Salem and Malcolm

Malcolm nodded to his fellow Mage before seeing more of the group. He elbowed Salem and both approached. Malcolm saw the wound on Elyra's back and concern washed through his face. Salem however seemed very much distracted by the Shadow. "Woah that was cool. I would love to move more like that. I mean I've practiced in my cell but nothing compares to reality and-" "Salem.....your gushing" Salem blinked then nodded. He moved over to Malcolm and tilted his nodded head at Elyra.

Malcolm bowed somewhat. "Hello I am Malcolm and my furry friend here is Salem." Salem lifted his fingers and did a two fingered salute. Malcolm straightened and gave her a look. He wanted to help her. "Woukd you mind if I took your wound?" odd sounding phrasing, but with the way his abilities work....it's quite literal.

Elyra

Elyra pulled her cloak down carefully and looked at Malcolm oddly. "Take my wounds?" Elyra thought about it for a moment. There were some magi that could take your injuries and heal them but the wound was then on their own body and they had to heal naturally. There were a few of them who could heal their own injuries but not always those given in a magical swap. She asked him. "Who are you and how would taking my wounds into you effect you?"

Elyra could not allow one of their warriors to have this wound. She could heal from it in a couple of weeks but it could cost a warrior their life in a battle if slowed down even a little.

Salem & Malcolm

Malcolm tilted his head and then shook it. "As I said my name is Malcolm. I recieved a vision as I am sure you and the rest here have...and I was also injected with a liquid that is explosive" he studied Elyra for a moment. "I wish to help you. As for what it will do to me...by the look on your face I am fairly certain you already know. However, I believe if I take enough life force from another that I will be able to heal myself." he looked at Salem. "I'm thinking four rabbits."

Salem sighed and pulled down his hood revealing his large feline ears. His black nose twitched somewhat as he inhaled scents. He then ran off supposedly in the direction of some rabbits. Malcolm pulled off his vest then his shirt revealing the odd grey stripes that patterned his skin. "I will have you know....I am very stubborn." he flashed a smile and in moments Salem returned with four squirming rabbits. Salem nodded to Malcolm who then waited for her answer. Though it was clear should she say no that he would keep pushing to heal her.

Elyra

Elyra sighed and nodded since it appeared that it would only be rabbits that would pay the price and then they could still be eaten. She uncovered her back and allowed him to take her wound into himself. As he did she felt the burning pain easing until it was completely gone. Once it was gone she watched him to make sure it healed up on him as well. As the rabbits died she knew he was healing himself. "Thank you. So you were sent to join us."

Elise Shadewater

Collaboration with: @Ashevelendar

Elise looked at the box she had been sent. Inside was a set of armor. The armor was made of leather and by the looks of it, would barely cover the areas that should be covered. She reached out and took the two piece set out of the box. The upper half and the lower half together would leave her arms, her abdomen and her legs completely exposed. She looked dully at it. Wearing it would be like waltzing naked into a battle zone. But she really had no choice. What the Empire gives her, she would take. What it commands of her, she would do. Thoughts of breaking free and choosing death had long been beaten out of her. She was now no more than a slave, the Empire's rabid dog, sent out to incapacitate and manipulate rebels and those the Empire deemed dangerous.

She had no choice. It was either live and do as the Empire commanded or have her heart explode from the explosive device injected into her years ago. She was one of the first few to be ever injected with it. She had witnessed a girl her age die from the explosion and could still remember her screams of pain. Then, that horrible imploding sound... She reached up and rubbed her nape, her fingers feeling the scar where they had injected her.

Her orders now were to put on the armor and appear before His Holiness, Gregory Ascended Templar Markovic.

Another mission. She wasted no time putting on the leather armor. As soon as she was done, she looked down at herself. As expected, the armor didn't really cover much. She sighed and began lacing up her boots.

Dressed and ready, she made her way out of her room. She was met by two Holy Templars outside the door. They escorted her to Markovic's chamber.

Once there, she walked in and bowed her head, a force of habit rather than respect. "You summoned me, Your Holiness," she said.

"Hmph. Mage. You are here, late as usual. You and your bodyguard, I always forget his name, shall join an expedition in the Wasteland. Someone stole something from us and that someone shall need to die. The Emperor decided to send you both with them.

Two horses for you and another 4 for your escorts shall be given to you. Don't let the Empire down. Mage...
"

"If I may be so bold to ask... this Expedition that we shall be a part of... may I know how many comprises the group? How many mages?" she aked.

" You are not sent there to kill the Magi. You are to aid the group. The Emperor demands to have what the group is searching for. An Amulet. Three pieces of it.
I think there are 5 or 6. Something like that. Enough. Too many.
" Gregory shook his head.

Elise nodded. She didn't need any more information than was given. What she needed to know, she will find out when she joins the group. "When shall we depart, Your Holiness?"

" Today. You've got exactly 2 days to get there before they leave. So, go. Fast. "

"Of course," Elise replied as she bowed her head. And then, she waited silently to be dismissed. The first time she had ever met Markovic, she had spoken out of turn and left when she was not yet dismissed. Because of that, she was punished severely. It was a mistake she will never again repeat.

" Also. Mage. Make sure you thwart any attempt at the disabling of the enchantments. For I'm sure they shall try it. Keep an eye on the Magi that were here...the dark human and the half-elf.

