Clan: The Akizakura clan, named for the cosmos flower which symbolizes order, beauty, and balance, traits found in many of the Akizakura clan, especially their women. They are known for having strawberry blonde, blonde or sometimes even dark red hair, either wavy or straight. The women's role is anything but just a caregiver in this clan, as the Akizakura are a clan that has had to defend themselves from persecution more than once, and are masters of the art of deception and self-defense. Their unique Kekkei Genkai allows them to fool and deceive their opponents very easily, but requires a quelled ego and a witty mind. Few members of the Akizakura actually possess the Jibun no Shindo, and even fewer can master it.

The Jibun no Shindo originated in a woman born before the first Shinobi war, but after the dawn of Ninshuu. The woman was Kagome Akizakura, a balanced woman of great strength who preached that women were just as good of fighters as men were, as many women felt their place was at home playing the role of a caregiver. Kagome agreed only with the point of women being excellent caregivers, as she herself was a mother who embraced her maternal instincts and spread love to everyone she met. She was a beautiful soul, and had a flawless body to match. However, she preached that women should not be subservient in a Shinobi society due to their maternity, rather it gave them the strength to be some of the greatest Kunoichi ever. The maternal instinct and the nature of wanting to protect what one loves, especially one's children, she taught that these emotions of love were the most powerful weapons any Shinobi could learn to utilize.

This was not all. Along with embracing one's own emotions to be utilized as strength, she spoke of tolerance and understanding, that the emotions of others were a product of their experiences, and people did not choose to be how they were, they merely act based on how they view a situation. Kagome taught compassion and empathy, to learn from others' perspectives and to take strength from them as well, for the world was not to be experienced alone. She said that the world itself had a soul, just like each human did. And the soul of the universe was within us all, we simply had to find it. She said that each and every object and organism of the universe had its own soul, memories and purpose here. Kaguya had the insight to be able to see into objects and discern their past leading up to the present, and was able to discern how situations would unfold based off of the emotion's of others around her. She became so in tune with the souls of those around her that she could temporarily blend her own soul with them, assimilating them as part of herself. She spoke of the process in which we all touch each other's souls upon meeting in some form, and that each person you interact with retains a part of you from that interaction, and with each successive interaction the part of you that is in them will grow. And so Kagome lived by these beliefs, and collected parts of all the souls she came across, and so she loved them, just as she loved her family.

Thus, the Akizakura clan was born. To her daughter, and her granddaughter, and her great granddaughter, until she passed, she taught to embrace their emotions and to always be weary of the emotions of others. And so, every woman that was born throughout her lineage was birthed with the gift to be in tune with one's own soul, and to be in tune with the souls of others and of the world around them.

Kekkei Genkai: Jibun no Shindo (Vibration of Oneself) - This is a powerful Kekkei Genkai centered around energy and emotions. All who possess this Kekkei Genkai are extremely empathic by nature and can literally feel others' emotions when they are near them. When the wielder of this Kekkei Genkai builds a strong bond with another person or animal, they can feel strong emotions come from them from very far away, and in return those who connect with an Akizakura will feel surges of emotion from them occasionally. This causes confusion in young Akizakura who are not used to feeling such strong emotional tides, and often takes years of getting used to to be able to discern the emotions apart from one another.

Beyond feeling just mere emotions, anyone possessing the Jibun no Shindo is capable of feeling another's energy in various forms, most notably the ability to feel their chakra and changes in one's chakra without even having to look at them. With this, Akizakura are some of the most skilled sensors in the world as they can track down individual chakra signatures over vast distances as long as they have 'felt' their chakra presence before and are also human lie detectors in the manner of detecting subtle differences in one's body and chakra when they lie. Those possessing the Jibun no Shindo can feel the heartbeats and presences of others around them, and can feel various forms of chakra. For example, an Akizakura with this Kekkei Genkai can feel the chakra nature of someone they are near, for each person's chakra is unique. In the same rite, they can feel when they are in a Genjutsu due to the chakra disturbances in their body and in the area. This level of awareness can be very overwhelming at times, especially when emotions run high and there is a lot going on around them. However it is a blessing, as the Akizakura are nearly always aware of their surroundings due to their ability to feel and process the energy of the atmosphere, limited only by how much control and progression they have with their Kekkei Genkai. The connections the user develops with this Kekkei Genkai are for life, so once they have registered a person's unique chakra signature and felt their energy, they can track them over great distances. The range of their Kekkei Genkai is only limited by the user's concentration and personal skill with Jibun no Shindo.

