Twenty years ago, Lord Atoran Yeln used his wealth and cult of personality to convert his home city, based on the floating island nation of Kyn, into a fortress from which he could terrorize countries into submitting via the extensive weaponry held within. It worked, and the Empire slowly expanded. People within its bounds were held to a strict code introduced by Yeln, but provided they did so enjoyed a relatively high standard of living... for a time.

During its existence, the Yeln Empire offered what it claimed to be stability via a strict code introduced by Emperor Atoran Yeln himself. However, this code was in fact created to introduce a situation in which any behavior Emperor Yeln did not approve of was punished harshly. In addition, Yeln did not see the inhabitants of Crinitia as people, and upon conquering the country proceeded along a policy of treating them as slave labor and conscripts.

Those who dissented against Yeln's tyranny were executed if they were discovered, and those who attempted to aid Crinitians were tortured before facing execution. Still, there were some who managed to successfully defect from the Yeln Empire, which was one of many causes for the impending war.

In the final assault on Kyn Fortress, Emperor Atoran Yeln was killed when his body was cut to pieces by Dame Angelese Tirese and her Arch-Lancer squad. Kyn Fortress was destroyed as it crashed into the sea.

That was a year and a half ago.

Now, Crinitria has struggled to rebuild, the beastkin that call it home often viewed as remnants of the Yeln Empire. The people of Laake, a country instrumental in Yeln's downfall, is now filled with saboteurs who no longer have a purpose. The War against the Yeln Empire took its tool, even though Yeln fell.

And now, a strange girl with an enormous rifle is seeking to travel across the lands, seeking something mysterious...

So this is going to be an RP with a maximum of ten players(counting myself). This will be a group of four accompanying said strange girl, and a group of five acting as player antagonists.

The players accompanying the "strange girl" will be people she has hired(near the beginning of the RP) to escort her. Anyone how would accept such a job is acceptable.

The antagonists will be agents of a new government agency of the relatively distant country of Tinnec, founded to help rebuild after the war and hunt remnants of the Yeln Empire. They might not be all the seem, however...

Laake: A country on the border of the former Yeln empire, Laake is known for its fusion of various architecture styles, and its production of a variety of different foods. Fiercely independent, Laake refused to submit to Atoran Yeln's conquest-based desires. This rejection of the Yeln Empire is indeed one of many catalysts that lead to the war that destroyed it.

Laake boasts a strong military history in spite of its small size, possessing an elite special forces unit created with the purpose of infiltration and sabotage. Individuals are trained for a long period before deployment, allowing them to exhibit a high degree of skill in stealth, combat, and the elimination of targets.

Laake is ruled by a constitutional monarchy, boasting a popular ruler.

Crinitia: Crinitia is a small country, and considered the homeland of the Crinitians - or animalpeople. For several centuries, it was an independent nation noted for exporting rare fruits, and being a tough place to live for humans, due to colder climates and relatively few settlements. While not a poor country, many native Crinitians choose to leave the country for less harsh living conditions - those that remain are typically suited for hunting and fighting.

However, this land was unfortunate enough to be one of the Empire's first territories to envelope. Faced with its' far superior technology and overwhelming presence, the Crinitians were forced to choose between annihilation and subjugation. While the Empire was active, the natives were treated as slave labour or conscripted soldiers; gender and age were of little importance to the Empire, who considered the Crinitians as little more than animals.

Because of the Yeln Empire's policies regarding their people, Crinitians had become a common-enough sight in their ranks, that many people today still see them as remnants of the fallen Empire, and as such, are often treated with distrust, or even outright hostility. Many people, even citizens amongst the former empire, were unaware of how cruelly treated the Crinitians were. Many believed them to be willing participants, when in truth, they were little more than cannon fodder for the empire, meant to soak up the bullets and blades of the enemy for the real forces.

Though the Empire has fallen, the country is still rocked with poverty and crime, no longer a peaceful place to live.

Tinnec: A more distant country, Tinnec was still instrumental in the defeat of the Yeln Empire, deploying its elite Lancer teams to ultimately slay Emperor Yeln himself. A militaristic monarchy, nevertheless it seems rather eager to spring to the aid of other countries and assist in rebuilding after the long war against the Yeln Empire.

Magic and Magitech Employed in some weapons and all airships, technology employing magic is not everpresent, but definitely not unheard of either. Most often it is used in air-based vehicles and some weapons. Magic is also possible to use on its own, providing a variety of effects. Technological advancements are wide and varied, such as the technology that allows floating islands to be converted into vehicles(the largest of which being the capital of the Yeln Empire) and even genetic engineering and the creation of extremely human-like robots.

Name: Kell Hollander
Age: 47
Gender: Male
Race: Undead
Appearance:

Personality:
Kell can be a little bit dry to start. It could be said that any sense of humor or warmth of personality died with him. Outwardly he has a wicked tempter but deep down might linger some small spark of his former camaraderie. Kell was once that charismatic leader that inspired stories as mush as they inspired those that followed them. He was brave, ambitious and compassionate. Every man under him was like family.

