I had a busy weekend, so no posts from me over it. Plus I was waiting for Foster or Slypheed to make a post, and I would've made one tonight regardless.
Didn't have anything worth saying in the OOC, so I didnt until now.
Either way, there'll be another post from me tonight to keep things moving along.

But on a serious note, dirt airstrips are bad for jets. The Russians made a MiG specifically designed for that as a Fulcrum variant. Kind of a sense of locking the barn door after the horse got out since I didn't catch it quick enough but for future refernce, yeah you need some kind of paved runway or something like that.

Well, planking over grass counts as "dirt" in my head. Because it sure isn't concrete, and FOD-sweeps aren't really possible.

Any aircraft can be rough field rated if the pilot is brave enough. (Aka, I'm not entirely sure)
Though they were purpose built to operate from reinforced roads and highways if the situation called for it.

Well, I know the Viggen was rated to touchdown snuggly-soft for a landing, lest its wheels put craters into the highway.
-That, and remain within a 500 meter rollout.

In terms of combat resolution, I'll let you pretty much take care of your own business this time around. But in other combats I might have the enemy be more challenging, or if I want to introduce specific plot elements, make things more challenging, or introduce recurring enemies, then you might start seeing your shots be more difficult, not connect, and otherwise have cool and/or weird and deadly things start happening. Also, if anyone starts showing off too much or making themselves look like a super-munchkin-cool-guy and the enemy as completely ineffective wet-tissue-paper-creatures then expect a concrete elephant to inexplicably collide with your plane.

Clem's plan: Weapons-management, mostly. Actual execution is a bit dodgy right now.

Get behind a set of fast-movers and snipe them with his pair of long-range passive-IR R-27s as the opening-move.

Then hand-off launch-authority to Xi to target the bigger things with the slightly longer-ranged radar-guided R-27s (which ironicly can be launched "dim" or delayed-homing on a ballistic trajectory until lock)

After that, tango with a gun and a pair of R-60s to give the MiG-31 time and space to unload its own strike (hopefully more fast-movers).
-Also hoping this is when the Desert Falcon and A-6 decide to show-up... or at least the Draken)

For mopping-up... rockets. A lot of rockets. In the big-ships.

Lonnie/Xi's plan:

The four slow bandits are easy pickings for the R-33 and their ship will come into firing range first. That's four high percentage shots and ideal targets for the MiG-31. This will clear the way for Ranger 1 and 2 to get in close on any ground forces that might be down there and deliver their bomb loads without being assailed.

Lonnie and Clem will then head into merge with the highest set of fighters and Clem will be free to make his own shots as they work as a pair and cover each other. We can have Xi launch a couple from Clem's ride if the opportunity presents itself. I think it's kind of funny that they are paired together since they're all total opposites as characters.

The crux of the plan is basically to draw all the fighters away so that the Expeditionary ground forces can retreat thus fulfilling the mission objective. So once the four large craft are blasted out of the sky from out of nowhere the remaining fighters are going to have to decide what they're going to do. They can either go low to mess with Ranger 1 and 2 (and risk leaving themselves exposed to another long range attack) or they can come upstairs and tangle with Lonnie and Clem (and maybe Cecillia too?).

I've got about half a post wrote up so far. I should be able to finish it tomorrow if you all dont mind me leading off.
