I was thinking while we're waiting, why don't we kind of do one of those first impression/ opinion exercises that your character would have about the group? That or do some OOC prologue posts to establish our characters at some point so we get a feel for them and their previous adventures?

I believe you shall find time for that in your first posts. You folks will be starting off around a campfire. Collabs are also possible, and I myself would encourage small-talk.

And we're live! Go and mingle. Like Peik said, collabs are a good idea to get some naturally-flowing conversation done, but a word of advice; keep the collabs no bigger than 3 people.

Brilliant first post!

I've never written a collab before, so for my own first post I'll do it solo but if anyone would like to collab with me for their own I'm open to it, you'll just have to walk me through the process.

I'd be happy to write a collab with someone tonight when I have a chance to sit down and do some proper writing, Skall will probably be in the process of 'fortifying his stamina' and regaling the party with some of his 'epic' feats of heroism.

I would like to write a collab with you - I think our characters would bounce off each other pretty well! What do you think? I've just never done one, so you'll have to be patient haha.

I had thought Lord Vensor and Raelynn would have found some common ground with how they both come from wealthy background, though Vensor is currently rather far from that. But I don't think he'd mix into your conversation with Skall particularly well, so my first post might well be a solo endeavour. A grumpy old man by thethe fireside, what's not to like?

I feel like she will find solidarity with you, being aligned to the Stormcloaks. She never took a side really but cleaned up a lot of poor soldiers from that side, so carries trauma from it. If anyone can get Raelynn to soften up a bit it would be Vensor I think.

She's not going to call him Lord though haha!

Well Skall was a Stormcloak for a season, I suppose they have that in common.

Hm, those points are fair. Maybe we could arrange a three man collab, no? But let's give time for the others to chime in about their preferences too, lest we force them to group up in a way they'd rather not.

And when it comes to not calling him Lord, that may pass. But call him Cyrus and you've made him mad. He makes that clear when he introduces himself to people.

At this junture, Sora's mostly going to be making mental observations about her companions and their current predicament. She's not likely to initiate small talk at this point, but she'd be happy to chat if someone approached her, or she'd take an interest in Skall's storytelling.

Mostly she's just antsy about getting to work because the tomb is right there. So distractions would probably be welcome.

This almost scared me for a minute there when I logged on today.

On the nature of collabs, I don’t like them. I prefer to post solo posts and work off others – I understand that’s not really popular but it’s also the way I’ve been RPing for a the greater part of nearly two decades. I had never run into the concept until I became a member of RPG. That said, I will have to figure out how Sjara is going to act in this campfire scene regardless if I get talked into a collaboration or not.

Yeah, could just write solo posts and incorporate the discussion into those too, should work. I'm fine with whatever people see as the correct option for them.

Collaborations in my experience have just boxed people out of interaction, so that's another factor to consider.

I may just write solo, and an inner monologue of her thoughts, maybe I'll interact with yourself and Kassarock's character too - so I might swing my thoughts for that into your PM! :) Just so I don't write something completely wrong for your characters :D

I understand your point. I myself think that collabs can kind of cut off the 'flow' of the writing, certain things repeat themselves as well since, obviously, it's being written by multiple people rather than just a person. But I also think it can create organic dialogue when done properly.

I don't know whether if solo posts aren't popular or not. I think that they are mostly the majority. I got used to collabs in another RP that I'm participating in because of the sheer amount of characters in any one given time - it helps streamline dialogue and action, and you can have multiple actions and reactions in one post be it combat or conversation, rather than having posts end with cliffhangers constantly.

I find that collaborations are only consistent (and readable) when they are told from a singular point-of-view rather than spinballing off several.

I find collabs make conversations amongst characters way more natural and less awkward, since otherwise you end up having stilted monologing back and forward with some forced observations and reflection to make the post length acceptable.

You and I have not seen the same collabs then.

My friend Applo and I write quite a few collabs together for other rps. Basically we put down what we want and then look over to see for repetitions, grammar, typos, as well as the flow so it reads like a story, sometimes breaking our own paragraphs to add in reactions or dialogue where it seems natural.

I personally find it better than solo posts at certain times because otherwise it seems repetitive when someone is simply reiterating what another person may have already posted.

^_^' Sorry if it seems like I'm butting in! Just thought I'd add something seeing I only recently started writing collabs this year.
