Aquamarine's Song I just want to stay with you What more can I do Everything I want to say Will just push you away
These wounds will never heal And I'm doubting if what we had is real I will surely break This is far more than I can take
Now I can't stand by your side anymore I have no idea what the future has in store Oh,I will do what is right Even if it means we will have to fight You were my rage, You were my destruction, But that all ends today, you've found a new direction Don't you know what I felt, you were my inspiration
When this war is decided You and me will truly be divided This is all my fault My heart now locked in a vault
We will both betray The things we will say Do you even care Did you ever care
Now I can't stand by your side anymore The future is now set and I know what is in store Oh, I will do what is right Even though it means we will have to fight I am calm, I am your patience I gave you my all, this doesn't make any sense Do you know how I felt, you were my fascination
Do you even need me anymore My heart has never felt so sore Have you forgotten about us or me I miss everything we possibly could be
Maeve Star Byrne
Appearance:
Gem:
Nickname Mave,Evie,Star
Gem Type: Star Sunstone
Age: 21
Gem Location: Right Earlobe
Weapon: Chakrams
Power: Manipulate light but for now can only create light rays as to confuse her enemies on where her weapon is coming from. At least when she can summon her weapon that is.
Other:
Power does not work at night or barely works since the moon is not her domain. Most her power is drawn from the sun.
Although she tends to have more of an 'always curious about everything' look on her face than the one in the picture.
Gem Placement: Chest
Gem Item: Tower Shield
Powers: Levitate(Passive) = Antigrav, fairly straightforward. Portals(Enhanced) = A projectile that can be detonated to create a two way connection in space-time that can be of varying shapes or sizes. Portals can be made either in the air or on surfaces. Portals made on solid surfaces are very stable and take a good while to close if not closed manually while air based portals are unstable and will close a little bit after creation. Portals can be moved while they are open, but doing so reduces their lifespan. There can only be one pair of portals open at a time. Blink = Short range teleport that breaks the character free of bonds.
Backstory: A scientist interested in the knowledge that other worlds could bring, Marry decided that the wanton destruction of Homeworld was far too much to deal with, and rebeled to save a planet that looked like it had great potential. Plus Homeworld had stagnated pretty badly in general and wasn't that fun to be at anyway. And working for 4 space hitlers wasn't the greatest.
Other: Marry's room is something like a less lethal Aperture Science. Still not some place you wanna wander in carelessly though. Marry is pretty open to fusion, and has something of a waltz to fuse with others. Marry is very blunt about talking with others, and tends to have very little of a filter in her own mind. Though she comes off as nonchalant when talking about facts. Marry rarely ever takes a step, instead preferring to float everywhere. Marry is very very curious. Be careful about falling asleep near her!
Name: Marcus ‘Mark’ Mettleton or 'The Indisputable Fuerte Supremisimo’!
Age: 25
Appearance: Mark has pretty long, blonde hair that he hides under his mask and he has decently tanned skin.
Backstory: Marcus was born in Empire city and grew up as a pretty short tempered child. He lived in a painstakingly average middle class household where he spent most of his early days playing at home by himself. There wasn’t any one thing that kept Marcus in solitude but a combination of factors led him to being decently socially inapt when he was younger which resulted in him being bullied a fair amount in the likes of preschool up to the second grade. After preschool however, Mark hit a growth spurt and finally hit his breaking point, resulting in him beginning to pick on others to make himself feel better about himself. This continued on right up until the end of high school. Marcus’s grades weren’t good, he was a decently smart person, but he was a slacker and just didn’t do most of the assignment he was given in school which made his option for education after high school equal little to none.
Seeing as Marcus had already been working as a janitor in a small arcade for a while, he simply decided to keep going with his job and find out what to do with his life later on in life. Days began meshing into one another and soon Marcus had been stuck in his dead end janitor job for two years and apparently no better future in sight. Mark began spirally into a state of depression which continued to worsen by the day. At Mark’s lowest point he was contacted by one of his few friends from high school and invited to a halloween party that they were hosting. This would have brought Mark back from the brink and got him out of his house and doing something other than his job though this isn’t exactly how the events played out. Marcus got his costume together (a Luchador costume that he managed to make out of things he found at a dollar store and things he had around his home) got out the door and headed to his friends house for the party… only to find out he was two days to early.
Mark felt very embarrassed by the whole ordeal and began to walk home in a very bad state of mind. As Mark was walking he absent mindedly made his way near the fringes of town where he stumbled upon an unsightly scene strewn out before him. There was one of those monster with the gemstones on them chasing after a family. Mark was naturally frightened of this but rather than run away, Marcus dashed towards the creature, figuring this was as good a way as any to go out. The beast got quite a few hits on Marcus, with him being able to just barely being able to stand up time after time, but before the final blow was struck, some of the more humanoid gem-people showed up and quickly turned the beast to dust and were off without another word. Mark was a little stunned to say the least but he decided to check on that family and see how they were doing. The family was overjoyed that the monster was now gone and thought that Marcus was the one who did it. Mark was about to explain the situation to them and how this had basically been a failed attempt to get himself hurt but he then saw the potential that he now had to extort. He told the family that he had taken down the monster and saved them which seemed plausible enough to the frazzled family.
Soon word began to get around about Mark’s dabble in heroics and parents began asking him to show up at their children’s parties. Mark now had a new form of income and it was infinitely more gratifying than being a janitor. Mark continued working his hero angle and after five years he’s become a local celebrity
Abilities/Skills: Marcus excels in hand to hand combat thanks to taking wresting in high school and his numerous martial arts instructors that he now employs with he decent wealth. He is in nearly peak human condition and as such he can hold his own against most of the thugs that reside in Crystalisis. While Marcus’ main form of offence is his numerous forms of martial arts, he is also training with melee weapons such as staves and sword play though his skill with these are pretty abysmal at the moment.
Misc: >Mark lives in a penthouse sweet in one of the biggest buildings in Crystalisis. >Mark will have a strong distrust and hatred of gems to begin with but he’ll keep his hatred underwear’s for the sake of appearance. >Marcus’ most prized possession is his motorcycle that he calls the ’Thunder-Cycle’ simply because it sounds cool. The Thunder-Cycle’s most defining feature is it’s rad sidecar and flames paint job. >Mark has a motorcycle helmet that has the same design as his mask. >Marcus doesn’t have much of a secret identity and as such he often times just goes by Mark, Marcus or Mr.Mettleton but most kids and fans will call him by his heroic name >Bow to the Queen
Gem Placement: Shoulder Blade Gem Item:Eskirma Sticks Powers: Tug is capable of replicating herself to a very large degree with her largest number reached being twenty copies, however, every time she copies herself she and her copies get weaker. She can only make around four or five copies on Earth before the atmospheric pressure and gravity poof her and her clones. Additionally Tugtupite can summon hexagonal, modular shield allowing her to protect herself from all manner of physical and energy based attacks though these shield are not nearly as strong as the likes of Stevens, hence their modular design. Terrakinesis is another power Tugtupite possesses allowing her to subject the earth to her will. This is by far her strongest power allowing her to float through the air on a suspended slab of earth or bash others with heavy rocks. Tug is also capable of ‘reading’ others to an amazing degree. This power allows her to deduce various facts such as their mental state and, with enough time, even able to predict their first action (after their initial action her predictions get less and less accurate).
