Skills:
  • Combat Trained: Having been an Intelligence Officer in the CIS, he is profficient in short/mid range combat and hand to hand.
  • Intelligence Gathering: It was his living for the CIS, and even now in CIS his living demands his knowing things. His organisation was built by him from the ground up, and he has an extensive network of agents throughout Hutt Space and even some beyond.
  • Politics: He's a seasoned veteran at navigating deals and working with conflicting parties. Allowing his base of operations to become a neutral zone.
  • Charismatic: Links to politics, however he's generally a well liked and respected individual. He is a smooth talker who has a way of putting people at ease.
  • Psychological Student: Before he went on to become an Intelligence Officer he studied at Reena University and left with a degree in forensic psychology.

Weaknesses:
  • Age: With age comes experience, though in potentially hostile and combat ridden environments the body slowing down and aching isn't a good thing. While he's still a good shot, his eyesight is worse, reaction times slower and he's not as agile as he used to be.
  • Well Known: He's one of those figures that stands out in a crowd, not due to his actual appearance but simply because in the criminal underworld his is a household name.
  • Lack of power: As the leader of an organisation in Hutt Space his currency is information, and money, there are many organisations that may even not be as well known as his with substantially more combat capability. Meaning he relies heavily on deals in order to stay alive.
  • Untrusted: No-one in the criminal world trusts anyone else, least of all someone who deals in other peoples secrets.

History:




Childhood

Koren was born in a time before the Clone Wars in the Outer-rim. Like many worlds during this time period his was one that was growing increasingly agitated at the Republics continual 'core world first' policies. Where everything seemed to be about the importance of the Core, and as such tensions on Raxus grew they shaped Koren into who he would become in later years. That said he always had a knack for finding out things, people told him their secrets and confided in him. As he grew up he honed his skills at reading people, though he didn't know it yet he was studying their body language and their tone of voice. He was picking up on cues to how they were feeling without even knowing it.

His parents, being Law Enforcement agents always wanted a similar line for career for their Son. He never really cared for the idea of helping people however, and was in fact far more manipulative. He only cared about how other people thought in order to further his own agenda, at fifteen he blackmailed another individual for the first time. A fellow student at the private school he went too, a rival from from another high ranking family who was seeing someone from a poorer district. The rival pretty quickly fell in line to what Koren wanted him to do for fear of reprecussions if his family ever found out he fell in love with a commoner. Towards the end of school he decided to study away, a course that would both benefit his ability to understand and manipulate people and keep his parents happy. So he was off to Reena.




Secession

Shortly after he completed his studies the seccession crisis happened, as systems splintered away from the Galactic Republic finally fed up of their mistreatment, and the corruption in the senate. Raxus was one of these planets and the Separtatist Alliance was formed. While not officially recognised by the Galactic Republic, nevertheless it started the formation of it's own Parliamentary Assembly, Military and Intelligence Agencies. Seeing an opportunity not presented to him before hand Koren joined the newly formed Separatist Intelligence Agency. He was trained in methods of combat, infiltration, subtrefuge, information gathering and torture. Like many agents he was sent to other outer rim and mid rim worlds ahead of a representative of the Separatist Alliance in order to gather information on the local feelings towards the Republic, and if necessary help emphasis the feelings of discontent towards the Senate on Coruscant. Koren and agents like him helped to fuel the growth of the Alliance in its early days before the onset of the Clone Wars.




Clone Wars

The Clone Wars were a turbulant time, Information was almost as important as ships and soldiers in the battlefield. Misinformation could cause the loss of a strategic planet while the perfect secret could be the key to victory in battle. Koren expanded his arsenal during this time, while many intelligence operatives preferred to rely on droids due to their reliability Koren placed himself in the middle of politics. Organic contacts were his currency, Senators Aides, Janitors in military complexes, waiters in officer clubs and clubs frequented by clones. He became well known in the Intelligence Community both on the side of the Republic and the Confederacy for someone who used anything at his disposal, crossing lines that others may not necessarily cross.