This Kekkei Genkai is unique in the way that some Akizakura have developed it. Users are able to feel objects and 'empathize' with them, literally assimilating part of the substance into their own body and taking on its properties via a connection between the physical energy of the object and the user. e.g. the user touches metal and assimilates it into their arm, giving their arm metallic properties for a short duration, or until the user willfully cancels it. This gives birth to hundreds of possibilities, and by assimilating with the Chakra of another they are able to gain insight into their abilities. The assimilation aspect is hard to control and due to this, young Akizakura may only assimilate parts of their body with objects at a time, and cannot perform full-body assimilations just yet, nor can they perform multiple assimilations at once.

A very special trait of this Kekkei Genkai, which only a fraction of those who are born with the Jibun no Shindo are then also born with this, is the ability to feel deep connections within entities through mere touch by assimilating part of their chakra and soul into them, forming a deep bond where the user unifies themselves with the entity. For example, when the wielder of this unique trait touches a sword, they will gain the knowledge of all who have wielded the sword, and knowledge of all battles that sword has taken part in, and the events leading to how the sword is where it is now. This skill is emotionally overwhelming as it transfers memories and experiences into the user rapidly, which is a portal for negative emotions and positive emotions alike into the user. As such, it cannot be used continuously as it drains the user's mental energy. When used on another person the amount of knowledge and experience seen from them depends on how long contact is established, as such small periods of contact will only allow for a light form of insight into the energy of the person, like clues about their past and personality, and their nature as human beings. Long periods of contact allow for a much deeper connection to be established, similar to seeing another's life through their point of view, however this cannot be done to immediately gain skills or techniques from another, as it would still require first-hand practice in order to learn anything they have been given insight to, akin to learning in theory but not learning through personal application to said concepts.

Traits: All of Namine's accomplishment stems from her humbleness amid a garden of brilliance. She is collectively aware of herself and her surroundings simultaneously. She passively feels the energy of everything around her. She is revered as a master of chakra control and a healer of the body an soul. She is extremely quick and agile in both body and wits, equating to her balanced swordsmanship. Her chakra reserves are about average.

Appearance:

History: Namine was born during turbulent times. The Akizakura clan did not have much of a name for itself, as their abilities included much deception and avoidance of combat unless necessary. Despite those facts, the Akizakura, specifically their women, were targeted for their unique skills and were seen as a threat when they collaborated their abilities. In a clan full of sensors, you'd think they had each other's backs and could stay out of trouble. This was not the case as some might have liked to think... During the Second Great War most of the Akizakura were exterminated by other villages out of fear, or by one other group in particular. The survivors were thrown on the run or into hiding. When they could not hide, the clan members proudly stood together in the face of danger.

Namine's father died in the first massacre of the Akizakura. Her mother took her, a young girl at the age of seven who at the time who could not hide herself, and the Nuru-Kukan no Tachi away from their home of Konohagakure. They were on the run for a while, and it was hard to keep away from those who hunted them as they had no true place to call home. Her mother was a valiant woman who vowed to protect her daughter with her life. The love of her mother kept her alive, and she memorized the warm feeling of love that her mother brought her with her Kekkei Genkai.

The women of the Akizakura are strong, maternal caregivers, full of love and charity. These traits were passed down to Namine, in addition to the balance and beauty that her mother was known for. Namine's mother was the matriarch of the clan at the time, so her face was well-known in some parts of the country. She did her best to hide her daughter, they hid for years, but it was not enough. She could sense the impending doom drawing nearer each day, and eventually made the toughest decision of her life. She relinquished possession of Namine over to an orphanage, explaining to the young girl that she must hide herself at whatever cost, for she was a unique soul that was meant to bring love into a new era of the Shinobi world. She promised that one day Namine would never have to hide her identity, and that she would be one to usher in a new order to the world.