Backstory:
Tug was a 2nd era Tugtupite gem and originally created with a lack of any of her powers. She was assigned to overseeing colonization projects on various planets where she would mostly work on setting up kindergartens and looking to optimize gem production with the growing increase in inapt gems such as herself. However, while she fulfilled her main roll of caretaker over various kindergartens, she also began to delve a little deeper into the likes of gemetics and see what truly made a gem tick so to speak. As she continued her research she began to do experiments on gems deemed to defective to be used by Homeworld and soon came to an astonishing discovery. Through her research she managed to induce a rapid gestation process in an already formed gem, essentially allowing them to finish their development in a fraction of the time and produce some previously unheard of effects such as changes in maximum hard-light mass or different powers altogether. Of course this process had its drawbacks such as the need for countless other gem specimens to be sacrificed for just one gem to develop properly and if the gem’s cognitive functions hadn’t developed properly to start with, they would stay in their unaltered state of mind, essentially making the process useless.
Tugtupite took her research findings to her gem and asked to be reassigned so that she may work on the process and hopefully find a better and more efficient way of fixing malformed gems and turning them into valuable units. Tug was granted her wish and sent to Earth under the leadership of Bloodstone where she could further her studies into the inner workings of gems and take down the rebellion that had rooted itself on the planet as well.
Other: -She once had a metaphorical heart of gold that came with attempting to raise so many beings from the menial wastes of a planet but she has since become much less nurturing since delving full time into her new studies. -Contrary to most Homeworld Gems, Tugtupite doesn’t hate humans and even idolizes some for their advances in their own sciences, some of which she has been trying to replicate with gem technology such as cloning, lobotomization and transfusion to name a few. -While the workings of human and gem bodies are Tug’s specialty, she is capable of building machines with some degree of finesse though not nearly to the degree of someone more devoted to the process. -Bow to the Queen
- Weapon Meld: Able to meld his Naginata into any gem weapon that he has seen. - Plasma Manipulation: Able to manipulate plasma waves into gem disrupting energy bolts and spheres. Can also manipulate electrical currents without truly being able to create them. - Sonic Wave: Able to create powerful, thunderous shockwaves with a forceful gesture or shout. - Force Fusion: Can forcibly fuse with any gem that is in an unstable emotional state. - Black Corruption: Causes a gem to slowly and painfully corrupt into a monster upon touch although only corrupting their physical form and not their mind. Gems that are infected by this are unable to use any of their powers properly. Incurable by anyone except for a healing gem as strong as Rose Quartz or by the antidote Bloodstone created as a negotiation tool.
Backstory:
"I'm the one asking the questions here!"
Other:
Commandeering force for the research and development of Earth as a gem colony. Suddenly turned into a War General due to the rebellion, not a pretty sight for a previous scientist gem whose purpose was gem research and manipulation to create better, stronger gems. No-one really knows why all of Home-World stopped talking about him but they all dread that they may one day be sent to serve him.
Passive: Empathy: Cavan has the ability to sense the emotions of those around him. While he cannot read minds by any means, he can detect is someone is scared, angry, sad, happy, or any other kind of emotion, even if they're trying to hide it. Due to this, he can typically tell when someone is lying, seeing as their emotions betray panic and fear. Cavan is unable to turn off his empathy, very similar to the way Garnet's Future Vision(TM) works. Lastly, this enables him to detect whenever he isn't alone, as he can sense someone else's emotions. The more powerful an emotion, the farther away Cavan can sense it. Active: Supersonic Voice: Cavan's gem is located in his throat. Due to this, his voice is immensely powerful, allowing him to shout or scream with enough force to bring down walls and blast objects, or people, away. Persuasion: Cavan's voice is able to persuade weak-minded individuals into doing his bidding. Whispering is the best way to do this, as screaming interferes with his concentration. Downsides to this ability include his voice gaining a crackling tone while in use, almost like glass shattering, and that in order to persuade strong-minded individuals and gems, he must speak to them over an extended period of time. His influence only lasts for a short duration (clearly consent from the other person will be required in order for him to persuade their character). Crystal Breath: Cavan is able to create crystallized structures on surfaces that he blows on, very similar to ice breath, however there is no cold aspect to it, and it is stronger than ice.
-Backstory-
Cavan served as an enforcer and interrogator for the Diamonds when he was a member of Homeworld. He was basically the Internal Affairs of the Gem world. He was sent to fix problems. Investigate any kind of rebellion against the Diamonds and quelling it was his primary function. When the Rebellion on earth took place, he heard tales of Rose Quartz and her renegade Pearl, how the fearsome duo struck hard and fast, sabotaging any attempt to build Kindergarten's on Earth. Blue Diamond dispatched him with an Amethyst and a Pearl to investigate and quell the Rebellion. When he first arrived, the two were impossible to find. Cavan commanded a small army, and he roamd the surface of the earth searching for them. He ruthlessly interrogated the creatures deemed as "humans", forcing them to reveal anything they knew about the rogues. At long last, he learned of their location. He sent his army to strike them down, however during his time searching for them, the Rebellion had grown in numbers. After a vicious, bloody battle, the Rebellion emerged victorious. Cavan fought with his entire strength, however he was nothing compared to Rose Quartz' forces. He was imprisoned, however every once and a while he was removed from his bubble to speak with a Sapphire. They spoke often, slowly revealing to Cavan the horrors of Homeworld. Eventually, he joined the Rebellion; after years of fighting, Homeworld was defeated and was driven away from Earth. The Kindergarten's were shut down and Cavan began to live a normal life, slowly blending into the human culture until his days as an interrogator and warrior were but a distant memory.
-Other-
Cavan is entirely voice oriented. Removing his ability to speak is a key to defeating him. His persuasive abilities are limited to the consent of other roleplayers and it can take weeks or months to convince someone to do what he wants if they oppose him (like a Homeworld Gem). Cavan hates forcing people to do what they don't want to, however he is a Rebel Gem. He has the stomach for it.
Name:Marnie "M... My name... Is Marnie" Gem: "I'm just a shy newborn Indicolite"
Appearance: "Please don't look at me like that it's embarrassing"
Gem Placement: "It's on my chest... I honestly don't like it there... It's such a weird place" Chest
Gem Item: "It's pretty big honestly... I don't know how to use it either... I have problems summoning it has well sometimes... I kinda like it though."
Powers: Enhanced Agility(passive): possess agility beyond that of a normal member of the user's species Water Mimicry (active): The power to transform into or have a physical body made up of water. Other: She is very clumsy and prefers to run away from the fight then fight it, she also looses form easily do to the fact that there was a mess up in her creation. Marnie does try to keep a smile on her face whenever she can. She is also fascinated by the human's movie's which is where she got the name Marnie from a movie called "When Marnie was there." She stands at roughly Peridot's height but slightly shorter and more cuddlable. Theme Song: I just really Like this song... It's interesting... And Calming to me... I just know it some how..
Name: Fife Blaze "The name is Fire. And it's nothing different from that." Age: 19 "I shall not say I have no reason to say" Appearance: "What are you lookin at?!"
Bio: "It's none of your business now fuck off" Fife had a pretty average life so far for his mentality. His Father was an author and his mother was almost ways out working has a teacher for the talentedly gifted. He never thought of much through his life besides living it to the much he can but that was before something snapped inside of his father. To this day he still doesn't know what caused his father to change to so quickly out of nowhere, Just one day Fife woke to his dad with such an angry complex expression. This happened when he was maybe 7 or 8 though so he doesn't currently remember it very well. His father a weird change of attitude probably had something to with rejected from so many publishers over the years, he has written so many books, but because of Fife's father random change it also slowly began to Fife himself and how he sees the world. He began to see the world has more of a cruel place, that he is equal to a needle in a haystack, that he was a needle in a haystack. In his years of school he slowly became more of an introvert keeping to himself and whenever some would try to talk to him he would A, snap at them, or B, ignore them all together. So has soon had he finished high school in his hometown miles always from Crystalises, he decided to leave his past behind without a word to anyone and moved to Crystalisis. Fife bought his own apartment continuing to keep himself and get a job has a janitor at his apartment building because it was quick easy cash, and if he finds anything worth keeping he is allowed to keep it.