Did I made myself understood?
"

"Yes, sire," the mage automatically replied. A dark human and a dark elf. She will keep that in mind.

Gregory smiled. " Good. Dismissed...don't disappoint me. "

"I shall do as you say," she bowed a little lower before she turned and walked away.

Salem & Malcolm

Malcolm nodded and gently took her hand. His lips barely moved and what he said could barely be heard. His eyes began to flow as he took her wound. He winced as his flesh opened and do not release Elyra's hand until her wound was gone. He then looked at Salem who handed him the first bunny. Again his lips barely moved and once more his eyes glowed as he drained the life force from the rabbit. He repeated this with the other three and was left with a faint scar on his back where the wound was. He raised a brow. "Sent...more like forced but yes that is the idea"

Salem placed the now dead rabbits in a pouch he had on his side. He then pulled up his hood to conceal both his face and his chocker/collar. "We were both sent at the same time." he looked around at the group. "Is this everyone?" it was clear he wanted to leave as soon as possible. His black tail twitched as he looked around.

Darius Montgomery/The Shadow

Darius shook his head slightly. As he spoke he looked the new arrivals over.

"There will be more of us soon. We do need to move, but at the moment we need to asses ourselves. Not too long ago the group had visions of our own deaths so caution is the best strategy."

Darius had many thoughts. He had many theories on the new arrivals, and none of them were interesting enough to keep his attention. He felt that if they cause problems they would be easy enough to take care of. But they seemed harmless enough. Not not dangerous, but harmless.

"Did you bring any essentials with you? Are you two fully stocked on everything you need?"

Elyra

Elyra glanced at Shadow when he interjected before she could answer. She stretched and felt no pain in her back muscles any longer. She smiled brightly at Malcolm and reached over and gave him a hug. "Thank you." She put her cloak back on and looked around. "Before you got here there was 8 or 9 of us. Where did James go and Razer?"

"They should all be here soon."

Jamie

@Wick@dabombjk@BlackPanther[@Ashevelender]
Jamie listened as the other talked, leaning against the caravan, staring at Karlos. She gave a sigh, the happiness and amusement from moments before gone as she realized Karlos would be more then angered at Darius. Quite like Maren, :!3 was sure that Karlos would attack once finding out that Darius had killed his friend. And Jamie didn't want to have to use kissing as a control factor for Darius every time someone ticked him off. That was reserved for when she ticked him off. Or when she simply wanted to.

She smiled at her train of thought, but it faded. No, she wouldn't use kissing as a way of stopping Darius killing Karlos. She flipped the knife from hand to hand, as she thought. She glanced about, at the mention that Razor and James weren't there. Jamie liked Razor, he made damn good spicy rabbit. And Jamie liked Elyra, and she seemed quite close indeed to James.

"you should still do some stretches, Elyra. Probably help with your muscles, even if they have been newly healed by magic, new muscles are prone to damage, in my experience. I can teach you some of the ones I do" she smiled at her friend, before introducing herself to the two new members of their group wondering just hope big it was going to get before this mission was over. "I'm Jamie. Thank you for helping Elyra"

Salem & Malcolm

Malcolm raised a brow at the shadow but decided to answer Elyra first. "You are welcome." he then pulled on his shirt and vest. He nodded to Jamie. "Please I want to help. No thanks required from either of you really. I am Malcolm and this is Salem." he then focused on the shadow. "As for essentials....that would be Salem. Salem would you mind?"

Salem huffed. "Yes...yes I would mind but I know you will keep pushing since you showed your abilities." he pulled one of the bunnies from his pouch and the claws on his free hand shot out. He proceeded to skin and gut it. With the guys going into a different pouch. He then handed the meat to Malcolm who put it on a dagger they....borrowed. Malcolm then nodded. Salem held his two paws at a small distance from each other. There was no sign he said anything other then a small twitch of his mouth. Then lightning shot between his two paws and Malcolm put the meat inside the arc of lightning. Malcolm was careful not to get a lot of metal in there and within moments he pulled the rabbit out of the lightning and Salem clapped his paws together stopping the lightning. The rabbit was cooked perfectly. Malcolm chuckled and handed the dagger with the meat to Salem who waited for it to cool for a few moments before taking a bite.

Malcolm tilted his head. "We also discovered Salem is a magnificent thief...and I'm good at distractions" he shot a smile as in he had absolutely no problem admitting this. They even still had most of their coin since they practically avoided the towns.

Elyra

Elyra noticed that James was hanging back more and she figured that maybe he just needed some space. That was okay with her she was upset about her father's impending death. She was keeping close to her cousin and Aelar. With Malcolm and Salem now she was going to get to know them too.

Elyra made a decision. She was not going to dwell on her father's scheduled demise. She couldn't, it just hurt too badly. She had to keep hope that the execution would be cancelled or that the elven community would come together and save him. She just hoped that when they got back that he would be there waiting for her and giving her grief about worrying him so much.

Elyra looked over at Maren and Aelar and she grinned at them. Maren never let anything bother her for long. She envied that in her cousin.

