Prince of Luck | 16 | male | Moon Prince
Nationality:New Zealander
Appearance:Asher is practically the embodiment of the 'tall, dark, and silent' trope. Or he would be, if he wasn't barely reaching average in the hight department, and his hair wasn't a mop of bright red messy fluff, complemented by his pale skin and sharp forrest eyes. His typical wardrobe consists of a collection of fairly simple clothes; block coloured shirts, dark pants, plain jackets or hoodies, and scuffed-up second-hand military boots.
transformed he has ginger-orange hair falling to his shoulders, large pale green eyes that dominate his face, a small nose and a perpetually pouting mouth. His outfit is made up of a long white coat with gold trim and a high collar, a dark shirt that doesn't cover his stomach much to his disgust, black formal pants, and tall multi buckled boots. (That he is so glad he doesn't have to physically pull on and off)
Personality:Asher won't start or join a conversation unless it's too good a topic to pass up, or someone invites him, as he's always worried that the other person is only listening and replying to be polite. It's never really occurred to him that there could be people who genuinely want to talk to him, even perhaps listen to what he has to say. Despite this fact Asher actually enjoys a good discussion, and will fully engage in conversations; animating his words with vivid hand gestures and expressions.
While he will be perfectly polite to classmates, strangers, and acquaintances (which is all classmates really are), Asher will slowly become more warm and cheerful towards you if you get to know him. His loyalty, once earned, is not something to scoff at, for the fierceness and dedication with which he will defend those lucky few he considers his friends could rival that of a mother protecting her children.
Quite fanciful, he has an amazingly vivid imagination, although he's also a bit naive as well, and like to think the best of people. Asher is capable of selling a complete baldfaced lie to almost anyone, but only when his conscience lets him; he feels that just because he
can lie convincingly doesn't mean he should. It also means that when he does actually lie it is convincing as he isn't know for lying.
When it comes down to it he has a stubborn streak a mile wide, and a habit of digging his heels in and refusing to budge.
For him fighting shadows is less about protecting the world, and more about keeping his few safe, and he will destroy every last Shadow single handedly if thats what it takes.
Although he doesn't have quite enough Hubris to make him think he can eradicate Shadows alone, (it hasn't happened in any of the previous generations, why would that change now?) and so he doesn't see the point in all the infighting between Princes, they're all working towards the same goal, right?
Magical Weapon:A scythe. sorry. A magic scythe. (duh.) Asher's scythe, (which is a terrible, clichéd weapon thanks) stands taller than him, with a curved arm length blade. It doesn't feel heavy to Ash, but any strike or swing will still have the full force and weight of a six foot tall metal scythe behind it. (which is REALLY off-putting when learning to fight with the thing!)
An alternate form is a pair of mini scythe-like knives, with blades about the size of a machete, that can be wielded together, or completely separate. (They aren't any good for throwing though, far to likely to become a disastrous boomerang.) the two short sickles have a locking mechanism on the base of their handle letting them be interlocked and turned into a wicked double bladed……… thing.
Magical Abilities:Pure luck. (Which isn't really an ability.)
Asher is extraordinarily lucky, which sounds like a good thing.
Except. He might have more luck than anyone ever, but it's not all
good luck.
For him things either go amazingly right, or disastrously wrong, often in sets.
He can however call on that luck to tilt things in his favor, whether it be the roll of a die or avoiding/delivering a fatal blow in battle. He's also able to give others luck, good or bad, but calling on luck always results in a string of bad luck for himself afterwards.
Illusions & Dopplegangers
Asher can create a doppleganger of himself, a perfect, if slightly faded physical representation that can take his place. He capable of creating one that can interact with the world around it, and three that are merely impressive illusions.
The illusions cannot interact with reality, they look real, but there is nothing there. They can serve as a good distraction or confusion. Asher can also 'borrow' their senses to explore or scout out a place, helpful if he thinks he's gonna walk into a trap. The illusions on their own have only a slight drain of power, and he can currently hold a single illusion for five minutes tops, less for each illusion he adds, although his total limit of illusions is currently three.
The doppleganger is capable of simple tasks; attack her, defend him, protect us, carry this, and while it may have a few ways of going about theses missions; sneak attack from behind or a straight charge attack, anything complex is more than it's capable of. In a time of crisis, or impending doom, Asher can switch out with his doppleganger. He's not quite sure if it works like teliportation, or if it's just the soul and memories that get transferred, but either way he ends up where the doppleganger had been, and it takes his place. This particular piece of magic however, is rather costly, as he has to already have the doppleganger in play, and the expended magic is fairly large.
If anyone tries to interact with any of the illusions they will be dispelled, same thing for the doppleganger if it gets 'killed'
A dispelled illusion/doppleganger cannot be re-summoned the same night.
Strengths:Multitasking, close combat,
Weaknesses:anything long ranged,
Biography:How on Earth did he end up here? Ok, that was a rhetorical question, albeit one he keeps asking himself. Asher knows exactly how he ended up here, although he's not quite sure what he did to deserve any of this.
Asher had a normal life as the middle child of three. He and his sisters were close in that fighting one minute, laughing the next that only siblings seem to have. School was boring, but Asher had a small handful of close friends that made sitting through class and doodling worth it.
It was a surprise when his lovely, if mediocre, life was tipped upside down when his mother shipped him and his older sister off to live with their father in Tanzaku City, citing that they 'weren't her problem anymore'.
Their father was nice, but nearly never home, leaving Asher and Liz practically stranded in a foreign country, where they know maybe six words to speak and have even less of an ability for reading.
He knows for a fact that the two of them were considered rude freaks and weirdos at the first school they attended; armed as they were with only a crash course, and a few dozen internet searches, on Japanese language and culture.
They lasted almost a term before being transferred. Asher's approach this time was to keep his head down, avoid attention, and just work his way through school, not that he talked much anyway, but people barely glance at the quiet kid at the back of the class, let alone pay them full attention. He joined the art club thanks to a classmate who got a look at one of his sketches, and he's still not sure how he ended up part of the theater club, or how it relates to his plan of surviving school unnoticed.
It was shortly before they transferred schools that a Shadow started plaguing Liz, fueling and feeding off her negative emotions. Asher could glimpse only the faintest impression of it, but had no idea of what it was, or if there was anything he could do about it. He wasn't there when it was eradicated, so he doesn't know who destroyed the Shadow, but when he found out he was someone who could do the same, he jumped at the chance. He still has very little clue about being a Cosmic Prince, as they are apparently called, but he is trying his best. Even if he is so not impressed his alternate form, (who even wears clothes like that?) or his weapon. (Honestly do you know how hard it is to fight with a scythe?!)
