Sitting on a stage broadcast in solid light, onto three screens projected throughout the entire crowd, was a modular brick-like object plated in lapis lazuli, with one of the corners cut out and a golden Eye of Horus embedded into it. Though there was much commotion, the noise quickly died down as a light shone from the eye. It was mostly silent, when the silhouette of a man in a white coat and popped collar appeared. As the light died down, the silhouette had turned out to belong to none other than Seto Kaiba, who of course is a man who needs no introduction.

He seemed to stretch a bit, curling his fingers in and out, as if trying to get used to a new set of clothes, before looking out to the audience, grabbing the brick-like object and then tossing the podium aside, as if he needed it anyways. Two staff members were ready, picking up the podium, taking it off stage, still visible to anyone close enough to the physical stage.

“Welcome duelists young and old to Kaiba Corp’s newest and greatest creation. I, King of Games and CEO of Kaiba Corp, Seto Kaiba, present to you, Kaiba World™!

Kaiba World™ is comprised of five separate theme parks: The Seto Kaiba King of the Jungle Wildlife Park™, the Blue-Eyes White Water Rapids Water Park™, the Kaiba King of Games Kingdom theme park™, the Kaiba Corp King of Video Games Technologies Center™, and Seto Kaiba's Water World Water Park™. You will also have access to our Kaiba World™ Golf and Minigolf Courses.

And of course, after several complaints of my Kaiba Land™ theme park having only one restroom, each theme park within Kaiba World™ is equipped with two restrooms.”

Collected before the stage was a large crowd of people of all shapes, sizes, and especially smells. They were sat around the Kaiba World Grand Amphitheater, an open-air stadium with glass suites occupied by VIPs in fancy clothing; the exterior was stylized as the head of Blue-Eyes White Dragon, the back of the head opening to reveal the Colosseum proper. The rooms were nice and air conditioned, providing shelter from the warm, humid tropical air outside. Those outside, of course, had water misting fans rigged over head to keep them cool.

“You have all been hand selected by me, Seto Kaiba, as the first to experience Kaiba World™, based on your performance in our virtual console World Championship™ games, our mobile game Duel Links™, or based on your records and performance at sanctioned OTS™ stores. Rest assured that the men, women, and variations thereupon who stand among you are indeed the best of the best in terms of dueling capacity, perhaps even enough to rival the King of Games himself, that is me, Seto Kaiba.

As appreciation for playing our Duel Monsters™ game, brought to you of course by our partner Industrial Illusions™, and of course buying our Kaiba Corp products, we have chosen to reward each of you with an entire month’s vacation. This includes a stay in one of our Kaiba World Premium Blue-Eyes White Dragon Resort Hotels™, lasting the duration of your stay here in Kaiba World; a $200 pre-paid card good at any of our Kaiba World restaurants™, concession stands™, and gift shops™; and a chance to duel, none other than the King of Games himself, me, Seto Kaiba.

The tournament's events will begin tomorrow morning. Until then, please do find the time to settle into your new rooms. I hope you enjoy your stay! Wahahahahaha!”

Then, with a swish of his coat, Kaiba stepped off the podium, taking the brick with him.

Gathered among the throng shoved together in the Kaiba World™ Grand Amphitheater was the diminutive tortoise inside the robotic shell that was known as Scrimshaw. Currently Scrimshaw was hovering over a group of seats that were situated in the 'nosebleed sections'. Inside the plexiglass orb that revealed the fleshy, well in this case scaly, head that proved not only was this machine not a full machine, but also would show to some observer that Scrimshaw was watching the broadcast intently.

This megalomaniac beyond megalomaniacs had set the wheels in motion for the fated meeting; well Scrimshaw at least hoped that The Creator would be found here. Noting the various parks that were available for playing at the Tortoise racked its enhanced mind to recall which of the park hotels it signed up for. Shortly after this thought Scrimshaw pondered on what to spend the gift card on. While thinking of what possible use it would have the tortoise absentmindedly hovered backwards and pushed back on a poor and unfortunate soul who was sitting directly behind him.

