@Dragonsinc There's darkness that no one has yet to take. I remember a race in the game Warlords called the Night Elves, so that might not be a bad idea.
Plot twist: Stella is a dark Aedis (Lol, I'm joking)
Weapons: His buster sword Nether. His crystal has replaced his left eye, covered with a bandage wrapped around his head unless he's fighting. He also has a clawed gauntlet on his left hand. Background: Luca's family is one of high wealth, or rather... was. They had a strong line of Aedis in the family, but despite their strength, they were slain in the middle of the night by an unknown killer. Luca was not home that night. Just a day earlier, Luca had found out about his own powers as a Dark Aedis. He was strong but always said that he needed to be stronger, faster, better. It was almost an obsession. After the massacre, he joined the academy and excelled as a student. Personality: Luca is in general a manipulator with a G-d complex. He thinks everyone is beneath him, and that they are mere puppets to tug at when he needs them. He finds others boring and idiotic, preferring to be alone if he can. Of course, this side he keeps hidden. Like a true con artist, Luca acts charming when dragged into social situations, people often calling him "sweet" and "gentlemanly." Though he uses honeyed words, beware- he most likely wants something from you. Luca believes he is the ultimate judge of good and bad, and his balance of this is warped. Those who praise him and adhere to his lunacies of divinity are loved, while those who object are persecuted. He is a quiet sadist who will stroke your cheek with one hand and stab you with the other.
@The Mighty Hero Kay, my guy character~ I'll pm you about a couple secrets about him, heheh...
@Dragonsinc Oops... didn't mean to steal your idea there. Should be fne as long as the personalities are different though ^_^
@Jerkchicken Repeated elements are allowed as long as there aren't too many of the same type. Right now there's 2 Fire, 1 water, 1 earth, 1 air, 1 light, 1 ice, and 1 darkness I think (including GM characters) Again, "I think" XD
Oh! Forgot to mention, I've never really written romance before, but I remember it coming up in the interest check. I'd be willing to give it a shot if anyone is interested in either Ash or Liam.
I like the contrast between Luca and Wolfe. Both are prideful and confident, but one's manipulative and has a superiority complex while the other's just an immature show-off XD Should be fun to RP their interactions ^_^
1) What is 'Holy Darkness'? Or other 'Holy' elements, for example? 2) If a Darkness user draws from darkness, then does his absorption create light? And does a Light user create darkness when they do the same? 3) If the answer to 2 is yes, then could a light and dark user together form a sort of super-battery? 4) Could 2 people of the same element have different powers based on their speciality?

Good questions! Since the Aedis "have a holy mandate from the Creator, the god of good, to protect those who cannot protect themselves, to root out evil in the world" I think Holy powers probably have some ability from the creator to banish or smite evil, or maybe to detect it. Like how in some stories holy water burns demons. Evil probably couldn't stand the presence of holy light or darkness. I could see darkness being created when someone saps light from a room, but I'm not entirely certain if it would work the other way around. Take away light and you get darkness, take away darkness and you get... nothing? As a force it's a little weird to work with.
Here's what the GM said abut powers and specialties:
<Snipped quote by Cherrywitch>
That's a little complicated. Technically, you have the ability to use all of them but to varying degrees which are dependent on your skill and other factors such as training and energy level. The other technicality is any power that specifies it is a Holy/Evil(or Dark) power requires you be in the favor of the appropriate deity. Most Aedis are followers of the Creator as he is the one who created their order. Aedis who follow the "evil" god, Amunet, usually do so in secret. The Creator is the only god aside from Amunet and some small cults in this world.
Hope this helps a little... I'm no GM though, so I'd wait for his answer before taking my word for anything ^_^
Yeah, when you mention it, I started to wonder as well. But I don't think dark and light can combine and create an unlimited power. Light creates darkness. Light can be created by light Aedis so that he can shine it, creating shadows and darkness, thus powering dark Aedis, but dark Aedis cannot create light again for light Aedis to absorb, because darkness does not create light, so I don't think you can buff each other around and make an unstoppable team. But still, there is an unlimited possibility of buffing each other by combining other elements, like:
Fire melts ice creating water for water Aedis Fire evaporates water creating steam for air Aedis Fire shines for light Aedis Ice + Steam = Water for water Aedis And many more.