Her mother was found and was killed, not before putting up the fight of her life. She fought without Nuru-Kukan no Tachi, the blade that she left to her daughter. Namine grew up alone and resisted any form of connection from those around her. A few short years after her mother died, the country's political climate became somewhat stable. It was hard for her to understand, all she knew was that she had a gift that needed to be hidden from the world. Her mother's parting words stuck with her for the rest of her life, echoing through her dreams and guiding her through life with the promise of peace.

The previous Hokage managed to find Namine at the orphanage before any of those hunting her kind could. He offered her and a few other Akizakura survivors safe haven in Konoha. Sensing the man's pure intentions, she agreed. The Hokage furthered her Shinobi training and placed her into a squad led by a man that would eventually become the current Hokage.

Namine became the matriarch of the Akizakura clan by default at age seventeen. Few of her relatives that survived could be found, as they most likely fled and went into hiding. A memorial was set up for her mother, as she was a prominent figure in Konoha as a wandering medical Shinobi who often came to Konoha to deliver them herbs and teachings before the war. Namine then entered the ninja academy and was recognized as an above average student with accolades in chakra control and a knack for grasping the fundamentals of Ninjutsu.

She finished top of her class and was promoted to Chuunin after only sixteen months of dedication to her title as Genin. She viewed the opportunity of being a Kunoichi of great skill as more of an obligation. There was not a chance she was going to let her mother's will fade away, the bar was set high from birth and she would live up to her name as an Akizakura even if her identity had to remain concealed.

She was just as rigorous a worker, no- more so as a Chuunin as she matured mentally beyond her years, collecting experience and empathizing with the efforts and actions of those she had encountered along the way. She had become a master swordsman and had begun work as a medical ninja. She believed that ending suffering could be done by teaching the value of love, and this core belief became the root of her medical teachings. She was even able to come to terms with her mother's death and forgave the world for taking her family at such a young age. It was at the young age of seventeen where she found a tender compassion for the world, preceding her promotion to Jounin.

After that Namine grew into a stunning image of her mother with even greater skill as a medical kunoichi and renowned swordsman. She spent days on end alone with nothing but her sword. She would meditate in the forests with only its company and delve into the memories the sword held within. Eventually she came to know each member of her family who had wielded the sword going all the way back to Kagome Akizakura. In fact, she spent so much time training and meditating with Nuru-Kukan no Tachi she was shown a vision of its birth and creation. Before that moment, she was told by her mother that everything had a soul, even inanimate objects. She did not fully grasp that concept until knowing how her ancestors' sword was born. It was pulled directly from nothing, a point of zero energy, by none other than Kagome herself, and given form and life using the principles of Yin and Yang. At that precise moment she felt a pensive connection between her and the sword, as if the soul of Nuru-Kukan was acknowledging her soul and her ownership of the blade as a true swordsman. This was a key event in her development as seeing the principles of Yin and Yang in action through her Kekkei Genkai gave her a new perspective on medical ninjutsu as well as her swordsmanship.

Namine gained a newfound respect for life, nature and all that occupied this plane of existence. She studied long and hard on the aspects of Yin and Yang and the roles they played in the world. This knowledge of life that was gifted to her led to a deep appreciation of nature and so she started a garden next to the grave site of the Akizakura clan. After beginning the garden and filling it with all different types of plants and flowers she felt it was still lacking, and in her mind a new path opened when she became aware of the void in her garden. The garden was her life, and it had an emptiness to it. There were no conflictions in her mind, Namine left that very day and spent her twenties all the way into her early thirties traveling the world in search for philosophical meaning in the world.

