@Genbor

Do you have a plan so we could match the story because we posted late?

@SantosGabriel77

I'd say you'd be either brought in to the prison (where the rest of us are in our respective cells), or you could be brought in separately from the rest of us as a late arrival when we go see the King. I'd wait for @Arkitekt the GM to tell you what you could do though.

In the meantime, perhaps read our posts to catch up and get a sense of what the other characters are like, so when you are brought in, you'll know.

I'll be making a post regarding Justin's response to Harmony and Lautrec shortly.

Probably should have done it sooner but I was expecting posts from others and didn't want to clog the page just yet lol.

Yes @SantosGabriel77 you should go to the cells with the rest of them, just use some npc guards and toss yourself in there somewhere. pick an empty cell from the map and post.. I am waiting on you to go ahead and catch up.. its kind of imperative to the plot that you all be grouped prior to seeing the King..

I will try to get it all together and post as soon as I am free to after you post.

I'm experimenting with how to show thieves' Cant. For now I'm thinking of putting it in a hider in case someone's character doesn't know it, and wishes to not know what Lautrec is saying because of that. If everyone understands it / doesn't mind seeing his meanings I can just get rid of the hider altogether. Let me know!

I like the idea but I can also very much see a group of thieves all knowing thieves' cant. I think I'm going to leave Bark as not knowing the language simply because he isn't much one for exerting unnecessary effort when he can already achieve his needs, though the hider isn't necessary for me if you'd prefer not to have it, as I can work around that myself.

Sounds good. So we can keep track of what we can't do.

I'm also going to leave Y'Vanna out as she isn't from Guillan and hasn't been there long.. I'm sure that thief's cant is known everywhere but I'm almost certain that there would be some differentiation in different locales. She is also not exactly a thief, well I mean she is, but it is somewhat of a new profession to her. I am also very sure that Y'Vanna would like to learn, given the proper time and place.

None the less, I think that is a fantastic idea..

@SantosGabriel77 I suppose there would be all sorts of NPC's who could, but the only problem is that it will be hard for them to find the time. However I did mention that if you try to use a skill a few times ( even if you don't have it as a skillset) and are successful at it, then after a while I will allow it to be added to your character's list, adding one point each time until you progressively get better. I have this in the info somewhere but I believe with no skill points it is a 1d6, but you must get over a 4 for it to be a success, like a 70/30 chance, give or take..

Lets say 5 successes per the first point, up to 3 requires 15, and anything above that requires 20. 5 is pretty much the cap so, I mean if you roll 5 50% chances and cant get a success then its pretty moot past that point. Acquiring skills should be a task to say the least, so if it's something you want to do then you need to be meticulous about keeping up with it. When you roll make sure you specify what it is for and make sure you can provide the proof. You can go above a 5, it just seems to be a bit unnecessary..

Also, I am pretty open to most anything being a skillset, just run it by me first.

@Genbor could I assume that the thieves' cant for your name first and the question Y'Vanna asked would be easy enough for her to figure out? I'm picture a shake of the head and a bit of pointing, but if its a bit more complicated than that I wont assume.. She would be pretty much guessing anyway. But I did imagine it a bit that way in my head. As I said though, anything that would be more difficult to comprehend... wait.. I just had an idea..

As the hider name you could put the difficulty as Easy, Moderate, and difficult.. The easy stuff being simple enough that someone could understand enough to get by, but the more complex stuff would require actually being taught the language. I live with an autistic four year old so I am fairly good at the simple stuff IRL.. but I do see the name first thing being fairly cut and dry. If it isn't let me know.

@Arkitekt

Well the whole point of thieves' cant is for it to require a sort of cypher which you learn, so that not everyone can understand. For example in this instance the word [me] would be something like "a tug on the ear", most people would think it has something to do with listening, at least that's what they'd think of first.

So it's less pointing and shaking heads as a code that is not understandable by anyone without the cheat sheet (basically knowing the language).

I will say though, that Lautrec would attempt the pointing and things like that if he saw that Y'Vanna doesn't understand, as he's trying to get a point across (introduce yourself first), and not a message that is less likely to be understood by prying eyes. So if you want, it is completely fine for her to understand what he wants from her.

EDIT: I do like your suggestion of how easy or difficult it is to understand though.

Easy could be something that is universally understood by thieves who learned the cant, and difficult etc. could be something that is unique to the group that was established within themselves.

@Genbor awesome.. I will have her introduce herself, but doing so just out of formality, as she doesn't understand a lick of what he just did, though it would be the next obvious dialogue choice.. I will make a point of it that she is in fact terribly confused by the dug out coach.. hahah..

@SantosGabriel77 I believe that the flaw modifier is -2, so whatever you roll subtract two from the number, for whatever type roll it may be. Its up in the hiders in the Zero page, but I think that is what it is.

As for a post I should have one up by this afternoon or tonight.. I have a houseful today as it is veteran's day, and my girlfriend called in sick, so I will most likely have my hands full but I will have something by tonight at the latest.. I am very much liking this momentum we have acquired. The next bit of the plot should be good too.

I posted. Once we get @SantosGabriel77 in with the rest we will progress a bit more. Also @The Angry Goat, I am probably going to need Gail's help in understanding Lautrec, if he knows a bit of the lingo. I think it'd be cool if he did, since he is a man of many circles. If not it's cool too, that'd be just as interesting, either way.

But once everyone is together the narrative will continue.