Yeah, that was what I was thinking. Light probably couldn't get power from darkness, but it could from say... fire. And I could see water giving energy to plants as an earth elemental draws from them so the plant doesn't die. There are some I'm not sure how they would draw from others though. Like air or fire... what other elements could they draw from?
Although I am certainly curious what does happen when you remove darkness. I mean, what else could there be? Nothing is, by definition, darkness, so can darkness users just drain power from a room infinitely?
@Conscripts The problem is that that's sharing power. It's one Aedis giving power to a different Aedis. Using their power to create something the other Aedis can drain. I was thinking of the very act of draining creating something the other can drain. Which would allow for an infinite loop, both Aedis gaining power, as opposed to one Aedis giving power to the other.
Probably so. Maybe not a direct loop but a more complicated one. Still, I think there should be a price for doing so, like you cannot fill others crystal more than the power you spend. Like two cans of water pouring to one another, there is no more no less. Still, I'm no GM, his explanation would be better than me
The weird thing about darkness is that in this it's like an actual force, as opposed to simply the absence of light. But if the force is removed, "darkness" as a concept wouldn't disappear even if the force itself did. It has to be either matter of some sort or the real definition of darkness, but here it exists as both which makes it difficult. I don't think nothing is by definition darkness in the sense of being used as a power, because that assumes darkness to be an actual thing and therefore not nothing.
But while the act of draining might create darkness if done by light, others would all have to create something for someone else to drain. So I don't think the infinite battery thing is a possibility.
@Kiyran Darkness is the absence of light, and therefore in order to 'remove' darkness from a room you would need to introduce light. Nothingness by definition is dark, because it lacks light. This is why defining darkness as a 'force' is so difficult, because it's an absence.
Although I personally kind of like the idea of opposites being able to charge each other up. And they'd still only be able to charge up to the upper limit of the power stones, so it's not like this would suddenly grant them godlike powers.
But yeah, it depends on how those powers are going to work. Even without the idea of an infinite-power-battery I'm interested in what happens when a Darkness user drains power from darkness.
@Kiyran Darkness is the absence of light, and therefore in order to 'remove' darkness from a room you would need to introduce light. Nothingness by definition is dark, because it lacks light. This is why defining darkness as a 'force' is so difficult, because it's an absence.
My point exactly.
It's not a force. But if it's being used as one, the darkness of nothing wouldn't count, since you're qualifying it as an actual thing that is present. And there's no way to use darkness as a power without regarding it as some sort of matter or energy. It's probably the weirdest one... by it's actual definition it is an absence, but to be used as a power, it can't be considered as such. So the absence of light and "Darkness" the magical power would have to be different things...
@The Mighty Hero A little backstory to Alexander's beloved steed. Sorry for the little cheesy style of writing, and I was not familiar with it. I was inspired by the taming scene of Bucephalus, so I decided to change my style a little bit, to romanticize the meeting between the two partners. But since this is quite a romance RP so probably that is ok. (And no, Alexander does not have zoophilia).
Sometimes, a faithful day doesnât have to be all big and shiny with all the commotions and tumults of the world that the gods bring down upon us. To this day, we still did not know whether this was a mere coincidence or a fated event that the higher beings had all planned long before when both the two of them were only a bunch of sands on a salty beach, but the encounter was a beginning of everything. It started peacefully, during a monthly normal class excursion to the Noasis river for the Aedis to practically test out their blessed powers.
âHey Alexander. Is that a horse over there?â
One of Alexanderâs friend, Thomas, asked, his finger pointed in the direction heading to the forest. Alexander looked with him.
He was right. It was a horse. A white horse
âYeah, thatâs rightâŚBut why is it alone like that?â Another Aedis, a female water Aedis, confirmed Thomasâs vision.
âHe might be wildâŚBut he has a rein on him. So he must have had an ownerâ Alexander said. âBut the area seems to be quite remote. Not many people would live here.â
âHey! The class is leaving you behind. Letâs go!â His train of thought was interrupted by a student from afar. All those who were looking at the horse, Thomas included, walked away without any objections, except for Alexander. The reason couldnât be simpler: he canât. Whether it was because he was charmed by the horseâs beauty or he was worried for the horseâs sake, he did not know. The thing he knew was that he was walking straight to her, into the forest, slowly.