Appearance: Eise towers over most Gems, standing at a mean 8'6 and being nearly half as wide. Like most quartz Eise's hair is long and wild, trailing down a little past her hips and a bright, almost violently white in color. In contrast her skin is a deep red, with "tiger stripes" of a dirty yellow running up her arms, back, and outer thighs. Eise has a very muscular appearance in accordance to her role as a frontline soldier. being As of now she still reforms with her original Homeworld uniform, primarily black with slight red accents on the torso and "boots". There is a yellow diamond symbol in the center of her "shirt".
Powers: Strength: As a Eisenkiesel Eise was built for brutal, frontline combat and it shows. Only a Diamond or some Fusions could out-feat an Eisenkiesel in terms of raw strength.
Durability: Complimenting her strength, Eise is able to take a staggering amount of damage before "poofing". However her throat and just under the ribcage are significantly softer.
Armor Up: Eise can summon crystalline armor anywhere on her body. This armor is incredibly tough and can be summoned quickly but can only cover a small surface area. In combat it is usually summoned along the forearms for blocking and parrying, however it isn't unheard of for her to use it to punch or kick with added "Oomph."
Charge: A common ability amongst frontline Gems, Eise is able to fill her body with energy before charging towards her foes. This charge makes Eise appear to have been swallowed by her hair and transformed into a spiked, crackling tire as she speeds towards her target. While powerful and fast she has very limited vision and turning ability, meaning she must commit to a path and hope for the best.
Backstory: Eise was barely fifty years old when the Rebellion broke out on her home, consuming Earth in the fires of war. By the time she was deployed on the battlefield she had all the knowledge on how a war worked, but she didn't have "practical experience." She didn't know what it was like to feel of the power of a light cannon exploding near her, or the sound of a Gem shattering under her hands. She didn't know what it was to look a fellow Gem in the eyes while she cleaved them in half, full of fear and anger. But in the heat of battle it didn't matter, not at first. It was her job, no... her purpose to stomp out the Rebels whenever her superiors ordered it and she reveled in it, glad to serve.
But when it was all over, when she was alone with only her thoughts she could hear them. Every crunch, explosion, and scream would flood to the forefront of her mind. It only got harder to push them away as the battles grew in intensity and more and more of her sisters were struck down, becoming jaded with the whole affair.
It all came to a head in a seemingly apocalyptic battle that occurred towards the end of the Rebellion. The battle was the fiercest yet, with both sides losing countless Gems in the chaos. Eise's unit had pushed too deeply into the enemy's battle ground, cutting themselves off from the rest of the force. Surrounded and with no way to escape, what started as a breach through enemy lines became a desperate fight for survival. The squad fought valiantly, but it was many strong opponents versus the few and Eise and her squad were beginning to become overwhelmed. However the Rebellion seemed to think that wasting anymore Gems on this pocket of warriors was foolish and instead unleashed a volley of Light Cannon fire onto Eise and her squad's location.
Upon reforming all Eise could see was ash and grey, it covered the ground for miles around her. Fires still roared in the distance but none of it mattered as she dug through the ash desperately for her squad, any of them. She didn't find them, only shards and fragments of what they used to be. Eise couldn't even tell the gems apart they were in so many pieces. In that moment, cradling the remains of her only friends in her hands, Eise began to wail. She sobbed for what could have been an eternity, all of her repressed feelings flooding out in waves. The only thing that brought her back was movement out of the corner of her eye, a rebel who was apparently wandering just as lost as Eise was.
Eise wanted to fight her, to stand up and strike her down and shatter her gem... but she couldn't. As pitiful as it was, she couldn't stop her crying nor her cradling of her friends remains. Away from the heat of battle, away from her superiors, Eise couldn't muster the strength or hatred to strike the rebel down. Apparently the rebel couldn't either, eyes full of pity and sorrow. She left, most likely to return to her forces instead of going for the kill. Eise stayed for many more hours, mourning her comrades.
When she was able to return to her superiors Eise was a changed Gem, no longer having the fire to fight on the frontlines. Eventually she was shuffled to a kindergarten, stationed as a guard for the newborn Gems who would be shipped off to the grinder. It is here that she became to resent not only her superiors, but the Diamonds themselves. However in the end she was a grunt, ill equipped to do anything other than to fight. She could do nothing to help the newborns, their lives becoming a very closely guarded commodity were trying to smuggle them off Kindergarten would only bring Eise closer to her Shattering.
Then the alarm hit, The Weapon was about to be launched. A cold panic had seized the Kindergarten as hundreds of Gems began flooding to escape ships. Eise did everything in her power to help the newborns onto the ship, filing them as quickly as she could until The Weapon was fired. It was too late for Eise herself to join in the ship, being to big to fit through the now closing door. Her last act before she began to run was scooping up a smaller newborn and tosser her into the closing door, the Gem just making it through.
Eise ran, looking for anything to hide in. Unfortunately this section of the kindergarten was filled with unborn Gems, no holes to hide in. Instead she did the only thing she could, inducing a landslide and hoping for the best. The rocks covered her right before The Weapon hit, an exceptionally large boulder landing square on her back causing her to Poof.
Appearance: Short at 5' tall. Has very pale green skin, long, shaggy, green-and-yellow-green streaked hair, and very dark, deep green eyes. Wears a dark green cloak with what looks like yellow-green lightning bolts along the bottom edge. Wears a black tunic and leggings under the cloak. Gem Placement: Underside of left wrist Gem Item:Dual kamas Powers:
Electrical Sense- Vert can sense electrical impulses, such as the current through an electrical wire, or even the electricity of living things, though the latter is much harder to detect, and can get drowned out by stronger impulses.
Electric Slide- Vert can transform her body into a living electrical surge, greatly increasing her speed and offensive abilities. Incredibly powerful, but also more than a little unstable.
Bolt-ergeist- Vert can use her Electric Slide to leap into any electrical machinery and control it from the inside. Difficult to use without destroying whatever she leaps into, but well worth it when she can get a handle on her abilities.
Joy Buzzer- Vert can discharge electricity into whatever- or whomever- she's touching. Can be used to damage an enemy, charge electrical equipment (or destroy it utterly), and whatever else one can do with lightning from one's hands.
Backstory: An experimental Gem, designed to overcome the usual weakness of Verdelite Gems, namely their low intelligence. While most of her kind were treated little better than guided missiles or attack dogs, Vert was designed to be more subtle, able to infiltrate, use complex tactics, and think strategically. The good news is that they succeeded. The bad news is that they succeeded.
For one reason or another, Vert turned on the Kindergarten workers who facilitated her creation, destroying much of the facility and even shattering several workers. Distraught, she went into a catatonic state, where she remained until she was found by the Gems of the Rebellion. Armed with her wits, her powers, and her hatred toward Homeworld and all it stood for, Vert joined the Rebels' cause, eager to repay whatever cruelties had been inflicted on her. Other: Vert has a tendency to float a few inches off the ground most of the time, even if she's not in her Electric Slide form. She's not capable of full-blown flight unless in her electricity form, though.
Name:Reginald Alexander Dorvain Age: 21 Appearance:
Bio TBW, as I have to talk to Loony a bit to see if we're still going with #1 brOTP of Eve and Reggie.
