Now I don't wanne be the 10th guy to ask you this today, but: is there possibly room for another familiar? Seemingly everybody wants to become some kinda "underling", but I really do want to play as someone without powers for a change. Well, sorta I guess.

So if its okay to have an extra familiar, then I'd love to apply.

Sure, you can apply for a Familiar! We're trying to balance things out, but if you submit a CS and get accepted, we'll work on pairing you up!

Oh, and just for clarification, Familiars aren't "underlings". Familiars and Mages are equals. Some Mages have more passive magic like Healing, Weather, Light, and Shadow, while Familiars might have more offensive abilities, like super strength, super speed, or telekinesis. It wholly depends on the magic type and ability that determines a character being offensive, passive, or support. :)

Also, everyone in the world is either a Mage or a Familiar, so there's no one without powers. A Mage is someone who can use magic, and a Familiar is someone who can't, but has lots of it and has an extraordinary ability.

@Invader Len Yea I understand, but I am just a simple man, when I see magic I upvote. Familiars are equals in a way where they seem like, to me at least, pawnish characters like the pairs who were with the chicks in Freezing. Surely invaluable for a mage, but as far as things go, I dont see them equal. This of course won't change anything RP wise (duh), only the feelings reflected by my character. Probably a familiar who wishes to be a mage or something. I'll see.

In all means, consider your RP to be one of the best around. Exactly this equality is what makes this so good. I admire it, and beleive me, I've read the OP carefully. I'll see what I can cook up for you tomorrow.

Let me just stop you right there spud. The character you are describing would not be realistic for the world me and my fellow gms have made. Your character saying they want to be a mage would just be very out of place. Also, a mage is incredibly weak without their familiar, and vice versa. A mage is no more and no less powerful than a familiar. Honestly being a familiar offers a lot more opportunities in this rp too. Mages are restricted to one of 12 magics. Familiars? The sky's the limit and some familiars can even have powers that either mimic some magic types or are completely protected from them. We have a character that is fire proof, which means if she were to attack one of the fire mages in this, guess what, they might as well not be mages for all the good their magic will do them. Plus having a character who sees magic users as the better goes against some of the lore we have too. So do not make that character that way. She won't fit in with the world.

Familiars are more than just batteries of magic to be drained. They not only have magic inside of them, they also have their own unique power that is not magic. Honestly, people are underestimating the familiars, and I think it's because we chose to call them familiars, but we've done our best to make it clear from the beginning that they are equal. So one last time for anyone at all that might be seeing this.


"MAGES AND FAMILIARS ARE EQUALS! THEY ARE YIN AND YANG! ONE IS NOT INHERENTLY BETTER THEN THE OTHER! THEY HAVE A SYMBIOTIC RELATIONSHIP THAT HELPS FAMILIARS AS MUCH AS MAGES!"

@onenote I can't really say anything to that. I keep feeling like some sort of a plot terrorist here, when I am really just saying what is on my mind. Please put your faith in me and my two years of membership on the site to make a character that fits in nicely. You can always just refuse it in the end.

Two whole years, huh? Impressive, but I'm afraid how long you've been a member does not have any influence on our decisions. Please keep in mind that our lore trumps your personal opinions, and there is no way around that. In addition, please treat my co-GMs with respect, as this is our RP, not yours.

As long as we have an understanding, you may feel free to submit a character. However, all characters are subject to our reviews, and if there are things that go against lore, our rules, or are simply implausible, we will ask you to remove them.

With that, I look forwards to seeing your submission. I do hope everything will be in order. :)

@liferusher Congrats, your character has water magic. As that suggests, she can control water, but only in liquid form. No controlling steam or ice or anything like that. She also can't pull water from the air and especially not from living things. Basically, she has to have a source of water to draw from.