"Eeey shell for brains..." snarled out the patron from behind, a somewhat bulky juvenile rocking a greased up mullet and sporting an open leather jacket revealing a tanned torso. The youth kicked up his feet and placed them right up against Scrimshaw's titanium carapace. "Joo think you can back up into the Puerto Rican Warrior an get away wit it? Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. Wrong muchacho." And with that the juvenile furiously shoved his feet on the shell, and with the help of gravity, causing Scrimshaw to spiral down the coliseum's seating.

"A veritable Adonis of a man stands up as the speech closes, striding forth like the majestic puma. His gaze sweeps across the crowd, but everyone avoids eye contact. Is it his trademark football pads? His amazing voice? No, they don't look him in the face because they know. This guy, he's the king of this jungle. He's the boss of this gym. He is... RIP ROCKBONE! They're spooked, now, whispering to each other, because they understand. This guy's the real deal."

"RIP ROCKBONE doesn't believe in pansy stuff like talent or private tournaments, see. RIP ROCKBONE thinks that any man with a full hand can be a real MVP if he puts his mind to it. RIP ROCKBONE will duel anyone, anytime, anywhere, and that's a FACT! You know why that is? Because RIP ROCKBONE's got confidence. Charisma. Chutzpah. He knows you gotta be ready for anything the world throws at you, and nowhere on God's green earth is truly safe. Have any of these people dueled while they were taking a dump? Probably not. But RIP ROCKBONE has, and he won, too. That's just how life is when you're the Undefeated of the East."

"He stops suddenly, as if waiting for something. Whirls around and braces quickly, as if to catch a charge. Right on cue, a strange metal disk rolls down from a higher section. RIP ROCKBONE grunts as the bulky item nearly causes him to stumble and roll his ankle, but stands firm. What could this alien object be, the crowd wonders. Secretly, even RIP ROCKBONE ponders this, as such an enigma stumps even his VAST KNOWLEDGE gleaned from HIGHER EDUCATION. It must be as my comparative religion professor feared, thinks RIP ROCKBONE, arriving at the only possible conclusion: Alien ghosts have come to Earth to steal our card games!"

Though the CEO's speech was informational and Sir Michael M Thunderchild was a patient man, he could only spend so much time away from water. It was a 14 hour plane ride across the sea to the airport and another hour bus ride. He knew he was close to the ocean- just one hundred miles out- no more than a two hour drive- and he yearned for it. Antsy, Sir Thunderchild was staring at the sky through the entire speech, trying his hardest to pay attention.

The afternoon sky was bright. "Fifteen hundred" Thunderchild noted, looking at his watch. "Or three o'clock as these Americans call it." he mumbled to himself in a disdainful tone. He returned to zoning out, mouth opening, trying to taste the water from the misting fans. It wasn't salt water, but would suffice.

Finally, when the introduction was over and the crowd began to disperse and mingle, Thunderchild could not stand to stay any longer. He pushed his way out of the crowd toward the outside. The hotels were just a ten minute walk away from the Colosseum. The ticket, as he saw on the screen of his duel disk, said that he would stay in Hotel 3, and there he went. According to Kaiba Corp personel, his luggage was already put up there, in his room, as everybody else's luggage was put in their rooms by Kaiba Corp staff. "Hopefully there aren't any mix-ups" he mumbles, taking the steps up to his room. He flashes the bar code on his duel disk to the room door which promptly scans it, the door opening.

Without closing the door, Thunderchild disrobed quickly. He was a fast changer, thanks to his time in the Navy. He neatly placed his clothes on the table. Thunderchild was in a speedo. He has had it on for a good while underneath his clothing. Thudnerchild locked the door and headed down to the pool. He was alone save for the bored hotel staff.

"Good. No one here to ruin my day." He sighed, sinking into the pool water.

