Miyu, Henry Pearl Avaritia The 2nd, Francisca Labrys Seax Luxuria
Miyu instantly perked up as she heard someone calling for help. Without a moment's hesitation she struck her oar deep, and pushed towards Henry.
"Hey! Hold on, I'll be right there." Miyu said, no trace of her usual sass or sarcasm as her boat beached on the shore next to Henry. Reaching for the potion, she spoke,
"Does it go on the wound or ingested?" She pulled the cork on the bottle, holding it ready for either.
"Ingested, definitely ingested.' Henry said as he rolled onto his back, holding back a threat to decapitate the person if they poured it on them. His vision was kinda hazy at the moment, it looked like someone with wings was standing over him with the bottle.
Fran followed the voice until she arrived to a tunnel. She didn't reveal herself immediately and instead used her magic to disguise herself as a large rock. As she crept closer she spotted someone hanging over Henry. She smelled of angels, but surprisingly enough Henry wasn't being killed. From the sounds of it he was actually being treated.
"What the hell?" Fran remained hidden to see how this would pan out,
"Alright! Open wide." Miyu made to pour the healing potion in.
"Uh, is it working?"Miyu would see that indeed the potion was working as the myriad holes all over Henry were closing and his breathing was slowly becoming steadier compared to the ragged wet breathing he had been displaying moments prior. His vision began to clear up and as he pushed himself up he rubbed his eyes to try and fix his vision up.
"Thanks girl, I'll make sure to pay you back at some point in the near..." Henry's sentence trailed off as he realized exactly who had just saved his life, the fucking angel bitch who betrayed him at the Forge. He rolled backwards away from Miyu and got to his feet quickly, pulling a knife out of his sleeve and readying for battle.
"I thought you would be smarter than to ever get near me again, I told you I would rip your fucking wings off didn't I?" Despite his bravado it was clear he was still partially hurt as he struggled to stay standing.
"Umm... I'm afraid I must have forgotten, sir ..?" Miyu paused, asking for a name. As Henry staggered, she reached forward with concern.
"Are you quite sure you're alright? I guess we could fight, but you don't look like you're in the best of shapes at the moment.""Don't act as if you've forgotten the Prince of Greed!" Henry shouted as he tried to figure out her game plan. As she reached forward he backed up in caution. He also started to think about this dungeon and how it fucked with your memories. It was entirely possible that rather than just fighting her memories she straight up lost them. Annoying, but at least it kept her from smothering him the moment she saw him suffering.
"My name is Henry Pearl Avaritia The 2nd, Prince of Greed and Silver Conqueror. I'm also the guy who you betrayed in the middle of battle a while back and I've been looking to rip off your wings ever since." He introduced himself to be polite yeah, but he was also buying time for the potion to fully heal his wounds, after which he was definitely gonna do something to her. She saved his life, so he probably wouldn't kill her. Yet.
"Hmph.." Miyu smirked, a bit of her usual sass drifting in,
"Well, Sir Henry Pearl Avaritia, the second, Prince of Greed and Silver Conqueror.. If you want my wings, you'll have to take them. If you want me to remember you, you'll have to make this battle something a bit more memorable."Walking back over to her boat, she glanced around for a moment, before spotting an oar. Slamming a foot down on one end sent the other into the air, which she picked up and twirled.
"Mmm... This feels about right, maybe this is what I use." She hefted the weight, as she took up a stance about five yards away, paddle end facing towards Henry.
"Anytime you're ready. Don't push yourself too hard, you were nearly dead." She didn't seem to be taking Henry as much of a threat, still concerned about his well being. And rather than her usual fatalism, the smile tugging at her lips seemed to imply she was looking forward to this.
This was the moment where things became funny for Henry, she actually thought she could take him in a fight. He began to chuckle as she mentioned the oar feeling familiar to her.
"No, actually you use a giant robot but hey if the oar feels right then whatever." He was no longer in immediate danger of falling over but he definitely wasn't at a 100 percent yet. Hell he was barely at 10, but that's all he needed for her. Little did he know that she was now at peak physical strength due to her run in with B.E.A.S.T, but he was about to find out. Henry shook his head and began a sprint towards her, already preparing to duck whatever clumsy swing she was about to go for.
