyone would listen, but she figured she'd get the ball rolling, at least.

Luna was slightly taken aback as Chris approached her, saying that feeling emotions was cool. She had excepted some sort of panic, but...there hadn't been. It...was she being accepted? A strange feeling to Luna. She smiled almost sighly, "Ah. Well, it has its ups and downs. To be honest, I'm surprised. If people knew I could feel their emotions, I'd expect them to panic a bit" She said, squirming slightly. She wasn't use to such attention, and it made her nervous. Not exactly a good thing, for an empath. "flying seems a much better power"

She took a chance to look somewhere else, as others were speaking. It seemed some of them thought they would be good leaders. Luna studied them curiously, but shook her head. Arrogance could be someones downfall. "Intelligence and skills doesn't make a leader. What makes a leader is their ability to think about those that follow them. To...have the confidence and the commitment to your follows, to trust them, as they should be able to trust you. To...inspire their loyalty, and to...be there for them. It means taking on their lives, as well as your own, and knowing what they can and can't do. Knowing how far they are willing to go. Having the intution to know when they can't do something, and to help them. Being a leaderisn't about what you can and can't do, it isn't about intelligence. You can be the smartest person in the world, and be the crappiest leader, if you can't understand your followers"

She gave a shrug, "I'm not going to pick a leader after just meeting them. Honestly, if you have to say you are a good leader, then you aren't. That's just simple arrogance" She looked over to Rose, and said "I can give it a try." it would be more reliable then her illusions, she knew. "I should be able to do it, but it might not be for long. SO whatever we do, we should do it quickly"

"When were you two ever leaders? In your highschool footballteam? I on the other hand have experience.", Joshua gave each Chris the same amused look. The comments from the demoness made his eyes roll. What difference should their be between a King and a leader? He thought to himself. But it was kind of interesting that no woman wanted the position.

"We can discuss for hours about the philosophical concept of leadership but it will have no use. Rose is right. We should first focus on the mission at hand. And I like the idea with the darkness. My atlantean eyes can see in darkness far better than any humans, so I would be less disadvantaged than our enemy's. I guess our group ninja is also trained in fighting in complete darkness?", he looked to Jacklyn, "Also bullets can hurt me, so I too would like to avoid them."

It was a strange group and even stranger was that no one decided to not be part of it. Perhaps everyone had their own agenda? Joshua sure did.

"However I see no problem with using force,in special cases even lethal one against these criminals. Also it is at the harbor. I would most likely start an attack from the water. I guess nobody would join me in that but it would still be a way to surround them."
