Full Name: Thomas Jones Hendricks; “Slaughterhouse”
Age: 72
Race: Human
Appearance:
Thomas stands at a less-than-stellar 5’9, and weighs two hundred and twenty pounds (He’ll say its all muscle and augmentations, though he has a bit of extra fluff to his belly.) All across Thomas’s chest and left arm are a number of tattoos relating to his past in the navy. Thomas has almost every kind of tattoo imaginable; from his Flaming Dragon symbol that spirals around his left arm to the Seventh Fleet motto: 'Conquer the stars' across his back.Thomas has olive green eyes.
Personality: Thomas is one of the least agreeable men to be around in Babylon. He hasn’t always been this way; of course, he used to be a good natured and charismatic young lad. But those days have passed, and Thomas has fallen out of his prime. The man sees Babylon and in a cynical light, believing that everything under the sun in Babylon has a bad side to it. Sadly, he’s usually right. Thomas holds himself accountable for any failed missions by his battalion. He uses the same standards of judgment he has set for himself for his subordinates, and expects the utmost out of them. While most people don’t stay around Thomas long enough to see past his tired, cranky old man cliché attitude, there is another side of Thomas that occasional shows itself. Captain Hendricks has a deep passion for the cause and for his men. When the bullets start to fly, Thomas’s main concern is the safety of his soldiers and any civilians.
Side note: Thomas has addictions to alcohol and nicotine, though he’ll never admit it.
History: Thomas was born and raised in the navy. This statement is both literal and figurative. His parents were Admiral Jason Hendricks and Captain Scarlet Rose (Who became Scarlet Hendricks a few months after Thomas was born.) He had been birthed into navy life, and had to grow up fast in such conditions. He hadn’t been the first child born in the Seventh Fleet, but he was arguably one of the more remarkable (due to his father being the admiral of the fleet, that is.) Thomas was raised by medical officers and given special supplements to accommodate his growing young body in non-earthlike conditions to be as normal as possible. Thomas had little contact with his mother and even littler contact with his father during his infant years. Mom and dad were just pictures on the wall, whom were the target of many a story told to the young Thomas by his nurse maids. At the age of ten years old the navy registered Thomas into the system (as was protocol) and thus Thomas’s life truly began. His schooling slowed at this age, and Thomas spent most of his time doing miscellaneous jobs on the medical cruiser for the various doctors and medics.
Admiral Hendricks had thought that the medical cruiser would be a safe place for Thomas to work. He had been right on that accord. What the admiral had not foreseen, however, was what Thomas would witness working in the medical cruiser. He saw the effect s of war: Men and women with missing limbs, covered in blood. He constantly had to tune out the sound of wounded soldiers screaming in pain and agony. Thomas quickly became aware of the world he was growing up in. Over the years working for the medics, Thomas gained a decent knowledge of medicine and many a trick to saving a life when one is without all the fancy equipment.
At the age of eighteen, Thomas was officially able to work in the navy. On the next stop at a colony, Thomas had to undergo the usual basic training. Thomas’s training had to be rushed slightly, so that he could muster back into the Seventh Fleet before they had to disembark for combat again. His training was finished, however, and Thomas returned to the Fleet and shifted out of the medical wing and moved to a carrier to begin pilot training. Over the course of the first few months of piloting, Thomas showed a natural talent for flight. After finishing his training, Thomas was assigned as the pilot for a troop transport and his career in the navy truly began. The job was a bit lack luster for Hendricks, but he knew that it was just a stepping stone towards greater things.
At the age of twenty-three, Thomas received a promotion to helmsman of a destroyer . He quickly accepted, and was transferred planet side on the Seventh’s next stop. He received the training necessary to fly the
C8 Destroyer Class "Flaming Dragon", an orbital bombardment destroyer. He finished his training quickly and after a few weeks of leave had to return to the Fleet. The Seventh set off again, this time heading into deep space to combat insurrections. The campaign against the rebels was when Thomas had been reassigned to the infamous Flaming Dragon destroyer. One particular bombardment run with the Flaming Dragon was when Thomas had earned his callsign, Slaughterhouse. The Flaming Dragon was ordered to bomb out insurrectionist controlled targets in the middle of a crowded city. Thomas had been ordered to hit a factory on the edge of the city. Hendricks blew the factory to hell and back, leaving nothing but a lot covered in holes. Little did Hendricks know he had actually hit a livestock storage building instead of the actual target.
After quelling the insurrections, the Seventh Fleet was redeployed to the Hyades system to deal with more rebellions. Thomas and the Flaming Dragon destroyed a large number of high value targets. However, during the quelling of rebellion on Hyades was when Thomas was kicked out of the Seventh Fleet. The Flaming Dragon had been ordered to make a run on asteroid-based mining facilities that were creating weapons for the rebels. During the run, they were ordered by their commanding officers to destroy a bio dome. After the mission, information was leaked to Thomas by rebel informers that he had taken part in destroying a civilian target filled with refugees. Furious, Thomas Hendricks went to his father and made a railing accusation against him. Thomas grew so angry during the argument that he struck his father, and was immediately arrested for striking a superior officer. Thomas was taken to Babylon on Outremer to be tried.
The admiral had the charges dropped, however the navy refused to allow Thomas to continue service in the Seventh. So, at the age of forty, Thomas found himself on a strange world. Hendricks took up a job as a civilian cargo transporter to make some money, and so began his new (boring) career as a civilian pilot. During this time, Hendricks was approached by a man claiming to work for the Central Government of Babylon, who knew a bit too much about Thomas’s past, and offered the ex-bomber pilot a job. Thomas joined up with the Minutemen in an effort to make his life a bit more interesting. Over the years, Hendricks has become more attached the cause more than most natives.
Occupation: Cargo plane pilot/Captain in the Minutemen of Babylon
Weaponry: During missions with the Minutemen, Thomas uses a variety of their standard weapons. However, for personal defense off-duty, Thomas uses a Particle Dispersed Shotgun from BAAC, as well as his MKII Mars Energy Revolver he received when he became a Minutemen officer. (For specific information on these weapons, see BAAC and MoB Faction Sheets.)
Augments: Captain Hendricks’ right arm has been replaced by a robotic arm. The arm is a high-tech piece of equipment that gives Thomas a mobile computer in his arm. Thomas also had his left eye replaced and a new cybernetic eye installed. The new eye is a state of the art tool that relays flight information (altitude, wind speed, weather, ect) directly to Thomas’s brain.
Thomas also had to have his left lung removed and replaced with an artificial one due to damage from smoke inhalation.
Other: Thomas has a class B flying license, allowing him to pilot up to a small spacecraft. The only things out of his legal jurisdiction military vehicles (class A. Class A crafts are only legal for use by BESC.) (Side note: The Class A license is set apart from the rest of the scale, so someone who owns a class A, IE a BESC pilot, doesn’t have the training to fly a space cruiser.)
That's one Character Sheet finished, finally. I do believe I'll make a Tindrel Chrix next..
