Prologue

The land of demons, Tsukran, has been in a perpetual state of war with the humans whose various nations surround them. Centuries come and go, and every little moment the tides of war shift; occasionally, humans lead an incursion in hoping to suppress the threat once and for all, while the demons may retake whatever is lost within a few years' time. Periods of ceasefire, too, are not uncommon, though tensions never seem to cease and war always seems to be on the minds of both sides. This perpetual cycle only serves to fuel more conflict, though, and it seems as if neither side will see the other fully vanquished.

Of course, that's just how it seems. The king of Tsukran, an old demon who was the first to rally enough of his kin under his banner, is finally beginning to show signs of fatigue. Under his decree, however, the next king was declared to be chosen by their accomplishments and merits. In hopes of young blood breaking this stalemate, said king hand-picked a group of eight representatives and declared that whoever could bring about the most change in their stalemate with the humans would take the crown. The so-called contest, as it was, would have each candidate sent to a region of Tsukran with those who would follow them and make their preparations for the future. In a few years' time, depending on the outcome of all their plans, plots, and gambits, the king would dictate the new lord of the nation.

Of course, it just so happened that many demons were sick of this endless war, and the whispers of an internal rebellion were only now starting to form. Little did they know, of course, about what was soon to follow.

The World

Tsukran is a nation... So long as you can call a bunch of regional groups and clans rallying under a single flag a 'nation'. The region itself can be divided up into two sections: one behind the two mountain ranges that funnel everything to its center, and the one outside of it. These sections can, in turn, be divided into one of the sixteen sub-regions of the nation. Each region is named after one of the Buddhist hells, and though they might not be as hot or cold as the hells are in our mythos, they do denote a relevant level of threat for their inhabitants and, as of now, their level of difficulty in terms of development.

Each region will be expounded upon in detail as their relevance increases and the RP progresses. Of course, since I plan to start the RP in Avici, the information for that area will be detailed below. More will be added as time goes on, and maybe I'll have a map that isn't a jumble of scratches and sketches to make it easier to visualize then.

Avici: a region located between the southern mountain range and the coast, Avici is one of the farthest away from the capital (Sanjiva) that also happens to be within the confines of the nation. The hostile flora and fauna coupled with a lack of infrastructure make this, essentially, unexplored territory. Not like the demons have time to explore it, anyways; they've got humans to worry about. The area is a mix of jungle, wasteland, and a small section of arable land located on the border between it and Sanghata to its direct east, but there are one or two towns set up to "govern" the region and act as a potential buffer if humans decide to invade by sea.

So, as you might be able to tell, this RP's got people playing the 'baddies' in what might otherwise be a bog-standard humans vs. demons setup. Of course, there's a little note I have to make here: most player characters should be aiding in this rebellion, one way or another. Of course, I'll make two or three exceptions, but overall the players should be active in that regard... In one way or another. As the conflict is against humans, I should expect that most, if not all characters submitted, also fall under that category.
At the same time, though, I would prefer if we took some more intelligent creatures overall. Nothing too beastlike or lacking sapience, basically.

At most, one OTHER candidate will be playable (depending on how much attention this garners). I... Don't believe there's anything else to mention here? Except that there might be a surprising amount of semi-nationbuilding segments in the midst of what is essentially a giant ball of infighting. Yeah.

Anyways, form!

  • Name: Ima Isso
  • Appearance: "Wh-what were you thinking?! Jeez..." She is about 144 cm/4'9.
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Demon
  • Age: 18
  • Personality: Ima is a tempermental and irritable girl. She is deeply intolerant of others behaving foolishly, quick to admonish them(and even attempt to dispense her thoughts on just how foolish they were being). She does not shy away from insults, giving them out freely to anyone she thinks is deserving of them, and in general she can be considered rather surly. In spite of this, her attitude is usually only shown when someone is being(at least in her mind) stupid. Ima is also a very serious and studious girl, prone to studying a great deal and taking any duties she is assigned completely seriously. She has a great deal of pride in herself, her studies, and her skills, and part of her irritable nature is born from her belief that no-one should allow themselves to fall to a low standard and should always strive for their highest, as she does. In spite of her irritable nature, there are some people she gets along with quite well. However, there are others who she will unhesitatingly barrage with insults and complaints. While she may put up a strong front, Ima is prone to becoming flustered very easily, and when a situation becomes even remotely embarrassing she is liable to become a blushing, stuttering mess.
  • Abilities: Ima has a high degree of magical capability, though not incredibly impressive. She uses this to make up for her physical frailty. She is physical fragile, lacking in strength and durability, but she utilizes magic in order to reinforce her physical capabilities to the extent that she is capable of denting steel with her punches and resisting damage more effectively. She is also capable of summoning her armor and sword, as well as a set of magical construct swords. These blades are sharp, and dangerous, but break easily and are most useful as projectiles. She can generate five at a time to follow behind her, ready to be launched at any targets at a moment's notice. Ima's speed is also enhanced via magic, allowing her to more easily keep up with targets that are much more naturally physically capable.
  • Equipment: Ima has a set of strong armor she is capable of summoning magically. It resembles something of a very fancy, armored dress. She wields a longsword known as Dragonsbreath, which is capable of channeling mana around its blade or in beams. It is also naturally quite sharp and made of high quality materials.
  • History: Ima was born to a family known for its martial prowess. However, she was born small and fragile, unlike the rest of her family. She never grew very much, and as a result seemed to have a dim future in terms of combat ability. However, she promptly decided to research just what ways she could utilize magic to attempt to make up for her physical weakness. As her family was also renowned for a studious nature, Ima had many volumes on magic at her disposal, and eventually was able to teach herself how to enhance her capabilities via magic. Now able to close the gap between herself and other combatants, Ima studied various other spells, allowing her to summon her armor and sword, as well as magically constructed swords.
  • Other: N/A

@Grec: 'Demon' is a generic term; the first two fall under that category. Third... More situationally so.