Blackmail, torture, coerscion, scandals. He placed people where he wanted them to be, and if they crossed him he would remove them from power just as fast as he had put them there. As the fire that was the Clone Wars burned he gained more renown, more power in the Intelligence Community. He gained rank, respect and power. All that was taken away by the death of Dooku. As Dooku perished and the war made a swift turn around, from a faulty attempt at capturing the Chancellor of the Republic which he felt was foolish, General Grevious took control of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Many systems loyalty began to falter and fade as they doubted Grevious' ability to lead the Separatists to victory, and true to a fault the war moved from stalemate to the Separatists loosing ground.

It wasn't long until a shut down order disabled all the droids in the Separatist military, the Galactic Empire stepped in and peace was brought to the Galaxy. Knowing there was no place for him in the newly announced Galactic Empire, and that the Separatist holdouts could not last forever Koren managed to reactivate a T-Series Tactical droid about the Providence-class Destroyer Vanguard. Inserting new protocols into the droid he took control of the ship and fled towards Hutt space.




Hutt Space

Piracy would have been the obvious solution to gaining power quickly and efficiently. Though he knew better than to do that, while he had droids work on the interior and exterior of the Vanguard now named Paradise he left the ship in an uncharted system and went out into Hutt Space to work on gaining contacts. While initially it was slow going, so many intelligence networks already existed within Hutt space. With competitors at eachothers throats almost constantly he eventually got a substantial number of Organic and Mechanical contacts throughout the sector. Then the hardest part came.

He waited. For two years he gathered information, while some of it had to be acted upon quickly he didn't rush into things. He knew enough about the Hutt Cartel to know that if he sought power, and to thrive he needed to be patient and make sure he had enough influence to dissuade anyone of simply trying to capture or kill him. Then two years after the formatin of the Empire he appeared in Paradise above the trader world of Ilos Minor. The ship transformed from a warship into a vertiable resort, complete with luxury suites and casino rooms. A cruise ship for the most elite of the criminal underworld, a neutral zone to conduct business free of scrutiny.

Since then he has struck deals with many of the important players within Hutt space to allow Paradise to be a neutral zone, with weapons not permitted outside of the hangar. Security is tight, fighting is taken very seriously and most of the patrons know not to break the rules when in Paradise. As the Galactic Civil War turned from a spark into a raging fire the Rebellion discovered Korens past and tried to approach him in order to get him on their side during the conflict, though he saw little value in it for him. He never really held true to the beliefs of the Confederacy just as a means to an end. It was during this formation that he met his future bodyguard Ballick, who when they first met was beating up a drunk dug with a gambling problem for crossing him. While initially the partnership was difficult for Koren, he has come to know Ballick as the closest thing he has ever had to a friend.




Out with the Old

AS the Emperor fell, Jabba fell and the New Republic rose things took a drastic turn within Hutt Space. The Hutt Council, designed to prevent infighting between Hutts faltered and failed. With Boonatta taking control Koren was quick to pay homage, offering her a week in the royal suite aboard Paradise free of charge. Her every need, and desire, catered for. After all she rose quickly to power, and reshaped the Hutt Council as it had been for centuries into her own court with her sitting firmly on top of the pyramid. Though he was sure to pay homage to the Imperial Moffs in Hutt Space, not that they had ever been incorrupt or in any real position of power other than as a figurehead between the dealings between the Empire and the Hutts. Though they had become an unpredictable variable, as while they had been content with their life of luxury and no rebel activity in Hutt Space with the fall of the Emperor and the disintigration of the Empire with lack of a leader there was the risk of them lashing out like caged animals.

He has also been taken into account the presence of a New Republic Task Force near the border of Hutt Space. Times are changing, though he isn't worried. Power changing hands is good for business, as people tear eachother apart they are always in need of information.

