@Archmage MC I think Akaya was approving your powers. Octarine is not a gem and you must chose an actual gem. Also, how does a Grimoire help your gem's survival?

I'll be honest with you, portals are enough so I just went with a book for a weapon to show that my character just uses their abilities and doesn't engage in physical combat often at all. I just like the theme and all xD. If you have a suggestion, I can take that instead.
EDIT: tinkering around with gem names. Jeez there are a lot. Any neat suggestsions for a 'magic' kinda gem that aren't Emerald or Topaz?
Can someone help me figure out a way to weaponize the wings for my character's 'Combat Protocal' power without making it too complex? I really like this idea, but I think I might have to scrap it to something else if I follow my current train of thought.
Gem Placement: Upper Back Gem Item:Ethereal wings of sorts, covered in a number of 'eyes'. In Sensory mode, they're Sera's prime method of gathering visual sensory information, or 'sight'. She is effectively blind until she can summon her wings, of which there are three levels of power for. These are indicated by the number of wings a Seraphinite possesses.
2 wings: 360 degree vision, parascopic vision(she can zoom in like a camera), and higher levels of mental processing power to deal with the constant influx of information from so many angles.
4 wings:TBD
6 wings:TBD
When switched to Combat Protocol, the wings lose their sensory capabilities in exchange for use as offensive and defensive systems, as well as giving sight back to Sera's regular eyes, so as not to leave her at a significant disadvantage. The energy that makes up the wings shifts into a solid, durable metallic substance that is capable of fusing with a willing Gem Body, strengthening it's defensive and offensive capabilities. The substance's natural state is liquid, and thus, is able to change form fluidly and swiftly, and if it ever leaves Sera's control, returns to it's liquid state. The substance is also programmable, just like a Gem's energy body, and thus can be given simple commands such as 'Attack', 'Defend', or 'Return'. More complex instructions can be given at higher levels, but not by any greatly varying degrees.
Level 1(2 Wings, though often referred to as 'Wingless'): At this level, enough substance is created to form Sera's armor, which not only provides a good amount of defensive capabilities, especially against environmental hazards and energy-based attacks thanks to the refractive shielding and filtration systems, but it also can shift the Gem body in such a way that the arms and legs can be turned into simple, close-range weapons, such as blades, and back again. These give Sera a great deal of flexibility in combat when it comes to engagements, as well as possibly surprising the enemy.
Note: The wings can also be used in a purely offensive fashion, changing into large, simple blades that can be swung around telekinetically, but given the weak constitution of the base Seraphim form, this is not a likely course of action to expect from a fully-functioning Seraphinite Enforcer.
Note that since Sera's weapon is essentially her power, she won't have access to anything but 2 wings at the start. Any added powers she grows into will come from her wings Powers: Seraphinites lack a concrete definition of powers, so to speak, but instead have more highly functional weapons than most gems to make up for this deficit. Also unlike most gems, all Seraphinites have the same weapon, their wings, but the aesthetics of these wings and higher level abilities are variable between each and every individual unit. Other: Seraphinites are the enforcers and Top-class guardians of the Diamond authority, built with one design objective in mind: Seek and Destroy. To facilitate this philosophy, their form is split between to systems.
The Sensory system abilities tend to focus less on combat and more on information gathering, higher sensory awareness, and scouting. As the base system that Seraphinites take, it also has all of the personality systems in place, enabling them to make good secondary leaders with excellent judgement calls, reading the flow of the battle with utmost accuracy and giving their advice to the commandant in charge.
Alternatively, there comes the point where they must seek out the conflicts that they find, and this is where the Combat system;s take over. Sensory information is minimized to the workable minimum, personality is limited to the absolute minimum, memory is stored away till Sensory is reactivated, and the target(s) are identified When Combat Protocol is activated, the Seraphinite will activate it's energy conversion matrix to form the Specialized material of Seraphinium, infuse it into the fragile base form to bring it up to code for a warrior gem, and engage the foe until either they are subdued. This gem will feel no pain, will feel no fear, will have no sense of true self-presevation, only harm avoidance to keep it fighting longer. They will keep in fighting and fighting and fighting until they are shattered/poofed. They no longer are a Gem, but a highly-tuned battle machine that will only stand down when commanded by their given commander, which leads into another component of the Seraphinites.
When a Seraphinite is deployed, they have two designations that they are compelled to make: A Designated Superior and a designated Person/place of interest. The Superior has complete control over the Serpahinite unit while they are under Combat Protocol, with the only way to override their command being the authority of a Diamond. Even when not in Combat Protocol, the words of theSuperior holds a certain amount of weight in the Seraphinite's mind, and it takes a lot of will power to resist the urge to obey.
The P.o.I is something that the Seraphinite must protect at all cost, including it's own life. Often, when said P.o.I is placed in danger, that is when Combat Protocol is initiated, after sufficient data has been obtained. The desire to protect the P.o.I. is the only other thing that can interfere with the order of the Superior, if the two happen to be at odds with each other. If such a thing does occur, then the unit is often given to lean towards their main directive in these cases, which is to protect their objective. However, this isn't a sure thing, as it happens about half of the time, while the other half results in the system following the orders of the Superior.