She met hundreds of people during these beautiful years, experiencing bounds of love and finding peace within herself, a certain kind of calmness overtook her during this journey. A type of gratefulness for her life that kept her content at all times, never needing more than what was given to her and never needing to rush anywhere. Her patience peaked, and she easily empathized with all the concerns and troubled of everyone she met. Whilst traveling and gaining knowledge and helping others she also collected hundreds upon hundreds of species of plants, making journeys back to her garden at home when she could to bring the many new species back to her home in Konoha.

When she felt whole and complete inside, and had grown comfortable with only herself and Nuru-Kukan, she finally returned home to a radiant, lively garden. It was beautiful with all the colors of the rainbow fitting in somewhere in her garden, so many intoxicating aromas drifting from her plants, and some colorful poisons lurking in the corners of her garden. Now thaat she had returned home, Namine settled down and became a teacher of philosophy, medicine, and a well-known kenjutsu specialist. She agreed to take any student willing to learn and adapt to her teachings. Namine currently lives in a cottage on the outskirts of Konoha, not directly inside of the village. Her garden and the gravesite of her ancestors is behind her home. She took up a position with the Empire due to her sense of order and duty to her people, but question some of their methods and intentions, as she has never blindly accepted authority.

Personality: Namine is a shy woman, though it does not seem this way due to her constant connection with the internal world, and her Kekkei Genkai being a bridge from the external world into her internal mind. She constantly switches between the two, from taking in all of the energy around her, to withdrawing herself into her own little bubble. She is pensive, forming opinions of others and scenarios based on not only her thoughts and emotions but from the emotions that others give off pertaining to what she is thinking about. She views the world as an analytical web spun from exchanges of energy.

She is a very aware woman who does not miss a beat, keeping up in conversation easily due to her ability to anticipate others' actions based on their feelings and body language, which her sensory abilities remind her of often. Her analytical mind only hinders her when she is alone and her thoughts are left to race each other in circles, leading to over-analyzing and occasional bouts of depression. Deep down, she is a strong girl mentally who deals with tragedy well. Due to her Jibun no Shindo she is highly capable of dealing with her emotions and counseling others with theirs.

Her clairvoyant ability to feel the memories of those who she comes into contact with either through personal connection or the assimilation of objects gives her knowledge and wisdom beyond her years, and is often thought to be much older than she truly is because of this. She is very outgoing from her years traveling as a ronin medic and takes on new experience with an open heart. She is full of love straight down to the core, and enjoys spreading this love very much, while she is not hesitant to guard it from evil who seek to destroy it.

Combat Style: Namine remains distant from combat as a medical nin. Her sensory and emotional abilities are better used at a distance, not engaged directly in battle. Some think she is unskilled in the art of combat, but that cannot be further from the truth. All Akizakura women are instructed in self-defense, and Namine has embraced that aspect of her clan. She was first taught deception, how to avoid battle, before being taught how to mentally and physically deal with confrontation. While she is a fragile woman, her agility and reflexes are her strong suits when it comes to battle. Namine may be more suited as a sensor but she can hold her own in a hand to hand bout. She is stern and determined, never losing focus of her opponents. She combines this with the nimble gracefulness of her personality, coordinating them to create an elegant form of combat.

Description: Upon placing a small portion of the user's chakra into a person or object, an Akizakura using the Jibun no Shindo can feel the location of where their chakra is at all times, meaning this technique is used to track objects and people that she has become a part of by placing her chakra within them, forming a bond of physical energy from the object and the Akizakura's spiritual energy. More skilled Akizakura can use this technique to obtain visual images of where the object/person sharing the bond is, or to obtain sensory information from the area.

By assimilating her chakra with another person, she is able to gain insight into their emotions, taking them on as if they were her own. These feelings must be balanced out within the user in order to correctly deal with them and keep her mind in order. In addition to feeling the emotions of the other, she is able to track their whereabouts by sensing the chakra within them. Description: The ability of an Akizakura to force their will and emotions upon others after performing hand seals, for simple thoughts/emotions only a one-handed seal is necessary. By empathizing with someone, she can transfer subtle thoughts, suggestions and emotions to their being. These effects can be resisted but due to the subtle nature of this Genjutsu it is hard to realize that a Genjutsu is being afflicted. Skilled users can create entire scenarios in victims' heads that lead them to a set conclusion that feels logically sound, leading to deceptive illusions.