Reggie is the super-genius son of the current technology mogul, Marcus Dorvain. He was born with a almost super-human talent for understanding, redefining, and conceptualizing technologies, one that grew more and more prominent as he grew. In the early stages of his life, there were little, if any problems. While his father was rather distant and played little into his son's life, Reggie's elder brother Percival(or Percy, as he liked to be called) filled in the role well enough. An army man, he was somebody who Reggie absolutely idolized in his youth, and such made it all the more heart-wrenching when he heard about how his brother died while on duty in the middle east from an I.E.D explosion. Struck with grief, 8-year old Reggie went to his father for comfort, only to be rebutted with a cold look and dismissive turn. Ever since that day, Reggie has tried desperately to get his father's attention and praise with his inventions, trying day after day to gain something from the old man. However, all he got was empty words and money thrown his way, never any of the love of affection that he so deeply craved. To this day, Reggie has never heard his father even him address him as 'Son', not once, and while he likes to act like his father's attitude doesn't bother him, it was the original driving force for his inventing and will always be a thorn in his side. Speaking of inventing, Reggie is great at it, great at reverse engineering gem-tech as well. He has a knack for figuring out how the systems work, especially after he used a dusty old gem fragment he found to produce his Gem Interface matrix, a glove that he always wears which allows him to trick the system's into think ing he's a gem by using the energy signature of the shard. Early renditions of the device were finicky, however, and even nowadays, it's a bit of a crap-shoot as to whether or not the thing will even work at all. This device, which won his father national prestige and fame because you can't say that a 16 year-old was able to make such a thing, is something that he keeps the plans to locked away tight in his head, no matter how much people ask him for. Reason? Gem Tech is some scary shit, and he doesn't trust any of the corporate head honcho's all over the world to gain access to it. That being said, he still helps his dad with integrating these systems into American Military. He does this because A)if he's cooperative, he doesn't have to worry about getting kidnapped by our government and other governments, and B) daddy issues. He really does this all to please his dad in some way or another, though in recent years, he's kind of grown detached from this desire, beginning to see how pointless it all really is, as well as how much he's kinda suffered as a human being because of his obsession.
Which brings us to Reggie's school life, which was terrible whenever he went almost all the time. You see, being as smart as Reggie was, he was often ahead of everyone else in the class, and goofed off a lot because of boredom. This caused teachers to think he was begin difficult and to instantly dislike him. It also led to him either getting bullied a lot by other kids who felt inferior or felt that he was using his daddy's money to get by in life, or to get used by others. Throughout his school career, he was often either the butt of some cruel joke or prank, or being led around by some cheerleaders or muscle heads who said they wanted to be 'friends' but just stuck him with their homework and were waiting for him to inherit his father's fortune. School sucked and, by entering middle school, he was about ready to just drop-out and go work in his lab forever. . . that is, until he met his friend Carmen, a fellow inventor of things, as well as a fellow outcast because of him being an albino, among other things. It started off with Reggie making what was likely some offensive comment about how Carmen looked like a Gem, and spiraled into life-long friendship. Carmen, being more social-grounded then Reggie could ever hope to be, helped him come out of his shell and gradually ge tmore comfortable talking with people, though he never quite lost his quirks. In return, Reggie gave Carmen lot's of advice, resources for building cool shit, and connections to cool intern ships, as well as first dibs on trying out some of his cooler stuff. Said stuff also comes with the propensity for exploding and or back-firing a bit or causing strange, usually temporary side-effects, however, so it was something best left denied when whatever gizmo he worked up seemed a bit fishy. Any way, with both of them now in college, Reggie more so he can hang out with Carmen then anything else, they compete in all manner of cool projects together. One of the latest was using old gem-tech Reggie had found in a nearby kindergarten to make an improved hover-board of sorts. It's still in the testing phase, but results have been promising and the need to wear safety gear diminishing. Unfortunately, Reggie still needs a few things to make the hover-board really work right, and that going to require more forays into the Kindergarten. Eh, what's the worst that could possible happen, these places have been dead for centuries, if not millennia. The chance of anything bad happening on this trip were just overwhelming miniscule . . so why did he still have a bad feeling in his chest. Other:
Gear:
Gem Interface Matrix: Let's him use Gem stuff around 45-50% of the time
Hover-board prototype: Good for short distance travel or when you need to make a jump, but still a bit finicky at the best of times, so relying on it to run from a monster, not a good idea.
Gem-boosted Taser gun: Take Taser gun, plug in Gem Power crystal, watch as watermelons get blown to bits, wonder why you haven't destroyed it yet, remember that popping watermelons is fun.
Can of Pepper-Spray: Because the Taser is out of the question for any non-fruit/vegetable he comes across.
Cutting Edge gaming laptop: Top of the line with graphics so fine
Handy-haversack: Not a real handy-haver sack, you've yet to invent that. However, it does auto-organize things for you, so that's cool. Full of books, various tools for scavenging gem tech, and a book on gem identification, so he can see if he can identify any loose shards he finds.
Gem Placement: Upper Back Gem Item:Ethereal wings of sorts, covered in a number of 'eyes'. In Sensory mode, they're Sera's prime method of gathering visual sensory information, or 'sight'. She is effectively blind until she can summon her wings, of which there are three levels of power for. These are indicated by the number of wings a Seraphinite possesses.
2 wings: 360 degree vision, parascopic vision(she can zoom in like a camera), and higher levels of mental processing power to deal with the constant influx of information from so many angles.
4 wings:TBD
6 wings:TBD
When switched to Combat Protocol, the wings lose their sensory capabilities in exchange for use as offensive and defensive systems, as well as giving sight back to Sera's regular eyes, so as not to leave her at a significant disadvantage. The energy that makes up the wings shifts into a solid, durable metallic substance that is capable of fusing with a willing Gem Body, strengthening it's defensive and offensive capabilities. The substance's natural state is liquid, and thus, is able to change form fluidly and swiftly, and if it ever leaves Sera's control, returns to it's liquid state. The substance is also programmable, just like a Gem's energy body, and thus can be given simple commands such as 'Attack', 'Defend', or 'Return'. More complex instructions can be given at higher levels, but not by any greatly varying degrees.
Level 1(2 Wings, though often referred to as 'Wingless'): At this level, enough substance is created to form Sera's armor, which not only provides a good amount of defensive capabilities, especially against environmental hazards and energy-based attacks thanks to the refractive shielding and filtration systems, but it also can shift the Gem body in such a way that the arms and legs can be turned into simple, close-range weapons, such as blades, and back again. These give Sera a great deal of flexibility in combat when it comes to engagements, as well as possibly surprising the enemy.
Note: The wings can also be used in a purely offensive fashion, changing into large, simple blades that can be swung around telekinetically, but given the weak constitution of the base Seraphim form, this is not a likely course of action to expect from a fully-functioning Seraphinite Enforcer.
Note that since Sera's weapon is essentially her power, she won't have access to anything but 2 wings at the start. Any added powers she grows into will come from her wings Powers: Seraphinites lack a concrete definition of powers, so to speak, but instead have more highly functional weapons than most gems to make up for this deficit. Also unlike most gems, all Seraphinites have the same weapon, their wings, but the aesthetics of these wings and higher level abilities are variable between each and every individual unit. Other: Seraphinites are the enforcers and Top-class guardians of the Diamond authority, built with one design objective in mind: Seek and Destroy. To facilitate this philosophy, their form is split between to systems.
The Sensory system abilities tend to focus less on combat and more on information gathering, higher sensory awareness, and scouting. As the base system that Seraphinites take, it also has all of the personality systems in place, enabling them to make good secondary leaders with excellent judgement calls, reading the flow of the battle with utmost accuracy and giving their advice to the commandant in charge.
