@Lonewolf685@PKMNB0Y
I'll have a post here around this Friday, or Saturday at most. Just keeping ya'll informed. Oh? PK, would it be ok if I had Atalanta take on Kintoki on a arm wrestling match and defeat him? Since her Aesthetics of the Last Spurt is derived from the times she bested people with her smarts (like on the footrace and when she wrestled Peleus), I think that should be possible and would be a good beginning to approach them for a team up. Either way, it's your call on that. She'll put an effort regardless of being able to win or not.

By the way, @Beloss, Walgrave is better to be careful. Atalanta is likely to try to kill him in the first chance she has, without telling anyone, after that discussion he had with Richard. The risk of having Walgrave around is much higher than the benefit it can bring, at this point.

I'm just letting this be known on the OOC so that it doesn't come out of the blue when she does that IC.

That's not the wisest claim to make immediately after he makes an alliance with an Assassin.

Not that Richard would really shed a tear if Walgrave died, but the loss would be to his detriment in some regards.

@KoL oh nuts, I was composing my post just as you posted. 😑

Ah,I forgot she was going to arm wrestle to. This is going to be a sad day for Sinfijoltli. For Kintoji though, would it really be able to gulf such a huge difference? I mean even a paranormal Servant skills should have practical limits.

For walgrave let's talk about this a bit, it's fine of course but I do have a few questions. I'm writing on my phone right now and it's shitty so I will continue this latter.

I can certainly think of other games, when I take the time to write.

That's where the part of not telling anyone comes from. Kinda like on the EXTRA Dead End where Robin Hood ambushes you regardless of his Master wanting it or not. That's where the Archer's skill of Independent Action gets really useful.

Err... I don't think you're going to outsmart someone in arm wrestling. O_o

It may surprise you but there are actual arm wrestling techniques. Nevertheless, I admit that Atalanta has very few chances of defeating Kintoki in a contest of strength, given the difference in their parameters.

"You" as in "Atalanta". Not with the way that skill is worded. @_@

If she weren't busy I'd have Tamamo defeat every male Servant at arm wrestling. All she needs is one arm, generous cleavage to distract them, and a foot to kick them in the crotch while they are focused else where.

Of course, this isn't a fair victory, but what can they expect from a Caster~?

Don't worry, before I attempt to do this I'll be sure to communicate it properly. Plus, there's always the chance of someone, say... Jekil trailing her when Atalanta goes to a sniping position and either talking Atalanta out of it, or fighting with her. Because, let's be frank, having one of the three best Archers of the Age of the Gods in a position where she can snipe the whole battlefield and not be countered is not something that those untrustworthy masters would allow to. It would only end like that Ataraxia segment where EMIYA wins the HGW by sniping everyone from that skyscraper. The right way for an Archer to do things, but not the funny one.

There's still time to think what should happen, but it's not like I'm gonna have her insta kill anyone, that's never my style.

@KoL: Yeah, uh... I'm pretty sure that's not how Aesthetics of the Last Spurt works. I thought it was more a thing of speed, and when paired against brute strength that just keeps going up...
Plus the giant gap in parameters and the rank of the skill in question...

I don't think that works.

@KoL Alrighty wunderbar. Still a few questions, but again I'm on a phone.

For Last Spurt its a weird situation for it. We do know that Servant Skills can be quite potent especially legend specific ones. This is a stretch application for it though, and she is a long way behind Sinfijolti not to mention Kintoki. I'm not even sure I concede out of hand that she would beat Sinfi, though it might be very close... two full strength ranks is a lot to gulf.

Oh, sure. No problem.

Then again, it's more about having the spirit to compete than necessarily to win.

Well, the skill's wording seems to necessitate letting the other person take action or get an advantage first. Given the contest in question, that's a great way to lose. XD

So, what is the verdict here? Does Last Spurt give Atlanta greater strength in this situation or not? I'm fine with it bringing her up to B for this upcoming contest. Maybe we should flip a coin for who actually wins though or something?

@KoL
So my question for Atlanta deciding to whack Walgrave; from listening in to that conversation most of it was predicting that other people would at a latter point start betraying and that they should prepare for that day. Now obviously he comes off as a total shyster, and strongly implies that he will start assassinating people also. A lot of what he said though I think was pretty reasonable for someone who has no reason to suspect that most of the people around them are actually pretty decent.