âHey. Youâre a female.â Alexander examined her several times as he reached her, and then hold the rein. âCome on, letâs get out of here. Itâs dangerous.â
He pulled the rein gently, with a soft voice, and began walking back to the path that he was taking. The horse followed him peacefully, through the thick trees of the forest, and out. But thenâŚ
âNEEEIIGGHH!!!â
It lashed out on him.
The horse jerked violently, lasing the leash that Alexander was holding, sending him tumbling to the ground.
âOwwâŚthat hurts. You look like a stubborn one, donât you?â
He sarcastically commented, as the horseâs movement was rather awkward, jerking back and forth.
âAlexander!â
It was about time his class had noticed that someone was missing. Around a dozen Aedises, his tutor Euphelia included, rushed towards Alexander, who was trying to stand up from the dirt. Some even had their weapons ready, but was soon stopped by the fourteen years old light Aedis.
âIâm fine, Iâm fine. Sheâs just a little wild, thatâs all.â
Said Alexander, as he cleaed himself while still gazing at the still spooked horse. Some were actually relieved that his classmate was ok, but others werenât so pleased.
âYouâre wasting our time. Just leave him!â
âItâs just a horse.â
âWe donât have much time.â
Complaints and whines like that, telling him to abandon the horse kept on escalating, which greatly irritated the young man. He had no patience for such selfish people. But thankfully, a rare sympathetic and wise voice among the dissatisfied crowd had dismissed them before any possible conflict could occur.
âEveryone. Let us not forget the rules of an Aedis. Help those who cannot help themselves.â
It was Euphelia, Alexanderâs private tutor, the young woman he had grown to respect.
âConsider this as your first exercise for todayâs excursion: tame the creature. There will be a day when you must do this in your real life course, so a little practice wouldnât hurt, right?â
For a moment, although there were still grumbles muttered under the breathe of some, the innocent and gentle voice of the young tutor had dispersed most of their anger. Now that she had said that, there was no reason to say no.
But after an hour going into it, there were now a ton of reasons to leave the animal. The seemingly simple exercise that Euphelia gave the students proved to be a lot more difficult than they had expected. The horse was so strong, despite being female, that it took at least one Earth Aedis or two people to restrain it. And even if she was restrained it would not allow anyone to climb onto her back. The moment one of the the restraining Aedis let loose of his or her grip on her, she would lash out, shaking around, standing on her two heels and running around, anything to throw the unwanted rider off her back. Again and again, those who tried to climb onto her yielded the same fate: being violently flung away.
âFuck this shit, Iâm done!â Even Thomas, who was reowned for being a determined guy when it comes to challenge, had to give up.
âCome onâŚâ Euphelia gazed at her exhausted Aedis. âNone of you can tame it?â
âSheâs impossible to be tamed, teacher. Weâve tried to become as gentle as possible and yet she still stomped us like stomping leaves. If you donât believe it, see it for yourself.â
The class's tutor, after seeing the nods of approval by most of his students, decided to see the horse for herself. She truly indeed was a tough nut to crack. Her stubborn attitude, strong physical strength and unusually weird mental condition had indeed made her quite difficult to tame.
Euphelia headed to pull the rein on the horse, testing the animal, but it suddenly and fiercely retaliated. Although her intention wasnât to hurt the woman, but her response showed pretty clear to everyone that she was not willing to cooperate.
After the reaction, Euphelia too had doubts about her previous decisions to let the students exercise with a mad horse. She thought that by giving them a real life exercise on a wild horse, then they might get better when someone needs their help. That was a good thing actually, itâs just that she did not expect the horse to be this wild.
âWell, I guess soâŚâ She finally admitted. That the horse couldnât be ridden.
But it was not until the students were beginning to leave that something actually triggered in Alexanderâs mind.
âNoâŚâ
âHuh?â
âIt can be ridden. I think I can tame it. NoâŚI definitely can tame itâ
He said, decisively, as it was set in stone.
The Aedisâs face were a combination of surprise and irritation.
Said the one who had just been knocked down by it an hour ago.
This againâŚJust when would he let this go? Were the thoughts of a few among the student body.
But before they could say anything, Alexander had already by the white horse's side, this time even more casually than before.
âYou donât like the sun, do you?â He began speaking to the horse, as soft and gentle as a pillow. The horse did not respond, as obvious that she did not understand human language. But for the light Aedis, he knew that she did. In some way.