Skills:
Kell is and always has been a brutal melee fighter. He has never bothered with artful one hit kills but instead is content with taking any small opening to inflict even a small amount of damage. He is more reckless now, risking his own body for these chances.

Abilities:
Once, in his prime, metals flowed like water under his touch. Blades he wielded were keener than a surgeons scalpel, he could walk seamlessly through steel barricades and bullets splashed off of him like rain. The curse of being undead has robbed him of some of that supreme control. The metal he shapes comes out lumpy and uneven. Things take longer than they used to and he lacks the ability to add fine details.

Now he is undead, a walking corpse with his mind intact. In exchange for robbing a portion of his power the curse lets him recover slowly from damage as well as ordinary wear and tear. Without having to worry about damage to his own body he can move faster and hit harder than before without tiring.

Equipment:
Mishapen Blades - A pair of swords and a long knife made entirely from steel. They posess an absurd weight but are otherwise ordinary in every way.

Brief History:
From the start of Atoran Yelns tyranny Kell had been a fighter putting his every effort against it. Before then he was simply an ambitious young man waiting for a cause. When it came he threw every ounce of effort into it, soon becomming a vaunted leader. At the height of the empire he fled to Laake, cross training with their elite forces to give both he and them an edge in the war.

As was maybe inevitable, one of his daring missions failed with the loss of every person involved. It was a trap of course, a target cunningly set to be too appealing to pass up. He was captured, identified as a former citizen and dissenter, and sentenced to be executed. His eventual fate was worse.

Kell was put under the purview of the necromancer Valence Dane. Through he power he was tortured and held on the brink of death. The Yeln army began to call him 'Scarecrow', after the days he spent hanging crucified, taken down and healed before being out up again. After an eternity he was allowed to die, but for just a moment. The former fighter was brought back as an undead weapon under the thrall of the necromancer. Kell fought against his former allies up until the very end of the war.

During the final battle he was separated from he side during a massive exchange of destructive power. Kell fell into a catatonic state, was gathered up as just another casualty of battle, and interred in a mass grave with the rest of the empires dead. Months later he clawed his way to the surface, moving under his own will for the first time in years. Now he has only thoughts of revenge on his mind.

@Jinxlynx: Five confirmed players so far. There's another person who hasn't posted that I'm anticipating joining Koyuri's group. ^^;

@VitaVitaAR

Have all the ally spots been taken yet? I know I said I was going to be a villain, but after I saw Koyuri's picture I can no longer stand the thought of being mean to someone so absolutely adorable.

@rush99999: If I'm not mistaken there's at least two more open. I've honestly considered expanding it to five in total and having Koyuri be the eleventh. She's pretty much useless in regular combat anyway so it's not like she'd tip the scales unless at range.

I've looked over this quite a lot.

It seem to be very nice. I'm in need of a proper fantasy RP for several months. If I can get an idea before the slots are filled, I'll drop a character here. No need to keep any reserves for me, though.

No-one has claimed an antagonist slot so far. Though I will say that "Team Evil" isn't necessarily the best way to think of them.

Here's mine.

  • Name: Gear Heart
  • Age: 682
  • Gender: None (Referred to with male pronouns)
  • Race: Iron Golem
  • Appearance: Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick
  • Personality: Golems have very little in the way of personality and Gear Heart is no exception, especially after being deactivated for the better part of 2 centuries. However, there still exists something within him that could be referred to as such. Upon reactivating, Gear Heart now sees Koyuri as his mistress and serves her with complete loyalty. He will obey any command given by Koyuri so long as it doesn't put her in danger. He's also has a tendency to hand out poppies that grow on his body.
  • Skills: Despite being unable to speak, Gear Heart can understand all known written and spoken languages.
  • Abilities: As an iron golem, Gear Heart possesses great strength, is able to withstand incredible amounts of physical damage, and can absorb magical attacks to use that magic to power and repair himself. On top of this, he also has a 6th sense that lets him know where Koyuri is, if she's in danger, and allows him to receive orders from her even if she's out of earshot. Gear Heart also has some control over the plants that grow on his body. And despite his size, Gear Heart can move with surprising speed when necessary.
  • Equipment: A built in music box, some of its gears are exposed by the heart shaped hole in its chest.
  • Brief History: Long ago, when magic and technology were combined for the 1st time, the iron golems would always be the 1st thing to spring to mind when magitech was mentioned. These hulking metal constructs were highly sought after due to their unwavering loyalty and their obvious superiority to their clay predecessors. Gear Heart was 1 such golem. Who he served and what he did for a time after he was created isn't important anymore. What is important is that 2 hundred years ago, Gear Heart wound up in the middle of a large forest in a deactivated state which he remained in for around 200 years, during which iron golems fell out of both use and memory.