"I think I'd remember something like that." As Henry sprinted forward, Miyu took one wing assisted step back, landing on the pier before he was upon her, and sending a gust of wind forward that felt.. unpleasant, an eerie tingle to it. She thrust the oar forward with her rear hand, the right one, while still keeping a firm grip closer to the blade of the oar with her left. She kept a narrow profile facing Henry, left foot forward. With her positioning, she wouldn't easily be able to swing for the supports of the pier.
Henry was about to make a swing for Miyu when suddenly she jumped back with a flap of her wings, getting into a proper battle stance with her oar. It wasn't a bad position either, but time was not on her side. The more she stalled the stronger and faster he would get. Henry nodded and made a "bring it" motion with his unoccupied hand, one of the bigger holes in his legs visibly closing up as he did so.
Henry would feel a dull whack in the center of his chest, throwing him backward in the midst of his "bring it", as though he had been hit in the chest with a lightly thrust oar. Lining up the angles, it was like Miyu's oar could reach whatever it covered from her eye's perspective, regardless of where it actually was.
Henry felt a light whack on his chest, he immediately grabbed at whatever it was that just hit him, only to see that Miyu was still in her spot having barely moved. Now Henry was no expert in geography, but she shouldn't have been able to hit him from that far away.
"All right. Fair enough I guess." Henry tossed the knife at Miyu, going for the stomach to cripple her with pain. While she was busy with inevitably deflecting the knife he reached into a Gate and brought out a full sword, not his Cheaters Blade but a strong katana nonetheless. Henry began moving towards Miyu, hopefully close enough that she couldn't use any space bending bullshit. Kinda like what he uses. Ironic.
Miyu retreated a step backwards, her formerly leading foot becoming her rear foot as she pivoted to let the knife pass, quickly shifting her hands and bringing her oar to bear. As Henry brought a katana to bear, Miyu intercepted it early before a swing could be made, now that they were so close. His blade and the blade of her oar were now side to side, not edge to edge, but they could press the weapons against each other to try and gain leverage or force the other person out of position. Either one of them could swing down at the other, but to do so would be to give the other person's weapon the high ground, and the force advantage that meant.
They were now close, weapon to weapon, with Miyu's retreating steps having dragged them a little way back onto the pier. From a mortal perspective, it was a strange position to take in a one on one duel, cutting off one's own retreat. But both Henry and Miyu had wings, and the ground was their battlefield only so long as they chose it. Miyu's wings were outstretched, as if for balance, lightly beating back and forth just above the supports of the pier.
"For someone who claims to want to take my wings, you're sure taking it as easy on me as I'm taking it on you. Are you sure you hate me?" Miyu's tone was that of someone... expecting more. 'If we're gonna fight, why weren't we fighting?' Her eyes seemed to say.
Henry grinned as he pressed against Miyu's oar, his eyes glowing Silver as he stared her down.
"There's no need to use a rocket launcher just to kill a fly." He stated as a silver axe fell from the sky, seeking to cut off her wings from above. Henry took one hand off his sword and staggered a little, but he used his now free hand to grab the oar and try and hold Miyu in place. He was at about 50 percent strength now so Miyu was gonna have to think fast if she wanted to keep her wings.
Miyu's 'You fell for it!' grin sprang out to match Henry's as he tried to press against the oar. The oar twisted under Henry's pressure, the oar's blade spinning on it's axis and batting Henry's blade away as it was launched out of position. She stepped in close, into fist and kick range, the blade of the oar pushing Henry's blade further down and to the right, out of position and off balance into one of the Pier's supports, while the other end of the oar came up and around in a strike at Henry's right shoulder. Henry's free hand managed to catch the strike as he hadn't committed wholeheartedly to the blade bind, not everything going to Miyu's plan. The impact on his hand was hard. Not so hard he could not catch it at all. But FAR stronger than he remembered Miyu being, which combined with his slightly stagger and impact pressed him back slightly. Due to Miyu's forward motion, pressing up in close combat, where a blade could not easily be swung, the axe landed narrowly behind her, her wings pulling forward at just the right moment as she advanced.. Had she somehow known it was there without looking?