Elise Shadewater & Vladimir Palebrooke

Elise didn't waste any more time. She took her small supply bag she had previously filled with a single change of clothes and rations from the small wooden table in her room, shrouded herself with her black cloak and made her way out into the courtyard. Vladimir stood there waiting for her along with four other soldiers and the horses promised to her by Markovic.

"Ready to set out?" Vladimir asked as Elise walked towards them.

Elise trained her icy blue eyes at her bodyguard and nodded. She walked over to a black stallion and swung herself effortlessly into the saddle. She pulled down the hood of her cloak low on her face to cover it. "Has his Holiness informed you about the individuals that we will be joining in this journey?" Vladimir asked as he swung himself into his own saddle.

Elise guided her horse to a trot. "He has given me his orders and nothing else," she replied.

Her answer was not surprising to Vladimir. He matched her horse's pace, as did their 4 escorts. He automatically filled her in on the information he was privy to. "This expedition group comprises of 5 magi.. William Mortalitas, a Dark Human proficient with death touch and porahas. Aelar Starseeker, a Half Elf with rejuvenate and nature sense. Romarod Vagkar, a Gargantu mage equipped with force palm and kinetic acceleration. Malcolm, a half Dark Human who is skilled in both healing and vampirism and finally, Salem, a Kil'garen who has control over elements... flame and wind."

The female mage nodded her head. "And the non-magi?" she encouraged Vladimir to complete the list.

"Seven. Gun'tar Mala'koral, a gargantu. Jamie, a human. The Shadow...I am certain you have heard about his exploits before. Elyra, an elf and a healer. Razer Brunt, a Kil'garen. James Blackwall, an instructor and a disgraced Templar. Thainar Teasen'rrelyn, a half elf," Vladimir finished enumerating.

James Blackwall. The name snatched at Elise's heart as her mind pulled up several hazy images of a boy. Lately her memories had been getting hazier and hazier but she had always disregarded it. Memories were nothing but a long gone past. It served no good to think of them. She pushed all images out of her head and urged her horse into a full run. They had to catch up to the group and there was no time to waste.

Following her lead, Vladimir urged his own horse forward, his mind on the additional order he had received from Markovic. "If your little mage proves to be difficult, you make take it unto yourself to dispose her off." The words lingered in his head as their horses brought them closer to the group they were to catch up with.

It didn't take too long to finally spot the caravan of the expedition group. Without wanting to delay anyone, both Elise and Vlad decided to ride alongside it, the four escorts trailing behind. Elise kept her face hidden beneath the shadows of her hood while Vlad took the time to study some of the caravan's occupants.

Timeskip : Two days. Location : On the road to the field.

William, Elise, Vladimir, Malcolm & Salem

Collaboration of: @Ashevelendar, @Kyrisse, @BlackPanther

William met with the other two Magi and recognized them from the library. They were the kind of Magi that did whatever the Templar said and never talk much. Malcon and Salem were their names. They talked briefly in these two days but didn't interacted much.
William was getting more and more obsessed with discovering a way to negate their bombs and got blood from everyone except Shadow who didn't want William to cut him.
Of all the new people that joined their group, William was fascinated by the Gargantu Magi. He has seen him in the library but didn't dare interact with the ancient being. So much knowledge in one being. Of course, not so much now because he was imprisoned for far more time than most Magi but even with him he didn't interact much.
Most of his time was eaten up by his constant theories on how to negate the bombs.

Yesterday as he was trying to come up with a solution at night, he went outside his tent to take some air and he saw a lady accompanied by a big human. " That guy looks like trouble " he muttered under his breath. The lady was a mistery for William and decided to go talk with her. If something happens , he can always defend himself or if he cannot...well the others will interfere to protect their lives.

He approached her and bowed his head. " Hello, my lady. I'm sorry to talk with you uninvited but I wanted to tell you that you have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen in my life. "

Elise turned her attention to William but didn't make a move to pull down the hood that still kept her face in shadow. "Thank you," she simply said.

Vladimir, standing only a few feet away, looked at the dark human. While it didn't seem like he posed any danger to Elise, he still didn't want to let his guard down. He sat down on a log and watched them converse. He won't get much out of her. he thought to himself.

William simply nodded. Something was wrong with this woman. " Is something wrong, my lady ? You seem...off. " His face betrayed concern over the woman's well being.

Vladimir knew that the dark human would not be getting any response to his question. And so he decided to intervene. "Elise is not a woman of many words," he said as he stood up. "But I suppose we should introduce ourselves. I am Vladimir Paebrooke and this," he gestured towards Elise. "...is Elise Shadewater."

At the mention of her name, Elise finally reached up and pulled her hood off, the flame of the bonfire reflecting onto her blond hair and making it appear like liquid gold. She turned her cold blue eyes towards William. "We were sent to assist you in your journey,"

William had to stop a few seconds with a blank look on his face before he grinned. " I'm William Mortalis. A pleasure to meet you. Another two persons? By the time we reach the Wasteland we will be a small army of the most powerful..." he stopped and looked around and then continued. " Magi and Templar. in known world...Have you got the bombs , too ? " his face was full of curiosity.

Elise nodded, not bothering to explain that unlike the rest of the group, she had two bombs in her. Vlad, on the other hand, frowned. He still didn't know why he was injected. He was there to act only as Elise's bodyguard after all. "Yes, I'm afraid we were. The Empire certainly has something big planned for our group," he said dryly.