As the downward descent continued Scrimshaw began to take measures in order to stop this propelling motion. Underneath the engines began to push a bit more energy forward as the robotic carapace began to slow and eventually stopped. Now Scrimshaw hovered a bit in the air watching as others, besides the ones the robotic disk could have ran into, began to make their leave. Surely the best course of action could potentially be leaving for its assigned room and understanding the quarters that were provided by this tournament's benefactor Seto Kaiba. However the bio-mechanical enhanced tortoise noticed a Modern Day Apollo of a man. It was an unmistakable sight to be sure, those football shoulder pads were quite noticeable. If Scrimshaw recalled correctly that raw specimen of the potential of humanity was up a few more sections.

So Scrimshaw hovered and began its ascension to RIP ROCKBONE. It took some time to arrive and hover near the upper body levels of RIP ROCKBONE, but Scrimshaw had eventually completed the journey. The tortoise knew that it had to try to communicate with this veritable Adonis before settling in the proper hotel. For a multitude of seconds the disc just hovered near RIP ROCKBONE the engines made a bit of noise. Then all of a sudden there static hissing coming from the shell as Scrimshaw began its attempt to communicate.

"NUQENH." hissed out from the speakers as Scrimshaw quickly realized there was a problem with the language detection unit. The tortoise racked its mind for potential solutions; and hoped that RIP ROCKBONE would come to some sort of rational conclusion regarding this.

Bright, blue skies with only a few errant clouds dotting it set the tone for the day, the sun having free reign to shine down from above. It didn't seem like a droplet of rain would fall from the sky, not this day. The water misting fan rigged over one of the seats in the audience had been turned off. The occupant of the seat was not bothered by the sun shining down on her skin, heating up the entire body. She sat with her eyes closed, half-heartedly listening to the dull announcement made by the grandstanding showoff at the very bottom. This contestant, Õja Rura, respected Seto Kaiba only for his dueling prowess but not for his attitude.

Once the announcement was over, Rura was finally allowed to leave this overdesigned stadium and be left to her own devices. She waited for the crowd to disperse a little before getting up herself, unwilling to be caught in a crowd of weak-minded individuals. When she stepped out of the arena she was met with more blazing sunlight, two cards jutting out of her deck in response. Rura took them and held them up high in the direction of the sun. The shade the cards cast on themselves obscured their artwork but the levels three and seven, as well as the FIRE orb in the top right corner were all still visible.

"...Yeah, I know. This reminds you of home."

Rura muttered to herself and slid the cards back into her deck, taking a quick look around. Sticking around the amphitheater wasn't going to get Rura anywhere, but she still had to fill the day. She raised up the duel disk strapped to her arm and stared down at it for a few moments, then glanced at one of the guiding boards nearby. All distractions seemed like they would be fitting places for parts of her deck, but none of them looked interesting as a diversion. Still, the woman didn't have much choice in the matter. Rura headed in the direction of the safari park, mildly curious to see what animals this egomaniac decided to buy with his excessive wealth. It took some navigating and dodging people with the same idea as her, but eventually Rura found her way to the zone proper.

There were paths laid out to follow which were decorated to look like part of the environment, but it didn't seem like there was anything stopping visitors from going off of them and exploring on their own. Rura didn't feel particularly adventurous today and decided to go along one of the dirt roads, only mildly glancing to the side to see if there were any animals around. She eventually came to a more dense tropical forest, with thick foliage and unbelievably tall trees. The woman was hit with a wave of nostalgia and decided to take a break in the area, leaning against one of those trees and cooling off in the shade. Much like before, she took out two cards of her deck and stared down at them. This time they were levels four and seven with the EARTH orb donning their top right.

"...Daichi..." Rura muttered to herself, looking solemn and lost in thought.

A young individual started to listen to the opening speech which some guy called Kaiba was holding. “I have beaten you plenty of times in my games. I don’t think I need to beat you in real life…” SJ said, the scarf covering her voice and hoping that nobody would catch her. She immediately left after the opening speech to go to her assigned room, ignoring most people who wanted to approach her since she had a streaming schedule to keep up. She actually forgot to announce this tournament, as it was rather sudden, and after a pretty long elevator ride, she unpacked her streaming gear. It consisted of her laptop and some cables to connect to her handheld, with the streaming software on her laptop booting up in the background as she set everything up. She wanted to start right on time and not be late for her usual schedule.