"Well, take care not to get swatted by a fly, how embarrassing would that be!?"To emphasize her point about swatting perhaps, she swung upward with the blade of her paddle, leaning back and hauling upward. Without room to swing and build momentum, this strike wouldn't land with meaningful impact, but the goal was instead to force Henry to let go or be lifted into the air, possibly launched behind her if she continued the motion.
Henry let go of the sword as it was launched out of his hand, catching the oar with one hand and cringing at the minor pain. Hard swing, much harder than when they had last met. The axe missed as she pressed forward, spouting a line with confidence he had never heard from her.
"I'm beginning to think you're not a fly at all though. Perhaps you're a spider, deadly if not crushed quickly." Henry let himself get launched into the air, flapping his wings in just such a way that he landed in front of the axe which found itself embedded into the ground of the pier.
"But enough of the metaphors. Have at thee!" Henry kicked up the axe and grabbed it midair, resizing it into an immense battleaxe inscribed with various runes that glowed dimly. It was a light as a feather as he ran towards Miyu but as he swung it at her it's weight increased immensely, going for a powerful overhead swing.
He had a mad grin on his face as he did this, he was having more fun than he had ever had during his time as a commander. As he reminisced about the good old days the pier's waters began to tint black, one could compare the waters to oil. This was a memory of one of his first battles actually, he had made the rivers run black with the life blood of various Machina robots.
One might wonder why Miyu would try to launch someone with wings into the air. The answer would become clear as Henry attempted to use his wings to correct his course. That irritating angelic tingle again, and while his wings felt like they were working correctly, the air itself felt like it was avoiding him, not letting him push against it, not even to brake. Henry wouldn't be able to aim his trajectory to pick up his axe so gracefully, having to take a little extra time to get in position. Miyu herself with that time used that extra time to gather a follow up attack, as she twirled to face Henry. Her wings pumped, and from the shimmering air around her, it seemed like she was gathering all that motion, and with one swing of her oar like she was paddling through the air and a stomp of the foot, she sent that wave of shimmering air at Henry and a circle of red energy across the pier's surface. It wouldn't hurt, much, mostly being blunt force like being rammed with a mattress, but it would launch him and his enhanced axe plummeting into the oily waters if it landed, as the pier's surface felt like buttered ice after the red energy raced across it.
This, a humiliation of tossing Henry into the water, was probably what Miyu had been aiming for the whole time. She'd never launched a serious attack intended to harm this entire fight. It wasn't the victory, or the death of her opponent that mattered to her, but the contest of skill and Yomi.
Henry nimbly leaped over the wave of air, making sure to lodge his axe into the floor for a good stop. It was a bit slippery but the force behind the swing ensured he wouldn't slip and fall like an idiot. She was much stronger than when he had first faced her so long ago back at the Ocean of... something. Unimportant really, what mattered was that he won, there was no way he was going to lose again and not to fucking Miyu. Henry was perched on his axe with an intense look of concentration on his face, eyes glowing Silver and darting all about. Spears were forming in the air and lodging themselves into the pier, Henry jumping to each one to get closer to Miyu.
A sword formed in his left hand, a closer look would reveal that it was partly a revolver as well but Miyu wouldn't get a closer look as Henry jumped straight for her and swung.
As Henry brought the fight to a higher level on precarious balances, jumping off of spears to fight, Miyu decided that seemed like a fun new way to keep things fresh, and herself leaped onto one of the pier's supports. Henry's sword slashed at her, and she once again met it early with the reach of her oar and redirected its force rather than clashing head on. She tried to push him to the outside of the pier, so that he would again be in danger of falling in the water, but she could only exert so much force on him through oar to sword combat while they both leaped through the air. Henry would likely only be in the threat of teetering for a moment before regaining his balance.