Faction Assets:
  • Paradise, a Providence Class Destroyer which has had its interior redesigned in order to mirror a luxury resort. There are casinos, clubs, pubs, hotels, restaruants, spas and basically everything anyone could want. Catering to the low class workers to the Lords and Ladys of Hutt Space. There's something for everyone aboard.
  • Informants: Koren has spent a number of years gathering informants and placing people in key positions. The exact number isn't entirely known, but he has his finger in about every pie Hutt space has to offer.
  • Droid Power: Aboard Paradise he has a full contingent of droids, many are inactive however BX-Commando droids stand in doorways and patrol ensuring clients are well taken care off, and no flights erupt. While many old B1-battle droids have been repurposed into waiters and bartenders, being painted, dressed up and decorated depending on where they are and the clientele they interact with.
  • Ship Defense: While he has sold off all the old Droid Vehicles to private collectors, he has retained the Gunships, Vulture and Tri-Fighters to act as a deterrent against possible attack.
  • Nightfury: The Nightfury is a specially retrofit Consular Class Cruiser (Charger retrofit) that has it's interior redesigned as a Luxury Yacht. It is the vessel used to pick up and drop off any important clients, who wish to board Paradise even if it is in another system.

Faction History:

19BBY - Clone Wars End. Koren Graeff reactivates a T-Series Tactical Droid (Later named Thinker) and flees to Hutt space with the Vanguard.
17BBY - Having Spent two years building contacts, Koren unvails the newly renamed Paradise formerly the Vanguard and begins taking clients aboard. He begins selling information to the Hutts. He also finds an abandoned baby aboard Paradise and in a moment unlike him, decides to raise her as a daughter.
16BBY - Paradise is recognised as a Neutral Zone, Koren frees a Twi'lek Slave 'Tara' and hires her to look after the needs of high end clients. Tram first fufills contract for Koren, upon a Bounty Hunter who smuggles weapons aboard Paradise to fufill a contract.
15BBY - Koren comes across the Shistaven Ballick and hires him as his personal body guard.
14BBY - Former Pirate Lord Xandu flees to Paradise as a neutral zone to seek refuge after his crew mutinies against him.
13BBY - Tired of being stone walled, Xandus former crew attack Paradise. Koren uses the resources at his disposal, and contacts to repel the attacks. He pushes Xandu out the airlock for bringing conflict to Paradise.
10BBY - Fledgling Rebellion groups reach out to the Golden Exchange for information/assistance. Koren refuses.
5BBY - Loretta begins to take part in day to day operations of the Golden Exchange. Local Imperials begin using Paradise for R&R and Information.

0BBY - Destruction of Alderaan and then the Death Star (Death of Tarkin) shakes the Galaxy. Chaos erupts. Alderaanians are hunted down by the Empire, some seek refuge in Hutt Space and on Paradise. They become some of the few organic employees working in the higher class lounges and bars.
2ABY - Small up and coming band of smugglers attempt hiest aboard Paradise. Security measures are improved.
3ABY - As the War Continues outside, Koren starts gaining informants outside of Hutt Space.
4ABY - Jabba the Hutt dies, chaos erupts in Hutt Space creating a surge in Korens business as various individuals attempt to capatalize on the death of the most powerful Hutt. Emperors Death soon follows and the war takes a new turn as the New Republic forms. Koren gives a special tour to the new 'Queen Hutt' Boonatta, gives special treatment to Imperials left within Hutt Space in the hope that he can gain assets to expand his enterprise in time. Learns of New Republic task force sitting outside of Hutt Space.

Stands at 2.15 meters, and at a weight of 355 kg.