Alternatively, there comes the point where they must seek out the conflicts that they find, and this is where the Combat system;s take over. Sensory information is minimized to the workable minimum, personality is limited to the absolute minimum, memory is stored away till Sensory is reactivated, and the target(s) are identified When Combat Protocol is activated, the Seraphinite will activate it's energy conversion matrix to form the Specialized material of Seraphinium, infuse it into the fragile base form to bring it up to code for a warrior gem, and engage the foe until either they are subdued. This gem will feel no pain, will feel no fear, will have no sense of true self-presevation, only harm avoidance to keep it fighting longer. They will keep in fighting and fighting and fighting until they are shattered/poofed. They no longer are a Gem, but a highly-tuned battle machine that will only stand down when commanded by their given commander, which leads into another component of the Seraphinites.
When a Seraphinite is deployed, they have two designations that they are compelled to make: A Designated Superior and a designated Person/place of interest. The Superior has complete control over the Serpahinite unit while they are under Combat Protocol, with the only way to override their command being the authority of a Diamond. Even when not in Combat Protocol, the words of the Superior holds a certain amount of weight in the Seraphinite's mind, and it takes a lot of will power to resist the urge to obey.
The P.o.I is something that the Seraphinite must protect at all cost, including it's own life. Often, when said P.o.I is placed in danger, that is when Combat Protocol is initiated, after sufficient data has been obtained. The desire to protect the P.o.I. is the only other thing that can interfere with the order of the Superior, if the two happen to be at odds with each other. If such a thing does occur, then the unit is often given to lean towards their main directive in these cases, which is to protect their objective. However, this isn't a sure thing, as it happens about half of the time, while the other half results in the system following the orders of the Superior.
Gem Item Sharp pieces of claw-like crystal that form around Wulfenite's fingers.
Powers
Passive Enhanced Senses; Wulfenite's senses are enhanced much further than the average gem's senses.
Active Hunter of the Night; Wulfenite forcibly increases the power of one of their senses by a marginal amount at the cost of the effectiveness of the other four senses temporarily.
Appearance: Gem Placement: Inner Forearm Gem Item: 6 foot bill with the following hook. Powers: Passive: Can stick to any surface, at any incline. For reference, Spider-Man. Active: Can blend into her environment, visible only as a (moving) bump in the terrain. Does not have full control of this yet. Other:
Gem: Howlite Appearance: Wears black helmet with an opaque visor which she uses to protect here 2 large light sensitive eyes, it effectively has 5 cameras (capable of detecting various wavelengths of light) in it, that all dulled to a light level suitable for her 2 owlish eyes. The visor has 5 marks indicating the location and these are synced up with her own eyes state, resulting in 5 expressive elliptical shapes on the visor. the visor can also display images instead of the eye marks to allow others to see data she has or emote in more absurd ways ([ ! ],[ ? ],[0_0]). a collection of straps over her chest and back attach a backpack which has 4 extendable manipulator arms with 3 fingered claws on the end used either for rapid movement, climbing or helping with work. At the front the straps link to a ring shaped device around her gem that currently serves no purpose than to act as a counterweight to the backpack, but has plenty of room for new features. She wears a pair of white gloves, turquoise shorts and wee booties. her skin is gray-blue-white in color, her arms and legs are covered in random dark markings. She has a pale blue hair with a braid coming out of the back of her helmet which has a ring at the end which contain data storage and various wireless communications devices. She is about 4 feet tall.
Gem Placement: Center of chest Gem Item: Gladius
Powers:
active: Techno-Empathy, she can like her mind with a device and ether operate it or read/write data at incredible speed, using this and her small light frame she can create devices that would require advanced AI to work properly like robotic limbs or mecha, while humans can create materials and motors suitable of these functions she bypasses the walking/balance/interface problem that plagues robotics. This only works through making contact with the device itself or wiring linked to it with her hair. Passive: Her hair is prehensile, the long braid at the back can be split to create small fine manipulators or to touch individual machines to us her Techno-Empathy on them.
Backstory:
Howlite’s are data analysts and software/cybernetics engineers , anything that might be some kind of computer is their domain. Emerging in early 20th century america doesn't give much opportunity to use this skill, anything easily accessible was quickly to made into her data ring, helmet and backpack before running out of material. Having concluded that everything else nearby is either “primitive”, broken or filled with corrupted gems she succumbed to purposeless boredom (and low battery on her equipment) and went back and slept (having learned about this and a few other things during a few brief confusing conversations with members of the local dominant species, the American) in her hole for 100 years, only to be awoken by the construction of the city. She is extremely interested in all the data the humans have now got electronically stored and intends to parse all of it, every last bit.
-Invisibility: Technically, Spinel is always invisible, but her body normally emits a ghostly white glow. With enough focus, she can suppress her body's glow and become transparent. She can do this for up to 30 minutes while completely still, or 10 minutes while moving. The drawback of this ability is that she is significantly worse than others at hiding in the dark without something covering her.
-Silent steps: Because of her light body, Spinel's footsteps are almost entirely inaudible to most human or gem ears.
-Combat reflexes: Spinel isn't a natural born fighter, but she is built for agility and has become adept at using this to her advantage.
-Analyst (2): Being an information and reconnaissance gem by nature, Spinel is second to none at learning and retaining information. At this point in her existence, Spinel is a walking database of information, both on gems and many species that gems have been in contact with.
Backstory: Spinel was created many thousands of years ago, and is among the few remaining Era One White Spinels. While every White Spinel is expected to be able to suppress their emotions to a degree, in order to serve in their intended capacity as recon gems, Spinel was a very unique case, displaying no ability to feel emotion at all. Initially this was seen as a serious defect, as it severely impaired her ability to make decisions. Early in her life, her lack of any natural survival instinct and inability to make even basic decisions on her own nearly led to her being labeled as defective and scrapped. This was never done, however, after Spinel demonstrated her ability to flawlessly recall and carry out the orders of her superiors. Despite everything else, it seemed that she did at least have one natural instinct, that being to follow orders.
As Spinel gained more experience, she became well known as a consultant of sorts, and her presence was often requested along with that of a Sapphire when preparing for an important mission: the Sapphire for her ability to predict the future, and Spinel to weigh that information against her extensive knowledge of the past and present. Because of her stealth abilities, she was used as a spy in many missions against the Crystal Gems during the war.
Despite the respect her skills eventually gained her, Spinel never had many friends among gems and didn't usually associate with them. Spinel has always seen herself more as a piece of technology than a true individual, and has never taken issue with being treated as such. In addition, even those who were familiar with her often found her presence unsettling due to her behavior. Between missions, Spinel has been known to merely stand silently in one place for days unless told to do otherwise, and never engages in conversation that doesn't relate to a mission.
Either by his personal request, or because the Diamond Authority decided she would be a good fit, Spinel has been assigned to Bloodstone for his current mission to Earth.
Details: Carmen stand's at a towering 6'4, which is only made more imposing by his lean, chiseled musculature. His skin is sickly pale, his hair is pure white, and his eyes are an unnatural shade of red, due to Carmen's albinism. He doesn't let this stop him from going out in the sun, though, and can be found wearing his hoodie, along with his rucksack full of tricks and inventions.
Biography: Born to a surgeon mother and renowned physicist father, Carmen was destined for great things. Things might have been grander still, had he not been born albino and ostracized by other children his age. From a very young age, Carmen found that children this day and age weren't accepting of people that didn't fit their definitions of normal, especially when the odd one out looked like a gem. That was often times the thing Carmen heard most. 'It's the gem kid, stay back or he'll suck all the life from you.' 'Ew, its the gem. Why didn't you leave with the others?'. Without much of a social life to worry about, Carmen threw himself into other activities instead; He had to get smart if he wanted to prove these assholes wrong, and he had to get tough to fend off the regular bouts of bullying he suffered.
