Pretty good. My dad visited for the weekend, and we went shooting and saw the new Star Trek movie. It was a good day.

Well, I'm calling it quits. I joined this site years ago in order to play in a roleplaying game, I have yet to actually DO that. You all have fun waiting without me.

@Deserted I understand your frustration, but please have faith in the others and stick it out for a little bit longer.

This isn't like this is golf or chess or something that requires concentration and reflection. I have had EVERY game on this site turn out like this. We make characters, the GM slaves over an awesome adventure, then we introduce our characters and... nothing. Nothing at all happens. IRL stuff comes up always, and then the game shrivels up. Out of the the dozens of other players I've played with on here who have IRL issues, it is pretty dang suspicious by this point. Either they have grotesquely poor time management and they are too embarrassed or rude to say "sorry guys, go on without me" or they have gaming as a super low priority (like second even to watching Battle Star Galactica reruns on Netflix.) If everybody is so tied up in IRL, then what the heck are they doing on here? Why are they even IN a game? They need to close up shop, quit their games, and get back to doing whatever is so pressing to consume weeks and months at a time without an hour or minute to spare.

Now, if the GM wants me to linger a little longer, I'll go for it. I care about the effort that Beyond Visions and others have put into the game and I'm not so rude to vanish without a trace. But I'm done waiting. I won't be checking this game any more for updates, and I might or might not log on to the site, and I'm going to go find somewhere that people actually play.

@Deserted Best of luck, my friend. I hope you find other people that are worth you time, sorry that we are inconveniencing you Roleplaying career with our petty IRL issues. Best wishes, brother.

@SheriffLlama Do accept my most sincere apologies for respecting your time then.

Look, it is RUDE having people wait on you. I cannot think of ANY situation in which such behavior is to be put up with. I understand that life happens, I myself just had a whole dump-truck of life happen, and I'm sure it outclasses most IRL issues people use as excuses. Nobody noticed because I try to be respectful of people's time and write even if I don't feel the magic. In this case I didn't have to shirk any responsibility, but if I needed to, you can be sure that I would fire off a quick apology and set things up so that people could do their thing without me.

I would feel horrible leaving people to linger indefinitely on me like I'm some sort of celebrity.

@Deserted Level with me here for a moment, and I'll ignore that the fact that you're belittling other people's RL issues.

I might have left if this game was fast paced; but frankly it isn't. I was under the impression that a lot of other people had things withholding them from writing or posting. If I am wrong, I am completely willing to get a post up as soon as I can, even though I didn't think it was necessary for Yazmin to do anything for the time being because all she's doing is fixing a machine.

That being said, I love this game, and I'm more than willing to keep trying, if you and everyone else are.

And if you do decide to move on, I really do wish you good luck, because you seem like a fantastic guy.

I will say that, at the very least, a quick response that takes, like, 5 minutes to type up saying "Hey, I'm still busy, but I'm paying attention and there has been progress" should just be considered common courtesy.

I'd like to keep playing. But playing isn't a once a month extravaganza. That's more like a "Man, I'm bored. I guess I can write something since I don't have anything better to do."

It doesn't matter your real life issues, you can fit in a page of writing even in a hectic life (Heck, people can do it in the middle of combat! I can do it with a 70 hour work week interrupted all night by a new baby. Somehow time magically landed in my lap.) I mean, you've written more in the OOC than it would require to write a post. This isn't some sort of huge commitment I'm asking for here.

As I said, I don't mind that people have real problems, but RL issues are not some sort of trump card. Think about it this way... if you went to a restaurant and ordered, but found out that your chef couldn't get you your food because of some personal life problem, you would probably be annoyed but pretty forgiving. Now, if you have been doing this for years and EVERY chef at at every restaurant you go to fails to deliver your food because of "personal life issues", I'm sure you would call BS. That is where I am at this point, and I'm particularly annoyed because I really like this game and DON'T want to move on.

@TheMadAsshatter Well, sure thing. I have actually been bouncing with some thoughts about how I want to go about GMing for my future roleplays, because I absolutely love creating new stories and to have a small community dedicated to a product of my imagination gives me joy-- We're going on another adventure! But yes, usually that adventure ends so short and so soon before any amount of growth. I will say, that the causal roleplays do better at progression and activity, perhaps because the post are shorter but even the high causal ones with longer post do last longer than your average advanced roleplay (well the advanced roleplays I have GMed for).

So, I've been thinking since, in all honesty, the end does feel near for Carvings of the Galaxy. But that doesn't mean that I won't wait for the collab, but things are really dwindling down. And I wondered if I would ever make another roleplay since they die out so quickly in terms of story line. Then I thought to myself, how about make a roleplay were characters can and will die, so it is encouraged to have multiple characters. I'll do this because usually when one players goes bye-bye forever without notice, everyone is waiting on that one person. But now, if that person doesn't say or do anything, then so does their character go bye-bye either by sort of disappearing from everyone else through being left behind or by them dying. And since most of everyone is having multiple characters, the CS won't be too long and time-consuming but will still look nice as I try to do my best in giving nice visual illustrations to my roleplays. I didn't do this for Carvings of the Galaxy, but I also like to add soundtracks to scenes to give more atmosphere. And as for posts, since I want something that people can type up pretty fast. I say about 300-400 words.

Well, if you really are about to just let this RP die off, let me say that it depresses me how many great original ideas end up just getting thrown away. To think that I had a good feeling about this RP.

@TheMadAsshatter I'm not "just letting this roleplay die off", I specifically said, But that doesn't mean that I won't wait for the collab, but things are really dwindling down. So, I'm more than willing to continue once Rend and Owen come through. Just because I have ideas for future roleplays doesn't mean I'm giving up on this one.

First of all, sorry for hanging on the sidelines while all of this has been blowing up; I should've jumped in sooner. I apologize for making everyone wait, but, to be frank, I'm kind of stuck this shitty limbo we're all in myself.

@DesertedAll your frustrations are legit and totally understandable. I'm not gonna say that I think you went about it the best of ways, but fuck it, you're still right. I feel like it's a safe assumption for all of us to make that if we're all busy with real life stuff then we are, most likely, adults, and if we're adults we should be able to realize that maybe that cool fun game isn't for us because we're busy. Heck, I always limit myself to a few RPs because I know I can't keep up with anymore than that, and I think it's safe to say that the only reason I'm not as vocal about us playing the waiting game is because of those other RPs.

But you seem like a really passionate RPer and I respect the shit out of you for that and I'm sorry that you've been burned by this site so far. And while I want you to stick it out like the rest of us, well, I think it's kind of fucked up for any of us to tell you what to do, all things considered. Whatever choice you make, I'm for it (and for what it's worth, I would like for all of us to see this through too).

I'm sticking around until either the GM closes up shop or nobody posts. Generally that is 2 weeks after "sorry guys been I've been dealing with IRL" by that point almost nobody returns even if the person causing the hang up jumps back in. I always post before ditching so that people don't wait on me just in case I'm wrong.

This one is definitely in the gray area, so I will wait some more I guess.
