I was thinking that maybe Rena is outside in the woods surroubding the castle setting up the defensive barrier around the property. So he could propably be back any time to join for whatever you have planned.

And about his position. He has been with the coven for a year or so. Maybe the one who took him in perished in an unfortunate accident? There is also the issue on how he addresses the head witch. He kneels? Calls her mistress? And how is he treated?

I'm afraid Jared will be set back once again and have to wait for his beverage once again, given the rapidly escalating situation at the tavern. Aaaaand I think it would not be exaggerated if he'd rather not be amused about being covered in sticky grenade payload I suspect ?

Not quite a need for a full group collab yet.

@Bishop

Sounds good to me... As a male witch he'd be under the direct supervision of another witch. If you'd like to go with the original owner having perished in an unfortunate accident, default would go to either Mirai or Rose. Either way, treated like garbage, though probably not as much so as poor Arden (sorry not sorry). Something casual but respectful toward any of the other witches, bowed head especially for Rose.

Also, @Bishop as a witcher with some knowledge of runes... How would you like to be the bearer of information no one else has? ^.^

Edit for clarification: It is typical for a male witch to be under the supervision of a witch, but you do get oddballs from time to time.

This is also true. Doesn't change the treatment much though.

Just asking out of curiosity, but how does that system work? The placement and treatment of male witches, that is. I understand that they are seen as "lesser", but wouldn't the authority over such individuals be placed under that of the elder witches, even if the Coven Mother is somewhat younger than the elders (this is in the hypothetical situation of where the elders of a coven take care of the young and weak, aka children, ill and men)? This doesn't really affect the situation with Bishop (since the only coven in the area is led by a relatively young witch, along with a few "lone wolves"), but I'm asking just for the sake of asking XD

...Are you all talking about me?

My planned witch's name is Starrk Stern, by the way. His specialty is lithomancy and enchantment- magical arms and armor, to put it simply.

I know I'm not Libby, but!

My development of the system is based on historical views on the female. They have their place and their place is under the 'head of the family' (aka the female witch) most do it because that is how it is alway done. They go from the protection of their mothers and sisters to their covent. Some hate it, some don't mind it and some don't know that there is any other way. Male witches that came from outside magic tend to really struggle with the idea of being under a woman. They tend to reject it and get killed for being untrained, thus perpetuating the idea that male witches are too weak to be without a female leader and some are 'encourage' to find a kind witch 'for their own safety'. But every once and a while you get a powerful male witch who don't need no woman.

Basically: There are no rules, humans are just sheep in the wills of the world.

Enchantment, my favorite kind of magic. I would have used it for my character as well, but I felt like I've used it a little too much..

I love how Mirai calls Elaine a child, when the later is older than the former by 40+ years XD

She looks younger than she is, but still... I'm so happy with my design choices. I keep laughing hysterically for some ungodly reason.

Also, because male witches are pretty rare in the world they are valued because male witches are better than non-witch males and always sire magical children and the children are always stronger than any other combination of pairings.

SO there is also that....

@Xiro Zean His current focus is in Awakening- imbuing weapons, armor, and other objects with a semblance of life, allowing them to operate independently.

I'm going full-on McGonagall, with the walking, fighting suits of armor.

Nah, not targeting you. Continue on in your ways.

@Xiro Zean

The way that I saw it, it's essentially because they are seen as weaker that causes them to seek out a witch to "care" for them. Arden is a special case as his partnership is punishment for a transgression... Soooo technically it isn't so much that they're placed anywhere, but rather look for the most powerful shield to hide behind. With the set up we have now, that would be either Rose or Mirai for now.

And witches tend to do it because a)what they feel is moral obligation b) they are supposed to. c)cool pet d) powerful heirs.

Not unheard of for covens to keep a male just for that purpose.

@Xiro Zean

I see the mother/daughter relationship in a coven is more based on

"I have more power than you in some way"

Age is but a number....
