@alexfangtalon Hey, do you think Chaz would make a good partner for her? I was actually thinking of a character similar to yours for his partner if I had to make one myself.

Unless of course the GMs have a problem.

@Lord Szall@Turboshitter

While you have a point in that the quality is generally better, the real problem is that for a collab, both people have to check up or be on extremly regularly, which some people do better then others.

Yes, with the right dedication, you could move a collab forward quickly.

In theory.

In reality, shit does happen, and collabs end up delayed, or one ormthe other (sometimes both) fail to be active, dragging the whole thing through a mire of inerta. Maybe it you had the right pair, in the right timezones, with the right schedules, then MAYBE you could collab. But the chances of that happening with complete strangers is astronomically low. The problem is further compounded the more people you have. A four v four (Two mister and weapon pairs) is just barely on this side of feasible within any resonable timeframe. There is another problem, the weapon will, generaly, have a lot less to add, since it is the mister doing the fighting, they will have dialogue and little else.

All that in mind, its a lot easier to just spend an hour or two every two days to a week on a post, and a one v one is an order of magnitude easier then larger groups.

Tldr: Collabs suck.

Take it from me, I'm in one that has a mere 3 people and yet had gone for months.

Now, on that subject, I would like to provide some thoughts on PvP, in the interest of preventing the very common problems I see in every roleplay that attempts to include it....

In my next post!

Duh duh duuuuhhhh!

I would like to chime in that any RP that has more than one person (including 1x1) are technically collabs, otherwise it's just a fanfic or small story. We are trying to collaborate on creating a story all of us enjoy. One person dropping out while controlling both weapon and Meister can be just as bad (if not worse) then one part of a pair.

As for the fights in this RP, yes the weapons might have (a bit) less to do then they normally would, however they are still their own characters, meaning they can argue against actions, use their own abilities, or plain out revolt against their Meister and do there own thing. Not only that but it could easily be done that the weapon has to use their own abilities/techniques without the Meister having more then the ability to request it. Not only that but in the show (and I'm sure in the manga as well, still need to read it if someone would be kind enough to pm me to a good site...) the meister and weapon occasionally have to (or get) separate/d during a fight.

Also, Thinking about it don't the teams have to be Meister and weapon pairs/teams for the Team Resonance?

@Zardoric

(Okay, so not next post, but think of this as post 1.5 :^) )

That is an interesting perspective, this is technically one big collab. The main difference being posting in chunks verses being able to talk directly.

@Three Would you be interested in pairing Claudius with Amy? I'm still debating whether or not to accept @Lord Szall's offer, because while someone who's Chrona-esque could be an interesting partner, Amy can only deal with so much crazy. A split personality would be a bit much even for someone with a more relaxed and open attitude to life like her, and then the whole thing with him technically being a Witch would set off way too many alarm bells for her, because aside from past experiences leaving her reticent to try Soul Resonance with anyone, the touch of a Witch's soul would bring back way too many memories from a time in her life she came to the DWMA to forget.

Sorry Szall :(

And anyway, I think that for a pairing like this, the mutual difficulties of having to overcome both Claudius' lack of talent (magical or otherwise for the sake of Amy's biases lol) and Amy's eh... personal issues would make achieving Soul Resonance feel like it really carries some significant weight in terms of character development.

Idea, everyone, go ahead and make a meister AND a weapon CS. You can still choose to only play one of the two but this way, you have a back-up should one of you get screwed over.

Now, if your partner dies, you'll have a spare meister or weapon to get transferred in.

I mean, how you survive the intermission between losing your partner and getting a new one is still up for debate but I think you'll be fine.

@Turboshitter Thanks for getting back on that.

@Kouki I might in the emergency case of "I don't end up partnering with anyone." Either that or I won't use ANY weapon, and just temporarily use other weapons.

ANY WEAPON WHO NEEDS A PARTNER, I'm Open.