The illusion is very realistic in the sense that the user who is creating the illusion has the target's desires and will in mind, forming a story of sorts that the victim will play through as if it were actually happening, forming an elaborate world that the victim believes to be true. They have full sensory control as long as the victim believes the world to be true.
Drawbacks: The story will continue only as long as the enemy believes they are in reality. As soon as they logically assume the scenario is Genjutsu, it will end automatically

Description: With her knowledge of medicine and healing techniques, Namine uses an array of Fuuinjutsu to foster love and creation through her right arm which is used to mend suffering of the body and spirit, using Yin-Yang chakra to give life and form to those around her. By using this technique Namine can foster the growth of life around her, causing plants to flourish under her diligent care.
In addition to the healing aspects this seal provides she can also physically rebuild shattered objects as well, albeit slowly. She cannot animate them to life, but can reconstruct their form to her will.
Drawbacks: In addition to the concentration and chakra cost of this technique, Namine feels the suffering of all the wounds she heals.

Description: The antipode of her healing techniques, this seal is perhaps her deadliest combat-based medical technique. Although it has very little medical application, some believe it has none but Namine knows this to be false as it has many non-combat applications, one just has to think creatively. The antithesis of her right arm, this array of seals is arranged in a numerical complex opposite of the right arm. The first seal of this tattoo fosters her assimilation into whatever she makes contact with, and along with her Jonin no Shinzo, she is given innate insight into whatever she touches including its physical composition. The next seal in the complex is dis-assimilation at a rapid rate. It breaks the bonds holding together whatever it is she physically assimilates to from the inside out, disrupting and destroying it as she touches it. For example, if she held a stone in her hand, there would be a split second of the first seal assimilating the rock with her chakra, and immediately after the rock would explode into smaller rocks or dust, depending on the amount of chakra used by Namine to perform the technique.
Drawbacks: The range of this technique is short, it requires a strenuous, ongoing chakra cost as long as the properties are sustained. After ending the technique Namine's body is left physically weak from fatigue. This technique can only be used once every three posts and leaves the user physically in pain in addition to the fatigue felt.

Medicines and Poisons
Over the years Namine has grown a plethora of rare plants in her garden, some for decoration but most having unique healing properties that can relieve headaches, inflammations, nausea, joint and muscle pain, digestive problems, blood pressure issues and a multitude of other uses. She has found some plants so unique that they have properties capable of healing even chakratic disturbances and damage done to a person's chakra network over time.

In addition to the healing properties of plants she has also found a wonderful array of poisons at her disposal in the forms of powder, liquid and gas. She has a few favorite poisons, her signature of which being scopolamine harvested from Datura plants growing in her garden, made into pellets that explode into a cloud of the toxin. She also carries toxins that sedate motor neurons in five minutes.

Nuru-Kukan no Tachi (Null-Void Blade) - A blade passed down through the women of the Akizakura clan. The sword is very powerful, and grows with the user as it is wielded. It is never carried, merely summoned to the user's hand through a generic seal, which can be used to summon the blade regardless of its location. The blade is somewhat sentient in a way, as it contains all the memories and experiences of those who wielded it, and will give the wielder visions of those experiences and emotions over time to facilitate the growth of the wielder. Rare Akizakura members possessing the ability to 'feel' the memories of what they touch can access these memories and experiences on their own when called upon. Throughout the clan's history the sword is passed down from the oldest woman of the clan to her daughter, who is instructed to pass it onto her daughter, or in case of a woman born without daughters, to the next youngest girl in the clan. It is used for protection and growth, as a clan revolving mainly around matriarchal principles it is not abnormal to pass down such a powerful sword to young, developing kunoichi. The sword's power lies in its ability to neutralize energy. The primary function of the blade is to calm the wielder of the emotional stress put on them from their Jibun no Shindo, allowing clarity of thought amidst even the most tumultuous of situations. The blade's reputation of being incredibly powerful comes from the fact that it is ideal for disrupting and counteracting Jutsu (especially Ninjutsu) by nullifying the effects of chakra, however the blade comes at a cost. Wielding it outside of its sheathe comes with a constant chakra drain. As a practiced swordsman wielding this blade since her mother passed coupled with her stout chakra control she can wield the blade for up to fifteen minutes per day without fatigue. Anything over and Namine begins to feel physical strain and chakra exhaustion.