Equipment: Like most Ssi-ruu, Sirka wears only bandoliers across her chest to carry her belongings, along with whatever holsters she needs. Her primary weapon is a heavy repeating blaster rifle, attached to a power pack on her back. As a sidearm, she carries an E-11 blaster rifle, and a one-handed variant of a vibro-ax as a backup weapon. She carries a bandolier with a small number of stun grenades, and usually a single thermal detonator.
Skills (and abilities)

  • Close to medium range combat specialist
  • Strength equivalent to an adult wookiee
  • Thick, blaster resistant hide
  • Very keen sense of smell (able to detect changes in the emotional state of species with which she is familiar)
  • Triple eyelids resist sudden bursts of light
  • Growing knowledge of grenades and explosive devices
  • Surprising speed and grace for a creature of her size, when not encumbered by equipment

History: Destiny is not a concept in which Sirka believes, but it can certainly be said that fortune has both blessed and cursed Sirka to great degrees throughout her life, starting even before she could form memories. It started with a group of Trandoshan hunters exploring unknown areas of the outer rim for new and challenging game to hunt. Though their expedition was not terribly successful and ended with quite a few casualties on their side, Sirka’s egg was one of the trophies taken. She might have been raised as an oddity or slave among them, but her fortune turned when the Trandoshans ran afoul of a Jedi investigating pirates in the area. Being a member of an unknown species, it was only due to the Jedi’s acute observations and senses that she was identified as a sentient creature at all.

Devoid of any connection to the force, the young reptilian was, unfortunately, unable to remain at the temple. Once the Jedi made that determination, they did at least assist in finding her a home. After some consideration and searching, she ended up in the care of a trusted Togruta couple on Coruscant, as they were merchants who did regular business with the Jedi Order. They were a reasonably wealthy couple who wanted to give a good life to their new daughter, whom they named Sirka, but once more, fortune’s pendulum swung in the other direction for her. The rise of the Empire destroyed the life that her parents had established. They avoided being caught in the initial transition, but their former association with the Jedi Order caused them to flee Imperial space out of fear for their lives.

While they were able to flee with some of their assets, Sirka’s family ultimately lost most of the wealth they had. They, like many others, ended up as poor refugees on Nar Shaddaa. What was more, Sirka’s mother had already been pregnant with another child before they fled, so they had two daughters to support.

After some time, Sirka ended up growing much larger, and much more quickly than her parents could have expected. And that, of course, came with more expensive requirements for her care. Sirka grew up in cramped, often unsanitary conditions, with nothing in the form of luxuries simply because her parents wanted to make sure that their children did not go hungry. Even then, they had to sacrifice their own meals from time to time. In as lawless and unforgiving of a place as the Smugglers’ Moon was, it would have been simple for them to abandon Sirka, but they pressed on through her formative years, even when that meant resorting to more unsavory methods of supporting their family. Fortunately, their dedication was rewarded once Sirka was grown.

Given Sirka's species, she matured more quickly than a Togruta, and that growth had shaped her into an over-2-meter-tall, 350 kilogram beast of a reptilian. There was no form of formal school system in their part of Nar Shaddaa, so her parents had attempted to teach her whatever skills and knowledge they could to the best of their ability, but ultimately, her physical attributes were more suited to more dangerous work. She started off as a bodyguard that, through mere intimidation factor, rarely had to fight anyone, but she was drawn into other kinds of better paying mercenary work over time. She acquired her first blaster on the same day that she learned her scales were, in fact, resistant to blaster fire, and taught herself to shoot from there. Physical limitations with her eyesight prevented her from becoming too great of a marksman, but her circumstances and abilities forged her into a talented mercenary. At her sister’s insistence, Sirka has attempted to avoid falling into the trap of relying on her unique natural traits and has tried to keep improving herself, at least as far as it will help her work. In particular, she worked on how to use and understand grenades and other explosive devices. All the while, she used her growing income not only to support, but start improving the lives of her family.

Pleasantly for Sirka, she was able to help move her parents to a better part of Nar Shaddaa: a place that was reasonably safe, by the moon’s standards. After all of the sacrifices they made for her, she found herself dedicated to repaying them. She has become fairly successful as a freelance mercenary and has gone into business with her sister, Delni Rhiko. While Delni does not join in fighting, she does have a knack for business and helps her sister to find opportunities, and to make the best use of the funds they have. Although, Sirka still hopes to move even farther up the galaxy’s economic ladder to provide an even better lifestyle for herself and her family.
