So, how are we wanting to do this exactly? Like, available pokemon and what-not.

@Pyromania99 Honestly I'm still debating a few things. It could be a fairly normal Pokemon journey, in which case available pokemon would start out fairly weak, or it could be a pokemon slice-of-life type thing. The idea suggested earlier that our characters are incredibly strong trainers that live out normal lives with their at-least-legendary-tier pokemon kept secret is pretty appealing, though, and I'm now leaning towards that one.

It wouldn't really mean that the pokemon need to be legendaries exactly, but there'd need to be ways that they became very powerful if they were otherwise normal pokemon. I think it'd take a bit of tweaking to the world that's been established canonically but it could be really fun.

@papershuriken Well, Canonically, by the games, hardly anyone bats an eye at the fact that someone has a legendary. I think a Pokemon Slice-Of-Life in a city would be the way to go personally. Random city events and what not. Could be an evil team like thing. Of course, we could do a journey too. That'd be cool. I just want someone that has a lot of fairies. :3

So you mean Mega Evolution... Most Mega Evolved Pokemon can go head to head with legends and it isn't hard to make custom Megas. Just change/add a type and change the special ability.

I don't think we should limit the number of total Pokemon per se... but limit it to one Mega-evo capable pokemon and maybe two or three other powerful Pokemon, with the rest being more like pets or babies. And we can just scale the Champion up a bit.

As for another Idea... maybe we take turns "Hosting" events. So for one event say Paper host the event while his character leaves town for one reason or another. The next event has my character leave on a mission while the rest have to deal with something else. Another one where some/one of us stay at the city (and host) while a group goes on a mission of their own. In between of these major events we would have slice of life event sections possibly spanning years between Events.

We don't need Megas to contend with Legendary pokemon. Since this isn't the games, we aren't restricted to some silly things such as stats and what not and are allowed a bit more creative freedom. I'd like to think all pokemon if trained right could bring down a pokemon that is typically considered 'better' than it. A Ledian could even contend with a Dragonite with some nifty tactics.

There doesn't really need to be much of a change to source material, just don't bother with silly things like stats and go with what makes for a better story. If anything, they should be more realistically guidelines.

To be honest, I will nope out of here so hard if any 'Custom megas' will be a thing at all like Zardoric is suggesting. I am not much of a fan of any fan-made pokemon.

@Pyromania99 They did a little better with Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby's MC standing out IIRC, have not finished Moon to find out about that set though. I do like the event centered slice-of-life ideas.

@Rune_Alchemist, @Zardoric Based on the games, certain regular pokemon can indeed be OP, but it's usually pretty gimmicky and clever stuff that does it. In an RP, I think taking a different approach is more suitable.

Overall, I am leaning towards a more slice-of-life setting and building various events to add some interesting points to it. Battles will probably be an option to some degree still, and there may be points where battling is necessary, but there'll be a lot of pokemon kept simply for pets and such. There will probably be a bit of a limit to how many people can have, too.

Since I think I'm mostly settled on that now I'll just need to try putting together some event ideas to keep it going for a little while. I'll need one to start, and I'd like another couple on reserve for once we make it through the first as well. Ideas are still very welcome.

If it's just going to be a mostly slice of life thing I am unsure if I'll stick around, but eh...I'll have to see exactly to what degree battling would still be a thing.

@papershuriken Tossing my hat in here, perhaps slice of life with a bit of coming of age? Sort of themed on the journey with the character growing and discovering what they want to do?

Like, for example if there were five writers. The characters would either form groups or travel as one, with all of them having drives and goals.

Like some may wish to be champions, others to become the first to fill a Pokedex, and some will want to compete in contests to become mega stars. The friendships, hardship, rivalries, and danger that comes with traveling across a more untamed world trying to become the best, like no one ever was.

@Apollosarcher That's what most of the other Pokemon RP's are about... this one is trying to be different.

I don't see the point of trying to make a pokemon RP that removes the core aspects of what makes pokemon, pokemon, really. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

The core aspect of Pokémon is the Pokémon.
