How else would you navigate this clusterfuck? XD I just skim and hope I don'T miss a change in rules or something, I both work and study, there's not time to read stuff like discussion about RP unrelated anime other people like times the number of players here.

Also I did ask for another character about 7 months ago in a PM but that slipped a memory I guess...

Keeping up with the OOC really isn't hard. I haven't looked here since last night and just caught up over the course of about fifteen minutes, including the time I spent deciding what music I wanted to listen to.

I don't expect everyone to have my inhuman reading speed, but it really isn't hard. Most posts that are completely irrelevant are obvious as such; image-only posts, video-only posts, and replies of that nature are easy to spot and are clearly of a low priority. Wall of text? Probably worth at least skimming. A multi paragraph post from a GM or co-GM? Definitely worth skimming, if not reading in detail.

No one expects anyone to read every single post in the IC or OOC, but it really isn't hard to skim and figure out what needs to be read. Nor is it hard to at least keep somewhat aware of what changes and events are going on IC.

I won't pretend to keep up to date with everything, but I do keep aware of any larger gatherings of characters or discussions in the OOC. Whether they're related to me or not. It just makes things easier for everyone when someone isn't going to be blindsided by something that has been discussed or something that has occurred just because it wasn't immediately relevant to them.

As someone who reads 99.9% of posts in the OOC and 85% of IC posts, this is how I imagine everyone who doesn't read everything:

I try to read all the OOC at least, obviously I missed something earlier, but that happens sometimes. IC posts on the other hand are harder. Not to read, per say, but to understand what is going on. With all the people's posts all jumbled together, and often out of time sync with each other, you have to piece each story together. Headers work wonders for this, but still, I wish there was a way to organise the posts by whom it concerns and/or by plot/subplot thats going on. However, organizing them like that would be difficult to do without making it overly complicated.

If we don't give everyone their dosage of salt every now and again, this place will be way too saccharine or worse, we'll actually start actually being nice to one another. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war.

Well... I can relate with the issue of OOC being a lot. I mean... I have days where I don't look into the OOC, then decide to do so and I have literally 10-15 pages of conversation, mostly related to stuff that doesn't even concern me in the slightest.
If I arrive on the last page I try to at least scroll so far up as to catch the beginning of a conversation, but reading through all the gibberish, most of it I don't even understand in the first place because of 2 main reasons, these being;
1. I don't speak English natively. Now, I know that concept might be hard for some people to get, seeing as I do appear have quite a good grasp of the English language, but nevertheless, there are certain issues of communication concerning information trying to reach my brain
2. I don't internet. At all. With that I mean, I just don't get most pop culture references. I don't want to force my stupidity on others, so I just keep my mouth shut and skip the posts, even if they might contain useful information. I wouldn't know that because I just don't have a suitable Enigma Machine to decipher the code
causes me headache as much as this post will to anyone trying to read it, because with this, I probably have written the most convoluted and complicated, maybe even longest sentence in the entire history of this OOC and I am freakishly proud of my nonsensical achievement...

@PyroDash888 Except you're not a GM, so it doesn't matter.

The thing is like, players can pretty much stick to what affects them and/or what they're interested in, but the staff of a game should be paying attention to everything so that they can properly make decisions. GMs have a responsibility to keep an RPG running smoothly for everyone, and thus need to get as much information as possible. Not just by reading all of the IC posts, which also allows them to catch any issues that arise and nip them in the bud quickly, but also by reading the OOC and/or dealing with player enquiries.

GMs need to pay attention. They need to also coordinate their information and tell people it so that shit like "oh right yeah, we already filled that slot" doesn't happen. You can't be a GM if you just do the bare minimum and pay attention only to the shit that you think is interesting. You're the GM. You have a responsibility to take in all info so you can actually act. You need to remember every GMing decision you've made so it doesn't interfere with anything else.

You need to communicate.

By becoming a GM, you took on a responsibility. Don't half-arse it.

Just a note, I don't mind if everybody doesn't read everything in the RP! It's just a thing that people should be aware of though when they plan to bring new things to the RP that can heavily influence it as a whole- whether it be posts, incoming content, and etc. There are a lot of chances to avoid miscommunication (even if some chances are admittedly slim), so making less of the same problem arise consecutively/frequently should still be within our attention. ^^

I'm not trying to insult anyone here, I'm just pointing out the situation I found to be concerning. (My initial words were directed towards the situation rather than the players! Just in case I offended anybody here o-o;;)

For everyone complaining I do try to keep up with the OOC as much as I can but I cannot and will be unable to keep up with it as it is progressing. I spent the weekend at my Grandmothers since my sister is in town, the one time of the year I get to see her. I came back on Monday to find myself on page 903 while the OOC had progressed to 916. I contacted Dulcet after reading:

Does anyone know of someone that would be willing to fill the fourth slot on the new team.
Lugubrious

He got back to me saying he'd whip up a character while I was reading:
But I thought I'd already been put in the fourth slot. What's going on?
Plank

I informed him that someone else might be in line for the spot but as they were a current member of HoB and Lug had expressed a vehement dislike of RPers taking on a second student character he should still make an inquiry. I still think allowing Plank a second main PC is a terrible idea as it creates a precedent that I don't think should be adhered to, (not to mention a new RPer was elbowed out of the way to make it happen) but that decision was ultimately not mine.

I assumed had the matter been settled in the remaining OOC then someone, most likely Lug or Plank would kindly inform him that we were no longer open, thank him for his interest and ask him to leave. Clearly I expected too much from a group who would rather devolve into senseless bickering over a simple misunderstanding than handle a very simple situation with a modicum of decency. I'm getting really fucking fed up with people telling me how bad I am at my job and honestly if Sapphire weren't such a beloved character I would have left by now because a good number of you make this environment absolutely unbearable. I made a mistake, I am sorry, do you have to go over it from every angle deciding just how much at fault I am?