Personality:
An outsider, or at least that's how Renji sees himself. A sacrificial weapon. One destined to break under the Hidden Stone's increasing demand for excellence. Renji is mostly a subdued young man, heavily disciplined during his time spent growing up within the hidden monastery of his Clan; Shinkai Shūdōin. Although he rarely speaks out of turn, this doesn't put a stop to his often wild thoughts. Renji usually finds that he has to keep himself in check. His growing disillusionment with his title, and indeed his position amongst his Clan, is beginning to sow the seeds of hatred. A hatred that he doesn't yet know where to place.

This alone is enough to annoy Renji, however, you'd be hard-pressed to see it on his face. Renji is masterful at hiding his emotions, something he has perfected during his time as a member of Iwagakure's ANBU Black Ops.

Village: Iwagakure

History/Background:
The Kurogama Clan aren't a widely known clan amongst the populous of the Hidden Stone Village, or indeed the Land of Earth itself. In fact, it is rumoured that they aren't even originally from the Land of Earth, but the Land of Bears instead. In any case the Clan's presence is hardly felt within the Hidden Stone, save for a single ninja by the name of Renjiru Kurogama. His possession of the Crystal Release Kekkei Genkai is the sole reason for his Clan's minuscule notoriety. The Kurogama Clan's unfamiliar status is, in truth, exactly what they desire and they have proven themselves willing to go to extreme lengths to keep it as such.

Originating from the far north of the country, Renji was born and raised within the walls of Shinkai Shūdōin. A highly sacred and very-well hidden monastery dedicated to practice and protection of the Shōton - Crystal Release - Kekkei Genkai. Renji was merely three years old when he was selected as a candidate to be the next Kesshōken - The Crystal Fist. For the following ten years, Renji was trained in the arts of Ninjustu and Taijutsu. Day after day he was bruised, beaten and broken by his trainers, the Abyssal Monks, who presided over everyone within the monastery walls. He ate, slept and trained alongside his fellow candidates and they were often pitted against each other in sparring matches.

Only the strong would survive and after ten long years of brutal training and punishment, the total number of viable candidates was eventually whittled down to three; Renji, Gibari and Talia. The rest either died from the training or went on to serve the monastery as future Abyssal Monks. Thirteen was the graduation age for the candidates, however, only one could take up the mantle of Kesshōken in order to fulfill the duties that lie beyond the confines of the monastery. A three-way match was chosen to decide who would be worthy to bear the name.

Each of them fought magnificently, expertly displaying their exalted proficiency at utilizing Crystal Release techniques. All three sides looked evenly matched and the fight slowly began to drag on into the evening hours. The first candidate to fall was Gibari, his guard slipped momentarily trying to fend off Renji's attack when Talia slipped a kunai effortlessly between his ribs, their usable Chakra had long since run dry and they had been forced to finish the fight with Taijutsu alone. Gibari's failure had surprised Renji, his Taijutsu had been the best of the trio, though he didn't allow it to give him pause. Renji leapt at the opportunity to strike at Talia whilst her success was still registering.

Sweeping his foot swiftly through the rapidly growing pool of Gibari's blood, Renji managed to partially blind his foe. Talia reeled from the dirty tactic, swinging wildly with her kunai, all the while Renji began to circle for the finishing blow. Talia hastily managed to clear her vision just long enough to catch a glimpse of Renji's opening. She launched herself towards him, kunai at the ready. But the opening had been a trap and in her half-blinded state, she couldn't have known that Renji was waiting to grab her wrist, re-directing her weapon away from him, before swiftly ending the match with an elbow strike to the head.