" Yeah...our lives. They need us to do their job and then we all die. As it always happens with whatever the Empire wants.
So...I know one of you is a mage. I can feel it but which one ?
"

Malcolm had seen William walk off earlier and elbowed Salem. salem hissed and Malcolm rolled his eyes before motioning in Williams direction. Salem huffed and the two followed the dark human. Salem however, climbed a nearby tree that concealed himself fully...though if one were to look close enough his green eyes would be somewhat visible. Malcolm approached the group. He went to stand next to William and gave a smile. "WilIam, who are these interesting people?"

"I am," Elise answered William's question straightforwardly just as Malcolm stopped beside the dark human. She, however, didn't look at the newcomer. Instead, she turned her eyes towards the nearby tree, exactly where Salem was. She didn't say anything nor did she give any indication that she can actually see him while he was hidden.

Vladimir returned Malcolm's smile with a small smile of his own. "My name is Vladimir Palebrooke," he gestured towards Elise. "Elise Shadewater." By the way Elise was ignoring all the introductions, he would probably end up saying her name the whole night.

" I'm glad to meet another mage. I didn't saw you in the library, so...have you got no spells ? " said William and then looked at Malcom. " Our new companions. A mage like us " and William pointed at Elise ""and a Templar.
Where is Salem, Malcom ? You two can't go far without each other.
"

Malcolm bowed to the newcomers. "Pleasure, I am Malcolm." he then looked at William and sighed. He lifted his hand and did a gesture. Salem dropped out of the tree and straightened. A limp squirrel was visible in his mouth even though most of his face was hidden by his hood. Malcolm looked at Salem and sighed. "...really" Salem took the small rodent out of his mouth and stuck it into the pouch in his side. "It mocked me." Malcolm rubbed his face before gesturing to Salem. "My furry friend here is Salem" Salem stood next to Malcolm and gave a nod. Black tail flicking back and forth as he stood there.

Elise's eyes tracked Salem's movements even though he still wasn't visible. When he dropped from the tree, the blond woman openly stared at him. "Of course I have spells," she answered William despite having her attention somewhere else. "Salem," she repeated the name as a small smile crossed her lips.

Vladimir's eyebrow shot up when he saw the smile lift the edges of Elise's lips up. "Now, that's a rare sight," he said as looked from Malcolm to Salem.

Elise stood smiling for a few more seconds before walking away without saying anything. "A brief shining moment," Vladimir said as he shook his head. He excused himself and followed after his charge.

William just nodded and looked at Elise again. " Damn she is beautiful " he thought to himself and then left the others and gone back to work.

Malcolm tilted his head at the reaction from Elise. He then looked at Salem who seemed equally confused. Disgust, he was used to. Smiles confused Salem. Malcolm then watched the two leave and looked at Salem. "I have no idea what you managed to do, but you made her smile.' Salem shrugged and the two headed back to join the others. Even with the heavy amount of confusion the two had. "Maybe she thought you were adorable" Salem huffed. "I am fierce. I am not adorable" Malcolm grinned. "Adorably fierce" Salem hissed and started to ignore malcolm.

Jamie

The caravan moved so slowly that Jamie had taken to leaving it behind, always careful to stay within range of the others so as not to bring about any headaches. She didn't particularly trust the caravan scouts, and the freedom to roam where she wanted in the confines of the bomb-link was a heck of a lot better then trailing along like the caravan did.

Besides, there was always the chance that Darius would follow her. And that would be a fun few hours. Jamie was Jamie, and her behaviour hadn't changed much the last couple of days. Each night she came back with a catch, something she had skewered with an arrow. Her hands were healing, and she was pleased about that, grateful for Elyra's ministration. The bruises on her face and stomach had faded, the ones she'd got rescuing Razor were slowly fading as well, and the bath house had done a lot to soothe her sore muscles. Her stretches and exercises helped keep them limber.

Today she was ahead of the caravan again, but stopped at the first brief sign of a headache, and stood for a time scanning the area, at any sign of movement, she would knock an arrow in case it was game or something seeking to hunt them. After a while though, she drew her sword, going through some basic exercise, she thought back on what Karlos had told her.

"I've never fought a fighter as good as you and I think you have the potential to be better than anyone, you just have to keep going."

Well, that was one thing Jamie had going for her. She was damn stubborn and never gave up. Perhaps one day that would get her killed but she would be damned if she wouldn't go down fighting. As she moved smoothly through some drills, Jamie let her mind go blank, letting her senses roam, listening to everything about her, still aware of her surroundings.

There were only a few things that made Jamie truly happy, and holding her skinny sword, using it, was one of them. Her family and friends were another. And Darius had rapidly become a third, in a league of his own. She didn't truly know why she cared for him in anyway. Maybe it was simply the challenge of it all. She knew Elyra thought she was stupid because of that, yet Elyra couldn't have a clear perspective on that. Jamie had figured out, based on Maren's response. Which reminded her. She had so far managed to keep karlos away from Darius, but that wouldn't last forever. Sooner or later, Karlos would learn that Darius was responsible for his friends death.

Troubled at that, Jamie lowered her blade, slipping it back into its sheath, she pulled the knife from its place on her calf. She traced the inscribed letters, glancing up and flicking the knife from hand to hand. She gave a sigh, and started to walk again, judging that she had waited lon enough to let the caravan draw closer.