By constant watching, Alexander found out that the horse was not wild at all. She was just shying away from the brightness of the sun that shone down on her. She might have flung the owner somewhere and ran to this shady forest to calm herself down, thatâs all. Then if he could just cure her fearâŚ
âLookâŚâ Alexander then showed his palm to the horse. His eyebrows furrowed slightly, trying his best to use the crystal that he was bestowed upon. He was still yet to familiarize himself with it, but eventually, his palm began to glow and shine. Although the light he emitted wasnât like the light of a fire Aedis, it was still plausible.
âNeeeiggh!â
The animal freaked out, trying to cower away, turning away from the glowing palm. But Alexander was surprisingly patient with her, touching and petting her with calmness.
âDonât worry. Itâs nothing to be afraid of.â He touched her forehead, trying to release all the fear that she had bore for so long. Bring all the evils and pain she experienced, and banish it with the holy light that the gods had granted us humans so that we could live, expand and shine in glory.
He waited for the animal to calm down, before glowing his palm again. As he had expected, the animal jerked in retaliation again, trying to look away again. But Alexander did not relent, nor was being forceful. He knew that you cannot be impatient with curing a phobia, anger would not do, ignorant would only bring disastrous results. Only patience.
He repeated the process again and again, to the looks of all his friends and his tutor, who were all confused why he was so gentle and patient whereas inside class, he wasnât really so. The animalâs response was still forceful, but overtime, she eventually got somewhat used to it.
It was then that Alexander knew it was time to take the next step. He walked to the side of the horse while petting the mane of her, trying to let her know that he meant no harm. It was difficult, since you donât know when he was going to snap. With a single decisive step, he jumped up, wrapping his right leg around her back, his two arms grabbing her nape for stability, and then finally he sat on her, the thing that many Aedis here failed to accomplish.
The creature was surprised, and twitched again, almost sending Alexander off balance. A small gasp went through the spectators, as at that moment they thought he was gonna get jerked off the horse like many others were.
âStellaâŚâ He whispered, with a touch of a feather to her. âThat will be your name from now on. Youâre beautiful like the moon, like countless stars in the sky.â
Alexander and Stella
The warrior of sunlight, and the mighty steed of the stars.
âYou like it, donât you?â
His palm glowed again, but the horse wasnât afraid this time.
A beautiful combination.
With a commanding voice and a slight touch of the foot, Alexander had completely accomplished one of the first impossibles.
âCome Stella. Ride! To the Earthâs end!â
And the creature obeyed.
She began to trot, and then turned to a magnificent run, out of the forest, into the nearby plain, under the bright sunlight.
She now had nothing to fear anymore, as she had gotten all the courage she needed in a form of a five foot four young boy, the only person that treated her with all his kindness, regardless of who she was.
The spectators all held their breathe and looked with agony of surprise, as they saw the small yet courageous Alexander riding forth and back triumphantly, having tamed a difficult yet beautiful white horse that they had deemed completely impossible for them to tame.
Euphelia could not stand not smiling for joy from the scene. Her boy had done it. Right when she thought that nobody could ever accomplish. Things that anybody could be proud of. Is he really blessed with the destiny of becoming the greatest of the greats? She did not know, but in him right now, she could see that light, that true holy light.
Alexander, after finishing what was probably one of the most wonderful ride of his life, petted the horse mane again. He knew for sure that this would not be his last. There was still places to go, people to see, and missions to accomplish. And now that he had earned himself a trustful companion, he had no reasons to be hesistant or frightened of them anymore.
He had Stella, and Stella had him.
Alexander and Stella
And so it was accomplished. Two great warriors of the holy light.
Nice! And no worries, my writing style changes with what I read all the time. I'm kinda curious how the whole romance thing in the RP is gonna play out, since I've never written romance before. Should be fun ^_^
Weapons: Two short blades Background/Personality: Icarus has been at the academy since the age of 10. He wasn't motivated to do well for a long time, often showing up late, was tardy and quite disruptive. However, as his sister was ill, she asked that he only applied himself a bit more. Hearing of the news, Icarus left to see his sister, however, being his usual self, he was too late, showing up after her death. It was from then on that Icarus turned himself around, excelling in class and always showing up early or on time. He's determined, kind and protective, however he always looks like he's hiding something