Upon his victory, Renji was granted the title of Kesshōken and informed of his duties as well as the pilgrimage south he must make to reach Iwagakure. Shinkai Shūdōin was a monastery not unknown to the Hidden Stone Village. In fact, its' continued obscurity was often ensured by Iwagakure and the Tsuchikage themself. This is due to an ongoing agreement between them both after the Kurogama Clan's rebellion against the Hidden Stone over a century ago, in which they were beaten back and nearly driven to extinction. The agreement being that the Kurogama Clan would provide the village with a single ninja whose abilities with the Shōton style reigned undisputed every twenty years.

The chosen ninja would serve Iwagakure unwaveringly until their deaths, preferably during battle. If by the twentieth year of service the Kesshōken had managed to stay alive, it would be a requirement that the successor kill the current Crystal Fist in order to rightfully take their place amongst the Hidden Stone. Renji was fortunate enough not to have to slay his elder Clansman to begin his service. Several of the chosen would opt to join the Black Ops in order to hide their name and protect whereabouts of the monastery. Renji followed in the footsteps of his predecessors, swiftly being selected to join the Hunter-nin Corps of Iwaga's ANBU Black Ops after passing the Chūnin Exam, where he has continued to serve diligently for the past eight years.

Users of Crystal Release can convert varied amounts of solid matter into Crystal. From the Earth itself to other physical constructs, such as wood and metal, Crystal Release users can transform most of their immediate surroundings into weapons, shields and modes of transport. This extends to solid-state Chakra Natures such as Earth and Wood, rendering ninja of those Chakra Natures weak to this Kekkei Genkai. Crystal Release users can also manipulate pre-existing crystals and crystalline structures.

Liquid-state natures such as Water, Lava and Storm Release each have an increased resistance to crystallization due to the more random molecular structure of their jutsu, making the conversion a much lengthier and far more taxing process. As such, Crystal Release users would likely opt against converting liquids due to the extra time and Chakra it would take with little to no advantages over converting solids.

Gaseous & Energy Chakra natures such as Wind, Boil, Scorch and Explosion Releases are significantly more resistant to crystallization due to the wild molecular structure of their jutsu, with Fire and Lightning remaining unaffected completely. This is because raw energy or chakra cannot be crystallized, as they have no physical mass to crystallize, allowing those with good chakra control or Lightning/Fire natures to counter it. Crystal Release is also susceptible to a specific sound wave frequency: because Crystal requires a very precise build-up of molecules, the proper sound waves can break down the build-up before the Crystal can properly form.

When used on living beings, the crystallization rate is greatly reduced and the Chakra required vastly increased, more-so than any other state of matter, due to the innate Chakra stored within the targeted being. This gives all of the Crystal Release user's opponents a natural defense, since the Chakra itself cannot be crystallized and thus can only be contained by forcing the target's Chakra to the center of their mass by slowly converting their physical form from the outside in.

History: Born into the Kouken family, Ayame was perhaps doomed to a life of servitude. Lead by their elders, who had known the now almost forgotten horrors of war, the Kouken family did its part in Iwagakure, playing a huge role in maintaining its many barriers and defenses. Still, despite this her first seven years in this world were joyful ones, filled even with the birth of her younger sister. Sadly, it was after these seven years passed that her story truly began, for she was deemed talented by her tutors, and so selected to carry on the tradition of their clan's Hiden Technique, the Kinzoku Youki. Her parents, fearing for her safety and wellbeing, intially resisted, but were soon bent around the fingers of the elders and made to allow the procedure to take place.

Thus, on the day of her eighth birthday, Ayame had searing hot metal implanted into her arms, legs, hands, feet, and torso where they would stay for the rest of her life. The procedure took almost twelve hours, during which she passed out more than eight times and screamed so much that she lost her voice for a full week afterwards.

Taking quite a long time to recover, Ayame didn't have much of an appetite or will to do anything for almost a month after that. However, with rehabilitation and training she slowly recovered from the traumatic experience, coming out of it with a newfound respect for life and normalcy. With the pain having scarred her, despite her recovery, Ayame's childhood was almost certainly over. The ensuing days were spent training with the masters of the clan and being educated by the clan elders.