Elyra

Elyra looked around at her companions. Maren and Aelar seemed to never stop chatting with one another. She looked at James and wondered what he was thinking. Something seemed to be on his mind. She walked over to him as they continued and she slipped her hand into his and smiled when she felt him squeeze her hand. She noticed that the caravan included a few who had been assigned to join them.

Elyra was a little unsure of this newest mage and her bodyguard. He was nice enough and good looking enough but her thoughts were plagued with the idea that there was something between her and James in the past. She figured that was what was distracting James. All she knew was that she didn't like it.

James Blackwall

As he walked alongside the caravan, James had long retreated within his thoughts. With the arrival of new party members, he had grown increasingly weary of threats they could present, to both him and Elyra. It was an unusual thought, having someone to care for. He'd forsaken the ideal four years ago...

There was something about the newest arrival, the mage Elise Shadewater, that pricked in his mind, screaming for him to recognise... something about her. He had seen little beyond her voice and a brief flash of her face, yet it echoed within his memory in a way that worried him. His darkened train of thought was broken by a soft hand slipping into his own, which he gave a light squeeze to put Elyra's mind a little more at ease.

He looked up, further down the road they were travelling, before he briefly looked at Elise and Vladimir. His eyes narrowed a little, especially as he felt the suspicion that they were hiding something, before he turned back to the front. Whatever it was, it could wait until they were free of Markovic's mess.

Elise & Vladimir

Elise walked away from the bonfire and settled herself on a fallen branch at the foot of a large birch tree. Being surrounded by too many people unsettled her, bringing memories of torture and screams into her mind. It was best to keep away from everyone. She was here only to assist, after all. Making friends seemed so useless.

"You are to aid the group," was Markovic's words. Assist this group while they walk into the Wasteland, she found herself thinking. That was as good as telling her to give up her life for them. Her proficiency in the higher healing arts would ultimately drain her of her life. Traveling through the dangers of the Wasteland would no doubt put them in danger. Danger almost always translates to injuries. And the more everyone was injured, the more she would need to intervene. If one from the group dies, she and Vladimir would die as well. If she kept them all alive, she would definitely kill herself. It was a no win situation. Ultimately, all roads will lead to her death. "And so I shall," she muttered softly to herself.

Vladimir settled down beside Elise, his weight weighing down his side of the branch, making Elise's feet lift off the ground a few inches. "Seems like you have taken a liking to that Kil'garen," he said.

"These are the people who will eventually end my life. There is no sense for me to like any of them," Elise responded in the same detached tone she always used when conversing with others.

"Take your life? I shall be beside you to protect you. No one will---" Vladimir began.

"You know what I mean, Vladimir." Elise cut him off.

Vladimir's words died on his lips. She was right. He knew very well what she meant. "If your little mage proves to be difficult, you make take it unto yourself to dispose her off" Markovic's voice echoed in his head again. He sighed as he rubbed the arm where he had been injected a few days ago. At first he had thought that Elise was to be disposed off once they had finished their mission. But having been injected with a bomb himself, he found that his perspective changed completely. The Ascended Templar did not mean for both of them to return alive.

He looked at the mage, at her cold, dull blue eyes. Ever since he had met her, it didn't seem as though she had any will to live but she had always fought with all that she had to bring each mission to a success. He needed to protect her and make sure both of them make it out of this mess alive.

"He is... interesting," Elise's quiet voice broke through Vladimir's thoughts.

Vladimir raised an eyebrow and gave a low chuckle. "I already assumed you thought that way if he managed to make you smile. You should do that a lot more often. It makes you look prettier."

Elise looked at Vladimir. Her eyes had the same dull look but it seemed like her guardian's words made a bit of an impact on her. But, again, without saying anything, she turned her gaze away from him. Her eyes fell on an elf and a human just a few feet away. They were walking hand in hand.

Hazy memories of a boy looking at her flashed through her mind. That last look that he gave her when she was struck down. She never knew what happened to him and spent several years thinking about how he had just watched while she died. But the time she spent being experimented on and being tortured made his face almost completely forgotten. Memories of her past life became something like a far off dream and she sometimes questioned if they were even real.

But now, there he was, in the flesh. Everything seemed to become clearer. She immediately averted her gaze. But his face and name remained in her mind.

collab between @dabombjk@caits

Darius walked along with the caravan and the group. keeping his eyes peeled and his instincts open. He kept his weapons sheathed, but he was ready to draw on a moments notice. But he was oddly relaxed. Even more so than usual. Darius looked ahead and saw, and felt from the headache, that Jamie was scouting ahead. He knew as the assassin he should too, but for some reaosn he did not feel like......mingling. He realized spoke more, and felt more, during this contract than he has ever felt or talked in his life. At least in this short amount of time span.

Darius seperated from the group slightly, moving halfway in the distance between the caravan and Jamie, and pulled out a small brown leather bound journal. He opened it and began reading it slightly, still glancing at his surroundings slightly.