That isn't to say that Carmen didn't have friends. He had one; One day, during spring break, Carmen was dragged along with his mother to a house call, some rich stiff's son having hurt himself playing with things he shouldn't have was all he'd been told. Expecting another brat that was going to give him grief for his appearance, Carmen was surprised to find that his mother was the 'family doctor' for none other than the Dorvian household. Carmen had seen the young man around school, but never approached or been approached, keeping his usual distance from others.
That day sparked a friendship to last a lifetime. Reggie was the one person that had commented on his gem appearance with wonder instead of fear or hate. The one student that matched his fascination with technology and machinery. His relationship to the biggest weapons manufacturer in the world probably helped with that, but it only helped to polarize him from other students, due to the origins of those weapons. Not that he or Reggie cared, there was far too much to create to worry about the opinions of peons.
Carmen continued to study hard and played even harder, going out of his way to find ways to push his young body to become stronger. It was during one such day that Carmen found himself trying to climb up the side of a building, and once it started raining on him, falling from it. The boy was saved, however, by a creature that stunned him into silence with its appearance. Tall and gaunt, the Selenite that saved him had mistaken him for one of her own kind due to their strikingly similar appearances; Pale skin, white hair, pink eyes. The only major difference was his lack of large wings, and the stoic mask over her face. The Selenite began to scold him for disobeying mission parameters, taking unnecessary risk, and for being somewhere so open without his mask, even if it was off Homeworld.
It wasn't until the child started crying that the Selenite realized something was amiss, and as she shielded the crying boy from the rain with with a wing and reached out a comforting hand, she realized this was not one of her unit, but a human. Once Carmen had calmed down from the fright of his near-death experience, the gem made sure he was okay, asked him what he was doing, what he was, why he looked so similar to one of her own kind. Carmen explained his disease, how other saw him, how he almost wished Selenite hadn't saved him, just so he could finally be at peace and not be constantly stared at, pointed at, whispered behind his back about.
The Selenite wove him a tale, then. The story of her kind, her unit. They were imperfect, defects. They were supposed to be gypsum, graceful warriors and commanders, but had come out Selenite, too weak and soft for combat. They were of a low caste in society, used as expendable scouts to be sent into dangerous places without regard for weather or not they came out alive. To others, they were merely tools, things to be used and destroyed if they didn't perform as they were instructed, simply because they'd come out differently. They were one in the same despite being different species altogether.
"The key," Selenite had said, looking the little human in the eye, "Is to prove them wrong. The reason I'm here is because I survived. I proved I was more than just a weak gem. My team and I have gone to some of the most dangerous places in the universe, and we prevailed. We were told we were lesser. We were told we would die on our first mission, if not our second. Yet here we are, dozens later, on the most important mission of our lives. We worked hard and proved them wrong, despite our appearance, despite our 'defects'."
These words have stayed with Carmen constantly, providing him with the will to move through even his darkest days. The Selenite, happy to have improved someone else's view on the world, passed on her mask to him. She told Carmen that if he continued to improve himself, to prove others wrong, that she'd return for him one day, and see how much he'd grown, how much he'd proven the doubters wrong. He just had to survive and thrive until she did so, and hold on to her mask so she could find him again.
Come middle-school, no one talked to Carmen but Reggie. There were whispers behind his back, dirty looks shot from across the classroom, but everyone that had tried to push him around quickly found he pushed back, a whole hell of a lot harder, in the face. Happy he'd created a safety bubble around himself, Carmen simply continued to work on sharpening his mind and strengthening his body, just to make sure he could stay far enough ahead of the pack they wouldn't be able to snap at him.
Carmen found out in highschool that being tough wasn't always enough, not when people that weren't as tough traveled in packs. He also found out that being tough isn't nearly as effective if you aren't also quick. So, Carmen got quick, did his best to stick to his AP and honors classes, and started working on robotics fair projects with Reggie. But, if he was putting his mind to practical use, why not his body?
And so Carmen became the 'mail man' for Crystalisis. There was never a package too sensitive or delivery too illegal, so long as he could fit it in his bag. He experienced many a nasty fall, numerous broken bones, and enough fractures to put the grand canyon to shame, but he didn't let that stop him. He was always back on the rooftops the second he was able to run and jump effectively. But he did eventually grow tired of his parents repeated scoldings and threats of locking down his workshop. If he was going to do this, he was going to do it right. So, with some help from Reggie and Reggie's Father's resources, he developed his wrist-mounted grappling hook, and invention that won both himself and Reggie their senior science fair. To celebrate both this accomplishment and Carmen's 18th birthday, as well as his obtaining a driver's license, they managed to ship him over a rickshaw.
Not one to be satisfied with a pea-sized engine, Carmen used his savings to purchase an engine from a sports bike and placed that in it instead. But, since it was already in the chop shop, why not trick it out further? Undercarriage lights, the nicest stereo system he could afford to fit in its small interior, smokescreen, rear-mounted flamethrower, caltrop compartment... He may have went a little overboard, but by the time he was done, Carmen had quiet the machine. And, with all that power in the engine and his history of minor lawbreaking, Carmen took it racing.
During one of these races, Carmen came up against a young man simply known as Solis. A bronze-skinned, gold-eyed charmer that smelled of exotic spices and oozed charisma, and had been making a fuss in the underground circuit for traveling across the country and beating everyone he came across. The polar opposite of Carmen, who was still just starting to eek out a name for himself, in his tricked out rickshaw. He hated this upstart from the get-go, and Solis seemed to catch Carmen's glares and reciprocate the gesture, throwing his weight around the meeting spot, trying to show off and boast, make a point of telling Carmen he had no chance of winning in his 'dinky little scooter'.
Come race day, Carmen had a vendetta. He spent the entire day and most of the night before fine-tuning, tweaking, making sure everything would be perfect. When the flag was dropped, he and Solis were ahead of the pack in an instant, overtaking eachother over and over again, Carmen's tricked out Tuk-Tuk and Solis' equally tricked out dunebuggy neck and neck up until the end.
Carmen won by less than an inch, as the camera at the finish line showed. People cheered, praised him, asked if they could go for a spin... Solis among them, to his surprise. His rival apologized for his aggression, even going so far as to offer Carmen a free ticket to the show his family was putting on outside of town. This was how Carmen first came to meet the Sunwalkers, a group of gypsies that traveled not just the continent, but the globe. Carmen and the small group of people that had caught wind of their arrival were mesmerized by their show, the dancing and the music, the stories that were told.
Carmen spent a large part of his free time in the summer with the Sunwalkers, hanging out with Solis, taking in the culture, and learning a fair bit of their dances and recipes. In exchange, he helped with maintenance on their vehicles and made a few gadgets for helping out in their shows. He was stunned to find people that were complete strangers so accepting, recieving not a single comment on his appearance. He made many friends in his short time with the Sunwalker, but unfortunately, fall came, and with the change of seasons came a need to change locations. Carmen bid the Sunwalkers goodbye, keeping what he'd learned from them close to heart.
Now on the cusp of his 21st birthday, Carmen has full run of his family's home in Crystalisis. His mother and father moved to France shortly after he graduated highschool, with his father working at the Hadron Collider and his mother teaching at medical schools across Europe. Carmen stayed in Crystalisis to pursue his Doctorate in engineering, to continue to develop his rooftop-running skills, and to continue to build a name for himself in the underground racing circuit.