Ten years later, on what would have been a perfectly normal day, the lives of both sisters would change irrevocably. On that sunny day, Ayame was practicing on one of the clan's training fields, attempting to use a technique that one of her tutors was going to teach her later on, she was unaware that her younger sister had wandered onto the field. Executing the technique, she lost control and, as she turned to discharge the technique at a training post, there was her sister...right in the line of fire.

Eyes widening, Ayame had no time to change tacts, and so the technique went off, creating two barriers on either side of her sister, which slammed inwards, even as a number of others cut at her, gouging open her arm while cracking other bones. Screaming out even as her sister did, she yelled for help, running to her sister to offer what little comfort she could, she held her. Still, she would never forget the look of pain and fear in sister's eyes that day. Like her eighth birthday, it appeared her eighteenth year would haunt her for the rest of her life.

While her sister came out alright as healers were called quickly enough, that event drove a wedge into their relationship and so what closeness that had remained slowly dwindled. As the years passed and Ayame's fear drove her to refuse the teachings of the clan elders, she found that seemed to avoid her and the others more. Occasionally she would catch Kazue staring in her direction with a bitter look about her.

Even as the two grew up and Ayame earned a place on the barrier corps like many of her ancestors and peers, this loss of companionship saddened the woman. Then, on her twentieth year during the winter season, Kazue, and their father depart for a mission outside the village. Kazue does not return, and Ayame falls into a depression, thinking her sister dead. A year passes and just when Ayame is getting her life back on track she receives a mysterious letter. In a stroke of luck, it is from her sister, telling her that she's alive. Relieved, she cries, the emotion and shock overwhelming her.

Still, it is not until a year and a seven months later that she sees Kazue again. Yet, as all things do, she has changed. Unsure of where they stand after what transpired all those years ago, Ayame is hesitant around Kazue, who has changed her name to Ai. For the last five months she has been doing her utmost to rekindle the friendship and faint rivalry that they once had as young girls.

Personality: Ayame is a wounded soul. She is full of grief and a measure of pain due to both her own choices and those of her clan. As a result she is a caring and compassionate woman who believes in freedom of choice, the inherent value of life, and the weight of one's actions. Ironically, despite the teachings of her clan and her own status as a shinobi of Iwagakure, Ayame is essentially a pacifist. The woman is always looking for new ways to end disputes or conflict non-violently, and should she fail she does her best to protect those innocent and guilty from harm. In this way, at least, she certainly lives up to her family name, serving as a guardian to the weak. Undercutting all of this is a deeply ingrained fear of her own potential, a fear that should she ever be violent that she will harm those she seeks only to protect. However, buried deeper still is the hardy resilience of a survivor. Perhaps one day it will be unearthed.

Description: A series of chakra conductive rods that she keeps all along the inside of her short cloak, the Sekisao are items that can be utilized to empower or create barriers. She can use these rods as origin points for her barriers or to empower existing ones. The rods can be considered an heirloom of her clan and have been repeatedly infused with chakra every generation, making them nigh indestructible. Additionally, using chakra, a user attuned to the Sekisao can alter their curvature or lackthereof without compromising their durability. Weakness: Due to the range, the technique has a lag time of five seconds between the three handsigns and its initial formation. Ayame will not use this technique unless cornered or someone else's life/wellbeing is threatened and there is no other way for her to prevent their harm.

Description: Performing the necessary handseals, the user positions their hands on one side of their body, low, forming a series of complex, elongated barriers between their hands. Once formed, the user may swipe one or both hands multiple times, releasing sharp, and curved claw-like barriers forwards at high speed. The chakra of these barriers is serrated and rotates along the edges, essentially turning them into claw shaped chainsaws. If any of these barriers land solid strikes they can pierce and then shred flesh or other material. The mastered version of this technique allows the user to form these rapidly around their body and release them with deadly precision. Conversely a master might use these like claws, extending off of their hands, arms, or feet during melee combat. Ayame has not mastered this technique.