As time went by, Jamie figured she should begin making her way back to the caravan, never truly knowing where they'd end up camping that night. She started back the way she had come, glancing about her constantly, she was ready to bring down some fresh meat, she spied what looked to be a rabbit hole, and where there was a rabbit hole, there was rabbits. Crouching, she glancing about the hole, searching for any sign of rabbit. A quick movement caught her eye, and she turned slightly, letting an arrow fly where the rabbit should end up, grinning to herself when it landed.

Walking over to claim the rabbit, she checked the arrow over, and then continued back towards the Caravan. She slowed, curious as she saw Darius reading something.

Darius noticed Jamie as she walked through his little bubble. Darius looked up, nodded at Jamie, then walked forward a bit and angling his journal so it could not be seen by looking over his shoulder.

Jamie was even more curious about what he was reading, but decided to leave it be. For now. If Darius wanted her to know, he would let her know. No point trying, she already knew where that would get her. Besides, Some things were more interesting when you had to figure them out. She pondered for a moment, but for the moment, he had her stumped in going with her normal mode of attack. So instead she walked closer, and said "Using a book as a shield? that's interesting"

Darius barely looked at Jamie, but instead just gave a rather soft sigh and took a side step away. He slightly closed the journal, so that he could only read the left page. Darius hard a hard time reading and watching his surroundings and making sure Jamie stayed out of his buisness si he shut the journal and pocketed it. Right before he closed the journal an almost purple light seemed to emit fromt the journal, not bright or large light more or less a slight change in color as purple letters and symbols filled the page. But as quickly as it appeared Darius had shut it and pocketed it.

Darius looked at Jamie, then looked forward.

Jamie gave a sighed at Darius's demeanor, while it wasn't unexpected of his nature, she couldn't say she wasn't dsiappointed. Not wanting to risk injury again, Jamie gave a shrug and said "Well then, I'll just continue back to the caravan" The dolice tone was quite abnormal to her, and she was surprised it didn't sound rusted.

She moved around, and took a few steps back towards the caravan, but stopped and turned back around. "Damn it, Darius!" jamie wasn't made to be subdued. So she did what she always did, and threw caution to the wind, and she moved back towards Darius, closing the distance in two strides, and she moved quickly, to kiss him hard and fast.

Darius, in the past, always reeled back or reacted poorly when Jamie kissed him. And this kiss was no less intense. Darius willed himself to stand strong and not give in. He recieved Jamies kiss, but he pulled away after a few seconds. He ran his hands through his hair slightly rougher than normal.

"Please refrain from using my name. It is a closely guarded secret."

Darius felt the journal tremble in his pocket and softly patted his pocket.

"Unless you have a greivance against me now?"

Jamie hadn't even been aware that she had used his name, which she knew was probably dangerous, but right then she didn't care. She stepped back, a little surprised at the anger she felt. She curled her hands, her fingers running over the still healing cuts as she did so.

"I'm always bloody careful, I've never used it, and there's no one around here!" While she wanted to yell, she kept her voice low, yet if a tone could kill, she might come very close to it. "Have I shown any sort of grievance towards you? Have Is I shown any willingness to betray any secret?"

She shook her head, furious now. "Everytime there's even the tiniest crack in that hard shell of yours, you freak and close up. What more do I have to do? Screw you?oh no wait, already did that. Why go distant again? And don't give me that crap about being a deadly assassian, I already know all that you've said it so much"

Jamie let her voice trail off, she could feel her heart racing in her anger.

Darius walked silently with Jamie as she spoke, simply listening. When Jamie finished speakingm the journal began trembling again stronger than before. Darius pulle dout his journal and flipped open to what would seem to any random person a random page. Darius ran his eyes over the writing on it, then closed it and pocketed it.

Darius kept his eyes forward, and pondered what to say. He knew nothing he could say really besides him confroming to what she wanted could make this right. And it was true, he realized he became more withdrawn again. But......he was very conflicted. His orders were simple, he had his objectives, and this wasnt one of them. And what of when this was over? Darius had a thought. Darius looked at Jamie.

"Tell me something, and please understand I am trying to be as coherent and complient as possible and I am in no way trying to be diffucult I simply have a few questions. What do you make of us after the mission? What do you see when you look at the indivisuals in our group that you have befriended? I, Karlos, Elyra, Maren, James? The others?"

The question caught Jamie off guard. But she found she had a response quite quickly, and easily. Her tone softened slightly, and she looked away, speaking quietly now. "I see people, outside my parents, my brother, who might actually give a damn if I like or die. I see people I can trust. People who...people who are actually people, and have their own...beliefs, that isn't what the citadal wants. People I can care about. I don't even know what will happen tomorrow, but...I know I won't be going back into the citadal's service, and if that makes me a rogue, then so be it. Because then at least I'll be...free"

Darius shook his head.

"That isnt what I asked. Very lovely thought, but what I want to know is what do you believe will happen to those you have grown close to in our group? What will they do after the mission, or what will the mission do to them when its finished?"

Jamie frowned, her mind going William, and the other mages. "That depends, a lot on whether or not we can destroy the bombs, and the trackers the citadel has burdened us with. If that can be done...the mages will lead a different life. On the run, no doubt, but they'll still have a better life then they did at the citadel. Elyra and Maren...if its true Elyra's father has been executed, then they'd have some fall out to deal with. James would probably follow Elyra. I don't know about Gun'tar. I don't particular like him. Razor and Karlos...I don't know, who knows maybe they'll overcome their differences and become a team" She shrugged, "The misson will do whatever it wants to us."

