Going off topic from the rants, vents, and head banging... how do some of these RPs generate 40+ members with massive IC counts?

40 members. I'm lucky if I get three people interested.

This discussion has been had like 20x now and every time said people come and say their RP is more complicated than it looks.

We're better off rolling our eyes and nodding at this point. Let the kids have their playground.

GM's call, there has never been an enforcement mechanism for this and there probably won't be. The sections have guidelines, people tend to self-sort themselves into the section they feel is the best fit. This came up several years ago. So there is no mechanism for forcing RP's into sections, keeping in with mahz's philosophy of minimal intervention and the Guild's overall philosophy of GM self-government of RP's.

It has been said to death by now but I can't feel like not repeating it: I'm fucking sick of people leaving the roleplay without saying so. Or taking a leave of absence and then proceed to ignore the roleplay and make another one of their own when they get back, especially when the roleplay in question is flagging activity wise.

The number of people in 1x1s who demand smut for dumb reasons is too damn high!

What am I supposed to do with this?

Well I'm sick of being left hanging in the planning phase of a rp twice. And to vancexentan's point about people leaving the roleplay without saying so or taking a leave of absence and then proceed to ignore the roleplay that was started. And no one being interested in another's idea.

People seem to have a legitimate lack of pineapple integration in their roleplay concepts. Come on. Who doesn't like pineapple.

The answer to that more often than not is not that which you desire it to be. I've had plenty of people stick to it for reasons I would consider moronic.

People thinking that collabing means that each person writes a full out post between handing it over to the next person.



Collabs are supposed to be a a collaborative endeavour, in other words working together, combining more than just a bunch of posts together. I see it all the time, people trying to put as much into their ~reply~ for that portion only to leave the other person having to back track, no chance to realistically respond to an action or what someone says. Hell I would love to see a character actually cut off mid sentence because they were spouting off and the other character said "Aww hell naw!"

Seriously, if your character is rolling their eyes, slamming a door, or asking a question - STOP AT THAT POINT AND HAND IT OVER! Collabs should be free flowing, not blocky! Sometimes you only need a sentence to send back to your collab partner, not 2 paragraphs. Not only do things move quicker to get the over all job done if you give people a chance to realistically reply but it makes for a lot better read.

...The collab thing? I used to be a GM of a casual RP and I encouraged that stuff with having spectator characters in the collabs.

Well your one of the few. Either way I do find it difficult to just send back a sentence or two. Anyway back to bitching I really hate GMs who don't post their rules anywhere or post 1x1s in any other area other then 1x1s.

The fact that some GMs think they are all powerful and can do anything they want when they feel like it in an RP. I understand some people like to take their roleplays seriously and such and all that, but if someone criticizes the way you are handling things... and the GM seemingly nerfs your character or gets your character to have something horrible happen to them, because of 'plot', the very next day. It tends ro grind my gears til sparks are flying.