“Silver Joker here, I’m here at Kaiba world for some tournament. I’m sad to say I won’t be able to stream for a while,” SJ typed out after the audience started to flow in. “This might be my last stream for a while, though while I’m here I might be able to get on again on rare occasions.” SJ had typed out in the chat, booting up the latest duel monsters game to practice. “Sorry if this isn't the usual stream, I just need to practice. This is a tournament after all,” Silver Joker responded to questions to why she isn’t doing her usual old school arcade game stream as time went on. Questions poured in on how well she’d do at the tournament, to which she put up an honest answer. “You guys know what decks I run, I highly doubt I’ll get THAT far but I think I’ll do well enough.”

The stream continued with occasional suggestions to improve her decks, to which she responded with “I appreciate the offer but no thanks, it wouldn't be my deck if I didn't build it myself.” Most viewers were satisfied with SJ’s response, though one viewer kept giving ‘suggestions’ and at some point, SJ responded rather bluntly “I’ll change my deck when YOU beat my high scores in the arcades,” then linked said viewer to the list of high scores she holds and timed him/her out for 30 minutes.

Dan Black stood with a small child who was showing off his ideas for cards- two more pieces of Dragon support. It was always Dragons with the kids. Dragon Rulers, Heiratics, Dragunity, always someone at Industrial Illusions made sure dragons were the tippest toppest of the game. That person made Dan sick, because it inspired kids like this to make cards like this. A level 4 monster with three thousand attack and defense that let you special summon a dragon-type monster from your hand or deck or graveyard or banished zone or extra deck while ignoring its summoning conditions and then destroy everything on the opponent's field. Internally, he was screaming, overcome by an intense desire to beat this kid with a lead pipe.

Externally, he used his perfected office politics to give a warm smile and try to explain just why this might be a bad card to include- especially with the ludicrous attack and defense stats. The searching effect was too broad, especially for something much, much stronger than Kidmodo Dragon. The criticisms continued, delivered calmly and concisely. Then Dan patted the kid on the shoulder and headed off, breathing quickly and counting to ten.

During the whole announcement, Gin was in a silent prayer, keeping his eyes closed and his palms together, while still listening to Kaiba's speech. It was a beautiful day outside, with the sun's full glory high in the sky. It was only natural he pay respects during the Light's prime time. The sun's rays were quite warm today, actually, but that only served to strengthen his faith as he prayed. Besides, his dark clothes were made in a way as to disperse heat and keep him cool, so he would fare better in the heat than most.

As he finished his prayer, it seemed like Seto Kaiba had also finished his speech. Watching Kaiba go, Gin wondered if he would have the pleasure of challenging him. Gin's Duelist pride made him tense up in anticipation, but the moment passed and he soon calmed down. Right now, though, he had other things to do, like figuring out where he should go first. After a moment's time, he quickly decided that perhaps he should find someone to travel with. He'd take in the sights, make connections, and above all, have fun. The question was, who should he follow?

Gin looked around, but didn't really find anyone who caught his eye. There were some odd ones around, such as the one with the football helmet, but no one he saw so far really interested him enough. As he turned, however, someone did just that. To others it may have seemed like a minor detail, but to Gin, it was just what called out to him. Someone was holding their cards up to the sky, specifically in the direction of the sun. Was that person a believer of the Light as well? Gin tried to make his way over to her, but he was a fair distance aways, and the girl was already on the move. Nevertheless, Gin persisted, having lost sight of her but soon finding her again. She acted as if she wished to avoid contact with others, but Gin would not back down from finding a potential follow of the Light.

While Gin had trouble keeping sight of her, she kept following a path, which made it easy to follow her. After going down a dirt path, Gin finally managed to catch up to Rura. "Excuse me..." Gin said as he approached her, out of breath from following her path the entire time. "May I have... a moment... of your time?"