Darius raised an eyebrow.

"And you said that would be surrounded by loved ones?Is that the epilgoue to your part of this mission? and what of me? What shall I be doing or what will become of me? What is my epilogue and please do not say its whatever I choose. I wish to sincerely know."

"You don't have to be surrounded by loved ones to know they are there. After the mission...well. I might follow something Karlos said to me" She shrugged, falling silent, trying to figure out what to say. "Well. I don't know. Because it...could go a couple of different ways. You can choose not to be changed by this mission, which is going to change us all one way or another, and continue as you always have, or be changed, and perhaps for the first time guide your own changes and be a...more well rounded person. I'd..."

She trailed off, hesitating, briefly feeling like this was some sort of test, before she continued. "I'd prefer the latter, no matter what happens in the mission, what...what becomes of whatever this is, it would be comforting to know you aren't merely a tool anymore" She spoke quite honestly.

"An honest answer, I was sure you were going to give me a wanting answer. Thank you. So my next question, now that I know what you think will happen after I would like to know why do you think we were all chosen in this group? Was it coicidence that all of us are here, people who have have grudges against specific people in the group, who have fallen in love basically already? And why do you think I havent already found a way to disable the bombs, and trackers?"

Darius smiled at this shocking revelation. It was a dangerous thing to say, and while he wasnt lying, there were so many strings attached it was unbelievable. And it couldnt be done on the spot, without preperation, without consequences for everyone. But still...........at the end if they were threatened.......

They had already all discussed why they were chosen, but there hadn't be a conclusive answer. She frowned, "I think, in one way or another, we were all chosen because we all annoyed the citadel enough to be sent away on a mission they expect us to die from.

I don't really believe in coincidences. But I doubt the citadel thought they were being nice or mean throwing people together. They just wanted us gone. That's why the put the bombs in so quickly, so we'd have no choice but to agree."

She glanced over at the question about the trackers. "Because William said its not possible to disable the trackers from far away. He said we'd need the blood samples they have at the citadel to make that possible. We talked at length about that, and his knowledge is sound. So if you've found a way, that's a big thing, and you'd still have to talk with him about it. He's testing my blood with his, so we don't blow ourselves up"

Darius realized that this was nothing new, but at the same time he did not like the fact that someone had Jamies blood.

"My way is for emergencies only, so it isnt worth discussing. My third, and pretty much final question, is this. We have talked about what you believe will happen and what is happening. What of what has happened........no..no that isnt what I want to ask."

Darius pondered how he was going to say his next words.

"Your strong. But it is more than that. Its your will, you have a will that could move a mountian. With proper training, more worldy experience, and time you could be the best. Someday better than me even. Someday. You have gotten so far, on your own path. Not so much different than me. But your light, and I am darkness. In a normal and magic free realm, you represent the better parts and me the opposite."

"So my question is, If I cant be changed then what will you do? What will you do if when this is over and if we go our seperate ways, you are one day ordered to bring me in? To eliminate me? To rid the world of my plague? Will me wearing this shell you spoke of have been such a bad thing?"

Darius's words echoed Karlos's still bouncing around her mind. The...was it a compliment? She didn't know, was quite...it threw her off balance for a moment or two. She pondered his words, and then pondered her own. And then, oddly enough, she smiled slightly. "You do realise that merely asking that question shows even a small amount of change. No one really questions if they can or can't be changed.

But I'll answer it all the same"
. She drew a breath, and looked down at her hands, thoughtful, the smile fading as she contemplated her answer. "You say I'm light. Yet the mere fact that you ask that question shows that you aren't sure what I'd do. Someone that is good, wouldn't really hesitate if they were asked to bring in, take down, someone perceived as bad. They might struggle with the idea of it, the action of it, but good's there to defeat the bad, isn't it?

I was once ordererd to bring in a young mage. I don't even know how she was out of the citadel's grasp, or how they even knew of her. But she was with some truly....truly evil people. I don't know how they got a hold of her, or what they were going to do. But I know what they did to her, and I know I wasn't fast enough, not that saving her would have be any better, if I'd given her to the citadel. Right then, I did what I thought was right. And I still do think it was right. I wouldn't say it was the good thing to do. I wanted to draw out their suffering, as they did the girls.

There's a difference between doing the right thing and following orders. Sometimes...following orders is the wrong thing. If the citadel ordered me...Well, they won't because I won't go back to them. So, then its my decision. You haven't given me a reason to take you down yet, so why would I?. Maybe I am light. But even light cast's shadows"

Darius sighed at Jamies words, unsatisfied with part of her answer. But overall he mentally punished himself, knowing full well that he asked hard to answer questions rather suddenly. Darius looked back at the caravan, then back at Jmaie. They were far enough away in his mind. He leaned in to Jamie and kissed her as they walked.

"I do not.....have experience with women. You were my first. Seduction was a poor rare tactic in my trade. I do not know how we will......go from here, but for now, for this mission, I will act in accordance with......special....bond. I believe that was the right wording."

Darius frowned ever so slightly.

"But you need to know, I am...who I am. I belong to the darkness, and I will end up hurting you in the end. I cannot be helped. It cannot be stopped. I have come to realize I do not wish to hurt you, but events are in motion."