Carmen's getting a degree in engineering with a minor in robotics, and as such, he's quiet the handy guy to have around. His garage has been converting into a workshop for all of his inventions and machines, many of which he uses to help him navigate the city for his side job, and others for his own amusement.
Carmen was very active, even from a young age. His parents were always terrified that he'd climb somewhere and fall, but thankfully for them all, he never did... To their knowledge. This affinity of climbing and running along high places has followed him through life, and now he's quiet the parkour runner, using the skills he's gained from his years to deliver packages, both benign and too 'sensitive' for lawful eyes.
Carmen picked up quiet a few things from the Sunwalkers, including modest belly-dancing skills and an infinity for the acoustic guitar, which he likes to play when he's stressed or has a lot on his mind.
A fully-functioning, arm-mounted grappling gun.. His is a bit more compact, the reeling mechanism is much more powerful, and he uses a stronger, carbon fiber cable. He's also forgone a CO2 canister in favor of magnetic repulsion, allowing it to shoot just as far, if not farther. The mechanism on the end is a claw, clamping tight around either the cable or whatever surface presses the pressure-sensitive switch in the middle, allowing Carmen greater mobility and options in what he can grapple onto, and the claw can be clamped shut and open manually by pressing a button on the side of the glove the grappling hook sits on.
His ((Hastily drawn)) mask, given to him by a 'friend' he refuses to talk about. He rarely wears it during the day, but its nice to have something to hide his face when he's already doing shady things at night. He'll use it when welding too, as it seems impervious to most heat damage, and it effectively asks as a pair of welding goggles in the presence of bright light, while allowing him to see normally otherwise. The 'eyes' are only visible when worn, and mimic the color of the wearer's own eyes.
Carmen's quiet the speed demon on the road, with his tricked-out Tuk-Tuk. He's put a lot of time and money into his, the thing able to reach speeds of most high-end racing motorcycles.
A Gauss Gun, hand-made and machined at the workshop at Crystalisis University. Carmen's Gauss Gun is modular and much stronger than the device shown in the video, with only a small increase in size to compensate. The upper 1/3rd of the rifle can be removed and turned into a non-lethal (but still quiet painful) semi-automatic pistol version, with the handle and trigger folding up or down as needed. The back 2/3rds convert it into a rifle with a stock, give it lethal functionality, and allow for both semi-automatic and fully automatic firing modes, with rails and grooves for extra attachments as Carmen develops them. A second handle and trigger are located on the stock piece to allow for easier firing, and allow the front to act as a fore-grip. It will most commonly be in pistol form, to be used as a deterrent when running shadier packages around the city, but he almost always has the stock piece with him, just in case.
Other: Carmen's got quiet the sweet tooth. Favors can often be bought for a bag of gummy worms or a chocolate orange.
While Carmen has thankfully been spared many of the physical abnormalities that normally plague albinos, he has received photo-sensitivity of the skin. He cannot be out in the sun without some sort of covering over himself for more than a short time without starting to develop a sunburn, and prolonged exposure can lead to an excruciatingly bad sunburn.
Name:Sodalite Gem:Sodalite Appearance: Gem Placement:Near the top of her head Gem Item: Bo Staff Powers: Omnilingualism, the ability to learn and use any language almost instantly. Knowledge assimilation, Sodalite never forgets anything, and can read an entire book in a matter of minutes while still retaining each and every word and its placement. Predictive brain, Faux future vision, Sodalite's realm of knowledge allows her to think of different possibilities of the current situation, but not to the effect of a Sapphire. Visor Generation. A later model during the war, Sodalite can generate a simple heads-up-display, allowing for easy access and management of information. Backstory: Sodalite is a former Linguistics officer, Negotiations officer, and a brief tactitian for the homeworld. Once the war began to start, she questioned her leaders, and eventually left to assist Earth and use her knowledge to help drive Homeworld away. Other:
Name: Chloe, Clino, or Clinohumite (in order of preference) ~ Gem: Clinohumite. ~ Appearance: Flashy, Sassy, and all around the center of any attention she can get. Chloe loves to keep a sly smirk on her face at all times, and a thick aura of pride almost exudes from her. Parental figures hate her, most other newborns envy her, and she just thinks herself to be the bee's knees overall. Fashion-wise: orange, more orange, spandex, and "those great visors over there"! ~ Gem Placement: Right smack-dab in the middle of her forehead. ~ Gem Item: For such a frail and slender-built gem, Chloe packs a punch with a set of metal-studded gloves for weaponry. This duo of fashionable killing machines allows the gem to get into the thick of battle and smash in faces with the timeless beauty of leather embellishment. ~
Active Power, Earthly Undertow: Chloe never plays fair, and why should she? With the kind of powers she formed in the Kindergarten, who wouldn't cheat a little? The orange gem has the ability to be able to drill herself into rocks or the silt of the ground as to wait for enemies or, really, anyone else to walk by. During this sort-of 'stasis' in the ground, Chloe can erupt to the surface to confront others or, preferably, drag them down to her. Both are equally surprising. This power can be used for offensive purposes and even clever hiding, but there are limits to what Chloe can do with it. Minerals harder than normal rock she is unable to breach. As well, she cannot drill into rocks and other dense substances very far. ~ Passive Power, Eternal Beauty: Now, when your sifting through dirt and rocks all day like Chloe, you're bound to get a little dirty, right? The answer is of course: absolutely not! This orange gem is resistant to the soiling of her appearance or clothing. Dust, mud, you name it: Clinohumite's physical form just let's it slide right off. As well, this passive also applies to the gem's large mane of hair: it's locks are forever flowing, and never knotty.
~ Other:
The Super Soldiers of Earth: Born and developed to quickly end the Earth rebellion amassing against Homeworld, the Clinohumites were rare gems specifically developed for guerrilla warfare on the rocky surface of this 'precious' planet. Furthermore, these experimental, unorthodox warriors were also used for successful propaganda techniques to fight against the more subtle, mental battle taking place on Homeworld: hence their beauty, inability to be soiled, and flashy battle-tactics. The Clinohumites were especially good at both of these aspects, becoming an impenetrable force on the battlefield before being stopped abruptly in their tracks by weaponry designed by the rebellion's famous Bismuth. Geo-probes were sent out against the Clinohumite platoons quickly, decimating them as they waited in rock formations to surprise rebellion convoys. The gems were starting to be constantly caught in their cramped assualt spaces by small, motorized, physical-form destroying drills: something they, ultimately, could never overcome. If it weren't for the rebellion's quick-thinking and interesting resources, the Clinohumites would have easily won the war for Homeworld. Their assaults were devastating, their tactics unfair, and their beauty: unmatched. If anything, they did make sizable dent in the rebellion's forces before quickly disappearing. But, again, the rebellion's ingenuity was something these super soldier gems could only dream to match. The whole of the recorded Clinohumites were quickly scraped due to their mass failure, and only a select few now exist across the universe. Chloe could very well be the last one of her kind on Earth, having dodged the whole war out-right.
Topaz stands at around 5'5", and has a habit of playing with her long hair when nervous or over-excited. Topaz is generally quite the eager gem, and can often run head-first into danger without thinking about the consequences. However, this can often lead to a good deal of fun and amusement. Mostly, anyway. On the other hand, she can often come across as rather blunt and tactless, despite being a generally good-hearted person. What with learning all the new things of this world, Topaz tends to forget how stating certain facts (Such as how squishy and easy-to-destroy humans are) can be upsetting to some.
Gem Placement: The middle of her diaphragm, just below her breasts.
Gem Item: Dual swords. They can connect at the hilts to create a large, double-ended sword with a two-hand grip.
