@Shadowventus @Nikki Moonlight @KatherinWinter @CreedTheChimera @olcharlieboiMaxie had been ever so slowly trying to inch away from the group as they moved away, talking about the discussion of their weird predicament and getting food. She was listening, but her mind and body seemed like they were in two different places, neither coinciding with each other.
Marathon, the jolly police dog, followed her slow steps, ever unwilling to leave her side. He yipped a bit to try and get her to look at him, but her gaze was fixed to the ground.
She's snapped out of it by an abnormally acute sense of movement around her, and she knew that Taka was dashing towards her a few moments before he got to her, somehow. So spooked by the whole situation, Taka's sudden movements, and a sudden arm around her shoulders, her powers took over for a split second, and...she just hissed at him. Like a cat.
The moment following has Maxie return to her senses almost completely. She slapped her hands over her mouth and her face turned pink. She silently prayed that no one was really paying attention, but she knew it was probably too much to hope for. She already looked almost like a hobo, or some sort of crack addict, she was certain, due to her lack of a living situation. Even still, she lowered her hands and attempted to play off what just happened as if it never did, or wasn't completely insane.
"P-Partner? I...just met you, dude..." Maxie glanced at Taka. Or tried to. It was a known fact that making someone else look weird was a good way to make yourself not look weird. However, being around other people was still getting to her, so she quickly looked for something else to focus on. Luckily, and easy target was right next to her.
"Still tagging along, huh?" Maxie focused back on Marathon, still trotting beside her.
"....Whatever. I hardly care anymore. Just...try not to get me in trouble with the police, alright? Please? My life sucks enough already. I'm sure you can tell."Marathon stared blankly at her for a moment.
...Then went on panting happily, following her still.
Maxie chuckled a little. The dog did make her feel better, but...then she realized that she just had a full conversation with the dog again in front of a bunch of strangers who probably already think she's lost it. She silently cussed herself out, shutting up and following Taka.