Atlanta herself really does not have much reason to trust anyone in the room. Walgrave tells about how Zelretch has a reputation for crippling people he works with, and Montag finds this point plausible and agrees to his basic proposal in the end. That should be a red flag that at least some of what he said had merit.

Anyway, my specific question is, wouldn't listening in on that conversation induce more of a general suspicion on everyone present? With a focus on Walgrave, Montag and Zelretch yeah, but still everyone else as well. Plus Atlanta knows that Medea is in the house. The one she had a worried reaction to earlier. Shouldn't she be just as if not more concerned about her?

In the past twenty minutes or so Atlanta has run into or heard about 6 difrent possible traitors. Zeldrech, Medea, Walgrave, Montag and both their Servants. Before too long she is going to learn that Medea has taken Diarmuid for herself, so make that 7. If she is resolved to kill anyone who is a threat to the mission shouldn't she be making a huge hit list at this point? Probably with Medea at the top of it?

Seems just a tad early to resolve that Walgrave is the number one target here.

Sooooooo, am I going to have to shelf Margarita or find her another Servant, cause no one has responded to her in two weeks. Pretty sure Vita isn't on this RP anymore, though don't know about Raineh and Rin's intentions.

@Beloss

The skill doesn't rise Atalanta's parameters, it's like @Raineh Daze said. A skill meant for countering others after letting them have a short momentary advantage. I really think that it'll not be enough to make out the difference in arm wrestling. Normal wrestling would be more balanced in her favor, since it's already based on countering to redirect your opponent's strength against them.

Either way...

As for Walgrave, the reasoning is simple. He was the one that proposed the deal, making his malice evident first. Of course Atalanta is wary of everyone's there. I even commented on how she knows that this kind of expedition tends to have a bad end for most of those involved in it. The thing is that she's more likely to trust Medea than anyone else, since Atalanta has a debt with the Witch of Colchis and was also a victim of the Argo expedition. That said, she knows that Medea would sell her mom for revenge, as long she doesn't spite Medea it should be safe to be around her.

The magi are a bunch of snakes in Atalanta's view, of course, but she has base to believe that Walgrave is a dangerous one to have around, much more than any other. Considering that Archers are known to do as they think is best, even when told the contrary (unless a command seal is used, of course), it's not OOC for her to kill him if she gets the chance. For an example of an Archer doing similar things, just check how Robin Hood assassinates Hakuno on F/E, despite Dan telling him to not do any underhanded move, but not enforcing it with a Command Seal, on one of Extra's Bad Ends.

@KoL Alrighty then. At some point we will have a right propa footrace though.

For Walgrave, fair enough. At this early point in the story Walgrave has no way of even remotely suspecting that Atlanta has his number already, so, depending on how early she tries to off him I may try to do a 'Sheer blind luck' event to have him survive the first attempt. Depending on how plausible it is of course. Otherwises he's pretty much a sitting duck until he has some reason to suspect that someone is actively targeting him.

Actually, for footraces Atalanta doesn't even need that skill to win. Atalanta was the fastest mortal of the Age of the Gods on Typemoon lore, so she can outrun anyone without even needing Aesthetics of the Last Spurt to win. Which is actually why I wondered what to do of that skill. Most likely it's there just to explain something that Atalanta did on Apocypha, if that much, just like Diarmuid's Knight's Tactics is there just to explain his style of combat tat induced Saber to comit a mistake that was almost fatal on Zero.

That's why I was trying to figure how to use that Skill, after all, even if it was born of the legend of the race, Atalanta doesn't need it to outrace people when she's summoned as Archer.

Okay, so...

Due to being a bit stressed out due to taking on too many characters (I only ever intended to use the bare minimum of two, really), as well as the fact that she's really the character I'm having the most difficulty trying to figure out how to write, I... Might be considering possibly dropping Mordred but we'll see how things turn out. If I end up doing this, I need to apologise to @Nanashi Ninanai for kind of screwing you over with this decision, so, um... Sorry about that.

Going to really try and get a post out for Jack and Katenka at least, if not tonight then sometime over the weekend, so hopefully that'll pan out. Again, really sorry for screwing people over due to my incompetance but hopefully I'll get something sorted out.

@KoL Some personal skills do seem to be largely cosmetic, basically just there to emphasize a certain point of the Servants legend. For wrestling and other skill based things though maybe it will work.

Also you may be able to use it to overtake such things as Phantasmal Beasts, which is very useful.