Because she hadn't contested his force directly, she had to take a leap backward and across the pier to another support. She herself teetered for a moment, off balance, before swiveling her oar some to retake her stance, though it was narrow atop the support. Her jump had been slightly awkward as one of her wings pulled close, to avoid the potential line of fire of the revolver part of the sword as it passed. Miyu seemed to have instantly noticed those features. Perhaps more oddly still, was why she hadn't simply used her wings to rebalance. Because it would have defeated the purpose of fighting atop the spears and supports of the pier? Miyu still seemed to be treating the battle as a game, even if it was a game to which she devoted all of her power and skill, she wouldn't break her self imposed rules.
Henry quickly regained his balance and fired a few shots at Miyu, barely missing her wing. Henry jumped to another spear, pulling the spear he had just been on out of the ground and throwing it at her like a javelin. He also fired off a few more shots at her before his clip ran out of ammo.
"I'm quite impressed by how far you've come. You trained quite a bit just to beat me.""Hmm? You seem to think yourself veeeery important to me. Are you absolutely sure we were enemies." Miyu replied with a bit of a suggestive tone and a wink. Miyu caught the spear with her oar, and twisted it around, spinning it in an erratic circle to deflect the incoming bullets before it was flung to the side. The maneuver left her teetering a bit on the back of her support, her arms spread wide, but she still refused to use her wings and "cheat".
"Oh, he has a good reason to think you're his enemy. But there's no reason why yesterday's enemy can't be today's friend." Fran's voice called out as she rose from the water on the back of a serpent that looked suspiciously like a smaller Leviathan. She waved at Miyu and Henry with a smile on her face and her axe lazily resting on her shoulder. She had been observing this battle and trying to gauge Miyu the entire time, trying to figure out if she could successfully be turned to the side of Demons. After the last time she worked with the demons, Fran certainly knew better than to trust her. But that didn't mean they couldn't be allies, so long as Fran was careful. For now, she'll have to take advantage of Miyu's apparent amnesia and try to make a friend from a foe.
"Henry darling, remember what I suggested before we came here?" Commanding the Leviathan closer Fran approached Miyu with an offer and open arms.
"You may not remember, so I won't bore you with the details. But Henry and I have been considering leaving our old friends and find a new home. Last I remember you've had it rough too. So why don't we kiss, make up, and work together to find somewhere better for the three of us?" It was around this same time that some mysterious orbs started to float around Miyu and Henry, but oddly enough not Fran. It was Helena offering a deal to turn their back against their former masters and join her. Of course Fran didn't believe a word of it. But she did think the essence of what Helena intended to do was a good idea; time to make new friends.
"As our lovely hosts implies, I think now is a perfect time to find a new home for us. So let bygones be bygones. Hell's shitty and Heaven ain't all it cracked up to be. Maybe we could work out a deal with the Machina and get a slice of all those sweet toys!"Henry was about to fire on Miyu once more when a voice interrupted their glorious dance of death. It was Fran on top of the Leviathan and she was talking about making friends or some cliche bullshit like that. Henry snorted and shook his head.
'I don't know much about friends but I do know that I would love to hire the both of you as bodyguards slash employees. I pay well, as in whatever you want well." Fran then brought up the fact that they were defecting anyways, so cool. The Angels sure as hell weren't gonna take in some Demons, might as well join the Machina.
Some jackass orbs began floating around Henry and Miyu offering knowledge of the secrets behind the war or whatever and that was what Henry had came here for in the first place.
"Tell ya what Fran, I'll hear out the floating ball of exposition and if I don't like what it has to say then we'll join up with the Machina. But right now I want to find out what the fuck the purpose of this war is." henry turned to the talking ball and nodded.
"So what do you have to say?"Uh, sounds like to me she just said the purpose of the war is the entertainment of cruel gods. Anything else?" Miyu responded, not really paying much heed to the ball. She really had no idea what it was on about. Triumvirate?
"Well, I don't know about you, but I'm a bit on the peckish side, so I'll follow you around if you can summon food too." She didn't seem to be taking the whole bodyguard thing seriously, but she seemed satisfied that the fight was over now, dropping back down onto the pier, which no longer was super slippery. But did have a whole lot of weapons embedded in it, it had seen better days.