@VitaVitaAR: She seems fine, if not a bit barebones. Accepted.

@PKMNB0Y

So what would a Mage be classified as? Human? Would Faeries be considered demons?

@Grec: Mage is more a class than a race lol. So it's a bit more vague in that regard, I guess?
And... No, they would not be.

@Grec: Well, yeah. Magic's a universal thing in this sorta setting, and it's not like that other side of stuff wouldn't exist.

Again, 'mage' is more a class than a term, so you can't just drop them all in the same category, mate.

Edit: @Crimson Paladin Form accepted. Whee~

@Grec: Ah... I don't think I can let that go as-is, man. It's nigh impossible to get them to act with the core group and I honestly didn't plan on having any humans interfere for a long while in the RP. Same goes for their allies. So... Yeah.

Still working on it obviously o3o

Name: Kotsueki
Gender: Male
Race: Soul Devourer
Age: Unknown
Appearance:
The most distinguishing feature Kotsueki has is waist-length pure white hair. Mostly seen tied back in a ponytail. Loose the four small curved horns on his forehead keep the hair out of his eyes. Speaking of eyes the sclera is black as night while the iris is gold. Those being his only stand-out features the rest of his face is fairly average. Masculine jaw, average lips, ears pointed like the typical demon, average sized and shaped nose, oh and sharp pointed teeth. Can't forget those pearly chompers.

He's fairly well built for his "profession" of choice. He's muscled but not heavily like a warrior would be but more than the typical assassin/rogue type. What muscle he does have is very visible, right down to the point where you can actually see the muscle fiber through his skin. Said skin is a dull gray with white marble-like lines running through it. They're most likely old scars whitened with age. Nothing else really stands out aside from the eight foot long tail attached to his ass and that his fingernails are pretty much small claws.

Kotsueki likes wearing lighter things, such as leather, as his clothing and armor. His old leather armor offers little protection but allows him to use his full flexibility. Even with the metal plates sewn underneath to protect his vital organs. The only parts not covered by the old blackened leather are his head, fingertips, and tail.

Personality:
Kotsueki could be described as empty when one first meets him. He seems oddly controlled, everything pressed into the back, and emotionless. The more people get to know him the more they see he's not quite all there. Taking the souls of others have left little imprints of their personality overlap onto his. When he actually lets loose he could be described as insane given how often his mind changes within seconds. Almost as if he were having an argument with himself. Although few things are clear, he's a crafty bastard, he loves fun, and don't piss him off. It'd be bad to have all those personalities focused on a sole being that raised all their ire.

Abilities:
Kotsueki is a bit of an oddball. He has various capabilities but the one he's best known for is killing people by holding onto them and devouring their "souls". Eating souls, anything that's alive, gives him major regenerative capabilities. He has learned over the years to use shadow based magic, his favorite is "teleporting" between shadows. Obviously this gives him great mobility, especially at night, and he comes out the speed he went in. Another one is bending darkness around himself, making him blend in better with dark backgrounds. His other most used ability is making a tendril out of shadows and grappling to a higher location, or pulling an enemy to himself.

Equipment:
  • Weapons: A pair of blackened steel curved daggers. Each blade is roughly eight inches long.
  • Armor: Aged leather armor with metal plates underneath covering his vitals. Namely his chest, the lower back over his kidneys, and one on his gut for the liver.
  • Accessories: Dragon Fang Necklace: Just a necklace made from the largest tooth of a dragon. It's still sharp.
  • Blackjack: A chunk of lead covered in dyed leather with a short grip and lanyard.

History:
Kotsueki didn't come from a fancy house or a lineage of somebodies. The tricky demon was an urchin, someone of no stature. A lousy pickpocket for most of his youth. Not that anyone was alive from back then. The young demon found out his true capabilities early on in life after getting stuck in a very rough space. Since then he has been absolutely merciless, forcing himself to be seen and heard. Getting famous for his ability to do what others deemed impossible.

Namely because he eats the life energy, or souls, of other people. Gaining some of their knowledge and personality. Not to mention tacking their life-force onto his own. He doesn't remember how old he is exactly but he's outlived his enemies. Didn't even kill them himself he let time do his dirty work. Although lately he's sealed off his capabilities to some degree, reverting himself back to a younger stage physically. Mentally he's still this merciless soul devouring monster hellbent on making himself more and more known. Either admiration or fear, he doesn't care which.

Other: He's a tricky demon, his shadow magic is as good as his imagination. He's also not above trickery or dirty fighting.
