That might be fine with you and I support the idea up to a point, facing enemies more powerful then you. But when you have a fellow hunter cleave through 2 dozen enemies in 1 strike while you barely killed 3 through skill and tactical positioning, I just wanna throw up. All the fun is gone.

So I either go for "equality in power" or more powerful otherwise it becomes boring. And with the dislevel present in this RP I opted to throw power levels away and make some hard-to-kill joker not interested in participating in fights himself.

@BishopI typically am for equal power in my roleplay. However, there were a lot of people who wanted somewhat overpowered character and I'm typically "IDC Do what you want," I find super power character to be rather dull and don't take them on the super fun adventure because they have the ability to ruin my archs. SOOOOO

Be super powered and have fun in your own right.

Or be more normal and I'll take you on the hero's journey.

Also, I let some people be more powerful if they appear to be an antagonist. Because, while I don't see good and bad characters, I do have a one side vs the other. Bad vs worse. And having people who almost volunteer themselves to be the 'other' makes my job easier ^^.

I hope that makes sense to all who care about the maddness of Ellion

I have a slight feeling that was directed to Emmerich.
Hm... from where can I start?

1- Yes, I was the first one to post on the fight against the gnomes. I didn't have any lead about their martial prowess, their level, rank or anything like that, so I treated them like petty creatures whose danger lies in their number. (Ellion confirmed it later.)
2- Emmerich is throwing himself in the middle of them. If anything happens such as a goblin shooting an arrow, hidden in a bush or something like that, chances are that Emmerich will be hit. An even Emmerich will get tired and realize that keep fighting is useless if more gnomes keep coming.
3- He is still only a human. He is not doing any impossible feats, he is just bouncing and always moving around on the battlefield.
"Oh, but if he is throwing himself like that, without caring for tactical positioning, he should have already been hit!"
I ask you, what we do when all else fails? When plans go wrong, tactics prove useless, what do we do? The answer is instinct. We rely on our instincts.
Sharp eyes, agile feet and a weapon that basically can strike anywhere around a 360 degrees around him contribute to make him pretty much untouchable. IF there was an heavy armored enemy, then things would be different.

EDIT:
Shai is powerful? Yes. she is. But she has a couple of very noticeable weaknesses. Once she is hurt, she is hurt. Her healing powers can sure save her, but they will require a considerable time and her being unconscious for them to work.
"Oh, but she has a barrier made of cards!" Yeah... its not a dome. for some reason, people tend to think that its a dome around her. No. Its basically a wall.
"B-but the dices..." They can be annoying, yes, but they aren't "flying giant swords" or something like that.
Plus, she will refrain from entering useless fights and her moral compass is a rather big weakness. Actually, I can think in a different number of ways to kill her.

@13org I didn't remember it was that guy. Honestly all I remember was reading that some guy slashed a dozen or so of them with one hit, another one just slashed one in one hit and went to another in quick succession while another hunter just struggled with 2 of them.

Actually, I'm thinking real hard in making a hunter.
Yes, a hunter.
A human, no magic, no demon, no special magic weapons or any supernatural ability.
Think about the guy who goes to the woods with a camouflaged suit, special liquids to make his smell disappear and a long range rifle, using baits, bear traps, etc.?
Yeah.

Even a completely normal character CAN be powerful if used right. In fact, you can be pretty much UNTOUCHABLE, that is: if you put your head to work.

There is nothing wrong in a hunter going to hunt, but before throwing himself into the danger, observe, study his prey's movements and wait for the perfect time to strike.

Oh, so you messe up, haven't you? The creature / witch noticed you and now you need to flee?
Use your equipments, hunter. Use the traps you carefully placed before starting your hunt. Wait, you placed them didn't you? Don't tell me you never thought in a backup plan? *facepalm*
Ok, you still have a chance. Do you have something that can be used to distract your pursuer? Maybe take off your camouflaged jacket, and quickly make an improvised trap, like putting it in a small log, tie it to a branch and swing it around when your pursuer passes, making him follow your decoy, giving you an opportunity to flee or make another ambush?

@Bright_Ops The things you depict him doing seem great but I don't see this guy achieving anything here. Unless he uses his transformation powers for fighting what else could he do?

If you actually manage to achieve something by actually transforming and tricking everyone in the group I will give kudos to all your posts in this RP with him.

Technically that could be Avalon as well. XD But that sort of goes with the type of weapon she uses. It's designed to make gashes in quick succession, and if you're not careful, you'll be missing a head in no time. Her specialty is hack n slash, speed over power and has very little magical defense (despite being a witch hunter lol).

Actually, i haven't said numbers. I just said that he entered the middle and moved around slashing, piercing and kicking everything that moved.
Seeing the nature of these monsters, its not that hard to do it. As i said, his agile movement + the unique advantages his *AHEM* completely normal, not enchanted or magical *AHEM* weapon gives him.

It should be considered that The Avatar of Death basically is a story character. Charon was there in the original RP for plot purposes, not as a regular character. My own character has been refit to perfectly ordinary hunter standards and was never played as long as he wasn't. Lusius secondary form, as far as I was able to learn, confronts him with a lot of drawbacks. Poisons flooding an entire forest is another story, but we already had discussions about that.

Wasn't there something in between what we had as regular characters and a demigod ? Aside from that I think the entire 'I can only have real fun if my characters are considerably more powerful than all the others'-concept is seriously flawed.

I am very concerned about what's going on here, but nevertheless I'll try to get out a post with my hunter now.

But with all y'all making your trouble making OP characters that don't fit into either category... now I have to reveal the one I was keeping secret before one of you steals the idea. >.<

Well technically I think Bishop already did. T.T

OK OK, let's stop now. It looks like everyone is justifying their character's powers while accusing the other for having an "OP" character. We're all buddies here. Besides..
It's not like Lazarus can control time or gravity and he can be easily killed with a holy arrow or bullet to the head or heart.

An interesting perspective. I can see where you're coming from; power creep is always an issue when unrestricted magic powers are present in a setting. However. I feel like it should be noted that, in this instance, you've perpetuated the issues you have. If you see a character do something outlandish and decide to one up them so you don't become outclassed, have you not taken their place as the outlandish one? Food for thought.

The mentality of "turn into them and be greater at what they do."

But you all ignore the fact that Lazarus won't be killing anyone with his crap level magic, let alone phycial combat which he rarely if ever uses. And everyone brings up his regenerative powers which are easily countered by holy things. He seems very underpowered to me.