It was this very same forest that Koyuri passed through during her travels. The large trees limited the amount of light that entered the forest, giving it a rather spooky atmosphere and made it somewhat difficult to see. It was then that Koyuri bumped into Gear Heart in his deactivated state. Panicked by this sudden encounter, Koyuri fired upon Gear Heart with a powerful shot from her rifle. The shot leveled the surrounding trees, allowing Koyuri to see Gear Heart. Despite being hit by such a powerful attack, Gear Heart didn't have a scratch on him. Having absorbed the magic from Koyuri's attack, Gear Heart reactivated, designated Koyuri as his mistress, and promptly offered her a poppy. They have been traveling together ever since.

Age: 21

Gender:
Female

Race:
"Beast Amalgamation" Nimb is a sort of experiment of magic, beast, and man. She has the general appearance of an Elf like humanoid but with blonde hair on her ears and with and a short, fluffy tail and claws on her fingers as well as toes.

Personality:
Nimb is a cold, unkind, curious, and explosive kind of person. She is slow to trusting people due to previous encounters, though she's never realy around long anyway.

Skills:
Beastly Strength
Nimb has unrealistic brute strength and incredible speed that seems unnatural due to her small frame and inocent appearance. She uses her strength to swiftly and quickly destroy her opponents.

stealth approach
Due to her animalistic nature, she is anatural at stealth and remaining undetected, especially in darkness.

Savege Skill
Her ability to fluently and savagely use her body to strike hard and fast is unmatched by any she has fought, sometimes encoroerating her sharp dagger-like teeth while fighting. Her largely athletic and acrobatic way of fighting makes her very hard to strike even to the fastest of attackers.

Abilities:
Blink
Nimb can blink back to a previous place she was in in the past ten seconds, but she needs to wait another ten seconds or longer until she can blink back again.

Gravitational Irrelevancy
Nimb doesn't seem to be restricted to one direction of gravity and can transition seamlessly between different directions.

Momentum Boost
Due to Nimb's ability to Chanel gravity, she controls the gravity oround her striking limbs to hit harder and be very hard to stop once moving.

Defensive Strike
Nimb has a magical force within her body that reinforces the current limb that she is either attacking with or defending with that, making it nearly impossible to cut through or break.

Equipment:
Nimb wears a really soft coat over gauze like strips of cloth on her chest, hands, and feet. wearing armor and gauntlets on her arms and hands as well as grieves covering her legs and wears not shoes.

Brief History:
Nimb was created in a way she doesn't quite understand. Her first memories were of a bloody room when she assumed she was 13 years of age. She remembered the walls were made of thick metal, dents and smashed objects scattered everywhere. She remembers hearing a voice in her head that told her to smash the small metal door and escape. The voice told her over and over until she punched the door many times until it finally busted open and killed her captives.

In the time that she was on her own she met a few people and made some aquantences, She stumbled upon a group of training Laake warriors. A patrol party at the time caught her and tried to apprehend her. After witnessing her combat prowes they offered her to train with them and hoped they could be allies. Nimb trained with the Laake warriors for a good amount of years before setting out with a last goodbye to go and try to make something of her self. In her journey she learned that the world only had room for hired swords and thievery.

In her sleep she was captured by slavers and placed into shackles before clamping a tag into one of her ears. After awakening whilst in capture, her and another slave staged an escape before the slavers reached their destination. Lesley actually punched her way out of there cage and freed herself and the other prisoner, however on the way to freedom the other slave had been killed by an arrow and only she had escaped. Now she lives the life of mercenary, keeping the tag in her ear to remind her that people can't be trusted.

@rush99999: I do question the wisdom of doing a mute character(hard to pull off and all), but my one real issue is, um, Koyuri starts alone and meets everyone within the first few posts of the RP basically.

@RyuShura: Er... Going to be honest, this character is pretty much completely unacceptable. ^^; He doesn't work with the magic system of the RP, he doesn't really work as part of an organization that, both outwardly and perhaps even to most of their members, is meant to help deal with stuff after the war, um... Tinnec is not, at the very least not visibly, attempting conquest.

@Lunar: Have to say the same for this one too, um... For one thing there is already an entire race of animal people so making one of your own that's a genetic experiment isn't really necessary. ^^;

I think you both need to re-read the OP again. This isn't really standard fantasy and while it's not exactly modern there's a lot more technology(airships, some guns[mostly magitech], genetic engineering, floating islands converted into bigger airships, ridiculously human robots, laser cannon armaments in some places)...

Yeah, thats why I was kinda iffy about finishing it. I wanted to try to do something a little abnormal to the setting, something that is 'old' enough to harken back to when magic was a thing. Serve a bit of narrative contrast, you know? And I might've misunderstood the 'hunting' bit. Thought they just wanted cold killers, but now realize they need more stealthy peeps. Anyway, its my own fault. I just do wild things when I get the pen doodling . No hard feelings.

Okay, well I can give it a go again if you'll allow me. Need to think of another design now though...