@KoukiAlright make both a weapon and a meister? I can do that, it was something I preferred anyway. for that same reason if something happens to the person playing the other part someone needs. I'll just put together another character while still making the one I was originally going to make

I can make a meister as well. They will just be on the backburner if I get accepted and am partnered with someone. If I am partnered with someone they will just be a part of the NOT class until needed.

Sure, works for me.

@Kouki
I guess I'll just go ahead and app Claudius's sister as a weapon to be in stasis until needed, I suppose. That'll be up later.

it is after all merely appropriate for her age.

The use of the word "merely" makes me feel like you misunderstand what constitute's as "age appropriate" in this universe's context.

To think we basically have who knows how many people essentially viding for the last... possibly 3 spots if we do separate people for Meister and weapon. While if control both of the same team then only one person. So it's pretty much a race to who ever can provide the best CS(s) of them all. Well that's if we stick to the 3 person format.

So far made some changed to the weapon I've come up with though I know it's lacking something though hard to think of it lol. Made it to chapter 90 of the manga, and I have to say holy s%#^ at the insane amount of difference.

Not really? Even considering the nature of the world, the younger someone is the more important a gap in experience can be. The gap between someone who's been training for a handful years/hasn't ever had to fight for her life because of coddling parents and someone who's been training for only a couple of years moreso is going to be much more than the same couple of years' gap when the two have been training for several decades. She's competent and was deemed solid enough to be sent an offer letter, but when push comes to shove she just doesn't have much real combat experience that's not from sparring.

What they mean is Diana isn't battle hardened or have nearly as much experience as say someone who even has a year worth of collecting souls and battling monsters. That kind of experience is nothing against simple classroom environments and training.

Exactly. What they said lol. @Kouki Realistically for EAT students their training (like with all things) isn't really tested until thrown up against the real thing.

(bonus points Three for making a note of that in your CS)

@olcharlieboi It's not a race. We don't have the official thread up yet, that is when we're going to put a deadline for CS submission and where you can submit your final CS for review.

For an EAT student (Especially Advantaged Talent Class), classes are battle, they're synonymous for one another, that's the world of an EAT student. Hell, they're considered part of the DWMA's military. They're the 10% of the entire school that have already proven to be extraordinary. Their class assignments include fighting the demonic spirit of Jack the ripper, taking on a possessed god mummy in an ancient pyramid and assassinating the yakuza.

Yeah, if it's sinking in, assassinations are extra-credit assignments.

Realistically, a student who is both an EAT student (the elite 10% of the school) and a candidate for Spartoi (The elite 10% of said elite 10%) can't be inexperienced. Diana's weaker than Maka, which, by Maka's own admission, is pretty weak. And I'm talkin' at the start of the series so that's pretty bad.

You have to remember that EAT students are already only 10% of the actual school, to be an EAT class student period means you're capable of advanced level combat. And to be a Spartoi candidate, you have to be a two-star level combatant which is the highest a student can be. Meaning, to be-

deemed solid enough to be sent an offer letter

Speaks exponentially of your skill level.

Again, context is key.

What you guys describe are the constraints of a NOT student but EAT is essentially a military institution with being ready for military level dangers a prerequisite for attending classes.

Hrm fair points. My only note is that DWMA certainly has the power of a militant force but I'm not sure about EAT students being treated or executing themselves in such a disciplined manner of a typical military. Since they are, still students. Otherwise you make a good point in regards to experience, EAT isn't the shallow end of the pool.

The military thing is from the Wiki so it's fair to cast doubt on that but seeing how one of an EAT student's primary jobs is taking out people on Shinigami's list and they all carry ranks correlating to their combat ability along with the fact the DWMA functions as a worldwide police force, it's not a stretch to call them something akin to a military unit.

Plus, the only one who doesn't treat their missions with the severity they deserve is Black Star because he's....well, Black Star. All the other students act rather mature for their ages, even Soul holds a certain level of maturity. Having a lot of responsibility will do that..

...unless you're Black Star...