Jamie found herself more then pleased when Darius kissed her. She listened as he spoke, not particularly suprirsed at his words. She figured she had both baffled and frustrated him enough to know that he had limit or no experience with woman. Still, it was oddly reassuring for him to tell her.

"Sometimes being hurt lets you know it was worth it." She decided not to point out that she was old enough to know when something might hurt. Nor the fact that the fact that he was doing this, showed that he could indeed be helped. Why ruin it? "Well, That's just what i believe" She smiled, "Because otherwise, its just normal life, and this isn't normal"

Darius shrugged and dropped his guard. He held out his hand, free for Jamie to intertwine her hand in.

"If our lives are wrong though I do not want to be right. Our lives are...well exhilirating."

Thainar Vladimir Elise

Collab between myself and @Kyrisse

Thainar had been observing the group as they journeyed other than basic introductions not interacting much with anyone. The newest two members were both people he recognized, a mage named Elise and a templar named Vladimir. He had been the one to make the base for Elise's enchanted ring as well as Vladimir's weapons. They were only able to get weapons made specifically for them because of their special position in the citadel. He had not interacted with Elise much but he would interact with Vladimir relatively regularily, either modifying his weapons or repairing his equipment. Seeing them walk away from the group he approuched them. "They sent you two as well? They must really value this missions success." He said to Vladimir as he got closer.

Vladimir looked up when Thainar approached. He immediately recognized him from their constant interaction back in the Citadel. He stood up and approached the half elf and clasped his hand in a friendly manner. "Thainar. I heard you were part of this group. It looks like you're doing well," he greeted. At the mention of the mission's success, he gave Elise a quick glance. She seemed to be preoccupied with studying some of the other members of the group. "With Elise around, this mission will be a lot more easier. But since we are headed towards the unknown dangers of the Wasteland, I'm afraid we'll have a run for our money even if we are here." He nodded towards the caravan. "I am sure we have a lot more capable companions in this group, you included, of course."

" That is for certain not only do we have two of the most skilled fighters in the Citadel, we have the Shadow, as well as the largest gathering of magi out of the Citadel since before it was built. While the Wasteland is dangerous I am not worried about our safety I am most worried about the thief and the amulet pieces." He sat on a nearby stump as he spoke.

"It will not be too difficult to pick up this thief's trail if he is a magic wielder," Elise said in her detached tone of voice.

Vladimir nodded. "That is true," he agreed. "This mission is almost the same as the ones we have been sent to. Track down magi, retrieve an artifact or incapacitate rebels. Of course, none of them has ever stolen something as important as this amulet seems to be. And none of them we needed to chase through the Wasteland..." he stopped when he realized that he had not introduced the mage to his friend. Elise would definitely not introduce herself. "Where are my manners? Thainar, this is Elise Shadewater, a mage..." he chuckled. "I'm sure you already know that and you've seen her several times in the Citadel." He turned to Elise. "Elise, this is Thainar Teasen'rretyn. He is the one who made the base of that ring you are wearing."

"Oh?" Elise looked towards Thainar. "Thank you. It has served me well to serve the Empire."

Smiling at Elise's shortwindedness Thainar said "It was nothing all I did was make the ring using materials compatible with the enchantments placed on it. I am glad it has been of use." Turning to Vladimir, "How are your weapons been holding up, I believe it is around the time you usually come to me to have them reinforced."

Elise nodded and fell back to silence. Whatever she was thinking did not show on her face.

Vladimir, on the other, hand pulled one of his swords out of the scabbard that hung on his waist. He placed the blade on the palm of his hand. "Yes, I had originally planned on visiting you before we were summoned and sent on this mission. Would you mind having a go at them on your most opportune time?"

Taking the sword from Vladimir he began inspecting it as he said, "Of course I can in fact I could do it now it would take me but a moment to set up my forge." Noticing that the blade had some almost unnoticible cracks he said "These need immediate attention the blade is starting to get micro-cracks while it doesn't mean the blade will break it does reduce their ability to cut by absorbing impact force." Thainar began unpacking his forge moving away from the tree as he set it up. [color=8c92ac]"You can watch if you'd like but it is quite boring to do so." he said to Vladimir.

Vladimir nodded. "I'm afraid it's twin is in a worse condition," he pulled out his other sword and showcased the blade to Thainar. A long crack marked its entire length. "You have no idea how glad I am that you are here, Thainar. I'll watch while you work," he said and again made a quick glance towards Elise.

But the mage obviously did not want to watch weapons being reinforced. Even before Vladimir could glance towards her, she had already stood up from where she was sitting and wandered off.

Romarod

Following along with the rest of the group, showing a bit of curiousness scanning each individual. Still quiet and to himself, not particularly looking to have a conversation, this young gargantu just took in the scenery they were in. He figured that he wouldn't really do much unless he's asked to assist in anything but he wondered if there was any reward for him after this?

Romarod knew there were other magi among them but....what were they capable of. being caged for so long, he really didn't know much about the other races in the outside world and what they were special at. besides his recent dislike of treatment from his own kind, Romarod was going to try and be an asset. he had to admit, even though he was not very talkative...some of the women in the group, he thought were quite pretty...but would they even give this big bastard a chance...could they handle this behemoth?