@HaltingBlooperWell, is it a frontline warrior gem, or something more sneaky? I'm thinking the latter with the passive you've given him, but I want to make sure before I suggest anything.
@RaijinslayerWell, I was thinking she would be more of a speedy, flanky fighter. Sneak around, attack, retreat to a position where she can use her billhook to dissuade enemies from counterattacking.
@Raijinslayer I have no clue with the combat mode but I hope you don't scrap it. It is a really unique way of doing powers that I'd like to see come to light.
@RaijinslayerI like the camouflage idea! In fact, I used it. Also, I can't seem to find a good picture for Chrysoberyl, so I guess I'll have to type up an appearance tomorrow.
Okay, I've written up an idea that came to mind for the Combat Protocol, as well as some background stuff on how these Gems work that should provide some interesting plot and character moments. I've also got two pics for how she looks in place, so can you guys tell me which one you like better? I have a preference, but it's not a particularly large one, so I want to see what you all think about it.
@Akayaofthemoon@KronshiJudge away, and I hope you both still like it. Should also be a bit less of a burden on Kronshi as far as fusions go, as you can put it down to aesthetic/functional differences in the armor in accordance with the added weapon. Always thinking about you, man.!
Sorry for the double post, but damn did that turn out to be long. A lot longer than I initially planned.
Fun Fact The Max level a seraphinite will attain is determined at the beginning of it's gestation period, as they tend to be more resource intensive to grow the higher level they'll becomme. A Six wing Seraphinite is very re and extremely valuable once they reach their highest level of functionality.
Just want to post here to say I'm still in it. I'll be reworking Carmen just a little, but keeping all the major concepts. Sooooo many neat gadgets for him to use eeeeee
I'd also like to reserve Selenite as my gem, though I'm debating Wether to bring her in at the start or keep my original idea for her reveal...
@Kronshi Okay, like I said in the other thread, I'd like to continue the tradition of me playing a Homeworld gem and hope you'll allow me to. To help switch things up, I'd like to try having Spinel play for the Homeworld side and I think she'll compliment Bloodstone nicely.
Name: Spinel Gem: A White Spinel Appearance:
Gem Placement: Her left elbow
Gem Item: A large crossbow
Powers:
-Invisibility: Technically, Spinel is always invisible, but her body normally emits a ghostly white glow. With enough focus, she can suppress her body's glow and become transparent. She can do this for up to 30 minutes while completely still, or 10 minutes while moving. The drawback of this ability is that she is significantly worse than others at hiding in the dark without something covering her.
-Silent steps: Because of her light body, Spinel's footsteps are almost entirely inaudible to most human or gem ears.
-Sharpshooter: Years of practice have made Spinel very accurate with her bow.
-Analyst (2): Being an information and reconnaissance gem by nature, Spinel is second to none at learning and retaining information. At this point in her existence, Spinel is a walking database of information, both on gems and many species that gems have been in contact with.
Backstory: Spinel was created many thousands of years ago, and is among the few remaining Era One White Spinels. While every White Spinel is expected to be able to suppress their emotions to a degree, in order to serve in their intended capacity as recon gems, Spinel was a very unique case, displaying no ability to feel emotion at all. Initially this was seen as a serious defect, as it severely impaired her ability to make decisions. Early in her life, her lack of any natural survival instinct and inability to make even basic decisions on her own nearly led to her being labeled as defective and scrapped. This was never done, however, after Spinel demonstrated her ability to flawlessly recall and carry out the orders of her superiors. Despite everything else, it seemed that she did at least have one natural instinct, that being to follow orders.
As Spinel gained more experience, she became well known as a consultant of sorts, and her presence was often requested along with that of a Sapphire when preparing for an important mission: the Sapphire for her ability to predict the future, and Spinel to weigh that information against her extensive knowledge of the past and present. Because of her stealth abilities, she was used as a spy in many missions against the Crystal Gems during the war.
Despite the respect her skills eventually gained her, Spinel never had many friends among gems and didn't usually associate with them. Spinel has always seen herself more as a piece of technology than a true individual, and has never taken issue with being treated as such. In addition, even those who were familiar with her often found her presence unsettling due to her behavior. Between missions, Spinel has been known to merely stand silently in one place for days unless told to do otherwise, and never engages in conversation that doesn't relate to a mission.
Either by his personal request, or because the Diamond Authority decided she would be a good fit, Spinel has been assigned to Bloodstone for his current mission to Earth.
@Raijinslayer Maybe school buds? Carmen's a recluse, since his albinism made him a target in school. But I can imagine the guy that lives around weird gem tech would have interest in a kid that looks like a gem.
I can't speak for Kronshi since this is his decision to make but I know for a fact that Spinel's weapon will not be accepted. Please read the bottom part of the first post carefully since this is one of the additions Kronshi and I made. It was a hard decision but it makes his fusion job easier
