Hey there! I saw that this RP was still running and I wondered if I could (re-)join. You see, I used to be part of this RP for a short time in the beginning (like a year ago) but had to drop out because of IRL stuff. If possible I want to rejoin now with a new character.

My character so far. Any thoughts? I'm going for an agility based avatar. Not sure about the IRL guy's backstory or personality yet though. Also, since the RP is already pretty advanced, what are the differences at the moment between the blue and black guilds? Lastly, any ideas you guys have for an ability that fits him, please tell!

@NightmareInd

I'll look at your CS later. I just day that I'd rather like that you didn't joined neither the Blue, not the Black guilds. They have enough players on them already. Please join one of those with less players, to even things a bit, if possible.

Personally, I'd say that Red is the easy to go, since they only have one PC and two NPCs on their roster ay the moment.

Ultimately, it's your choice but please, consider it carefully. And don't be a Sweeper, please, we have way too many of them. If those keep on piling up, the RP will feel too monotonous.

I think red guild is good, it was my 3rd choice anyway.

EDIT: I've thought of an ability, just not sure if it is not too OP. Basicly what it does is that (starting from level 3) every 2nd level Kick Shot gains, he gets an additional feat, but from the warrior branch. The feat has to be equal or lower than the level the additional feat is aquired, so on level 3 he can only get a level 3 warrior feat, but on level 5 he can get a level 5, 4 or 3 warrior feat. Additionaly, he can choose to sacrafice a rogue feat and get a warrior feat of the same level or lower instead.

I would just like you to be aware that Aaron will be roasting Charlie if he doesn't maximize his DPS. Harleys have high standards, being PKers and all.

@KoL
Emma ain't no NPC at this point.

Yeeeaaah gaining a feat as a passive thing? No. If you want to do something like replace one of your avatar abilities with a avatar feat from the warrior branch, go for it, but not simply having it tacked on as an extra. If I'm understanding this right, then around 9th level he'd have 11 feats, and 6 avatar abilities, compared to the usual 7 feats and 6 abilities. That's a lot even if one of his avatar abilities is simply getting the feats every 2nd level above third, since at max level you've only sacrifice one ability for 4 feats, which aren't small things to disregard either.

@Lucius Cypher Darn, I had my doubts already, but there are a few warrior feats that I really want because they fit his speed/agility style a lot. I guess I can use an abilty to up his speed/agilty a bit, but still...

As I said, if you want to replace one of your Avatar Abilities with a Warrior Feat or something similar, go for it. But not passively adding more feats as you level up.

Just a quick reminder, but you get your first Avatar Feat (As in Feature of your class, either Warrior, Rogue, Healer, or Mage) at level three and gain one ever level afterwards until max (So that's 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9).

You gain Avatar Abilities, that is special abilities unique to your Avatar at level 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9. Granted, these abilities can be similar to feats, but otherwise are unique to your own avatar in whatever thematically appropriate way.

That's a total of 13 different types of bonuses or skills you can use at max level, though right now you'll only start at level 3 or lower. Thus you have 3 abilities unique to your avatar, plus one out of the three class feature you if you start at level 3. Obviously if you're only level 1 all you have is your avatar ability.

I know how you get avatar feats and abilities, I've read those rules. I'm thinking of possible abilities though, and I know I want one that boosts his overal speed (both movement and attack), just not sure with how much. What else could fit him?

Hmm. Well, if Kick Shot's thing is kicking people with gun boots, I got a few ideas.

Level 1 Ability would be allowing Kick Shot to take firearms (as a rogue they are proficient with all firearms, including things like bows, crossbows, and specific types of throwing weapons) and allow him to use them with his kicks. As he levels up the damage he can do with the guns through his kicks are increased, and there isn't a need to reload ammo for his kicks, though he only shoots when he actually kicks something. he can still just use a gun normally if he wants.

Level 2 Ability could be your mobility/attack speed increase via gun type. Depending on which gun Kick Shot has equipped, his damage/attack speed/special traits increase or are added. If he's using shotguns the impact of his kicks are greater, if he's using some sort of automatic weapon the rate of his attacks and movement increases, if he's using something explosive his kicks have a boom to it, if it's a sniper rifle then it simply does more damage or perhaps armor piercing qualities. For pistols... Eh.

And level 3 and beyond I guess then it goes into special attacks. Maybe at three he can dual wield two types of fire arms, even if they're normally two-handed ones, but he can't use the guns normally if he does it like that. Instead each one of his legs gets the quality of one of the guns, so you can have your right leg be a machine gun for fast kicks, and the left a shotgun if you need space.

And so on and so forth. As I said, I'm playing your abilities off the angle that you'll be doing a lot of kicking.

I have to say that I actually think that the feats aren't worth the hassle. I think that they are outdated parts of the RP that have little impact on the story (except for Icarus Attack, which is awesome in its fullness, and the ones that grant spells to the mage classes) basically, if you put your efforts on making your character too good with passive skills, people will likely complain or question why you are better than them even when they don't see that you went your if your easy to spend resources on passive bonuses.

That said, what about a skill that grants a feat on the level of acquisition and then let you freely choose between warrior and rogue feats from there on? It seems like a good middle ground for you.

Aye, to be honest after extended play there's a lot that could be changed in terms of DGO's mechanics. But unless we're going to be doing another global retcon, it's not likely to happen.

Not yet.

Even though I like some of your ideas, it doesn't fit the character I have in mind. Kick Shot is more of a (attack) speed/agility type kind of guy. He's the kind of guy who runs around you before suddenly jumping into your face with a gun boot.

You know what, I could keep trying to convince you guys what I'm talking about, or I could show you guys my inspiration.

Also, rewatching this got me an idea:
Bonus damage based on the enemy's max HP. I call it: The bigger they are, the more that they bleed.

I figured Mercury would be the inspiration. Not many characters with gunboots that I know of.

So let's focus less on the gun boots and more about his combat style then? Obviously his first ability would simply be having gun boots. That's a weapon unique enough that no one is going to be selling it, nor will there be anyone who specializes in it's crafts.

His second ability can be something along the lines of "Longer you move, increase movement speed and stronger your next attack". So basically he builds speed as long as he keeps moving (No standing still) and his next attack increases the longer/further he keeps moving. This way he can literally run in circles around someone and then spin kick their head off.

Third ability will simply be the more he attacks, the faster his attack speed is, though he has to keep the attack up. So it's kinda a switch up between his second and third ability, though he doesn't lose his attack speed from his third ability as long as he keeps moving via his second ability. Thus, he can run and dodge, charge in for burst and stay for a sustained, and then run away if it looks like the enemy is about to CC you.

Though do note for such a hypermobile champ, you probs have the durability of a paper sack. Unless you intend to make a Speed Tank like what Arms Slave will eventually be.

I like those abilities! And no, not a speed tank xD he's more of a dodger, or even better, a 'take them down before they have a chance of getting a hit on you'.

However, since he will be HEAVILY dependent on dodging as any heavy hitter can take him down in 1 shot, would it be possible for his movement speed to be able to stack with his attack speed, but not vice versa?
For instance, he runs so he gains movement and attack, then attacks and gains attack speed. Then he runs again gaining movement on top of his already aquired speed, but his attack gain is reset, and when attacking his attack speed is reset as well.
So basicly it's like: as long as he either moves or attacks, his speed keeps rising slowly. Maybe it could be a feature of the gun boots?