Powers: Active: Aerokinesis: Topaz is capable of manipulating air to such an extent that she is able to "fly", or block blows from outside forces, such as attacks, or falling from a great height. However, this power becomes less effective when using her power too much at once, or for a long period of time.
Passive: Clarity: Also called "Instant Understanding", Topaz is able to assimilate and understand new information about anything at a superpowered rate of learning. This also includes near-perfect recollection of past memories or events for future reference. However, she does not have the intuition to know if whatever she is learning is true or not - nor can she perceive future events based on past ones.
Other: Topaz Gems were created to be the perfect Spy; while Blue Topaz had more offensive capabilities, Yellow (Or Golden) Topaz Gems were better used for observation and infiltration of enemy ranks. However, this became a nearly impossible feat against the Crystal Gems, who hid too well and had too-closed ranks for a spy to get in unseen. So, creation of the Golden Topaz Spies were dwindling, the Diamonds instead electing to create their stronger Blue cousins to fight in the war. If there were Golden Topaz left, their skills of learning and spying were unused.
Name: Detective Alexandria "Alex" Di Santi
Age: 30
Sex: Female
Appearance:
Alex is a tall and formidable woman at a height of 5'10", paired with either a deadpan expression or cynical smile most of the time. A cigarette is usually seen dangling from her lips, being a habit she gave up attempting to give up years ago. Her eyes are maroon, when reading they are hidden behind delicate rectangular frames of plain metal; she's not one for frills. Her fashion sense mirrors this too, wearing usually neutral colours of button-down shirts and slacks. When not tied up into a sloppy ponytail, her dyed-red hair can have a slight wave to it, falling free to her mid-back.
Backstory: Alex's life was pretty typical. Grew up in a bustling American-Italian household, and being the second girl among 2 sisters and 3 brothers; she often had to fight for attention from her parents, who, while very busy with jobs and looking after 6 kids, still loved them all equally. Eventually Alex just chose to stop fighting and caring for attention, and found that life was a lot easier after that. School came and went, her oldest siblings marrying straight out of high school and adding to their already huge family with kids of their own. Alex, however, had different plans. While she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps and join the Police force, she still wanted to go to college. Excelling in her classes with nought but excellent behaviour and hard work (barring a few run-ins with her fists and bullies, but most were boys too embarrassed to admit they'd been taken down by a girl - it never came back to haunt her, thankfully for her education), Alex won a scholarship for a fairly decent college in Crystalisis, and moved there to study Law and Psychology.
Being rather proficient for her age in self-defence and some martial arts, Alex got a job as a security guard at some high-flying technology company. It was a decent wage, and she struck up a decent friendship with a few of the workers there. Time passed, Alex got her degree, and finally, she was able to join the police at the age of 22. However, it was not long after this that her life became much darker.
What with doing so well in college and the entrance examinations for the force, Alex went up through the ranks of the Police quite quickly; again, she was putting in nearly extreme amounts of hard work in the hopes of stopping criminals and impressing her superior officers. She became known for spending extra hours at work when she'd exceeded her maximum amount of overtime for the month; while the other's went on night's out, she would pore over cases at home, drinking and smoking through the night by herself until gaining some insight into something that she had missed before. Alex never became uncomfortable with this lifestyle; she started to think that friends would be nothing more than a distraction from her work. But one case, one crime, changed this outlook for Alex.
After following a string of break-ins at several companies in town - one of them being the old technology company she had worked for years ago - Alex and her team finally found the perpetrator. It led to a car chase that undoubtedly looked exciting on TV, but for Alex, it was chaos. The car ended up flipped over on the highway out of town, the thief scrambling out and shooting blindly towards the officers. They were all wearing vests - he wasn't. 3 bullets to the chest and he was down, with nothing more than a few bruises and minor cuts from ricochets for the officers. But Alex was changed by all of this. She had been the one to kill him, and even after all of her time on the force, this was the first time she'd had to kill somebody. It turned out the guy was an old tech advisor for the company she had worked for; kicked out for being late too many times. These robberies had been a blind and panicked attempt to get money to feed his kids and pay the rent, nobody had been hurt until that day.
After this, Alex lost her inspiration for work. People kept telling her "It was part of the job", but she didn't like this part of the job. As a child, looking up to her father, she assumed she could handle the responsibility of taking a life, and by default, potentially ruining somebody else's. But she couldn't - so she left.
That was 2 years ago now; shortly after leaving she set up her own Private Investigation company, allowing her to pick and choose cases that she knows will help people, but won't lead to bloodshed like with the police. Recently, she's been doing her own personal investigation into supposed "Gems" in the city. Nobody seems to know what or who they are, and the mystery behind them has brought that curious intrigue back into Alex's life. She believes now is the time to investigate just a little bit deeper...
Skills:
Advanced Hand-To-Hand combat; having started lessons in arts such as Tae Kwon Do, Brazilian Jui Jitsu and Kick-Boxing at a young age, Alex has seen and done enough in her life to be fairly advanced in fighting people. The training has aided her in developing better reflexes, endurance and strength.
Marksmanship; The Police are trained in a number of ways, especially when it comes to firearms. Having put in more practice hours than anyone in her graduating class, Alex has impeccable aim with a large number of firearms. She still needs to work on her pitching though - she may need to throw a grenade one day, for some reason. Or y'know, a baseball like a normal person.
Strategic and Intuitive thinking; to catch criminals, you've got to think like one. Over the years, Alex has become used to plotting and thinking one step ahead of her suspects in order to catch them.
Other: With her previous ties to the police and the technology company, she is sometimes able to get her hands on prototype weapons before they're put on the market. Her old techno buddies will even add some less than legal mods to guns for an added extra punch - normally she would refuse such things, what with her disagreement with killing humans. But the more she learns of the Gems, the more she appreciates these extra punches.
Has a favourite black motorcycle, but also has an army jeep passed down to her from her brother as a graduation present.
Also has kept a bunch of generic police stuff, such as riot gear, handcuffs, tracking devices, bugs, tasers, mace, and a stapler she stole from a douchebag colleague.
Drinks and smokes too much to be healthy, but she stopped caring about that a long time ago.
Her partner in the PI Agency is Captain Jugular, Jug-Jug for short. She named him it jokingly at first ("Because that's where I've trained him to bite", she would tell terrified witnesses), but now he won't answer to any other name so it's kind of stuck.
Name: Rhodonite(may acquire a nickname, if someone gives her one) Gem:
Appearance: Tall, with powerful thighs and strong shoulders. Her skin is dark, but with a pink, mottled sort of pattern. Her hair is black, curly, and cut asymmetrical: bald on one side and around her shoulder on the other. Her form is garbed in a sleeveless, form fitting dress in magenta. The skirt comes down to her knees and is looser than the top. The collar is tight around her neck, almost to her chin. There’s a cutout for her gem on the back, and she is barefoot.
Gem Placement: Her lower back
Studded Club
Active Power: Denial. Rhodonite can repel anything away from herself at great speed with a touch. This is not the same as striking them, and doesn't deal direct damage.
Passive Power: Sturdy. When both feet are planted on the ground, Rhodonite cannot be moved against her will.
Other: Like Jaspers, Rhodonites were made out of desperation, from resources that Homeworld considered inferior. No matter how efficacious they turned out to be, Rhodonites were always distant from the first choice for any job. It was not at all uncommon for a Rhodonite(or a whole squad, for that matter) to be commanded to stand guard in a place, and then simply forgotten about. Even if their physical form is destroyed, and the object of their guardianship has been destroyed or removed, when they reformed, many Rhodonites simply continue to stand where they were ordered. This Rhodonite has sisters in out of the way places all over Earth, just standing, waiting for someone of authority to give them a new post.
