@BluetommyMight be odd to have too many GL's flying around right off the bat. Still, I'll note your interest, and if enough people want to play Green Lanterns I'll make a GL RP set in the same universe as this one.
I thought a map of the cities in DC's United States might help. I'm not sure exactly how old the map is, though it is definitely pre-Rebirth. Might possibly be pre-New 52.
As for my character, I'm currently going for a gender swapped Beast Boy.
Superhero Name: The Question Civilian Name: Oscar Ellison Origin City and Hometown: Hub City Sex: Male Race: Human (Caucasian) Height: 5'8 Weight: 140 pounds Age: 27 Birth Date: March 15th, 1992 -------- Costumed Appearance: First and foremost, rather than a skin-like mask that is applied to his face, Oscar wears a cloth mask under a brown fedora, which obscures all of his facial features but doesn't obstruct his vision. His costume consists of a light gray trench coat, under which is a brown suit with a white undershirt and black tie. Oscar wears brown leather gloves, and black elevator shoes which boost his height by two inches. Picture for reference. Civilian Appearance: Oscar is a seemingly average, unassuming man most often seen wearing a white dress shirt, a black tie and beige khakis. However, hidden by his clothing is a rather lean build and a few scars, courtesy of his vigilante activities. His eyes are baggy from night after night with little to no sleep, and perpetual stubble clings to his face due to the cheap razors he uses. He has brown hair in a close-cropped cut, and dull, icy blue eyes. Picture for reference. Icon: A question mark (?). Costumed Personality: The Question is an enigma, to put it simply. Speaking both laconically and sparsely, he is perhaps the very definition of a stoic crusader for justice. However, when he gets to talking, he really gets to talking, with filibusters on his various conspiracy theories ranging from the typical ('The moon landing hoax', 'Roswell UFO incident', etc.) to the odd ('Topically applied fluoride renders your teeth detectable by spy satellite') to the downright idiotic ('Aglets have an unknown, yet sinister, purpose'). Civilian Personality: Oscar is much better at hiding his unstable side. He is polite and cordial, never talking back to his superiors or anyone else for that matter, and seems to be a walking doormat. Beneath this friendly facade is an estranged man suffering from insomnia, with a very strong sense of justice and a black and white morality that would seem borderline insane to others. This inability to get a good night's sleep and his sense of justice is what drove him to become a vigilante. Super abilities: -Skills: Oscar is a skilled investigator, able to spot small details and make deductions if given the proper clues. He is also skilled in espionage, be it disguises or stealth, and is a proficient combatant, utilizing a mix of boxing and street fighting in addition to using the environment to his advantage. -Powers: N/A -Gadgets: N/A -Weapons: Brass knuckles worn under his gloves. Otherwise, anything he can get his hands on. Civilian Occupation: Financial advisor at Hub City General Hospital. It's a fancy way of saying he's an accountant. --------- Character History/Origin: Oscar Ellison was born in Hub City, a city notorious for its high crime rate. His mother died during childbirth and his father had left before he was born, leaving him to be put in a destitute orphanage in the worst part of town, known as The Wedge. From childhood to adolescence, he saw the worst of the world while living in the slums, and this early exposure to the horrors of the world affected him deeply.
Despite many attempts, Oscar was never adopted, and lived in the orphanage until he was 16. He was given status as an emancipated youth and set up with a low-paying job as a waiter and a cheap apartment, which was still located in The Wedge. He saved all the money he could while using the rest to pay for rent and cheap food, his goal being to enroll in a community college with the saved up money at 18. His patience and saving paid off, and he enrolled in the local community college when he was 18.
After a year in the college, he transferred to a university in Gotham, and completed his bachelor's degree in accounting. He returned to Hub City, getting a job as a financial advisor in the general hospital, got an apartment in a better part of town, and lived life normally for another two years. However, his first 18 years stuck in the Wedge still stuck with him, and he couldn't sleep well at night knowing that there was still crime rampant in the streets. He decided he would do something about it.
For a year, Oscar trained himself to fight, tapping into his time in the orphanage and the fights he'd get into with the other boys, both the play fights and the legitimate squabbles that would end in blood and bruises. He trained himself to use his smaller build to his advantage whilst sneaking around or hiding, and also trained himself to remain unobtrusive in public in case he ever needed to stake a place out or follow a criminal. After a year and a half of training, he figured he was ready, and made a mask out of cloth to hide his entire head before beginning his one-man war on crime.
For the past two years, Oscar has operated as the Question, and is often regarded as just an urban myth by the people of Hub City (save for some of the criminals, who know a little too well just how real he is). But soon, they'll find out just how wrong they are.
Optional Information: Oscar keeps a journal, which is most often used to document his vigilante activities. ---------- Nemesis: Considers each criminal to be his enemy. Aside from that, he has no real 'arch-enemy' (at least for now). Allies: N/A (again, at least for now) Team: N/A (rule of three: at least for now)
